Voted one of Connecticut's Best Restaurants in 2020. We serve authentic Thai cuisine as well as Pho noodle soups. We follow CT COVID-19 guidelines and we have three spacious dining rooms to easily accommodate proper distancing while dining. We look forward to delighting you with our delicious Thai dishes!
I have been looking for a great restaurant in Connecticut for a while...I honestly gave up on finding one until today. We were about to go to another restaurant for lunch and the owner recommended the restaurant. So, we went and let me tell you...this is it! I found the place. Excellent food, great taste... I am Caribbean and we know good food, not greasy and you just want more.... please try this place and let me know.... The Thai iced tea was so refreshing...reminded me matcha latte
This place has absolutely amazing food! The food is cooked by authentic Thai and Lau chefs, which truly understand the blend of spices flavors and aromas to make the food they succulent experience. The staff are courteous. The atmosphere is relaxed, clean and enjoyable. The portions are much larger than you would expect to get from any other restaurant. I have been to this restaurant multiple times ever since they opened and have always had an excellent dish prepared by talented chefs, and served by diligent staff. If there’s any place that I would go for Thai or Lao food in Connecticut, it would be Kob Jai.
Beautiful restaurant with great food. Winter shrimp was something new we tried first time it was really good. Spring roll cover was very fresh and crispy, the sauce also was great! We ordered drunken noodles chicken for my son 2* spicy and it was very spicy for him. We ordered our food with 4* spicy for veg drunken noodles and cashew nut and we loved it. The drunken noodles were little chewey but we asked to make it softer and they did it. Overall very good and will visit again. Very authentic Thai food. We also got mango boba and it was delicious!! Highly recommend!
Always delicious, give generous portion sides and I love the red curry so much. Very creamy, lots of veggies and tofu as well. Even the bubble tea is really a good deal for your dollar, and the desserts like mango sticky rice are so good. Love coming here! They are also very friendly with dietary restrictions!
Our family came here to celebrate my mom’s birthday and we had a wonderful experience. The staff was kind, the restaurant was beautiful, the service was fast, and of course the food was delicious! I loved the spicy red snapper and the seafood lad na! Definitely a great spot and we will be back!
Food was good overall.
Portion size for rice as a side is a little less.
1. We liked the basil rice. It had a smoky taste which was really nice.
2. Chicken satay is not that great. The peanut sauce is not typically what you get. It tasted like peanut butter. Would not recommend.
3. Winter shrimps were really great and crispy.
They added 18% service charge without letting us know. They said it is applicable for 5 or more including kids/toddlers. This was not expected.
Never had a bad meal. Great lo mein, pad Thai and drunken noodles. Fast and fresh.

I called for a take out order for a tax-exempt organization. I had the form with the permit number and was told that they do not accept it, so ended up going with a different place. I am so glad I ended up finding the other thai place in the area because the food was great and was more affordable.

My husband and I get takeout and dine here a few times per month. The service and food are always excellent. We thoroughly enjoy every visit!
I lived down the street from this place for 3 years and I miss it so much! Nothing like their Tom yum katee for dinner on a cold winter night. Good portions, fresh ingredients, and solid service. If I find myself in central CT again, I’m certainly spending my money here.
Food was good overall.

Very salty food. Larb tofu could have been better if the tofu hadn't been fried. It clashed with the freshness of the herbs though I did miss the mint
Best Thai food we’ve ever had! You won’t be disappointed.
Good food, service… however. I don’t appreciate being given an automatic 18% “service charge”, then a table to tip on top of that. Nope. I’m spending an extra 40% on top of my food bill.
very nice and clean !!Food is very delicious!!
After a 15-hour shift, I was exhausted and didn't feel like cooking. My husband and I decided dine-in. we've used takeout before. Although the food was good , the customer service was disappointing.
Upon arrival, our server ignored us, possibly due to my casual attire. She assumed we wouldn't tip well. As a former server myself, I understand the importance of tips. However, her neglect and bias were evident. She checked on the white table across from us but neglected us. If my husband not with me I wouldn’t tip.
I want to emphasize that appearance shouldn't dictate service. Treat everyone with respect, regardless of appearance.
I felt oddly unwelcomed when I asked to sit at a table that wasn’t right by the entrance, in the middle of the walkway. They wouldn’t accommodate my request for a more calm spot. I politely mentioned I’d come back another time, though I likely won’t.
Authentic food prepared with care!
Resturant worth driving to! Must try!
I’ve been coming here for years. They don’t miss
Had the luncheon vegetable in brown sauce, (it was brown water not sauce) with mixed seafood. Will never order it again for $22. Seafood tasted so fishy & very hard to chew. It was NOt fresh @ all. I barely made it home & went immediately to the bathroom. It was terrible.
Good food, good service, reasonable price, 2 minutes off the highway. What more could you want?!!
Delicious basil thai!
The service is lousy, mildly speaking. The servers looked unhappy, no smile, nothing. You are better off taking a to-go than eating there.
I ordered on GrubHub and it took them over an hour on a Wednesday at lunch time to make my food. My driver confirmed that she was waiting there. The food was pretty good, but there was nowhere to select spice level or even make a comment when ordering
The pho had all the ingredients of pho but tastes like cheap cup of noodles. The broth tasted like a bouillon cube. Extremely disappointing.
Overrated and average
always hanging up on me when I wanna playing order to go
Lots of veggies in their soups and noodle soup.
Me and my wife happened to be visiting family and on our way there we happened to stop by. The waiters were attentive and gave us seating right away with lemon ice water and menus, Both the blonde waiter and the taller dark haired one were both excellent at taking orders and giving us recommendations. I ordered the Pad Thai and my wife the Drunken noodle, the food came out quick, the presentation was immaculate and was delicious! The atmosphere in the restaurant wasn’t loud, in fact it was quite calming and gave me and my wife the much needed time to relax with each other. 5/5 stars on everything would go again! Highly recommend!
Incredible Incredible This is outstanding, I’m very impressed w the delicious foods and the top service. The top notch quality of service and BR nice and clean.
The waiters and waitresses very friendly and welcoming which made me feel like home and special.
DON’T GO HERE, WORST PLACE EVER, HORRIBLE customer service , racist behavior , waited for 30 mins no one bothered to come to the table, had given them lot of business thru take out orders
One of the best Thai/Laotian food in CT (another contender was the one in south windsor). We didnt order non-thai dishes (roti canai is malaysian for example).
Fried rice was delicious and you can taste the wok hei flavour and not greasy at all!!! portion was very generous so it was worth the price.
Massaman curry was delicious.. texture was just right and very tasty. A little different than thai restaurants around but to me it was better.. maybe Laotian version of massaman curry?
My very picky eater was loving it too.
The icing on the cake was the special menu that the very nice and friendly waiter recommend which was the tropical, which instead of salmon or snapper, the chef was willing to change to crispy duck. It was perfection….. 10 hours later, i am still drooling thinking about it.
All of the dishes we ordered was spot on, cant wait to come back and try other stuff…
Wow! This is the place I've been searching for-- beautifully arranged space to eat elegant and filling food. It is that good. Good crowd before dinner so I bet it can get busy.
I had soup and Kari puffs. Great presentation. Lots of great flavors and sauces.
Ordered two pho got one
Both of our salads had only one piece of lettuce tomato cucumber
Hung up on my wife when she called.
We use to go there at least once a week.
No more.
The food so yummy service was good
Food is always great. I love their mango shrimp fried rice, spring rolls and Edamame. Been there so many times.
Excellent service and food. Pistachio cake is fabulous.
One of the most disappointing experiences with the taste and flavor of the food we ordered. We ordered Chicken Satay, Roti Canai, Tom Yum soup and Tom Yum fried rice - The flavour was completely off.
Roti Canai was not even close to how it is supposed to be.
Not even a single item we ordered was close to being acceptable.
Wouldn't recommend this place if you are looking for Thai food.
I ordered drunkin noodles for my son, soon after he ate it he had diarrhea and was vomiting all day I will never order from here again
I have been on the lookout for a great Thai restaurant in CT after having been lucky enough to enjoy some very good restaurants on Long Island and while traveling for work across the country without much success, until today.
The lunch I enjoyed at Kob Jai Pho and Thai Restaurant was absolutely delicious. Although I only had a few of their offerings (Veg Tom Yum Soup, Spring Roll, & Prik King), the flavors were incredible and food divine.
From the subtle spicy and sweet soup, to the delicate crunch of the roll and sweetness of the sauce, and the perfectly spice laden Prik King with bell peppers, string beans, and white rice draped over the delicious sauce, I thoroughly enjoyed everything down to the last drop.
Highly recommended!!
Amazing Thai food - drunken noodles and chicken satay were so good. I have to eat gluten free, and while their menu items aren’t marked, they can modify tons of their dishes to be GF.
Love the color of the walls. Quaint place. Food is inauthentic Thai and we ate in person one time and did take out another time. Service was poor- wait staff did not cone to our table to check on us one time. We had to get up and get someone’s attention. They may discriminate by color of skin- we noticed that tables where everyone was white like my spouse or Asian were receiving service often.
Did take out and we ordered 2 lunch entrees and 1 dinner entree. They shorted us and gave us one soup (supposed to get soup or salad with lunch entrees). They also gave us a fried veggie roll that was spoiled. The yellow curry was not made from scratch- can tell the taste of curry from a jar or can. Hair found in one entree. We both felt sick after eating different entrees.
Will not return.
Top notch tasting food and great prices .
What a gem. We were a group of 6. Everyone was impressed with the food and service. I have the crab fried rice, enough for two meals and not skimpy on the fresh crab, no artificial crab substitute!
It was my first visit. I went with a friend who recommended it. The food was quite good and the service was excellent.
One of the few places open during the snowstorm this past weekend. The food was delicious. I’ve never been a big fan of Thai food but I think that’s because I don’t go to good place like here! Everything was very flavorful especially their soups. Perfect way to warm you up on a cold day. I will definitely be back.
The food is ok. Service is ok and atmosphere is ok. I was a bit surprised they handed us paper menus instead of a regular menu. The staff did not get our order right, but we were a large grp on a busy night. We did order a large amount of food and paid a lot. I feel for the service and food quality , the prices qre very high in the region. Also you must know what to order or you get something not palatable.
First time at this restaurant. The quality of the food is not the best. Pad Thai was lacking flavor
Food was great!!! Best fried rice i’ve ever had. The building is very nice and authentic and the service was good.
Got the panang curry with some crispy chicken, amazing flavors of coconut and spices with a bit of heat to the dish.
This place was really nice!! The atmosphere, the food, the prices, everything. I ordered the Thai wings for an appetizer and then the Pad See Ew and my husband ordered the Yellow Curry. Everything was delicious and the staff were all very friendly. We were only passing through for the holidays, but I wish we lived closer because this would be a frequent stop for us.
Awesome Thai place. I highly recommend
Ambience is good but service is not.
Food is not as expected.
Awesome drunken noodles!
Me encanta la comida Thai y he estado en muchos restaurantes, este es uno de los mejores
So far my biggest complaint is the texture of the noodles and rice. In both the drunken noodle and basil fried rice, the noodles and the rich were mushy and gummy. I tried the Thai Wings which turn out to be ordinary wings you can purchase from a wholesaler like Sam Club, Costco or Gordon - or a 24hour diner, with a side of sauce. I felt robbed with that purchase.
I enjoyed the pad thai (flavorful), sanjay chicken (tasty), fresh spring roll (lackluster) and the som tum/ papaya salad (enjoyable).
Delicious spring rolls, curry puffs, and beef pho... place was empty on a Thursday for dinner
Beautiful decor
I don’t know if they changed ownership but the taste has changed drastically. This used to be my favorite restaurant until the taste changed from the food I normally order. It looks like staff changed as well.
Ordered the chicken drunken noodles lunch which comes w soup and spring roll to go. If you forget to mention it then they dont include it. The flavor was All right. I remember it being better. They use the thinner noddles now. Rathe than the wider noodles, which I am a fan of.
Food is fantastic! And best Thai around.
Best Thai food in town and the service is great.. Drunken Noodles and crab fried rice are not be missed...
This is a best place for Thai food and has reasonable price for the dishes!
This place is hands down the best Thai food in the Middlesex area. I would go as far as to say the best I've had in CT. They are accommodating and kind. The drunken noodles and fried rice are delicious. I have really gotten into Pho lately, and theirs is fantastic. There are so many different options. The ginger tea is great.
Bad Service, i order 4 foods nevercome, keep ask them come 1 and 2nd, 3nd 4th, not come & all thai food bad not test good like thai food and pho noodles test bad not real pho. The chicken wing bad not fresh like bought from market basket keep in fregirator and warm up in microwave when customers ordering. The chef maybe don't know how to cook correct Thai and Vietnam foods. Waste my money and eat like junk food.
The noodle soups are excellent and worth coming for. The pineapple curry was good as well. Not our favorite place for the standard Thai noodle dishes, however.
Stopped on for lunch. Food was excellent. Good portions, right amount of spice everything. Service was good, but a bit slow. In all…I would definitely recommend.
Great Thai food. Usually get the Pad Thai with chicken, which is really good.
Pleasant atmosphere. Food is good.
The sweet and sour pork should be called sweet n sour veggies with a hint of pork.
Very delicious!!
Wonderful food with great service in a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. We chose meals from the lunch menu, but the portion sizes were very generous!
This was the first time at this restaurant and with absolute certitude my last. The take out shrimp Pad Thai was absolutely inedible -extremely sweet and heavily soaked in a sauce that made me feel sick after eating a few bites. Did not feel fresh but more like “recycled” food. The shrimp were unevenly cooked as if in mixed from different sources or orders-some soft, some hard. I almost damaged my teeth biting into a hardened piece of garlic I think that was like a tiny rock. For the prices they are charging and the fact that they provided no utensils or even a napkin with the order, I felt sorry afterwards for not taking it back. Money down the drain literally. The restaurant appearance is definitely deceiving. Going back to my favorite Asian Restaurant in Middletown whose service and food are worth every penny.
The worst Pad Thai.. I have ever eaten.. soaked in sweet sauce.. and I could not even finish it because of the deep sweet taste.. and charging $16.. Sorry but this was not a nice experience at all..
Their pork larb was the most fresh, flavorful, and delightfully spicy food I’ve had in ages! I would highly recommend it!
Ordered on Uber eats they forgot half of my order then when I tried to call to ask about it they just said they were closed and hung up on me
I recently moved from nyc and have been looking for good Thai. Let’s just say I have stopped my search and no longer order from anywhere else. Also, the portion sizes are great!
I can't say much about the other dishes because I always order the peanut curry, but the peanut curry with tofu is delicious. I have tried the vegetable curry puffs as well and they were tasty. Service is great and the restaurant looks nice and clean.
This so called restaurant don’t take reservations .. disrespectful people just because you are busy you can send people away ? .. good luck
Solid choice for Thai and Vietnamese. Good lunch specials.
Always great food when we come to Kob Jai. During the summertime, the wait for the ordered food was extremely long due to short staffing but it is worth it. The restaurant name is a little bit deceiving because the menu only consists of one pho choice and the rest is Thai/American-Thai fusion (incl. ramen soon to come). We try to order different entrees and they knock it out of the park. The flavor profiles are spicy, tangy and sweet which we love. Definitely one of the better, if not best Thai restaurants in CT. Vegetarian-friendly ! (Pictured are Thai iced teas, Drunken noodles with beef, Tom Yum Katee noodle soup with tofu, and Papaya salad.)
Easy to see why this restaurant was rated as one of the "Best" places by CT Magazine for 2022. Great decor, very clean, friendly staff. The menu is amazing, so many items its difficult to decide what you want to order!! Portions are very large and if you are a fan of Thai Food - this place is worth the drive to.
We ordered the Fresh Spring rolls with Shrimp, Papaya salad, Tom Yum noodle soup, Thai Basil Fried Rice and Pineapple Fried Rice. Portions so large we had enough to take home for another meal and prices are very reasonable.
Soup and salad came with the Fried Rice entrees. Everything was DELICIOUS, great mix of spice and ingredients. The Papaya salad was absolutely the best I've had from Thai restaurants I've gone to. Nice mix of lime juice and spices and a touch of heat with the papaya and other veggies.
The peanut sauce for the salad and Spring rolls had great peanut flavor, but very thick compared to other places and my own homemade version. This is my only somewhat less than great comment. Everything else gets more than 5 Stars.
The Tom Yum Noodle soup was huge and DELICIOUS and perfectly made.
We drove over 1 hour for the visit, and the trip was well worth it. We've already planned our next visit. If you love Thai Food, be sure to visit this Gem in Rocky Hill, CT.
Really good Pan See Wo!
We pass thru the area and wanted to have lunch. Green curry is fantastic in our taste. The drunkum noodle is good as well. Recommended.
Delicious thai food...when they are on its absolutely amazing. I feel like one of their chefs is really good..but sometimes it's not always consistent..maybe something they can work on. I went on a Wednesday and it was amazing. So whoever was working that day is great. There was one day I got the tom yum noodle soup and it had layers of flavor it was the best soup I've ever had. So it's generally very good but sometimes exceptionally great. Best thai food I've had.
The best Thai food Ive had in years!
Beer and wine only, great food.
Our new favorite Thai restaurant. The food is always wonderful and the staff is exceptional.
Fantastic red curry!
Place looked nice inside. Got take out so can’t speak to dinning experience, but the food was awesome.
Definitely going back.
Drunken noodles taste like it’s not fresh, inconsistent flavor and overly soggy vegetables makes me think that is wasn’t cooked that day. Thai iced tea was not even mixed properly. I would give this place zero stars. Just order the local Chinese and avoid this place, it’s no better. Matter of fact I’ve had better cup of noodles than that dish.
Food was really good especially the mango sticky rice.
I've have always love the food, and the ambiance, but tonight the from the server Ben, we received a lot of passive aggressive actions, poor service, and since the group was black people, I feel they were racist, none of the other tables were treated such a way....charging us for bananas??? Leaving our empty plates in front of use for an hour....I don't think I want to support a business that willing employs people with such attitudes.
Wonderful food !!!! Great prices!!!
best thai in rocky hill by far
I am writing this review as I just have stepped out of Kob Jai and this will probably be my last time coming here. I came to have dinner here with my family and we were met by frown and annoyed servers who said they were about to close, we arrived at 8:05 in the door. They seated us and threw the menu on the table and walked away. Our food appetizer all came at once- I didn’t mind because whatever. The chicken and shrimp dumplings we ordered was not the same that was given to us the last 3 times I have been there. It was the dumplings they used for their wonton soup. What really disappoints me is the servers’ attitudes. I had to walk to counter to get condiments, napkins, salt because they didn’t come to my table even once. I don't expect a 5-star service but at-least have the decency to do your "job". We ate a little but due to our bad experience, we decided to pack food home. This lady who I have photographed due to her nasty attitude and being constantly on the phone talking literally while you are talking to her, didn't want to give me a plastic container for Salmon entree I ordered. Instead, she put 4x cups of styrofoam containers and walked away while I was asking her to give me plastic container. I just don’t get when the food is excellent why keep servers who are this unprofessional? I literally had to grab the other guy who is extremely unprofessional and always looks annoyed and asked what container would they had put that entree if it was take out and he was like “ plastic container”. The owner needs to take some action and retrain his staff.
Very bad service.
1.We requested for steamed noodles .. we were given rice with Thai curry and charged for the same.
2. The staff doesn't respond even if you call multiple times requesting for bowls or spoons.
3. They are not consistent in food preparation . Some times drunken noodles are spicy and sometimes sweet even if u order the same spice level.
Fantastic restaurant! Absolutely delicious food, great service, great portions, great decor/atmosphere, great prices. Will be back for sure.
Amazing interior and delicious food. The sticky rice with mango in dessert was truly tasty.
$3 for extra curry sauce. Check over $150 min tip $30 for 2 people during lunch. Granted we did buy a bottle of wine. Lol For real though $3…a bit excessive don’t you think?!
The best Thai food, I have ever had!!
Loved the food, loved the beautiful ambiance in the restaurant and loved the staff(very nice, helpful and very polite).
Absolutely wonderful here, food is amazing, pricing is reasonable, the atmosphere is exquisite! One in a life time chance to experience!
Great place for Thai/Pho cuisine
I was in town for a business meeting and didn't have much time to eat approximately 45 minutes so I decided I would quickly have Thai food. Now normally the Thai food that I eaten has always been delicious but I never tried it out of my area. So I was a little skeptical. However when I walked in here saw all the beautiful artwork on the wall and the very first door I injured had a display of statues plants and beverages pretty much like an altar I was like this seems pretty authentic. As I begin to take pictures of this place I realize that there's a strong possibility that the way I like my Thai pad maybe done correctly after all. I really like the cleanliness of this place. The staff member who took my order at all male with short hair was professional but he didn't smile I mean a business owner or employee doesn't necessarily have to smile in order to get the job done right? But at least put on a pleasant face. His face was just drab. Nonetheless he did his job took my order and answer my questions. I ordered the best tasting Thai pad I have ever tasted. I was so shocked. When I eat Thai pad from New York they never include a line I squeeze the line on top of my meal and it helped to bring out the different flavors that were mixed inside of the sauces. We also ordered a red curry chicken dish I forgot what it was. My girlfriend ordered drunken noodles and need I say yes my greedy self took at least about five bites of each one of those dishes and I must say it was damn good. In a way I'm kind of upset that I ate there because this restaurant is in Connecticut. I'm sure they don't do any special deliveries. LOL. I just happened to be strolling up the block so to discover it was a gem. There's no special flashing lights or a big dragon seated on the roof or Thailand wrutung on the walls on the outside saying welcome it's just a plain place on the outside no extra decor. I found it a little strange however that with food so good it was no one in the restaurant seated at the tables. However they were phone calls coming in and there was another patron who came in after me. Maybe perhaps when I came in it was too early I don't know but if I'm ever in this part of Connecticut again I certainly will stop in for dinner, lunch, even breakfast if they offered it LOL. Keep doing what you do call Kob Jai Pho, I was very pleased with my order. I meant to take a picture of my meal but once I tasted it I totally forgot I was going to write a review.
Awesome!!
Fantastic fresh food. Generous portions. Friendly service. And a clean bright atmosphere. I really enjoyed my lunch here. I would definitely return!
Love this place I order all the time and they never disappoint their crispy chicken and Pad Thai is so delicious.
Food is amazing, online orders are fresh, portioned well, and they observe requests on Uber eats. I have eaten at over 20 Thai restaurants in CT and Kob Jai is still the benchmark
Good food! After all, isn't that the main reason we go somewhere.
Good service too
Our family came here to celebrate my mom’s birthday and we had a wonderful experience. The staff was kind, the restaurant was beautiful, the service was fast, and of course the food was delicious! I loved the spicy red snapper and the seafood lad na! Definitely a great spot and we will be back!
Good Thai food with a healthy selection. The portion sizes are fair but some are a little smaller so keep in mind. Prices are a little expensive but the quality is worth it.
Absolutely fantastic but beware, the food is very spicy. A 3/5 spice level here is the same as a 5 at other restaurants.
Needed some comfort food today to remind me of home. First time here. Staff was welcoming, and the facility looked great. I ordered Veggie and Tofu Drunken Noodles with chili garlic in oil on the side. It was about $15 plus tip (optional). The portion was significant compared to other places. There were also 3 choices of chili peppers (chili/garlic crisp in oil, hot pepper flakes, and huy fong chili garlic sauce). Normally, my go-to will always be the chili/garlic crisp in oil, but I used all three because I'm a glutton for spicy torture and didn't want to waste good chili sauce.
Anyways, flavor was authentic and noodles were cooked perfectly. Veggies (baby corn, green beans, carrots, broccoli, onions, red/green peppers) were NOT overcooked and contributed fresh crunchiness to the dish.
This might be my go-to restaurant when I don't feel like making it myself at home! Highly recommended. I will be back and look forward to tasting more tasty creations from the kitchen.
Absolutely delicious! Will come again and recommend to others 💯
Good ambience. Yummy food.
Excellent food all around and an extensive menu with lots of options. Very affordable and great tasting. Thank you!
This restaurant always has food and service. I never liked Pad Thai until I tried it here, it’s incredibly rich in flavor and the perfect amount of sauce. Their drunken noodle and thai basil rice are also super tasty.
Not fresh. It's edible, but not good.
We stopped in Rocky Hill for one night while on our way fro FL to NH. After reading a few reviews we decided to have our dinner at Kob Jai. We had the vegetable spring rolls, Tom Kha soup, and the chicken fried rice. Everything was delicious. The restaurant has a great vibe and all the staff is very friendly.
Best duck I have had in years! Tasty desserts too. Service was good, music not too loud, very pleasant experience. Would definitely go back.
