Small neighborhood eatery offering classic cooking for lunch & dinner amid simple, cultural decor.
Elite service. Phenomenal food. Ambiance always top notch. Love it here. Whether vegan, semi or flat out meat eater, there's a fresh choice for you. Veg pancake might be the best appetizer I ever had in my life of its class. Not pictured, but a must order. Veg curry is also elite. Love the food authentic no doubt. Shouts to the 203 and New Haven for this Thai gem π β¨οΈ
Luckily we tried, a new to us, Thai restaurant on State St called Rice Pot. We liked it more than September.
It might turn into our go to for Thai in New Haven.
My husband usually doesnβt like Pad Thai, but because the rice noodles were perfectly al dente, he enjoyed them. The Thom Young Goong was tasty too. The red curry and hot basil chicken we wouldnβt order again (it was good) and instead would try something different.
My favorite place. Everything about The Rice Pot is wonderful. Fresh & generous portions, great lunch combos, gorgeous presentations. Well-priced, very clean and the kindest people. Bonus: a little parking lot next door! Easy on/off East Rock location. Best Som Tum in a long time. The special, crab fried rice, was incredible. Love!!
Weβve been coming here for years, have tried other Thai spots in New Haven, and prefer Rice Pot. Very consistent and delicious dishes. Wide range of appetizers and friendly staff. Great prices too.
The food is so good! We love coming here and honestly anything on the menu is great. Our favorite is the Pad See-Ew with Sticky White Rice for dessert! The music is calming and service is great. Nice people π
Great food! I always look forward to coming here. The service is always great and makes me feel right at home! I absolutely love the drunken noodles and you can never go wrong with the chicken pad thai.
The best homemade food

A decent and reliable Thai restaurant. Small room and efficient service. The restaurant tries to serve multicultural cuisine: there hits snd misses.

A neighborhood classic. Alway yummy and smiling faces to greet you.
Love this place. Try the asparagus and eggplant if you like spice.
Excellent cordial service. Very flavorful dishes.

Always consistently good food. Wait staff is friendly and attentive. Calm and quiet atmosphere makes it easy to talk to your friends.

The food was really good and our waitress was really nice and accommodating. This was my first time here but I am already looking forward to the next time I am back!
Great food! I always look forward to coming here. The service is always great and makes me feel right at home! I absolutely love the drunken noodles and you can never go wrong with the chicken pad thai.
Best Thai in New Haven.
I love the food from The Rice Pot! I love that it is close to my house and is open until 10pm! The food is delicious! And they have a parking lot!

Had the green curry chicken lunch special (came with rice) EXCELLENT!
Really nice lunch
The food is very good. Nice smallish restaurant. Good service too.
Went for lunch. It was really good, quiet, the people were nice, and good value. I got lunch special #1, my boyfriend got #2. We shared Thai dumplings, and got drinks: iced tea and Thai iced tea, with tax & 20%tip: $53.
The lunch box was good, Pad Thai was perfect. Chicken satay was tasty & hot, great peanut sauce-sweet, salty, spicy, creamy. I had never had Cashew shrimp before, it had a little kick (but I'm white and I like spice, but can't handle it. So if you like spice, ask them to bump it up a bit). They served it in a large lunch box with a big chunk of apple. It really was asking for rice. I will forego the appetizer and get a side of rice next time. I left full, it was well proportioned. My boyfriend took some pad thai home. His ginger chicken looked good, his veggie rolls were hot and crunchy, he also liked the pad thai, and when he asked for no onions and no scallions it was not a problem. His stuff arrived as requested, which is often an issue in most restaurants. The staff was super nice, they gave use fried wontons with sweet chili dipping sauce to start, and we're on top of water refills. It was hot and I was thirsty, so I probably had 5 glasses of water plus my tea. We will be back.
Great food and service. Very good about recommending dishes.
Listen, all I have to say is do your self a favor and get your next meal from this place, youβre welcome.
Very delicious Tom yum soup, great flavor. Staffs are nice.
I love the food at Rice Pot! The Pad Sew-Ew is delicious and so is the mango sticky rice for dessert!
Service was great and the food came out pretty quickly! The lunch specials give you a deal worth your money ( i personally recommend #3 & #4!!). If you like sweet and savory dishes youβd probably enjoy the Mango Shrimp Curry but if thatβs not your style I would steer clear. The thai iced coffee is super duper yummy perfect amount of sweetness and just a tinge bitter. All in all filling meal and paid less than $80 for 3 people.
Delicious every time. Recommend the pork over the chicken in noodle dishes.
The food was hot, fresh, and well presented.
Rice Pot is one of my favorite spots. The food, service and atmosphere are great and the kindness and warmth of the staff also keeps me coming back.
This is the worse pad thai Iβve ever had. It was so dry, it didnβt taste good at all and expensive for the quality of food I got. I do not recomend it.
Food that is complex, healthy and delicious. It's a quiet spot away from the pizza frenzy crowds. Serene. Pleasant. And good for you.
Always delicious! Our favorites are the drunken noodles and any duck dish.!
This is the best and most delicious tom yum goong soup Iβve ever had! Itβs spices are so delicious and great if youβre feeling under the weather, too.
I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. Came here for the first time last week and have already had to go back for more. The food is EXCELLENT. Iβve had the vegetable and tofu panang curry and the chicken drunken noodles. Both were large portion sizes with generous vegetables and chicken. Panang curry was perfectly peanut-y and the drunken noodles had great texture. Staff is very friendly, food comes out quickly, and parking is easy and free. Definitely one of the best Thai restaurants Iβve ever been to.
Great service, great food! Best Thai Iβve had so far in New Haven. Panang curry and drunken noodles were superb. Good vegetarian options. Will certainly be back!
Nice local Thai restaurant. Good vegetarian meals. Small cozy
Great food and super affordable!
We have been coming here for years and itβs always good! I get either green curry or pad see ew and my partner always gets drunken noodles. We will order takeout and dine in and itβs always the same great quality! Thanks to Rice Pot we never gave to argue about where to get take out or go grab a bite to eat. The wait staff is also sweet and courteous.
I ordered the pad pedal duck. My duck was on the tougher side but still overall good. I was able to eat most of it! My friend ordered the home style duck. His looked juicer and he finished his meal w no complaints. I would go for that if your in the mood for duck.
the duck larb was so salty it was basically inedible. avoid this dish!
Authentic Thai food in Connecticut. Original taste and many more impressive fusion. Also Thai dessert. I had Fried Ice cream, Roti and Mango - sticky rice that is perfect. I m really recommend this restaurant!!!
Best Thai food!!!
Good food, large portions. Nuf said.
Highly recommend trying anything and everything here. My go to Thai.
First time ever tryin Thai food and my god it is amazing. I have never tasted anything like this before. Pictured is the drunken noodle. Very very good. Take out was great I bet at the restaurant is even better. Will be having again at some point and try another menu option.
Got some great takeout - curry, rice, sticky rice & fresh mango for dessert. Be sure to get that dessert, too. Wonderful.
I have been to this place three times and so far a great culinary experience each one of them. The places is small cozy and nothing fancy but the food is great. If you allow me to extend a recommendation, do your self a favor and order the Panang Curry; I usually order beef. The "broth" or "sauce" is exquisite. And, no to be mislead by the description of the dish, despite listing peanut butter, a component with a very strong flavor, it blends to perfection with the rest of the ingredients
Prices are very reasonable and the staff is friendly and diligent
Very cute, quaint atmosphere and the food was delish! Can't wait to go back.
Amazing service and great food. They happily accommodated our very large party, and we loved the restaurant. Thank you!
Donβt even think about getting Thai food anywhere other than The Rice Pot in New Haven. I highly recommend the seafood curry but you wonβt be disappointed no matter what you order. Delicious.
One of the best take out Thai experiences Iβve had in a long time. Another place that Iβd heard good things about wasnβt picking up their phone so I gave this place a try. Glad I did. Ordered online and delivered on time. But hereβs the real kicker - this place is a hidden gem. No need to look further for great take out.
Great thai restaurant. If you want a good, authentic Thai food this is the place.
I had lunch and dinner here, and I was pleasantly surprised. Love the fried wonton shells (complimentary) and the pad thai, drunken noodle and the duck noodle soup were all pretty good. Prices are not bad either. Service is good too.
cashew stir fry was barely edible. The vegetables were really overcooked, the tofu was soggy with frying oil, and cashews should not have the consistency of cooked carrots. chicken satay was decent, but that's a low bar.
Reading the reviews I had high hopes for this place.. but was disappointed when I ordered take out and upon arriving home my drunken noodles were bare and hardly had any sauce. Certain bites consisted of noodles stuck to each other and tasted like raw dough. Overall a disappointing experience and I won't be going back. Koon Thai a mile or so away has better food. Save your money.
I'm so sad..... π’ No flavor in my laarb. I literally had to add my own fish sauce, agave and lemon juice. Where was the FLAVOR? The coconut soup also a let down. I'll have to doctor that up too. The variety of vegetables was good and it wasn't overly spicy, but when we said low spice that didn't mean, no flavor.... Won't be returning sadly.
Delicious!
Authentic Thai food here and reasonable price. Outstanding service! Highly recommend for anyone!
So authentic Thai food! Rice Pot is my favorite Thai restaurant in town. Really love their Pad Thai and Thai curry. Great food and great service! The price is so reasonable! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who love real Thai food.
Rice Pot is my favorite Thai restaurant in New Haven. There are so many good choices to pick from from their menu that sometimes I canβt make up my mind. But I always get impressive recommendation from a waitress who is very friendly and helpful. This time I told her that I was craving for noodle, not spicy, so she recommended me Pad Thai, a good combination of sweet and savory noodle with chicken. I have tried so many noodle dishes, but Pad Thai at Rice Pot reminded me of My trip in Thailand.
When I am craving for Thai food, I always go to Rice Pot as they never disappoint me - good food, good service, what more could you ask for? Yesterday, I had Pad Thai and Papaya Salad. OMG!! They were so so good - my mouth is watering while typing this. Iβd recommend this restaurant to anyone!
Good taste and Good service.
I went for the first time last night for dinner. The food was excellent in quality & taste. The portions were huge & the price was very reasonable. I took my leftovers home and enjoyed it all over again today. Iβd def recommend it and I look forward to going back.
it was okay! my dish came out amazing but my friends dishes werenβt that good. my girl got the veggie curry and it had no flavor, another got the pad thai and it was way toooo sweet and our spring rolls were stale. my pad see ew was amazing honestly along with the curry puffs and desserts but the entrees were questionable. the scallion pancakes came in cubes and were super doughy inside but my girls liked them but me.
Great food one of my favorite places for drunken noodle.
This place has mediocre food, but for the price, I would expect much higher quality.
Great food and outstanding service. Love them
The only place I get Thai delivery from in New Haven! Their appetizers are the best.
Great Thai food in an easily walkable location in East Rock. One of those places that will continue to be a order-out and dine-in staple for me while living here!
I can't comment on the service of the place much since I ordered to go, but after calling up and asking for a lunch special of the drunken noodle, I was given and charged for a full normal meal. The drunken noodle plate was drenched in a spicy sauce which served as a distraction from the lack of flavor. I would not order that item ever again, and I would definitely not pay the $16 for such a small portion of sub par food.
Excellent food and service
This is a very friendly and delicious restaurant. My wife, son, and I got take out lay year when we visited New Haven, and were eager to return. The food is great, and the dining experience was great too. This is definitely one of our favorite places!
Fantastic food and service
People were very nice the service is good And dinner was delicious
Rice Pot became my go-to spot during the pandemic - I order takeout at least once a week. The food is delicious, filling, and timely, and the staff are very courteous. Overall, excellent service! The Pad-Thai is my dish of choice, followed closely by the yellow curry.
So this place has ZELISHOUS food and grrrr-ate prices, highly recommend Pad Thai and papaya salad it was so good I don't even think I chewed it I just inhaled it. I'll be back. (sorry for bombing your bathroom after you cleaned it)
Ordered take out, as we have many times before. My green curry arrived and i immediately saw a long hair stuck in the broccoli; when I moved it I found another long hair on a piece of spinach and another shorter one on another piece of broccoli. I asked for a refund. Other dishes we ordered had no issues, just the curry.
So yummy!! Best Thai in New Haven hands down.
Ordered one yellow curry tofu and one wild boar basil on grubhub. Was sent, what appears to be, 2 yellow curry chicken. Highly unsatisfied and could not watch dud to being vegan. Will not be reordering. Restaurant also closes at 2:15pm, so could not even speak to them.
The Pad Prik King Crispy pork is super flavorful and a great addition to any other dish you get. This place is great.
Nice place and delicious food for a reasonable price
Food is okay. Had hair in mine, twice! Rude staff. Food not as good since renovations.
Delicious every time. It's a bit of a drive, but if we want Thai this is the only place we go.
Excellent pad thai! Always consistent here
Good Thai food and great service!
Some of the best dumplings I've ever had! Normally I don't like pad thai, but this was great.
So, you can see from the picture I ordered a Pad Thai and the soup, the total is about $35. The volume of the food is almost enough for me to be full, but I had a polish off a beer along with it to make it a meal. I think the taste is definitely five stars, but at one star price, the service is prompt and quick, so Iβll round up to three stars. Eh, OK place if you can afford it.
Great place with tasty and authentic Thai food. Stopped here randomly on my way to NYC from Boston and needed some sustenance besides McDonaldβs and Dunkin Donuts. Did not regret it. They just need more beverage variety.
Rice Pot was great today. They have the Social Distancing pick up thing down. Food was great as usual as well.
Folks, what's going on there? I just ordered three meals through GrubHub and watched two of them go into the trash without being eaten. Always loved your food and we've eaten there many times over years. Tonight we ordered relatively simple meals and got food either un-cooked or under-cooked. The vegtables had been added without even bothering to cut them up or peel them. Whoever is working in back, please either take time to train them or find somebody else who actually would want to eat what they send out to their customers.
My favorite Thai restaurant by far. I suggest getting the sampler.
I donβt usually leave reviews, but I felt the need to. The majority of people who have left phenomenal reviews mustβve had a different experience. If you want light, traditional, well cooked Thai food I would recommend Koon Thai in New Haven. The pad see yew was heavy and doused in sauce, and the sampler was less than appealing. Look elsewhere
A Cozy, clean and nice little hideaway to enjoy something different for a change. I got the drunken noodles ππΎππΎππΎ now that's something I've never tried before π€€π€€π€€
"Don't come again
if you don't like my service"
Any restaurant whose waitress turns aways customers rudely and repeatedly (see other complaints below) and whose owner fails to take action upon complaints is doomed for failure.
-------------------------------------
Background: I used to visit this restaurant with a good friend of mine at least once per week.
Incident: We were displeased with the subpar service of one particular waitress at Ricepot but we tolerated it for a few weeks. When we visited Rice Pot in early October (one Wednesday dinner), the rude waitress did not refill our water -- she deliberately avoided our table twice for no reason. Unhappy with the terrible treatment, I wrote on my bill after leaving a 15% tip: "Your food is wonderful and I hope you can improve your service to make this a truly outstanding restaurant."
My friend visited Rice Pot with her friends on Nov 2 and was served by a different waiter. That same waitress went up to my friend to ask her to deliver a message to "your friend who left me a message last time." The waitress told my friend to inform me that it would be totally fine if I did not want to return to Rice Pot.
Outcome:
Complaints, initially acknowledged by the owner Jaruch, have not been answered to date. And I vote with my feet. In my remaining years, I never visited Rice Pot again. All except this waitress were terrific in this restaurant. How sad!
Nice
The Tom yum soup was the perfect thing on a cold Feb night! The decor and menu are simple, but that's the point! The menu easy to peruse, the service was friendly and attentive, and the pricing very reasonable. Go there, get something good to eat. You'll be back!
Excellent food. Great price.
Should improve staffs services
Food too salty
So delicious
Comfort food
Good
I love this food. So healthy and tasty at the same time
Authentic Authentic
I was expecting better food. The service however was very good!
Not too crowded with good ambiance. Food tastes great.
Really good drunken noodles
Reasonably priced good Thai food.
Love this place
I had finished almost all of it. When I alerted the staff, they apologized profusely and asked me if I wanted to replace my meal with anything else. When I declined and just asked for the check, they surprised me and came back with no check. The waitress said that the meal was on the house!
Solid Thai food
Absolutely favorite Thai restaurant EVER. Everything they make is incredible. Some of the absolutely favorites include fresh rolls, crispy duck salad, tom yum soup and pretty much all the curries. great pad Thai and drunken noodles too! the place itself is very cute, and is tucked away at the very end do state street and conveniently close to the highway.
Delicious Food !!!!!
Really nice ambience and good service. Liked the food too. I am a big fan of Thai food so keep that in mind haha. I tried the yellow curry and it was great. Plenty of food options on the menu. The thai iced tea was also really good. A little sweet though for people so like iced tea without sugar. Would recommend going!
Pasar la noche especial
We love doing takeout from here as they're fairly priced, quick and have great variety on the menu. They're great about substitutions within a dish and a really good choice for both vegetarian and meat dishes. The Siam fried rice is simple but great, and the drunken noodles have the perfect amount of spiciness. Inside they always have customers but are never overcrowded. Definitely one of the more underrated places in New Haven.
Nice little restaurant, the stuff is friendly.
Food quality is well. Had chicken sticks at first, price really good.
The duck almost perfect just the thai milk tea is to expensive.
Nice Thai food. Love it
Great food
