Xay's Kitchen is a small, family-run Lao/Thai restaurant located in Danbury, Connecticut. Varying cuisines are served in Xay's Kitchen in order to suit your Thai and Lao cravings best!
The vegetarian pho here is delicious. Very flavorful and filled with the best toppings. Everyone here is great, I love stopping by. The Thai iced tea is phenomenal and always so cute with their rose papers! Their Thai basil fried rice and pad Thai is also a hit! Looking forward to coming back and trying more. I always recommend this spot for anyone in Danbury. Especially because it’s very affordable Thai food! Come during lunch :)
Totally worth the price. Maybe they are not using the expensive meat or vegetables, but the smell and the taste is nothing but correct. And the size surprised me. One can never get such a big bowl of Tom Yum soup with less than $15.
I highly recommend the papaya salad. The curry is a bit too sweet for me. The Thai tea is too sweet for me, too.
The service is also great😊 I am so glad that Danbury had such a good Thai restaurant and I truly wish them good luck with their business.
Had a fantastic meal at Xay's Kitchen! The Som Tom salad was packed with bold flavors and the 5-chilli rating I asked for really hit the spot. Loved the chicken soup noodle dish – it was comforting and well-balanced. Don't miss out on the shrimp croquette-style rolls, they were a tasty addition to the meal.
Overall, I was impressed by their commitment to authentic flavors, especially given the location. Highly recommend Xay's Kitchen for a delicious and satisfying dining experience!
Stumbled upon this fantastic Thai restaurant, and the dishes are truly delectable, especially the Pad Kara Pao at spice level 4. A delightful discovery with superb flavors, making it a definite bookmark for my next visit to town. Exceptional value for money, and the service is top-notch!
I live in Manhattan and travel well over an hour to get to Xay's for their Pho at least once a month. That's how good it is. If that isn't a reason to check this place out, what is? I have not had a bad dish from this place, and the customer service is always phenomenal. I cannot recommend Xay's enough.
Absolutely fantastic food. Friendly service and they accommodate both vegan and gluten free orders. One of our favorite restaurants in the area!
Worst service, we asked for a vegan dish and they said they served us a chicken role and egg in the dish and they said they are sorry when asked, very unprofessional, don’t trust them
All food taste weird too sweet...not an authentic food.
Ordered the Pad Ka Na expecting chicken and broccoli from the picture of the dish on the menu. I got bland chicken with spinach and they called it broccoli. Won’t be ordering again.
Wonderful service. Wonderful food. Will definitely be back many times. The Larb was fantastic.
Delicious food. Wonderful staff. One of my favorite restaurants.
Extremely tasty Thai and Lao food, one of our very favorite restaurants in the Danbury area. The green curry and Nam Khao in particular are out of this world! And the crispy garlic chicken soup is the best cold remedy I've yet found. I will say, I highly recommend eating in as opposed to ordering take out, the food is much fresher with better texture.
Great pho!
I really wanted to like this because it's closer to me than two other places I go to. It's authentic there's no debating that but, my two main dishes lacked flavor. It honestly felt like there was something missing. My soup was probably the best I've ever had. The perfect combination of sweet and spice. But, everything else left me hungry and unimpressed. I will definitely go back for the soup again when I'm in the mood and I'll try another dish because again they are authentic and maybe it was just a day. I'll revise if I give it another go.
Placed an order for delivery through UberEats. I selected mild for all the dishes that were ordered since I have small children. The food was too spicy to eat. I wasted $120 and had to throw half the food out.
Amazing food
My favorite Thai restaurant! Food is amazing and the service is always great.
Always amazing food. Very quick with the service and friendly.
The worst and overpriced thai food I've ever eaten. I ordered beef pad se eww and it looks nothing like beef at all. The meat was also translucent. Unbelievably bland like this was made for yt people. If you have the money, just go to Bangkok on newtown rd. I'm from New haven where Thai food is huge, so food being THIS awful...shocking is quite the understatement.
The 1 star is for the satay because it's hard to mess that up.
This place was Amazing! Everything here Tastes Really good! I would definitely recommend!
Wonderful all around. Food delicious and huge servings. My grandson is a picky eater, I've never seen him eat so much. Friendly, prompt, professional service. Prices very reasonable. Popular spot fills up, staff on top of keeping things moving so no one had to wait.
We tried something new last night and it was a delicious experience. The food was amazing, and my two young children both gave it to thumbs up. We had a party of five, and dinner plus appetizers and delightful tea was less than $150.
Best Laos and Thai food around. Super authentic and friendly staff

Some of the better Thai food around - great curries, great pad kee mao, incredible mango sticky rice (seriously some of the best sticky rice I’ve ever had), solid pad thai. And the spice levels are actually spicy. Also super friendly staff. Definitely check this place out.
The food is great but they jerked me on my order and didn't give me what I paid for. They shorted me on 2 wings, I ordered the Xay's Platter and it said you get 7 but they gave me 5,but the food is definitely probably one of the best in Danbury.
Delicious noodles! 😋
The food here is amazing. Everything I had was flavorful and balanced. Friendly staff and quick service definitely recommend!
My family chose to stop at this restaurant on our way back from our trip in NYC and it was the best decision ever! The food was delicious and authentic. Would definitely come back if I pass through this town again.
I always find myself coming back to this place. The lovely customer service and authentic flavors are always consistent.
LOVE!! Lovely staff and amazing food. One of my favorite places to go eat!
Love this restaurant food was accommodating towards my dietary restrictions! All you need to do is ask!
No proper customer service
Steal food taste
Bad food flavours
Food is not cleaned and taste of food is worst
Food taste is bad
Service was not good. Food was also not good.
Worst food ever before
地道老菜,量足味绝价公道!厚道生意人!
Excellent food and service. We really enjoyed our dinner.
The food is a bit bland, which I assume is because of the abundance of white people in the area. Flavors are somewhat authentic. But the service here is absolutely horrible. You need to train your staff how to place orders and get the food into the kitchen in just the 20 minutes That I was here dining your server forgot multiple orders on different tables including two entrées on a six top. They also decided to ring in my order to go that I placed but never cook it so I sat there for 20 minutes waiting for food that was never being cooked while the chef sat at a booth next to me drinking a soda , you guys are not busy enough nor making enough money to continue to operate your business like this if you want to succeed contact great local restaurant consulting
Very kind people, the only people in this plaza who let me use a bathroom. Their food looks very good and their staff is very friendly
Quick with the service. Very nice and authenic.drunken noodles are everything.
Have eaten at the Danbury location several times and each has been a truly outstanding experience on both quality, quantity and presentation of both all food and beverage items selected. The ambiance and service is always friendly and on point. This gem is a must for anyone looking for a five star Laos/Thai experience. I could eat there daily! 👍🏻👏🏻
The best Pad Thai, hands down!
Drove an hour to Danbury for something completely unrelated. I was starving and choose to eat at the place with the best reviews. This was it. When I tell you NOTHING dissapointed, absolutely nothing. I had the Tom yum soup which was sooooo yummy. My husband had something that he COULD NOT stop talking about and it takes alot to please my Caribean husband’s palate. My 5yo loved the chicken satay, egg rolls and the friend rice. Service was polite and attentive. The Thai tea was crackkkkk. So yummm. Just do yourself the favor and come here.
Good bubble tea.
The food was absolutely phenomenal! Best curry I’ve ever had. The customer service was wonderful as well. I am absolutely going to be back
Excellent service and great pho. Would recommend

Summer roll is a big miss... hardly any shrimp flavor at all.
Delicious food, quick and quality service. I would highly recommend it. 😊
Three years ago this place was my favorite little gem in town. However, the last year the food quality/taste has declined pretty badly. Every time I order and it’s bad I always say im going to give them another try… and im disappointed once again. Ordered again today. Pad Thai was bad…. The snapper did not taste fresh at all. Just bad overall, won’t waste my money on them again.
The coconut soup and mango and sticky rice!!!!! Delicious
A must try!! I got the Nam Khao and everyone at my table wanted multiple bites. Couldn’t recommend this place enough! I’d share a photo of the meal but I ate it too quickly.
Tasty and prices are flexible
Food is deliciously perfect, staff is super nice and friendly, and it is very nicely decorated inside.
Just had take out from this place for the first time. Fantastic food!! We all loved it....
We got here more and more often and it's becoming our favorite restaurant in Danbury.
They send the wrong order and promised to give full refund however they did not. Thiefs!!!
Food is always really good and I love their bubble tea
Friendly staff, great tasting thai flavours. Loved the satay sauce and the shrimp fried dumplings.. Highly recommended.
Very delicious. Ordered online and was ready very fast. Be careful when you open it because it's so hot!
Had lunch here a few times. Good flavor with fresh ingredients. Chilli oil is super hot.
Probably my favorite restaurant in Danbury, really good thai food for a good price.
Totally worth the price. Maybe they are not using the expensive meat or vegetables, but the smell and the taste is nothing but correct. And the size surprised me. One can never get such a big bowl of Tom Yum soup with less than $15.

The service is also great😊 I am so glad that Danbury had such a good Thai restaurant and I truly wish them good luck with their business.
Overpriced, which Iis especially disappointing seeing that the chicken I ordered wasn't fresh.
Definitely one of if not the best Asian restaurants in town. Food is authentic, well-seasoned, and service is excellent. I always eat here when I want a taste of home.
The Pad Thai is so good I'd come back to Danbury just to eat here.
Pretty good food. Since we ate using a chamber coupon we didn't get to try our usual, so hard to judge. My favorite is Khao Soi but I've only been able to find in MA. Service friendly and a little too efficient as dinner arrived was served before we finished apps n salad
Larb is excellent, get with sticky rice. Everything's good!
Delicious food.
Great service.
You can choose the level of hotness of your dish. Go easy!
Family-run business.
Nice tasty Thai food.Excellent service. We reach at time of closing however received with smile and give nice service.
The most tasty Thai food we’ve had for many years now…a definite recommendation !
Best papaya salad I’ve ever had and service is great too
I ordered the Tom Ka Gai soup, it was fair. The broth wasn't creamy enough and there were bits of a spicy pepper floating in the soup? Weird.
My main course was massaman curry combination with chicken, beef, and shrimp. The sauce was strangely sweet. It was totally unfamiliar, not the typical rich, curry-laden, full of coconut milk flavor. I'm not a fan of most fish or seafood and I was unpleasantly surprised to find large chunks of fake crab and rubbery calamari floating around in the sauce. I was confused that seafood was added to the mix when I didn't expect it or order it. What if I were allergic to seafood and was served that dish? Not good.
The service was attentive.
Great food. Fresh, quality ingredients prepared exceptionally. Best Asian food I have eaten in the area since moving up here From NYC.
Very tasty, prompt service! Definitely adding this restaurant to my usual places.
Great food & service as usual 👍🏻
The food is amazing, wonderful service, good atmosphere, and the restaurant was very clean. Large portion sizes, I felt like we got our moneys worth! I will definitely be coming here often!
Food is consistently good, customer service is usually the same as well. However, I am leaving three stars as my last time here was disappointing. It seemed the server was more interested in his phone. I am not expecting a red carpet to be rolled out on my arrival, but it is annoying having to ask for utensils/condiments after the food has arrived and server is already back at the register just staring at their phone.
I live in Manhattan and travel well over an hour to get to Xay's for their Pho at least once a month. That's how good it is. If that isn't a reason to check this place out, what is? I have not had a bad dish from this place, and the customer service is always phenomenal. I cannot recommend Xay's enough.
We're Southeast Asian food snobs and this was the best pad kee mao we ever had!
Amazing restaurant everything taste great Pho soup was good. Kai pad basil was the best!!! Really recommend it!!!👏👏👏
Even deserts were good😉
The place is very nice once inside.
This restaurant has the best staff and customer service I’ve come across my whole life, so much so that interacting with the servers felt like getting a warm hug in my heart. Not to mention the food is always impeccable and served as fresh as possible, giving that same feeling as if I was in the Food Wars anime. I recommend this place to everyone I know, and all I can say is that if I could give this place 6 stars, I would.
The summer rolls, pho, and mango with purple sticky rice is 💯!
Pretty authentic, but spicy level toned down too much IMO, and a bit sweet. EXCELLENT service tip like crazy!
Excellent food. Clean and friendly staff.
🙏👍
I've become a regular here. The food is consistently good and service is always fast. I always get the pad kee mao.
Food is so fresh, well prepared and presented. Staff is very friendly. One of our favorite restaurants in the area!!
The best pad Thai I've ever had. Great service, and you can can in an order before you come in to eat, which makes fitting in a nice lunch easier during a lunch break.
Such a great find for the Danbury area. This food is delicious and not expensive for what you get.
My wife loves the massaman curry. I've tried 3 different dishes here (Pad See Ew, Pad Kra Pao and Pad Thai) and all have been very good. The boba tea is great. I highly recommend it.
Had a great experience overall here. Our waiter was very nice and polite and always made sure we had everything we need. We ordered the Pad See Ew and Pho and it was delicious. Our son has peanut allergy and we know Thai food contains a lot of nuts in their dishes and our waiter was extremely attentive to our peanut allergy situation.
Great food, great service, and a great family run business. Would definitely recommend to come here and try out their food. Would eat here again.
Absolutely delicious! The flavors were top notch and the service was lovely. Highly recommend!
It's not often you find a place where the atmosphere, food, and people are of such exceptional quality. We stopped in for a Saturday evening dinner and could not be more pleased at that decision.
First and foremost, the staff and owners could not be warmer, kinder people. Although it was a fairly busy evening, Xay and Joy both stopped by to welcome and make us feel at home. To start off we went with Summer Rolls and Hai Gun, both of which were presented and crafted with care. The chili sauce was an excellent blend of flavor, and the peanut sauce was an extremely pleasant surprise.
Mains were Pad Kee Mao and Mee Crob, either of which could be used as an ambassador to someone unfamiliar with the cuisine. While it may seem like an odd thing to comment on, the consistency of the gravy in the Mee Crob could not have been more perfect, lifting a bit of rice noodle would reveal a completely clean plate beneath.
Unfortunately we were far too full to indulge in the desert options, but the Thai coffee was a great note to end the evening on.
Tl;dr: I would highly recommend going to eat with these delightful human beings.
So delicious!
Called twice - one to check on availability for dining in, once to order for pickup o ce pla s changed. The gentleman who answered both times was well spoken and polite. Was told 25 mins for order time for a pickup and they were right on. No waiting around for another 10 mins. Ordered a variety of dishes, all gluten free, and all were delicious. They had hot oil and hot peppers to go, so you could spice up your meal to your own taste. I have had this on my list of places to try for a while and I wasn't disappointed. Definitely will be back again!
Incredible food!!!
Brilliant selection of delicious Laotian, Thai and Vietnamese delicacies!
The beef kra pao was excellent
Used to live in the area, this is a great area in general for food so we had high expectations walking in. It's very clean and well decorated, nice paintings but not full of trinkets. The food was 10/10. We got deep fried pork and shrimp spring rolls as an app, thai iced tea and coffee, hot green tea, tom kha gai soup, and beef/shrimp pad kee mao. Their "spicy" IS actually spicy, so order accordingly! The soup was incredible, as were those little rolls! We got all that food for under $40!!! And our server was an English speaking girl named Liberty who was very prompt and polite, and made it a very pleasant experience overall. They are very respectfully keeping people apart (they sat us as far from the other people as they could, and continued to seat in that way accordingly as people continued to enter). Overall very very happy with this place, will be back to try some curry and pho!!
Real authentic lao and thai food. Very fresh and affordable.
Best Thai food in town!
Food was good, felt very authentic though the service was lacking.
They are so delicious 😋 At this point we decided that every time that we go there we are trying something new until we try the whole manu 🤪
Amazing 😊👍!
Thank You!!!!!!
Very disappointed with the experience my boyfriend and I had here. We ordered for the first time (pineapple fried rice, pad kee mao, chicken wings and fried shrimp) and went to pick up the food. Although the fried shrimp was decent, everything else was extremely underwhelming. The food was literally tasteless. The traditional thai seasoning and taste you expect was lacking. I had to put the fried rice and noodles on the stove to add my own seasonings for flavor. The fried chicken wings were tiny and there was nothing special about them, they were also over fried so it was way too crispy. We don’t plan to order from here again.
Excellent food and very good customer service.
This place is amazing!! Great food and great customer service.
Delicious food
Pretty solid massaman curry. Can't go wrong with Xay's.
This is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants I have been too in my life, it is literally heaven. I get the beef pho and shrimp fried rice, I would highly recommend. The service is great and i go there every week. Support small business!!!
Almost authentic thai food
But if you really want to take it
Thai hot
All then to add the red chillies peppers
Add remind them to pack the chilli peppers vinegar.. ( they don't seem to add that on their own.... 😭😊)
I wouldn't recommend this place. I hate to give this a low rating because I can tell it's run by a nice family. But honestly food didn't have much flavor. I love thai food and have been to many a thai place, but I left unsatisfied and didn't finish the two dishes I ordered. It has good ratings on google and that's why I went but I can't figure out how it has over 4 stars.
The restaurant offers some traditional Laotian fare. As we rarely come across this, we tried the Lao sausage and beef jerky. The jerky was not tough as the name suggest, but spongey like tod mun. Both were delicious. We also had the tom yum shrimp soup, the deep fried red snapper, and pad thai. Look forward to returning to try the other menu items.
Xay’s is delicious and consistent every time I have dined in and ordered take out! Food is always flavorful and fresh. Staff is attentive and friendly.
2nd time here. It's simply the best Southeast Asian food in the area. Obviously we have so much to choose from around here, but this is easily the go-to for Laos/Thai/Vietnamese cuisine. Vietnamese raviolis (spring rolls), coconut soup, noodle dishes, their homemade sauces-all second to none. Shocked at how good the Phó was. Loaded with pork (that you could taste! As meat in pho is often crazy bland), and NO need to order extra noodles. It was godamn perfect. The service could not have been better, and the host/waitress could not have been more pleasant. And the place is meticulously clean and cozy. Loved it, again.
Delicious food with a thoughtful blend of spices. Everything I had was well balanced and cooked to perfection. Portion sizes are generous as well.
If you prefer spicy food, Xay's disappoints. Although I requested as spicy as they would make it, entrees appeared with only a smattering of mild chilis.
I thoroughly enjoyed the drunken noodles. Great portion size and very flavorful. Would highly recommend.
Exelente variedad
Delicious food, generous portions, really nice people, wonderful atmosphere, and affordable prices. Highly recommend.
We visited Xay’s Kitchen on our half way to Kent with extreme hunger and felt satisfied with their service and food. The exterior is humble and easy to miss.
The owner was super friendly, welcoming and introduced their menu in details. We are familiar with Thai food but not the cuisine from Lao and she recommended us to try some authentic Laotian dishes.
We ordered Xay’s Sampler which included 5 different appetizers, Nam Khao and Thai tea. The food was amazingly delicious and appetizing in this hot & humid weather. Our favorite was the Hai Gun from the Sampler and there is also a single order option on the menu.
The Hai Gun was fried, made with shrimp, pork wonton and wrapped in rice paper. It was fried well with crispy layer and is super juicy and tender inside. It’s similar to fried shrimp roll but it’s the best one I have ever had in the US.
The owner mentioned dine-in will be allowed from June 17th. We will definitely visit again in the near future even though the drive is 2.5 hours for us from Queens.
Food is fantastic, homemade. Excellent service. Xay, the owner truly cares about her business and her customers!!
Best PHO in the area! Pad Thai is really good. Welcoming. Will be back.
Incredible food and incredible service!!!
Good service. Delicious food.
Awesome food
Love this place. So much food for a good price
Menu item #29 has to be explains better, I order beef pad Kra pao. I ordered for takeout when opened noticed it was ground beef, and not cut meat. I called; they say this plate is made with ground beef, that detail is not written in the menue for #29, as the person stated. All in all food was outstanding #30 say sauteed and make with beef
Great food, felt uncomfortable being stared at while eating. Great food though
Incredibly fresh. Honestly, some of the absolute best Thai food I've ever had.
Sooo good! Highly recommended!
