Simple tie has been in Vallejo for quite some time. I remember trying it when it first came there and it was amazing, several years later it's still amazing in fact I think it's gotten better. This is an understated restaurant and when you walk in you may not understand that what you're going to get is going to be some amazing Thai food. The service is good The people that work there are friendly and they serve your food quickly. I would highly recommend it over any other Thai places in the area. They're curry is not to be missed it is absolutely one of the most flavorful and well-made curries that I've had in a long time. This place is a home run.

If you know you know if you don't please make sure you stop by this amazing Thai place in Vallejo CA. Everything I have had has been delicious and I can't wait to go back again.

Diner Review №4

feels like you're in a friends house and the smell of mom's cooking has everyone excited. been coming here many years, and my only complaint is they're not open 7 days a week, wish i could get more! awesome service and a nice environment but the food is so a home run every time!

Diner Review №5

Disclaimer: while this is the worst rating I’ve ever given it’s not the worst place I’ve been i
to. The restaurant is clean and presentable. That being said let’s get into it.

The service here was absolutely awful. They spend most of their attention making to-go orders rather than spend time on their dine in customers. I understand if they are busy but they only three tables at the time I was eating here and it took them over 15 minutes to take our order.

The portion here are huge! That’s the best thing I can say about this place. It’s unfortunate that my Pad Thai taste more like spaghetti rather than Pad Thai. It was covered in some curry and the noodle texture was not right. I understand there are different styles of cooking Pad Thai but for me this was not it.

The vibes here are no bueno. I don’t know why they can’t play original songs rather than hear a very cheap cover song. You will only hear cover songs to great dance music. It’s the most annoying thing to ever listen to. Great songs being turned into garbage.

I well say this place has great value. As the portions are huge and it’s very affordable compared to any other Thai spot.

That being said I will not be eating here again. This the only place I have ever written a review while waiting for my check. It has yet again another fifteen minutes for them to close us out. I want to leave now to the point that I’ll dine and dash and not feel bad about it.

Stepped off of the ferry with a voracious lust for Thai food, seeing that it is Easter Sunday, chances of finding a restaurant open around the area were very slim, until I discovered this quaint little spot to be the only place open. Everything from the dining room to the windows were absolutely clean, the server was a delight to speak with, he recommended a very appetizing dish of beef larb salad, amazingly spicy and bursting with flavor. Thank you very much for a pleasant dining experience!! I will definitely be returning to Simple Thai upon my next trip to the Bay 🤝🏽

I asked for and got the spiciest green curry I’ve had since leaving Thailand. Excellent food. If you’re seeking the real thing, as I was, this is it.

Diner Review №10

The food was superb! I will return.

Diner Review №11

The food was very tasty. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Diner Review №12

Delicious Thai food! We enjoyed our meal!

Diner Review №13

One of the best Thai meals I've had in a long while. And of all places in Vallejo! The surrounding area is typical of the aging downtown but don't be deterred in trying this place.

I cannot rave enough about their garlic pepper calamari, Penang curry and Tom Kha Ga soup. So delicious - all the dishes left your taste buds wanting more but your tummy says no! I loved their garlic rice as well.

When I visit this town next, I will definitely have another meal or take it to go back to San Jose.

Diner Review №14

They don’t got Chicken nuggets

Diner Review №15

Give you your money's worth! Very fresh and delicious! Authentic Thai food 😋

Diner Review №16

Diner Review №18

Diner Review №19

Loved it! Delicious food, best spices, soft and tender meat that melts in your mouth. Good music. Just all over great really.

Diner Review №20

I would argue one of the best Thai restaurants on the West Coast. Awesome service, large portions, and sweet low prices! We worth the flight to visit!

Diner Review №21

Great all around

Diner Review №22

Love this place. The food is the best. I brought my mom here a few months ago and she loved it, surprisingly. I say that because my mom does not like a lot of things easily because she is cheap and would rather cook her own food (which she does make really well). So I was surprised when my mom suggested we go celebrate Eid at this place instead of go to our usual "celebration" restaurants. We went with my whole family this time. My brothers and dad, who were even more picky than my mom, loved everything. They loved all the food and gobbled up the fried crab rice, pad Thai, beef and duck curries, mixed seafood, and the cashew nut dish with beef. We also loved the fried banana dessert with Mitchell's ice cream.
The server was very nice and accommodating as well. The price overall was not too bad either. $160 for 7 people, including dessert and drinks.
I would recommend this place a hundred times over if looking for a place to eat at Vallejo.

Diner Review №32

Smallish restaurant with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.Food and service were excellent, prices reasonable. Took the whole family and had a great experience.Highly recommend.

Diner Review №33

I was disappointed after being closed the last couple of years that our standard dishes didn’t have more flavor and pop!!
As we dove into our Thai basil fried rice, basil chicken and pad Thai — a frown took over my smile

Sadly I was searching for some soy and hoisin sauce 😕 we don’t need heat but we do need flavor !

Been coming here for years
Good people friendly service
Missing my old dishes

Diner Review №34

The best pad Thai and curry I ever had. Portions are big. And I will definitely be coming back.

Good food

Diner Review №46

Great yellow curry! Polite staff. Getting directions from google maps are a bit off, but I was eventually able to find the place.

Diner Review №47

Take out order Tod Mun (because they were out of Sa-Tay), Tom-Ka soup, and crab fried rice. The Tod Mun (fish cakes) were quite oily and completely lacked flavor - wouldn't have known they were fish. Tom-Ka was salty and although big pieces of galanga ginger and lime leaves - no lemon grass. The chicken in the Tom-Ka was tasteless and very chewy. Crab fried rice - rice was overcooked before being fried, not much crab, peas, and hard under cooked carrots. Best thing was the cucumber salad which was maybe 1 tablespoon of fined cut cucumber. However, the cucumber was the ONLY thing that was fresh - obviously frozen fish cakes, crab, chicken, peas, and carrots. 1st and last experience! Hard to believe it has gotten so many good reviews

Diner Review №48

The Papaya salad was wonderful. You can order thai hot. Awesome eatery.

Diner Review №55

The food is delicious. The decor is lacking but I had take-out, so that wasn't an issue.

Diner Review №56

Soooo good

Diner Review №57

Possibly our family's favorite Thai spot in the north bay. Price & quality get us to drive here from Napa. Friendly service, but be aware that there may be a wait for food - even when the tables aren't full there can be quite a few take out orders in the que!

Diner Review №59

Awesome place to eat nice people good food, can get free thai tea if you check in yelp!! Usually get panang curry, number 36 fish and 39, and crab fried rice or pad thai.

Diner Review №60

Great food and service, street parking not a problem and reasonably priced. Music was a little loud but other than that a great meal for a reasonable price.

Diner Review №73

We've wanted to try this place since we moved to Vallejo, but with their weird hours we seem to always come when they were closed or closing. Finally made it in for an early dinner, and really enjoyed the food and ambience. Music was too loud, but the proprietors were accommodating and turned it down for us. The fried duck was overcooked and burnt tasting, but everything else was excellent! When I asked for some spicy chili fish sauce, our hostess went to the kitchen to whip up a batch with fresh chillies just for me 💚 We will be back soon to try some other delicacies.

Diner Review №74

Great food and great service. We'll be going back there again soon.

I've had two meals here. The first consisted of duck Panang curry, and papaya green salad–both Thai and Loatian styles. The loatian style is an acquired taste. The Thai style tasted fresh. It was a busy night and there was only one server, a young girl who was remarkably quick on her feet, personable, attentive, offered recommendations, and was able to have my meal prepared gluten free. The Panang curry was rich and well spiced, and the duck was crispy and tender–one of the best Thai dishes I've ever eaten in my 20+ years of Thai cuisine eating. The second meal consisted of Tom Ka Gai (soup), a green beef curry, a red chicken curry, green papaya salad (Thai Style) and a Song-Sa-Hai (prawns, scallops, egg, zucchini sauteed in coconut milk) The restaurant was empty and the service felt slow and unattentive. I was told that I couldn't order duck panang curry. The Tom Ka was mostly mushrooms, good flavor, but not what I expected. The red curry had more flavor than the green curry. The Song-Sa-Hai doesn't look appetizing, and the egg makes for an unusual texture, but the flavor, and especially the scallops, are very good. This place is hit-or-miss, but it's also the best I've had in Vallejo.

Their menus are hard to read. the lighting is poor and their music was so loud I couldn’t concentrate well enough to order. There were other customers and I didn’t think we should ask to have the noise turned down so we just left.
I can’t rate the food, but for me it would be an unpleasant place to eat.

Diner Review №104

Diner Review №105

The service here was unbelievably fast, especially considering how good the food was.

Diner Review №106

Food was great except when i called in a order for take out i originally ordered a red snapper dish which they said would take 45 min! I get a call back like 10 min later sayin they do not have anymore red snapper so i asked for the cod only for the lady to tell they were out of that also! I wind up settling for prawns which was great but not what i was lookin to order.

Diner Review №107

Delicious and great service!

Diner Review №108

Diner Review №109

Very poor customer service. We waited an hour and 10 minutes for our food without even receiving our appetizers. They wanted us to pay for the food before we ever received, tasted or saw it. When we asked to adjust the bill, the person addressing us was very rude. Told us to take it or leave it. Would never recommend this restaurant because of the treatment received.

Diner Review №110

We had a couple curry dishes and a couple noodle dishes was one of the best ive had. Great service friendly staff.

My fiancee & I met up with two friends here because it was halfway between them and us. Outside, the area is a bit run down - not much going on there it seemed and some of the shops were closed permanently. The interior of this place is a little better, but still rough. Walking towards the back, the ugly carpet just kind of ends in a frayed mess leaving a couple tables in the very back sitting on concrete. Kind of strange, as though a renovation was started and they just bailed on it. The lighting is not very welcoming. The menu is a bit hard to read because the font, while cute, does not lend itself to easy perusing.

As for the food itself, it was just decent. All together we had 5 dishes. The Tod-mun fish cakes to start were a bit weird: very oily and spongy, but tasted okay. Pad Thai was good - my favorite of the dishes. The pineapple fried rice was just okay. I only took a bite of the other 2 dishes. One was a broad noodle dish and it wasn't bad. the other was the BBQ chicken dish, which was pretty weak. All of them were skimpy on the meat. The "prawns" were really just jumbo shrimp and not much chicken all around.

I should also note that I ordered "medium" spicy and while I enjoyed the level of heat, it was definitely closer to a "hot" - the girls thought it was too spicy. So be aware.

All in all, it was decent food, but the atmosphere could use a little work. The lone server was nice, but was more focused on take out orders than the few people in the restaurant. Seemed like most people just order takeout here, and I would recommend just sticking with that approach.

Diner Review №122

Diner Review №123

Tasty food and great value for your money. Got takeout here and staff went out of their way to make me and my girlfriend comfortable while waiting for food. Pineapple fried rice is the bomb and yummy curry

Diner Review №124

this place has some of the best thai food i have had in a while. they have the best decert deep fryed bananas with nutela.

Diner Review №125

Its authentic pure secret hole to dine in for. Prepare for a 30-40min w8 but believe me well worth the wait. The staff members give u the warmest welcome from start to finish . Dam im hungry typing this..i got the red snapper tamarind for under 10bucks. The beef larb being thai style and all was lips smacking. Let alone the papaya salad Laos style zomg..then their red curry so dam deeeleeecious..got me feeling blue not having anyleft overs. Dont be discourage of the area. For the peoples there are just minding their own. Hey give a buck or 2 to them wont hurt. And sametime they are keeping the streets safe to roam. Cheers 😇

Diner Review №126

Very good food tasty and good portion

Diner Review №127

Slow. Not great taste. Inexpensive food probably drives top rated reviews.

Diner Review №128

Excellent place. I would suggest making a reservation. I had fish tacos- excellent! The salmon is good as well. Upperscale place.

Diner Review №129

The manager crafted very large, dangerously delicious Manhattans for us! The bar was so cozy by the fire, that we ordered lunch there. My husband ordered the shrimp with scallops. They were cooked and seasoned perfectly. Served over a bed of lightly sautéed spinach with a delicate cream sauce. Came with fresh baked, chewy bread sticks. My Cobb Salad was...

Diner Review №130

Diner Review №131

Very spicy pad Thai. I love it. They also strive to remember their customers. I returned for the 1st time after a 6 month hiatus. They remembered my order even though it was only my 3rd time ever.

The portion sizes are good

Diner Review №132

Is a great hang out

Diner Review №133

Best restaurant in town. Love it!
The guys are super helpful and friendly. Definately, my goto place. Good price for good food and good portions! Medium runs a little hot but that's the way thai food should be.

Diner Review №134

Yeah take it from the guy coming into town from Colorado. You can't go wrong here ! Food was amazing, tons of flavor, and very warm setting.

Failure to update google about this, before I drove all the way from Vacaville to eat here.

Diner Review №140

!! Great food Great Prices!. Best I have found in years since i stopped going to my favorite place in the city king of... because the roaches were getting brazen.

Diner Review №141

Many vegetarian dishes to choose from, each just as delicious as the next. Good service whether to go or eat in. Been here several times. Always delicious.

Diner Review №142

Good food. Just not as spicy as I like. No fountain soda or regular ice tea is a minus for us

Diner Review №143

This place is Simply DELICIOUS!!!!! My brother, sister and I brought our families here for our Mom's 80th birthday. They wanted Thai, and there are only 2 choices in Vallejo. This restaurant, hands down, by far, is the best Thai in the area. Parking was at a premium, but the food excelled beyond belief.
A small, quaint eatery with robust flavor......a very pleasant surprise!!!!! Every dish was excellent....even the pickiest eaters of our family loved their cooking.....you should have your own memories here.

Thank you to the authors of previous reviews, we wouldve probaby overlooked this gem and missed out on a great experience with phenominal taste, in our own backyard. Thank you Steve, and Bao!

Diner Review №144

Exceptional food, Duck curry is fabulous...unique BBQ style, eggplant green curry is excellent, coconut curries yum yum...and finish with the special coconut ice cream...service is extra pleasant and professional...hidden treasure!

Diner Review №145

The chicken curry dish paired with pineapple rice was exquisite.

Diner Review №146

You can go anywhere for pad thai and yellow curry. But the hidden treasure at this place is the Laotian dishes.

These guys make *Lao style* som tam. With the stinky fish sauce, like it's supposed to be. And they can do it nuclear-spicy for you. It's quite a surprise to find it outside the cities. The best meat dish to mellow the burn is mu yang. Wash it all down with palm juice. Yes, they have that.

I take away one star for no sticky rice.

Diner Review №147

Best Thai Food in Solano County!!

Diner Review №152

Great restaurant in Vallejo. Service is great, clean, fast, good atmosphere. Price is right.

Diner Review №153

Sooooo Awesome!!
Great Staff. Fast, fresh so many amazing flavors. These guys know what they are doing.

Diner Review №154

Awesome food! Awesome service! We were visiting the area from KC, so glad we stopped.

Diner Review №155

Seriously the best Thai in Vallejo. Nothing but good service and good food.

Diner Review №156

Decent Thai food in close vicinity to Touro! While the food and prices were decent, I was rather disappointed by the speed of service! There was probably a 20 minute wait between ordering and being seated. (During this time, there was only one other table taken too)

I had the chance to try two of their noodle dishes!
Pad Thai: This was a pretty typical pad thai in decent portions. Their flavoring was pretty typical, and thankfully not too salty. There weren't very many pieces of chicken however, and my friend nearly thought he ordered vegetarian by accident until he found one.
Pad Siam: The portion for this is a tad smaller than the pad thai, and the noodles were not quite I expected. They use what tasted like instant-ramen noodles, but complemented it with decent seasoning.
Thai iced tea: Strong iced tea as usual - I would recommend asking for light ice or you might end up with a glass of ice.

Overall, food is not bad and I'm just glad that there's a Thai restaurant close to Mare Island. I would recommend watching out for how spicy their food can be though - my limit is their medium spiciness and I can tolerate a reasonable amount of heat. The service was on the slower side, but we were on a study break so we enjoyed the time off.

Diner Review №157

When you want some good Thai curry, there's not many options around Vallejo... so when I found this place and sat down for the first time.. I wasn't expecting too much.

Needless to say, I was blown away by the flavors they bring in.. the food is delicious, and they provide great service. Other places around here just don't fulfill my expectations.. This place is a must-try.
