My husband and I ordered Large Tom Yum, with beef (I thought it should be a coconut milk based) it was tomato based. It still was a great dish for a cold, rainy day! I also ordered Red Curry Duck with the brown rice. It was a big portion as well and very tasty! My husband ordered the Pad Thai. When it comes to Thai food, he's a snob. He was very pleased with the quality of Pad Thai! We will definitely return to this restaurant! I would also like to note the excellent service, atmosphere and friendly waitresses. Also, before our orders came, they brought delicious treats - tofu soup with some sort of fries.

Great vegan options, we ordered vegan dishes- papaya salad without fish sauce, fresh rolls, and pumpkin curry with tofu.

Everything tasted fresh and delicious, the papaya salad was a great portion size with mixed greens/salad/papaya/tomato/peanuts/green beans, and a delicious sauce.
The fresh rolls were amazing with the avocado and mint added, with other fresh greens/cabbage, and more with the dipping sauce. The pumpkin curry had a good spice, about a medium spice level with great vegetables/pumpkin and basil.

Overall, everything was great-food and service with a smile -the authentic Thai experience. I’ll be back again.

Came to Tahoe for the first time and was craving Thai food. Didn't want to eat too close to the Marriot village area because it's impossible get reservations that don't have a 45 min wait. So we drove a little further down and found Orchids. We were impressed by the food, it was so tasty. 4 stars for the service because they didn't answer the phone. They will make food without fish oil per request.

Secondly, something that's good to know is that they don't serve alcohol or let you bring it in.

The place isn’t as busy which made it easy to order food and get our food out at a decent time. The price and taste of the food was on par with each other. Not overly price for its good taste. I had the papaya salad with a level 2 spicyness and that was a good kick to my mouth. I can handle my spice, but I’ve had other level two spice and they aren’t as spicy as this place. So be careful about your spice level. Also had the Pad Thai, not bad at all. It was delicious. I also ordered the spicy basil with an over easy egg with it and it was good. I recommend you to order that together and ask for some red peppers with fish sauce and pour it all together with rice to eat. That was delicious! I do recommend this place to try!

Orchid's Authentic Thai Cuisine is a Thai restaurant serving delicious and fresh Thai dishes! I've tried the Chicken Satay, Pad Ke Mao, Tom Yum Soup Large with Pork, Chicken Wings and Spicy Stir Fry Crispy Pork Belly. The Chicken Satay was tender, sweet, and when dipped into the peanut sauce twisting it into a buttery, nutty, chicken satay, it is the best chicken satay I've eaten in the US, not overly cooked or dry. The Tom Yum soup has a lot of ingredients, including tomatoes, onions, lemongrass, mushroom, and the meat of your choice (I had pork) and the taste embodied the perfect spiciness for almost anyone to enjoy while being a harmony of sweet, sour, and savory. The Pad Ke Mao had many ingredients but tasted alright (savory and slightly sweet), Stir fry Basil Crispy Pork Belly had an interesting taste (reminded me of tofu, good to me but definitely an acquired taste) was really crispy, not too fatty and the crispy chicken wings had a perfect crunch while being flavorful and juicy. Unfortunately, I could not try their desserts as they were all sold out. Overall, Orchid's Authentic Thai Cuisine was my favorite Thai restaurant at Lake Tahoe and I will revisit it to try new dishes and those seemingly popular desserts!

Such a great S Lake Tahoe spot! The food is delicious and the staff work VERY hard to move quickly and keep everyone happy (and they succeed!). Plus, the water is delicious!!! Great for vegetarians and vegans (we are a family of 7, with 2 vegetarians and 1 vegan). Pad See Eew, pot stickers, and red curry got the most votes for best dish among our crew, but everything was tasty. We’ll be back!!!

Orchid’s has been my favorite Thai place in Tahoe for many years. The staff are so incredibly kind and go above and beyond to make your experience great every time. Their food is super delicious too. I recommend the pad see ew, pumpkin curry and crab rangoons.

They had more Thai dishes than many other Thai Restaurants. It does cater to the mainstream so the hardcore Thai connoisseur might not be satisfied.

My wife and I go in for lunch fairly frequently. The staff are always friendly and welcoming! They occasionally surprise us with tastes of special meals. The Thai iced tea is epic and their prices are very reasonable!

I had a disappointing experience with the food at this location. The dishes lacked authenticity, and the level 5 spicy option was surprisingly bland. Additionally, the rice was overly sticky and lacked the distinct Thai flavor I was expecting.

The thai noodles selection is the best tasting, especially the pad see you dish. This place is decent and worth a try, but it is very expensive for the dishes. The restaurant is small and the parking lot, but the lot is free parking.

Sorry to say, we were pretty disappointed with our dinner. We have eaten at this restaurant over the years when we come up on vacation. There must be a new chef because the food has gone waaay downhill. We ordered the red curry chicken, spicy basil, and pad woonsen. The pad woonsen was missing 3 of the vegetables listed on the menu description. I inquired about it and the server said they’re out of them, however, both the other dishes had them. She took my plate back to the kitchen where they magically found the vegetables and stirred them into my noodles🤨 after telling her I wanted to order a different dish. The spicy basil stir fry and the pad woonsen were REALLY OILY! We eat Thai food often and have never had it so oily. The red curry had nice flavor, but the portion was pretty small for their increased prices.
Would recommend finding another Thai restaurant.

This is THE BEST Thai food place in South Lake Tahoe!! Everything we had was DELICIOUS and the service was lightning fast! Our waters were never more than half full, the Tom Kha was spectacular, and the Mango Curry fantastic! We’ll be back probably tomorrow!

My experience was basically a scam in my view. Food was mediocre at best. Asked for a beer, which was immediately brought without mentioning any price (later I saw that it’s not at the menu), and when the bill came I realized that one (!) beer was 15 USD without tax. Not ok at all in my opinion and not recommended.

Unethical restaurant that is a total scam. They switched out the fresh trout we bought in from nearby trout farm, giving us 1/4 of the fish that's mostly bones while charging us $16 for preparation. At the end we spent $30 ($15 cost of the fish from farm) here for a dish of bones. Avoid at all cost.

Excellent food and service

The food is delicious, easily one of the best Thai restaurants I've been to. My only gripe is they used to have this Silver Noodle Soup, with this peanut broth base, that is one of the best things I've ever eaten. It was perfect for after a long day of skiing, or really at any other time because it was so fantastic. But sadly it is no longer on the menu. The rest of the food is still great, but I still dream of that soup.

Cheat customers. It looks many people choose this restaurant so we go. But we were so depressed. High cost in the restaurant. I ordered fried rice . choose beef and extra shrimp. But they gave me.fried rice with shrimp. egg yellow onion. No.meat in the rice. They charged me $16.95+4=20.95…I talk to them no meat on the rice we should have refund.They told me if I want beef I should pay 16.95+8=24.95. So expensive i have ate a plate of fried rice. They cheat customers. I ordered basil eggplant and spicy lamb. the two menu are almost the same. very salty.Don't come this restaurant again.

The food here is amazing! We came two nights in a row during our vacation! We loved the crab rangoons! Seriously. You must order them as your appetizer! And we loved the yellow and mango curry. The server recommended the mango curry. We also tried the pangang and avocado curry. All were so good! Great service, Beautiful location and ambiance was peaceful.

Those stars are only for the people. The food was way too unpleasant, never ate such awful food at a Thai restaurant! From the soup, fried rice(which was covered with vegetables because we asked for a veggie fried rice), Pad see ew(loaded with soya sauce and oyster sauce).

The service was extremely poor! My mother-in-law cannot have any spicy food due to a health issue. We were told her dish had no Thai chili's but later learned that they add chilis to all their curry base but don't state that on their menu. Their only resolution was to add more coconut milk to the already spicy curry, which would not work since she can't have ANY capsaicin.
This, plus removing food plates and glasses while we were still eating and drinking from them, dropping plates and glasses, made this dining experience a nightmare!

The head male host/waiter along with the female waitress with glasses were very unprofessional and borderline rude!
Avoid this place if you want a pleasant dining experience. It is highly unorganized and the staff curt and unprofessional.

Vegan friendly!! Menu says that most items can be made vegan, just make sure to ask. I had the green curry and it was great. We had a large/challenging group with kids and dietary restrictions and the staff was so kind and helpful with getting us all what we wanted! Only negative was that food took a long time (45 minutes) but they did warn us that it would be a while when we ordered. Overall great experience!

This place is amazing. We started going probably 10 years ago. Now they are very busy. The food is delicious and pretty affordable.

Food was okay. But we (party of 5) were very disappointed because they added "gratuity", a "gratuity tax", and charged us for an item we did not order. On top of that there is a line item to add gratuity. I felt taken advantage of thinking customers won't notice if they charge. They deducted the extra dish after we complained. I won't be going back here again but if you do check your bill. We went to other restaurants in the area and we did not see any gratuity tax added to our bill anywhere else.

Oh my God, we are Thai people, a group of Thai people who grew up eating Thai food. Our family came to this restaurant for dinner for the first time. That evening we decided to come to this family restaurant. We were not disappointed in the taste of the food. The service of the staff is very good. and long waits during dinner like normal restaurants food prices are not expensive Delicious Thai food, the best in Lake Tahoe I've ever had. Nice thai restaurant at Lake Tahoe. It was not busy when we visit. Food take a while to come up. Interestingly, they serve penang curry on a plate instead of a bowl and it is not soupy. I like the Orchid fried rice. Penang curry is like a peanut sauce mix. This is the first time I have had penang curry so cannot compare. Pad kee mo is good but the rice noodle seems not that fresh. I think it was because it has been a while or was kept in the fridge. Very friendly server.

Dropped by for lunch and wasn’t disappointed. The fish cake was a tasty appetizer to start with.
The Hawaiian seafood soup was great to have on a cold day. Taste was ok. Never seen pineapple being used in this dish and could have been more sour flavor. Rama Curry was full of peanut flavor taste.

Very good Thai food. But don’t go on Tuesdays because one of the other Thai restaurants is closed so they are super busy and it can take over an hour to get your food.

Great food! The white orchid soup is to die for. So good. I also got sticky rice and mango for dessert. The staff is super nice and the service is fast. Definitely will go back next time we're in Tahoe.

Excellent food. Highly recommended for authentic Thai food in lake tahoe

Prices when you go pick up compared to prices listed online for what I ordered were completely wrong! Much more EXPENSIVE! Food is pretty good though. But, I do not like being tricked!

My coworker recommended me this place, so I went to give a try when I took vacation at Tahoe. The food is delicious, the Coconut soap is so good and the best we like, especially during the winter time. The red curry and glass noddle are also our favorite. Couple appetizers we ordered are also good. Overall the food is so good. The price is much cheaper than we expected. Highly recommended.

Food used to be way better. Now it seems like it's a tourist trap. Pad Thai is about as simple as you can get and it all tasted the same, every part of it, even the onions. Service while extremely friendly was extremely lacking.

Great, both red curry and pad kee Mao were excellent. Only problem was that the menus have incorrect prices, kind of weird, but I guess supply chain issues or whatever.

An adorable little restaurant with great food and friendly staff. We stopped in for lunch and were seated and served quickly.

Seriously under staff! Only one man who responded for seating customers, order food and deliver food. If you are ok to wait 30 mins to be seated ( even there are tables available). This is a ok place to you.

The food was very good, not the best I’ve had but the service is phenomenal and the staff are so friendly I’ve decided to make this my go place for Thai cuisine. My Thai has the worst service and is so busy long waites and food not as good. Best Thai Tea in a while. Thanks for the great service and wonderful time. Best Thai in Tahoe.

I always form my first impression of a Thai restaurant by ordering chicken Pad Thai because I love it and it gives me a benchmark to decide if I want to try more. Orchid did not disappoint. I'm excited to go back and sample a few more items off the menu.

We had our wedding catered by Orchid and it was amazing!! They were very professional and nice to us and our needs. Our guests loved the food choice which, if you have been to weddings, catering is always hit or miss (e.g. lots of rubber chicken and cold veggies). People loved the food! One piece of advice is to order the mango sticky rice, it was a hit!

Also, be aware that this is a restaurant and that is their primary business. So, be nice to the fact that they are dealing with a lot of customers and you!

Pad thai was very good. Service was slow, but everywhere in Tahoe is incredibly packed and slow right now. Was thankful we could even get in!

Food was good. One of my favorite pad thais in town. When I picked my food up It was package conveniently in a box which is nice to carry. However, when I got home I noticed that it was a raw chicken box that my cooked food was sitting inside of. Not very smart especially with the quality of chicken these days. Salmonella poisoning is not fun and could possibly be fatal to my 7 month old son.

The Pad Thai is beyond 5 star !!! I’ve eaten Pad Thai at many places, many States. Definitely ranks as one of my top 3. Ordered takeout so I can only say service was friendly, quick and delivered to my car. Most definitely recommend and will return on our next Tahoe visit!

As a Thai food lover, I can only give 2 stars the most. Some sauces are over used! We had to wait 45 minutes for food but they mentioned it. Nice people but I wish the taste is better.

Their crab fried rice is so good here! I heard from some other reviews that these maybe imitation crab but glad that its real, but not high quality crab meat used. The rest of the fried rice was very good including the eggs. The inside looked pretty nice as well with the coloured ceiling and the thai decor around. They also got outdoor dining with a homemade shelter with parts probably bought from the ACE hardware down the street. The servers were really slow to respond but eventually came around to everyone probably once every 20 minutes.

Had garden basil vegetable dish. Little spicy, but good. My other Conrad's said it is ok
