Family owned authentic Thai cuisine serving San Francisco residents and tourists for the last 25 years.
I did saw this restaurant while walking the street, I wanted to try it since I loved Thai food. With the prices they have I’m expecting a descent portion, I ordered papaya salad half of it is lettuce , and spicy seafood ( 4 baby shrimp, 6 very tiny scallops, 2 mussels and 2 squid tentacles) so order vegetables with a little bit of seafood and order of rice basically it’s ala cart. Too bit pricey for the serving they have. Taste and flavor is just okay.
This special deal is for $17. What a deal!
The flavors are amazing, the portion is big and the presentation is pretty!
The staff are nice and patient.
I was roaming around trying to figure out where to eat my first meal of the day and this did not disappoint at all.
It was delicious!
The Thai restaurant I usually go to was closed so I thought I’d give this place a try and I was not disappointed! The food was delicious and everything was cooked authentically! I didn’t dine in but there seems to be a decent amount of seating and the staff was working together so the flow looked immaculate. The wings were nice and crispy and the Pad prik king was perfect! I will absolutely come back and visit.
Good service, food overall was ok. Tom Yum Goong had a good amount of shrimp but not spicy, Crab spring roll was not good - basically vegetarian spring rolls with a small piece of crab meat on top - not recommended, Seafood curry was lacking in seafood, small little scallops, 3 shrimps and lots of veggies hence pricey - tasted ok, and ice coffee was too much ice so by the time I am half way it was getting tasteless.
The Old Siam Thai Restaurant in San Francisco CL is truly among the finest Thai dining spots in town. My experience with their fried rice and crispy chicken was exceptional, especially noting that it had the best crispy chicken. If I return to SF, I will undoubtedly revisit this restaurant. The staff is commendable, and the venue maintains a clean and tidy ambiance. And they have vegetarian options as well.

Foods great wait time terrible.
Do not dine here. The people are scammers and the food is abysmal.
If you’re visiting and want
authentic Thai, this is not it. The dishes we ordered were very poorly made—my pad kra pow (basil stir fry) was full of just soy sauce and a few sad pieces of bell pepper, with no garlic or red chili or basil for that matter. The sticky rice was so hardened I couldn’t even break it apart with a spoon.
The service was extremely rude. The waitress was standoffish from the start and spoke to my poor old father with such disrespect as he struggled with ordering. We felt uncomfortable the entire time because of their unprovoked attitude. She did not even give us water until I asked for it halfway through the meal.
They automatically added 15% gratuity to the bill with NO prior notice. We were a group of 3. I always tip service workers, even if the service and food were terrible as was the case here. However, it is extremely disingenuous to forcefully add gratuity without any explanation or disclaimer. Then to react defensively and force the customer to pay the tip as per their undeclared “policy” just constitutes a scam. It seems the workers feel no accountability to their customers since they receive their tips anyway, which would explain the bad service. When I brought it up to the waitress, she said she would ask the owner/manager to clarify. However, the manager avoided answering to why their automatic gratuity “policy” was undeclared and not possible to opt out of. He sent another waiter instead, who just shrugged. Of course we paid and left because the waiters shouldn’t have to answer to this. But very disappointed and ruined what was supposed to be a nice night with my parents .
Idk how this doesn’t have 5 stars.
We fell in love with this restaurant.
Papaya salad, mild spicy level.
Red curry with shrimp. BEST I’ve ever had.
Mango Sticky rice
CRAB FRIED RICE.
Chicken pad thai noodles.
Just go. You will not be disappointed.
Great experience. No wait for a table. Servers were nice. Service was fast. The food was delicious! Highly recommend!
อาหารอร่อย ถึงรสชาติไทยเลยค่ะ คุ้มราคาที่จ่ายพนักงานบริการดี บรรยากาศดี
The good is amazing, I eat here every month when I come to the city. The Pad Thai and Pnang Curry are FANTASTIC! Good lunch specials too!
Quelle belle expérience ! Des l’accueil on nous sourit! Les plats st arrivés rapidement et confirme à nos attentes ! Bcp de goûts et de couleurs , merci 🤩
Amazing food and nice staff! Definitely recommend!
Happened upon the Old Siam by chance. Daughter, born and raised in Bangkok is over and we were down at Fishermen’s Wharf parked beside another Thai restaurant that was closed. She wanting to go to Union Square we ended up again parking by the Old Siam. Not looking the best of places, she sure is a beauty. Daughter is very fussy when it comes to food, and more so Western Thai Food. We both agree, best Thai food found in the US so far and we have tried many. Aloi Mak Mak Krap :-)
Un trozo de Tailandia en San Francisco. Te hacen viajar a Bangkok a un precio muy razonable.
Excellent food with an abundance of delicious flavors, and everything seemed super-fresh - even the vegetables remained crispy. Also, the service is great and the prices are reasonable. Highly recommended!

Average ambience, average taste!
The lady was rude but the food was good
Great food. I hope they add American beers specifically on tap
Food misses some Thai signature, do not have any spicy at all. They even do not ask about the level of spicy for us to chose
Automatic add gratuity 15% without asking any words
Came here yesterday the woman server was so rude when I entered. They still had an hour and 10 mins till closing time and the server told me I couldn’t choose where I wanted to sit because of this and I could only sit at 1 table that was right by the door (mind you the store was 75% empty). After ordering and finishing, I asked if she could bring the bill afterwards as she was clearing the table and she answered rudely and annoyingly and said “I’m holding all the plates can’t you see? Can’t you wait?”. I said ok and told her I meant afterwards because I was trying to be mindful that they were going to be closing soon (20 mins remained till closing at the time). Overall, very rude server and i will never visit this restaurant again because I felt very disrespected and didn’t feel welcome at all. Plus, they charged a 15% tip automatically even though I was a party of 1 which is okay if at least the server was respectful.
The food was average and the mandatory tip of 15% in the form of gratuity was uncalled for. Overall a bad experience.
Good service, food overall was ok. Food - depends on what you order. Service is top notch. Always service with a smile
We walked in here for some dinner while staying at the nearby hotel. The lady up front was very friendly and helpful. We got the panang and green curry to go along with the fried banana roti with coconut ice cream. Let me tell you, that coconut ice cream is beyond creamy and delicious. I might stop back in just for that. The rest of the food was prepared very quickly, super hot, and yummy!

Muy agradable el lugar y la comida deliciosa. El servicio es a muy bueno y el precio se me hace normal. Recomendado si te gusta la comida Thai o gustas probarla.
I needed to find a place to eat a late lunch and fortunately for me, Old Siam Thai Restaurant is right across the street from the Nikko Hotel. Normally, when I go to a Thai restaurant, I order the Pad Thai but this time I decided to be a little adventurous and instead ordered the dish #79, Gai Himapan and I am really glad I did. Less than 10 minutes later, the server brought out this beautiful creation. I couldn't wait to dig in. It was a delicious mixture of stir fried chicken with bell pepper and cashew nuts that gave it a wonderful sweet and sour taste that complemented itself perfectly with a mountain of rice. I would also like to mention how attentive the server was. He came around a few times to refill my water and I nodded enthusiastically when he asked how i liked the food. Would highly recommend this place.
Good Value for money!
Happy that I ended up here as the restaurant on other side of street was busy. Welcoming and amazing customer service.
Very delicious food! I ordered fried rice with tofu and it was cooked to perfection. Loved it! They continued to check if I needed anything else. Good service.
We loved this place; the staff is very kind and the food is excellent! The prices are very good and the service is quick! Will be back!
Not bad thai food.
Worst Thai Food I’ve ever had (and I love Thai food). Could not finish eating.
Pad Thai così così, prezzi sopra alla media. Personale gentile.
Delicious 😋 the coconut soup with lemongrass is magical
Pad Thai was sooo 🔥!
Very solid food, fantastic & friendly service & a nice atmosphere.
<10 minutes for a walk-in takeout order of the best Pad Kee Mao I've had yet. Unpretentious, flavorful, and spiced just right without overpowering the sauce. And a good price to boot. Highly recommended for a quick & tasty meal!
We ordered to take out. The restaurant inside looks appealing. Food was very good.
Decided to try based on reviews; did not disappoint!! Walked in, ordered bokchoy/beef, green beans/chicken and a side of rice for take-out. Was ready in 5 minutes! Ingredients were fresh, taste was superb and portions were perfect. Recommend AND will go back again during our SF visit! Oh, and very friendly staff!!
Best Egg Fried Rice
Amazing food, friendly staff and overall a 10/10. Would recommend the squid ink pasta, cool dish!
Great food, fast service, did not leave hungry 🤙🏽
Heerlijk Thais gegeten. Gewoon een gezellig eettentje. Vegetarische keuzes genoeg
Great food
Great food for a reasonable price! Friendly Staff, just didn't appreciate them clearing your table while you are still eating.
Delicious authentic no nonsense Thai. Eat here without pretension.
Sehr gutes Essen und Preis stimmt auch. Essen sofort erhalten und freundlich bedient worden. Kann ich weiterempfehlen.
We very much enjoyed our lunch here. 😋
Very bad service from this old man who took my order. Spoke with high tone of voice and rude.
This restaurant is a COMPLETE ripoff. I ordered off the online menu which said the lunch I ordered should be about $18, with tip. Did a pickup order only to pay $30 for pad thai and some veggie rolls. When I asked about the online menu, they said "someone created the menu for us, it isn't us." Quite suspicious that someone would go to such great lengths for a restaurant. I never got a breakdown of my bill, but now seeing everyone's comments about the tip, I wonder if one was added in to my bill as well. The food was fine, but certainly not worth the cost.
It's no frills here, but we loved the food! Excellent and very reasonable pricing.
Worst Thai food experience I’ve encountered. Mediocre food, expensive and extremely small portions served. Check your bill because they will instantly add almost 20 pct gratuity on top of a 5 dollar self tip so be aware of their tricks to get more money out of you. They have increased their prices a lot, almost 30-40pct more but reduced portion sizes a lot also. Food is just average and nothing special. The pork fried rice was floating in oil, left a thick layer of oil aftertaste. The basil duck ala carte had 4-5 pieces of duck in it, ridiculously small portion for the price they charge, was expecting a whole fish for the spicy whole fried trout but it looked like half of a small fish when it came. While eating we heard the people next to us also commenting that the portions were extremely small for the prices they charge. Their staff is also rude and disrespectful. I had asked for some hot sauce from a fat male staff, he never brought it to us and when I asked again he said loudly, can’t you see that I’m busy ! When I looked around there was only 3 other small tables occupied. Disgusted by his horrible bad attitude. Won’t ever be back.
When the owner of the restaurants ask you for more tip when paying the bill , even so he looks uninterested&miserable when he brings you your food ,with zero passion for the job or the client ,then you know that you come to the wrong place . Food quality has gone done as well.
This place caught my eye as the outside is not all that nice and it seemed like exactly the kind of "hole in the wall" place that provides excellent food at a good price.
Inside was much nicer than I expected. The service was great and the food was excellent. The prices were very good.
Highly recommend!
Quick service, best spicy eggplant dish ever.
Food is good but they placed a 18% gratuity for a party of two. I challenged it and the clerk claimed that after covid its mandatory. I wasn't having it. He resisted and had an attitude but refunded it. It's over priced already then they are pushy for tips. Most places will charge for party 4 or more. This place charges for 2. Try out king of Thai. It's walking distance from here.
Convenience of location is most of what you pay for. 18% gratuity is included automatically but it's not obvious unless you happened to notice. I called out the sneakiness of that tactic and got a smug chuckle from the staff. Hence the 3 stars regretfully.
Food was very good. We had vegetarian pad Thai and a special of squid ink pasta with seafood and vegetables. Both were delicious and reasonably priced. Staff was very friendly. Atmosphere and decor are nothing special but not the reason to eat here.
Dont fall for their tricks. For 2 people, they automatically added an 18% gratuity then they brought a second bill with another $5 tip added automatically. Then when they ran my credit card, they had the audacity to give me a copy to sign with a blank line requesting an additional tip. Dont fall for their scams. I suggest you find a different restaurant.
Had the most amazing Thai massage with hot compress here. Highly recommend especially if you have high tension areas to be stretched out.
Don’t ask any questions, because you’ll be put in your place quickly with a dismissive “this is how it’s made in Thailand.” - Pad Thai with literally no spice. I had to call the waiter back over to make sure I didn’t miss something and was told
its traditionally served with no spice. Oh and Pad Thai is traditionally served with spaghetti style round noodles as well. That’s right, every other Thai restaurant you’ve eaten at was inauthentic Americanized trash. Never mind the fact that I’ve spent a good amount of time in Thailand multiple visits and have Thai friends that immediately responded with “it’s traditionally flat rice noodles” when I was left questioning my memory. Definitely check out some other options in the area. Not worth the money and dismissive, apathetic attitudes.
Mediocre Thai restaurant and should not be located in the heart of San Francisco. It was a very disappointing experience. I never had pad thai served with angel hair noodles. I’ve also had better thai food jn PHOENIX ARIZONA! The pad thai was also very bland with a strong fish sauce smell. Also when we questioned a couple items on the menu, the server just kept telling us this is how it was served in Thailand. My boyfriend had been in Thailand 4x and the food that we were served were nothing close to its authenticity.
Closed Sunday at dinnertime .
FYI, Automatically 18% tip added. Food was ok.
The BEST THAI FOOD THROUGH MY TRAVELS!!! Great service, family owned and when I sY this woman cooks with LOVE.. It is definitely food to your SOUL....Soul Food- Thai Style....🙃🙃🙃
Tastes of authentic thai dishes. First time doing a takeaway and blown away by the lovely flavours and portion sizes. The chicken was still crisp even after the next 15 mins. Old Siam Chicken Fried Rice (USD16) and Mixed Vegetables w Tofu stir fry (USD14) are pictured. 10/10 recommended!
Excelente atención y excelente sabor de los alimentos. En general las instalaciones súper limpias y el personal muy amable. Lo recomiendo
Had the Garlic Jumbo Prawns and Green Curry with beef. Delicious. Curry was nice and spicy, beef and veggies were cooked perfectly. The prawns were crispy, crunchy and had the right amount of garlic. First time here, will definitely return.
Awesome
The gratuity was added TWICE to our bill. (the first bill already include tax and 18% gratuity, but the final bill request for gratuity again) we did noticed that but the staff was very rude and made us tip twice.
Food made me sick.
Salad was quite spicy and the curry was average.
Service was okay. They also added a 18% gratuity by default for a party of 2!
The chicken and eggplant was good enough. The wings had a strong pre-frozen yucky taste.
Loved it, hot soup on a rainy day!
The guy with glasses is terribly rude! He is the one in charge. We asked for spice level for one of the dishes because other Thai restaurants my friends and I have been to (even in the same area) have different spice levels we can choose from. Regardless, we asked a reasonable question especially since people cant handle a lot of spice. Without answering our question, he immediately judged us saying, "you must have not had Thai food before because Thai food only has one spice." He went on to give us attitude and assume we have no idea what we're talking about since we are young adults. We let him know that we do not appreciate his customer service but he continued to argue with us and ultimately kick us out. This person cannot take constructive feedback and gets defensive when he's told that his attitude is not "okay". Additionally, he is rude to his workers. My friends and I have come to this place a lot since we were young but after multiple accounts of this behavior, the food for its price is not worth this treatment.
Food is quite good.
I used to go to this restaurant every day for years, and I recently got kicked out with no warning.
How I am now treated is extremely disappointing.
I’ve ordered take out here multiple times and it’s always amazing. Fantastic authentic food at a great price.
No frills just great food, period.
It’s a family run business too and there’s a certain warmth you get from that atmosphere. 10/10 recommend for a casual meal!
I had no expectations going into this restaurant. Being so tired though I forgot to take pictures but the food presentation was above average. The pad-thai was very delicious.
Very satisfied with this lovely restaurant. Welcoming hard working staff, clean space and great tasting food.
Even though an order note was missed the establishment is definitely worth 5 stars 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 💫
I ordered from the lunch special menu
I was given the egg rolls instead of the shrimp rolls ordered
I went for the bbq pork which came with egg fried rice and vegetable pad Thai.
I added the Tom yum hot and sour vegetable soup 🍲 which was amazing!
I had the Thai iced tea with my meal and requested another for takeaway :)
Total $33.71
A bit on the pricey side for just a quick lunch- not a huge problem as all very tasty! I would definitely dine here again next time I’m in SFO ✈️ x 🫶🏽
They said they have a dine in limit of 10 dollars per person for larger groups. The seats were not cleaned properly and there were food pieces on the seats. Ended up getting takeout.
We were in town for the long weekend and had dinner here and loved it. We made sure to stop back for lunch before we went to the airport.
Great food!
Great food, service could be friendlier.
Yelled at me because I let them know there is a seafood and nut allergy in the party. I ordered duck fried rice I think I saw two little pieces of duck. Another person ordered a duck only entree, there was so little duck he had to buy food elsewhere after.
Das Essen war lecker! Die Preise sind in Ordnung. Personal sehr freundlich. Kann man auf jeden Fall ausprobieren.
Loved this place. In town for a day looking for great Thai food to eat for lunch and was recommended to go here by hotel staff. For $15 lunch special got an entree, 2 egg rolls, rice and pad Thai. For an extra $3 got a cup of soup too. Everything was delicious. Thom Ka soup was some of the best I’ve had. If this was in my city I’d eat here once a week
Delicious, flavorful authentic Thai food! Vegan/vegetarian options. The restaurant is clean & quaint. Very friendly, nice staff. I highly recommend!
Loved it!
We found a piece of metal wool in our yellow curry. Like, the metal wool you use to wash pans with. Very unsanitary. Food tasted good though... before that part.
4.5 stars. You know the food was good when you got all sweaty from eating. As someone who has been to Thailand 6 times, I think I can speak a few words about Thai food.
The first thing I have to mention is their service. Everyone was so friendly and this one young server even warned me about the stairs. I ordered pad se-ew, and the signature Thai soup - tom yum soup. It took them about 30 minutes to prepare the food.
The pad se-ew was good. The portion was incredible. However, for the Tom yum soup, the lack of spiciness made the sourness too overwhelming. I even thought it was tomato soup for a second. Maybe they adjusted it to accommodate the local people.
One more thing I wasn’t sure about was that they added 18% tips to any parties. Not a fan of this practice, but good thing the service was good.
It’s was a big portion of disappointment. I was asked if I was ready to order lunch 3 times within 5 minutes, and the restaurant was empty and only closing after dinner. I chose a simple Pad Thai and they immediately said it had to be with chicken or pork because they didn’t cook with shrimp. Then the plate was lacking all the good flavors, just seemed like a bunch of noodles mixed with sweet sauce, very few vegetables, chicken or egg.
I have visited here quite a few times. They have consistently great quality of food during all those visits. On our recent visit we ordered lunch combinations, comes with main dish + fried rice and pad thai with a choice of appetizer for around $15. These days it is a good deal. Service was good and restrooms were clean.
Friendly, great food!
