Warm, narrow eatery offering classic Thai staples such as noodles, pad Thai & curries.
We got the Pad Thai Shrimp and Pineapple Curry Duck and they were both amazing!
The Pad Thai was one of the best I have eaten in San Francisco. The Pineapple Curry Duck was very creamy and a bit spicier than expected, so be sure to ask for a milder version if you're sensitive to heat.
The service was excellent as well.
Thai Cottage is a hole-in-the-wall restaurant very close to Ocean Beach. We ordered the crispy spring rolls which were pretty good. We ordered Thai Basil fried rice, Pad kee mao, Pineapple fried rice, mushroom garlic and Priaw Whan Tofu from the vegetarian menu and Crispy Chicken Fried Rice and Spicy Basil Chicken. We thought the vegetarian food was tastier. I personally liked their Pad Kee Mao the best, it was a little more on the spicier side. The mushroom Garlic was the next best thing, the pineapple fried rice was really good and very different from what I have had in the past. We also got mango sticky rice pudding and mango cheesecake. The stick rice pudding was not that good, but the mango cheesecake was delicious, everyone really enjoyed it and also the presentation was pretty as well.
Side note: we were at a big party with a big order and multiples of some things we had to keep a tab of what all came out as 1-2 dishes were missing.
The verdict:
Would I go back? - Absolutely
Would I order the same thing? - For sure
How's the price? - Definitely fair for what you get, I'd honestly pay more if I had to

This tiny restaurant seriously offers some big flavor. We ordered both the Panang Curry and the Spicy Eggplant and Tofu and we couldn't be happier with what we got. The Panang Curry, which I ordered, was deliciously spicy. Each bite nipped your tongue with heat, but the flavors definitely made the pain worth it.
As for the Spicy Eggplant and Tofu which my girlfriend ordered, it was cooked to perfection. The eggplant wasn't too mushy or hard and the tofu was nice a slightly crisp on the outside and soft inside. Once again, this plate was full of flavor. I'll definitely be ordering this one myself next time.
There was no wait when we arrived, however we filled the last table. The servers were quick to notice us, seat us and take our order. It was clear by the interactions between the employees and the guests that this place had a lot of frequent customers and they were very friendly with them, offering hugs and asking how things have been.
The food took a bit longer than you'd expect at a restaurant, but this didn't go unnoticed by the waitress and she assured us that it was nearly finished and would be out soon. Yeah, it took a while, but the fact that the waitress didn't just ignore us the whole time nor the problem made up for it. Plus, it was very clear when it did arrive that it was fresh and I can honestly say it was well worth the wait.
It's also easily within walking distance of the western part of Golden Gate Park as well as the beach. If you're in the area or just in need for some tasty Thai food that is fairly priced, then definitely hit this place up!
Everything I’ve had here is so delicious! The flavors are complex and really take the palate on a journey. Highly recommend the Tom Yum soup and the red curry. Papaya Salad is also very tasty and refreshing.
After being very pleased with takeout here, I brought a friend to eat a meal in the restaurant. We barely talked once the food arrived because we wanted to focus on the experience that was happening to our taste buds. Do yourself a FLAVOR and eat at Thai Cottage! 💜
A cozy Thai place with absolutely delicious food and fantastic service.
Since the food is halal, we could try some dishes we normally don't get, and man were they good.
If you're seeing this review, take it as a sign to try this place!
Side note: How were the chicken wings so good?
Best Thai food in the Bay, hands down.
It’s so delicious, we had pad thai and calamari.

Sehr leckeres, geschmackvolles Essen! 🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭 schmeckt authentisch genau wie in Thailand und die Bediehnung ist sehr aufmerksam, freundlich! SEHR EMPFEHLENSWERT! 🌾🍚🍛
The pumpkin curry w tofu was magical 🤤
What a great experience! This is my favorite Thai spot in the city. The servers are so kind, the food is excellent. What more could you ask for!

Yummy food and great service. There are options to eat inside or outside.
The most flavourful food - on the first bite, it lights up the senses. We got the pumpkin curry with tofu, shrimp pad Thai and Thai iced coffees. They made mine with decadent coconut milk.
Such a warm and welcoming person working there. 100%%% recommend.
The lady working here was so kind, helpful and gave phenomenal service. She made sure I was enjoying the food and helped me open my coke can because she noticed that I wasn't able to do so myself.

Best Thai food I’ve had!!! Tom Yum soup basically made me cry. Red curry with shrimp was delightful. Good service, decent prices, and cozy vibes. Can’t wait to come back!
Hele leuke zaak. Echte Thaise mensen en het eten was super. Authentiek Thais en dat voor een goede prijs.
Our family enjoyed every single eat as a pleasure. Delicious, rich taste and overwhelming mouth-watering!
Thanks and salutes to your cook(s) and the lovely service!
I love the Larb chicken here. I dream about it when I am away. Love that they will make a thai tea with coconut creme because that drink is like heaven. Coconut curry is really so good. Spice level LOW.
From the moment we walked in the door we knew we had found a special place. Delightful atmosphere, staff, and food.
We love this place. I met my boyfriend here 9 months ago and we decided to go back... I was shocked that the waiter not only remembered us, but where we sat and what we ate! I appreciate the attentiveness and his friendly nature. We believe this place has the best pumpkin curry in SF. We have tried many Thai places over the past 9 months, and we also say at the end of every meal, we should have gone to Thai Cottage! The pumpkin curry always has fresh vegetables and they aren't over cooked or mushy. I love that you can taste all the subtle flavors of the vegetables and that it has some sweet heat to the sauce. We also had the tofu pad Thai, and the tofu was perfectly prepared. I love they give you the option to make it spicy by mixing in the chilies (we always mix them in). My only warning is this place will make it very hard for you to eat Thai food anywhere else in SF. Bonus- it's right off the N Line and the neighborhood has great parking. We love that it's so close to the beach.. perfect way to end a sunset by the ocean. Also, in addition to the wonder ambiance, the price is right!!! We love a deal on SF!

Great Thai food.
I get take out from here about once a week for a year or so. The green and red curries are very flavorful, and the coconut soup on the appetizer menu is amazing. The service is always so kind too.
Food is amazing, cosy ambiance and wonderful people that work there. Must visit!
Quite a nice spot
Delicious!! Highly recommend for a classic authentic Thai experience. Pumpkin curry was our favorite :D
Very good!
The food absolutely exceeded my expectations.
The first bite of the green curry I said "oh wow", and each other dish blew me away. Highly recommend:
- green curry - chicken (menus says spicy, I'd say 1.5/5 spice)
- pad kee mao - chicken (3/5 spice)
- garlic prawns
My favourite was the garlic prawns. We kept scooping up the sauce onto our rice.
The hostess was super lovely, super fast with helping us out.
I recommend this next time you're in the area!!
Food was edible.
They got the order mostly right. One of the entrees had chicken when ordered with tofu.
One person shouldn’t be running the entire establishment. Took about 90 minutes for food to come out when we were the only ones there
Fuegs
Dont sleep on the cottage.
Small restaurant, understaffed
Excellent food, wine, and service. The green curry was fantastic. I hope to become a regular.
This is a fantastic spot to grab some authentic Thai food in outer sunset. The food is delicious and the staff here is extremely welcoming and accommodating. Space is on the smaller side, but nonetheless a cozy environment. Outdoor seating is also available and highly recommended on a sunny day day around sunset to fully enjoy the view. Highly recommend this spot
Food was delicious. Service was excellent. We really enjoyed it. ขอขอบคุณ!
De lo mejor del barrio, todo muy rico, barato y el servicio inmejorable. 10/10
Very friendly service and absolutely delicious food.
Everything is incredibly delicious!
- chicken satay
- crying tiger salad
- garlic noodles w/ bbq chicken
- duck fried rice with pineapple
- chicken priaw wharn
So so so freaking good
The server and host, Air (spelling?), was super friendly and welcoming. Yes, they are slightly understaffed but his effort and kindness made up for it. Would recommend!
Attentive host and delicious food! Good for vegans too
Ultra friendly. Very delicious. Gorgeous interior. Highly recommend checking out this small gem!
Great food but They need to hire more staff, one person running front of house is overwhelming for that employee, they also messed up an orders ingredients, and then served one of my dishes in a plastic container so I assume they also need to hire someone to wash dishes... Most of all this business needs to end their covid policy I saw them lose customers and 100s of dollars in a short amount of time because you can't enter without a vaccine. It's silly the vaccines don't even work what's the point lol.
Had the Phad thai and wings. Food was great! But be prepared to wait. Waited an hour for the food to be ready.
Great spot. Very solid.
Came here randomly after seeing it nearby on Google and was so grateful we ended up here! Partner and I split fried calamari and the pumpkin curry! It was plenty for the two of us and the flavors were incredible! Spice level was just right, veggies cooked to perfection, and portions perfect. Although, I would say the best thing there was the air. Air is the name of our server and he was instantly so funny and kind! Best customer service you can find in SF! I honestly wanna go back just see him again!
Amazing thai food. Amazing service.
They were about to close but happy obliged when our family of 5 requested to dine in. We had shrimp tom yum to start, chicken panang, spicy basil chicken, Thai fried rice and a couple of the chicken pad Thai. I imagine this is how Thai food in Thailand tastes like. We’ve had good Thai cuisine before but this was on another level. What made the meal even better was the AMAZING service we receive from ‘Air’. We felt as if we were guests at his own home. Can’t wait to go back!
Great food and a nice little place. Red curry was nice, as was the glass of Cabernet.
Great place, kind people, excellent thai food!
They are open for take-out and limited outdoor dining. The pad thai and pumpkin curry were delicious. The other establishments on the block also offer outdoor dining. It was like being in Europe.
Delicious and very polite staff! Thank you, we were visiting SF & took a chance on web site, we are happy to return! ⭐️
Shrimp tom kha is BOMB!! And the pineapple fried rice??!!!! Looking forward to eating here more as i moved close by. It was a little bit of a wait due to it being busy, but the food was so fresh i had to wait for it to cool down(im a 10-15 min walk before opening food). Busy is good, means food is good, person upfront was super awesome too! Could not have had a better expiernece
Ordered pad Thai. Paid $2 extra for shrimp , only came with 5. Noodles were dry and flavorless. Worst pad Thai I’ve ever had, first time here, I’m assuming they must do other dishes better
Best Pad See Ew I’ve ever had—like a totally different experience. The noodles were firm and tasty and plenty of chicken and vegetables that were nicely seared. Head and shoulders above the rest! Really nice staff too :)
Best Thai food and great personal service. I love this restaurant.
Best Thai food I have had in SF. The wings are great. My wife had Red Curry and loved it. The Pad Thai was good, but I wish I had gotten the Spicy Cashew Chicken.
Well priced, flavorful, spicy in a good way 👍
Our experience here was decidedly average. It was the kind of dining experience that made me second-guess our decision to go out to eat, especially as we live just up the street from Thai Cottage.
The tom yum soup was "off" (for lack of a better description), and the red curry and pad thai were lackluster. The dull personality of the service matched the food.
Meh, I probably will not eat here again (just too many other options in SF).
Go to neighborhood spot do delicious Thai food. Highly recommend the pineapple curry
Flavorful food, low prices and the sweetest servers. Highly recommend the catfish, crying tiger and papaya salads and curries. Legit authentic and super spicy!
Excellent food and very pleasant staff. Nice restaurant tucked away in an unassuming location. Worth going to.
Decent food but the employees didnt treat me well... acted like they didnt want to serve a white person... let alone talk to me.
Food is top notch. Service fantastic.
Wonderful, delicious, and excellent vegan options!!!
Good Thai food, parking can be a problem but we were lucky. We had the papaya salad green chicken curry and house fried rice. All were excellent.
Very slow service and small portions
Nice food
An okay Thai restaurant. Food was good
Way to expensive for tiny portions. And their mango sticky rice was a flavorless fail. So dissapointing.
Crying Tiger was not worth ordering.
Great Thai food in the area. The Some Tam and tofu dishes were excellent. Only hiccup was waiting on a dish for a pretty long time but waiter was really nice and compensated adequately.
Authentic thai foods just like in Thailand. Best Thai restaurant I've ever been to! The lady attending the restaurant is so amazing. Highly recommended.
This place left me with no words of how good it was ... ever time i go to sf i need to stop by!!!
The Tom yum soup was very under flavored - the soup was too watery and the soup lacked taste. The chicken fried rice didn't taste fresh at all - like it had been sitting for a while. Avoid, even though it is tempting because it is so close to the water where there are few restaurants .
Mad 😡 !! ! really mad , they charge me 15 dollars just for fry rice and skin duck 15 dollars .. And I try another day another dish it's was horrible and poor, I'll try this last dish but no more never I feel Like they steal my money just fried rice and skin duck, I thought was a pieces of duck meat but NOOOKK .... I'LL never and ever back again
always delicious and fresh authentic Thai.
Excellent food.
Life changing Thai food! Wonderful atmosphere and the best customer service! I literally dream about their Spicy eggplant tofu!
Staff was friendly and food was good. I will be going back soon if I’m in town long enough.
Terrific family owned fresh authentic Thai food. Service was great and friendly. Will Definately be back next time we're in SF😀😀
Very reasonably priced for the tastiest thai food I've ever had. Papaya salad was spicey and delicious. No need to request extra heat! Get your dish with sea food, we'll worth the price and cooked perfectly (not too long). Sweet stylish staff!
Fresh, delicious, artfully spiced food in a warm and friendly environment.
Best Pad Thai I've ever had!
The food was super good here. The spices were great. I'd go for the catfish!
Wow.
Crispy Chicken Fried Rice, wow.
Good food for a good price, would recommend.
Wonderful
It really deserves its high rating. Great food. Just remember to tell them if you want some heat. They assume you want it mild. Good family place.

Friendly, low key atmosphere. Excellent green curry.
Great Thai food in a cozy and very friendly setting. Try their pineapple fried rice - it has some great flavors. Also love their fried tofu appetizer. It's soft and silky - just perfect. Parking is an issue. Just park a couple of blocks away and take a quick walk. Overall a great Thai food restaurant that's also rather inexpensive.
Love them x
Ask for spicy, extra spicy always.
Good service. Food was hot. Nice vegetarian options.
Waited forever after ordering food. Seems like they only had one chef working.
Food was OK.
Papaya salad was a bit too spicy. Rice noodles were wet and I was the only one that liked it. Eggplant and tofu was tasty, but after the meal, my stomach didn't agree with the oily feeling. Pumpkin curry was probably the best dish we had.
Best Thai and friendliest staff in San Francisco! This is our favorite spot for a good curry.
Friendly, personable and kind service, and the food was delicious. Good nutty brown rice available for $1 more. Recommend the tom kha soup & the pra ram chicken & vegetables.
It appears I was cheated on the bill.
The food was good. The bill was very bad.
Scrutinize the bill .!
Stopped by here on a whim as I was staying in the area. Great little Thai place with a good selection. I tried the spring rolls and the pineapple duck curry - both were excellent. Service was friendly and fast. Recommended!
Small good restaurant. Very friendly and familiar. The food is good at reasonable prices.
Solid thai place. The food was good but a mixed, the pad see ew was good, the sweet chili chicken & peppers less so, and the spicy basil chicken somewhere between the two. Despite asking for things spicy, they weren't noticeably spicy. Ask for the chili sauce to kick things up a notch. But, good low prices and a cute atmosphere make this a good place to go.
Great stuff & delicious food for very good price! must go if you come to Ocean Beach.
Food: 8/10
Prices: 8/10
Service & atmosphere: 10/10
The name of the place fits perfectly. A tiny neighborhood Thai restaurant with wonderful food and service. Sabrina always makes you feel welcome with her great smile and enthusiasm about wine.
Delicious food
Exceptional start to finish!!! Intimate atmosphere, friendly staff, authentic Thai food at a reasonable price! I'll be back for sure!
Pineapple duck curry is delicious!
Cute little Thai restaurant in the outer sunset. Its super convenient for take out since they're so fast. The pad thai and tom yum soup were delicious. Really liked the beef salad too.
Best Thai restaurant near the beach so far..
An excellent accidental find for me one night. A quaint little spot not far from the ocean with great food and even better service. The atmosphere is perfect for a date too. The food is reasonably priced and the portions are large. More likely than not you'll be taking some home for lunch the next day. I will definitely be returning here.
Their Tofu Gra Prow Grob is one of the best dishes I've ever had at a Thai restaurant.
One of the best Thai restaurants in the City, if not the best of them all. The food is always superbly prepared, the service fine, and the atmosphere, for such a small place, lovely and comfortable. The Outer Sunset lacks really good restaurants. This is one of the few. My partner and I have tried just about every Thai restaurant in the Bay Area. When we have chosen one of them in which to give a special party, Thai Cottage was it. It was a splendid evening. We have eaten there alone or many times with friends, trying at least once nearly every dish on the menu, and never once had a disappointing meal. This is one of the true, unheralded, special intimate restaurants in the City as a whole. For the Outer Sunset, it is special indeed.
Awesome. Best Thai around
The best Thai I've ever had, period. Worth the hour drive from home, without a doubt.
This is my FAVORITE place to get Pad-See-Yu. Not only is this place close to home, but even though I order the same thing, it's ALWAYS good. I have also met other customers from other parts of town who order their Thai food from here too. This place isn't full of bimbo waitresses. This place is small and family oriented.
