I hesitated to visit this Thai restaurant after reading a couple reviews from people getting food poisoning, but I went anyway. Well, I am alive after eating there. This place definitely needs a little makeover. Esthetically, this restaurant needs better paint job... Ordered spicy noodles with chicken. Chicken was generous but the whole dish lacked flavor. It tasted as if they simply put spicy oil in the noodles without any other herbs. The spicy oil they used also lacked the chili pepper taste to it. My friend ordered red curry with beef. The curry was a little more flavorful then my spicy noodles.

The most disturbing part of the experience is that our server prepped our ice water with his bare hand grabbing ice from the ice machine. 🧊 😨🤢 it's cheap and all but I don't know how I feel about coming back.

Absolutely awesome experience! Had a comfortable, clean, casual setting with lovely customer service. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced.

They also have a new discounted happy hour menu which is convenient and yummy! I would 100% recommend to come here and try their food! It is one of favorite restaurants now !

The food was good but the place looked closed at first but once inside it wasn't that bad. The taste of the spring rolls wasn't that bad and were made fresh but it felt like something was missing but overall not bad at all and cheap prices.

Cooked fresh and didn't take a lot of time. Portions are hearty and taste good. They offer spice between level 1 least hot and level 5 most hot. I ordered the #10 Pad Thai with level 4 spice with Shrimp. They offer it with chicken or combo, it was filling and good.

This used to be my spot for Thai!! I loved this spot, but my last visit gave me food poisoning. Of the 20+ times I have eaten here, I would have given this place 5 🌟 stars each time, but it only takes that one time to mess it all up. I started with the hot pot of the coconut and lemongrass soup. It was delicious as each other time I had ordered it. They have 4 salads that are exquisite; however... this last visit I ordered the glass noodle salad with shrimp. I was four bites in when my stomach completely turned and was not having it! It hit quick and took a full 24hrs to recover. Sorry to say that will be the last time I visit. Textbook staphylococcus food poisoning. So, because of my many good visits, I will give this place a 3 star instead of 1 star. They were good to me, until that last visit.

Moved back to San Diego and before I even started to unpack boxes, made the drive from Ocean Beach out to Thai Taste.

In 22 months living out of California, I was in San Diego 18 times...and each time, I went to Thai Taste. The restaurant looks like a hole in the wall and I have had several friends I gave the address to say it took them several tries to find.

I have had an ongoing challenge with the kitchen each time I come in...and it is to make Som Tom as spicy as they know how. Once again, Thai Taste has succeeded in eclipsing the previous version. The folks there have given me the service I have become accustomed to, quick and cheerful,

To shake things up a bit, I tried their Chicken Gra Prow and Panang Curry, both at 7 spicy. Their regular scale is 1-5, and staff shared that anyone ordering 6 or 7 are aware that the spiciness of these dishes will be off the radar. Of course, I ordered the Som Tom, which I order at 10, and have yet to be disappointed.

After spending significant time in both northern and southern Thailand, as I see it, this is the most authentic representation of Thai cuisine I have found in the US. The ingredients are always fresh, the preparation and presentation authentic and the prices are certainly good.

The one possible challenge I have for Thai Taste is to update the dining room. Everything is clean, it just looks old.

I love this place. I live nearby so I’ve been here often and and it is always really great. Portions are big too. I usually get the pad see Lew with chicken.

It's super solid, number 2 spice is probably more like a 3 so be careful. Our go-tos are drunken noodles and green curry. I wish they delivered but they're super quick so pick up is an easy option.

Both of us got sick from the food. Comes in styrofoam that was melted on the inside due hot food being put directly into it. Not sure of the nausea is from that or uncleanliness at the restaurant, but either way we won't be going back.

Stellar portions for the price point. They've recently made some excellent improvements with their website and food quality. I've been ordering Pad Thai and duck larb for at least once a month for a year and both dishes today are the best yet. Highly recommend.

My sister ordered the shrimp salad with clear noodles. Half through her meal she started feeling nauseous, stomach started cramping, and was in the Restroom.
I immediately told the hostesses and our server (Owners daughter and mother, this is a family owned establishment) and they treated the matter suspiciously... like we were trying to scam them from paying our bill.
They only removed the 1 poisoned dish from the bill.
I paid the rest, plus 20% tip. And will never return.
Staph food poisoning is characterized by a sudden start of nausea, vomiting, and stomach cramps. Most people also have diarrhea. Symptoms usually develop within 30 minutes to 8 hours after eating or drinking an item containing Staph toxin, and last no longer than 1 day. Severe illness is rare.

The lady at the front desk has no customer service! Her attitude will definitely drive customers away. I’m sure the owner of the restaurant would not appreciate the way she talks to customers. I have been a regular for a however with an attitude like hers I rather take my business elsewhere. She will try to overcharge you so be aware, and make sure to look at your receipt.

I spent over $60 at this place last night, and even included a tip of $10.....This has got to be the worst Thai restaurant in San Diego. The Orange chicken was stale, the 8 tinny noodles in the bottom tasted like plastic.. The curry was hardly acceptable, but better than the orange chicken. I'll never eat here again. Ever. I'm not that hard to please, but this was scraping the bottom of the barrel.

The staff were friendly and the place is very cute. I ordered two meals to go. A yellow curry with chicken and a pad Thai with chicken. Unfortunately my pad Thai was laced with tofu which to my pallet is disgusting. Even when pulling all the tofu out it was just okay. I would not revisit this place. The yellow curry was good but not worth a second trip.

I've been going here for several years now and I've never been disappointed. They know me by name, ask sincere questions and are over-all very helpful.

These are my favorites fresh spring rolls in the neighborhood. Great price, too. Stopped by today during their normal operating hours, but the door was locked. :-( Figured they might beobe closed due to covid-19, but turns out ** they are using their secondary entrance/door (to the right when looking at the storefront).** Glad I noticed! Got some spring rolls to-go. Yum!!

I came in here last night (a Friday) at 9:15pm, they close at 9:30pm. They were willing to let us (a group of 5) place to-go orders. Everyone's food was ready in about 15 minutes. I got classic Chicken Pad Thai. Honestly this was some of the best Pad Thai I've ever had, and I've had Pad Thai all over the United Sates and even in Thailand. This dish was really on another level -- they use the perfect amount of oil and a very high-quality cooking oil. The meat was juicy and tender, the noodles soft but not overly soft, and their chili paste was great as well. Can't recommend this place enough -- hospitable, timely, and amazing food. All at a reasonable price as well.

Ambience here is just ok but the food is always so good. We always order more than we can eat so we can have leftovers for the next day. Parking is not a problem either

This is a good sized little Thai restaurant next to a gas station. The staff is alright...the menu has a good listing of items. I came here for the lunch special, which are good prices.

I got the pad noodles, which are the wide rice noodles, with tofu, green onion, onion, cabbage, carrot, and bean sprouts. This dish was alright, although a little oily, it had okay seasoning and was pretty hot. It comes with a salad and a spring roll if you take out.

I live right down the street & my fiancé & I love the food here! In fact I have been ordering take out for the past few weeks because the food is so good! My favorite is the curry fried rice & mango sticky rice 😍 & the portions are very generous!

I woke up the following morning and realized my left over curry was in my back seat. )= The Buddha beer looks cool but lacks in taste appeal. Would like to see some Jungle Curry (no coconut milk) on the menu.

Best spring rolls in town with delicious sauce. Not a big fan of their tom kha soup and the pad thai is a a little too sweet for my taste. Everything else is always prettt yummy tho.

Although I got there late, and on New Years eve, I was still seated and allowed to put in my dinner order. The food wasn't the best I've had, but it was really good, ah and moderately priced.

We have seen 4 star review of this restaurant and so we decided to reach there on this Friday, we reached there at 8:30 and ask we need the table for 14. The guy at the reception was really rude and told us that I don't care if you guys are done or not you guys need to leave the restaurant at 9:30(actual closing time of restaurant). This is the first time I have seen this type insult from a receptionist and was shocked. 1 star because can't give less than that!

I've only tried a handful of different dishes over the last year, but everything has been awesome each time! This is a must hit place for us whenever we pass through San Diego! Don't let the "hole in the wall" appearance keep you away, you will love the prices and the food will make you smile.

Everything we had was amazing except the tiger cry steak. That was a never order again dish but the other dishes were delicious and I will definetly be going back and just avoiding the tiger cry steak.

My favorite Thai food in this nation. I travel frequently and whatever city I visit I always eat thai food. I have yet to find a place with Thai food this good. I have tried everything on the menu and it's all amazing. The staff are always friendly and they know who I am. My favorites are the chicken pad thai, orange chicken, and the tom yum soup. Highly recommended!!!!

They double charged my debit card. When I went back the cashier became very defensive and denied doing it. When I left the people from a shop a few doors down heard the guy yelling at me and let me know it had happened to them also.

I haven't dinned in yet but my take out is always quick and delicious.

THE MEAT WAS SO FATTY AND INEDIBLE, I COULD NOT CHEW IT. THE WORSE MEAL IN A THAI RESTAURANT IN ALL MY LIFE. I had to write this review after seeing someone who terribly reviewed this place because this place is AMAZING! Every time I've come in I am always graciously welcomed like family and yeah sometimes it takes 5 minutes to get seated because the sweet lady who runs this place only has one other person in the back helping her, some people need to learn some patience. The food is amazing and the portions are huge! I've never been disappointed here! Definitely would recommend! I would also recommend using spelling and grammar check before posting a review on anything because that automatically diminishes your credibility! Definitely try this place out! Their Tom Kha soup is the the bees knees!

I stopped by this restaurant today around 1140. There was no one in there beside me and it took about 5 minutes for someone from the kitchen to address me. She told me to sit and brought me menu, didn't get any soup or salad as advertised. Overall I felt not welcomed and taught about leaving but since I was hungry, I stayed. I ordered the panang curry with tofu and it was terrible and regretted the decision to stay. I have had same curry many places before and this was the worst. I only ate about half and left. I know many people gave this place good reviews but my experience was very different and will never go there again.

The bomb!

This is the best Thai Food I have ever had including in Boston, New York, Chicago, Milwaukee, Phoenix and Florida.
It's the kind of food you have to say mmmm with every bite and for about a half hour after just thinking about it.
If you go for lunch the amount of food you get for $7 is crazy! Everything comes with soup, salad, a spring roll, rice and the main course.
I have had sweet sour chicked, pad thai, spring rolls wings with thai taste sauce and egg flower soup. It was all delicious!!!

Really great food! We usually get the vegetarian spring rolls (the peanut sauce is da bomb!), yellow curry and thai basil chicken. I want to try something else, too, but these are just sooo good.

We order out from Thai Taste all the time, I love the panage chicken, but they do make it a little on the warm side of the Heat scale, so keep that in mind. My fiancé loves the fried veggie spring rolls, the sweet and sour sauce is authentic and made fresh, not like those bottled sauces you see so often. We also love to order the fried rice with chicken and beef, it's honestly has simple flavors, but its delicious. We don't love the wonton soup, but honestly everything we have ordered other then that is a 4 or 5 out of 5. Definitely try this place if you love real Thai food!
