Breezy shopping-center eatery offering Thai staples in a decorative room with outdoor patio seating.
After trying Thai food at many places in San Diego, I can say this is the best when it comes to good food at reasonable price. We went there 3-4 times and not even for once I was disappointed for food, service or anything. The place is great and serves delicious Thai food at reasonable price. The staff is friendly and their service too is great. The lunch combo is really great in terms of taste and quantity.
You must try this place.
I really recommend this place.
Good place for lunch. We had a reservation at 11:45AM and was sat promptly with the majority of people arrived.
My favorite go-to food here is curry rice noodle with a spicy level of 5. I have to say they do the spicy level correctly here. The curry noddle is only on the dinner menu but is a huge portion that I ended up bringing home about 1/2 of the plate.
The lunch specials at Spices Thai are pretty good. There's a wide range of vegetarian options one can choose from. I tried the Panang Curry with tofu and white rice along with 1 veggie spring roll, 2 wontons, mini salad, and soup. The taste was spot on and never disappointed me as a returning customer. Also, I tried the passion fruit iced tea, which was just Ok.
First time visiting. Went on a busy Thursday afternoon for lunch. I have had Thai food everywhere from the East coast to the West Coast and I’m not impressed by any of them. I usually give 2stars to the Thai spots that I visit. But I’m giving this restaurant 4 stars because I was pleasantly surprised by the taste on my palette. From their lunch menu, I had the drunken noodles with shrimp and beef (spice level 8). It was the right level of spicy for me which made my heart smile that they got it just right. I deducted one star for the oily noodles. Please try to use less oil. Everyone that I went with enjoyed their order as well. I will return and I highly recommend.
Man this place was so good! I love Thai food and this place sure did fulfill my cravings! It's a small but nice restaurant. We did sit down for lunch. We waited about 1 min to be seated. I was deciding between pad Thai or fried rice. I went for the noodles. Now, i love spicy and savory food so she recommended me the spicy noodles and boy were they just what I wanted. I went with the Thai hot level and although hot i wish it was hotter. Besides that bit, the plate was large, very tasty, and fulfilling. Great place to visit if you work around the neighborhood since it's located mostly around corporate offices. Enjoy!
Dined here for lunch for the first time from the Bay Area and this place really serves up the heat! Excellent homestyle cooking. The food was delicious, service was excellent and I highly recommend giving them a try. Just a fair warning, I went with 8 on the heat dial and it was fire but in a really good way!
This was some of the best and most authentic thai food I have had. I was torn between Spices and the Mexican food place next door, but the amazing smells coming from Spices decided for me. I got the spicy noodle and asked for a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10. The heat was nice, but not overpowering, I like spicy food. Also the portion was good and I had plenty left over for dinner. I paid less than 12 dollars for the lunch special and was very satisfied.
Really too bad this place closed. They were really good and Siam Nara is the only thai left in mira mesa which is…just a terrible restaurant
The food is amazing I got the drunken noodles they are more pricey now but there food is good and quick service the restaurant is kinda run down though
Disappointed that maybe they are closed & out of business? It is now about 11:15 am and no sign or note to say anything about what is going on?
We talk about shrinkflation frequently in relation to Chipotle, but Spices Thai appears to be the biggest culprit 😅. During my recent lunch visit, I ordered Pad Thai from lunch menu, and I was disappointed by the portion size.
Loved the food and the service.

Great place to grab Thai food!
This is the worst, most bland, dry and just terrible Thai I have ever been presented. Thai wontons were dry, flavorless and way overcooked then somehow cold?! The pineapple curry someone has no taste of pineapple. We got three different curries and they all tasted like boiled coconut milk. The chicken and bbq pork were dry and rubber with literally no flavor. The salmon curry was cooked until there was no moisture left then smothered in uncooked green beans and terrible currry sauce. Please for the sake of your tastebuds do not go here.
Good Thai food at a quick pace. Great place for lunch as they bring your order quickly. The food is good and there are quite a few options to choose from.
They have patio seating also available.
Great customer service!
In a time where the price of food is increasing while portions shrink, Spices Thai Cafe, just blew my mind!
Perfect spice, HUGE portions!
Thai tea mango sticky rice pad Thai Pineapple fried rice And my favorite, Larb ALL sooooo good!
We will have food at home for three days and we are both as full as can be!
What is your name?
The owner, Tum (sp?) was A VERY kind and hospitable lady from Northeast Bangkok.
Forgive my rambling it’s not often, my mind is blown like this 🙏🏼
This is my go-to Thai place. Almost every time we order the food is ready in 20 minutes (the latest was the only exception, and it took 40 minutes). I think we ate in here once many years ago, but I live nearby and exclusively do takeout. They do have a large patio, which I assume is dog friendly, but I've never asked.
They are able to do white people level spice (aka none) which I appreciate. All the curries come with enough rice. When my wife goes on travel for work I get the Pad Thai and a couple of curries and that's enough food for lunch and dinner for me for a good 4-5 days. It's good value. I've never seen the place empty, and when I was there last there were like 10 other people picking up mobile orders, which is a sign that it's good.
Nothing special. Service was chaos. One lady walked out because no one came out to seat her. After our food was served no one ever came back to check on us. Went to pay at the counter and waited a long time because everyone was in the kitchen doing God knows what. Very strange. Pricey for mediocre food.
Great food and huge portions!
My husband and I’s fav Thai place in Mira Mesa. The red curry and pad Thai are so good!
I ordered a takeout for Penang Curry with vegetables from this place today. The curry was just water with barely any veggies. Also it had no taste! We were a regular costumer here and see the quality is consistently declining. I would no even want to give you a single star for the food I received today.
Extremely tasteless food. Avoid at any cost
Very tasty food for thr past 15 years. Still going strong
We had to stop by the bank in the same parking lot and decided to give this place a try. We were very hungry and we're deciding if we wanted to order an appetizer. The server said the two dishes were a lot of food and didn't think we should order an appetizer too. We are glad we didn't because we were really full. We ordered the drunken noodles and panang curry. The noodles had good flavor. The panang curry was really good. It wasn't as spicy as I wanted but wanted to see what a 7 was like first. I probably would have been fine with a 10. My wife was able to eat the curry and she doesn't like trying my food because it is usually too hot for her. The food was good here and would come back again.
Great food for the price. Not the best Thai in SD but, great value. Service was efficient and timely.
Awesome food !!
Authentic Thai food
Busy at lunchtime, just a bit noisy
The lunch special is not that worth it. It's bit expensive for what you get. The drunken noodles were good, but there are cheaper alternatives that are better in mira mesa.
Good place for lunch. We had a reservation at 11:45AM and was sat promptly with the majority of people arrived.

Food made us sick😫
At a recommendation of a friend, I picked up some of their panang curry with chicken. It was ready in a few minutes and nicely packaged to take home, no spills! They ask how spicy you want it, based on a scale of 1-10. I asked for an 8, and it was spicy, but not so much that I was in pain or gulping water. The curry broth was savory and delicious. I will be back!
Lunch came out looking straight out of the microwave, tasted like it too.
Awful Thai food; this place used to serve good food but definitely, they lost their cook or don't care anymore. Everyone in my party of four complained about the taste of the food. Last time I visit
Favorite Thai lunch
Man have the prices gone up! 6 years later prices have gone up significantly. Food's still good but can't justify new prices.
One of my favorite Thai places, great and prompt service, delicious food, and a nice calm, quiet atomosphere.
Went for lunch this afternoon and the waitress was very confused and rude. she didn't even listen to my order carefully I ordered for a curry fried rice she bought spices fried rice in which chicken was very dry.i didn't like the service so I didn't leave a tip and the rude waitress was demanding a tip saying that we work here only for the tip.its my wish to leave the tip or not. Even though food was ok, the waitress was very rude. Never again in my life to spices Thai 🙏 worst service ever ..i have been to so many restaurants in San Diego and left a great tips for the beautiful service but never seen any restaurants like this .
Service was prompt, but not engaged, very procedural.
Atmosphere was okay, but loud.
Food was good, plentiful, and prompt.
Staff didn't even acknowledge me when I arrived won't be coming back
Best pork I ever had
Good lunch specials, good menu, good food

Pretty good. Not very spicy
Great food, with excellent service. Always crowded so be prepared to wait (short wait), but totally worth it for this hidden gem.
I live in the apartment complex next door so I have been here several times, alone and with my family. Service has always been good and prices still okay compared to another places. I have tried almost all of the curries, panang, yellow, green and the fresh rolls. My husband always has pad thai or some kind of nooddles. We always order everything with chicken; never meat, never duck or any kind of seafood. We all feel the same way about the food: the use fish sauce a little too much. The curries or nooddles are always fishy. It is sad because it is very close, and I don't want to drive further to get a good curry. We have been here more than 10 times and it looks like the over use of fish sauce in dishes is usual so we decided to stop coming. We don't like our food tasting like fish, if we did, we would be ordering seafood plates instead.
Always quick and great service. Friendly staff and smiling faces
Sorry to rate this only 2 stars. I was looking for authentic Thai food. I asked if the food was cooked by Thai Chef , the answer was no. i also asked if there was any Thai worker, the answer was also no.
Taste wasn't right, the vibe was just ok. The place needs lots of improvements.
Love this place. Its good and reliable consistent quality. I’d say I’m a regular and have been here multiple times for lunch.
Great tasting food, good value for money
Been coming here for 15 years. I love the lunch specials and appetizers. They have Jasmine tea as their ice tea option which is just the best. The staff is friendly, FAST and always aims to please. Highly recommend the panang and yellow curries, the pad Thai and wings.
Good Taste! Similar to Mexican food.
They have increased the prices by almost 100% in the last year. They are using inflation as an excuse but inflation is less than 10%
Went today and got the duck pad thai noodles with pork included. The duck was dry, eggs overcooked, and minimal pork. Would not recommend the duck. I ate here once before and got shrimp and pork which was decent. Was very disappointed in service today.
Best place for lunch spls. Very tasty food and good service
Fantastic lunch special!
Had dinner at Spice Thai. I had the edemema and Spicy Noodles with basil and peppers. The portions were very generous and the prices are good. I had spice level 5 out of 10. I like spicy food , level 5 was not too spicy ; just a hint of hot! Good taste. Recommended.
The best thai food i had in the recent times. I like both franchises in delmar and mira mesa.
Dined here for lunch for the first time from the Bay Area and this place really serves up the heat! Excellent homestyle cooking. Consistently a great place for Thai food!
My takeout rad na ($13.95) was savoury but the amount of flat noodle provided was very disappointing. I had to go home and finish my sauce with a lot of extra rice.
Food was great, service was quick. The patio space is lovely.
Open for outside dining at its side. Post pandemic oasis.
Food and service was great. Will definitely go back again
Sorry to say food has gone flavorless and somewhat tepid. Yellow curry had very little flavor and what little it had it was washed in a heavy dose of spice. I asked for a heat level of two and I think I was served a four. Waitress said she would cure that by adding coconut milk. I declined. Won't be back.
We loved this restaurant as all 4 dishes we tried were so good (fried rice, phad Thai, Mahi Delight, and our favorite Pineapple curry). We planned on eating outside due to the pandemic, but when we came in, we were the only ones to eat inside and felt comfortable doing so. They took care of our party of 3 adults and 3 kids while also filling lots of take-out orders. They supported our local school for an eat-out night, and we were happy with our visit all around. Thanks so much for the great food and service!
Great spot, amazing red curry and my go to for pad thai!
Love the Gai Tofu curry lunch here
Really good tai food
I really like this place. Only been here for lunch but the special includes salad, wonton, and a delicious soup.
Terrible food. Terrible service. Would not recommend
Great staff, delicious food
Always great food and super customer service. My favorite place to have lunch while I am at work!!
Tasty. We were outdoor dining. We were treated nicely.
Good lunch special when I was craving pad Thai. The lunch special comes with wonton, soup and egg rolls. The pad Thai had a lot of chicken and the women was friendly. Good spot close to where I live. Would recommend
I was so disappointed with my order today, there was no taste at all. The pattaya was watery there was no taste. This is my favorite dish and somehow the chef mess up the ingredients. The Hawaiian fried rice was so lumpy, the rice was cooked with much water. I'm so dissatisfied.
Fast and friendly service. Awesome lunch options and amazing prices to boot!!
Good thai food
Picked up lunch for my boyfriend and his food had a roach in it.
This is my go to Thai place. The food is excellent, seafood fresh, plenty of veggie options. Nice setting, gets busy at lunch, go around five or 530 for dinner.
Great little spot to get some great tasting Thai! Very convenient location.
Great food
Quick fast best lunch
The food was delicious.. One should be careful with choosing spice level..
Fantastic and great al dente veggies!
Good place! They have an option for 1-10 spice level. My personal preference would be to stick to 6 for a good and spicy taste! But had a bad experience with the food being served, the server was grumpy and I don't know if she had a bad day but I would have appreciated a better welcome and service. I would rate 4 for food but rating 3 for the service
Excellent food and reasonable prices.
I went there for lunch. There were plenty of tables available but they refused to seat me until a two person table opens up. Terrible customer service.
Service can be slow but good is delicious and prices reasonable. I recommend the 52: yellow curry on potatoes, chicken, carrots, onions, and bell pepper and Tom ka gai soup.
The host was unprofessional, refused to choose a table with a sofa, said that this zone is closed today. After 3 minutes, other people were put in this place. The service was long, calamari very rubbery, rice not well cooked, and was eaten only because we were very hungry. Our order of ice cream was taken, but forgotten. After we reminded about the ice cream, it turned out that they actually didn’t have it. After we complained about calamari and rice, they promised to take it off the check, but not so fast - we had to point it out. The bill also included 20% tip. This restaurant does not accept foreign visa cards. This is the worst service that I seen in San Diego.
It took 50 mins, when I told one waiter we are waiting from 50 mins, she showed other table and said “ they came before you”,” Do you want to cancel your order”
Seriously after waiting for a hour ??? Very rude staff
Very good. Will eat there again. Reasonable prices, attentive associates.
