Sub SUB par Thai food. Wouldn’t return or reccomend. Smelled like guinea pig bedding inside. Ordered the pad see ew with shrimp, it lacked traditional flavors. Out of all the pad see ews I’ve ordered this one is the lowest quality. The noodles were bare of sauce and flavorless. Almost returned everything but didn’t want to through more trouble with the lady at the front. The fried rice with chicken was greasy and not delicious. 🙁

I cook Thai food and love this place. Very high quality spice blends. I only buy Thai here. Great yellow curry!!!

Diner Review №8

Worst Thai restaurant, was looking for some places to eat and stumbled upon this restaurant, will never go back, the food is mediocre and you'll hate yourself for going here, Don't waste your time going here, food straight to the garbage bin

Diner Review №9

Great food & service! Very delicious options if you’re in the area and craving thai. The pad thai was delicious & my friends’ curries (not pictured) looked pretty appetizing as well! As typical of thai restaurants, you can select spice levels depending on your spice tolerance. Vegetarian options are plentiful if you or anyone you know of have this dietary restriction.

Diner Review №10

I’m a bit disappointed; there’s hardly any flavor. I got the shrimp Pad Thai and you can’t taste the peanut sauce- the serving size however is big. The woman at the counter was sweet in the beginning but her hospitality changed and was much less welcoming at the end- perhaps because I didn’t tip but it was takeout. Manners are everything and the tipping culture in the states is ridiculous. It shouldn’t be mandatory or expected but based on the quality of the food and service one receives.

Best lunch special in town!
Pls Don't crowd my favorite thai spot! Haha
Food is excellent, I go easily 2x per week.Always delicious. Never had any problems . Just a local spot, clean and inexpensive.

Diner Review №14

Solid thai spot. Would go back and order their fried rice again!

Diner Review №15

The most flavorful Thai food I have ever tasted! Presentation and flavors are outstanding! If you are not an eggplant lover I highly recommend their eggplant stir fry with chicken it will win you over! Also, the green curry with your choice of protein is phenomenal.

Diner Review №16

Well the credit card machine wasn’t working so … Also quite stinky and hot inside. We just walked out.

Diner Review №17

We wanted to try something new and this place caught our attention… Hands down BEST food we have had in a while. If you are looking for something new to try, this is the best place!! Service was very fast as well. 10/10 Restaurant and atmosphere

Diner Review №18

Diner Review №19

I love this restaurant so much <3

Diner Review №20

Pricey, small portions. Update: Decided to try this restaurant again. The portions have increased to a fair amount. The prices are still high for what you get. Got the Chicken Jungle Curry and Pork Panang Curry. The Jungle Curry was good, however it did not have the authentic herbal taste and aroma due to the lack of finger roots, green pepper corns, and jungle curry paste. There were nontraditional veggies in it such as cabbage and cucumber. We would not order it again. The Panang Curry had a good taste, however it was very watery as if the coconut milk was not cooked down enough to result in the traditional creamy texture for Panang. Panang Curry is usually thicker than other curries like red, green and yellow. It also did not have the expected kefir lime leaf aroma. We would not order it again.

Diner Review №21

Diner Review №22

My friend ordered Spicy Eggplant that she normally gets, since we are regular customers. She asked for a 5 spicyness, but it must have been a 10! Her stomach hurt the rest of the day.

Diner Review №23

We were extremely disappointed with the food that we got. Lemongrass soup had no flavor or hint of Lemongrass. We left most of it as is. Pad Thai was way too sweet and noodles were really undercooked and hard to chew. Spicy noodles were alright. We had a lot of leftover and we are a family that almost never have Thai leftover because we all love it so much. We will be skipping this place next time for sure

Diner Review №24

Update.
Finally dine in and was very disappointed. There was no cilantro in my Tum Yum. I asked for it but never got. Duck is still on the menu, but since I haven’t been able to order duck for takeout, I was hoping to get it dining in, but it’s not available. They didn’t have boba as well, and no ice cream. I suggest updating the menu if you’re not going to serve the item for over a long extended time. I also got the sea food salad and it was very sweet, not sour and spicy like the last time I ordered. Still inconsistent!

3 stars because it’s a hit or missed. Not consistent. The first time I ordered from here was so delicious I ordered again the very next week. The Tum Yum soup was a little disappointed but I had my spicy Pad Thai so I was still happy with my food.
The third time I ordered I asked for jungle curry with only salmon, but there was no salmon in my curry, and all the other type of meat was in it. I couldn’t even eat it. I called but it was 10 mins before closing time so I didn’t get through.
I will continue to order the Pad Thai and Duck curry, but maybe not try anything else.

Diner Review №25

Had the chicken pad thai....10/10!🔥🤌🏻

Diner Review №26

Diner Review №27

Kanda Thai is consistently one of the best places to get Thai food and one of my top favorites. They are consistent in their spice, flavoring, and dish creation and their lunch special with the soup and salad contrasts flavors making a stellar combination.

Diner Review №28

The service was so quick and pleasant. This is the best Tom Yum soup I have ever had, hands down.
I also got the steamed pot stickers and I am equally as impressed.
I really really recommend this place. The quality of the ingredients is obvious. Thank you!!

Diner Review №29

Don’t waste your money. You don’t get what you pay for. The garlic edamame had maybe a teaspoon of garlic on it… the tom yum soup was basically only broth and had no cilantro. When I asked for a side of lime she handed me the slice of lemon you see in the pic. This is a rip off…

Diner Review №34

Always great friendly service and great food. I tip generously.

Diner Review №35

Food was delicious.

Diner Review №36

Owners are cheap, I used to go there at least once or twice a week but noticed the server and the owner were pissed at me for opening my laptop there, today I went in and they say I wasn’t allowed to use my laptop, the place is huge and is always empty… I don’t understand how non beneficial it is to see a customer seating and eating there… specially if its a regular… do yourself a favour and eat elsewhere…

Diner Review №37

Diner Review №38

It's a nice place to go for a tasty, quiet lunch. It's very clean and the staff is friendly. I highly recommend trying at least once.

Diner Review №39

Overly spiced food too salty too sweet and old rotten fried tofu was disgusting. Service was fast food came out quickly but with had to ask for napkins and utensils and ask for some thai spices

Diner Review №40

Great food and staff.

Diner Review №41

We went to Kanda Thai Cuisine today on Midway Dr in Point Loma and it was fantastic! We got the appetizer Curry Puffs which had a moist filling and a lot of flavor but the flakey shell was my favorite part. My husband got Peanut noodles with a spice level of 3 out 5 and had a creamy smooth flavor and the veggies were cooked perfectly. I had Green Curry combo (beef, chicken and shrimp) with the spice level of 4 out of 5 and again perfect veggies that weren't mushy and a good kick while having that savory green Curry flavor. Service was excellent and thought I would shout them out because it was quiet hole in the wall that satisfied a craving. We missed their lunch special that ended at 3pm but it looked like a great deal, we will come back to try that!!

Diner Review №42

Loved the Crab Fried Rice and Egg Rolls. The Green Curry with chicken was delicious too! Definitely returning!👍🏾👍🏾

Diner Review №43

Heyo Greg, it's ok here but the Thai iced tea is gooder

Diner Review №44

Fantastic little place we stumbled upon! We love Thai food and we're excited to see some new things compared to our usual local place. Awesome service and really tasty food at food prices. Highly recommend!

Diner Review №48

Delishes hot basil with chicken wow!!!

Diner Review №49

One of the best Thai food in the area. My #1 spot I return to frequently. Great taste, affordable, friendly staff. Highly recommend.

Diner Review №50

Diner Review №51

Not especially delicious. Noodles were gross, curry was ok. I would find another thai restaurant.

Diner Review №52

Enjoy this place
But no green tea ice cream .Why is it on the menu. So disappointed

Diner Review №53

The place is nice and clean Good music service is good but the food is probably the worst I ever try in Thai food I order a wonton soup that the menu said with chicken broth and it was more like water and cook vegetables I order Flat noodles with chicken I almost vomit the chicken taste old and rubbery the noddles have and after taste horrible and over cook To bad the service is good and the place

Diner Review №54

Delightful staff and delicious food. Came in big portions for an incredibly good price in SD!

Diner Review №55

Food is very bland. Do not recommend.

Diner Review №56

Very meh Thai food… out of all the places in San Diego this is our least favorite. When dining in, walls/windows dirty and lots of flies

Diner Review №59

Absolutely delicious! Worth the drive for authentic Thai food.

Diner Review №60

Diner Review №61

Delicious food, great staff, pretty interior, and overall nice experience. I had the chicken pad see ew and my partner had the chicken lad nah with rice on the side. Both were supper good. One thing though, I ordered level 5 spice and it wasn't spicy at all but the flavor was still good. We also ordered the lemonade and it was super good. I usually have to water other lemonade down but this lemonade was perfect and also had the good ice.

Diner Review №62

Diner Review №63

Tha worst Pad Thai I've ever had. No scallion. Not one piece. No egg, no veggie at all. Just noodles stuck together in Oily sauce. Medium hot~was so hot it was not worth eating. Glass noodles and TWO pieces of dry tasteless chicken. What a rip off.

Diner Review №64

Food was very reasonably priced. Ordered the Pad See Ew with pork medium spicy. Though delicious, there were some broccoli or other green stalks in the dish that were too stringy to eat. Medium spice was maybe on the light side so I'll also request hotter next go. The starter soup was on point and the best part of the meal! Not a consume, but some kind of sweet hot cucumber soup I've never had before and unfortunately didnt get the name. Maybe not the right place for a private convo depending on seats but was quiet and clean, and our server was very nice. I enjoyed it and plan to be back!

Diner Review №65

Diner Review №66

First time here, it was suggested by a friend. We sat in what looked to be originally the lobby of a large building, repurposed to be part of the dining room of this restaurant. I had to attract the cashier's attention when I arrived first. The server came over after my friend arrived and he was very polite. He even asked the cook about whether any of the soups were vegan for my friend. (The lemongrass soup is!) I ordered Pad Thai noodles with steamed tofu and a small bowl of Tom Kha soup. The soup was ok. I'd give it a 7 out of 10. I've had better and I've had worse. The Pad Thai was, again, just ok. I'd give it a 6. Unfortunately, neither of these would make me want to return.

Diner Review №67

Would recommend.

Diner Review №68

Diner Review №69

Diner Review №70

Standout issue was the Pad Thai. It was extremely bland. The “triangle” appetizer was mediocre as well. The soup was decent.

Diner Review №71

Great Thai place I go to frequently when on business in San Diego Very friendly staff, great food, good consistency. Atmosphere isn't much, so don't expect it,but the food is quite good.

Diner Review №72

Diner Review №73

Excellent Food and even better service. A place you will be very delighted! We will not be strangers here! Most certainly will come back!

Diner Review №74

Kinda Thai Cuisine.

Diner Review №75

Very good eats! Wonderful services. We will be back for more Garlic and Pepper beef!!!

Diner Review №76

Good food, good price, good service this was a happy find.

Diner Review №77

Diner Review №78

Excellent, friendly staff & hot, delicious food!

Diner Review №79

Prices were high for a restaurant in midway behind Home Depot. I only had the green curry which is a staple and a good way to judge a Thai restaurant. It completely lacked flavor and the chicken was chewy. The peas has the most flavor on the dish. It was better after drenching in hot chili oil. I’m pretty sure the workers were Chinese and not even Thai. Rare to go to a Thai restaurant that doesn’t ask your the heat level and i heard them speaking Chinese, which is easy to distinguish from Thai. Don’t know how average rating is above 4 but may it changed hands and as others have said portions are smaller and prices are up 30%.

Diner Review №80

I ordered papaya salad and it had a long hair in it. They made a new one for me but they made is so spicey I couldn't eat it. I took as if they were mad at me for complaining about hair in my food.

Diner Review №81

Excellent Thai food !! Quick service..

Diner Review №82

Not authentic Thai food. To make dish hoter. The chef just poured more cayenne. Larb awful

Diner Review №83

Great food.. loved their mango sticky rice 😋

Diner Review №84

This restaurant is really good and majorly underrated! I got the pad Thai and the spicy noodles they were both solid. Great choice only 15 minutes from the San Diego airport.

Diner Review №85

Diner Review №86

Drunken noodles/ Phad kee mao tastes ok and the rice noodle is well fried (but could be better) if fried longer. Tofu is crispy and well seasoned. Overall, satisfied with this dish.
The fresh rolls taste ok too. Nothing special to shout out for.

Diner Review №87

The location is great being in a plaza central to Midway / Point Loma area next to Home Depot. The food is very good & tasty.

Diner Review №88

We've been eating take out from them about once a month for almost 3 years. Quality has gone down, portions are about 1/3 smaller while prices are 30% higher. Had bad pork a few times and stomach issues right after. And they always mark the Uber Eats order as "ready" 10-15 minutes earlier which is INFURIATING. We go in, show the app saying ready, they don't care about wasting our time to lie on their ready rate.

Diner Review №89

Fantastic meal thanks, I was staying at the Ramada down the road and ordered satay chicken skewers, chicken larb, and chicken Penang curry, and they were all beautiful. Such a lovely meal so congratulations to the chefs and the very friendly front of house staff. This is definitely a great venue for a great thai meal.

Diner Review №90

Fantastic service, superb selection of quality dishes, and a calming atmosphere. Could not recommend more!

Diner Review №91

Enjoyed dinner here, and the food was excellent. Clean restaurant, friendly staff, and quick service.

Diner Review №92

Ordered dinner for pickup. My wife ordered my favorite, the spicy roasted duck curry, spicy sea food salad, and spicy Pad Thai noodles. The pad Thai noodles was very dried and not spicy at all. My roasted duck curry didn’t have pineapple chunk, tomatoes or basil, instead it had bell peppers and green beans. My seafood salad only had shrimp, and for some reason it had fried tofu. Very disappointed this time around and I think this will be our very last time ordering food from Kanda Thai.

Diner Review №93

The food is great, one of the best Thai food spots in San Diego. The place is really clean.

Diner Review №94

Diner Review №95

The Thai tea is great! And a really good deal. The food was alright. Nothing too special.

Diner Review №96

I've eaten there a couple of times now and the wait staff has always been friendly and prompt. The food has been excellent. I intend to return often as this is my new favorite Thai restaurant near my work.

Diner Review №97

Honestly one of the best restaurants Ive ever been to, the service was amazing and we got our food right away!! The staff was very polite and patient. I ordered the Panang Catfish and it was the best I’ve ever had. The Thai Boba was also amazing, I even had to get a refill. I highly recommend this place, and Im definitely coming back for more!

Diner Review №98

This place was exceptionally good. The dine-in area is on the smaller end, so expect waiting during busy hours. We ordered the panang curry and kra paw which were really good. The glass noodles and fried rice were good. The chicken wings were ok; they come with a sweet sauce on top of them so if you want them naked let the server know. The only reason why we didn't give this place 5 stars was because of the portion size, the portion was a little on the smaller end for the price we paid. Overall a good place to eat thai food.

Diner Review №99

Food was good.

Diner Review №100

Diner Review №101

Awesome lunch deals 👌

Diner Review №102

The tacos from the streets may be not fancy but the food is way better than this scam restaurant

Diner Review №103

Food taste like frozen food!
Looks like a rat is cooking at the back!

Diner Review №104

Diner Review №105

True Thai flavors. Loved it

Diner Review №106

Deliciosa comida Thai..fiesta de sabores muy recomendable, no se lo pierdan...!!!

Diner Review №107

We had the stir fried eggplant, pad see-ew, spring rolls, mango sticky rice, and a boba thai iced tea. Really appreciated the choice of spiciness level from 1-5 for the main dishes.
The food was well prepared and I will definitely eat here again.

Diner Review №108

Had the pad see-ew, a Thai iced tea, an eggplant dish, and mango sticky rice. The Thai iced tea was great, had a boba option and was really big.
All 3 of the food items we had were prepared well and delicious!
The atmosphere was peaceful and mellow which I liked, and the staff was super nice.

Diner Review №109

Food was delicious. Vegetarian food had no smell, so it was good. Otherwise there’s a smell in vegetarian dishes at many Thai places.

Diner Review №110

My friend and I really enjoyed our dinner here. Great service, flavorful food, very good presentation and great value. We would definitely come back!

Diner Review №111

It was my first try to eat Thai food and it was awesome. I am already into Pad Thai.

Diner Review №112

Diner Review №113

I liked the green curry with tofu, medium spice level was perfect, nice staff, very open seating on a weeknight, definitely want to come back to try more!

Diner Review №114

Not one of the better Thai restaurants- and I was a bit shocked that the food was all sort of rubbery. Sorry-went once-won’t go back.

Diner Review №115

Decent. Little over priced and smaller portions but good taste

Diner Review №116

Diner Review №117

DONT LISTEN TO THE 5 star reviews, the food was terrible, raw chicken in the curry and the noodles were cold. Used frozen vegetables too, maybe the WHOLE curry was store bought. Please if you are going to throw away your money, do somewhere else.

Diner Review №118

Phenomenal Thai food! Easily one of my favorite Thai restaurants in SD

Diner Review №119

Really next-level Thai food, worth the drive from the airport. Well presented, expertly cooked, exceptional flavor. Vegan options. Friendly staff!

Diner Review №128

Every single thing we ordered was DELICIOUS! The staff was kind, quick, and super helpful. (We recommend the egg rolls, phad thai, and the "triangles")

Diner Review №129

First time here. Ordered the chicken satay and fresh spring rolls (shrimp). Good flavor! A little pricey.

Diner Review №130

This place is fantastic!
I have been visiting this restaurant for four years, since I moved from San Francisco. SF has some really good Thai but this place really stands out! Service is friendly, food comes out quick, ingredients are fresh, and they listen when they ask your spice level.
Some days I like spicy, some days not. They always get it right, lunch or dinner. It’s awesome as leftovers, too (not always the case).

I take all my friends here!

Diner Review №131

The food was delicious and the display was great. Prices are a little high compared to other thai places in San Diego.

Diner Review №132

Diner Review №133

Food was great!

Diner Review №134

Pros and cons// I like this restaurant I gave it 4 stars.... The food is always good...... All their CURRIES are good, yellow curry, red curry, green curry...
Downside/ They DO NOT give enough rice.... Small
portions it's probably good for some employee there that is really skinny and that likes to eat only a little bit of rice and THAT IS the reason why they give their customers only a tiny bit of rice..... So if you want a good meal you'll have to order extra rice....OR more items.....usually the service is pretty good. I wish they had coconut Thai 🧊tea WITH BOBA......IF THEY did then I would go there all the time ♡♡♡

Diner Review №135

The panang was sour and overpriced

Diner Review №136

We love this place coming appx 5 times a year and never had a bad meal!

Great yellow curry. Very disappointed that there was no lunch specials because it’s a “holiday.” No sign or note on the menu indicating so bit of a bait and switch. Would have spent more if there had been lunch specials.

Diner Review №148

Diner Review №149

This is the best Thai food I’ve had! Service and dining experience are wonderful. Came here during SD Restuarant Week and will definitely become a regular.

Diner Review №150

I come to the place once in a while and have great food experiences and during this 2020 San Diego Restaurant Week it is no different. Exceptional service and food was delicious! The SDRW Menu offered a nice selection to choose from. I had the hot basil chicken at a spice level of 4 and it was exquisite. I also had the Tom Kha soup and for dessert I had the egg custard sticky rice.

Diner Review №170

Great Thai food. They always ask how much heat to add on a scale of 1 to 10. I ask for a 10 and they always ask, if I am sure...that's really spicy hot. It is HOT.. hotter than most like it.

Diner Review №171

Diner Review №172

Great food and very quiet. Not much atmosphere.

Diner Review №173

Very nice and clean atmosphere. Pretty disappointed in our food. My friend ordered the Penang and I ordered the pad Thai. Waitress asked us both how spicy and I said 7 and my friend said 3. When we got our food mine was not spicy at all while the Penang was very spicy. We didn’t complain but we did mention to the waitress that they might’ve switched them. The waitress apologized but said that it’s the Penang sauce. But it still doesn’t explain why the pad Thai which was supposed to be a 7 was not spicy at all. I tried to finish my food but it really wasn’t very good. The rice had a bad texture. I was there on Sunday and there wasn’t much people so maybe it’s just a bad day but I hope they do better. I won’t be returning unfortunately.
