Casual mod-industrial setting for a short menu of familiar Thai curries, noodle dishes & soups.
A small Thai spot with delicious flavorful food. Located in a strip mall in Linda Vista, this unassuming little Thai spot has huge balanced flavors. The interior is clean with an industrial design that feels a bit haphazard. The staff is friendly. The food came out fast and hot. The noodles were still steaming. The flavors are deep, rich, and yet still balanced. Some of the best Pad Thai I have ever had. The prices are good considering the portions are quite large. This place will satisfy any Thai cravings you might have. Well worth a visit!
We were tired and hungry, so we approached this Thai restaurant. The guy at the bar who ordered dishes was quite patient. When faced with the names of dishes we didn't understand, he would explain to us what they were.
The appetizers were fried and salty, too salty and hard. The soup didn't taste good. All the meat was very salty. What's wrong with the chef?
All tableware is disposable, which is not environmentally friendly.
The food is poor and the chef is very poor. It tastes worse than the meals I cook myself.
But I still gave tips ,when I was in this kind of fast food.
Amazing place. Great affordable prices and quality. Would go again.
The flavors of the Soups, currys, and drunken noodles are very lacking.... Parking sucks... Little parking with super tight stalls. They took a long time to serve the food during lunch time...
Thai food, needs no introduction.
My wife found this place on Yelp and we were looking for a new Thai place to try.
The restaurant is located a few streets down the hill from USD and is located in a small strip mall with very limited and tight parking. It wasn’t too busy when we went in the evening. You order at the counter and then they call you to pick up when it’s ready.
There are a few tables in the front of the restaurant and a few in the back down a hallway. The tables were kinda dirty and the restaurant could have been more clean. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time.
We ordered pad Thai and pad kee mao. Both were good enough, but it was pretty basic and underwhelming for the price. We also ordered Thai tea which was the most watered down Thai tea I’ve ever had in my life. It was like they took one standard drink and mixed half of it with water to make a full drink. Very disappointing.
There are better options in San Diego, if you’re willing to drive a bit. We will not be coming back.
Great & immediate service from Crystal! Came in a group of 30 people, and there was kind service throughout. Thank you!
Give Crystal a promotion/raise or ima protest. Service and food is 11/10.
Krystal was the most helpful and kind server I’ve experienced in a long time. I felt bad coming in with a party of 30 people but she, as well as the cooks, handled the situation well and gave us a lot of assistance in due time for our food and bobas. Amazing atmosphere and very willing to do whatever possible to make sure we left happier than we came. I would fly back to California for this place :,)
Long wait. They prepare "to go" foods before dine in
The worst experience I have ever had. They brought my meal and it had the wrong sauce. They would not refund me or exchange my meal. They were kids and had to call the manager 🙄 argued with me and never gave me a resolution. Blamed me for putting the wrong sauce that was served with my meal on my food.
Edit on December 15 2024. Three years since my initial review of this restaurant and my wife and I came in for lunch. It's as good or better than we remember; better yet, it doesn't seem as if it's changed much at all - it's like the perfect restaurant! I love this place more every time I come back. My wife is a first generation Vietnamese immigrant and a very serious foodie, and she loves this place because it's actually authentic and everything tastes the way it should taste, i.e., the way it would taste in Thailand. I had the lettuce wraps and my wife had the drunken noodles and it was absolutely heaven. If you like eating food and you live on Earth you need to come try this place RITE NAO
Had rib appetizer and a nice chicken entree. Everything tasted fresh. I have to come back to try more things. I got a very good impression of the place. Service was excellent, food was great, place was clean. The people there seemed to care about the place on a way that made me think it was a family-owned restaurant. Will repeat - that's just about everything I could ask for in a casual restaurant. I wish every restaurant was this good.
EVERYTHING IS AMAZING OMG
Great prices
Food was amazing, best Pad Thai ever no joke, curry was phenomenal. I am excited to come back again and try wings and drunken noodle. Service was friendly helps about menu and do some great recommendations. We will be back.!!
Plenty of tables and seats. Service was quick and pleasant. Nice place to grab lunch.
Sebuah kejutan!
Beneran recommended 👍🏽
Coby was an absolute gem and helped guide me to the perfect choice for my needs. I needed direction and he was so patient and kind letting me know all of his preferences. Best customer service ever!
Staff is awesome and super friendly! food is great as well!
Everything was too sweet and salty.
I was disappointed that they took theeir salads off the menu. I ordered a Peach green tea, iced with reduced sugar, very good. My Tom Kha soup was flavorful but the only vegetable in the soup were mushrooms. So they are getting 4 stars.
Love their tom kha soup
A friend of mine took me to here to eat lunch. It was my first time there
I don't understand why the people here work so slowly, really focus on your work a little more, you can work faster, I'm not satisfied with your work

This restaurant is open till 10:30 pm we choose this one as it opens late at night. This is a kind of Asian restaurant and not Authentic Thai cuisine.
Self service. Plates are only disposable which I hate the most. Quantity is adequately less. When coming to the taste, sometimes it's good most of the time it's bad. Pad Thai is good. Chicken is very hard.
The price is low compared to other Thai cuisines.
Customer Service is Awesome.
Chairs are minimum and not family friendly. It's very difficult for kids to eat from this Table.
Excellent service....
Reasonable prices, great food and healthy portions.
I was looking for the best Hainanese Chicken rice (steamed chicken rice). This place has a good one which reminds me of Singapore. Prices are reasonable too. I always ask for extra chicken and extra sauce with my order. Their chicken wings are good too. Parking can get really busy.
Why to go order no utensils???????????
I've been going here for over 10 years maybe longer. I was a huge fan and the food was great and the price was great. Now everything, like everywhere else, is ruined price-wise by escalating costs and an out-of-control California state government. (Basic plate is $13.50). It's a bummer. No longer recommended. I'll cool my own Thai.
Came here for a friends birthday, and we were asked to take our food to go as they didn’t have enough seating. I see a table available on the right hand side as we can take it, but we were told all we need your food to go because we’re cleaning I’ll looked at the sign and see you guys don’t close for another hour and a half.
Nearly 25+ minutes I’m waiting for the food. I received my plate of fried rice, but my friends food, however, was packaged and sat on the counter for almost 30 minutes and they made no effort to notify us that her food was ready.
It’s very disappointing that the lack of communication and a attentiveness was vastly ignored at this restaurant. My friend who’s come here, on many occasions was very disappointed with the service I personally as a first timer of this Restaurant was very disappointed likely will not be coming back.
Good food. Garlic Pork Short Ribs were overcooked. The Pad Thai with Beef was served with scant beef chunks amidst a mountain of noodles. The eclectic music was jarring against the Thai street food motif. Parking is tight in this very busy strip mall. Overall a good restaurant.
Excellent authentic Thai food
It's a great place to grab lunch, in, or to go.
The food is testy!
Based on a DoorDash delivery, but this is the best Pad See Ew I’ve ever had in 45 years on this planet.
Food used to be better lettuce wraps are good but the pad thai wasn't what I expected 😕 was dry an lacked flavor. Had to doctor it up at home.
Ordered Pad kee Mao (Drunken Noodle)
Ordered it #3 spicy but there was no heat spicy flavor, the only thing I could taste was the saltiness of the soy sauce that was added in excess ( in my opinion it was extremely salty)
I had to eat it because I was hungry but I didn’t enjoy it!
Super tasty Thai Street food! Great vegetarian options and the spice level is on point. Will definitely be eating here again.
The chicken pad Thai was DELICIOUS. It was so good that if my sister made I couldn’t even pretend like it was just okay. It was so good that if you’re reading you must try it. I’m no pad Thai expert but I do be eating and this was good eats (also the Thai tea was good) (oh yeah and the music was fire)

Had to change my 5 star rating to a 1 star because of utterly terrible customer service. "Shift manager" was antagonistic and looking for a fight after they made a mistake with my order. So disappointed. I guess I'll have to drive another 3 minutes in a slightly different direction next time I want thai.
Cultural appropriation and an insult to Thai cuisine.
Cute little spot for a quick and casual meal. We got the yellow curry and it was the perfect size to split between two not super hungry people. The curry comes in a medium size soup cup and with white rice. The curry flavor was great and there was no heat to it. We didn't ask for spicy or anything but you probably could.
Food: flavorful and filling
Service: kind and quick
Huge portions and exquisite flavors. Very much more than it looks from the street. I grew up on Thai and this place doesn't disappoint with their options
Apparently closing at 10:00pm means 9:30pm. Only redeeming quality was it's close by. Guess I'll spend the extra 10 minutes driving somewhere else.
Really good khao mun kai (Hainan chicken rice). Portions are huge!
We got kicked out at 10pm in the middle of eating after they took awhile for the food and we arrived around 9ish I’ve just never been asked to leave in the middle of literally putting food in my mouth. Which btw the food is great but if they wana be done at 10pm they need to close earlier
Ordered the Basil chicken. Spices were average, large serving. I don't know if it's a new hire they have, but the dish was overly salty. A 7 out of 10 saltiness. Need to seriously trim that down.
2 stars atmosphere for dirty tables.
Spicy basil chicken was a little bit salty but it ok
I don't like it preset tips for take out order.
I’ve been eating here intermittently for years and I have to say the food is inconsistent. Sometimes I go and my food is delicious and other times it’s incredibly bland and soggy. The spice level is also inconsistent and it’s disappointing they will not remake dishes or give refunds for their lack of consistency in the kitchen.
We used to order takeout from this place often but finally decided to dine in this time. Tables are a bit limited. Food and price is fair, my husband ordered the beef Pad See Yew and the beef was very hard to chew. My shrimp pad thai was slightly better. I gave them 4 stars for having a diverse menu.
I'm offended by the guy gay guy wearing makeup and keep asking me what do I want pretending to sound like a woman when I said let me decided he should find another job or fired it kills the atmosphere for a first time customer
Food is okay, a little too salty for me. Not quite Thai authenticate, but okay. Price is high though
Quite good taste. But order from DoorDash seems cost more than order directly from restaurant.
False menu pricing and poor customer service.
They were out of stock of beef and didn’t refund the $1 difference with what I substituted with which alone isn’t annoying but when I later ordered additional sides of rice the price was marked up higher than the menu price. When I asked if the $1 difference from the original order could be deducted from the side and complained the price was higher than advertised. They said they would not change the price. You may think it’s petty to complain about this but I won’t return to this restaurant. Who knows what else they’re willing to be dishonest about…
For what it’s worth the taste of the food was decent. Portion size for the cost a little small though.
I wrote a review on J&T Thai approximately 1-2 months ago and feel obligated to write an updated review as a lot has changed. Since writing my last review, I have noticed that they consistently have the back seating open and available now (yay!) However, I do not think I can eat here any more. Some alteration has been made to all of their curry recipes, it seems, and even on the lowest heat level it is too spicy for both my boyfriend and I to eat. It is too spicy to enjoy the flavor and seem to hurt our stomachs now. The curry here used to be incredible and we would come multiple times per week, very disappointed.
👍🏼🍽️Delicious Thai cuisine at affordable prices! Dine in or takeout available. A perfect place for satisfying your cravings!
I had the yellow curry, wings, and Thai tea. All of the food was not slightly bland compared to other Thai food that I've had. Even the tea. The dipping sauce for the wings was good, but the wings themselves were ok. I ordered a 5 in the spiciness scale for the curry. Whatever they used to make it spicy was concentrated in the middle of the curry and I didn't realize until I took a giant bite of it. So make sure to mix your food before you eat it. The yellow curry also had bell peppers in it, not that I'm opposed to them. Just wasn't expecting them. What I didn't like was the amount of bell peppers in it. It was a lot compared to the curry. I ate 2 potatoes. A lot of chicken in the curry.
Wow it's probably the best thai food your gonna get in SD probably all of Cali it's definitely top to best Thai food I ever had they don't have military discount and nothing for vets but still amazing food and the girls are very beautiful to only thing missing is sticky mangos once you come here you won't want no other Thai place you have been warned
I stopped in tonight to grab some take out and was disappointed that my order was inputted incorrectly even though it was a recommendation from the cashier while ordering in person. Food is still good, I just wish it was the noodles I had wanted and ordered.
I ordered through door dash, waited an hour and ten minutes for the food, then they cancelled the order.
I'm pretty frustrated.
Took my wife here and it was AMAZING! Flavors were incredible! The ambiance was just what we were looking for, casual and fun!
More for college kids or small meals.
Sunday takeout Pad Thai which I’ve had 5/6 times and it never disappoints. Massive portion. Bursting with flavor (spice 4). Does not skimp on the protein and for the beyond reasonable price this place need not change a single thing….ever!
You will always use J&T to compare other places and chances are you will always be disappointed after you’ve had this dish here. I’ve also had their chicken wings in the past and I do crave them. Good job guys!
Definitely not authentic thai food and I asked for extra broccoli, got charged for it, but got literally zero broccoli in my order.
Advice for management: Please don't use plastic utensils, cups for dine in or at least get compostable ones.
Pad thai was a bit sweet but nicely prepared, would recommend that
Food good!!
There is just too much added sugar to the food. I can see the appeal to some, but that’s just not my flavor appeal for Thai food.
Fast food Thai style. Spicy! Many choices. Read ingredients list carefully!
Want to stand in line, pick up your food, and be expected to tip? I used to like this place, but the preparation of the meat put me off. It's usually kind of over cooked and tough. The parking is tight and there is no street parking. I do not like how the tipping is set up. They do have a bathroom and seating. It's a little too fast food Thai for me. The soups are good!
Placed an order for 2 orders of chicken pad Thai. Asked for one to be the lowest level spice- mild. No heat. Asked for the second one to be level 2. Got home- 1/3 of the pkg was bean sprouts. Tasted. My mouth is on fire! The level 2 was too spicy as well. I called. They said there was nothing they could do. They said the kitchen made it correctly because they labeled it 1 and 2. LEVEL 1should not have anything spicy! I couldn’t eat my meal, they wouldn’t refund me. They didn’t even offer to make it again. They are all scared of the 2 managers. I’ll never go there again. Thankfully Hillcrest has some awesome options.
Final word- don’t go here if “mild” means anything to you. They don’t care if it makes you sick.
I drove past this place and decided to try it, got beef pad Thai noodles and they were very good, some of the best pad Thai noodles I’ve ever had, definitely recommend
This was a difficult decision because I liked the flavor of what I ordered but it was not traditional Pad Thai and the quality was questionable. It had green beans, broccoli, green and red bell peppers, and kale. The bean sprouts were minimal, the chicken was over cooked, there were no peanuts, and the sauce tasted ketchup based. But I also only ordered one thing so try it for yourself.
This is a TOTAL staple and best thai food I've had in SO LONG. So authentic and amazing, you just can't go wrong here
The food and service are excellent.
It is pricey.
We got the Pad Thai and Pad See ew to go with extra vegetables. We got the beef and chicken options and both were Excellent. I will say that they could add more noodles. Let's be honest, that's the cheapest thing ever and especially for the price. I think that the meals could be one and a 1/2 times the size.
Amazing food! The basil chicken is so good!
Great Quality Thai Food . I really enjoy both The Spicy Noodle Soup add chicken and The Duck Soup . Excellent Pad Thai as well . Nice work Team .
Food are too sweet in my opinion.
Tried this place while on a business trip in San Diego. Green curry was great with just the right amount of spice and not salty.
Unfortunately, I’ve had some good plates here and some bad ones. Including a plate of Pad Thai that was completely dry and stuck stuck together (and poorly flavored). And the ribs appetizer that was too chewy to eat.
J&T Thai is my go to spot for Tom Kha. 100% my favorite Tom Kha in SD, maybe even in all of Southern California.
I can also vouch for the Green Curry, Fried Tofu and my partner always gets the Pork Leg Stew.
Their menu is amazing, affordable, and quick. Great spot for groups of friends, and still solid for Takeout.
If you've been looking for a sign to try J&T - This is it!
This place has the best Thai food I have had in a long time. The service is good. The staff are always friendly and nice. They go above and beyond on helping explain food items etc. Sometimes it is hard to call ahead and order. You might have to call a couple of times. But it is worth it. The place is always busy. The only negative thing I have to say is that music is way too loud.
Stood waiting at the register and when the girl came up she said the kitchen was closed at 9:30pm. I said it’s 9:31 and we move been standing here. She asked the kitchen and they said they already started cleaning up.
Lunchtime was alright here. Got the pad see ew with tofu and I feel like there was 30% noodles and 70% toppings. I do wish it was the other way around because I'm a noodle fiend....Otherwise, noodles had a good texture and saucy enough
Food: 5/10
Service: 5/10
Vibes: 5/10
Value: 5/10
Always top notch food, dog friendly, amazing staff. Brought water over for my dog without asking.
I've been here multiple times. Their food is consistently fresh, hot and delicious. My favorites are all of their soups. The price for the Tom Kah and Tom Yum can't be beat!
We really enjoyed this place was really good. They must be really good they had so many pick up orders it was crazy. Definitely should try this out if you love thai food
Food was mediocre and expensive, service was just as disappointing. We ordered several dishes and drinks to share, totalling about $90. Both the pad see ew we ordered were salty, and I've never been appalled by the Thai classic as their spicy basil chicken on rice. I gave them a pass on bring out my rice dish so late; giving them the benefit of the doubt that they may just be busy. After 35 mins and my friends finishing half of their dish, the server came to ask if we were missing anything, and i had to remind them of my dish. Then they came back with the basil chicken but forgot the rice on my chicken basil on "rice". I rarely give bad reviews but needed to give warning, you can find a better Thai restaurant than this place.
Deeply disappointed in y Drunken Noodles. They were completely missing any spiciness. (The server didn't ask and they have always been spicy in the past.) Also the beef was quite dry, tough and not very flavorful. Huge disappointment when I got home. (Take-out only at College Ave location.)
Great little venue in a convenient location (Morena) close to YMCA Mission Valley, USD College, and the police station. The Thai cuisine and Thai Iced Tea is very authentic tasting, delicious, and NOT overpriced. That combo is why J&T Thai Street Food restaurant always has business, take-out and dine in. I always order take-out.
I never write reviews but this place was so amazing I had to! Food: amazing, fresh, so flavorful. Price: amazing, especially for what you get. Vibe: great music and just a good vibe. GO HERE!!!
Not a fancy joint.... But the food is very good!
Hainan chicken rice was delicious and authentic. Reasonable price for big amount of food. Definitely coming back soon.
Outstanding, truly authentic Thai food! It's way better than most Thai Restaurants, and it costs less! They always have great food and service. My favorites are the Pork Leg Stew Rice & Streamed Chicken Rice.
Good food, fair prices. Inside is no frills but decent seating and friendly staff. The coconut Thai soup is my favorite. Got curry tofu, drunk noodles and Thai tea. All were good and curry has nice flavor and not too spicy
👎🏼👎🏼This place is mediocre at best. Menu is really small and do not order the noodles, they fall apart and are gummy. Last time I went I ordered the spicy basil chicken and it was Ground Chicken which is not specified on the menu. I asked to exchange for something else and the waitress said she couldn’t do anything about it, apparently she was the manager. She had a bad attitude and no customer service skills. She said she couldn’t take it back cause it’s what I ordered. So I left the plate, no refund, no replacement, and very upset. If there was a negative star, I would give it. Couldn’t believe how dumb the lady was, she definitely lost a customer. I will never go back! Hope u don’t either!!!
Really good food. Service is amazing as well. I got pad thai and peach green tea with boba. The peach tea wasn't that good, but the boba was excellent. Reasonable price as well.
I’m so happy this place has never changed their recipes. I’ve been a costumer for around 6 years and has never disappointed me.
I called them for order online and surprised to know that they don’t sell mango sticky rice n they Don’t know what is it… :( v disappointed
I had doubts reading the reviews but that pad Thai was fireeee. Tom yum was also amazing. Wish there was some sort of sauce with the edamame but we were super happy!
Fast and good.
Excellent chicken satay - loved it. Seemed like it was with just a hint of sweet in the sauce. Had that along with plain pad Thai. They made it just the right spicy that I can handle without plate loosing overall flavor — ( 2– just a hint of spice). Right amount of green onions. Large portion. Staff also attentive to service as well as my dietary needs for Gluten Free.
Really tasty and fresh. Chicken lettuce wraps are great. Panama curry is really nice flavor
Worst service and worst quality Thai food I’ve ever eaten.
Mid AF. Wouldn’t be surprised if the food was microwaved. How you gonna serve pad Thai with no crushed peanuts or chicken satay without toast????
Her şey mükemmel. 👌. Ve bol kepçe. Perfect. Dankee
Chicken in panang curry tasted not fresh. It tasted precooked and nasty. The table and surrounding area near the trash can was very filthy.
I order from here all the time and have had very mixed experiences. The pad see eu has been amazing almost every time I have gotten it, but the last few times that I got red curry, the rice was not cooked properly at all. It was an inedible plate of wet mushy rice. This has happened at least 3 times now, which is very dissapointing considering that I had to throw away half of my meal.
Additionally, whenever I place an online order and go into the store to pick it up, it seems to be ready on the back counter, but the employees that work here seem to help every person that comes in after me, before me. So I have been waiting several times while just staring at my food that is ready on the back. There are some nice employees that are good at their job, but this isn't usually the case.
Don't get the boba, its not good, but the drinks themselves are okay without boba.
Didn't taste fresh. Ordered the same spice level for both soups but one is very mild one is inedible. Not authentic ingredients. I didn't enjoy the food and won't be back.
First off the music they play is really good. The service is friendly. The food got out super fast and still tasted fresh. The cucumbers were a good pallet cleanser so that when you drink your water it doesn't taste like Thai. It has inside seating and free delivery on multiple platforms. I will return!
12+ days of food poisoning.
Well it's alright as a fast food Thai restaurant. Not if you are seeking something authentic though.
Food was delicious, ready quickly, tasted healthy. I ordered pickup and got Panang curry with veggies and paid extra for shrimp. I had been working out all day and was starving and craving some protein. I got home, opened my food and was excited to dig in, and to my extreme disappointment there was literally ONE very small shrimp in my whole order. There were tons of veggies, it was delicious, but I paid $15 for this meal and am still starving bc there was basically NO protein that I had paid extra for.
Red curry salmon is delicious!! Lov this spot, I have been coming since they open, great & fresh food
The food was really really good 👍
Ordered the yellow curry, and was not disappointed! Friendly service and decent prices.
Ok for the price
