Kasoy was fire, make sure you get it!!! Also make sure you try the laarb but be careful it can be Hella spicy! Great service and awesome atmosphere!

it's not the same anymore. we ordered fried calamari, large kasoy, and papaya salad. the kasoy lacked a lot of flavor, even after adding all the condiments that are offered at the table. the papaya salad was also bland and did not come with peanuts as stated on the menu. the best thing we ordered was the fried calamari.

This is a great place to eat authentic Lao food! However disappointing that the waitress / waiters here cannot keep their tips. I always tip wherever I go eat but once I found out that the owners keep their employees tips I stop giving my business to them. It’s a shame bc they are all hard workers and they deserve more.

So my sister ordered some Kaopiek from here, and it tasted like someone poured in so much MSG and salt into the soup. We had to dilute it almost at a ratio of 2:1 (2 cups water to 1 cup Kaopiek). I want to support local and especially this Mien-owned business, so please please taste the food before putting it out!

Hidden gem alert! Im from Riverside and am traveling here for a work trip. About 30 mins or so away from the airport. I haven’t had kapoon in so long. Dont sleep on this place, it’s so good! They even gave me kapeek (shrimp paste) and peppers 😭

I ordered take out; papaya salad and Kapoon. I used to enjoy coming here when it was new because of the papaya salad. It had the right amount of spice, sweet, sour and funk. Delicious then. I just happened to be in the area and ordered Papaya and kapoon, because of old memories. I don’t know what happened, but both papaya and kapoon were very sweet. The taste of the papaya and kapoon had overwhelming cane sugar and pale in flavors of fermented funky padek to the point that I couldn’t finish beyond several bites. Disgusting. I felt like I gained a few cavities afterward. I might as well as eaten a handful of candy corn because that’s exactly how sweet it was. I had my 9 yr old tried the kapoon and she adamantly rejected and said IT’S too Sweet. She didn’t want it. We threw it out. I kind of want my money back. But I don’t ever want to step foot in that establishment again. They have lost a customer. I will not recommend this this to anyone. Horrible food. Shouldn’t even call it Lao Restaurant at this point because Lao food is known for padek not overly sweet sauce or dish. They gave Lao restaurant a bad name. This isn’t Lao food! Maybe this family own restaurant isn’t actually run by a lao family, because this wouldnt have pass the Lao dish standards. I’m done.

i normally order from this place and they have absolutely the best kapoon and beef larb. i myself, usually get the beef larb spicy with a side of sweet sticky rice and i swear it’s the most flavorful thing ever. this is also the only place that satisfies my craving. i can literally eat it everyday and not get tired of it. however, please don’t order it spicy if you cannot handle it.

this place is also super understanding! i recently got takeout and they messed up my order, so when i called, they were so kind and thoughtful. they offered to give me a refund or give me the items i missed as long as i brought my receipt. they even gave me extra food to compensate! this made me incredibly happy, especially after i had a bad day at work. thank you so much for making my day better and i will continue to be a regular here. for everyone still wondering if this restaurant is worth it, 100% a must try. i promise you they will provide great service!

If you order you pho to go, the meat will be raw. I guess this is how they always serve it to go so you can cook at home. Well, I get back to school and the meat is raw, maybe just a warning that it’s raw would’ve been nice so I could ask for it to be prepared as I don’t have a way to cook my own meat at school after paying 17$ for a bowl of uncooked ramen.

The food was delicious and always is. My favorite is Papaya salad. The environment was very nice and the waitress was very nice. Very clean and wonderful memories.

OMG! This is the SPOT! Frfr! I was craving some pho & nothing was open, until I found The Spot! Open until 2am & kitchen closes @1:30am. Called in an order & I got the beef pho nd the sausage with sticky rice. Pick up time was fast, the gentleman that rang me up was friendly. Has a cool bar (too bad I didn’t uber lol). Let’s talk about how I’ve been all over Sacramento nd I’ve eaten enough pho to knw when I’ve found one that’s the BEST! NO CAP! I’d give it a 10 star if I could, bt I’m going to add a review. You Must try the beef pho! it’s a 10 out of 10! The flavors were AMAZING! I felt like I was eating Pho for the first time. The portions were good, everything was clean nd you could tell they take pride in putting out good food. I love the face that the flavors were in every bite down to the last. The sausages were on another level of bomb! Nd idk what was in the sauce bt that was BOMB as well! This place is a little dark and could be cleaned a little bit better but I come here all the time because it's open late the food is really good spicy! And will definitely fill you up. So if you like finding random places tucked away in a corner this is definitely the spot.

This time around, I picked up the KaoSoy noodle soup and Klang Fen. The KaoSoy was good, but note to self...ask for lime/lemon & chili. I can't imagine folks can eat this without the extra condiments. As far as the Klang Fen is concerned, it was the first time me ordering it and will be the last. First things first: there was already water (perhaps tomato) in the Klang Fen? It was a little odd to me, so I poured it out and use the tomato water provided. The bean paste (Dopc zeic) was bland and I mean extremely bland. In any event, no more Klang Fen at The Spot.

Business states it opens at 11 but it was not. Giving this place a 1 star because of that.

The Spot is one of those restaurants that really grew on me. But grew in such a great way! It is one of my top go to places when I am thinking about grabbing some soup or just getting in some good grub. The staff are very kind, attentive and accommodate your food restrictions or wants. I enjoy myself everytime I come and leave full and satisfied! I will be back for more!

Love this place! The staffs are nice and friendly. The food is great as well. Always come for kapoon. Klangfen here is also bomb! Warning about the kapoon though. It's sweet so if you don't like it sweet choose something else on the menu. There's plenty of yummy dishes to try!

Always closed 30 minutes ahead of closing time and every time call to order the person on the other end always said our kitchen is closed we can’t serve you.

It smells like a bathroom inside the restaurant. Also, they were out of two menu items. I ordered an alcoholic drink and they never gave it to me, but it was ok because I was so ready to get out of there. Not impressed and won't be back.

The Spot— 😒 ....Let’s just say the food used to be so much better before Covid hit. I’m just not sure if chef has been changed or they just don’t care but this is the second time I have ordered food from them since Covid happened and it was the worst. The cream cheese wonton was cold and hard to chew (same texture as eating a hard candy). The sauce for the cream cheese wonton was chunky compared to before (looks overdue) The Kaopia, kaopoon, & Kaosoy were SALTY. I tried to dilute it with hot water but it was not helping. I ended up tossing it. They need to get it together or not serve at all.

Had some lunch here for the first time on Sunday that we enjoyed. It was awesome to try those familiar flavors of food and heat we tried abroad in S.E asia. We had the papaya salad, kasoy soup, beef larb, vietnamese coffee and thai tea and enjoyed it all. The service was great, very fast, attentive and kind. We would come back.

I still rate it a five stars due to how fast food comes out and the quality of it. I recommend the larb, and shrimp rolls for appetizers and you can not go wrong with Kasoy, Kapiek, or kapoon. Best food ever, I got the best food tonight and it was a delight to see true homemade Asian food, for a bar too. The wings were very flavorful and for a skinless swing sometimes it's hard to achieve so the brine must be perfect. This was amazing. They were crunchy and flavorful. The broth for their noodle soup was also exceptional. You could tell they spend a long time really cooking those flavors deep into their broth .and the service was great to I got there at 1 a.m. and was still greated with a smile .

They were exceptionally tacky, and the wontons were still crunchy. Yay for that.I had the kapon, which where thick( emergency room) rice noodles in coconut curry broth with chicken. Holy hell, that was delicious. The brew was so silky and also cozy, ideal for an overcast\/rainy day. I virtually ended up the entire bowl.The atmosphere is extremely loosened up, with sporting activities on the tube and also a side bar. A Lao sports bar? I recommend, as an extremely delicious Lao experience was had

Quit by on a stormy day to try the Kasoy. The Kasoy was very flavorful as well as packed with meat. The location is decent size, we really did not have to wait, food came out quick and also the area looks clean.

Their kapoon was really good! We came here after a long day of celebrating a graduate (Yay, GY!) and there were more people at the bar than dining at 11pm. The service was nothing to complain about and was pretty quick (probably due to the fact that it wasn't busy). Still, for a party of 8, our food was delivered swiftly and our water levels never got too low. This was a great place for a late dinner.

Visiting CA and my nephew took us to this restaurant, we ordered Laab, papaya salad, kapoon, kapiak and kasoy.
Laab was bit sour and dry, kapoon too much coconut and sweet, kapiak salty, kasoy and papaya was ok. Not something that I'll want to go back again.

Terrible service and food yesterday night. We waited 45 min for our food due to the server focusing on large party getting multiple rounds of drinks. Our ka soy tasted off, as if it was watered down. We stopped eating it after a few bites. The server also forgot to give us the cabbage, herbs and limes that come with the soup. The Lao sausage we got was burnt instead of crispy like it usually is. However, at least the sticky rice was good. This spot is usually a hit or miss, but yesterday it was the worst we've experienced there.

Cool little surprise tucked away behind a casino building. Couldn't eat any of the food. None of it was gluten free. Drinks were ok. They didn't have the ingredients to make the drink that was on their cocktail menu.

I had hoped this place was better than the previous reviews but I was sadly mistaken. I had the kapoon which has chicken. When the food was delivered, I discovered I had a whole lot of mystery meat. A few pieces looked to be chicken and others like curls of fat. Even more were dark purple-brown looking and I couldn’t even look at the meat. With that being said, the soup part was great! I enjoyed the flavors, but I cannot give a good rating when the food I was served did not look to be edible. If it weren’t for the meat, this would have been a better rating.

Honestly the price is not worth it . Food ain’t even worth it too. My girlfriends kapia wasn’t even that good & in a small bowl when she ordered a medium. Ordered sausage that costs around $7-8 and came with NO rice , was kind of dry, and some sauce that wasn’t even sauce or sauce that wasn’t even meant for sausage. What kind of Asian restaurant does not serve rice with any of their plates? They CHARGE for rice instead. Pathetic, I can get a rice plate at Saigon for a better money’s worth. Never going back here.
