We (a group of five) visited for my mom’s birthday lunch on a Saturday. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted and made to feel welcome. For appetizers, we tried gyoza, chicken satay, and chicken samosa—each was delicious! The tom yum soup was incredibly fresh. Everyone loved their entrees (pad Thai, Thai fried rice, larb). All dishes were served hot, fresh, and authentic.

The service was top notch! The water carafe was always full. Our waitress was attentive and so kind! Amazing service!

The restrooms were spotless, and the dining area was clean and cozy.

We’ll definitely return and highly recommend this family owned restaurant!

Delicious! I ordered red curry medium and it's soo flavorful! 10/10 would recommend. The staff there is kind. They give you a little candy with your bill. They give a warning about the spicy level in the front of the menu. If you're not tolerate to spice, I would adhere to their advice, however I love spice and have a hugh spice tolerance, so when I ordered a medium, it tasted mild to me. They gave me chili to adjust the spice when asked. The snoopy decorations are so cute!

Eating this food makes you feel like you’re back in Thailand. Everything I’ve ordered from here from the soups, curries, noodle dishes, have all been fantastic. It’s the only legit Thai food in Petaluma.
The staff is amazing and so sweet. Each to go bag is decorated in house. The decor inside could use a little assistance, but don’t let that keep you from trying the best Thai food and possibly all of Sonoma County.

I’d been wanting to try Chan Chao since I saw the sign that there was going to be a new Thai spot. I was excited when I saw all of the positive reviews and my boyfriend and I had a great experience. We ordered the avocado🥑 and yellow curry 🍛. Both had generous portions of sauce and protein. Our waitress was so sweet and we got the cutest to go bag. Looking forward to more visits here! ❤️

We loved Chan Chao! Great service, genuinely kind wait staff, really clean and unique dining space inside a Victorian house, and the food was absolutely delicious. This is the best Thai food we have had in the Bay Area! The Green curry was very flavorful. In addition to having tofu options for their dishes, they offer vegan plates with soy chunks. We tried the Pad Krapow, and it was so good! We look forward to eating at this family-owned restaurant regularly!

Boat noodle and pad thai beef was absolutely tasty, I didn't think i can find a good pad thai and beef ball ( inside my boat noodle) taste like i was in ThaiLand last summer - here at this small town. Sticky rice mango was okay because the mango wasn't ripe enough so it taste a bit sour. Our waitress was very nice and attentive.

Newly Renovated and Opened! I loved this place when it closed down and I am so happy it has reopened! Petaluma’s best Thai food! Food is just as good as I remember it and the staff is so friendly. The peanut sauce is my absolute favorite EVER! They left me this cute message on my take out box too, and after a long day, it made me smile ◡̈

Came here after a long afternoon of paintballing and it was such a memorable experience!

Good:
- Super cute ambiance - there's a stuffed bear on the wall and heart origami, how much better could it get?
- The staff are incredibly nice
- The khao soi was really good, good balance of sweet and savory, and the special curry with sticky rice blew my mind. Felt healthy too
- Good value for your money! Good portion sizes

Bad:
- Food does take a little bit to come out (15 min or so) but it's not a super bad wait

Overall this was a super great experience and would come again.

This was such a good spot to eat! The staff were more than hospitable, and very friendly! The food was delicious and the decor was beautiful! Would highly recommend coming, I drove an hour away to meet a friend here, and I would do it again just for myself. A shame I didn't get a picture of the food!

I just returned from eating lunch at Chan Chao. The food was good like always but I don't think I'll ever return. There was a family with two two boys that were probably 6 and 9 years old plus a new baby, parents and a grandma. These two boys were kicking the bench, screaming at the top of their lungs and dropping things. The parents never said a thing. I looked and they said "Oh quiet guys". People quick to pay their bill and leaving.
When it came time to pay, I told the waitress "I cannot believe that you as the owner would not say anything to these people. That is inappropriate behavior for the establishment." My friend and I could hardly hear ourselves talk. I've never been in that kind of an environment and I hope it's the last time. I cannot believe what animals these kids were.
I will not be returning.

Really loved our experience here! My wife and I had the tofu pra ram, Thai fried rice, and beef pad see ew. All was great and flavorful. Really liked thr decore and atmosphere as well.

We were visiting from LA and I have to say this was an amazing experience. We were a party of 7, so we were in a private room all by ourselves. The decor and the ambience were awesome! But the food and the services were beyond our expectations. Amazing flavor, fresh and authentic. You could tell it was a family run business as they were beyond friendly and nice! We even stopped at the kitchen door on the way out to say thank you to everyone. Highly recommend and can’t wait to go back next time I am in town!

This restaurant is so lovely! Very cute and cozy atmosphere. The food was delicious and the best thai in Petaluma in my opinion. The servers were so friendly and accommodating. Definitely comping back often.

I’ve just enjoyed my first meal from Chan Chao. The Panang Curry was rich, delicious and satisfying. The ladies are absolutely charming and welcoming. The restaurant is located in a classic home, spacious, with high ceilings and fresh open spaces. The others who rave about Chao Chan are right — it is truly worthy of five full stars.

Highly recommend Chan Chao!! We got tofu khao soi and tofu pad kee mao takeout and both were delicious! The staff was really friendly and the decor at the restaurant was cozy and updated in a lovely older building. I'm so glad they opened and we're definitely going to be back for takeout and dining in! They even drew this sweet message on our takeout box ❤️

Huge recommendation for Chan Chao, the new Thai restaurant on Petaluma Blvd. Delicious food, great service and super clean restaurant. The bathroom alone was likely the cleanest and best smelling restaurant restroom I've ever experienced! I loved the choices on the menu. You pick the base dish, the meat and level of spiciness. All 3 of us loved our choices, Teriyaki Chicken, Pad Thai with prawns and fresh ginger veggies with chicken. So good. Will definitely go back. Thank you, Ladies, for a wonderful lunch!

Crispy shrimp rolls are awesome. Simple, a little sweet, and delicious. Nothing but shrimp and a little coconut. The wings are out of control good. Very crispy, slightly spicy, and a lot sweet… sticky sweet. The pumpkin curry was a little watery and the pumpkin was undercooked, but the dish was FULL of flavor. The Thai basil with chicken was the right blend of aromatic and hearty.

Hope to be back again next time I’m coming tho Petaluma

We went in after seeing the sign, hoping to find a good and authentic Thai restaurant, and that's exactly what we found. The food tasted just like in Thailand without trying to compromise. The real deal, including the burn-your-toung papaya salad. The green curry was perfect, and it and the Stick your eyes and mango dessert brought us back to our time in Thailand. Recommended.
