Contemporary & traditional Thai food served in a modern venue with a spacious courtyard patio.
This place has insane value. Each dish is quite cheap and are big portions. A great spot for a family style dinner, the more people the better. The interior is spacious and open with tradition yet modern vibes. There are plenty of outdoor seating as well. Food is tasty, but the pad Thai was not the best.
Saladang Garden is my favorite Thai restaurant in all of LA! Been going here for years and the quality of the food, staff, and environment has remained top notch. My favorite dish is Thai basil eggplant with both tofu and chicken. Of course I need to get it with a side of sticky rice. Always plenty of parking on the street or in their parking lot. Honestly, I'd eat here every day if I could!
Still doing outdoor seating! Two of us shared a large coconut soup (Tom Kha) and added shrimp. It was very savory. The staff do not serve it, you dish it out yourself. I ordered green bean and shiitake mushroom stir fry and added beef to it. It's a family style size and doesn't come with rice. My husband ordered the lamb curry. I don't do spicy but I tried his food. It was delicious and not spicy. The brown rice was the spiciest item on his plate. His meat practically fell off the bone as he cut. Once our food was delivered we didn't have any service. Good thing everything was fine. Will return because the food was yummy. More attention would have been appreciated. We had to waive down staff to get to go containers and the check.
First time I came here that must have been a decade ago and the food was great. Then the food quality was going downhill and I have stopped coming here for awhile. I came back here a few days ago and the quality of food has improved a great deal. However, they were obviously short staffed so it took awhile to be seated and took our orders. The curry soap noodles were so good. Everything else was tasty as well.
I’ve been going to Saladang for years, but have only recently started going to Saladang Garden. They share the same ownership and the quality of food is excellent.
I highly recommend the lamb shank curry. That dish alone would have me coming back for seconds. I look forward to trying their other menu items.
Bad customer service. They beg for a tip when their customer service is really poor. I have seen them chasing somebody all the way to the entrance because they forgot to tip
Surprisingly bland food. For cry from an average thai town restaurant in East Hollywood. Worse even was the service- I have rarely seen such inattentive staff in LA.
Very good and perfect Thai food with the best 5 star place
Delicious Thai food in a beautiful and modern garden setting, tables inside and out. Happy good service
A nice meeting place outside in the afternoon with good friends.
I have loved this restaurant for years. Sadly, the quality of the food was so poor; I will not return.
I have been going to this restaurant since it opened years ago. After my last 3 visits however, I am disappointed that this place is not that nice anymore. The quality and freshness of the food has really dropped. The Pad Thai has little flavor and it’s mostly congealed noodles. Service, even for 2 at lunch, seemed to be difficult for the staff. Very scattered. We had to ask for plates! The wrought iron chairs are so uncomfortable. My lunch buddy says she likes the competing Saladang across the parking lot better.

Dinner on a Saturday night started around 7pm. We ordered the seafood salad, cashew chili beef, curry lamb shank, and stir fried eggplant. The seafood salad was quite large, with a good amount of calamari, mussels, crab chunks, and greens, dressed lightly in a vinaigrette. It was fresh and light. The chili cashew beef was a bit too saucy snd one dimensional (sweet). The beef was chewy and didn't have much flavor. The lamb shank was quite tasty and the rice has peanuts to add a delightful crunch. Eggplant dish was a bit oily, but the eggplant was creamy and well seasoned. Atmosphere is a bit industrial and service attentive and quick. Good in a pinch, but not my favorite.
The eggplant seemed old
The papaya salad - was ok - I have had much better! A huge wedge of cabbage (?) was put on top- !
The tofu was chewy!
Great food....
Fresh
Delicious
Beautiful place, great food
Great food, beautiful location, friendly staff! The curry and the
pad thai are all amazing dishes! Definitely will be back!
Food was tasty! The Pad Thai and Brown Curry are served family style, the server wasn't quite clear on that. But overall, very good!
The place is good and dishes looked great. Ordered the the veggie pumpkin curry and asked for very mild, it was way too spicy. I should have sent it back.
My partner got the veggie green curry and that was better (very mild)
Also last called for dishes at 7:30… so get there very early if you are dining.
Still one of the best places for Thai food. Their Pad Thai is excellent, as is the Chili Basil (I had it with pork and it was delicious) the Salad Rolls (fresh raw spring rollsl are a great appetizer.
Great place on Pasadena for excellent Thai food
FOOD
SPICY THAI FRIES $12
The seasoning was tasty, but the texture of the fries was mediocre. They were akin to grocery store frozen fries. The portion was large, though, too much for two people.
LEMONGRASS SOUP (TOM YUM) Small w/shrimp $10
Pleasant broth, but the soup contained too many inedible ingredients. The galangang slices felt and tasted like raw ginger. There was quite a bit of some kind of woody shoot (bamboo?). The texture of the lime leaf was unpleasantly firm/waxy.
PUMPKIN CURRY w/ chicken $15 & WHITE RICE $2.50
Enjoyable, but not spectacular.
GREEN BEAN & SHIITAKE MUSHROOM STIR-FRY w/ beef $16
Sent this one back. The veggies were good, but the beef was tough and overcooked. It seemed like it had been microwaved. Some pieces were cool or lukewarm while others were piping hot.
SERVICE
Three different young ladies helped us. No one was rude, but neither was anyone particularly friendly. When the soup was brought out, the server asked us what else we had ordered. The fries and entrees arrived shortly after. No one came to see how we were enjoying our meal, so I had to flag someone down about the stir-fry. She did offer something else, so I asked to see the menu again. She left to get us a refill while we looked at the menu but forgot to come back! Eventually another server came along. We were going to order a salad to replace the stir-fry, but it had been so long we just asked for our bill. The girl who had left the menu did come back with the refill and to bus our table while our check was being processed. She said, rather bluntly, "I forgot to come back. Did you want something else?" She never apologized about the stir-fry or the failure to return for my replacement order, nor did a manager ever appear.
ATMOSPHERE
The website boasts: "with exquisite décor and elegant ambience, it is the ideal setting for romantic rendezvous". The patio looked lovely, but it was a chilly evening. None of the outdoor heaters were operating, so we opted to sit inside. The dining space has high ceilings and concrete floors, but it felt more "abandoned warehouse" than "hip industrial." There are no booths, just open floorspace with tables and chairs. The food is brought out on noisy rolling carts, which added to the overall cafeteria feel. We didn't get the romantic vibe we were hoping for.
OVERALL
It was a disappointing experience for our anniversary dinner. It might be okay for a casual lunch on a nice day to sit outside, but we likely won't return.
service no good
Great food, great service! Good lunch specials, I got their yellow curry and it was delicious!
I dont like Thai food. Went to a party for my niece. Food was okay. My favorite was the crab rice
We drive all the way here just for the chicken lettuce cups! Worth it.
Good food, great ambiance & wonderful & attentive staff! Will be back for sure.
This is a really cool place with good food and service.
I love gluten free options they have. Flavorful and delicious! Easy parking, servers are kind and I like the vibe.
Tom Kha shrimp and chicken pad thai were so good. Big portions, too.
Great outdoor seating and friendly services.
Finer dining prices with fast food grade service. Go elsewhere.
It turned chilly in the evening and we asked if we could have one of the 12 heaters they have outside turned on at our table. The first answer was “we don’t do the heaters outside”. The second person I asked said “we don’t have propane”. Either way - how is that possible for a restaurant that is mainly outside?
Even though they close at 8, they shut off the music at 7:15 and brought things inside.
We asked one person why the music is off - so they “checked” but never came back.
After nobody had come, by 7:40 I came inside to ask for to go boxes and the bill. I asked another server why they had turned off the music outside. She said “we are closing!” I said, “we were still eating!” (And you close at 8)
Then she said - “the internet went out!”.
Which one is it??
After following me outside and yelling that same answer at my whole table, the music miraculously came back on about 20 seconds later.
Maybe it was a bad night for them, but it was my first time and I’m never going back.
Food was OK.
Slow service
We ate outdoors on a Monday night and it was not busy so we almost felt like we were by ourselves. We were waited on very promptly and the food delivery was very fast. They have lots of really interesting menu items so we tried a lot of different things and everything we got was delicious.
perfect pad kee mao and khai man gai
Excellent food. Would have liked the outdoor heaters to have been working
Lo visito por mas de 15 años,todo muy rico
No disappointment every visit.
I love this place, food is really great and green curry is my favorite.
I’ve been going to Saladang for years, but have only recently started going to Saladang Garden. They share the same ownership and the quality of food is excellent.
I highly recommend the lamb shank curry. That dish alone would have me coming back for seconds. I look forward to trying their other menu items.
Im truly like how big this restourant and the soup and lunch special was the best!
Try their yellow curry!!!🤩
Extremely poor service. I came here multiple times but they never failed to disappoint me.
Waitresses do not greet when people walk in or out.
They pretend as if they didn't see me when I try to make an eye contact for service.
When I ask for thing, they would bring it but with a rude face expression.
I seriously wonder why they even bother to work there, if they don't want to work.
Atmosphere is good, food is decent.
I would probably get better service from North Korea.
Worst service ever.
The food is really good ,It's the kind of food where there's no thing left to take home cause it's so good.
Love the food, but just went to eat and was turned away at 7:30pm. They said they were closed.
OMG! Try their food, it’s soooo goood, I got my money’s worth, no regrets!
Excellent
Do not waste your time and travel going to this restaurant. Twice, I've tried to eat supper here and both times found that the staff decided to close early. Their operating hours as posted on the Internet and as posted at the restaurant! are not honest or adhered to. In fact, as I'm writing this review it's more than 25 minutes earlier than the posted closing time - yet they claim they are closed. Huh? This is uncharacteristicly disappointing customer service for the area. There are so many good restaurants in Pasadena - choose one of them instead of wasting your time with this one.
Great place great food
I used to eat in this restaurant 10 years ago, it was great. The food was tasty and the service was good. We returned now, 8/2022, and it was very disappointed. Food was salty, soups had no flavor and the drunk noodles tasted like molasses. 😔
Probably The Best Thai place I have ever eaten in SGV area. Not just that they have a huge outdoor seating area with decors made you feel like eating inside a palace, the food is big portion size with flavors not too salty nor too sweet.
There's one thing I personally have eating Thai food that is I LOVE the complex flavor in Thai, BUT I am also sensitive to too much salt or sweetness that most of Thai places out there. So eating Thai is kinda tricky for me, but not this place 😋👍I just can't believe I drove down the same street for more than two years and never knew about this restaurant until now.
We arrived at 7:15, and the staff clearly informed us that the restaurant closed at 8 so we needed to order quickly. They explained that the **kitchen** shut down at 8.
The outdoor patio was large and comfortable. Service was prompt and accurate. We ordered the papaya salad, mixed vegetable stir fry, green curry with tofu, and trout. The trout was served with a dressing of matchstick apples with vinegar, which was piquant and complemented the fish.
Free off street parking. Reliable cooking.
Food was incredible service was okay.
The worst Thai food ever! Food was bad, environment was dirty, service was awful and overall I would rate this 1 out of 5. We used to go to this restaurant for years and enjoying it very much, but moved out of Pasadena and didn’t go for few years. We went there yesterday with the same expectations but we were shocked that this restaurant is NOT the same as before! The ownership was changed… we asked and they said yes not the same owner. The place was like a storage of broken chairs and tables all stack up at different corners of the patio. Quality of food was the worst, my husband and I both got sick afterwards. The server was so rude and inattentive, she was taking our order with not taking notes just memorizing… our food came out sooooo late and very different from what we ordered… they brought us the wrong coconut soup, we started eating it as we thought it was ours, then all of a sudden another server came in and aggressively took the bowl of soup away and said this was not yours!!!! We were eating it and he came and took the food away!!!!!! Can you believe it? I don’t know where are these 4 or 5 stars coming from? Probably these are from where the old ownership was taking care of this place… do not waste your money amd time by gojng to this horrible place.
The server was friendly, and food was quickly served. I love the pad thai and king crab fried rice.
Good food. Great Service.
Food just ok...
Food is yummy, staff is what to expect 10/10 would eat again. We are in California so prices are to be expected
Very good high-end Thai food. The lamb massaman curry is excellent.
Some of the tastiest food I've had in months
I love Saladang Garden! I love the "garden walls" tall metal cut out walls surrounding the restaurant. We chose to sit inside because it was a bit chilly.
TIP for LUNCH: Arrive early because the place fills up. We were seated immediately. The options on the menu were a lot, breakfast, lunch or regular menus. I chose the Pad Thai from the lunch menu, but it was a bit too sweet, yet I enjoyed it. My husband ordered from the regular menu, pineapple fried rice which comes with shrimp and chicken. It's a huge mountain portion! He took half of it home for later.
Service was excellent! When I needed a refill on my Jasmine Ice Tea it was filled immediately. When my husband's beer was finished he was asked if he wanted another!
Parking is free on the lot between Saladang Garden and Saladang. Entrance is from Arroyo Parkway.
Next time I am in Pasadena I will definitely to to Saladang Garden!
Excellent food and service. I highly recommend the Basel and Chilli beef and the corn fritter.
Great place in Pasadena old downtown. Fascinating architecture and fine dining. Excellent place to enjoy food w friends
좋아요 풍성한 야채 메뉴라서 아시안들이 먹기에는 나쁘지 않았어요
I ordered take out from Saladang Garden as many other places in the area were closed prior to The Rose Parade. The food was great. I had Panang Curry with Chicken, Pad See Ew with Beef, Tom Yum Soup with Chicken and the House Special Fried Rice. The fried rice had both beef and chicken. Everything was wonderful.
Excellent food generous portions, very nice atmosphere, very attentive wait staff. Excellent all round
This place is better during the summer and spring. It was really cold despite being indoors during the winter. The food was pretty good. Had some coconut fried shrimp that were okay, nothing special. Their coconut vegetable soup was really great, warm spices and nice body. They had some kind of grilled chicken that was a bit bland. Their crab fried rice was amazing though. They didn't overpower the delicate flavor of the crab
Good Thai food with excellent service.
The food was delicious. We attended a 9 course meal, so the food was served family style.
Good location, clean, seating was nicely spaced out. Food was good, service was nice but a little slow.
Hands down the best Pad Thai - I don't say that lightly! Also, the fried cat fish is one of the best in Pasadena. I highly recommend the lunch specials.
Delicious food with a wide selection
Very friendly service, clean environment, really good food.
First time I came here that must have been a decade ago and the food was great. Then the food quality was going downhill and I have stopped coming here for awhile. Seafood fried rice must try...very tasty.
Delicious, fresh hot food...friendly attentive service, very clean!!!!
Delicious, hot food! Great quick seating and service. Friendly staff, fin atmosphere and very clean!
Good food. Mediocre service, and terrible hours. Says closing is at 8:00 pm but they stop seating customers at 7:15. Be a real restaurant with reasonable hours!
Nice
Love me see Saladang. Best pad see ew around.
I think everything could have been better— service and food. Initially, we went to the restaurant next to this place. But seriously, the workers didn’t seem like they wanted our business. Once we walked in, they pretended like we were invisible—no greeting whatsoever. So, we walked out and came to this place, which was slightly better in terms of getting us a table. But, honestly, the workers were not too friendly. The food was okay, but it didn’t wow us. And, I wouldn’t rate this place too high on cleanliness either.
the food was great
Super original and delicious. Great place too
It is one of my favorite restaurants. It is beautiful and the food is excellent. I like the Yum salad. It is eggplant and grilled shrimp with a lime sauce.
But everything is good
visiting from out of state. we arrived at 7 pm, we were immediately told by male waiter that kitchen was closing at 7:30, he was rushing, slapped a paper on a table and was annoyed as i wanted to sit at another table. waitress with braids was incredibly nice. food was ok. experience was just less than par, by being rushed. soup arrived, main course not 2 minutes later- we won’t return!
Good Thai food and nice outing to eat
Wonderful Thai food.
Excellent food and services. Staff was very friendly. We had a party 16 of us. Yes, we all social distance into 3 separate table's. This is a great restaurant. Thank you.Saladang Garden!!
I love this place. Fresh food, tasty dishes to try and great customer service. 💯👍🏼
Good food , service and price.
We get the corn fritter every time. All their food is delicious, and menu is very clear on what each item is.
Came here to celebrate my birthday and it was definitely a good choice! We had a pretty wide selection of food since it's mostly family style and I can say that it all tasted great! Everything from the pad thai to the chicken fried rice was fresh and savory. Ive never seen thai green ice tea before and wasn't disappointed trying it out. We ordered a mango sticky rice for dessert and they were nice enough to give us some ice cream for my birthday!
Great staff and always great food.
Perfect for online orders.
It's no wonderful that the Garden was already set up for outside dining even before the lockdown. We've been here twice in the last month and enjoyed it both times. My only complaint is that when we were there not enough of the propane heaters were working, so it got pretty chilly. But the food is still tasty, the service is friendly, and the atmosphere is great.
Beautiful food served with a smile in covid safe outdoor setting.
Try the curry noodle soup!! Just try it!
Great food, lots of selection & friendly staff!
We had to waive down staff to get to go containers and the check.
My first time ordering from here and it was take out. The young lady who assisted me was rude during my brief interaction with her. I placed a $67 order and was only given 3 condiments. When I asked for additional condiments I was met with a visibly frustrated face and was practically thrown the extra condiments. I did not appreciate that at all. Coming home I realized there was no napkins or cutlery provided in my order. I am dissatisfied with the customer service from this particular young lady. I feel that customer service is equally important as the quality of food. I support small business. Especially in my neighborhood. I won't be a returning customer. Treat your customers with love.
Food ok for the price
Great Thai food in a large open patio at very reasonable prices. Very friendly people.
Safely seated outside, and the food was delicious!
Good food
One of the best Thai restaurants in LA / Pasadena. The curries are fresh tasting and the pad Thai is truly very good. Even the spring rolls
/ vegetable rolls are crispy and delicious
This is the Garden area of the two Saladang restaurants on the same place separated by a parking lot. Good food, attentive staff and pleasing garden setting.
Amazing food!!!
Great food and great space for outdoor dining. Good wholesome atmosphere.
Before COVID I went here about once a week -- always good food, and reasonably good service. Saladang had its own flavor set that sets it apart from other Thai restaurants in the area, and it keeps me coming back for more.
I eat a lot of Thai food, and this place is in my top 3.
I've only been once but the food was delicious and served very generous portions.
Move over Saladang!
Good Thai food. Sketchy service.
Delicious! Great service, prices and decor
We LOVE Saladang! Years of traveling to Chiang Mai, Thailand for work, left us with an enormous appetit for Thai food. Khao Soi being the #1 craving and which is not easily found in the States. Saladang has this delectable Northern Thai curry soup! They do a great job too. While most people get a bowl and share it, we each get a bowl and take home left overs. We might be able to finish if we didn't get the Bangkok wings or various other delicious appetizers. The padThai is good, massaman is good and the coconut ice cream with sticky rice is a must. Enjoy!
Great food, great prices. The papaya salad is great!
Me gusta este lugar.
This place is fantastic. I love all the flowers and 360 glass windows all around. Architecture is so well thought out. I had the yellow curry lunch wilhich was fantastic (available everyday by the way). Would def come back here again
Best BBQ Chicken and Pad 🍜
My favorite Thai place, great tastes and flavors, lovely atmosphere!
