Contemporary, upscale dining space highlighting extensive Thai food specialties.
Reservations would serve you well here, as we waited for 15 to 20 without one. Once seated, it was worth the wait. This restaurant has been a staple in downtown LG for 15+ years. But the remodel made it a bit more upscale. I had the catfish with green curry, which was excellent. I went spicy, and yes you can choose! Spring rolls did not disappoint, my wife had the pompano delight which we highly recommend if you like whole-fish dishes. My kids enjoyed the food too! Overall it was a great experience and we'll be back!
Thai Spice is a small casual restaurant with a large menu of the usual Thai (and a few Chinese) dishes. My wife and I live nearby and have gone there occasionally over the years for dine-in and take-out meals. The food has usually been ok but the table service has been erratic. Prices have always been reasonable (at least by Los Gatos standards) given the portion sizes. In our opinion, it’s an average neighborhood place but we wouldn’t go out of our way to dine there.
Our latest meal was a takeout order of BBQ chicken ($13.95) with jasmine rice ($2.50) and a side of 3 veggie egg rolls ($9.95). The boneless, skinless chicken pieces were marinated in a very mild sauce and then grilled. The chicken was tender but the sauce was a bit too sticky-sweet. We both liked the egg rolls, which were perfectly crispy on the outside and tender inside. One meal was plenty of food for both of us.
The place was empty and tables in the main dining room hadn’t been set when I picked up my order at 6pm on a Friday, which is unusual for a downtown Los Gatos restaurant. There is no outdoor seating.
It was reassuring to see that the staff wore latex gloves and masks. But we were concerned when we noticed afterwards that the restaurant was rated poorly in its most recent health department inspection (March 8, 2022). A total of seven health code violations were recorded including unclean equipment and utensils, inadequate knowledge of food management, and unapproved thawing of frozen food. Yuck! I wish we checked before ordering because I’m sure we would’ve avoided the place based on that score. (If you’re interested, there’s a handy link to health department reports in the Yelp reviews for many restaurants.)
My rating of average should probably be lower after reading the health department report, but their previous reports have been good so this one may just be an anomaly.
They do not have their own parking but there is street parking. Lunch isn't too busy but maybe it's because it's still early? The lunch specials are a fair price and nicely portioned. The soup and salad they serve with lunch are basic but tasty! I got the yellow curry lunch special, it was flavorful, very mild spiciness to it, and a little on the ticker side. I also got pad see ew, because who doesn't like noodles.... it tasted a chard but I don't mind. Noodles were cooked perfectly. It's a large portion which is great. Service is as expected for a thai place. Overall, I would come back. Good prices for portions and food was good.
Angel wings, Green papaya salads, & Seafood pot soup are great! White rice cooked in a proper way, not too soft or too hard. The chief special we ordered, Asparagus mix vegetables with beef is a bit disappointed…… One of the asparagus skin is too old for chewing & the beef meat is not tender enough to enjoy 😬
Overall, it is still delicious! If you like spicy, sweet & sour, it is not a bad choice to visit!😄😁😃
This place is a scam. Ordered the food through their website in Los Gatos location only to know it's been prepared in San Jose. No apologies, no reimbursement, no nothing. They don't even acknowledge their fault as it's a norm. Awful stuff. Don't bother going to this place.
Their food never disappoints. I specially like their coconut chicken
Soup and delicious papaya salad.
Very good and flavorful Thai dishes though curries were a little spicier than expected. Large portion sizes. Plenty of vegetarian options. One suggestion is to improve the service a bit. The waitress brought us our bill without asking if we wanted desserts. We ended up sending back the check and ordered desserts.
My family and my visit to Thai Spice was a mixed experience. The appetizers, like the spring rolls and satay, were enjoyable, and dishes such as basil chicken, Tom Yum soup, and papaya salad were solid. However, the Fried Rock Cod Fillet with Chili Garlic Sauce and Sweet Basil needed improvement in quality and presentation. Both dinner and lunch courses could use some refinement to better meet our expectations.
The inconsistent pricing for takeout and occasional inconsistencies during dine-in were also disappointing. The main courses, while flavorful, lacked the authentic touch we were hoping for. Overall, the experience was average, and we feel that there is room for improvement in both food quality and service.
I had a large order for a work event and Thai Spice did a phenomenal job, and had excellent service. Thank you!
Usually do a takeout once in 3-4 months due to proximity of location. Food is great, service depends on the busy time. They have closed off one section during and post Covid. CA min. Wages has exacerbated it too just like any restaurant.

Delicious thai food. Great flavors
Simple basic but lovely Thai Basil Fried Rice with Tofu; went here for a team lunch from work! Highly recommend

Just good Thai food... With great service for a quick and tasty meal. Tiny place, staff is courteous and food comes fast. Occasionally you ask for "Thai Spicy" and they ignore/forget it (or just don't trust you meant where you said?).
Thai spice is a small but great restaurant in downtown Los Gatos. There is not a lot of seating so it might be difficult if you have a large party. They have a ton of great options, including vegetarian and vegan options. The lunch specials are a great deal! I got the Massaman curry with tofu and veggies, and my husband got the yellow curry with chicken. We both were very happy with our meals; very flavorful with great options. The staff was friendly and attentive. We will be back!
Thai Spice is my favorite US Thai restaurant. I used to have lunch there every week, now not so much, but I just ate there again and was reminded how good it is. Pad Thai! Highly recommend.
This is my husband's favorite Thai restaurant. He highly recommends the pumpkin curry in the pumpkin if they have it. He loves the leftovers too. Lol. And they do gluten free. Yeah.
Excellent food and great value
This restaurant has been here for very long time,a very good place for lunch
Great little place, I especially liked their fluffy rotti with its curry sauce.
I really should have tasted their Tom Kha soup.
Great food. Our service was great. Would recommend.
Thai Spice had the best pad see ew I've had in a while, with noticeable wok hei. The chicken was pretty dry as they use white meat. It would be best to go for beef or extra egg as a protein instead.
Found this gem driving by. Food was delicious and tasted fresh. The portions were great and staff was very friendly. It's now my go-to Thai place.
It’s good. The food is good but when you ask for spice, I say go the next level up then you usually would. I had to add a cup of hot sauce to mine due to the lack of spice/heat. Other than that, it is really good!
Arrived @2pm and the server rudely tells me tht we are closed even though it’s mentioned that they are open till 3pm per display n on G maps as 2:30pm..when told that my kid is hungry and we will grab fast and leave she rudely sets up the table & says it aloud that she doesn’t want to be rude ..food was pathetic and she gives a paper bill charging extra for each serving which I just paid it without arguing over it ..My suggestion:DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE
Best Pad Thai in the area!
Our favorite Thai place when we visit
One of my comfort Thai place I enjoy the most. The spice level is to the dot! Have never been disappointed having food here!
Really good Thai — but recent order feels like they stopped putting salt in yellow curry? It’s suddenly not super flavorful .
This was my first time at this restaurant and I couldn’t be happier. Best pad Thai hands down! Great restaurant and staff. Food came out fresh and fast as well. Reasonably priced with huge portions.
Great food with reasonable prices, and great service.
We ordered Tum-yum soup with prawn, spicy eggplant and yellow curry chicken. Food was very good and fairly priced. Definitely would go back. Servers were attentive and prompt.
Good food and ambience as usual. Nothing to complaint about. Even though they were packed for a Wednesday evening service was fantastic and they kept coming to check on every guest.
Just so-so. Shrimp wasn’t good great and dishes fell a little flat.
Great food and great service. My go to place for Thai takeout!
This charming and intimate little restaurant is worth a visit. All the standard Thai selections are fantastic, and each year I eagerly await the fall pumpkin specials - divine! Groups larger than 4 should make reservations.
pretty decent food. slow service. loud and cold in the small dining area.
First time there this place was super good I recommend it and I will be going back soon

cons: no outdoor seating
pros: nice indoor, good selection of food items, large portions. staff were attentive. food looked and tasted fresh and yummy. we tried 5-6 different dishes and all were yummy. everyone wanted to go back there again.
I did not eat here, but my family enjoyed their meal immensely. I would like to give a special shout out to the servers who alerted me when they discovered the dish I ordered contained gluten. They literally prevented a disaster! so many restaurants are not aware. Kudos to Thai Spice. Thank you!
Great service. Okay food.

Amazing food, ultra kind service. Some problems with European credit cards that definitely have to be fixed, but nevertheless worth it :)

Fantastic restaurant! They have great, caring service with delicious food. Good sized portions too. Definitely coming back!
Excellent Thai food with great service. Also very reasonable prices, especially for Los Gatos downtown.
Great Thai restaurant. Very good service, food and prices!
Very excellent food! Every time.
Great service, good food, very nice and clean place, definitely going to eat there again !
Mild fresh food. Good portions priced decently
Authentic Thai flavor and the staff is amazing!
The best Thai food in town. Their Tom Yom soup is packed with big chunk of squid, prawns, muscles and so on. Their pumpkin curry is so good and we never had anything like it anywhere else. Best of the best!
Very good food, good prices, fast service, nice people.
If you can’t support the load of take-out orders, don’t take the orders! These delays aren’t “the pandemic,” it’s poor planning.
Been coming here for many years. Best Thai food in Bay Area in my opinion! I have taken all of my family and friends here and they all agree. Very friendly service when they know you :)
Pretty disappointing. The pic on their site and/or Google looks like a normal classic Pad Thai but what they serve is nothing like that. It was very dry, especially without fine-sliced carrots, cabbage and very little sprouts (all are in their pic). I also just didn’t taste the great flavors of a Pad Thai, the entire dish was a bright yellow? I wouldn’t recommend at least this dish here.
We ordered the roti pan, noodles (veggie) and fried rice (veggie)..
All was going good until I found that they had pork/ chicken in my vegetation fried rice and I took a bite thinking it's tofu.. I had to call them and ask them what was it when they told me it's pork and then chicken
They were apologetic and gave me a veggie fried rice but the order was way wrong even after telling them we were vegetarians..
Food was good and they charged us for 2 items only
Good food. Service was ok. Not what I expected.
The panang and masaman were both great, we will definitely be back.
I would give 0 stars if it was an option! We were refused dine-in service and while looking for another restaurant we could see through the window that other customers were offered dine-in service. Simply put … this place is trash.
The service here was very good, we were a large group of 12. We got there just an hour before they were closing for lunch. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The food was good but not in the same calibre as the food at Thai Bangkok Cupertino.
Great food for anyone with vegetarian or vegan preference. Good size of portions too.
Charming restaurant and great food! Try the Pad See Ew or Pad Thai.
While the food we were able to eat was delicious, they made a huge mistake with our order. We told them very clearly that a person in the party had a very serious allergy to a vegetable, so please don't include it in their meal. Guess what their plate was full of? Yup, that dangerous vegetable! And not just on top, but cooked in! When informed, they did agree to make another meal of the party's choice, but then our person had to sit and wait without food, while others ate, due to the restaurant's colossal error. One that could have resulted in a trip to the ER if we had not been extra vigilant ourselves.
Because I feel sorry for small businesses I give Thai Spice 2 stars. Now at the end of the shutdown you would expect restaurants that were so greatly impacted to be happy to get customers coming in. But I didn’t experience that from Thai Spice. I ordered two dishes for takeout and I was given the choice of meats. Sounds great so far. I walked there, about a mile pulling my daughter in a wagon. When I ordered I asked for a combination of Chicken and tofu. I was told it would cost $2 more which I was happy to pay the extra to get both selection. After walking the return mile I sat down to eat but to my dismay there seemed to be twice as much tofu and half or nearly none of the chicken. I feel taken advantage of since I’m sure they figured that I wasn’t likely to walk back to claim my shortage of children. Had i dinned in the restaurant I would have complained and I’m sure they would have remedied the oversight.
Maybe this restaurant is a nice place with good food and great service on the edge of the Los Gatos Old Downtown area. But not today at the edge of a Pandemic. Service should work both ways. Businesses should do more than expected rather than less for those few patrons willing to support them.
Pretty good Thai restaurant. Prices are a bit high, portions are good, and prep time is usually fairly quick. Calling is sometimes tough, and you get a notification that the line is busy. Their selection of food is typical for a Thai restaurant.
I recommend trying the fried roti which comes with peanut butter sauce.
Exceptional! We have been coming to Los Gatos once a year for the past 7 years & this is our go to restaurant. The food is always, fresh, exactly spiced to Thai Hot & the service is amazing & always with a smile. K & S
They are still open and taking precaution measures for covid. All staff were completely protected with masks and gloves. As for the food it's very good. The shrimp pad thai and bbq chicken is very good. We always get extra peanut sauce as well because its so good. I've been here many times and certainly will keep coming back.
Really good quality Thai food 👍. We'll set up for Covid / SIP with hand sanitizer and limit on customers in the restaurant. One star from 5 b/c the prices are commensurate with the quality...not below it. Otherwise a solid choice.
Such good Thai food
Excellent thai food.
Thai Spice is my favorite restaurant of all time. Please consider ordering out during this lockdown - my family’s ordered takeout twice from here during shelter in place and it always puts a smile on our faces. After 16 years of coming here, we have narrowed down the best plates: crispy catfish, garlic pork (to die for) Penang curry chicken with white rice, pad see ew chicken. Try the larb or sataay chicken for a yummy appetizer!
Food was delicious, especially enjoy the pumpkin curry with tofu. The dish was hearty and the pumpkin was very flavorful. Service was attentive.
Wonderful food
Great thai food
Great spot for Thai food. I met up with a friend and had a vegetarian lunch special which included soup and salad as well as my entree. Unobtrusive and fast service and yummy curry flavors.
Great value for lunch with a large combo menu for $10.
Service is horrible. Food is ok.
The host - white guy with glasses and white? lady think they are doing the customers a favor by giving them the food they are paying for at a $$ restaurant. The owners should replace the staff if they expect the customers to keep coming back.
The service here is excellent. If only the tables for 2 were a little bigger. I always order the Mango Chicken, with white rice because it's a favorite. Added bonus there's always enough left over for lunch or dinner the next day!
One star for the okay food. Horrible customer service. The one white dude with glasses got zero personality as a door nail! How about training your staff with the following: welcome your customers as they come in, ask before grabbing a plate from the table, say thank you as customers leave... simple but effective gestures to earn loyal customers!
Very fast service with good food for reasonable prices. We come here for lunch often and the quality is very constant; tasty and big portions!
Lunch was ok, servers seem to have Monday blues, not very friendly.
The specials tonight were excellent -- a crispy sweet and sour salmon papaya salad, and a kabocha squash curry served inside the kabocha bowl.
All Thai restaurants get 4 stars min. if the service is decent, cuz its hard to screw up Thai food.
Excellent food. I got the red curry, medium spicy which was excellent. Not that spicy but I like spicy foods.
Unpretentious little spot with good food and nice lunch special menu at attractive prices.
Loved the Thai basil tofu! Wanted to try the Sizzling Tofu in Peanut Sauce but didn't want to pay $3 for it. Will be back to try some other yummy-sounding dishes such as Mango Chicken and Cashew Chicken.
The food was good, but too expensive for the quality.
Good customer service
Stopped here while charging at the Tesla supercharger across the street. Omg, this place is amazing. Awesome food that's incredibly flavorful with wonder service. Will definitely be back!
Good food. Cool ambiance
Ordered the Lunch Thai Massamun Curry and it is super dank! I'm biased because Thai is tied with Indian for my favorite food. Very nice 👌
The Crispy Trout and Mango salad is now on my "Eat at Least Once a week" list. They should bottle the dressing. O.M.G.
I think even Gordon Ramsey would clean the plate.
.
Great lunch value, easy access from anywhere in Los Gatos, flavorful inviting dishes. Pad Kee Mow (spicy noodles) recommended, and lunch is served with a small soup and a small salad.
Great food in a convenient location!
Good value for money
Great service. Tasty, large portions.
The best Thai food on that street.
Full Thai menu, properly prepared and presented. Meets your expectations for service. One of my go-to spots in Los Gatos.
The serve the standard Thai items but the flavor it's more defined than other restaurants. My standard dish is yellow curry with chicken. Thai Spice makes this dish come alive. The flavor is bold and the sauce is thick and creamy. We took a chance on vegetable tempura for a change and it was amazing. Best we've ever had and unlike and Japanese restaurant. The location is cozy and elegant. The staff was very attentive. There are two dining area. The front area can get crowded with people picking up takeout.
While the food is very damn good, the staff is clearly under stress from the dragon lady, I hope this changes
Good food
Good thai food.
The Tom kha soup was amazing. The fresh rolls were somehow way less than average and so was the peanut sauce. Curry was alright. I do recommend the shallot garlic rice though that's really simple but very good.
My go-to Thai place! Traditional and very yummy! Highly recommend
I had the same experience as Jose M. Who posted -staff under stress.
Been there twice and second time was insulted by the tall older Asian woman who was sweeping and didn’t appreciate the interruption of my presence. Yelled at me that “you just wait!” I was so shocked! I would never eat there again. I don’t need to pay someone to yell at me!!
Great food. Cozy atmosphere and attentive staff.
I'm addicted to their Green Curry and Spicy Noodles.
Quiet. Delicious. Great service - warm, intuitive, friendly, but also very hands off which I like. The food was fantastic! Very good lunch specials. Comfortable seats.
Have been to this place for last 12 years. Pretty decent place. Their catfish and pad kee mao are particularly good.
Very small quantity
What a great place. We use it for takeout or delivery.
I liked their food, service. Have good vegetarian options
Tasty food. Fast service. But not cheap.
Food is good and cheap, but staff is rude
