This casual Thai restaurant with a rustic setup specializes in classic noodle, rice & curry dishes.
This is my second visit and overall it was fantastic. The atmosphere is welcoming, quirky with the blend of neon signs and Thai decor, and formal enough to be a restaurant but not stuffy or too serious. The egg rolls were crispy but the filling was a touch too mushy, the drunken noodles with shrimp were perfect! I ordered medium spicy and it was enough to make my nose run just a touch. The noodles were simple but delectable and there were plenty of fresh and clean shrimp. The iced green tea was strong in a good way. Overall the pricing was fair for what you get as well. I’ll definitely be back.
One of the most authentic Thai restaurants I’ve had outside of Thailand- coming from a Thai born and raised there. Everything was so delicious, servers were so kind and the portions were huge for the price! Amazing. I’d recommend the dry jade noodles for those looking to try a new Thai dish :)
Absolutely 💯 love this restaurant. We were so happy to have such a great experience.
The staff was so very helpful and friendly. The food was fresh and delicious all the way around.
Clean establishment, the help was there to give us our best experience.
Highly recommend this restaurant
There is no shortage of incredible Thai food in Los Angeles, and Hoy-Ka fits perfectly on that list. The food is really great, service friendly and the atmosphere is casual.
The Khao-Soi with shrimp is bursting with flavor. The broth is rich, spicy and tangy. The flat egg noodles accompanied by crunchy noodles and pickled mustard greens adds great texture to the dish.
I’d return for the Khao-Soi alone, but everything I’ve had there has been good. The egg rolls are crispy and stuffed with fresh tender vegetables.
The wonton soup with shrimp was also great. The presentation is nice.
It’s a great spot for really good Thai food without breaking the bank.
We’ve been to many, many Thai restaurants in LA and this one is about to become our favorite! We had 3 dishes and they all were absolutely delicious. The satay chicken appetizer was the best one we ever had. You gotta try it. The vegetarian papaya salad was so good with just the right level of hotness we asked for and the chow menu with tofu was so delicious we licked it off the plate. Service was excellent and the place is warm and fun to be in. Highly recommended ❤️
We ordered a feast - several dishes and most were unfortunately too sweet! These dishes seem adapted to the American palate and did not taste authentic. We lived in Thailand for 10 years, so have a discerning palate for Thai food. Great service though.
Horrible customer service. Uber driver acting on customer behalf to pick up and deliver food was not allowed to use the restroom despite having to wait 10 minutes because the order was not ready.
Man o man!!! Ordered this on Valentines Day for the first time based on other reviews. We have our favorite Thai spots and really Thai food is our go to for takeout. I have to say this is definitely the best I’ve had in Los Angeles, and our new favorite Thai spot. In my opinion it was head and shoulders above the rest.
We ordered the Cream Cheese Wontons, Chicken Satay, Sneaky Pork, and a Chicken Pad Thai.
I was shocked when I moved here from Massachusetts, not to be able to find Crab Rangoons. Instead everyone has Cream Cheese Wontons. I was pleasantly surprised to find these had crab, celery, and onion. They were delicious, crispy, hot, and you can taste a little bit of all those ingredients in every bite. Came with a sauce.
The Chicken Satay was really good, and also came with a sauce. I’m used to seeing them on a stick but not here.
The Sneaky Pork was sneaky good, and probably my favorite from the order. I wasn’t expecting it. It was slightly spicy and included some broccoli which was tender crisp and great also.
The Chicken Pad Thai was amazing and the best one I’ve had here, lots of flavor. It included a lime, bean sprouts in one corner, and chopped peanuts in another corner. I kind of would agree with one of the other reviews I read here, there could’ve been more chicken. It tasted so good though, I didn’t even think about the amount of chicken until I came to write this review.
The restaurant was packed when I went to pick up, so I know people like it. We can’t wait to try some other dishes!!!
I absolutely agree with all the reviews that talk about very rude staff! I also observed how the delivery man from the food was refused to visit the toilet room in a very rude way. Yes, you have an inscription that it is only for customers, but isn't the person who delivers your food a person who is worthy to visit your magic room?
The food and atmosphere of this place will not bring you pleasure either. The food was oversalted and my wishes were not taken into account when ordering!
I absolutely agree with all people who left not excellent reviews, because I also had a bad experience there, It was a rude waitress who still works in that place.
Waitresses who worked today, the most rude ones I've met in restaurants! They ruined the whole impression!
Valet parking only, right on Sunset Blvd
Thieves! They charged $25 tax on our bill of $222.95. Then they added 16% service charge of $40.13 and on the total of $263.08 charged 18% gratuity of $51.85. There were 7 if us and we were ok to be charged tip in advance, as many places nowadays do. But that brazen robbery we didn't expect. Will never go there again. The food was good, but there are so many places with good Thai food that things like business honesty WILL affect my decision not to come back.
Very bad smell
Food was good.
Well, I had a lunch over there today. I liked the noodle soup and crispy pork..But
I don’t know it’s waiter or waitress
because the person looks like a tomboy really really rude..
Let me tell you something ..if you want to be a server. ..Try not to educate the customer… kindly explain the menu… we are from different culture.. I do understand the language barrier but I just don’t understand your attitude.
We ordered a feast - several dishes and most were unfortunately too sweet! These dishes seem adapted to the American palate and did not taste authentic. We lived in Thailand for 10 years, so have a discerning palate for Thai food. Great service though.

I grabbed a delivery from this restaurant and asked if I can use the restroom while waiting for my delivery and the answer was NO you can not use, we do not let public use our restrooms…
As a customer, I’m horrified by the way these people treat delivery drivers. I overheard one driver asking to use the restroom due to an emergency. The waitress refused to let them use it citing that the restroom was only for customers despite the fact that they were delivering food FOR their customers. Such inhumane treatment of workers trying to make an honest living is frankly despicable and disgraceful. The owner of this establishment should be ashamed of themselves.
delicious and spicy!
Amazing Thai tea!
Thai iced tea is amazing! YUM
Service is great. Fast. Ambience is perfection.
absolutely delicious
The noodles here are the best in LA in addition to the service and the ambiance.
There is no shortage of incredible Thai food in Los Angeles, and Hoy-Ka fits perfectly on that list. The food is really great, service friendly and the atmosphere is casual.

Great food and service!
Nice location on sunset street. Came for lunch with a friend and we had a great time.
If you are a Thai fan, it's a must try.
Really good food and service.
Loved the yellow curry, egg roll, and tai idea tea! Chef’s kiss!
I love this place. Best Thai noodles in LA. Service is great. Mint is my fav server but all of them are great. Always friendly, remembers me when I come in which is so nice
Best Thai food in LA!!!!! Been here so many times and it never disappoint! Food is amazing and workers are so kind
Super authentisch! Sehr lecker!
Clean water clean ice and delicious authentic Thai boat noodles! Fresh mango used in dessert! Love the fresh young coconut! Highly recommended!
Fantastic, no notes.
Absolutely 💯 love this restaurant. We were so happy to have such a great experience.
The staff was so very helpful and friendly. The food was fresh and delicious all the way around.
Clean establishment, the help was there to give us our best experience.
Highly recommend this restaurant
I went here 3 times and finally I had a chance to review! Never had a bad food or service here. They have the best crispy pork belly, hands down, and they utilize it in many of their dishes. Their curries and noodles are standouts as well.
Amazing food and service.
Très bonne expérience, plats très copieux et bons, rapports qualité prix excellent, service parfait et très agréable ! Je recommande !
Absolutely delicious. We had the noodles they're famous for - jade noodles and hoy-ka noodles, and they were both fantastic. The jade noodles came with so much protein, and the broth was special. The crispy pork larb with silver noodles was one of the best things I've ever eaten.
This place is so disgusting I have no idea how they have a 4.5 star they have no parking and place is really dirty I even seen a roach in the bathroom which is near the kitchen staff is very rude as well my wife even reported it to the health department
Crazy good and was shocked at how cheap too. The aged smokey flavor from the wok is the highlight, but seriously i was shocked it was cheap, i already knew it was best food in LA
We did a take out from Hoy-Ka Thai Noodle. Had a high expectations due to the reviews.
Highlights:
1. The curry was flavorful and fantastic. The veggies were freshly chopped.
2. The quantity of rice provided was generous and adequate wrt curry
Lowlights:
1. Pad Thai felt overrated. It missed the mark in the taste.
2. We felt super thirsty after few hours of eating the curry, this is a usual marker of possible high MSG content in the food. So, if you are sensitive of it - recommending to avoid it.
3. They should have provided us a extra plastic bowl so that we could mix the rice and curry. This caused inconvenience while eating.
Overall, 2/5 stars and would refrain from eating here again.
DELICIOUS.
Great, fun staff.
Good lunch specials.
Unsweet Ice Tea! I didn't know how scarse ice tea was in Hollywood! Lots of places just gave cans of soda/soda-products from Costco.
Really nice noodle soups. Had the dry house wide rice noodles with broth on the side and shared pork jerky and spring rolls on the side. Thai pork jerky is so delicious and probably really good with beer (or Thai ice tea). Mild spice wasn’t too hot so I may try medium next time. Wide rice noodles also were a bit too soft and shredded a bit so will go with a different noodle shape next time.
I ordered NO SPICY cashew nut and after got back home and started to eat, realized it is spicy and now I’m nauseous. Maybe you need to pay attention to people’s order and their allergies?!!!
We’ve been to many, many Thai restaurants in LA and this one is about to become our favorite! We had 3 dishes and they all were absolutely delicious. Loved this quaint restaurant! Parking was meh, but the service was absolutely excellent. My sister had lots of questions and they were incredibly helpful with every detail. Definitely trust when they say an item is spicy, they didn’t disappoint.
Love this restaurant. Great food great atmosphere and amazing service. The best Thai food I've tried.
That restaurant has a rude waitress, everything like suck! Just disrespectful people.
My fav Thai noodle spot in LA. It's quaint and unassuming. Located in the retail strip between arbys and bronson studios. Very tastey authentic thai/laos style dishes. You can't go wrong adding crispy pork to some of the dishes where that's an option. Thank you for the wonderful food, and friendly/attentive service.
Excellent food, cheap!
In my opinion, this is the best Thai food in Los Angeles. I’ve had 4 different dishes here and all were excellent. And I am not one of those people to throw 5 stars around easily. In fact I’m fairly selective. Yum yum! I take my friends here when they’re in town!
Best Thai in town, with the most charming friendly staff! I love them all
Large open eating areas. Looks newly renovated. Rear parking & entrance.
Some unusual food dishes, many with coconut milk.
My Pad Thai was great.
bad service. I ordered a soup, very simple, very salty and the waiting time was terrible.
Très bon repas, tout le personnel est très gentil et pour un prix abordable. Nous reviendrons !!
Very tasty Thai restaurant and great prices too. Our group ordered at least 7 or 8 items and enjoyed everything.
Our server was the sweetest guy, so helpful and so fun. He suggested the pork appetizer and I can’t stop thinking about it. We had the panang curry and drunken noodles with Thai tea to drink. Will be back :)
What I found here was fresh duck noodle soup. I got extra noodles and it came out to a far larger portion than I expected as well.
The place was busy even on a weekday at lunchtime.
I'd be interested in trying spring rolls next time.
Just awesome food and perfect service! We took Pad Thai with fish and seafood noodle soup with 2 Thai teas. It’s was JUST AWESOME! I’m not sure whether we’ve ever been been at a restaurant with better Thai food. Is was a gorgeous experience. We’re so happy! Thanks a lot! You’re doing a great job 🫶🏻 and see you again!
Omg, I just took one bite of my pad Thai with crispy pork and fell in love, I had to write a review, I haven't even taken my second bite yet that's how good it is, visiting from Texas here and I've been to yaowarat Rd in Thailand, this is something else, yum!
One of my favorite places. I always get the original hoy ka noodle with chicken, spice level 3 with rice noodle. I honestly crave this place. It’s so good!!!!
Great place to go have your taste buds love you.
All the dishes we ordered and shared amongst ourselves were absolutely exquisite.
HIGHLY recommend this place. Next time I'm in LA, a definite place to repeat!!!
Best of both worlds in terms of good food and nice ambience!
Muy bueno todo
Food is phenomenal but being closed on Tuesdays is a weekly frustration. I always seem to crave this place on Tuesday. Sigh…
Delicious noodles!
Nice staff
Shrink-flation portions and service. Been coming to Hoy-Ka for many years, but time to find a new Thai restaurant. Their serving sizes shrunk with new bowl sizes and waitress treated us like, we weren't welcome. Prices haven't been raised too much, but expect less portions and friendliness if you haven't been there recently. Very disappointing.
Can’t believe it took me so long to try this place! I’ve been hooked since! The food is so tasty and the staff is so warm and inviting. I’ve had a few items from the menu and even recommended friends and we have yet to be disappointed.
This was the 1st time I ordered from Hoy-Ka and was pleasantly surprised with the attractive interior decor. I ordered a "mild" dish online but it was still too spicy for my mom. I called just to let them know and they said they would immediately make another one without any spice. The host was very accommodating and the Pad Thai was delicious.
Tudo perfeito!
My favorite Thai Restaurant in LA! ❤️
Service is always fast and very friendly!
Food is consistently delicious!
Most of the time we always ordered the same thing which is Hoy-Ka noodles (we switch up between soup and dry), boat noodles, and my favorite Spicy Seafood Fried Rice (Thai spicy).
The beef Panang was plain . Not much flavor .i would give it a 2. My friend said the Patsiuyu was ok . Like a 4 or 5
Warning : the owner will charge you a mandatory 18% tip which is illegal . A tip to be given, is to be decided by the customer not the owner of the restaurant .
Great tasting! Quality Thai food with a charming atmosphere. The owner and his employees are very hard-working. They make sure you are satisfied. This is an excellent casual trendy Thai cuisine that has authentic Thai food. You can feel the culture when you walk in. The vibe is welcoming. The food was delicious and came out quickly.
There is limited parking in the back and meter parking in front of the restaurant.
George really loves watching television in this establishment. The food was very good too!
Amazing thai restaurant. I've had the chicken laarb, fried rice, beef pad sew ew, chicken satay, mango sticky rice, and I will recommend/reorder any of those dishes. The papaya salad was lacking a bit tho.
The Original Hoy-Ka Thai Noodle has quickly become one of my favorites. The food at this Thai restaurant is amazing. The food is always fresh and flavorful, and the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. The spice levels are perfect, and the portions are generous. The green curry is a must-try. Highly recommend the mango sticky rice for dessert. The ambiance at this Thai restaurant is really lovely. It's a great spot for a date or a night out with friends.
Didn’t want to accept us inside with a registered service dog. This place should be investigated. We had to leave after they told us that « the boss only allows blind people dogs »…. Employees only applied the policy of what seems to be a very interesting boss.. Completely absurd and illegal.
We ordered Pai Thai and Tom Kha Soup delivery. Pai Tai was great However we felt Kha Soup was sour so we called the restaurant and provided our feedback. The business owner was welcoming and patient. She offered a replacement for the Kha soup. We went there to pick up the replaced dish.
It was a cute restaurant hiding behind
a small door. Love the decoration and atmosphere there.
This restaurant was open in 2014 by a traditional family from Thailand. They have a family wall in a corner that showed the history. Warm and cozy. Kindness always goes a long way.
Incredible!! Staff was amazing and food was delicious! Highly highly recommend.
Veggie tempura... yummy
The best Thai in this area!
Excellent Thai food, from the crispy pork to the boat noodles. Seafood salad was good too. Would come back!
Really love this restaurant! Food is always tasty. Prices are reasonable. Staff is nice and friendly.
Delicious food!
Love this place, crispy pork is my favorite item on the menu
Their flavor just sticks out like a sore thumb! highly recommend
The very bad place
During pandemic we continued to support by takeout, and finally we eat in and it was very delicious with every dish full of flavor. Fam fav, CrispyPorkKaPrao was so crispy good, DrunkenNoodles RedCurry DuckNoodleSoup and mangostickyrice all highly recommended. Parking in the rear or street parking is available.
Our visit to this restaurant was interesting! It was the first time my wife, I, and our four-month-old kid visited any restaurant. The server was kind enough to give us excellent sittings so that we could keep our baby's stroller comfortably. After waiting for 15 mins for our friends we realized that we are at the wrong restaurant. We immediately started to leave but even after explaining the situation to the server & the staff were very kind & understanding with smiles on their faces.
Five stars for friendliness!
The Duck noodle soup is fantastic, the dipping sauce for the fresh rolls was awesome(an over used word but it applies)! We can’t wait to go back!
Came here to meet a friend over lunch. I was surprised how empty they were at 1;00 pm on a Friday. I know they're usually packed for dinner. Service was great. I appreciate that we weren't rushed as we caught up over tea after lunch. The yellow chicken curry was great. Good warmth. Good flavor. Good amount of veggies and chicken. A bit pricey than we pay for our curry in the Valley, but I'd go back.
Good Thai restaurant, nothing amazing. Parking on street and in the back of the building (kind of tight). No booze. Service is efficient. Food good with a large selection of all favorite dishes. Table seating and high bar communal seating area. Found the yellow curry to be too thin. Tom Kha was good but lots of small lemon grass pieces made it a chore to eat.
Pues comí cosas sabrosas, tuve diarrea tres días, pero fue el curry, estoy seguro. El té on leche estuvo increíble y las berenjenas, fueron excelentes.
This place offered very oily rice, soups, chicken and even salad, which was a huge disappointment because I like clean Thai food. Furthermore, the meat was not tasty: dry and not succulent (crispy pork) or downright atypical, flat and textureless (satay chicken). The highlight was the Thai green curry, which was quite nice. The sauces were also mostly decent, as were my fishball noodles (not the oily soup though). Service was also good. For this, I give 2 stars.
This was the most Westernised - in a fast food, unsubtle way - I have experienced of Thai cuisine so far. In a bad way.
We had: papaya & crispy pork salad, satay chicken, Thai green curry, seafood, fishball noodle soup.
Came here to check out their boat noodle. Eaters claimed it to be the best in town. It is indeed very good.
Simply the best
Authentic, delicious Thai food in Hollywood.
I'd expect for a place like this to be in Thai Town a little bit down the road, but this place apparently is a long standing LA institution.
I was craving Thai Boat Noodles and this place didn't disappoint.
Spice is defintely true to Thai spice levels so be more on the conservative side when ordering spicy.
Quality of food went down. It takes 45 minutes for green curry to come out and it practically tastes like coconut milk with sugar the consistency is pure liquid. So what did they do for 45 minutes ? They raised their prices yet the quality all around has gone down. Don't waste your time and money here. Go to luv2eat down the street or kruang tedd, jitlada etc. Also the male waiter has an attitude seems like he always has some excuse for everything. Not something you want to deal with.
This should be a go-to restaurant for anyone in the area. Fantastic food it's price very well. Great service and I'll be honest. Wasn't very crowded when we were there, but it was a little bit early. Downside is lack of parking. They have a few spots in the back that they share and are very hard to come by.
Ignored
Delicious meals and friendly service. Sauces were amazing however the pork was a little dry.
If you want guaranteed delicious Thai food, Hoy-ka is the spot. It never disappoints.
I always get their papaya salad: you choose your spicy level but trust me when I say they’re not white people spicy. Proceed with caution. I also usually order their boat noodle soup because you can’t really find this in most Thai restaurant. It’s very unique in its flavor and beef cut offerings (a lot of innards like liver and tripe). If you’re adventurous about food, try it. It’s the best.
The venue itself is a decent size - their high ceiling gives it a very large space feel. Their seating is a mix of 2-4 seater tables to 4-6 seater high chair, high table where your feet dangle (Hoyka means dangling leg).
Parking is always going to be a struggle - their shared lot holds about 8 cars so good luck with that. My recommendation is to do a late dinner around 8pm when it’s less busy.
good food..area not so good
Awesome food and amazing service!
Authentic boat noodle! Mango sticky rice was great. The sticky rice could've been a little bit firmer but that's just my preference.
The food was great and the price was good for the value. They have a scale from 1 to 10 for how spicy the meal should be and they are not kidding. A five was already very hot. The only thing that leads me to give just 4 stars was the service. Our waitress did not seem to be in the mood to work. She was very slow and got our order wrong. Just one order out of five, but still...
They used to be very good and authentic. It's now Americanized. Would no longer recommend this place as authentic Thai.
THE BEST!!! Everything was good, would recommend!!!
The service was good and fast, but my order wax only ok. If I'm being honest that was probably more my order choice and less the restaurant. The ambiance is delightful and the menu is plentiful. Definetly check it out.
My coworker recommend this place to me when I asked "what's the best Thai spot in la" and he did not disappoint!!! Everything was fresh to order and delicious we enjoyed our dinner.
