Curries, fried rice & other traditional Thai dishes served in a relaxed strip-mall bistro.
Nice, clean place. Food was DELICIOUS. I had the pad Thai, while others at my table had the pumpkin curry. Very good flavors, we'll be back again for all of our Thai cravings. I've heard good things about the Tom Kha soup...
My server, Ms. Noi, was very pleasant and quickly served my green papaya salad, green curry with pork and eggplant, and rice. It was more than I could eat, so later she kindly made me to-go containers. Then, I treated myself to their delectable fresh mango with sticky rice. I reheated the leftovers in my hotel micro the next day for a very yummy lunch.
I cannot even begin to explain how amazing this place is! They have incredible customer service, beyond reasonable prices and the portions are extremely large. There is very little wait on food arriving and there is always someone to check on you.
Please come support them! They are delightful!
Let me say this I work around the corner, my partner wanted to enjoy some good Thai food it looks promising. So we're seated and I already had a feeling like something was off. Our server assist us, grabbed our drinks and order. The food was great, nice selection of varities. Mind you we were the only people left sitting in the restaurant when another Thai couple comes in. So we're waiting for the check there's Noone around. I'm like okay let me be more patient since we're waiting there roughly about 20 minutes. So the wife of the restaurant the server hands me the check. Mind you I'm being stupid polite until she gets angry with me saying you paid two dollars for your bill and starts getting loud. I said correction I tipped you 2$ because your service and attitude is horrible. The fact she was trying to get snippy and loud was embarrassing. Your lucky to even receive a tip. She trying to demand I tip more. Excuse me, the only thing I highly recommend is the attitude. That needs to be highly adjusted. The fact we came in here with an open mind, trying to give these people the benefit of the doubt proved my gut feeling was right. My partner was embarrassed because I tipped not accordingly I simply said if they were more attentive, and more positive I would've left more. She was trying to make it look like I was broke and couldn't afford our meal. Hate to break it to you. I will not be returning to this location rather go to the Thai restaurant in orange which is cheaper and the customer service is amazing. At least they are well mannered and attentive. If you are looking to eat here just be prepared to have the attitude rolling in. Wish I read the reviews sooner. How you going to judge someone by the way they dress, foolishness. Your lucky I'm nice enough to leave two stars. If the owner is reading this please take notes, fix your attitude, be more attentive, don't be talking about your customers if you want them to come back, if you want people to leave you a nice tip, all you gotta do is be nice and stay positive. Also there's no need for you to be hiding in the back, when you have guest eating at your establishment.

Their food takes my stress away during finals week when I don’t have time to cook. Efficient, tasty, kind, and reasonably priced, even a college student can get dinner there a few times during midterms or finals week.
Nice, clean place. Food was DELICIOUS. I had the pad Thai, while others at my table had the pumpkin curry. Very good flavors, we'll be back again for all of our Thai cravings. I've heard good things about the Tom Kha soup...
We didn’t go for the atmosphere. And Nevermind the atmosphere, the food makes up for it. Very casual dining. Loved the Pad Thai, Yellow Curry (mild), brown and white rice. The Tempura Shrimp was good, but different than Japanese tempura (didn’t realize it is a Thai dish too)…darker more heavy tempura, but good. Thai tea was good, but not the best we’ve had. Overall, and most importantly, it “hit the spot!” More than satisfied. California not only knows how to party, but knows how to Thai Food. (Wah-wah…stupid joke.)
Great food and service! You could taste the quality in the ingredients and cooking 100%. Felt like they did a great job keeping oil usage light too
Food is average tasting, take it from someone who has been to many Thai restaurants. I regretted to spend around $40 eating here.
The service is the worst, they didn't ask for your permission to take (grab) the dirty dish right after you finished eating and hand you the bill right away, rushing you to pay and get out pronto. They also gossip to each other saying things about the customers (I happened to understand Thai).
Definitely not coming back here anymore, BYE !

Had a craving for thai food and decided to give this spot a try after seeing glowing reviews. I was disappointed. The food was flavorless and didn't seem very fresh. I ordered pad thai, pad kee mao, Massaman curry, side of white rice, and vegetable egg rolls.
The egg rolls were ok. Oddly enough, they seemed a bit stale.
The pad thai was not good. The noodles were dry and seemed old.
Pad kee mao had no spice and flavor. Lettuce and cucumber that accompanied the dish tasted rancid.
Massaman curry was just ok. Again, lacking in flavor and there were clumps of what looks like sauce powder throughout the curry broth.
Definitely won't go back and will find another thai place.
I ordered from here for delivery. Heard from a friend that this is the best authentic Thai food restaurant. It was very good. The food tasted like the food I had when I visited Thailand a few years ago! Delicious.
So goooood! I went back twice in the same day for lunch and dinner! I didnt know this place has legit thai food and i live like 10 mins drive from it! And im a Thai workationing in OC!
Pretty good Thai food!
It's been a minute since I've gone out for Thai, and I was glad I randomly picked this place. I work so close to this place and surprisingly haven't come across it. It's definitely not easily spotted on any of the main streets and is in what looks to be a somewhat dead strip mall, or at least that's how it looked when I went during dinner time.
My girlfriend and I came here a few hours before closing, hoping there wouldn't be a wait. Luckily there wasn't! There was only about 3 parties dining in.
When you walk in you'll see some nice lighting along the left wall and a fairly clean restaurant.
We got seated, ordered some hot tea (it's cold nowadays!), and took a look at the menu.
The menu has a lot of items, like appetizers, rice dishes, and more. I went ahead and ordered the Pad Thai Combo, my girlfriend got the Pad See Ew, and we got the Mango Sticky Rice to finish it off.
In case you're wondering how the food was:
- Pad Thai Combo: Delicious, and a hefty portion. The combo has pork, shrimp, and beef. The menu doesn't say that you can choose a spice level for this dish, so I specifically requested it to be very spicy. It was perfect.
- Pad See Ew: My girlfriend liked it, and I also tried it (and helped her finish it). She got it with pork. The pork was cooked well done and the noodles al dente. I'm not a fan of this dish in general anywhere, but I can say it was pretty good.
- Mango Sticky Rice: Ripe mango and sticky rice, incredible. I feel like the rice to mango ratio was just right for me :D.
Service was good. The server was friendly and we were greeted when we entered as well as when we left.
There's plenty of parking. There are neighboring businesses but many are vacant.
Give this place a try!
Everytime we went back to CA! This is nearby ours place and we love the food from there.
Good food

Get the pumpkin curry and thank me later.
It was unusual to get noodles wrapped in tin foil that crumbles in to the noodles.
What was supposed to be meat stock with soybean miso paste, and oyster sauce gravy, Instead they made a very thick egg drop/stroganoff soup (with meat stock I suppose) and a few fermented whole beans and lemongrass that I couldn't taste because of the ton of black pepper.
Flavor 80% black pepper, 5% salt ad lemongrass, the rest is like egg drop soup. Nothing like Rad Na curry/stew.
I couldn't finish it half way because how heavy it was on black pepper.
Very good Thai food in the area. Pad Thai was tasty as well as the mango sticky rice. Definitely worth trying out.
This place SUCKS! Worst customer service I ever experienced in my life I grew up with Thai neighbors and cousins on my dads side I know Thai and these people gossip all day about customers. I came in got a tea sat down for my order and heard them talking about my weight and my clothes. Didn’t even wait for my food I just left and my bank refunded me today. AVOID! And side note on the tea it was way too watery and acidic, either their tea to water ratio is off or they used tea from 5+ hours ago ew.
Green curry is good. The chicken was dry.
The Tom kha soup is too creamy.
Pad Thai is too sweet. Lemon fish is really sour.
Most excellent customer service and great food.
So goood
Avoid this restaurant if you want to eat good food. They served yesterday’s fried rice and pad Thai. Dry food, stingy with sauces. 75% ice in a large glass of Thai iced tea. The restaurant wants to make money and don’t care about quality of food or service. Hotels nearby go there for the convenience. They don’t get repeat customers. Restaurants like this ought to be closed down. Don’t eat there.
An average Thai Restaurant in Lake Forest. The inside of the restaurant was clean and the overall ambiance was good. We ordered beef Fried Rice, pad Thai, fried tofu and Thai iced tea.
Fried rice had very little beef and was dry. Pad Thai was super dry. The chef was stingy with the sauce. Large Thai iced tea had 75% of the glass filled with ice. A few sips of the drink and it was over. We had to order another small Thai iced tea with no ice (costs more) and poured it into the large glass to make up the difference. Their overall service was good, we didn’t have to wait long to get food. But their food is no good. They are stingy with seasoning and sauces. Won’t be going there again.
An average Thai Restaurant in Lake Forest. This location is 4 minutes walking distance from Hotel Hilton Garden Inn Irvine Spectrum Lake Forest. We came to this restaurant to eat dinner during our Lake Forest trip. The inside of the restaurant was clean and the overall ambiance was pleasant. We ordered Spicy Fried Rice and Pad See Ew Noodles. Their overall service was good, we didn’t have to wait long to get food. But their food disappointed us the most. Spicy Fried Rice was average and Pad See Ew was the worst Pad See Ew Noodles we have ever had. We went to many Thai Restaurants better than this place so not gonna recommend Bhan Baitong for Thai Food.
Angel Wings and crab fried rice are wonderful! 👍
love the pad thai
Very good, home made Thai food!
Bomb food and good prices and portions.
The food was fantastic and the service was great. Tom Kha soup is delicious.
Best pad see ew that I’ve had anywhere. It is so velvety and flavorful. Yum! Also just ordered the Tom Kha soup with chicken and it is SO good. Highly recommend this place to everyone :)
Lunch hour
Got the Pad See We ( chicken )
- dry chicken
- some noodles uncooked/hard
* will not return
Great food, prices gone up a bit in the last 3 years, but it is always yummy, we usually get the Crying Tiger, any of the curries and Pad Thai, Papaya Salad, Prik Khing and Pad Se Ew or Rad Na.
Excellent place! Their food is delicious and customer service is great. We tried pad se ew and their curry. Definitely coming back to this place
Great Thai food for this area. Great service. They were closed for lunch but still fulfilled my To-Go order. Will be back
Good food and good service. Its very close to my work location and I feel it’s healthy as well. My favorite is Yellow curry with soup and salad. All food items was good. Pad Thai is also one of my favorite at this location. Thai tea great drink if you choose to spice up you food.
I am so glad I found this place, they have super fresh soups and great vegetarian meals. I got vegetarian tom kha 🍲and pad kee mao, I was impressed by the taste.
Clean place, friendly staff and great food. Try the Tom Kha soup for sure.
We loved the Tom Kha soup and Pad Thai. Sause was just fine, not too much 💯 Service is good.
Been here probably 50 times over the years. The food is always great. The Pad See Ew is the best.
Authentic Thai but they sure need to learn hospitality
Great ginger chicken lunch special
Nice clean restaurant, food is consistently good. Just a little disappointed last visit because they ran out of one ingredient I went there for.
I was super hungry and fortunate that this Thai Restaurant was open since it was after 3 p.m. Turns out, it was great! I enjoyed my pad kee mao and a small bottle of Singha beer. I ate inside, something I still don't do often. There were two other diners seated about 12 feet away, so no reason for anxiety. The server wore a mask and was there whenever I needed something. I decided to order food to go to have for dinner: Tom kha noodles soup with shrimp and panang curry with pork. Both were delicious and enough to have for lunch the next day. I will certainly return to Began Baitong!
Excellent customer service, amazing food.
My boyfriend and I were craving some Thai food and weren’t too familiar with any restaurants in the south county area. Google definitely led us here from the reviews and we were not disappointed. We ordered through DoorDash and opted to pick up instead of having our food delivered.
We chose the PAD SEE EW, CRYING TIGER, and PAPAYA SALAD. We always rate Thai restaurants by their PAPAYA SALAD and we were so surprised by the amount we received! It was huge!! And really a good level of spice (we ordered mild just in case). The PAD SEE EW was super tasty and savory and the CRYING TIGER was tender. We both enjoyed the sauces that came with the beef, one green and brown, both light and complimentary to the sliced cuts of beef.
Overall, this place earned our loyalty. It’s one of my favorite spots now and I really love how they don’t skimp on the flavor or portions.
Tonight's Pad Thai shrimp, and crab fried rice was the best. Chinese broccoli and crispy pork was good but the lean parts of the pork can be a little too hard, and the flavor is strong enough to eat with steamed rice.
Delicious.....I ordered the Pad Thai and it was authentic and perfection! Also had the shrimp tempura 👏👏👏 delicious!!
Amazing food! Been ordering for almost 3 years now and it’s by far the best Thai food I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating.
Delicious food and wonderful staff. Helpful. And reccomend the yellow curry!
The food was so good! We got several dishes and shared them family style. There was plenty of food and it was well seasoned. The flavors were spot on and the portions were good. The staff was very friendly. I look forward to going again!
I ordered 2 special menu items: Khao Soy and soft shell crab and they are both super duper delicious. The first one in America that has such authentic taste.
The dessert is really good and big portion for the price. 3 people to finish that and it's only $3.99
Definitely want to go back more and more
This is a really good thai food restaurant i would recomend to try the milk tea with Boba and their fresh spring rolls
Chicken in pad see ewe was dry...but good flavored noodles
Place an order online and I'm told 20 minutes. Arrive 20 minutes later, told it'll be ready in 10-15. Wait with several other people who are waiting on their take out orders (as more and more arrive to wait). 20 minutes go by and I finally go in and ask and the guy grabs my food that's been sitting on the counter for who knows how long. There's plenty of other Thai restaurants in the area that can staff a shift and provide good tasing food in the area. Thought I'd try this one but what a poor first impression.
Great food, descent prices, w quaint atmosphere and overall friendly staff.
I ordered fried shrimp salad. Liked it
Just came back from Thailand last week & was craving some authentic Thai food, the places I've been to before my trip weren't going to hit the spot. So I searched for authentic Thai restaurant & Bhan Baitong was most recommended. They did not disappoint! Ordered the Tom Kha soup with shrimp and it was AMAZING! The flavor was spot on... I closed my eyes while I partook and imagined I was sitting on the beach with my feet in the sand in warm weather! Also got the pineapple fried shrimp with chicken and it was delicious too! Service was good not great, but it wasn't great in Thailand either... haha. I'll go back for those amazing flavors! Well done!
The food is very well seasoned, very tasty.
Wanted to love This because it looks so good. Got a to go order of tofu pad Thai. Flavor was nonexistent, tasted like noodles and nothing else despite looking delicious. Very disappointed. Pad se ew was just as bland. Not sure what happened.
Amazing food!!!
I just love this place! Always great food and service. The Pad Thai was great and the spring rolls are huge!
Great Food, Tom Yum soup one of the best I have tried , Cashew Nuts also excelent
Excellent food highly recommended
Excellent thai food
Quick service! Delicious food! Best deal on thai food in town.
After several weeks of mediocre to bad dining experiences, finally a place I can rave about! This thai restaurant is located in a offbeat strip mall in Lake Forest. We showed up for dinner at 7 on a Saturday. There was a good stream of people in and out and the interior had a chic thai express decor. Well lit and clean, the dining area is gorgeous and utilitarian simultaneously with the kitchen and bathrooms partitioned away with beautiful wick dividers.
Make sure to check in on yelp and get a free thai iced tea! For a starter we ordered Chicken Tom Yum spicy soup. The soup was perfectly flavored. The broth was fresh and lemony. No artificial tang from salt or spice from some sauce. The spice was with fresh chilies and the tang was lemon juice. One bowl was enough as a starter for both of us.
For our main course we ordered a Chicken Pad Thai spicy and a Chicken Red Curry with some white rice. The pad thai was really on point with the perfect spice and sweet. They serve enough to fill two people and they make everything only when ordered. We were so full from the Pad Thai, we took the Red Curry to go and will eat for lunch today.
For all that food, our bill was less than $30. I was pleasantly surprised with such a bargain for such a feast. I hope to come back real soon!
I often come here for dinner with my friends.
Nice and quiet, food was tasty and service was very good
One of my favorite Thai restaurants
Not bad but average
Really good Thai food 👌. Great service. Will be coming again.
Best thai place in lake forest
Finally, we found some decent Thai food in Orange county. Last visit was disappointing 😞. BBQ chicken was dry as a bone. Everything else was yummy 😋
Love the green curry everything has been delicious
Some of the best thai food in the area. Great lunch specials too!
Just ok but not too good
Delicious thai food.
Orginal Thai food.
Authentic and very good, but not a lot in portion!
Great food here
Big and tasty
Don't get here offend but love this place! Crab fried rice, angle wings and the beer with the elephant on it!!!!
I love this place. Great for lunch or a quick bite to eat. The food is always good and they have very friendly service. Order the mango sticky rice for dessert.
AMAZING! We shared 5 dishes and everyone of them was superb! I wish we lived closer!!!
The food was very flavorful and the service was good too.
Love this place! Best Thai food around!! And such great and friendly service!
Ok, not special.
A nice Thai place to stop by. Isn't very spicy, even if you ask for it though.
I love this Thai restaurant. I have been there 5 times and this is certainly the best Thai restaurant in the Lake Forest area. Try the Basil Chicken and the Prik King Beef. And dont forget the rice. You will enjoy the food, the price and the ambiance of this restaurant which is located in an unassuming strip mall.
I only come here for the Khao soi
Love their flavors, their location and their curries.
Hands down, some of the best thai in town. A weekly retreat. Where else can you find an omelette over rice?! How can you do that?! Great staff and vibes as well! Get some Bhan today!
12/29/18.....Disco shrimp was super spicy when I asked for medium heat. Also there was no lettuce, mostly onions - not a real salad. Certainly not like pictures on Grub Hub. Grilled shrimp was tasty. Salad was drowning in dressing!
Ala carte eggplant/tofu was bland, no flavor. I asked for medium, got mild. Hardly any spice.
Ala carte basil/tofu, also bland predominately slices of onions, hardly any vegetables.
Disappointed with everything. Maybe the Saturday cook isn' the regular cook. If I hadn't ordered it to go, i would have definitely taken it back!
Good yellow curry!
Good Thai food in south county. Nothing outstanding in the area but this is the best. This place is good and has a large menu. Very nice friendly staff. Bonus free Thai iced tea with Yelp check in. I used to have a Thai girlfriend that would cook for me, so I guess you could call me a expert on Thai food so take my word on it.
Clean. Friendly service. Family oriented. Spicy delicious Food. Please try the "Crying Tiger" . It is a bit spicy but great.
Excellent, flavorful curry and the service was absolutely top notch. I will definitely be going back here again.
Waiters were nice, place was relatively clean except bathroom. Kao soi soup served without lime wedge which is critical.
Nice decor. And that's it. Customer service was decent. And most important, food was a disaster. The fried rice was like yesterday's rice, cold and smelled so bad. Angel wings was crispy, but it tasted like eating grass because it was fried too long. The only thing can be called okay was yellow curry. Thai tea was not flavorful as I expected... So disappointed because I trusted the reviews on Google when driving here 😢😢😢😢😢
Food was okay, had beef and chicken pad thai and the orange chicken.
Delicious and affordable
Our favorite Thai restaurant in Orange County.
Great menu options for vegans. Good- sized portions and very delicious. Friendly service. Definitely will go there again!
Great food and fun staff! Totally worth the wait.
Great thai food small restaurant but super busy during lunch with only 1 server and 1 helper with no empty tables in the restaurant.
