Best Thai food I've ever had. They feed me like a family member!

Great food!

Diner Review №6

Flavours were on point… my favorite dish here was the whole fried fish … very technical dish and balance of sweet sour flavours were some of the best I’ve had. Drunken noodles are also good. Pad Thai was a little dissapointing as noodles became mushy overcooked.

Diner Review №7

Diner Review №8

Dish is very little. Hard to get full but a rather high price.

Diner Review №9

This is a nice and calm place that serves Thai food. The staff are super cool and nice, food was also tasty and okay although a bit greasy. Since this was my first time experiencing Thai cuisine, I am not sure if the amount of oil was routine or not.

Diner Review №10

It wasn’t good at all. The calamari fries had an oily smell, and the pad see ew lacked flavor.

Diner Review №11

This is not Thai food. The entire experience was a let down. We had tried to order drunken noodles with chicken and shrimp and was told that they would not do any combination outside of their “menu”. How that’s outside of their menu, I have no idea. We ordered drunken noodles, silver noodles, and pad Thai. All of the food was either over cooked, over oiled, and had an off taste. This experience amongst atmosphere, choices, price, and overall food taste was a complete let down.

Diner Review №12

Great thai food, with some unique offerings not found in typical american-thai restaurants, like Khao Soi and crispy pork belly.
Watch out for their spice levels when asked, I got a 5/10 thinking it would be mild but it was HOT.

Diner Review №13

Diner Review №14

Diner Review №15

Absolutely the best Thai food I’ve ever had! We only ordered the drunken noodles to go, so I’ll definitely return later to get the full experience! Amazing flavors we will be back!

Diner Review №16

This is hands down the best Thai restaurant I’ve been to, especially in the San Diego area. I absolutely love their Pineapple Fried Rice – it’s incredibly fragrant, flavorful, and has a slight tingly spice that’s just perfect. The service is also great. Highly recommend!

Diner Review №17

Good noodles

Diner Review №18

Sweet little place. Love the curries here even though they are on the more expensive side. The drunken noodles were DELICIOUS but the Pad Thai was not very good, wouldn’t recommend.

Diner Review №19

The smell is much better than the flavor. We ordered multiple things and was let down on multiple levels. Ambiance was even lacking luster. The employees were fair. Food not good at all. Won't return.

Diner Review №20

I agree with Mr Hernandez in saying that this isn't real Thai food. We always eat at Eddie V's & decided to try this Thai place last night. The aroma pulled us inside. We ordered the calamari and drunken noodles. I'd wanted Pad Thai with a chicken and shrimp combination but the waitress said they wouldn't do it with chicken and shrimp as my request. Grade F for failing to accommodate the customers palate while trying to force feed your self made rule to govern my palate. At this early point I'd already made up my mind to eat elsewhere which was the incredible Sushi 🍣 location right down the street (Shiku). I wanted to at least try food from this supposed Thai restaurant and got it to go. We asked for an extra plum sauce and was told they couldn't give extra. Really? Was it because of my tan? Moving forward, the calamari was greasy and very rubbery. The flavor was off and seemed as if it was cooked in oil that chitterlings were cooked in. My friends from Georgia cook lots of chitterlings at their Asian restaurant and we sample what they like for us to try which is why I'm familiar with that hideous flavor. The drunken noodles were ordered at a number 4 spice level and that was pretty much the dominant flavor - hot pepper. The food is a couple of notches less than what you would find in a mall food court. The tastiest thing was the plum sauce which was fair. All in all, I'm happy we tried so we can know what the food tastes like and won't be fooled again when going into Eddie Vs or walking down the street in La Jolla again. A great and delicious spot is Shiku sushi which has a wide variety, excellent service and everything is flavorful. Your requests are accomodated. Going back for their unagi eel, spider roll, Lobster rolls today. The Thai experience was a complete fraud. F for failure but thank God for Shiku 😉

Diner Review №21

We visited this restaurant recently and were pleasantly surprised because of the number of possible options on the menu and the friendliness of the staff. The food was flavorful and we really enjoyed our overall experience . Will visit again !!

Diner Review №22

Best pad thai I ever ate! Hiigh quality thai cousine and very friendly staff!

Diner Review №23

Diner Review №24

Not real Thai food. They used cheap rice versus Jasmine rice, The fried rice had no wok flavor, and the tofu was old. The crispy pork bites were overcooked and dry. I would never come back or recommend this place to anyone!

Diner Review №25

Really enjoyed this spot for a quick bite. Ordered the curry fried rice. Portion sizes were generous. They have levels 1-10. I got a 4 and will say, it did have some kick. Overall, really enjoyed the meal and will return to try something else.

Diner Review №26

Delicious flavors and quick!

Diner Review №27

I give them a 5-star rating all around! They were both delightful and incredibly welcoming. My nails turned out perfectly, and the price was very reasonable. I highly recommend them and will definitely return.

Diner Review №28

Loved the ambience and hospitality. Food is equally good.

Diner Review №29

Diner Review №30

味道很不错,冬阴功汤有些偏甜,价格有稍贵。

Diner Review №31

Diner Review №32

Great food overall. They use real crab in their appetizer which is rare! The panaang curry could have had a bit more broccoli in it but it was still delicious. Their pad ped is excellent, & the drunken noodles are great too! Sometimes, their take-out is lacking in quantity but they cater to your request to fill the containers fully if asked via phone. Great job, Aroi!

Diner Review №33

Diner Review №34

My daughter and I were in La Jollla for 3 days and ate here 4 times!! That shows how great it was. The garden rolls were huge and delicious- we had those every time! We tried a few other vegetarian options including the Pad Thaj and all were fabulous. We got food to go 3 times and ate in once. Great service and great food! We got lunch and dinner.

Diner Review №35

Diner Review №36

I’ve been to many Thai restaurants but this one is hands down one of the best I’ve been too. The curry is amazing and rich, and the service is fantastic, very nice staff. Highly recommend!

Diner Review №37

Great place all around! Food and service are worth the visit.

Diner Review №38

Just had an unforgettable meal at Aroi! The flavors were spot-on, bursting with that authentic Thai zest. Their Pad Thai? Heavenly. And the service? Super friendly, making the whole dining experience just perfect. A must-visit for any Thai cuisine lover!

Diner Review №39

Great food, but the service was bad/nonexistent. It’s like they forget we were there after bringing our meals. They never refilled our water, never brought the drink I ordered, and I got up twice hoping to find someone to take care of those issues, but no one was around. Someone came out when I poked my head in the back, but by that point we were ready to leave. It’s unfortunate because the food was definitely tasty, but I can’t justify coming back with service this poor.

Diner Review №40

My go-to Thai spot in La Jolla. Can’t really go wrong with anything on the menu.. would recommend pineapple curry, crispy pork belly, and pad see ew with beef. And don’t forget about the roti for dessert ;)

Diner Review №41

Definitely not best Thai food and service is average. I ate soup at the restaurant. About 20 min later I had to go to the restroom. I basically flushed my money down the toilet. Soup is a fully cooked dish. It shouldn't upset stomach like that. Makes me question what quality ingredients the used and is it clean in the kitchen? I'm not going there again.

Diner Review №42

Delicious food and great service 😋

Diner Review №43

Diner Review №44

Diner Review №45

Ordered take-out. Two Tom Kha Soups with chicken and Papas Noodles. It was the first - and last - time we had food there. We specifically chose this restaurant because it offeres my favorite dish: Tom Kha Soup. Unfortunately it was the worst soup I have ever had. It tasted nothing like a traditional Tom Kha Soup. Way too much lemon and yoghurt ?! flavor. Super super diappointing.

Diner Review №46

Nothing to complain. Great food, great staff and a phantastic ambiente.

Diner Review №47

Diner Review №48

The best sticky mango rice !! Not too sweet perfect!

Diner Review №49

This is our go to Thai restaurant usually bringing the food home. This visit was not as good as previous ones. The food was not spicy enough although ordered 7s and the fresh spring rolls, usually great seemed mostly to contain iceberg lettuce and we stuck together and fell apart as separating. We’ll continue ordering here but wonder if something changed.

Diner Review №50

Diner Review №51

Pad Thai quality became much worse than before. The shrimps were not fresh and no lime or lemon was given or available. When I asked for limes, they gave me a lime juice instead. Also, it was overly sweet and not tasting like Pad Thai at all. Their curry tasted good though.

Also there were too many mosquitos at the restaurant because they kept the door open throughout the night.

Diner Review №52

Diner Review №53

Love garlic sauce

Diner Review №54

First time I visited San Diego (La Jolla area), I was looking for a place to eat with my husband and during the search I found Aroi. We're so glad we did! We've come here twice while in San Diego and both times we haven't had to wait for a table, we would choose where we wanted to sit. The service is great and the food is amazing! This is by far, the best Thai food we've had. Highly recommend getting some Thai donuts for dessert, they're delicious!

Diner Review №55

Diner Review №56

Diner Review №57

Decent presentation, however, I ordered a Red Curry vegetable , #7 on a heat scale of 1-10 , about right . Way too much tofu , approximately
85% tofu and very little vegetables , in a too thick sauce .
An order of Brown rice on the side. Undercooked and dry.
They agreed and immediately replaced it with a white rice.
Bottom line . After all the corrections and apologies and extra time waiting, the experience was ridiculous considering you are in upscale La Jolla California 2023 with other thai restaurants nearby that do it right.

Diner Review №58

This place is a gem! The food is the best and the service was great. Food was also fast, hot and they were on it with the refills or just checking in. Def must try!

Diner Review №59

Hands down the best Thai food I’ve ever had! I eat here every time I come to SD, which is quite often!

Diner Review №60

Diner Review №61

Best Thai in a while. Texture, flavor profile and service was on point!!

Diner Review №62

Diner Review №63

Diner Review №64

Food is nothing special, too sweet and not authentic. Service is just ok...

Diner Review №65

Nice place but I can’t say I like the food, it’s very sweet and heavy. I don’t think it’s authentic but rather Americanized .

Diner Review №66

Diner Review №67

My first time here and it certainly won't be my last. It was for lunch and it was delicious and a very good value! You can't go wrong!

Diner Review №68

Diner Review №69

Everything on the menu is delicious

Diner Review №70

It's so good!!!! But getting so expensive, so quickly. Spring rolls were $8. Then $9. Now $11. For 4 spring rolls!!!! All within literally 5 months!!!! That's insane. Why are you doing this? First they kept running out for what seems like a month straight, they just were literally not available. Now they bring them back and continuously increase the price. These 4 spring roll appetizers are getting up in price to match actual entree and meal prices. I go here often. Like way often. But I can't keep going here if they're just going to keep increasing prices like this. Update: just checked my past orders and confirmed the prices. Everything has increased just since Dec. Smh

Diner Review №71

Great flavors but really pricey for what it is. I spent $23 after tax and tip on one curry that only had 6-7 small pieces of pork in it; usually I have leftovers!

Diner Review №72

Delicious food and friendly staff!
Spicy only if you want (levels 1 to 10), while level 3 felt sufficiently authentic for my taste... ;-)
Pricing is reasonable too.
Highly recommended.

Diner Review №73

Outstanding food, wonderful service

Diner Review №74

Fried tofu pad thai was delicious!

Diner Review №75

Diner Review №76

Diner Review №77

Diner Review №78

I love the food here.

Diner Review №79

Delicious Thai food!

Diner Review №80

Diner Review №81

It was one of the best Thai food experiences I've had hands down. The food was incredibly flavorful, and complexities were spot on. Definitely recommend!!

Diner Review №82

Drunken noodles were ok, but not great. Pad see ew is better.

Diner Review №83

Diner Review №84

The Pad Se Ew with about 5 heat is awesome. Pad Ped is also excellent!

Diner Review №85

All the food was much better than expected. In particular, the crab fried rice is the best fried rice I've ever tasted in my life! And Thai donuts is crazy!!! The service is also great. This is a restaurant that seems to have many regulars :)

Diner Review №86

Delicious food, large portions and not too busy. Definitely saving this place for future visits.

Diner Review №87

Great! Loved the tom kha soup and papa's noodles - fantastic taste, reasonable price. Ribs were good but tasted like standard american ribs, so I'll opt for a different dish next time.

Diner Review №88

Diner Review №89

Food is great. But the service is painfully slow. They definitely prioritize making online orders before dine-in guests.

Diner Review №90

Great food!

Diner Review №91

Found this place after a couple other Thai spots were closed / too busy. Great experience! Fast and tasty, it feels like a cozy home experience.

Diner Review №92

Very busy lunch crowd and one server. Food came out fast though! Ordered chicken yellow curry, pineapple fried rice w/shrimp & stir fried eggplant w/pork. All very delicious & perfect 5 spice level! Absolutely returning.

Diner Review №93

Delicious food and friendly staff.

Diner Review №94

Very good 👍

Diner Review №95

Diner Review №96

The service was really bad & the food wasn’t that great either.

Diner Review №97

One of the best Chili OIL 🔥

Diner Review №98

Diner Review №99

The food is amazing and the staff are super friendly …very affordable and warm sitting! Way better than the fancy ones near the beach

Diner Review №100

Great AROI

Diner Review №101

I don’t even know how to express how good the food was here. It was delicious. EVERYTHING was. Highly recommend this place. Staff is kind and again….food was great. First time trying Thai food too.

Diner Review №102

Best in town!! Lived here for years and this is my favorite Thai spot 😋 eggplant stir fry is my new personal favorite - Followed by drunken noodles & Penang Curry. The above staples are delicious. Amazing team! Great local spot :)

Diner Review №103

Horrible food, extremely sweet, not authentic Thai food

Diner Review №104

Love this place. Great Thai food - maybe the best in the San Diego area. Highly recommend the Penang Curry & Drunken Noodles!

Diner Review №105

The kitchen cooks need lots of improvement real training for authentic Thai Food taste

Diner Review №106

מסעדה מעולה, השירות מצויין והמנות ענקיות!!

Diner Review №107

Diner Review №108

When they say authentic Thai food that’s exactly what you get. Many items are imported directly from Thailand to maintain authenticity.

We loved the food and unlike many dining experience there was nothing left to take home.

Diner Review №109

Diner Review №110

Diner Review №111

During my 5-day San Diego visit, this was my favorite dining experience. From the perfectly-piping-hot and delicious Pad See Ew to the attentive servers, I could not have been more impressed. The lovely decor and ambience set the scene for a comfortable and relaxed dinner. Thank you to this charming team for making me feel welcomed and cared for!

Diner Review №112

Very nice food

Diner Review №113

One of the best Thai restaurants I’ve visited. Great flavors and friendly service.

Diner Review №114

Probably the best Massaman Curry I ever had! Nice staff, delicious food.

Diner Review №115

Yummy Thai food!

Diner Review №116

Great takeout experience, but be careful with the spice level! I had the Pad Thai with beef and shrimp with a 5/10 on their spice scale and it was hotter than most spicy curries. Even if you like your food spicy like me, I wouldn't go much higher than that unless you need to exorcize some demons! The mango sticky rice was also very good and the service was fast and pleasant.

Diner Review №117

Based on a takeout order, this Thai restaurant serves a better than average version of popular dishes. The staff was polite and prompt when I picked up the food. The parking in front is a bit awkward but there’s plenty of parking at the adjacent Vons lot. Recommended.

Diner Review №118

INCREDIBLE!!! I definitely recommend for going out with the family or on a date. it's beautiful and the food is to die for.

Diner Review №119

Great thai food and friendly service. The pad see eew was seasoned well and the thai fried rice was delicious. On top of that the staff was nice. I would eat here again hands down.

Diner Review №120

Best Thai I've had on two coasts! The service is excellent, timely, and most of their dishes can be prepared gluten free. If you're Livin' LA Jolla Loca, don't miss this gem!

Diner Review №121

Loved it. Perfect papaya salad, super delicious curry rice, pad prik and delicious mango with sticky rice. Going back again soon. Really authentic, great job to the staff on service.

Diner Review №122

Delicious Pad Thai with Fried Tofu & Tom Kha Soup!

Diner Review №123

Diner Review №124

Excellent meal! The food was incredible, wonderful service, and great price! I got the Papa's noodles with fried tofu, and it was exceptional!

Diner Review №125

Diner Review №126

The texture is there, however , I wouldn’t call this authentic except for the curry dish which I don’t have in the picture. The fried rice tasted good! The reason for the three stars instead of higher because the pad thai just didn’t cut it as well as the spring rolls.
Be sure to get their curry dishes, I think that one is most authentic of all.
Service is very friendly. The place is clean.
We missed the turn to the little alley. If you’re having a hard time finding it just plug in Vons Girard Ave since it’s in the same complex.
Price is very reasonable for the area.

Diner Review №127

Delightful food and staff! My husband and I enjoyed lunch at Aroi. We so enjoyed the green papaya salad with fresh lime juice and fish sauce and shrimp drunken noodles. Try the Thai donuts - triangle gems - served along side with condensed milk as a dipping sauce. They were yummy! Our waiter, Mee, was very personable and kind. Our chef did a great job cooking our lunch, and we look forward to their new opening of "Thai Gulf" along La Jolla Shores.

Diner Review №128

I ordered the sticky flat rice noodles with beef, red peppers, onion and thai basil…(drunken noodles).I must say it was absolutely delicious!!! Coming back to try the curries this week. 😊

Diner Review №129

I did like the food although level 7 hotness seemed like 10. I can tolerate pretty spicy food and usually level 7/10 is good enough for me but last time when I ordered drunken noodles, it was extremely hot that I could feel it in though my god pipe. Also to mention, the place had a typical fishy smell which was not very pleasant.

Diner Review №130

Nice quiet place

Diner Review №131

AROI means delicious and it truly is.

Diner Review №132

Best Thai restaurant in the region if you want an authentic Thai taste. Very creative menu and very tasty. The interior is very sleek and cozy. Must try. Highly recommended.

Diner Review №133

The best thayfood at San Diego!!!
Everything is delicious 😋
Staff happy and proud to do the family business !!! 😃🍜🥡🥣👍 I recommend 100% 🙌

Diner Review №134

Food just so so. A bit over priced...

Diner Review №135

I was not impressed. I should have known something was wrong when the menu was a wrinkled, blurry, black and white photocopy of a photocopy with a handwritten section stapled on. Even the walls screamed cheap, someone thought it was a good idea to use home depot's cheapest faux wood laminate flooring for the walls.

I had one of the specials: crispy pork with basil. The pork were overly salty and chewy with only a hint of sauce. I asked for 6/10 spicy but I'm not convinced there was any added at all. The majority of the dish was just white rice disguised under an insultingly thin layer of chopped pork and green beans. Just all around disappointment on a plate with the audacity to cost $16.

The only redeeming quality and hence reason for a second star is the serving size of Thai tea was very generous.

Diner Review №136

Delicious authentic Thai restaurant with great service.

Diner Review №137

Diner Review №138

Amazing!

Diner Review №139

Diner Review №140

good food.

Diner Review №141

I wish I could give an opinion about their food but after a 30 minute wait I left.

Diner Review №142

Best crying tiger (beef waterfall) I've ever had! (And I eat Thai food everywhere.) Great service in a casual atmosphere.

Diner Review №143

Ordered Pineapple Fried Rice and Tom Yum Soup, very satisfied with my meal.
The pineapple fried rice achieved a great balance of sweet, sour, and umami. Nice, big chunks of fresh pineapple and whole cashews. The rice is beautifully done, full of flavor, and not over or under cooked. I can smell the nice wok hay with every bite. I choose pork as my protein and it's also very tender and marinated with flavor. I asked for no peas on the ticket and they noticed and didn't give me any peas, which is really great.
The Tom Yum Soup is packed with authentic Thai herbs. If you don't like strong Thai flavor, skip it; but if you are like me, you have to try it. It's also pretty sour and strong. Shrimp tastes pretty fresh. I ordered Spicy Level 6 and it was good for me, but pretty hot for the average people. Just one little side note, they used the wrong mushroom type for this soup.

Diner Review №144

Great value and great taste. Had the Drunken Noodles with extra chicken and I could hardly finish the whole plate

Diner Review №145

Very delicious and fresh. Relaxing ambiance, impeccable service. Best experience at a restaurant in last few months!

Diner Review №146

The best Thai food in town. Really authentic. Price correct. Strongly recommended

Diner Review №147

Great Thai food.

Diner Review №148

The food was really good. Very tasty and enjoyable. Customer service is also "on point".

Diner Review №149

Food was OK but not the best. Staff was very nice though. Just ordered pickup, didn't dine in.

Diner Review №150

Diner Review №151

The food was okay. The duck in carry was not fresh.

Diner Review №152

Food is delicious and service is incredibly kind. Many dishes can be made vegan. 100% recommended and will return.

Diner Review №153

Great Thai food

Diner Review №154

Diner Review №155

Best thai, I've had in San Diego, it's kinda under the radar after trying the places listed on best thai in San Diego

Diner Review №156

The drunken noodles are the best!

Diner Review №157

My family and I love this place. The Thai sausage fried rice is killer! Slaying your taste buds one bite at a time.

Diner Review №158

great food!

Diner Review №159

Diner Review №160

Diner Review №161

Diner Review №162

The pineapple fried rice was decent. The crab fried rice was burnt and the taste was nothing special. Yes it had crab in it, but the combination of rice, egg and other vegetables showed a lack of imagination. Not worth the price premium.

Diner Review №163

This is the best "authentic" thai with lots of flavor. When Aroi is closed, Spice and Rice Kitchen is also excellent on Girard!

Diner Review №164

This place is absolutely outstanding. Both service wise and quality of food. During the course of our meal, our glass was always full. The sweet and sour sauce is the best I’ve ever had. I’ve been looking for top notch sweet and sour all over San Diego for the past 6 years. I finally found it. The fact that this place has survived in La Jolla when 50% of the restaurants here fail should tell you all you need to know. I’ve never written a review for any place I’ve dined at, but this was so good I actually felt compelled to take the time to write them some props. Bravo

Diner Review №165

This is hands down my favorite Thai place in the area. They are very generous with their portion size and are consistent with their dishes! Highly recommend! Also, support small businesses!

Diner Review №166

Best Thai food I've ever had. Fried rice, pad Thai, and noodles.

The food here is wonderful. Everything is so flavorful and delicious! We've had a variety of dishes and loved every single one. Honestly I think they have the best peanut sauce for their spring rolls 😍 wish I lived closer to here so I could go back for more!!

Diner Review №176

outstanding service, food is incredible, we have been coming here for 3 years now and never been dissapointed. Pad thai is WOW!!! And all other dishes. Great prices, atmosphere, friendliness and cozy.

Diner Review №177

Such a cute family owned business! Fresh ingredients, flavorful, & clean! Having the larb with papas noodles was a great combination. Garlic flavors of the noodles and a punch of spicy citrus flavors from the larb! Their Thai tea was also really good. It had the perfect ratio of tea & milk. Can't wait to come back in town to try more dishes

Diner Review №178

When it comes to my favorite Thai places in San Diego, this one is high up on the list.

Diner Review №179

Diner Review №180

Pretty great thai food!!

Diner Review №181

Went there with a company of 4 on a Monday night and easily got seating. It is not very spacious but well-located right in front of Vons. The service was good and quick. The food felt fresh and tasty. We got pad Thai, fried rice, stirred fried veggies and chicken green curry (spice level 7). Everyone seemed to like the food. Spice for my test was the maximum I can comfortably eat, so not too much but pretty hot. Pad Thai was a big portion, so we had leftover. Overall good experience and comparable to other Thai places nearby. For beverages we had cocunut water and Thai teas. They were good.

Diner Review №182

Diner Review №183

Delicious. Clean, nice and extremely tasty. We got spring rolls, green curry, pineapple fried rice and pad Thai. The pad Thai is DANK. Super chill place with good service.

Diner Review №184

Small place in a strip mall serving what I've come to expect from a Thai place. There was good variety of Thai Staples from pho to spring rolls, to all kinds of noodles and rice with your choice of protein. I had the Thai fried rice with chicken which was delicious. I've asked for 6/10 in terms of spicy and at first thought I wouldn't be able to eat the whole thing it was so hot, so beware of that. Overall, I would come back again if you want a decent and affordable meal in a quiet setting.

Diner Review №188

I ordered the drunken noodles with steamed tofu and it was absolutely incredible. I hadn't even heard of steamed tofu at that point and now that's all I'll ever ask for. The spice was just right as well (I ordered a level 7 out of 10). The ambiance was nice and the waitress was very friendly. Highly recommend.
