I was visiting Escondido from San Diego because I needed a special part form the Toyota Dealership. I decided to come here because of the good reviews. I am not sure if those reviews were based by the local standards but when I came I was disappointed. First and foremost the menu options was overwhelming. I believe there is a correlation between the number of items on a menu and the restaurants success. Second the price was alittle too much for the food you got. I paid $18.99 for a rice combo plate and a bowl of broth was an additional $1.99. I wouldn’t pay more than $15.00 for rice combo with soup. I left hungry…

I am so sad. My coworkers and I ordered the drunken noodles for lunch because my coworkers and I ordered them last week and they were amazing! But this time they were not good, they did not taste the same, some parts were so cold, the cabbage tasted like chemicals. I was so disappointed, I was really looking forward to my lunch 😮‍💨

My absolute favorite place for good home cooked meals. Just wonderful, anything from the menu is delicious. We've been going here since they opened. Same friendly owner but their menu has expanded to be more fusion. My favorite fusion concept is the Tom Yum Phở, the best of Thai and Vietnamese comfort food, IMHO. They do use MSG in their broth, though, like most places do. My mom usually gets one of their Broken Rice dishes, protein varies by day but all are delicious

We visited today, 1/2/2025, and we're quite disappointed especially with the amount of great reviews. The pho soup I give a solid 4/5 because the broth and meat were good. We left upset with the veggie egg rolls. We weren’t asked if we wanted 3 or 6 and were automatically charged for 6….mind you we’ve never been here or else we would know they sell different quantities so it feels deceiving. 6 veggie egg rolls for 12.99. Most of the pho places we visit sell a quantity of 4 egg rolls per order for about 7.99, so that was our expectation. We received 6 lukewarm egg rolls and they seem to have been sitting since they opened. We aren’t the type of customers to complain so we paid our bill and we will be sticking to our go-to pho places instead.

We were a party of three and only one of us got the correct dish. We ordered Tom Kah, Tom Yum, and Yellow Curry and all of us received Tom Kah with chix, tofu, shrimp. Apparently the waiter did not understand at all what we ordered though acted as if he completely understood us. One dish we sent back and waited for the corrected order. The check came and there was no compensation for the messed up service. I asked for one dish compensation and it was applied. As for the food quality, it was mediocre. Shrimp/pork spring rolls were not very exciting. I've had much better Tom Kah soup. Not the best experience for a first time visit.

I am sorry. This place is trash!!! I am too nice because from my first time experience I did notice a funky smell. So I ordered a large Pho, and my bowl wasn’t to a boil like I’m used to. Came back several months later so that they redeem themselves and I got so sick to my stomach this time around that I left my bowl to head to the bathroom to try to THROW UP!!! The meat was raw and my bowl cold!!! I paid and I am NEVER coming back here again.

I went in one afternoon for takeout and ordered some spicy noodles, as I started to eat my food it was very noticeable that they add sugar to their meals. It was very sweet and couldn’t enjoy my food. It smelled like something Panda Express sells, very disappointing and don’t recommend anything noodle from here.

I'm always hesitant to order from a restaurant that has so many options of different cooking styles. We ordered a tofu banh mi it was just ok, no garnishes, no jalapeño or traditional pickled veggies. We ordered orange chicken, ok, hot and sour soup- not good. Tastes nothing like traditional hot and sour, not hot or sour. Probably won't order from here again.

I have been to way more generous Vietnamese restaurants here in CA. Pho was ok, ordinary at best. This place was good a few years ago, it is down spiraling as of now. Will not come back in a bit.

I haven’t been here in years, but I came back for lunch and the barbecue pork sandwich was pretty good😍. I just had a water for my drink and that’s all. I tried the pho one time. The only thing I didn’t like was there were two flies flying around on the windows so please get rid of those flies😟 because that is very big turn off for the customers other than that sandwich was really good. I’ll Be back someday soon. 🌴👍

Its really bizarre why this place is rated at the level it is. This is by far the worst Asian food i ever had anywhere here. To be fair, i did not eat the pho which maybe what they are known for. I tried two types of fried rice and a noodle dish and all tasted horrible. I will not be returning.

I ordered spring rolls with shrimp. It was 2 spring rolls. $11. Really? Over priced for no reason. The rice paper was thick and chewy. It was chewy because its been sitting there all day until I ordered it. There was only lettuce, flour noodles, and shrimp. Nothing else. It was missing multiple mints to add flavors. The dipping sauce was old. No peanuts, no hot sauce to go with the dipping sauce.

Service is typical Asian restaurant service. They don't care.

Great food. Easily one of the best chicken teriyaki plates I have ever eaten. The chicken was amazingly tender. The PHO was delicious- vegetables were crisp and the they gutted the shrimp. HIGHLY recommend this restaurant.

Delicious food in Escondido. I love the broth that they use for the Pho. On this visit I had a pork Banh Mi. It was a nice ratio between pork and vegetables. On a nice crusty baguette. I got a small side of broth that I dipped my sandwichin. My friends enjoyed their meal. One had Pad Thai the other one had the Pho

These owners need to go to Mira Mesa Blvd and visit a Real pho restaurant like Pho Cow Cali and learn that BBQ chicken rice plates are priced at $13-15 dollars, have Big chicken portions, and always come with a small bowl of broth on the side.

Amazing food staff is a delight

My lady was craving some Pho so we found ourselves here. We're rather picky about where we go since I have a limited palate and don't care for rice or soup (much to her chagrin). This place was perfect. I got beef Bahn Mi which was wonderfully seasoned, if a bit less spicy than what I am used to, as well as some crab rangoon. And she loved the Pho. The only complaint was that the boba smoothies were a little sweeter than we'd have liked. Ultimately 9/10 will be returning.

Great place to eat some Pho while waiting to get your tires replaced. Located in a shopping area that has some good front facing businesses on Broadway and Washington, but the closed up store as the anchor store in the middle will make you feel that eating here may be a mistake . . . and if you pass on this hidden gem, then you will be making a huge mistake.

I had. Large #1 Combo Pho which was just the way it should be made, and a Thai Ice Tea with Boba. Now the only drawback was that the mint, bean sprouts, peppers, and lemon wedge was a bit thin - could've used a bit more sprouts and at least another sprig of mint. And the Thai Ice Tea only came in one size and (as you can tell from the pix) that was a small. The Tea costs about $6 for that size, and even though it did have Boba, I mean $6 for a small?

Overall, I would give this a solid 4 out 5 stars due to the Pho being the highlight of this meal.

#update # Back to give it a try. Its just okay. Fried calamari not like it. To dry and hard. Different from japanese restaurant. Well every restaurant have they own style. Lemongrass Fish Fillet is good. Pho is average.

I’ve eaten here 3 times in the last week, the pho is that good! Can’t wait to try other dishes but about the pho, the broth is aromatic and rich (not too salty or sweet either like some other places that cheat), portions (noodles and meat) were solid for the house large, price was solid, the herbs were fresh and washed. What more can you ask for! Oh, the Vietnamese coffee comes out quick and is quite rich :).

Pho Saigon Express is my favorite pho spot in San Diego! Their pho is so good! The broth is so rich and flavorful. Their salt and pepper chicken wings and orange chicken is bomb AF and their Vietnamese coffee is to die for. Their staff is extremely friendly. Scilla and Leo are the best. I drive from Scripps Poway Pkwy because there is no better pho place in town. It beats all the spots in Mira Mesa and all the spots i’ve tried off Convoy. It’s a must try!!!

Amazing PHO

We've been here all the time. Ordered seafood noodles soup. The shrimp was old and moldy 🤮, we tell the lady and she just gave us the fresh one. How come you guys still give old food when actually you have fresh one? Not acceptable especially we're paying right, giving tip and still, the food that were paying almost got us sick. This is the 3rd time we had bad experience here not going to eat or take out there anymore.

Also the spicy sauce they made and put in a empty Sriracha bottle is amazing. It tastes good with a hint of garlic i believe but not sure… The staff was kind and friendly too.

First time here. We ordered Com Ga (R2), Pho Rare Steak (P18) and Pad Thai (C4) they brought out an old stale food! If I have a farm, my pig won't want to eat this food. Apparently, those's ratings more than 1 star have no ideas what the Vietnamese (Asian) authentic dishes are taste like. Stay away from this place, spend your hard working money somewhere else.

Reviews are misleading. The food is super bland, expensive for no reason. Two banh mi sandwiches and 2 Vietnamese coffee that was just ice and a splash of coffee for 30 dollars.

Bahn Mi, bland. not so great, ordered to go. No napkins or sauce to mask the bland sandwiches. The tofu was very greasy, and the ice coffee was all ice. $33 for 2 sandwiches and 2 coffees. Not worth it.

The special combo beef pho was delicious. The broth was perfect and didn't need anything added. Smelled so aromatic and homemade. Their sate chili oil is actually spicy so you don't need much for that kick. Service was fast and friendly.

For all those who love Pho Saigon's food, READ THIS. 8 years ago my boss and I went to lunch at Pho Saigon. He had Pho and found little baby cockroaches swimming in his pho. We brought it to the attention of our server, was reimbursed for the meal and never came back. Last week it was cold and I craved beef stew. Pho Saigon was the only beef stew on the menu so I gave them another try. Nothing has changed in 8 years! The kitchen is unsanitary!!!! I found a medium sized plastic baggie in my stew with unrecognizable contents. CONSUMERS BEWARE, THIS KITCHEN IS NOT CLEAN!
