Went to this place on a whim with a group of friends after going to the beach in Solana Beach nearby. Most of our group was vegetarian or vegan and wanted to try this place based on a recommendation from another friend.
The menu is extensive and has so many options, and is all vegetarian and vegan friendly. We started off with hot sake and fresh spring rolls which were both delightfully refreshing and delicious. It was a colder winter evening in Encinitas, and we were sitting outside, so the hot sake was welcomed for the evening.
From there, I was delighted to be able to order the duck pad Thai, which again is all vegetarian. It was absolutely delicious and I would for sure come back here again, and order the same thing, or maybe even branch out! The portions were excellent and I was able to take some leftovers home to have for lunch the next day, which is always an added bonus.
We all very much enjoyed our meals and would highly recommend Plumeria vegetarian in Encinitas to anybody that is interested in either vegetarian food or Thai food, or in general just enjoys good food. Thank you very much Plumeria, I will be back again in the future!!!
Wow!! Incredible food and fantastic service. We had the tuna flower cups, eggplant with mock duck, pumpkin curry with steamed tofu, and mango sticky rice. Absolutely delicious! My husband is not vegan or vegetarian but said this was the best Thai food he has ever had and we eat at Thai restaurants all the time. We will definitely be going back!
Great little vegetarian place in the heart of Encinitas. You're kind of dining on the street (blocked off of course) but you're next to Roxy's and other places so it's all good. Decent food - nothing OMG. Fried tofu was a bit chewy but it's hard to make good tofu. It's all about Encinitas here.
A cozy, delicious, fairly priced spot to eat in downtown Encinitas. I love all the vegetarian options, and there is no flavor sacrificed like there sometimes is in gluten-free or meat, free dishes. I’ve been a number of times and the service is always very professional and quick. my most recent time going, I arrived just before the start of halftime of a football game and was able to order, eat, and pay then return to the game just after kickoff. I cannot over hype their service.
It's the trifecta! Excellent food, ambiance, and service. And, it's all vegan! We love this place so much and wish we lived closer to it, we'd come all the time. By the way, while we were here they graciously gave food to a homeless person outside. Please visit this lovely family owned restaurant!
Quaint smallish woodsie feel restaurant located in the heart of downtown Encinitas. Great stop for vegetarians along Hwy 101. Stop there to eat delicious Thai food and Boba Thai tea then meander to crystal shops, tequila bar, 420 biz, ROXY for music or even the beach down the street. They tend to be on spicy side but certainly will listen to your requests. They seem like a family running the place with smiles.
My brother loves the fake duck. I enjoy the fried tofu as the protein.
Very friendly staff!
Really good food and a cute patio!
This place is a must! I got the fresh spring rolls with a glass of plum wine. Devine!

Great place
Good Food
Great service
It's ok.

Amazing option for Thai, Vegan and spicy food!

Great food. Excellent service. The vegan duck was amazing! Would go back just for that.
Wonderful weekend lunch. Servers were very friendly and knowledgeable. Enjoyed talking with them. The food was delicious and the serving size was huge. A gem that we stumbled upon and would return to.
The food is really good
Very pleasantly surprised. Wow. Food was amazing and very very flavorful

The crispy tofu and crispy rolls - so delicious - I should try other things but I love these so much
Delicious vegan thai food. Nice and spicy authentic taste just the way I like it. Chrispy vegan chicken is bomb. Knob Kuhn kha.
Ten star service. The entire staff was SO kind. Food was amazing. Hands down coming back here.
Our favorite Thai spot in the city. Fully vegan, but this is also a staple for non-vegans. The red curry, spicy basil friend rice, satay chicken, pad see ew are all delicious. I prefer the mock duck over the mock chicken personally, but you also can’t go wrong with tofu
Plumeria is amazing! We had the tangerine chicken, old school pad Thai, and pancera curry. The food was delicious and the atmosphere is very nice. The Thai iced tea with coconut milk is a must!
This used to be a great place to get vegan food at but I just spent $30 per person to get small portions of noodles that come in the shape of a brick and taste like it too. I ended up having a peanut butter jelly sandwich for dinner instead.

My brother loves the fake duck. I enjoy the fried tofu as the protein.
Had a bad taste left in my mouth after eating here for the first time, and it wasn’t from the food.
**TLDR: waiter will lie to you about what level of spicy they gave you and then tell you at the end. Very odd behavior. Wouldn’t eat there again.
My husband and I were on vacation and for our last day decided to go check out this restaurant for a late lunch.
Everything seemed pretty normal except for every interaction we had where the male waiter asked about anything spicy (so when we were asked if we wanted hot sauce, or the spice level of my dish..etc).
My husband has Gerd(really bad heartburn condition) so he can’t do anything spicy.
I on the other hand prefer my food a bit spicy. I don’t shy away from it that’s for sure.
When asked the spice level I wanted my dish I responded and asked how they do it (like a 1-5 level or mild, med, hot?) so I could accurately convey what I want. He didn’t really answer and said “medium”? And I said “yep! Middle of the road is good.”
We get our food and immediately I tell my husband to try mine and it shouldn’t bother him because it’s really not that spicy and proceeded to mention it a couple of times throughout eating.
Waiter comes over and asks me how the spice level is.. I’m not one to really care enough about something like this so I tell him “it’s good” (because the food was actually good and did have some heat to it... just not what I would consider a medium level of spice.)
At the end of our meal while he is getting ready to take our plates away he leans over and awkwardly smiles and says “oh I only made that a spicy level 1. Btw Haha” I’m a bit stunned by this interaction and reply “oh 😅, well it was really good.)
Because what else do you say to that? What was the point of him doing that? I’m not sure. It was a very bizarre thing to do imo. If a customer asks for something and you try to trick them because you think they are lying about what they want.. is that normal?
If we were locals to the area that interaction was enough that I’d never eat there again. I’ve never had such a weird interaction before or had a waiter do that before.
This place was disappointing from the start. I ordered a ginger tofu stir fry. When I asked for it spicy the woman straight up told me that she won’t accept returns because I won’t be able to handle it. Which felt extremely rude and racist and just like what? You don’t stand by your food? Then the food came out literally right away, so not cooked to order. You get 90% zucchini and maybe 3 pieces of tofu in the whole dish. The flavors were boring and it wasn’t even that spicy. The place wasn’t cheap either, especially for lunchtime. Overall I hated this experience, just another extractive restaurant trying to cater to the beach hippies that live in Encinitas, without providing any real value.
The food was delicious.
My favorite Thai food restaurant in all of San Diego if not the world.
The hostess was very friendly, the pumpkin curry hit, the samosas were yummy, and the soup was delicious. I would definitely come back :)
This place is amazing! Their food is delicious all vegan! they have great drinks alcohol or non-alcohol and all the people that work there are so wonderful in everything that they do their personality they're serving their customer service attention to detail everything love love this place recommend it 110%. Was there tonight been there about 3 or 4 times
Excellent Thai food with great service.
Simply excellent. Great atmosphere and service. All the food I’ve had here is delicious. And the prices aren’t bad at all given that they are right on the 101. Try the Ka pow noodles with the vegan chicken! It’s excellent.
Ordered for take out for my family tonight as a treat for my daughter who is vegetarian. Food was worse than a regular Thai place unfortunately with or without the meat. Pad se ew was all glued together/gummy & flavorless. Normally my kids favorite at Thai places & they wouldn’t eat it. Tangerine chicken was decent. Samosas also pretty flavorless. Massaman curry had good flavor, wasn’t spicy & the brown rice surprisingly unique & good. Due to the prices will not re-order
My husband and I are vegetarian and we were very happy to discover this place! Delicious food and reasonably priced!
Excellent yellow curry & mock chicken dishes
Good food portions, quick service, pet friendly outdoor seating available
Plum is a great restaurant. They maintain the quality every time we order either take out or dine in. Staff’s are very friendly and we love eating over there!
This is hands down my favorite restaurant in north county San Diego. I absolutely love it. My favorite thing to get is the green curry with mock duck.
Drinks - fantastic
Dessert - fantastic
Food - extra fantastic
Atmosphere - beautiful and fun
Staff - amazing! They are always happy and friendly.
I definitely recommend Plumeria.
What isn't great. Its that good love this place.
Food is sooooooo delicious. Honestly can't really go wrong with anything on the menu. Even if you're not vegan/vegetarian you will absolutely love this place.
I had two dinners in the past week, a crispy tangerine chicken dish and pad see eu with duck (both are faux meat, vegan), both around $18. They were delicious and I took home leftovers for another full meal the next day. I also had the flower cups appetizer that comes with a tasty sauce — also excellent though I would have preferred them warmer. My only disappointment is that most of the desserts are not vegan; it would not be hard for Plumeria to find a source for vegan cakes. Also, I felt the drinks were overpriced, so I settled for water.
Great vegetarian- plant based Thai food!
Great vegetarian food
They had a lovely Christmas decoration. They were open on Christmas Eve and 25th Dec as well!!! Excellent food taste at Encinitas compared to the one in University Heights. We are a regular at the other branch. At first, we were extremely happy to know there is another one in Encinitas. But, we were not expecting the food to be unbearably spicy here (we ordered a Spicy Basil and a Cashewnut Entree with white rice (with a level 2 spiciness out of 5). However, we were able to manage the spice level they served. There is no way the kitchen would have taken it back. Maybe there was a misscommunication in the kitchen. It is in an excellent location at a walkable distance (probably 3 blocks from the beach). The other location restaurant space is more. Service is better at University Heights Plumeria, this one is comparitively newer, maybe it'll get better soon.
Love this restaurant so, so much that I am going there for dinner right after spending a month traveling Thailand. So fragrant and beautifully prepared. Understated elegance! No one has their brown rice fresh spring rolls beat! Anywhere. Could not be better, only different. Super grateful they are in Encinitas.
Used to like this restaurant but this time it was very disappointing. No flavor, mock duck which I had never ordered before was way too dry and tasteless and so was everything else, unfortunately. Should have stayed home and cooked my own dinner which would have been more flavorful. Will not return.
Great food, friendly service. Love the curry dishes.
Absolutely awesome Thai place in Encinitas. It's vegetarian, but don't let that deter you if you are a fellow meat eater. Everything tastes amazing!
Server was insulting and food was bad. Highly overrated.
Dude with bleached spiky hair was very rude and insulting from the start. He made rude unnecessary comments on my race and didn’t at all seem to be joking. Very unprofessional and not cool.
I was also confused because the people next to us got there at least 5 minutes later but got service faster, better, and got their food and drinks before us.
I’ve been working in restaurants for ever, you don’t talk to people like that.
Used to love the other location, he cost you our business.
Great food and atmosphere
Great vegan food
Vegetarian Thai food with lovely touches, like rice formed into a heart. I had the pumpkin curry and would have it again in a heartbeat. Many gluten free options on the menu.
Little pricy but food and service were both excellent!
Great food
Try sumthing new and yummy!
PLUMERIA is my favorite restaurant in all of San Diego! Order the Pumpkin Curry, Cashew Dish, TofunSpring Roll or Satay Chicken and you will not be disappointed! I've been bringing non vegans here for years and they appreciate the amazingness as well!
By far one of the best vegan restaurants in SoCal, and also one of the best Thai overall.
I'd been to the one in SD - this was our first time at the Encinitas location and it was great, too!
The dish I ordered was a simple rice dish but it was very full of flavor and a generous serving of vegetables.
Note that their operating hours are a bit confusing and the first day we came by, they were closed. Their website says 12-9 but they close midafternoon. (Not complaining that they close, totally their choice, just think it should be marked clearly on their website.) Check before you go.....
Really great spot, amazing Thai flavor and good milk tea, was not a fan of the boba but thats ok!
Always good all around.
Excellent and authentic Thai food
For casual dining it's great. Had the spicy noodles. It was delicious but watch out for spice.
This place is an amazing place to eat first of all I love that it is a vegetarian place. And it's right in the heart of Escondido such a great location. We really enjoyed the food. It was so delicious well made and in a very timely manner. The staff was very courteous and helped us understand our options and even gave us extra time to understand how hot we wanted our food as we like our stuff extra extra spicy. I highly recommend you go here and try this place out you will not regret it yummy yummy
I've always had an awesome experience here. Not only is the food great, but everyone is incredibly nice. If you're vegetarian or vegan it's a life saver, I couldn't recommend it more!
Update: Still love it.
Excellent vegetarian cuisine, all of the staff were helpful and delightful, and the restaurant is lovely!
My favorite Thai restaurant. True, fake duck, chicken, etc. is not the same as the real thing. But the Thai dishes are very, very tasty. Pad Thai Duck, sweet/sour soup, and more. This was the 3rd time my wife and I visited this restaurant, the first time was with several couples so there was a variety of food and everyone was satisfied.
I love, love, ❤️ this place. The people are so amazing, the food is spectacular and I must have the vegan panag curry with Vegan Duck every week. The basil fried rice and the crispy spring rolls are top shelf. The surprising find is the vegan coconut ice cream. Needless to say they check all the boxes here.
Very nice and clean vegan food, it was full of flavor, the staff was very friendly
One of the best panang curries and somtom salad I’ve ever had! And I eat a LOT of Thai food. So so good.
Great vegetarian food
Delicious Thai food for vegetarians and there some vegan options as well . I enjoyed my red curry with brown rice and lychee Thai Ice Tea. Food was fresh and tasty all the ingredients are organic and non GMO 🍱🍲🍱🍲🍱
Fantastic Vegetarian/Vegan Thai Restaurant
The Food :
Amazing . One of the best I have tasted in recent past.
The Spicy Noodle with Tofu and veggies +
Pumpkin curry both were great
The Pumpkin Curry comes with rice
Overall nice experience . The ambience is good not great inside but the ambience around the place was good .
The Service is average,
They add an auto gratuity of 20%.
It’s a bit expensive I would say.
Great tasting vegetarian food I've tasted. Its a must visit!!
Very good vegetarian Thai cuisine. Mock duck was very duck tasting. Service friendly and quick.
Suberb customer service and food
Loved the house fried rice & drunken noodles. Husband ordered the vegan fried rice with the 3 beans which was also nice. The server was friendly and took our request for a less oily version of the house fried rice in to account. We also tried the fresh rolls which also were pretty tasty. The portion sizes were big enough to last as leftovers for another meal.
Poor quality of food. Rice was way to spicy. Told the supervisor I didn't like it and he said it's not spicy. He didn't apologize nor gave me a recommendation. I didn't eat the rice dish left it all. He simply charged it to my bill and gave me free rolls. The best thing about this place is their Thai ice tea.
Amazing food and service.
Spice levels are customized to taste too.
Best Thai food I've ever had and it's all vegetarian.
Quick, friendly and easy service, we never feel rushed and always have. Top notch meal
Plumeria is restaurant which we always prefer to go. Today first time senior person was our servering person who was grumpy from starting and when I asked about food and told it’s for kid he didn’t even answered it correctly. When I ordered spicy noodles he didn’t even suggested how much spicy level is good for kid instead when food came and I told it’s too spicy for kid, his reply was arrogant answer you asked it and I gave it. He didn’t even offered we can correct it for kid if needed. Very arrogant behavior we experienced today. I had been to many Thai restaurants. My kid love spicy noodles. Medium or low restaurant suggest which will be suitable for kid. And in many restaurant, medium level spicy will eatable here it was impossible for even for adults to eat.
Best vegan Thai in all of San Diego. Their Tom Kah is so freaking amazing! And their fresh spring rolls are my favorite. The sweet lime sauce and the warm peanut sauce to delish.
Amazing vegetarian Thai food! I had the 'chicken' skewers, tangerine chicken, and pumpkin curry. The rice was perfectly cooked, and the curry was fragrant (I enjoy spice; I asked for an 8, but could have done a 9 or 9.5). The food is largely organic and non-gmo, and the tofu they use is local. I really enjoyed the veggie chicken, which has a fried 'real fried chicken quality'. I'm excited to return and try more things on the menu.
Nice Vegan options. Only challenge is to park you car on peak days like Saturdays and Sundays.
The most fragrant coconut soup that I had in a while. Great food 🧡🧡🧡
Best vegan in Encinitas in my opinion.
You’ve got to try the sticky rice. 🤤
Food is delicious. Their spice level 2 is quite spicy. Try the appetizer sampler.
We've been going to the north park location for quite some time. Thought we'd try this location out. Service is good, food taste just as good but...their portions were so small that even my kids, who don't eat much kept wanting to eat more bc the portions sizes were awfully small. And for their increased prices? Thats way more money for way less food.. definitely not worth it. Won't be coming back.
Excellent cooking quality. Don't miss the house fried rice.
The best Thai place to go specially for vegetarians. The flavor of everything is so unique and yummy. The freshness of the ingredients they use was clearly visible. We loved eating there so much that we went there again the next day while we were in San Diego. They have a branch in Downtown San Diego as well. But Encinitas was closer to us as we visited legoland.
Some of the best vegetarian Thai food I’ve had in a long time! We were visiting Legoland and went here which is the same as the one in San Diego. The SD one has 1.5K reviews and this one has fewer but the food and service is well worth 2K 5 stars.
We tried the fried tofu and baby jackfruit in the protein and liked them both. Green curry was very flavorful. Also tried the spicy noodles, garlic pepper and cashew stir fries. We will be back soon!
I ordered from plum for the first time yesterday. The food was still hot when I received it and the flavors were absolutely delicious. I ordered the crispy rolls and the green curry with vegetables. Unfortunately the vegetables tasted terrible. They tasted old and musty. That ruined the dish for me unfortunately. Based on that, not sure I would come back.
Their clear soup is excellent. Love this place for their good Thai food. Good place for vegetarians.
Excellent vegetarian Thai. We go every two weeks. Best Thai in San Diego that I've had. Don't miss the coconut soup. It's my favorite!
Good food, huge amount of curry, very popular place. Not a place to go if you want quiet conversation, given that it is so very popular.
The appetizer sampler is REALLY good, so was the orange "chicken", yellow cury, and even drunken noodles! Amazing Thai food!
Highly overrated. Overly sweet sauces drenching lifeless vegetables. It’s a lot of flavor and not a lot of soul. For the same price you get much better ingredient quality at Goodonya, Nectarine etc.
Good vegetarian place
Probably my favorite restaurant in the San Diego area — everything is good!!
I can’t say enough good things about this place. This restaurant serves hands down the best Thai food in California; the freshness, quality and sophistication of the ingredients they use is apparent. The portions they serve are extremely healthy, and are great for sharing. Not only are they extremely allergen friendly, but the staff takes their time to explain the different alterations to the dishes. The staff’s attention to detail, their amazing conversation, and their excellent service, transforms a simple meal into an experience. Truly an Encinitas gem.
Amazing food. First time ever that we have tried Thai food with mock meat and we really had enjoyed the food, and good vibes inside. We will definitely return back to this restaurant again.
Good food, great option for people with dietary restrictions since they have vegetarian and gluten free. My veggie friends love this place for the faux meat, they say it's the best fake chicken (I eat meat, tried it and it's alright... Next time I'll try the tofu or just extra veggies). I had the pumpkin curry which says it's made medium spicy, the waiter said is white girl spicy... And he was right, just enough spice for me! Haha 😂 btw, staff was amazing
Appetizer plate & tea were favorites! Sweet and super staff!
So Good! Hands down best Thai food for miles. So.hard to believe it is Vegetarian and Vegan friendly. Beware the Spice factor is HOTTER than any Thai you have ever tasted... Iove it hot and level 6 was almost too hot for me. Still I ate every last bite of the Savory Ginger Dish I ordered. Their Mock Duck is a treat. I highly recommend.
Oh yum. This place is divine! Try the crispy duck but get it on the side so it stays crispy. Spring rolls, curries yum
Favorite restaurant in town. You don’t have to be a vegetarian to enjoy this delicious spot. Best Thai food I have ever had
Had the Appetizer Sampler and the Cashew Nut with the Vegetarian Chicken (Spicy 2). One of the best Thai dishes I have had in a long time!
Great good, great service.
I had an excellent lunch here last week.I ordered the cashew nut w vegetarian chicken, zucchini, carrots, celery, bell pepper etc.the base sauce they used is almost similar to the regular Thai food I eat in Thai Town, Los Angeles except for the real taste of chicken.Prices are about 10 to 15% higher than other Thai restaurants.Service is excellent and I like the interior design.
We wanted Thai and this place delivered. The food was very good and the service to match!! Highly recommend this restaurant!!
I find this quaint Thai restaurant to be a great alternative for those who like a nice vegetarian meal. The "chicken" tastes just like chicken 😁. Flavors are authentic and prices quite reasonable
Great vegan Thai food in Encinitas!
Nothing less than 5 stars for this great eatery. The staff are great, food wonderful, and the hot sake is just what you need too
Delicious but pricey
We ordered fresh spring rolls, the Tom Yum soup, and Panang curry. Everything was super tasty, the staff was friendly, and the food was ready quickly. Highly recommend if you are in the Encinitas area.
Great ambiance and location. The food was good but not amazing. It’s nothing bad just didn’t really have that wow factor! The staff was really friendly and gave great service!
One of my go-to places. The pumpkin curry is out of this world and dairy free.
Delicious dishes. The Papaya salad was my favorite! We tried the Rama, the Fried rice, green curry, noodles with chicken, Tom kha soup and the Thai tea. Every dish was prepared with care and tasted very good. Highly recommend. They took care of all our allergies from Gluten to Soy!
Excellent service and great vegetarian food!
Food is good, nothing exceptional, but it’s all vegetarian.
Good veg Thai food. Tried Red curry, spicy noodle
I love Thai food. The zen soup was what I loved most. Light and 🔥. Coconut milk based.
