At Birdseye we serve family-style Thai, Lao and Vietnamese dishes. We're conscious of the fact that the food we eat is a major contributor to our overall health and happiness hence we use grass-fed beef and pasture-raised chickens raised without antibiotics or growth hormones. We use organic eggs and non-GMO organic tofu. We also use grass-fed beef bones and whole organic chickens for our soup stocks and all our curries are prepared fresh daily. We feature a thoughtfully curated wine list and an extensive craft beer list. We are a locally-owned family-run restaurant, come visit us.
Birdseye is predictably unpredictable… the food generally tastes great but you order will be wrong every time. It’s like a mystery but when you have food allergies it’s probably not worth the risk… my family love this place so we eat there often and rarely if ever eat what we ordered how we order it!
Too bad too the restaurant has potential to be truly great but the disconnect is the service! In closing todays experience was a burnt bbq skewer broken of in my drunken noodles and we got shorted on rice every damn time we eat there and today was no different, we end up having to make our own rice because no one wants to go back to complain! Probably the last time we will eat here at my insistence! I’m just done!
Food was really good! We ordered the salmon with broccoli, marinated olives and a delicious salad. The fish was seasoned so well and it tasted very fresh! Salad was very crisp and had a good flavor. We had a beautiful view of the ocean while we were eating our meal! Our server was very nice and was able to assist with our food sensitivity to dairy. So, the chef was able to delete butter and used oil instead to prepare our meal. They were very accommodating; which we appreciated very much!
I ordered food for 3 for take out for over $75. 2 of the 3 dishes were fine, but nothing to write home about. The third dish, the container was only 1/4 of the way filled. My friend was left hungry and ended up eating off of the other meals. The next day, we were walking in the area and went into the restaurant to speak with someone about the mistake. My friend was told by the maanger/owner(?) that if she wanted more food then she should order a different meal that has more vegetables and the staff will be weighing out their protein from now on so portions should be expected to be small. I noted that this was a mistake, as he meal was significantly less than the other similar dishes we ordered and it was apparent that this was not done intentionally. The manager argued with me and told me that in Thailand, they do not add so many vegetables or protein to their dishes. She said that she would refund me this time, however, she never did. It is now 4 days later and I have still not received a refund.
I don't typically write negative reviews, however, my friend and I felt incredibly disrespected by the manager when we spoke with her. The rest of the staff were lovely.
This is gonna be such a mixed review. I was so excited to come here with my family when I was home for the weekend after a recommendation from a family friend. The appetizers were fine in taste but both my cousins kids sticky rice and my fresh roll had long hairs in them. We sent them back and our waiter brought another, which I couldn’t bring myself to eat. He never apologized, just commented that it was “weird” because everyone in the kitchen “tied their hair back.” I’m sorry? Why aren’t they wearing hair nets? He took the fresh roll off the bill but didn’t do anything else. Would absolutely never come back.
We were the second table to be seated after opening. We waited 15 minutes for our drinks and my partner didn’t get his meal until we had to wave down our server to ask if it was still coming or not. Apparently there was a mix up in the kitchen meanwhile the rest of the table had finished our meals and drinks. No one checked on us, refilled our waters or apologized for the inconvenience. I asked for our bill and left very unsatisfied and disappointed because this was one of our favorite places to eat. Definitely won’t be back after that service.

I have to say………..having a restaurant on PCH is for the brave. Food critics strolling all over the place!!! Being a Google Local Guide, we battle with Yelpers and Tubers for credit!! I give Birdseye 💯percent posi+ive vibes for their tasty and well prepared Tom Yum and Panang!!!! Great job guys!!!!!!!!! 🙏🏽🤳🎬
It was definitely a family restaurant. The food was fabulous. Service great
The best Thai food in North County.

Terrible service. Sat for over 30 mins before server came to take order. Another 20 mins after that we were out of water and no drinks. We got up to leave. Found server to tell him and the only thing he said was “what table were you at?”
Sam was our server and let me say her banter, kindness and promptness will keep me coming back. Her service is what truly makes Birdseye stand out as a regular spot for me and my family.
We were the second table to be seated after opening. We waited 15 minutes for our drinks and my partner didn’t get his meal until we had to wave down our server to ask if it was still coming or not. This place is so good!
The most AMAZING FOOD EVER. The service is terrible. The last 5 times I have gone, it has taken over an hour for food to come out.
Best thai food around, hands down! Maybe a few too many tables packed in there, but there is a wait usually so I get it. Can't beat the quality and flavors though
Best restaurant in North County ….
Curry is like a gravy, green curry is brown and no Thai chilies are used in making curry, you can get chili paste or flakes on the side.
Very disappointing. This place continues to go downhill. It’s so inconsistent and their portions have decreased and their prices have gone up. They need to make some serious changes or they will continue to lose business.
Smallest Thai portions you've ever seen. The entree is served in a soup bowl only 3/4 filled up for $20 lol. It's nearly flavorless, the curry dish basically tastes like plain coconut milk. Barely any meat, I mean maybe one or two bites. Service is extremely slow to top it off, and pricing is double anywhere else considering you get less than half of what all other Thai places serve. I ate two entrees and left hungry, and I'm a pretty thin in shape person, that's absurd. I've tried to come several times over the years thinking maybe it was an off night, but every time I come I leave drastically unsatisfied. Bangkok Bay & Similan blows the doors of this place, are less expensive and double the portion size. Honestly, the curry rice dish at Seaside marketplace tastes better than this . Big time pass, save your money! I'm actually going to get dessert somewhere else to try to go home satisfied lol.
Disorganized. Set my online order for pickup at 7:30 but they clearly cooked it right away and then let it sit on the counter. Also lied when I asked about it. I like the food here a lot but their admin needs to be better.
This is our go to Thai spot. Their kabocha squash curry is heavenly.
Good spot in Encinitas for Asian food!! They have Thai and Vietnamese food, and probably a variety of other foods as well

The restaurant was incredibly under staffed resulting in long wait times for everything. The women's bathroom is horrific. The vinyl flooring is seaping water with a terrible smell in each stall. Unsanitary. Terrible experience when you are dining. Needs to be addressed ASAP. Food is very good but these issues will keep us from returning. No sense of urgency from owner to address them.

Amazing dinner at Birdseye Kitchen. We especially loved the Panang Curry, Summer rolls, Red Curry & the Pad Thai. So flavorful! Highly recommend.
Never again. We ordered takeout via Toast Local, and ordered some extras such as extra curry sauce and vegetables. Dinner for two including the Calamari appetizer, red curry salmon and green curry duck was well over $100! Thai food for two?? After picking it up, there is NO WAY there was any extra curry sauce or veggies for either main course. We both ordered a 5 out of 10 spice level, and honestly neither dish had any heat level at all. Also, the takeout containers were just the flimsy recycled paper containers, which by the time you get home are leaking. Not what I'd expect for spending this much money! Had I opened the containers on-site, I would have complained, but I was double parked on Coast Hwy since there's little to no parking. Thus, didn't notice anything till I got home. > $100 for bland curry, leaking container, and no extras as ordered.
In contrast, the next night I ordered Thai from Koon Thai in Kearny Mesa. Amazing red curry salmon, nice tight & leak-proof containers, plenty of sauce, nice little spice kick, and with appetizer and tip was $28.
Food and service address great. Takeout is too slow on weekends because they are full with restaurant diners. Obviously, the large crowds tell the whole story. Less crowded if you go super early.
** UPDATE: they changed it back and can be made vegan now 🤩🥳 THANK YOU!
Such a bummer that none of their curries can be made Vegan anymore and all have fish/oyster sauce now. Used to be so tasty without!! Not sure why they would change it. My guess is they are using cheaper ingredients and premade curry paste. Unfortunately I won’t be coming nearly as often with this being the case.
Consistently good food and service. One of our favorite for Thai and Lao food.
We enjoyed lunch today. The attention to detail and the freshness and preparation was excellent. We had the garlic chicken and green curry with vegetables. We will return!
I appreciated the fact that there were gluten-free and dairy-free options however the menu was a traditional Thai food menu so it really didn't stand out
Lively place on a Fri evening. Indoor and outdoor seating.
Quick service. Our food was a tad bit oversalted. Otherwise a great place for an evening meal.
The food is really good, but the portions have gotten smaller, and the service is so painstakingly terrible, that I just can’t dine in or even trust takeout anymore. They are so horribly understaffed every time I visit that I spend at least 30 minutes waiting to have my order taken, and another 20 minutes just waiting for drinks. They are so all over the place and frazzled all the time, which is fair given how busy they get, but at some point needs to be figured out…
Food was really good! We ordered the salmon with broccoli, marinated olives and a delicious salad. The fish was seasoned so well and it tasted very fresh! Salad was very crisp and had a good flavor. One of the world’s best Pho is here. They also source the best ingredients that can be found in Southern California

Elena thanks the soup is lovely as are the people. Thank you Birdseye kitchen
Delicious food and friendly staff.
Love the Drunken Noodles. Had a taste of the fried rice which was amazing too.
Oh my gosh was Birdseye an incredible Asian fusion experience!!! My family and I received the best service and were greeted right away. The food was some of the best Thai food I have ever had and the pineapple fried rice with duck was so flavorful. The noodles were great as well and would recommend to anyone to get them. I also really liked their cocktails and beer selection as they were diverse and offered a range of local breweries on tap. Overall great experience!!!
This is exceptional thai food. One of the best.👌

First time visiting. They served a table of 8 smoothly, food was great and server made the night fun and lively. Will visit more often!
Loved my food! Probably won't be returning on a Saturday night, but might try a less busy time to see if the service is different.
Best Thai food in north county but had a disappointing takeout experience with them recently that will cause me to search elsewhere for Thai takeout.
I arrived early. They told me the food would be ready based on the time on my receipt. Fair enough.
The receipt time came. Twenty minutes passed. I set for a while with the other unfortunate takeout victims at the bar waiting for an update. No effort was made by the staff to find out an ETA (or provide a basic level of customer service) to any of us until I finally asked a member of the wait staff for an update at which point the food came out promptly.
My impression is that since the dining room doubled in size they are understaffed and the kitchen can’t keep up with the combined demand of on-premise and off-premise orders.
Now, they could tweak their “estimated ready time” in Toast but that would, of course, result in less order volume—and after tonight, I think I can confidently say that that’s more important to them than customer satisfaction.
I hope the management sees this and makes some change.
This was a really good place to eat. We came here on a nice sunny day and sat out on the patio so we could enjoy the fresh air. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We received our food very quick and the it was really good. They have a big seating area inside with a separate bar area and the atmosphere was nice and relaxing. Super happy we stopped here so we can have yet another place to get one our favorite meals.
Good food, awful service.
Usually great…. Ordered takeout today. They forgot 1/3 of the items. One of the entries looked like it was the scraps from food left behind at one of the dine-in customers. They should be truly embarrassed.
Parking is tough to find. I only had one dish - the wok noodles with chicken. Noodles overdone and chicken thin and dry. The flavors were good but with leftovers, when reheated, the rice noodles became even more mushy. Disappointed. Service is great and I might try something else next time.
Had the pho. Kitchen was understaffed according to the waitress. I’ve had food illness systems all night and the day after. It was a definitely the pho. I don’t blame the friendly staff just maybe due to the understaff and how busy it was the food quality wasn’t there. I won’t be back because of this.
If you can eat gluten this place is fantastic. They have a lot of GF next to dishes but in the small print below, on the menu, it says it can be made GF but you have to ask. I have been sick 3 days now because of this misunderstanding. I may go back, but maybe not. This is why I prefer to eat at home.
Excellent Thai food in a lovely spot in Leucadia. Tom Kha, green curry and drunken noodles were all delicious!
The Bun noodle dish was amazing! Will for sure go back. I gotta try the Ban Mai
Is there a “bird’s eye” camera that captures how busy everyone pretends to look?
Upon requesting a “to go” order, the manager pointed up and back
to the order (as if I’m supposed to go behind the counter?).
An employee then took a tiny piece of scotch tape to the bag, which did absolutely nothing to seal the food from getting cold.
I then asked why the meat skewers were sticking out the box and getting cold, to which the manager defensively, dismissively informed me
I was being ridiculous verbatim. Then hung up on me abruptly before I could even respond.
Pretty dang good dinner! Everything tasted super fresh and delicious. The place was packed for Tuesday dinner—they do great business here! Though as a result, the dining room was very loud making conversation a bit tricky.
Service was friendly, but not overly involved. Orders were taken and food delivered very promptly.
My green curry was super fresh and tasty and, while not a huge portion, was quite filling. No matter that they gave me chicken instead of the beef I had actually ordered, it was still super yummy.
Super great menu for people like me with gluten allergies! I’d say around 70% of the menu was gluten-conscious. They worked well with my peanut allergy too. Much of the menu could be made vegetarian as well!
I don’t know why this place doesn’t have better ratings. The wait time can be long, but it’s because everyone loves the food. We eat here at least twice a month and we love trying this food all over the place. Top 5 favorite this spots for sure
Love love it.Freah,clean and Great
My friend has a lot of allergies. This restaurant does everything fresh. They accommodated all her requests. She enjoyed her soup. I had the curry shrimp bowl. It was so flavorful and fresh.
Insanely good pho and yellow curry
Amazing food, feel and service! I'll be back!
Food so yummy! Fresh, light, nourishing, & just makes you feel good! Crowded...loud...raised voices to have conversation at the table...service ok....many servers but each had individual tasks...ordered...3 servers including ours stood at bar...about 10 mins later a lady from no where came with our 2 glasses of wine & never received the hot tea...oh well...definitely be back though...think will do take out :)
This place is underrated. I’ve eaten here for years, mostly for takeout, and it’s always been good. Good quality ingredients and consistently well prepared.
This is My fav restaurant in north county! The food is always incredible and the service is always amazing. So reasonably priced for the quality of food and the location too. We always go here after a day at the beach and never leave disappointed!
Was very busy and too many people. The service suffered because of its success.
I drive from San Diego proper to get my Birdseye Kitchen fix! I wished they had one in PB/La Jolla area. Service is great, attentive and with a smile. We mostly come here for lunch due to our schedule and the drive. We love that the ingredients are organic or grass fed. Everything tastes delicious but here are our favs:
Shrimp appetizer
Drunken noodle with half duck
The crispy coconut rice special
Mushroom salad
Papaya salad
Pork cheeks
Pho
Ginger dish with chicken although I preferred their pork in the past (not pork belly)
Curry dishes are delicious but it’s been too warm to order it
Love love loveee this place and wished there were more south East Asian restaurants who had just as great ingredients as they do.
Also I was quite surprised by their wonderful wine list. It’s very unique for an Asian restaurant.
Regrettably, the quality of service from a white male staff member varies embarrassingly based on the customer’s race. Drawing from my experiences traveling around the world, it’s a rare occurrence in this day and age. Food was OK.
We went to Birdseye on a Sunday evening to celebrate a birthday. We made a reservation and were sat quickly after arriving. The restaurant was very busy and very loud. The loudness knocked one star off the atmosphere since it was hard to talk to and hear my group. Otherwise, a very lovely restaurant inside.
The service was a bit slow, which i am attributing towards how busy it was. We did not get our entrees for about an hour after ordering. Which, i am giving 3 stars.
The food on the other hand was INCREDIBLE and well worth the wait! Every dish we had was flavorful and perfectly cooked. It was so good that the slowness of the food did not impact my overall rating of the restaurant.
I highly recommend for some of the best Thai food and incredibly gluten free friendly food.
Phad Thai was well on the sweet side...
The food quality and taste is wonderful! The atmosphere is a little bit noisy, but I like how they expanded and the decor is lovely. The prices relative to the meat portions are ridiculously expensive. I made it clear in the very beginning when I walked up to the to-go counter, I wanted a lot of meat. I asked for their suggestion on what to get to ensure that happened. I got a $20 curry, paid $2 for beef and $6 for extra beef; totally ~$28-29. It came very thinly sliced and I only received about 2oz of beef. I called the restaurant, and they assured me they weigh every portion and it is the proper amount. They wouldn’t tell me how many ounces they use, but I’ve been food prepping for many years and used to be a manager at The Ritz-Carlton, among other experiences in the food industry. I hand picked all of the meat out and put it on a separate container, so they could see how little it was. They were giving me resistance over the phone; so since I was close, I drove back. When I got to the restaurant, the owner came up and she was SO rude to me. She was accusing me of eating some already, saying: “I don’t know what you already ate.” Not only was she fighting me on it and saying that’s just what it is, you have to pay for it and just accept it, she also told her waitress to note that if I come back I’m not allowed to order extra meat. Are you kidding me?! The waitresses were very kind and apologetic for her behavior. However, I looked at the owner and said don’t bother, I won’t be back here. It’s such a shame, because the food is very good quality and taste, and I’ve been eating there for many years. Although, I refuse to support somebody who treats customers like that. So I drove to the grocery store and picked up some grass fed ground beef, then proceeded to go home and cook it. An hour later I finally got to add it to my $30 overpriced meal and finish my dinner. I should’ve just gone to a nice restaurant and treated myself to a 6-8 ounce steak dinner. I think I’m being generous giving it a 2 instead of a 1 star based on that alone. This owner should not be in the F&B industry if she doesn’t understand basic customer service and how to treat customers with respect. I’ve had bad service a couple times I went there in the past, but thought I’d try again; especially since I’ve been going there so many years. I’ve never experienced that level of disrespect in any restaurant or establishment; so I will never step foot into this place again.
Always amazing experience. Great service and attention from the servers and staff.
Always consistent.
Went back again...yes that's on me. I feel like Charlie brown waiting for Lucy to not pull the ball away..anyway, food was the same, basic thai, with extra small portions and subpar service. They dont really care to have your business so if you dont like the food or portion size too bad. There are not that many thai restaurants on the coast so they dont really have to care.
The service was quite unsatisfactory, with servers displaying discourteous behavior. There's a pressing need for personnel changes, including replacing the current server and significantly increasing the staff count.
Food is REALLY good. Service not so great. Very long wait times for both take out and dining in. And twice so far they’ve messed up our take out orders (left things out).

A favorite local spot. Fresh and outstanding flavors - quite a departure from American style Asian cuisine (think of this as typical Thai or Vietnamese but with a huge level up)
We drove 20 minutes to try this place, we had an unpleasant experience ordering pickup with a girl who was unwelcoming, unfriendly, unhelpful and short. Said we'd get a text when it's ready, but 50 minutes later when we ask why we haven't received a text we find out it's been ready. Curries were then mediocre.
We had a dinner order for carry out. A complete joke- the smallest portions, watery sauce the satay and overcooked noodle dish. The satay was thrown in a box and not on the kebabs. We just traveled to SE Asia and are satay so kind you don’t take it off the stick. Will not return and live in the area. Very expensive for the portions and quality.
Katie was exceptional! Such great food and ambiance- we will be back for sure!
Great experience, wonderful ambience, fast and friendly service and the food was excellent. I loved that nearly everything could be gluten free. Vegan is an option too. We will definitely be back.
Extremely adorable place to grab a drink and some food. My boyfriend and I went during their "social hour" which was awesome because they had some great food items for 1/2 the regular price.
I got the Lo-Fi Spritz and Cheese Board - super tasty and highly recommend for anyone that isn't super hungry. The cheese board is perfect for sharing with another person.
View was perfect and the staff was attentive and knowledgeable.
Excellent service and very delicious food, my wife and I went last June/12/2023,, everything soo nice
I have been eating at Birdseye since 2017. It was always outstanding and packed. The waitstaff was the same for years and years, rock solid. After they expanded to next door, everything went down hill. Nothing is consistent. The service is terrible and the wait times for food are tremendous. Makes me sad to write a negative review for what was my fav restaurant in North County. Won’t be returning.
We come here weekly! Best Thai food in town. Super authentic with organic meats and awesome staff!
The service was the worst
Service is absolutely horrendous. It seems extremely unorganized and takes forever to simply order. The food is amazing, but the waiting staff makes it difficult to want to come back. Portion sizes also seem to be shrinking as time goes on.
Picked up order and they packed liquid dishes in cardboard containers and into paper bag. Everything leaked out and they don’t pick up the phone to try to get a replacement . Can’t understand how they pack pick up orders
This used to be one of the best restaurants in Encinitas, but I can no longer recommend it. Food is expensive, portions are very small, they made mistakes, and it wasn't even good (we had issues with every dish we ordered--the curry included ingredients that were not listed online (otherwise we would have asked them to not be included), the pho was missing add-ons (bean sprouts, basil--and filled with cabbage), and the green curry was just bad). Furthermore, our online pick up time said 7pm and we didn't receive our food until 7.50---AND THEN ONE OF THE CURRY DISHES WAS COLD. Although this experience was particularly bad--this was the last straw--our last few orders have not been great, either.
This restaurant is extremely inconsistent and slow.
Every time you order take out they don't start cooking until you show up to pick it up.
I've sat and waited for over an hour for my food while other customers show up, get seated and served while my takeout isn't even ready👌
Killer spot for Vietnamese food with lots of organic or clean ingredients. Love the wraps with wild shrimp. Drunken noodles and banh mi sandwiches were on point. Reasonably priced, would definitely recommend and return
Honestly, I like the food here but they need to update the wait time for pick up. They told me my food would be ready at 7:20 and it wasn’t ready until about 7:55. It’s not ok to have people standing around & waiting this long for their food. There were several other people waiting around for over 30 mins when they were told their food would be ready. At that point, I could have just ordered there and waited as long. I’m very disappointed in their customer service and lack of communication. If I didn’t pay online, I would have just left.
Edit: tried again to give them one more chance and same problem. Waited over 40 mins for food. They have no regard for people’s time. Oh and they made it wrong with beef instead of chicken and not GF. The food tasted awful this time too- it was clear they were rushing. Be very careful if you’re celiac! Do not recommend and I used to be a loyal customer a year ago. Def not worth coming back after these 2 experiences!
Yuck. Very disappointing food. Gelatinous sauces. No seasonings. Poor service. Give it a pass.
Big disappointment. My meal looked a glob of brown gluten. The noodles were overcooked and stuck together. The veggies weren't crisp and the Thai basil had been cooked to nothingness. It was overly greasy as the fat from the pork belly permeated everything. This was a very sad imitation of Thai food.😞
Best restaurant in Encinitas
Wow this is one of the worst places for eat, the food was really bad and the service was horrible, I waited one hour for my food and I received a burned food and the waiter told me that I had to wait another hour for get my food again, this is hilarious
Don’t waist your time in this horrible place
We had incredible Thai and Vietnamese food here last week! I had the red curry and my family got the chicken and beef pho. Excellent service, loved the ambiance and the food was fresh, tasty and delicious!!!
The best restaurant. Food is incredible my husband and I are obsessed. Thank you
We went on a Sunday night around 630pm, and they were pretty packed, but they had quick service. We only waited about 5-10mins before being seated. The food was excellent. I got the Thai Basil with chicken! It was awesome!!! Drunken noodles are also delicious. Definitely worth the stop!
This is the best Thai food we’ve had! Better than any of the restaurants in Los Angeles.
Hard to find a Thai food place that sources quality organic meets like this! Always a delicious meal, and always incredibly friendly service! Love the Thai Basil beef and drunken noodles!
Outstanding food, you can't go wrong.
I liked the food and simple service style at this restaurant, the prices are fair as well. Thanks:)
Third time here. Food still good. Service was awful however. Waited 20mins to get asked for a drink, had to walk up to someone.
Not attentive, they weren’t personable.
The wait staff is wonderful. The setting is comfortable and informal, including outside seating, and the food needs more descriptive adjectives than I have in my vocabulary.
Atmosphere is nice, and the service was good, food tasty, menu is well marked regarding dietary restrictions. However I was just really very disappointed in the portions - particularly lack of protein in the dish. I just had a smoothie an hour before I dined here so I did not expect to leave hungry. However there were only like 5 pieces of shrimp in a curry dish that was $20, felt a bit short changed.
Good food that everyone enjoyed. Ethically sourced meat (grass fed, organic, free range, wild caught etc..). Thai iced tea was really good
Great Thai Food.
Recently, I had the pleasure of dining at Bird's Eye Kitchen, a hidden gem in Encinitas, California. Known for its authentic Thai cuisine, this restaurant exceeded my expectations in both taste and atmosphere. I decided to try their signature Pad Thai, and I must say, it was an amazing experience.
The dish boasted the perfect balance of spiciness and savoriness. The noodles were cooked to perfection, and the generous portion of pork belly made this dish truly indulgent.
It’s so good!
Love this place. One of my favorite restaurants in all of North County San Diego. I recently took my family who's visiting from Seattle. They commented that it's the best Thai food they've had outside of Thailand. We loved the Shrimp Plaa, pineapple fried rice, and fake fried fish.
Food was really good and service was fast even though they were busy.
Best restaurant in north county - they expanded the restaurant so there’s more space if you’re dinning in.
High quality ingredients, tasty food.
Best Thai food in town and maybe in entire California. Red and yellow curries are the best
Ordering take out is worth it food is tasty quality is yum, but dining in is a headache"major headache" #notworthit you're lucky if anyone even approaches you. This is the over all vibe of Encinitas #dining it seems... wait for mediocrity. #waittobeseated #culturalbackseat #tastyistasty #service -trash-#foodfire
The quality of the food was outrageous!
The service was fantastic.
And the company was memorable. What a blessing to be at this place tonight.
Very disappointed with Birdseye Kitchen. I decided to take my lady there for Valentines, we ordered the vegetarian pho, green curry and Thai basil fried rice.
Out of the three, the only edible item was the fried rice. The pho had no flavor, like glass noodles and raw vegetables in water. Absolutely disgusting. The green curry was closer to coconut milk soup, again with raw veggies in it. Like they had just thrown a handful in and sent it out.
Not only was the food poor, it took over an hour and a half to come out. And the service left a lot to be desired, with what seemed like a priority of getting to-go orders out over the patrons at tables.
Many people sitting waiting for food, dishes not being served together, we waited 10 mins after out fried rice was served to receive the rest of our order.
Rest assured we will not be returning.
Super disappointed in the vegan pho and green curry tonight. Both had zero flavor. The restaurant was extremely loud, service was decent.
Amazing Thai food we miss the original red rice please bring it back.
Charming atmosphere and friendly staff; unfortunately, I found the food overpriced and just okay. The calamari was unique and well presented, but it's very chewy
Great experience! Food was soooo good.
Very disappointed with the food and service today. I ordered the Pho and the meat was clumped up in a ball. I also ordered a Thai coffee and it never showed up because the server forgot.
My husband and I waited for 45 minutes before my plate was ready but not my husband’s. They served the people (big group) who came after us before getting us our food. They also forgot to put tofu in my husband’s pho and so we sent the bowl back 😩 all they said was “sorry” and one of the guys who work there said to us “ya it happens all the time” 😳
This is the first time I’m writing a negative comment, but it was a very unpleasant experience and we are never going to this place again.
They need to update their takeout ordering. Their time estimates have always been horrible. I thought it would get better with online ordering but not even close. Consistently double the time advertised. It's never organized inside.
We had our anniversary dinner here. The food was amazing, the service was very helpful, but the atmosphere is more of a family style restaurant. Nothing wrong with that; it's just not what I expected. It's also almost all tables and chairs, so maybe add some booths to improve the privacy?
Ordered the yellow curry with chicken. There was hardly any chicken. My husband was very disappointed. I ordered the red curry chicken. Same thing and it had a weird smell to it. We live locally and was hoping this would be our go to place but that’s not going to happen. So disappointed.
Arrived to pick up takeaway order at the time they said to come. Waited an hour and a half at the restaurant to pick up food. The manager said they were too busy. Didn’t offer any sort of apology. She just didn’t care. Finally got the food home… missing food items on our order. Food hastily prepared.
Food is 5 star but the restaurant does not have the infrastructure to handle demand. I did an online order and it took over an hour and a half for the food to be ready. Close to an hour after the estimated time. I, along with about 20 people, waited at the bar for pickup orders. Extremely frustrating and a great way to ruin an evening
Food was alright. Service was absolutely terrible. One dish came out after 40 minutes and than the other came out after another 10. Waitress basically ignored us. Had to ask about our food, refill for water, and check. They seemed a bit understaffed but the same waitress stopped at the table across from us multiple times opposed to none for us.
The food may be good but they put way too many people in the place for offering quality service
Food was mediocre and took an hour to arrive
Horrible experience. Avoid this place. Overpriced food that comes to the table cold and missing ingredients! No apology. Server doesn’t know the menu and has no clue about service. Go at your own risk!!
Staying at Brisa Pacifica and found this restaurant. Excellent food, lovely staff so went back again.
We eat there a lot, the food is so fresh and great tests so heathy!! But the service is SO bad!! It takes over an hour to get our meal and they pretty much ALWAY mess it up, making us have to wait even longer. SO annoying!!!!!!!!
This experience started at 5 Stars and worked its way down to a meager 3. Decent food and unacceptable/non existent service.
The Drunken Noodle plate with beef.. absolutely amazing! Highly recommend! The entire reason it started at a 5 Star!
Other members in my party had the House Noodle Pho (reportedly had bland flavor) and Green Curry (when it arrived...if it were their first time and they had to judge the restaurant based on it.. they wouldn't come back.)
The atmosphere was laid back. Everyone was friendly and the regulars had their conversations. Great place for chill vibes.
The service was a joke. Our waitress wasn't attentive and ditched serving our table for a more appealing 7 top. The food took an absorbent amount of time to come out (a 2 top sat next to us after we ordered, got their food.. AND FINISHED IT.. before ours came out). When our food came out, they completely forgot to bring the Curry. We had to flag another waiter down to get it made for us. The waitress never checked back in.
TLDR: Seems hit or miss with food quality and service was something to be desired. Maybe the next set for Kitchen Nightmares?
Food was decent but my wife ended up finding a hair in her dish. The service was terrible. They had like 2 servers and a bus boy trying to handle the entire place. When the waitress came over she made you feel like she was doing you a favor to bring something. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.
I’m a frequent customer of Birdseye because admittedly the food is pretty good. However, the service is laughable. We waited 10 minutes before anyone even came to our table with water. We placed our order and the waitress only brought out 2 out of our 5 plates. Two of the people at our table ate by themselves while the rest of us waited for our order. Had to see what was taking so long, turns out they had completely forgotten the rest of our order. The treatment we received was atrocious. I have quite literally never been subjected to such terrible service.
The food was delicious! The Drunken Noodles were amazing. So we're the crunchy Pork Rolls. I loved their Beer Lao. James our waiter (who just started 3 weeks ago) was friendly, with a smile and very personable. We'll be back.
Decent food but way too slow. Youll be waiting along time for some average food.
By far one of the best Thai meals I have ever had. The Thai salad and the chicken wok noodles were unreal. As was the mango sticky rice!!
This place is awesome! The green curry was super flavorful and all the apps have been nice 👍
I ordered a Lao style papaya salad and my husband got a Vietnamese style vermicelli bowl (bun)
Both was so delicious! And we had a nice chat with Apple, the waitress.
Everything was fantastic! We will come back.
Great because grass fed and taste very good
Maybe you should get your phone fixed and hire some more help so you dont have to be rude to your customers and actually COOK your food
Got the beef Pho, a Thai coffee, soft and crunchy rolls. Everything was super good. The wifey had Tom Kha soup, she'd give it 3-4 stars.
Something special, I would like to see this place again when I ever I’m in the area
Love the food. Seems like the "to-go" portions are smaller than most, but delicious!
The food is excellent and the staff ts very helpful.
