GAI βN RICE
Authentic Thai Chicken Rice
Born in Sactown! 2019
Family owned
The curry noodle is spicy π₯ watch out
Classic chicken was really yummy
Crispy chicken was alright, but I think I'd like to try the basil chicken next instead. The breading got soggy by the time I got home, so maybe something better to eat there and not do for pick up. Take out packaging was great,
It's right by the freeway, very easy for pick up
I ordered the Thai noodle soup. The chicken breast, and broth were hella clean. The chili oil that the bowl came with allowed for extra kick. It was pretty good for clean eating! The meal was served in a to go plate which was really convenient if you had extras to take home. Super nice clean spot! Workers were super nice too!
I got the Curry Noodle Gai with an extra side of chicken and the Charming Dumplings. The curry noodle was really good as it came with a good kick to it. Not too spicy but just right. The dumplings were tasty! To top it off, I got two drinks. Herbal Jelly, I think, and the other Iced Pink Milk? Both were sweet and refreshing, especially in this summer heat. Overall satisfied with the food, but the order took a good minute to come out and I felt like they forgot my order. Other than that, it wasn't the worse experience I've had.
First time trying Gai βN Rice and we love it at first time. We ordered Classic and Lean. The chicken breast is tender, juicy and flavorful. Their sauce are on point. The rice is cooked to perfect, not too dry.
Their staffs are helpful and so friendly. The food served about 10 mins during lunchtime that is not too bad for me, personally.
This was my 1st time eating here. After reading lots of reviews I had high hopes. We ordered the Crizp dish and specifically asked for no cilantro but still had cilantro. I think the rice was the best part. The chicken lacked flavor and some parts of the breeding wasn't cooked and was still mushy (I'll spare you the photo). Overall don't feel there's a need to return.
We ordered the crisp, dumplings, curry/noodles, rama and mango sticky rice and taro puff and each one was DELICIOUS, our family devoured every bit!
the curry noodle gai is a must get! the sauce is super creamy and they definitely donβt skimp out on the chicken. service was great, definitely recommend!
Never knew about this Elk Grove gem until today! Came with friends and they all absolutely enjoyed their meals here!
Food:
- Curry Noodle Gai: sooooo delicious with its creamy coconut flavor; I ate all the noodles and took the remaining curry home to eat with rice b/c it was sooooo good with every bite and sip
Service:
- the front desk worker (I believed their name was Jodin? Giodin?) was an absolute gentleman and provided me with menu recommendations in according to what my preferences were. I would definitely come back here again just based on the service alone!!!
Atmosphere:
- nice and cozy interior; love the blackboard-type menu really gives the place a home-cozy vibe
- overall very clean place and appealing to the eye
tldr 10/10 would come back again & kudos to the staff there!
Simply delicious.
My family and I absolutely love the food here! The curry and the Crizp are both so delicious that I have to order both every time I go!
We regularly go here if we want a quick, delicious good food.

We love the food! Unfortunately the AC was not working when it was over 100 degrees outside!
I didn't get a chance to try the food here but wife said she liked it. I just wanted to leave review on how long food takes 25 mins. Better order for pickup.
My wife is Thai and very, very, very picky about her Thai food (sheβll even go back in the kitchen at some restaurants to interview the chef, see if theyβre up to snuff). She says Khao Man Gai is very hard to make good and that this place has some of the best sheβs tasted (and remember, sheβs really, really, really picky). I like their Crizp chicken (I sub out the sweet chili sauce for the Soy Bean Sauce). When I get home I throw some more cilantro and sliced cucumbers on top. Weβre going back today for more, itβs very addictive! I think they put a lot of love into their cooking, always been satisfied with them! Keep up the great work!
Love it! Every dish was clean and tasty.
I went in around 2 PM. And it wasnβt that busy so the food came out pretty quick. I always come here every now and then, but I was gone for a bit for vacation and the first thing I thought was this place. They have really good food and the rice taste so much better than regular rice.

How do they get it so crispy?? Rice is flavorful too. Peanut sauce > sweet sauce.
Best Thai food in town. π₯°
Go for the Gang Gai. You can't go wrong. Everything is fresh and almost like Mom's cooking. The Ice Pink Milk is to die for and wherever you pick, do not forget the Mango Sweet Sticky Rice. You'll never forgive yourself for forgetting to get it
I absolutely love this place. LOVE! Let me start off by saying that my family frequented the establishment that used to be at this location, Tea Rex. Upon hearing of its closure and a new business taking over, we were curious about what was going to be here.
Gai 'N Rice succeeded our expectations. Guys, don't let the food pics dissuade you. It doesn't look that appealing tbh. It looks so bland and boring. BUT! It's not! The herb infused rice is bomb diggity and the crizp chicken had my son wanting to go back the next day. And, we did!
The Ga Pao Gai is also delicious and so is the Thai tea!
Did not expect a good find here in elk grove. Thai food here is very well done along with the thai ice tea and coffee. unfortunately the only problem is the price is a bit high
for me but its definitely worth coming back to though compare to other thai restaurants ive been to.
I've been to this place several times and can't seem to get past the Thai basil chicken. I go in, thinking "today's a curry day," and end up with the basil chicken - it is just so dang good! I often get the lemonade with the purple stuff in it (can't recall the name), but I think that, at $6 a glass, I'll let it pass next time. But do go for the chicken!
Gai 'N Rice is a great. Their yellow chicken is a standout dish, a savory simplistic taste that's clean and tasty with a chicken rice that's flavorful and delicious.
My wife, who's from Thailand and her favorite dish is Khao Man Gai. She has been disappointed by this dish from other places we have tried. Today, we found this place and decided to give it a try. After the first bite, her eyes lit up and said we no longer have to go to Thailand to eat this dish anymore. Thank goodness because plane tickets have been getting expensive and I can't afford to go there every year just because she misses good Thai food.
Stopped in for dinner with my daughter. The food was outstanding aswel as the staff. I had the Crispy chicken while my daughter opted for the curry and noodles. Very happy that we stumbled upon this place!
Food was delicious and healthy. I will be a repeat customer.

Ordered two classic plates and they were okay however our order was forgotten. We came in around 3pm and there was only 1 other person who was eating in the restaurant. We waited over 30mins before going up to ask about the status of our orders and the front lady said "oh sorry we're still working on it" and then you can hear them actually start on it... never returning again.

Great food I got the take two a few times now! Itβs great! The sauces are on point! Also you can get veggies with half rice also! The Thai cucumber salad is awesome too! We come here 2 times a week now! Plenty of food for the price too
Food was really good for what it was. But we waited almost 40 minutes for 3 orders of chicken and rice with a side of cucumber salad. I get they were busy because dinner rush was starting, but that is just way too long. Maybe I'll give them another chance for lunch one day, but I can't wait that long for take-out at dinner time.
I got the curry chicken rice and it looks like your typical thai chicken rice dish. Very very orange with a really nice flavored rice (which is different from many places). It's pretty sweet and very flavorful making it one of my more unique places. My issue is I asked for really spicy or max spice level and I ended up getting a very mild spicy dish. In my opinion, it's not even spicy. (In a more general asian term, it's akin to white people spicy which isn't bad but not what I look for in Thai places). The only other issue is how small dish it is making it a hard time to come back to tbh (even tho the quality is really good). For 14 bucks, it's kind of a hard sell and I expected maybe 1.25x more?
Ok, their beverages are on point. Thai coffee is especially good for the price and flavor and how strong it is too.
Opening day, this place was busy. Came just before 7pm which is closing time for them. Free Thai Tea with order. Will they keep that up in the future? Doubt it, but you never know.
Got the Gang Gai which is yellow curry with chicken. It was exceptionally spicy. I got an extra chicken thigh for $6, a bit high if you ask me. The rice was great.
(If the owner sees this, you need more rice with the curry. The amount given is nowhere near enough and the trash cans outside your store overflows quickly so you might want to keep an eye on that.)
Outside of that service was friendly. Food was great tasting. I will definitely go again when it's not as busy.
Normally I stay away from opening day, but not this time. We missed their Crizp Chicken and Classic Chicken over rice so much!
For background information, we have been regular customers at the Freeport location, but it has been temporarily closed for renovation due to a fire in the kitchen last year. So, it's been a minute!
The food is just as fantastic as we remembered. It was worth the 50 min wait. I got there at 11am. The Crizp Chicken is nicely battered and lightly deep fried. I just can't get enough of the fragrant jasmine rice! It goes with everything! The Classic Chicken is a healthier option compared to Crizp. The soybean garlic sauce is delicious and will elevate any lean chicken breast.
For grand opening, a complimentary Thai tea with each entrΓ©e.
Highly recommend. Let's give them a warm welcome to the neighborhood.
