I’ve been coming here since they were located downtown ~ Chef’s Choice Noodle Bar is a must-try for anyone craving delicious food. Their Pad Thai is hands down the best in town—perfectly balanced with the right amount of spice, sweetness, and tang. The noodles are cooked to perfection, and the dish is packed with fresh ingredients, including crunchy peanuts and your choice of protein, all tied together with a flavorful sauce. The atmosphere is casual yet inviting, and the staff is friendly and attentive. Whether you're a Pad Thai enthusiast or new to Thai cuisine, Chef's Choice is definitely a place to visit for an unforgettable meal.
The drunken noodles were amazing as usual. Our waitress (Hailey) was attentive and made sure we were comfortable with our menu selections and checked on us frequently . It’s been a while since I’ve received this type of 5star service. I feel obligated to share. The atmosphere was nice and very clean. I will definitely go back when I’m in town. Thank you Noodle Bar.
The food here was incredibly impressive! The server was so kind considering we had a huge party who were a bit demanding. 😅
I got the Mongolian Chicken and it was spicy, fresh, and delicious!
My husband had the glass noodles and he said it was amazing!
The food is incredibly tasty and came out so fast!! Clean, beautiful location with a friendly staff. What more could you want?
For appetizers we got spring rolls, avocado crispy wontons wasn’t anything special spring rolls were ok, for main course I got the egg and chicken soup it wasn’t special added sarachi sauce made it way better my wife got the shrimp curry it lacked flavor or anything special so I give this place a average rating nothing exciting or really delicious. Spent 79.61 with tip service was slow but ok.
Not good anymore. It was like the meat was stirred so much you only got little bits, and the sauces seemed almost burned. Usually I love the pad see ew, but like I said, the meat was shredded like canned meat with a few slices thrown in. The pad Thai was the same way. The panang curry was good, but it’s overpriced for the tiny little bowl you get. Sadly, even their rice was dry. I am so sad that this one more Bakersfield restaurant off our list. I love the bartender and the staff, but no one was keeping an eye on the cook. One sad star for food.
It's great if you want Asian food. Not if you want real Thai flavors. Pho, Sushi, Orange chicken, wonton soup? I understand you try to cater to your customers, but it is a bit of a let down when someone is looking for great authentic Thai food.

A spacious and clean restaurant with authentic Thai flavors made by Thai people. Highly recommended!
Great HH.
Always had great service, and the food is great. Drunken noodles with chicken is my favorite .
Update!!!
When I originally left a review for this place, the Noodle Bar was downtown. Since the move to the marketplace, the quality of their service, food, and prices has gotten worse.
My go-to has always been the Thai fried rice. Now it's greasy and dry. What used to cost $13 is now $20 for rice.
I steer very clear of this place now. Even after the manager gave me a $50 gift card for their servers' ridiculous service given to me.
Should revise their hours, called to place a take out order around 9:05 on a Saturday and was told their kitchen was closed. When I asked about their closing time of 9:30 the guy’s literal response was “it depends on how busy we are, and we aren’t, so yeah I know bummer” kinda rude
Food was great. Had the ribeye thai style...it was freaking amazing. The server was great. If I lived near there, I would definitely go back
I always enjoy the food.
My mom and I had lunch the other day. We had a great experience. Our waiter had a wonderful personality full of energy and positivity. The restaurant was nice and clean. We ordered the combo fried rice and the chicken with cashews. One word - DELICIOUS!
Delicious pad Thai - and it was enough for another meal!
The food is over price.. also the service lady didn't even get my order right.
Trash. I got pho with a lot of reddish and hardly any noodles. They didn't even give me sauce. The lady talked to me like I was dumb. They over price it..
Great food, good service, nice atmosphere.
The service was good. The atmosphere was a decent. The main part of this review was the food. $20 for pad thai was a little of a stretch, but adding roasted duck for 9$ was crazy, especially when the roasted duck was maybe 3oz at most and completely lost in the noodles. When I did find some it was kinda mushy. The flavor of the pad thai was extremely sweet with zero spice. Tamarind, palm sugar, fish sauce. Too much sugar with little to no fish sauce. It was definitely a fusion place but I would not recommend it if you have had decent pad thai. I would rank this amongst the worst I've had. My wife had mongolian beef and it was very subpar. The flavor was the same as stir fry seasoning packets you get at a grocery store. With the thai jerky appetizer, mongolian beef and pad thai it was almost $80. Not recommended.
The atmosphere is cute, modern, clean. The bar staff not so welcoming. Bartender quickly asked what I wanted before I received a menu and never checked back in after I got the food. Food was nothing special and expensive. Could’ve been a favorite spot but hard pass.
A hometown favorite where everything is delicious from the cocktails to the curry.
If you do not order the crab cakes and crème brûlée cheesecake, YOU ARE MISSING OUT!!!
This type of food isn't my favorite but I saw they have orange chicken, so I ordered it as well as 2 other people in my group. It had several fried chicken pieces but when I tried one it was just breading. I tried another and it was a lot of breading and a little piece of chicken and I couldn't taste the chicken. I gave a piece to my mother and she pulled the chicken out from the breading and again it was small. It also had a smell to it that I can't describe but I just pushed the bowl away and quit eating. One of the others that ordered the same didn't like it either and quit eating hers as well. The waitress asked if I wanted something else and we both declined. She took the food away. One person had a duck plate of some sort and liked it. One person had tempura shrimp and said it was ok. One person had a shrimp bowl and liked it. I know I will never come back and 3 others said the same after we were presented with the checks and our 2 orange chicken bowls were there.. I don't believe that was right and we then paid the bills and left. The waitress was nice but I believe she should have taken care of those dishes since I only ate 3 pieces. Sorry I didn't take pictures. I definitely should have.
We started with the lump crab cakes. I will not order them again. I had the crispy duck - it was delicious, and the serving amount was more than I could handle. The server was friendly, although we waited quite a while before anyone showed up. The dining room was adequate. The only really negative thing I can say is that the cocktails were definitely not worth the price.
Not good anymore. It was like the meat was stirred so much you only got little bits, and the sauces seemed almost burned. Usually I love the pad see ew, but like I said, the meat was shredded like canned meat with a few slices thrown in. The pad Thai was the same way. Omg, the drunken noodles. I read some bad reviews about them, but 100% of them were ordered for takeout. Go to the freaking place and have them, period. They are magnificent!
I remember going to the noodle bar when they were downtown which was ages ago. But loving the new location. Everything was delicious and the staff were amazing. The quality of the food was good. Although personally there are other Thai restaurants that I'd rather go to.
noodles seemed old. Me and my date couldn't eat more than two bites of the food we got . I ordered pad tai and she ordered some kind of soup. 65 bucks for two bites of food and a soda .
This was our first times coming to the noodle bar and Staci was such an amazing server. She was able to offered recommendations for the menu, friendly and very accommodating. Thank you stacI! Can’t wait to come back.
Great place. Food was awesome and the bourbon old fashions are stellar. Heather was out server and she was great as well. Wonderful atmosphere and decor. A definite must visit!
First restaurant ive ever got food poisoning on the spot, Hadnt even left the building. The food was way too sweet(yes i know its meant to be a sweet and sour type of thing) but it was way too much. Really looked foward to trying this place but it was not for me.
First time I tried the food I was blown away. Now after going back about three times I feel like I'll never go back again. The noodles are overly sweet and quite inedible. Who ever is in the kitchen is not doing a good job with the recipes and dishes. My drunken noodle that I ordered for the second time was very hard to eat because the flavor was really bad. I tried again with pad thai and it's kinda nasty as well. I'm forcing myself to eat it cause I paid 19 bucks for it and I'm already home. The meatball soup is weird as hell. The meatballs texture is disgusting and I will be throwing them out. The broth is cool. I paid 19 dollars for that too. 40 bucks wasted. I should have just got a 5 dollar salad from damn Walmart.
First few times excellent. However did something change on 1/4? The food was really subpar that day. Felt like a waste of $80
I asked a Simple question. “What type of noodles does the pho usually come with” the server came off rude, after a long week of work I go out to eat to have a good time not to have to deal with someone else’s personal issues. I hate being a Karen but it is what it is.
The Pad Thai is always amazing here. It's one of my favorite places to eat ever.
Food was good however, service was not. Our server was painfully slow and it was not busy. Dine in was definitely not worth the price because of the service & the food is not enough to justify for the smaller size servings served on each plate. Party of 4 and one of those "entrées" was a side dish. Do not recommend the Roti dessert. It's like a fried flour tortilla with cinnamon+sugar+chocolate drizzle. It was a basic dessert and wish to have tried something better for a dessert.
It’s a great place. They are very nice and the food is always delicious!
The chefs noodle bar is even better now they have moved away from the downtown area.
Awesome food, great service, along with tasty
Cocktails!!
Bring your dog and sit on the patio. Drunken noodles are awesome but way spicy!
Nice place & clean, hostess, bus-boy and server (Bethany) pleasant and with good customer service skills.
Thai Crab cakes ($17) nothing but a cake of panko breading with a yellow/orangish paste inside, definitely no Crab meat at all, mentioned to Beth the server and she just brushed it off, I also asked if any of the fish was from fresh she said all was frozen, inquired about the Chilean Sea Bass ($45) she said it was breaded and fried my response, what a horrible thing to do to such fish, desired to order the Prime Rib-Eye Steak ($45) menu listed as a fresh carved, it was not prime grade quality in fact not on the top 8 steak grade quality rating it was mostly just fat, rest of the family ordered noodle dinners that were tasteless, bland no spice. Over all food is mediocre, poorly prepared, and pricey for the quality.
We love the Noodle Bar! The owners Nick Hansa and his wife Pum have created a beautiful space to dine, and the food is a 10!
You must try the crab fried rice!
Wonderfully decorated. Great looking place. Would be fine for a romantic dinner or a fun meal at an active bar.
Our server was nice, bright and fast.
We were looking for something a little more flavorful but was discouraged after ordering appetizer to hear that the thai food here was altered to the local taste buds.
We left, cancelled our main course order and will have continue our search for great flavor here in Bakersfield.
Delicious food!
Nick great waiter.
Great food, great service. Ribeye was great .
Excellent food, great service
the pho and spring rolls are amazing 10/10. service is always on point and the staff are very friendly. i get Heather as my waitress often and she’s wonderful. i’m always excited to come here and try something new
Flavorless. No spice. Overpriced. Poorly prepared. Menu claims the Larb Salad had a choice of steak, but it came as a pile of bland ground hamburger beef in a bowl next to four leaves of romain (for $17). Waitress was nice, but doesn't seem to understand what false advertising is (said there was a misconception on the menu description). Wont be dining in this whitewashed attempt at Thai fusion ever again. Nothing about our meal tasted authentic. Left hungry and unsatisfied.
Delicious cashew tofu and green curry chicken
Now located in the"Marketplace", I've liked this restaurant since it opened downtown several years ago. Very good food. Very good service.
I got the chow mien with vegetarian chicken and it was delicious, the service was great and I recommend this place. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Good atmosphere, poor service and the food is either too salty or too bland. Server kept rushing us when ordering. I ordered boba and it came as a lump.
I ordered here only through uber eats and didn't have issues. The food was always good when I got the delivery. I decided to try this place out in person and i would think the food would be even better but it was the opposite! Food was mediocre and lacked flavor when dining in. The service was mediocre as well. We told the server we didn't like the food and she just brushed it off and left us. Even though we didn't finish our food we just paid our bill and left. My thoughts when eating at a restaurant would be that the server could have asked the manager to go to our table and check to see why the food wasn't good. But nothing happened! The catfish was dry and the duck was very dry as well! I was not happy so I will not be ordering here again.
This was my first time going to this place, except food! Our waitress was so kind and pleasant, I will definitely be going here as often as I can. The prices are fantastic for the quality food you get.
If you’ve been to Thailand probably avoid this place. Lovely atmosphere and clean but had the worst Thai Basil ever. It arrived at the table “warm” and was obviously prepared by someone who doesn’t know how to prepare it properly. I would call this place the Denny’s of Thai cuisine. Bland, way too sweet, sauce not caramelized at all which completely ruins the dish’s taste. Told the waitstaff I’d been to Thailand seven times and I like the dish very spicy. So I get the “you can’t return the dish if it’s too spicy” speech and it wasn’t spicy at all. The biggest red flag is this establishment had no fresh Thai chilis. That’s a “sign” folks. Just green and red peppers. Waitstaff left our dirty plates on the table until just before bringing the bill. I’m guessing some of the dishes must be decent or they wouldn’t have been busy. Just definitely not for those who know how Thai food should taste. I’ve taken Thai cooking classes twice in Thailand and I know how to prepare Thai basil perfectly. This place was a clear reminder to me of why I avoid dining out. I would have called the manager over but didn’t want to embarrass the family member who was “treating” me to this dinner.
My lady and I finally had a date night on Sunday. First day in a long time without any kiddos. We ate here and the food was amazing. It wasn’t very busy at all and the service was really good. Totally recommend this establishment. Highly recommend The Drunkin noodles. Delicious. A little pricey but hey what isn’t expensive anymore? You can’t eat at Taco Bell for less than 20 bucks anymore
Ordered takeout early on Friday night-easy, quick. But disappointingly bland and colorless appearance on both dishes for "chef" restaurant . Both dishes had large amount of huge sliced carrots, very little better veggies. Very pricey for quality and quantity.
So glad this local restaurant came closer to the more modern side of the town; particularly Marketplace.
The variety is very well designed. Always something for everyone we take it to there. Beautiful cocktail menu and beer selection. But the food is always fast and very delicious no matter what you choose.
Disappointing. I never been to this new location and always went to the downtown location, but since they moved my friends and I decided to grab lunch. The waitress made us feel so uncomfortable with her coughing all over and not bothering to wash her hands. She looked sick and would lean against the backs of our chairs/table. Eventually, we ordered drinks and an appetizer but the whole time she was rushing us. My friends and I decided to pay and get the hell out of there. I’m just disappointed in the way we were treated and our overall experience. We didn’t feel welcomed and was very unpleasant.
I ordered fresh roll those have shrimp 🍤 awful taste. I ordered rice combo and wasn't cook all the way
The food here was incredibly impressive!
Over rated, food fair..overpriced
The chef is awesome 10/10 would recommend.
I saw them on Facebook on The Other 98% I live out of state but my best friend lives in California after October 4th I plan on visiting.
Very generous restaurant
Good job virtue signaling our chef couldn't go to Thailand before working here but were so great were sending him for free than posting about it to make us seem so virtuous and super great.
As I am from India, I was never your customer. But this is more like appreciation. The way you people are behaving your Employees is something I never thought.
Amazing company that respects its employees. Great food too!
Heard about this restaurant's management temporarily closing up shop so their head chef can visit his family in Thailand. It's great to see businesses like this that value and respect their employees. Will definitely stop here if I'm ever in the area. 👍
I have never been here but I did run across a very touching post about what this business does for their chef. Absolutely amazing!! I encourage anyone in the area to stop at Chef's Choice Noodle Bar.
I've gone to Chef's Choice Noodle Bar for several years--from the time they were located in downtown Bakersfield. The food has always been great. They are willing to make a dish (normally with meat) vegetarian as well. Clean place and friendly staff. Highly recommend.
We really loved the service , staff is very helpful and kind .Jeff is awesome and great host .
I have been to the noodle house many times when they were in downtown Bakersfield. Got take out from the new location. Very disappointed. Vegetarian so ordered tofu with everything. Barely any vegetables, too much tofu, too sweet, too salty and very pricey. Sad to say I wont be going back. Mediocre at best.
Service was good. Food was tasty but when I order something spicy I expect spicy. On a level of 1-5 spice level was about 1.
Haven't been there since they were downtown, and they're still good.
Best crab fried rice in this universe. I still haven't found anything to compare.
Expensive, nasty "Thai" food. Save your money and go somewhere else! Worst Thai restaurant we have ever been! Go to Singha Thai, Bangkok Street Food, Siam Iyara, or Thai House instead! This place sucks!
Wow...just wow. The food was perfectly prepared, the drinks were delicious and Clarissa is the friendliest server I've had the pleasure of talking to in quite some time. She recommended my meal, and knocked it out of the park!!! Will definitely be returning when I'm here working.
Went here for dinner last night, tried the drunken noodles because everything on the menu looked good and the waiter said that was his most popular dish. Unfortunately that was the worst thing I’ve ever tried. No flavor and the noodles were very rubbery. He noticed we ate none of it and thankfully took the plate back and we ordered something else which was okay. Not all what it seems to be and the waiter himself I wasn’t too sure about, not sure if I would go back.
This place never disappoints. Their food is full of flavor and I always leave wanting to come back. I love the new location at the marketplace.
2nd time coming here for business lunch. Place was not crowded both times for lunch. Atmosphere was calm and cool. Has a trendy vibe to the place. Service has been great and the servers we've had really pay attention and they've all been friendly. Food is tasty! I've had their pho and their duck plate and my husband has had their drunken noodles and chicken fried rice. Price is good for what you're getting. So far, everything has been great! They have outdoor and indoor seating. Cleanliness is on par👌 Bathrooms were clean and kept up. We'd go again!
Delicious food and great customer service! Will definitely be going back.
Food and service is great, just overpriced.
I'm a big fan. Great service and selection. Food is fresh and delicious. The setup is great for groups of all types. Entree prices a bit spendy for portion sizes, but the atmosphere makes up for it.
Love the drunken noodles!
I called to get a reservation for Valentine's Day for date night with my wife, the customer service was fantastic. We enjoyed the Saphire dining room and menu which consisted of a truly wonderful assortment of food. Everything from the delicious Poké salad to the housemade Raspberry Sherbet was delicious and has us excited for the next visit. Also... make sure to try one of thier exquisite cocktails or wines.
Donuts are fresh and filling
Great Atmosphere
Great place to eat!
Mai Thais were great. Duck over jasmine rice was tasty. Portions were a tad small for me and price but it’s the marketplace. Great experience and our server was excellent. Will return to try rest of menu
Noodles were like vomit with eggshells utterly disgusting bad service never again
We had 10 people in our group last night. Everyone's food was cold. It took a while between ordering and receiving, but not so long if the food was cooked recently that it would be cold. I see so many positive reviews, but sadly for us it wasn't last night 😔
Good food and Friendly service. I strongly recommend this spot to anyone. 😁
Went in around 3:30 pm to eat. First time and a couple were sitted in the booth that they were cleaning for us and acted as if we didn't even exist afterwards. Definitely never returning after this experience. If you have kids they are not welcoming at all to children.
Had our office Christmas dinner here a few nights ago. Food was really good (too busy talking for food pictures, but dessert was too pretty, not too lol) but it was really good, have to try their Strawberry Lemondrops sooo good!!! Our server was pleasant and helpful answered all our questions about food and drinks and our food came surprisingly quick! The atmosphere is nice, open spaces, nice big bar area, open patio with heaters. Will definitely come again!
Clean. The food was excellent. The staff was great too.
Very disappointed
We were looking forward to celebrating my birthday here but we sat here for a good 20 mins the waiter kept walking past us , never to take our order ,
We ended walking out and they didn’t care when we told them why we were walking out
They didn’t seem to be short staffed
I came here to eat with two friends and as a whole it was overpriced, poorly cooked, and simply not a satisfying meal. My meal was the chow mein minus scallions and the carrots were tough and barely cooked. One person got the Pho which was mostly bean sprouts with a little bit of meat and noodles with no beef tongue, tripe, or anything else usually found in the meal. The other person received the glass noodles which was overcooked entirely, the noodles chewy, the meat akin to cardboard.
The staff were friendly, polite, and helpful with our waitress taking off the overcooked meal and the manager Heather, after we came to understand how poorly made the meal was, giving us a full refund and taking our criticism of the meal. We probably won't be eating here again, but the manager claims they have a fair amount of new staff due to a recent move and it will hopefully improve in the future.
We had pre planned reservations for a party of five people days in advance, and have dined here many times before. The service and food has always been great. However this evening we were seated close to the open doors in the bar, it was only 60 degrees outside. Service was great. Prior to our Grandparents arriving, we asked to be moved or if the doors could be closed since it was obviously not a great temperature to be dining in. We asked our server to be moved indoors or if the doors could be closed, she told us the manager of the evening (Heather) would not accommodate our situation. Considering our elderly Grandparents would not enjoy eating at an outdoor temperature, we changed our plans and went to Tahoe Joes. Thanks for the service, but if we wanted to eat in the parking lot we would have. We will be back again, but hopefully we will be indoors. Thanks Heather for understanding our situation.
Food was good. Service was good. Too expensive though. Although the food was good it's just not worth the price tag though.
The food here is absolutely delicious. I can't wait to go back again!
I got the yellow curry omg so good!!
Always got the pineapple fried rice because it's so yummy, this time also ordered the mango chicken & it was even more delicious! Happiness in a dish! Super fast service by Karissa 👏
The location is wonderful and the seating makes for a great date night and the food is plates beautifully. Their staff is also very kind. This is more of a date night place rather than a bring the kids kind of place. However that's not to say they don't accommodate for the children that do come. The food is also splendid if you come by I recommend ordering the Mango chicken plate it has coconut rice and that rice is to die for it's so good. I also recommend pairing that coconut rice with their curries! It's a perfect blend of sweet and spicy
Too salty. We ordered 4 entrée, 2 appetizers and a cocktail. 4 entrées were all salty.
Chef's Choice Noodle Bar is sharp little bistro. Featuring Thai food and some other unusual menu items. Full array of appetizers from Vodka Chicken Wings and Shrimp Tempura to Chicken Gyoza and Fried Calamari. Definitely not just a noodle bar. My friend had the Thai Garlic Spaghetti with Shitake mushrooms, and I had the Panang Beef Curry. Server was average and the food was a bit pricey for the portions. The spaghetti was commented as "great" but the sundried tomatoes not so good. The Panang was good but not as good as some other Thai restaurants in Bakersfield. Desert was the Rockslide Brownie that had a great presentation. Patio dining on this great sunny day made for awesome ambiance, so the interior dining room was not visited. Nice full bar. Limited draught beers.
Food was fair, lack of sauce and veggies were hard. Overpriced...what's so great about this place?
A few weeks ago I visited this restaurant with my two college aged daughters. We had been told that this was very good Thai food, and because we love Thai food and are new to town we were excited to try it. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very upscale, it was very busy and there was a line to get in. Service was fine, nothing special but not bad. We ordered Thai teas, drunken noodle. Yellow curry chicken, and I think Chuchee seafood. We were not impressed with the food. It didn’t have depth of flavor, the seasoning was not good. For example, in the yellow curry all that could be tasted was turmeric. We didn’t eat half of our meals and didn’t bother to take the leftovers because we knew none of us would eat them. I’d be hesitant to try this restaurant again.
Fresh, clean, quality food. This place never disappoints. Excellent food and atmosphere! You won't regret this meal...
Everything was delicious. Wait staff was great. A little pricy but worth it for a nice night out.
We kind a excited to eat here . We got here 10 min early and waited till 11:30 on Sunday and 11:30 comes nobody open the door and we peeking through the window inside the lights not even on , means no one inside and we keep on calling thinking someone might pick up the phone. But no one is answering, so we end going to P.F Chang. This is how u loss customers And most people are going next door.
Working in the Marketplace and had to break for lunch so I wound up here. Nice little spot. Having had won ton soup a bazillion times, I wanted to see how good this was. The egg noodles were on point and good. A little too much whatever the green vegetable is, half would've been better. The bbq pork and won tons were not tasty at all in my opinion. Mine are WAY better. Heather was my server and she was wonderful. She made sure to refill my beverage and was prompt and polite.
You know I used to consider this restaurant to be the best in town but ever since they moved to a new location the food went downhill. My favorite dish was the orange chicken and rice but I recently placed an order at the new location and the flavor was not what it used to be. The orange chicken was dry and tasted like it was reheated in the microwave and the rice was too salty and dry! Not only was the food bad but it was overpriced. I'm only going to give 2 stars because the Thai tea is still good.
Generous portions outdoor seating (although it's summer and sweltering) helpful staff and delicious dishes. Not as spicy as I hoped but I didn't ask for it specifically
