This place is situated in the woods a few miles west of University of Alaska Fairbanks. A beautiful drive to get there. The food tastes great. The quantity is satisfying. Most amazingly is the price with the food you get in interior Alaska. Pad Thai was ok. Every entree comes with a spring roll except the curry. I think they would benefit from some NEW menu postings.
Lovely location, open sign is visible from the road. Simply drive or walk up to the window facing the road to place your order. Chef will let you know when your food is ready.
Fantastic portion size. Great price points. Food was very hot & made to order within minutes! Fantastic experience!
I don’t know if we caught it on a bad day or what happened but we ordered 3 things and were disappointed in all three. First off the drunken noodles were very sad and didn’t even have onions, the red curry was only chicken and zucchini, and the tom yum lacked any tomatoes (I’ll admit my bias here, as they are one of my favorite parts). Furthermore, I got a hair either in the fried egg rolls or the dipping sauce. Very nice man operating the hut but that was about the only positive.
We had Pad Thai and Red Curry, both were very good but on the sweet side and not spicy. I normally would prefer spicy and not sweet, but it really hit the spot. The portions are huge which is really nice. I think each dish could feed two people. There is a new menu and a new phone number.
Only had a few nights in Fairbanks but came back multiple times - delicious food, generous portions and extremely authentic Thai food. Definitely recommend!
Huge portions and delicious food. it's probably best to call your order in beforehand, as it's just one guy in there doing everything himself (or was when I went)
I wanted to take a drive through the snow, and remembered that there was a Thai drive thru place that I had wanted to try, out on Sheep Creek Road. I ordered the Drunken Noodle with pork, and asked, “can you make it spicy?” I also ordered a yummy humongous Thai iced tea. I almost got the Massaman curry, as it might be my favorite curry. Will need to come back and try it. Exceptionally kind service, made to order food. Fast forward to me becoming more and more obsessed with the flavors, each and every bite. Big thick pieces of meat, grilled veggies cooked to perfection, yummy huge noodles and then the flavors! Oh wow! I am so looking forward to returning! It was the best drunken noodles I have had in Fairbanks. Fantastico!
This place has new owners and the menu is extremely limited and it’s no longer the same quality. We ate here last night and it was not eatable.

Vibes, taste, price point, all 10/10. Love this place
Big portions, great food!

To me, Sam's Thai is absolutely the finest of the what, hundred Thai restaurants in fairbanks? Maybe it's the proximity for me living atop Ester Dome knowing that if I don't want to make dinner at home, I can just take the short ride down and pick up any of the 3 curry options which I wholeheartedly recommend. Although do ask for extra rice, you'll need it
Great food, large portions, and great prices!!!
This is one of the special yummy spots in Fairbanks that you shouldn't miss.
Matsuma chicken, delicious!
Fresh spring rolls are amazingly perfect.
Take out only.
I love these guys! They’re amazing fast and always a joy at the end of a long work day.
The panang curry was supper good and at an affordable rate. Would highly recommend
Great food, great prices, great people. We come here as often as we can. Very worth it.
Sams is amazing! It's conveniently located at the bottom of ester dome, perfect for my family of 5 and my picky eating toddler.
We got the curry. It was a large portion (4 cups) and very tasty. There was so much chicken in it! Lao is so gracious, kind, and a great cook. The Thai tea hit the spot too. Highly recommend.

Stopped for the first time last night after running errands in town, delicious food and large portion!
Ate too much and ended up in a food coma for the rest of the evening but worth it.
This place was so amazing we wished there was a 6th star review option.
Amazing food and great service! We love Sam's Thai, it's a special treat. Our favorites sre the curries and the pads.
The Thai teas are delicious and the springs rolls are wonderful!
Sam has a good thing going. The spring rolls were great. My green curry was a little different, but ok
Best Pad Thai I have ever had the pleasure of eating. This place seriously has quality food in mind. Fun drive too!
My last day in Fb and I wanted to just stay in my bnb most of the day. This place which was a mile away from me made that experience even better. A nice cozy cabin and good Thai food. What more do you want? Get the drunken noodles. Its awesome. Im not into sweets much anymore but even the Green tea was amazing! Nice stop by for food if u ever going up or down the mountain.
Absolutely delicious drunken noodles! Would definitely come back here again. The spring roll as a side was a nice touch that I wasn’t expecting
I love this place. Consistently good food. Its only a few minutes away from my house. My family has been going here for years
Sam’s Thai is great! They have large portions (same as all other Thai restaurants in Fairbanks) except about half the price! The food tastes just as authentic if not better! I highly recommend.
I always order the Tom Kha chicken soup. Anywhere else in town will cost you $20, Sam’s is $13, same amount (rice included) and excellent fresh ingredients.

Some of the best in town, or out of it. Keep making great food Sam!
Great
Very generous portions and delicious!
Always fast, and genuinely some of the best thai in town. I love coming here with friends and eating it at a park or just in the car! He gives massive portions and the prices are so low compared to other places around town. Cannot recommend Sam's thai enough!
Best Thai food in Fairbanks, possibly the nation. Great big portions with tall thai tea drinks, never disappoints.
Sam’s has been my favorite Thai restaurant in Fairbanks for years, even through the change of ownership. The food and service are consistently amazing, and the quantities are generous. He actually gives enough rice for the entire meal, at no extra charge. And Lao always greets with a smile.
Best Thai in Fairbanks area!! Pad himmapan is my favorite
Really becoming one of our absolute must go to places in fairbanks. Very nice guy, and a beautiful view of the goldstream valley while you wait. Excellent Thai iced tea, nice drunken noodles, fresh and crunchy broccoli and vegetables, and a smile every time I go! I highly recommend it.
Great little food stand for goldstream. It's always hot and usually prepared quickly. Sam is always there to greet you with a smile.
great pad thai

Always fresh and very very very yummy. Sam is awesome! We will go there over any of the restaurants in town. I'm not allowed to mention it without getting something.
Enjoyed the visit
My expectations might have been too high because so many people have talked it up so much, but the noodles were definitely over cooked. It's ok and if someone asked me to get food here with them I wouldn't say no, but I'm not going to choose this place again myself.
One of the best Thai food restaurants I have visited in the US. The fried egg roll is delicious. Only have to-go option but there are nearby benches.
Updated after moving to Fairbanks for one year: valuewise the best Thai restaurant in (or near?) the town. Not comparing other dishes but their pad thai is definitely the best.
Had the yellow chicken curry, it was very runny but had good flavor. Was given a very large portion of rice too.
Wanted to try somewhere new for my birthday and saw that this place had a lot of 5 star reviews. So, even though it's across town for me I figured it would be worth it to try somewhere new.
I called ahead to give my order, when we got there our order seemed to have been lost or something. Not a huge deal, I wasn't in a hurry. It wasn't a long wait before we got our food.
We got chicken Pad Thai and chicken fried rice with an order of egg rolls. The Pad Thai was solid, not my favorite, be still good. The fried rice was lacking and left me resorting to adding some condiments of my own when we got home. But those egg rolls! You get an egg roll with each entrée (which I didn't realize when ordering since this isn't a usual addition when ordering from huts). The egg rolls were yummy and the sweet sauce that comes with is delicious. I was very glad we had extras.
I'm sure I'll go back and try some other entrées, if nothing else but to get those egg rolls.
Himmaparn and fresh rolls are specially good. Quick and convenient.
Best thai food! My favorites are the veggie green curry and the drunken noodle- of course I haven't tried most of the dishes because i tend to get my favorites. The veggies are not overcooked and have good variety. The sauces are rich in flavor and the portion is big enough for 2. Orders are ready very quickly.
One of my favorite places to get Thai food to go ❤ everything is always delicious and big enough servings some dishes could be split into 2 meals.
I get take out from here at least once a month. Good prices, super friendly staff and the service is fast. I wish it was closer to town so that more people knew about this place!
Sam’s is the best thai food in Alaska, HANDS DOWN. Absolutely the best. Plus he is so so kind and generous, and always gives you a ton of food. He’s very fast even when you don’t call ahead to order. Absolutely my favorite, could never be replaced.
Sam's Thai is Fairbanks' best kept secret. Excellent and high quality "food truck" style Thai food tucked in on the edge of Goldstream Valley. Friendly service, and every dish I've had is a winner. Love it!
I would die for the food, as well as the family who runs it. High quality Thai food, wonderful service. I cannot overstate how much I love this place. They set the standard for Thai food in Fairbanks Alaska. Will never stop eating their food.
Sam is the nicest chef in town! The spring rolls and pad thai are amazing!
The best place ever he a nice guy and seems just to be him, he sometimes gives out candy and a can of soda, some reviews say its prices but he gives you a lot, its fast and good i try to goto there when ever I can, before it was just the shack, now theres a trailer house I think that's great and business is doing good
Dumplings and all the snacks
Some of the best Thai food I’ve had. Great little spot!
Loved the egg wrapped in potato
Very friendly gentleman serving good food to the locals for a good price. What more can you ask for. Highly recommended!
Great drive-in takeaway Thai food. Quick and very well done. Nice to stop on your way home if you live out here or worth the trip out to the Goldstream Valley.
Consistent, great flavor. Service is always fast.
This is a take away place only
Always stop here for my Thai Tea
Good food but high prices
Excellent Thai Cuisine
Best Pra Ram in town! I love how close it is to where I live.
Authentic but whatever I ordered I shouldn't order again..holy ginger baby.. I just hate ginger in general. But the crab rangoons were good and the rice with the veggies sauce spilt into it was on point. Plus it's super convenient. On my was home! Stop by if you are in the mood for some tasty thai food-you'll be happy you did!
Sam is very friendly! His food is delicious and affordable. It is worth the drive!!
Great food. The outside tables are nice with great scenery. Home made drunken noodles are soectacular.
Great pad see ew! Yummy noodles and beef. Go, Sam's Thai!
Many Thai food places around Fairbanks. Many with slightly different flavors. This one is off the beaten path a bit in goldstream valley off sheep ck Eat here fairly often.
Good food, good price, not a long wait.
Noodles a little o at cooked but the flavors make up for it.
So good! Always delicious food and great service. Tons of food for the price, too. I'm stuffed after eating a full portion of the amazing curry, and that's saying a lot because I ate 50 hard- boiled eggs once.
Good food, good prices, very nice gentleman
Very tasty, generous portions, friendly service.
Really good Panang with generous portions. Odd location, but definitely worth it.
The food is great, service as well.
Pretty good food and friendly convienent for those living in goldstream valley
The food is fantasic!! Best in town by far!! You gotta try, if you like thai, it's amazing!! The owner "Sam" is great!!
Every time I have gone to Sam's, my order has been correct and delicious. The owner and chef is very considerate of vegan/vegetarian needs and the food is actually spicy when you ask for spicy (unlike some other restaurants around Fairbanks). Very good service and very convenient. Love this place.
Even if you're not in the area, this place is worth the drive. 100% deliciousness
Best Thai in Fairbanks! Drunken noodles are awesome and made with homemade noodles, and the stir fry eggplant is also fantastic.
Fantastic Thai food.
Consistantly amazing !
Awesome and worth the drive
Good food and the owner is very kind.
Wonderful Tom Kha! Good portions and preparations, one of the best Thai options in Fairbanks.
A small cute drive by place near the entrance to ester dome road. We just had the fresh rolls with some extra peanut sauce. The rolls themselves were nice and the peanut sauce was very good. Love the place just for its location and appearance
This little shack was out of town on our way to our cabin in Fairbanks. My husband and I would see it pack with cars on our drive home so we decided to give it a try. Keep in mind this is Fairbanks and it was in a shack almost out of the middle of nowhere. My expectations were not very high. I was pleasantly surprise. The food is made after you ordered so it was fresh, and smelled delicious on our drive home. The Pad Thai was not the standards I used to, but decent. I should I mentioned I lived in Orange County, San Francisco, Seattle, Dallas, etc so my standards for Asian food is high. The Bla-King was great though. It was bread pan-fried fish with vegetables, mushroom, and the sauce was yummy. My loved husband loved the fried banana they gave us for free.
The draw back was that it was take-out only. The price is pretty reasonable, and comparable to most cities I have been to. The owner is from Thailand and his adopted Caucasian son was super friendly and nice. I would have talked to them longer except I was standing outside in -26F weather. Definitely will go back again. Thank you.
Fabulous and personable service. A real treat out here in goldstream....go introduce yourself and enjoy!
