Gratuity of 18% added. as large groups usually expect. the server appeared to be overwhelmed! Yume needs to own this disaster and return to the service of just a year ago!

I ordered the chicken basil at a level 3 spicy. That had absolutely no spiciness to it. It has had pretty much no flavor. Could not taste the basil at all.

I will give them credit for the unagi. It was delicious. I think if I would have just got sushi the score would have been higher.

We have been looking for a great hibachi, we found it!!! The food was very delicious, we have found in the past that the food on hibachi is all seasoned the same. This was different, very well seasoned and the cook, Ronnie, was very nice, funny, and entertaining!!! Loved our waitress, Jennifer, very polite, prompt, and just all round great!!! We will be back! I suggest if y’all haven’t been here, get here!!!❤️

The best Japanese restaurant in town! Hands down! They even have mustard sauce for all you true Japanese food fans. It was replaced at most restaurants with the yuck yuck sauce, ( yum yum ) for most of you. The mustard sauce is essential for good Japanese rice, and separates it from Chinese rice significantly in taste!
Anyways check them out, Pete is the best cook as well who has been there a long time. He a Good christian man!

Food was notttttt as expected not good could be a lot better the teriyaki sauce a hot mess like jello did not like it at all

We went there to celebrate a birthday. The waitress and young men on the hibachi grill were excellent. Very good atmosphere and excellent customer service.

They don't seem very vegetarian friendly, like kid's menu doesnt have vegetable hibachi. They use the same spatula on raw meat as to cook the vegetables and noodles. Worried about getting food poisoning. They need to use different spatulas on sides or at l
east when serving the noodles and such. I could hardly eat a bite. The noodles were also super salty, it was pretty inedible. The staff was nice though

My wife and I spent 65.00 for pud thai and squid hibachi plate plus jalapeno poppers today.Food was bland no seasoning at all use to be a great restaraunt we are never returning here.There sweet tea was awesome that was the only thing we should had paid for dont waste hour money or time I swear these statements I jave made are 100 percent accurate !

Sushi is fresh and very good !
Ask for topping recommendation if your not sure (they know what's best)
Sit at the bar and watch an artisan prepare your delite, and wash it down with a glass (or 3) of sake.
This is a tasty dinner experience !

Dont like the food.

We had 2 large groups and we even went early and the food was not good. The chicken was hard and not edible. The sushi was grocery store quality at best. No real crab in the volcano sushi rolls just a lump of artificial crab. Very disappointing!!! Service was awesome and the atmosphere was relaxing.

Highly disappointed , it's been a while since we have been but I always get the same thing , ginger salad , volcano roll and a California roll , the cali roll and salad where good to go but the volcano roll was terrible , it was drowned in wel sauce and there's was no spice , I ate a couple pieces and then requested my money back and the manager said I had eaten some pieces so he couldn't refund my money which got me to thinking they reuse their food that's not eaten which is disgusting, I won't be going back

Yume has some of the best sushi in the Oxford area! We stop in for sushi anytime we get the chance. Don't pass up the opportunity to give them a try, you won't regret it!

I love Yume, it is my family's favorite Japanese restaurant. The food is exceptional and the hibachi experience is a always a good time. My favorite part of Yume is the atmosphere and how very clean and well kept the restaurant is, it's over all very comfortable and relaxing to be there.

My boyfriend and I go to Yume at least once a week and each experience is phenomenal. Great food and great service.

Very entertaining. Great food amd lots of it!

Food was delicious walked in at lunch and was sat almost immediately. The cook was super attentive and interactive with the kids in the group. The only "bad" thing I could say was we'd had wished the waitress was a little more attentive and kept our drinks full and the salad and soup bowls picked up. Table got a little crowded with bowls and such .

All and all a great meal

This is my favorite Japanese restaurant in the area. Food is always delicious. Atmosphere is clean and inviting. You want be disappointed having chosen to eat here.

Food was bland and oversalted. Perhaps better at the shishi bar or table show. But for the regular crowd, nothin special. Service was below par and as we all know the minimums for your server to say and do. Overpriced for the regular table experience. Sorry, i hoped for more.

We like to eat here when we are in town. Some servers are more entertaining than others, but normally, the less entertaining ones make the better food since they are more focused on the food. This is for the habtchi area, by the way. And they have the BEST yum yum sauce... I think we mostly go for the yum yum sauce 😋

Some of the best food I've had! The Hibachi chefs are all wonderful. They put on the fun display of skills while preparing your food, toss rice balls for you to catch with your mouth and still never miss the mark on your order. Steak so tender and juicy. Chicken, is the same, not dried out. The rice sweet and buttery, cooked mostly to a tender-crisp with some crunchy grains in there. It is a little on the pricier side, but you get what you pay for.

The food was completely overcooked. It took a very long time for the entire meal to be finished. When asked to cook the shrimp less, they told us to just take the shrimp OFF of our plate, and they would take it off the ticket. The family sitting across from us was very displeased also.

Have ate here numerous times and have never had an issue. But today was awful. How can the management have two servers, serve the whole hibachi area. The servers were extremely overwhelmed. When we got sat we were sat with a party you could tell had already been there awhile as they had already ate there soup and salad. We just got handed ours and our appetizer when they came out to start preparing the meal. My daughter's salad was hardly touched and the server tried to remove it and I had to ask her to put it back as she wasn't done with it. We ran out of drinks. I had ordered water with lemons my family ordered tea with lemon. She forgot the lemon. No big deal but she might not have been running around and forgetting things if she had help. We were trying to pack our food up and the bus guy was removing our plates and glasses before we even had moved. She was given three massive parties back to back so I could understand why she had to basically had to throw some take out boxes and run. I had to ask her to come back for bowls so I could take our soup and salad home with us since we didn't have a chance to eat it. Poor management. The front was empty. The ppl up there should have been in the back giving assistance. Might try the new Blue Fin.

Gives off an all you can eat buffet vibe when you walk in. My family did not do hibachi. Good amount of Thai and Japanese foods. Not so much Chinese. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. We had curry dishes (several curry options: green, red, yellow & 2 more) and Pad Kee Mao. You can ask for a 1 through 5 for spicy for all dishes. Our food was very good, but even a 2 was a bit too spicy for me. And I like a little spice. Shrimp crunch roll was very good.

We love eating here but they started giving only a little bit of noodles with hibachi meals. I love fried rice but my family prefer noodles, they still eat rice though, but aren’t happy with the amount of noodles being served.

Foods great, server tips them selves though even after writing a specified amount… other then that I would’ve given a 4 star it got 3 because of the food .

We enjoyed our experience at Yume! The food was good and so was the service! We'd go back again.

I’m assuming this is under new ownership. We went in earlier this week and ordered filet and shrimp for lunch. Our steaks were spoiled. So spoiled that my daughter started gagging when the food hit her plate. Of course, we each lost our appetite and didn’t want to continue eating. I didn’t want to make a scene so I told the chef our steak was spoiled and he looked at me funny and went to the back and came out with fresh steaks. He was very nice but we just didn’t feel like eating any of our food after that. We packed our rice up to go but when we opened it at home, you could still smell spoiled meat where it had touched the other food. It was that bad! I figured we would have gotten a discounted meal at least. I have never had anything like that happen but we will not be returning. I don’t understand how someone couldn’t have smelled the meat while it was in the cooler. The smell was really THAT strong!

I must’ve came on a bad night based on these other reviews. Still stands though, I couldn’t even force myself eat this trash

One of best Japanese restaurants I've been to ,the hibachi grill was great

Not happy with the experience tonight. They must be under new ownership. Our waiter was Middle Easter Indian and spoke bad English. Volcano roll didn't come until the hibachi was almost done and the the crab meat on top stunk as it passed by my face.
Ihad to cance that order. The stir fry vegetables were swimming for their life in my plate. It's not you authentic Japanese Stake House anymore. So sad, I used to love this place.

I absolutely love their Sushi! Alabama Roll, minus the cucumber add cream cheese.
We always try to sit at the bar, and the Sushi guys are always friendly and helped us get what we needed when the waitress wasn't to be found, that happens a lot.
I keep going back for the delicious Sushi.

Went with my friend. I ordered gyoza, miso soup, and the delicato roll. It was delic, our writer was sweet and attentive.

The food is pretty good, I can't really comment on the sushi I went there for the Thai. I have tried three of the Thai dishes and all were good. The problem has to do with the cleanliness, my table was disgusting. It's really a shame. I asked to be moved to another table which they did and were apologetic, but then they sat another customer at that same table and never cleaned it. The salt and pepper shakers, and soy sauce bottles were thick with grime, looked like they have never been cleaned. I post this in the hopes that the owners will take notice and make changes.

There was way more food than we could eat. The cut of meat could have been better. The show could have had more tricks in it. What show you ask they cook in front of you and do a little show with it. Overall service and flavor were very good. These 2 were my complaint of the place. However, they were very good.

Honestly, not great. I had higher expectations based on reviews. Spicy coconut soup was not spicy and very salty. I considered sending it back but I ate some of it anyway cuz that's what I do. Sushi was meh, not horrible I guess. Maybe Oxford, AL is not where I should expect this type of food to be excellent...sadly, wish I had gone to one of the dozens of chain restaurants in the area. Sigh.

Recently visited here twice. Dine in on both. While the service and ambiance is perfect, the food was horrible both times, it was cold, and bland. The rice tasted old.

I like the place....definitely like the rolls more than I do the hibachi. The hibachi and the fried rice and veggies that come with it all just taste bland and at best brown....however you explain that lol. Yum yum sauce doesn't taste like much either. The rolls however. That's what makes me a return customer. The rolls...the soup and the ginger salad dressing. Had a bento box the other day and it has been my absolute favorite!

I’m a server myself and I don’t typically get annoyed while at restaurants, but we saw our waitress 3 times total. To get drink orders, take our order (we asked for an extra minute to look at menus, not even a minute later she was back at table in a hurry trying to take order). Refills were wrong drinks but another server brought them so can’t really complain about that since she didn’t know what we had to begin with. The fried rice smelled and tasted weird as well. Too bad Fuji was closed for renovations

The experience was amazing!! The food was pure perfection!! The only issue I had, was that told our server at least twice!! We have a food allergy issue in our party. One of us is allergic to onions! So, ok!!! The cook does the little stack with fire and proceeds to cut up the onion and mix it up with all the vegetables!! So my party won't have any and the father and son, across the way from us, won't have any vegetables either!! Same thing, food allergies!!! The sushi was amazing!! Got both deep fried and the Oxford roll!! Very tasty experience!! I'll be back in September for my granddaughter's birthday 🎂🥳🎉🎈!!! Besides all that, THE FOOD WAS AMAZING!!!

Owners will make their servers pay out of their OWN pockets if something is wrong. I’m a pescatarian, the soup that normally comes with the hibachi combo does not follow my diet. I asked it to be swapped to a miso soup (something I had done many times before here) and when the final bill came I was charged for an additional bowl of soup. Talked to the manager (one of the owners) and they said they would take it off. Our server came back in near tears because they were forcing them to pay for it. I obviously tipped them well, but this is NOT the way to do business. If a soup is the same price, why not allow substitutions? The way they treat their customers and employees is just unacceptable.

We visited Oxford and we normally get sushi at the place across the street which was unfortunately closed for renovations.
We decided to try YUME on Saturday afternoon. Upon arrival, they looked very busy and understaffed. We waited for several minutes to be greeted and seated. There was no hostess.
We opted to sit at the bar. As I suspected, they were understaffed for the amount of guests. Our waitress was very nice and tried to be attentive despiite being spread to thin. We ordered three sushi rolls and entrees. My wife ordered Thai Beef Basil and I ordered the chicken fried rice. The sushi was great however we only got two of the three rolls. My wife said her entree was good however I was totally under-whelmed by the chicken dish. Basically it was rice and chicken. No veggies - little flavor - servered with a side of "yum-yum" sauce. (yuck)
Overall, we would probably return but we'd stick to the sushi and skip the other items. Our server was very nice and none of the issues with the food were her fault and she tried to do her best despite trying to cover too many tables.

Way too expensive to be this bland and sad. 2/10.

The food was amazing! We had sushi and the hibachi lobster plate. The noodles were well seasoned, not overcooked, and did not taste like the other resteraunts (spaghetti noodles yuk). The lobster was so good! Did not have a fishy taste that you typically get at these restaurants. The sushi was very good as well. Highly recommend it!

The place to eat with about 8 people and have a great time. Kind, courteous, and entertaining staff. The kids loved watching the chef perform in front of us. A great place to eat and make family memories. The eel was superb, "Unagi Rolls."

Always a delightful experience here. The food is always delicious. The service is never great, but usually isn't bad. I plan accordingly and don't go when I am starving or with bad company.
