The outside of the restaurant and front entrance are not very inviting. It’s kind of dark and dingy inside and could really use some repairs. But if you can overlook it and just go there to grub out you’ll be glad you did!

This is a hidden gem in Opelika. Always fast, friendly, and tasty! If you blink you will miss it on such a busy parkway. They have the best sushi, hibachi, and Asian fusion food around if you ask me. This place is clean and the staff is courteous and attentive. The food is top notch!

The service and the sushi were pretty good. I had two of their special/signature rolls. I went during lunch on Monday, so they were half off. It was definitely a good value. I'd visit them again whenever I'm in town.

Mon and Wed they have 1/2 price sushi and they are currently closed on Tuesdays. Good food every time we come and great prices on Mon and Wed. It's our kids & grandsons favorite place to eat.

We had a great experience at Wasabi - was much better than I expected. We just moved here from ATL and a friend told us about it. We took the kids, but set rather low expectations for a 'sushi place by the interstate' in a city the size of Opelika. We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality, prices and staff/service!! We ordered a bunch of rolls and everyone REALLY enjoyed them! The fish was fresh, the sushi was prepared well, and the house spiced edamame was a new concept for us - A MUST!! We will definitely go back!

Wasabi Japanese Sushi & Thai Cuisine is now one of my new favorite stops! As a Commercial Truck Driver, it's an Excellent change from the typical trucker's menu one normally has to choose from. Conveniently located across the street from the Shell Truck Stop I-85 Exit 62, Ipelika, AL.
They have a wide variety of fresh sushi and sashimi menu items that are expertly and perfectly prepared. The Shrimp Salad with Ginger Dressing is also great.
If you enjoy a taste for Japanese style fresh sushi, this is the perfect place to dine.

Good all-around Asian place! I enjoyed having a sushi appetizer with my Thai curry! They had an abundance of items and cuisines to choose from (the only thing they didn't have was Phở). All items were very fresh and well presented.

We've never sat down and ate here but have ordered and picked food up several times. They have great sushi and some delicious chicken fried rice. Honestly, we haven't had anything from here that wasn't great.

Food is amazing! Sushi is outstanding and the main reason I return, however I haven't had any entree that was not good! The servers and/or hostess are rather bland, not too much enthusiasm. This particular restaurant the food brings me back.

Hands down worst fast food I've had in 35 years. It was right before closing so that prob had alot to do with it. Staff was friendly but food was trash not a good mothersday experience but we laughed it off paid bill generous tip and went to burger King.

The staff of the Red Roof Plus highly recommended this place. The Sashimi was excellent, my salad was fresh and tasty and the service was great despite of being a busy night, however the facility is in need of a renovation.
The area is booming with many options, if they don’t update and modernize the restaurant, they will be out of business soon. I will be back, hopefully they renovate it. ✅🤙

Food is decent, but service is terrible. It's a hit or miss. Some nights it is good service, some nights it is terrible service. Depends on what mood the waiters are in. Waiters are lazy and do not check on you, not to mention the restaurant is never packed or busy, so they have plenty of opt opportunities to refill drinks and check on guests. However, you have to flag them down and even that is difficult. It takes over an hour to get food. Go at your own risk.

Another favorite restaurant. I love basil and this is rare in most restaurants in the general area. Pad basil was perfect as well as the service and atmosphere

Always our favorite place for Fri night takeout! My husband gets either sushi or yaki udon stir fry, extra spicy, which he races about. I usually either get steak pineapple fried rice or steak hibachi, which are both delicious! One of these days, I'll have to try something else, I guess, but why mess with perfection?

Sushi was fresh and delicious. Their hibachi chicken lunch was so good. The sauce used was just a bit sweet which I liked but was also different than I’ve had before. Highly recommend.

There is really nothing positive to say here. The sushi was gross and I’ve actually had better grocery store sushi. My husband got a hibachi plate and said the rice was hard, the vegetables were over cooked, the shrimp was chewy. There was only one other couple in the restaurant at 12:30, yet service was basically non-existent. There was a young girl flirting with a guy who came in, a male server, a lady sitting at the counter that looked like she might be the owner or the manager and whoever was making sushi, but no one seemed to care about the customers or even work itself. No one asked how our food was and no one checked on us. The only reason I give two stars is because the limited interaction with the staff was friendly enough. Service was a 1, food was a 0. No, I am forced to change this from two stars to one. Don’t waste your money. 🤢

Food was great. Could use a good deep clean the window seals were filthy from a long time ago. And getting refills must be non customary. We had to ask for the one we did get and that was the last time we seen our waitress till check time. I tip solely on waiter or waitress performance. So if you're mad about the tip know I was mad about the service. Our waitress last night got 13$ and so could you had you focused on the job. (Ps like three other tables so not super busy)

We went tonight for sushi, but have been getting takeout from this restaurant every weekend since we moved to Opelika 4 years ago. Everything we've had from Wasabi has been very, very good, whether it's pad Thai, hibachi, fried rice dishes (my favorite is pineapple!), or sushi. They make a point to remember return customers and they really take good care of us every time we go there, whether for sushi there or takeout.

Oh my gosh, I can't believe this place has been here for years and I haven't tried it before. We got a few different sushi rolls to try along with some hibachi and pad Thai. Every single menu item was scrumptious. I'm adding this to my list of regular places to eat in Opelika now. Highly recommend

The staff was more than accommodating and kind. The food was equal to or exceeded their service to my wife and I. We were having such a great time enjoying the food and all that we failed to notice that all the other customers were leaving. It was just passed closing but; the staff had not given any indication that it was time for them to close. We will make this establishment our date night go to place. Small family and romantic setting a breath of elegance.

Let me start off by saying I've been a loyal customer of this restaurant for 5+ years. In the past I'd even eat here multiple times in one week. That to say, the past 2 times I've been here I've been utterly disappointed and after this evening's dine in, I will not be returning. Last time it was the overall service, unattended empty drinks with several requests for refills, and our waiter not writing down our order only to come back a few minutes later to verify what they'd forgotten. These were minor inconveniences, but could easily be avoided with average care and consideration for your customer. Tonight my girlfriend and I decided to give this place another shot. Let me preface this with that I'm well aware Monday-Wednesdays are their half price sushi nights, it's a great deal and one I've catered to many times in the past. Tonight was different because as we were sat we promptly ordered our drinks and entree order knowing it may take a little while. This is where the initial trouble was; we waited over an hour wait for food and that's unjustifiable in my book. We waited approximately an hour and ten minutes until our food arrived. And it wasn't even our full order. The other half of our order (both from the sushi bar) came in about 7 minutes later. We addressed these concerns with our waiter, manager, and lastly the (presumed) restaurant owner who is very familiar with me.I presented my case and stated how I felt that we should be compensated for the long wait whether it be a free appetizer or price reduction in the final bill. Initially the waiter replied. "I don't know what to do" and minutes later the manager replied with "I'll see what I can do". These requests were then presented to the owner and were quickly deferred because I, "should know how busy we are on half priced sushi nights" and "everybody waits just as long". Call me the fool if I'm the only one finding it unreasonable to wait this long for sushi. The way she addressed the situation was uncalled for too -- raising her voice at me disturbing nearby tables and addressing the fact that we were lucky enough to have even scored a table and not wait tonight. There was no compensation. Not even a sincere apology concluding the conversation. It's strictly business here, folks. How is this good customer service? I'm saddened to say I will not be returning and am disappointed to have been treated in such a way especially after being such a long time customer.

Arrived at 5:35 on a half price sushi night, put in our drink order and food order at the same time, waited an hour and 10 min before our food came (not even the whole order). My boyfriend has been a loyal customer for years, and even the owner knowing that, said she was sorry and that she couldn’t do anything. The owner also made a scene of talking to us for all other customers to see. Not treating your customers well, especially loyal ones, does not keep customers coming back. That’s a shame!
