Classic Thai dishes & creative sushi rolls served in a simple, modern setting with booths.
Delicious food with very short wait times. Our lunches came with either a ginger salad or a soup, and we ordered purple sweet potato French fries as an appetizer. I was very happy with the quality of the fresh salad, and my daughter enjoyed her soup. The avocado and cashews paired well with Massaman chicken curry. The dining area was beautiful, clean, and quiet. Silverware was provided with chopsticks available on request. On the way out, we paused by the saltwater aquarium and found a small crab hiding in the anemones. Fun experience—I’d like to eat here again.
10/10 would recommend! Everything was so good. This was my first time having coconut soup and it was amazing! I hate I stay over 3 hours away because I'd eat here 3 nights a week. The staff was so friendly and it's so beautiful inside. To my restroom ppl they were very clean as well. I will definitely come back next time I visit!
Honestly, really surprised at just how good this restaurant was. I personally had the Pad See Ew (requested extra spicy and there was no issue!)
It also has a very cute interior, food is out quick, the staff is all very polite and efficient. Wonderful restaurant.
One of our new favorite spots in Birmingham, hands down.
We have have so many good experiences at Nori in Hoover. The staff there is wonderful! The hibachi chefs are very entertaining and great with children! The food has been great every time! Hubby loves the ramen bowls and I have enjoyed the filet/shrimp hibachi and sushi. Please go visit! You won’t be disappointed! 🍣 🍱 OH - and they do GREAT bday celebrations!!
Visiting my family that has lived here for multiple decades, I am kicking myself for not finding this spot sooner. The Masaman Curry that I had was perfectly balanced, fresh and flavorful. The portion could feed me for 3 meals over and the presentation was beautiful. We also enjoyed the Seafood Dynamite and were so surprised and entertained by the flaming presentation! Everything we ordered was top notch. Post pandemic dining quality has lowered my
expectations for service and quality but Nori is raising the bar again. We will absolutely be back. Thank you Yudha for your thoughtful recommendations, surprise fried cheesecake and a wonderful memories and dining experience!
I found a great spot for Thai food and sushi. I was hesitant at first, not usually a fan of combined food types. But, they did well with both the Thai and the sushi.
I love some nigiri and sashimi. I got to orders of the otoro, fatty tuna. This is like the wagyu of fish for me. It has nice marbling and an almost buttery flavor. So delicious. It was fresh and very tasty.
I also had the Thai curry with duck. It was very tasty. I eat a lot of Thai food. And I have spent a lot of time in Thailand. I would say this is about four out of five on the authenticity. That’s really good for Alabama. The flavors were well balanced. And, for me, the heat was just right. Had a nice kick to it. I also had a cup of coconut soup. It was really good. The flavors were perfect for me
The people are just really friendly here. I have found in my travels that south Asian people are very accommodating and friendly. They make for very good servers.
We stopped in for lunch in the middle of doing some basement clearing, because the smell was so tempting while we dropped off some donations next door at Goodwill. We were not disappointed. We ordered a stuffed jalapeño starter which was delicious. Not super spicy (I would have enjoyed a bit more kick, but understand the restraint) which was beautiful and full of flavor. I ordered the Nori Catfish because I really like a similar dish from Surin West. Well, the Nori dish is far better. Incredible ginger soy flavor on perfectly cooked chunks of catfish. My ginger salad was the best ginger salad I've ever had. It had spinach and carrots and other flavorful greens which were perfectly complimented by the tasty ginger dressing. My wife had the sushi lunch special with Super Crunch and spicy tuna rolls, served with the coconut soup. The sushi was good, but not amazing. The coconut soup was excellent, on par with Surin's. There was only one little cube of tofu, but that's forgivable. Our servers were efficient and attentive. The restaurant is much nicer inside than out, with a large bar and nice decor. Lunch prices were decent, especially for the high quality of the food and high end dining experience. For Asian-inspired food, I'd put Nori in the same class as Umami, Surin or EastWest. We will definitely return.
We had a wonderful dinner at Nori last night, and the service was truly outstanding. Our waiter Kris was incredibly friendly and attentive. His recommendations were perfect and delicious, and they made us feel so welcome. I was particularly impressed with their attention to detail and their genuine hospitality. The food here is gourmet. We will definitely be back! Highly recommended! This restaurant is impeccable clean.
Came here for Valentine’s and had to wait like 30 min to get a table but don’t regret the wait. Food was phenomenal, we had sushi and it was fresh and delicious!
Coconut soup and masaman chicken is delicious!
Very good, pretty authentic Thai cuisine. Staff was polite and helpful, food was very good. Price point seemed reasonable as well.
Will visit again
This place is a gem. It was our first visit, and the food was amazing, and the service was top-notch.
I normally order sushi from this amazing restaurant but I just had THE BEST Cashew Nut Chicken. Wow!! I could drink the sauce!
Even though I went there on a Saturday night, the service was very fast. But more than that the food was delicious! I had the curry and the pad prick before that. Next time I'm going to get the hibachi, can't wait !

My family loves eating hibachi and sushi here. Everything tastes excellent and service is quick. The atmosphere is very nice on the interior. Plenty of parking and room for guests, but we have seen it very busy with a wait.

Sweet server who made some great recommendations. Came in with 3 kids under 6 and wasn’t sure how we would be received but they were welcomed and had fantastic food.
Honestly, really surprised at just how good this restaurant was. I personally had the Pad See Ew (requested extra spicy and there was no issue!)

One of our new favorite spots in Birmingham, hands down.
Nori is the best!
Very cute place! We had a great lunch. Service was also very good. Sushi roll was fresh and our curries were flavorful and delicious.
This restaurant is excellent. We always have great food and customer service.
I’ve tried a several Thai curries in both Huntsville and Birmingham, and this one is by far my favorite. The flavor is really good and if you ask for spicy, the spice level really hits. While I’ve tried a few curries here, the panang curry is my favorite. The green curry also has a good flavor. Though I do normally like masaman curry, it is not my favorite here, as the consistency is a little too thick. The service is usually pretty good here. I have yet to try the sushi as I drive an hour specifically for this curry, but they have a wide variety.
My fiancé and I came to Nori for date night and it did not disappoint!! We live close by and for some reason had never tried Nori before, but we finally decided to go. We shared spring rolls, I got a California roll, and we both got chicken fried rice. It was absolutely delicious!! The spring rolls were fresh and crispy, the sushi was perfectly balanced and flavorful, and the chicken fried rice, to my delight, was just like the rice I get at hibachi restaurants, which is my absolute favorite. Our waiter, Yudah, was so kind, and even gave us a free dessert to celebrate our first time visiting! Super nice atmosphere, great food, and great service - Nori is worth my five stars!!
Everything was excellent, best sushi I may have had in my life, if not very close.
Great overall, good flavors and range of foods. Pretty varied Asian assortment, not so much fusion as different country cuisines throughout the menu.
Service was excellent.
Visiting my family that has lived here for multiple decades, I am kicking myself for not finding this spot sooner. The Masaman Curry that I had was perfectly balanced, fresh and flavorful. Went here for dinner. We were greeted and seated by a nice guy but our waiter was alright in service. Not many vegan options clearly listed. I got the Gado Gado Salad, Vegetable Roll, and Panang Curry. I asked if the Purple Sweet Potato Fries were vegan and our waiter said they come in premade so they were not vegan. I'm always skeptical of Asian restaurants because they usually do not know what Vegan is and they usually use MSG, artificial flavors, colors/dyes, preservatives, and other low quality ingredients. I've been to previous Asian restaurants and when they say it is Vegan or MSG free, it is not because they do not know what that means. It would be nice if the menu was more organized for people with dietary restrictions like vegan, gluten free, etc. The atmosphere was alright.
Door Dash Delivery
Food was amazing and prices were reasonable. Got asked to get up from my table when my friend and I were done with our food and in the restaurant for less than an hour because “people were on a list and waiting.” I spoke with the hostess and our waiter (who kept coming up to the table making us feel like we were overstaying our time) and got asked to go outside so someone could have our table. Very dissatisfied as a paying costumer. My friend and I are usually very understanding with these things but this both rubbed us the wrong way. Very very disappointed.
The hibachi steak is excellent, as is the masaman curry.
Very nice sushi. Great atmosphere, perfect lighting, perfect service. I wish they had escolar, other than that it was amazing. Easily the best chirashi I've ever had.
Great Experience, Great Service, and Great Food.
Amazing place. A++ Gluten-free options galore
Nori is our go to Thai restaurant! We take out food from here every 1-2 weeks or more. Always consistent, fresh, and delicious. The staff is also so welcoming and accommodating. The best tasting Thai food in Birmingham, hands down for sure!
Updated/additions - With their new renovations, this is our favorite take out and sit down restaurant. We love the extremely fresh sushi options as well. The staff is also always so welcoming, kind and attentive. Cheers to Nori just getting better & better!
The sushi was descent, but the pad Thai and pot stickers were bland.
Food and environment really good ,our waitress was fantastic and so polite
A gem of an Asian restaurant. Outstanding Thai, Indonesian and Japanese food. After their expansion, it was jam packed.
5 stars are not enough for the amazingly authentic food. Great to see so many families.
Fresh sushi and very authentic Thai cuisine! Loved it.
Food was great. I ordered basil beef and Penang shrimp.
They'll make it spicy for you if you tell them to make your food thai hot.
Server was friendly!!!
This is one of our favorite Thai places in the greater Birmingham area. The staff are always so friends and nice. They have one of my favorite spicy noodles dishes around.
I recently dined at Nori Thai, and it was an incredible experience! We started with the Thai basil rolls, which were bursting with fresh, bold flavors. The fried rice was cooked to perfection, offering a savory, comforting dish that paired well with everything. We also tried two sushi rolls, the Godzilla and the Thai Lilly, and both were absolutely delicious! The Godzilla roll had the perfect combination of crunch and spice, while the Thai Lilly was delicate, fresh, and full of flavor. Every bite was better than the last. Nori Thai has truly mastered the art of Thai and sushi fusion. We will definitely be back!
Not sure about the speed of service, sushi comes out way before entrées
The service was immaculate. My server was attentive to all my needs and would even take care of them before I had to ask. I was very impressed by her manners and professionalism. The food was good, but seemed a bit pricier than that of other places in the same line of restaurant.
I found a great spot for Thai food and sushi. I was hesitant at first, not usually a fan of combined food types. But, they did well with both the Thai and the sushi.

Great food, good service, and nicely renovated.
Service is fast.... food ok, huge menu, maybe too big as the food is ok but nothing particularly great - at least what I've tried on several visits. But it is large and pleasant so almost never a wait.
Visit 9/22/2024
The food is always good and the servers are always friendly. In the recent times and respect for everyone's time, the best option is to order your food to go.
Visit 5/16/2021
Food to table service slower than normal during this visit. Friendliness of staff and food remains 5 stars. Affordable lunch menu between $9 - $12.
Extremally slow take out and ride cashier
Nice atmosphere and the food was quite good with fast service. This was our first time there, and it was larger than appeared from outside, a nice bar, and many tables. There was a good sized crowd, which usually is an indicator of a popular place. The food was very good, with some spiciness but not too hot. We will definitely go back.
Food there was so good at one time. Not so lately. Ordered 2 entrees last Saturday. The spicy basil leaves had no spice - very bland. The vegetables and tofu entree also had little taste. Will take this restaurant off my “favorites list”.
Excellent food and service!
Amazing sushi and Thai menu! Such an amazing out of town experience. We ordered sushi, ramen bowl, hibachi, rice bowl (don’t remember names). Yudha was excellent server, very knowledgeable of all menu. Very clean restaurant and bar.
What an amazing spot here in Birmingham. Wow what great food and service. I keep coming back time and time again with friends and family, and never everyone agrees one of The best places to eat in area.
Very good for vegetarians
Authentic! One of our favorite restaurants when we're passing through Birmingham. The owner always makes an effort to say hello and the servers are cheerful.
We love the food and recommend the gado gado and crispy rock chicken plus everything else on the menu. It's all great!
Great flavors/food and excellent service!
It's been about a year since we visited Nori. They have remodeled and the food was better than ever. Highly recommend!
The food was great, the service was great, and the atmosphere was great. I generally don’t like fusion Asian places and am picky about Japanese food (having lived there), but Nori was simply great. The nigiri sushi was so good! I recommend highly.
Nice ambience for group lunches/ dinners. Variety of food and drink options. Value for money
Fantastic sushi 😍& our waiter February was so attentive!
There are lots of parking since it’s in a strip mall, they do have a separate area for take out orders. Roti canai was pretty small, but for the price it was a fair value. Crispy rock chicken were just small breaded deep fried chicken nuggets. Korokke (croquettes) were crispy on the outside and savory on the inside. The basil roll was made fresh but I wasn't a fan of the dipping sauce. Gyudon was hearty and filling, and the pad thai was pretty good. Pretty annoyed how they fit all of that in one paper bag causing the hot food to deform the sauce packs causing them to leak all over though.
The sushi was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent! I will come back to eat there again 😁
Excellent food and service!
Savory !!
Great food, eat there asap. Going back as soon as I can. Chicken larb was legit
I absolutely love this place! The food and the service is superior! I could live off the coconut soup
Currently my favorite sushi and Thai place in the Birmingham metro area
I order the exact same dish at least once per week. Pricey, but delicious
Great pad Thai.
🌟Top Rated Reviewer🌟 👎👎👎👎👎Wow! All stars revoked!!! I've ❤️loved❤️ this place since they opened, but I guess that with all of the remodeling, they forgot how to make sushi! 🍣 Nori, did you think you could run out of rice vinegar and still make sushi?! Well you can't, because it tastes like trash. I know, because I've tried to make sushi and my take-out order is how it tastes. Horrible. That's why I pay other people to make me delicious sushi 🥰, not the inedible mess that was handed to me today. This was so bad that I literally had to buy another lunch elsewhere. Tis the death of Nori Thai & Sushi! ☠️ 🪦What a sad, sad day. 😭
👍If helpful, thanks! 🙏
Food was great. We were in a large party so it was a little overwhelming. We'll be back with just the family.
Service was a bit slow and sushi took quite a while after entrees but food was amazing. Think they might have been short staffed that night.
This restaurant is by far our favorite Thai food in the Birmingham area. It is authentic, the service is impeccable, and the atmosphere is very laid-back. It has become our go to lunch spot for Thai food.
Wonderful atmosphere and staff!!!!!
Great food and service. Atmosphere was casual but nice.
Nori has always been a consistent favorite and after their renovation even upped their game with a beautiful refreshed space and even bigger menu.
The things that didn’t change - exceptional service and great prices for the quality food.
It’s a constant on our rotation and we have never left dissatisfied.
Always a great dining experience, never feel rushed, date night vibes, great for group dinners with friends, favorites are the spring rolls, war eagle roll, super crunch roll, Pad Thai, plus they have Hibatchi dinner options
Love this place. The sushi is always good, the lunch specials are all great. If we lived closer I would be in constantly. I like the eel and salmon roll combo the best, pad thai, and spicy noodles (will try with beef next time.) Spring rolls are good and if you have enough room for dessert the fried cheesecake was a lot of fun. Plus even if something isn't right when you come here they will fix it because they really seem proud of their business, and they should be.
So the squid salad is really bad. I used to like Nori in general but the squid salad, this Saturday night was chewy, tasteless and...cold .. direct out of the refrigerator cold... colder than the plate it was served on... clearly not fresh -- day old?...who knows. this is not a dish, while eating, you say to yourself 'this is really good '.. just the opposite... I guess they think this is acceptable or their patrons don't know fresh or good. Reflects badly on their attitudes and respect for their diners - I will be careful on trusting their dishes going forward....
This is the best sit down Thai restaurant in Birmingham.
Great place for a bite to eat. The sushi is excellent, but the pad Thai is also good. Really nothing bad on the menu
We stopped in for lunch in the middle of doing some basement clearing, because the smell was so tempting while we dropped off some donations next door at Goodwill. We were not disappointed. We will definitely return.
Our team met for a birthday celebration 🎂. Great service and food
One of the best dining experiences in the greater Birmingham area. We go at least once a week.
I've ordered Thai hot at many other places but when your order Thai hot from Nori expect to be punished. You almost can't even taste the food its so hot. Currently sweating while typing this.... haha
The Panang Curry was excellent.
The staff here is so friendly.. The sushi chef is awesome too. Always great food. Spicy beef salad is wonderful and the sushi lunch special is a bargain!
$15+ for undercooked steamed rice and 6 pieces of overcooked shrimp.
the food was delicious and the service was friendly. I think I have found my new favorite thai spot!
Great find! Am not from the area and family wanted sushi. We found Nori and took a chance. Glad we did! Excellent food and service. We will definitely visit again when back in town.
Best place to eat! Everything is yummy for your tummy! I guarantee you will definitely not be disappointed!!!!!
Excellent Thai and sushi. Staff were amazing and very friendly.
Great food. Very well managed.
Overall great experience. Great atmosphere, good food and friendly service. This place is one of our family favorites.
Nori Thai is the best Thai restaurant in the Birmingham area. The food is incredible with a wide variety and unique options.
Best sushi in the city
I recently visited Nori and was blown away by the experience. The vibe inside is just fantastic, especially with the spacious bar and the stunning fish tank that adds something really special to the atmosphere. The staff were super friendly, making me feel welcome right from the start.
I ordered the Pad Thai and the Crunchy Spicy Tuna Roll, and both were out of this world. The Pad Thai had this perfect mix of flavors, and the tuna roll was the right kind of spicy, with a crunch.
Nori is a great place… Can't recommend it enough. Definitely going back soon!
It's ok but it is not Surin west.
Came in for lunch on a Friday and it was moderately packed but still with available seating. I got the massaman curry lunch special with shrimp, regular spice. It was quite delicious and a different take on curry that I’m used to having. All of the flavors complemented each other. The shredded carrots and avocado garnish was a nice touch!
Will definitely be back to try more items on the menu.
Best customer service ever. Best lychee martini in Alabama. The food is amazing as well! Love this place
The spicy noodles were awesome! The base spice level is mild, so ask for more if you like spicy.
We come here often and every single time this place is amazing. Everything we try is delicious. The prices are good and the service is friendly. Highly recommend any of the curries and the beef nam tok. We will be coming back!
Despite being very busy, service was excellent, food absolutely delicious! We enjoyed appetizers, soup, entrees and drinks.
FRESH INGREDIENTS! This restaurant serves the freshest sushi around! Everything from the wasabi to the rice to the fish was incredible. We ordered the salmon hibachi with fried rice, vegetables and coconut tofu soup. The soup had a hint of spice and it was perfect for this 33 degree evening. We also ordered the Nam Tok Beef, War Eagle Roll, volcano roll, and the Hawaii roll. The ginger salad is also very good with a sweet flavor.
The restaurant looks like there’s been some updates since our last visit. Great for families, friends, and date nights. There is spacious seating as well. Our server was incredibly sweet and showed up to the table at the best times, providing everything we asked for with pleasant service.
I love this restaurant. The staff are always friendly and take really good care of their customers.
Their food is delicious, I've yet to have a single complaint about anything I've eaten there. They have Japanese and Thai options. When you order takoyaki, you get SIX pieces!! That was way more exciting than it needed to be, but still.
There's a lovely large saltwater tank when you enter the door. The lighting is low, but not so low that you can't see the food in front of you. Very chill and comfortable atmosphere. I feel like I'm at home when I eat here.
The location could potentially be difficult getting in and out of during rush hour, but if you plot your route correctly, it shouldn't be too big of a deal. I've never had issues finding a parking spot, even right before Christmas.
I made specific reservations by phone for 11. The man said fine. We drive a long way to get there they say we open at 12? Never going back!
Very good food. The sushi is excellent!
Best Thi in Birmingham
I've only used the takeout side for work functions but it's our go to for takeout for a larger group of six or more. Sooooo good, fast delivery with door dash but for Christ's sakes y'all leave them folks a tip ...
This place is fantastic and the waiters know the menu. - Gluten Free options are superb.
Great place to have lunch and visit. Food is great!
Was an amazing experience loved the way it looked and felt. The staff was amazing and always made helpful suggestions. My favorite part was the fish tank though.
Amazing such best in town
Fresh ingredients and delicious food! Very friendly and accommodating staff!
Poke bowl is always good! Staff are pleasant.
Absolutely fantastic sushi! The owner is hands down the nicest person and ensures that you have a great experience. Can not wait for my next visit!
