Family-owned Thai Restaurant in West Allis. Renowned for its vibrant flavors, harmonious balance, and aromatic spices, Thai food has captured the hearts of food enthusiasts worldwide. This culinary journey will take you through the essence of Thai cooking, where each dish tells a unique story and exemplifies the country's rich cultural heritage.
This was such a disappointment. I was extremely excited for my green curry, ordered take out, so this is really for the food only. First, there were no utensils. This is a huge pet peeve of mine, you cannot assume that everyone is eating at home. I am on a work trip, eating in a hotel, and had to beg and ask around for silverware. Egg rolls were delivered still crispy, so we were off to a decent start. Bland and nothing special, but crispy. Curry I ordered with tofu and paid extra for seafood. Not a single piece. The curry was extremely watery and bland, not enough flavor and no spice at all. I ordered a 3, after second guessing a 4, because I really wanted the flavor. This was green water. The description did not say it came with rice, although I assumed it would, I wanted to make sure I had some so ordered a side. It would be helpful if you added that to your online description. I specifically ordered from here because they offered two kinds of curry, and the other Thai restaurants in the area only had noodles. The saving grace was the mango sticky rice was great. I would not order from here again, it missed on so many levels. Also because I had it delivered it was over $50. And no cravings were satisfied.
Despite the negative reviews I've heard, I actually like their Thai/Lao dishes after trying this place myself.
Ordered the Pad Kra Pow and Thai ice tea, I wouldn't recommend. What I can recommend is their Pad See Ew and fried rice, so flavorful and so good! I have also tried their beef pho, thought the broth had too much salt added.
Service was fast, waitress was friendly and attentive. The overall place is always clean and tidy (3rd time dining here, so far), with plenty of indoor seating and an outdoor uncovered patio seating. There's also a somewhat private dining room to accommodate a large party.
I didn't call the restaurant back in regards to finding a piece of metal dish scrub in one of my dish (after getting home). I know mistakes happen, but please be more careful.
Thai food is usually hit or miss. I feel the food here hits all the notes. The sweet and sour chicken was crispy, the pork rice was tasty and the Satay was very good. The server was very polite and responsive. The atmosphere near the table was very nice. There are gaming machines in the back by the bar which took away a little from the atmosphere, but then again I am surs they her their use. The bar was well stocked, and well maintained. The menu gives a lot of choices, which is nice. Overall, it is worth a try.
They have plenty of seating inside and they also offer patio seating…they have gaming machines by the bar lol
The price is fair
Our server was very polite and responsive, we had 8ppl with four kids so needed more time to decide on what to order she came back twice and we were not ready lol
We rarely eat thai and I can honestly say the food is probably the worst thai food I ever had lol. The beef were old old old and over cooked lol. The coffee was too sweet…
Ps. They are a few blocks from the Wisconsin sate fair so their parking lot is BUSY!! lol
The review should be about 3.5 stars, but you can't do that unfortunately. It's a very nice place inside. The food came out pretty fast and was hot and fresh. We had the shrimp tempura for an appetizer, then had the papaya salad, Drunken noodles, and Pad Thai for the entrees. Portion sizes are generous and priced accordingly. The drunken noodles were definitely the better of the two options we choose for entrees. The papaya salad and Pad Thai both lacked flavor compared to other Thai restaurants I have been to. I will go back to try the Pho and a few other items and hopefully have better results flavor wise.
We came to Thai Orchid during its soft opening period. The staff was very nice to us. It is a small, family owned business.
The food was good. We had the Crab Rangoon and the Pad Thai. The Rangoon probably needed a little more filling and the Pad Thai could have used some more sauce. But overall the flavors were quite good!
They have plenty of seating inside and on the patio. They are only a few blocks from State Fair Grounds.
Later in the evening they have a good bar and karaoke space.
Update: we came back later and had some of their curry as well as the drunken noodles. The food was even better than before!
My SIL is Thai. I'm always searching for a local place that cooks as good as hers. This place is pretty close.
The food was really good but I asked for lowest level of spicy and it was so so soooooo spicy it was hard to eat :/
The food was amazing
This might be the worst restaurant I've ever been in my life. I went to celebrate an occasion with a friend and we left the table with full plates. We couldn't stomach the entrees. The pad thai had entirely too much and possibly spoiled fish sauce. The curry tasted like spiced hot vinegared coconut water. Very disappointed. 😞
The crab Rangoons were OK. Probably because they are pre-prepared and ordered in.
I ordered mango sticky rice on uber eats from here... the flavor was good but the rice was completely fused into one bock, I was having a hard time cutting through it with a metal fork. There were also two chunks of it that were so hard I couldn't bite though it.
Basil fried rice is so yummy! Enough wok energy for the pad see ew. Thai iced tea is always good.
This place is amazing.
Thai Orchid is quickly becoming my favorite place to eat in Milwaukee! The Pad Kee Mao (drunken noodles) are absolutely delicious and they have some of the best crab rangoons + sweet and sour sauce that I've ever had! Prices are reasonable and the service is great, too! I will definitely be back again!
Went recently for dinner, and they had live music. I was by myself and welcomed by staff and Samantha, the owner. My meal was very good, I order pepper steak and egg rolls. The pepper steak was very flavorful and tender, close to the best I've had The live music was fun. I had a great time and made some great friends.
When Thai Orchid first opened up, the food was outstanding. Since then it has gone down hill, not sure why? We kept giving it second chances but this past week we ordered out and I actually threw their paper menu in the garbage. I asked for no cilantro in the spring rolls, got cilantro in the spring rolls, my husband got the volcano chicken and asked when he picked it up if there was rice for it and they said yes, no rice was in the bag. He said the chicken was like jerky and even had a hard time cutting it. Sorry guys, not coming back-
Great food and great service. Best Pad Thai in town and red curry has some kick. Chicken was tender and delicious.
If you're in West Allis and have a hankering for some Thai food. Give it a try!
It's ok. Nothing special...
Our waitress disappeared for quite awhile so I walked our dishes up to the front and was looking for another beer round. Then she arrived.
Had the Beef Pad See-Ew, which was not bad. I've had better but it gets the job done.
It was our first time here. It was the best PHO we've ever had. The service was impeccable. We will definitely be going back!
They had live music, which I enjoyed. The food was delicious. Very nice place.
They should change their name to Thai Garbage because that’s exactly what they served me.
The BEST Pad Thai I’ve ever had. Service was quick and staff members were kind! We ordered the Green Curry and Veggie Pho as well and both were so flavorful. The Shrimp Spring Rolls were so fresh. The quality and quantity of the food for the price is the best part! Can’t wait to come back in the summer to enjoy the outdoor seating. Absolutely recommend!
tuesday night dinner, not busy and very relaxed atmosphere. got pineapple fried rice, drunken noodles, and green curry. first two were great and green curry was okay. spice seems to run low/will ask for extra spice next time.
Great dinner with friends. 10 of us enjoyed a variety of dinners. All left satisfied! Good deal and great service.
Food is good here.
But don't come on a Sunday night. They have karaoke here it's loud and obnoxious!
Awful, barely resembles Thai food. They offer nothing but disappointment.
Sam , thanks for the great food, and a fun party experience, I love it all 🌈❤️💕🌹
The food here was incredible! It was hands down the best Thai food I have ever eaten in my life. I highly recommend.
Food, lacking of flavor.
Service, lady who hand me my order, almost threw it on the counter.
Atmosphere? Empty…
Good menu decent price
Despite the negative reviews I've heard, I actually like their Thai/Lao dishes after trying this place myself.

The price is fair
Our server was very polite and responsive, we had 8ppl with four kids so needed more time to decide on what to order she came back twice and we were not ready lol

Food was delicious. I had the vegetable stir fry and my friend had the red curry. However, service was absolutely terrible. It took for ever to come take our order after we got our water and asked a few questions. Finally came around the corner 15 minutes later. After ordering, I realized she never asked me the level of spicy when I said I want to make my dish spicy. Looked around the corner to find her and thought it was leading me to a kitchen. She was on her phone sitting in a booth. Finally after getting her attention for our bill, we were charged the wrong price for one of the meals. Nowhere in sight again! But found her again around the corner in the booth on her phone. Fixed our bill and she was sure quick to pick it up and gave us a look when we left a little over 10%. Should have told her maybe her phone left her a portion of the tip. Really want to come back because the food is really taste and fresh but management needs to get on this poor service.
The food isn't the best. The Orchid stirfry had a gravy on it that wasn't the best. It honestly reminded me of Chinese food with an American Thai flare.
A person in our party has a low heat tollerance so they ordered the Tum Muh because it didn't have a flame, pepper next to it, or have any peppers in the ingredients. It simply said it came with a sweet and sour sauce. When we got it, it had chilly flakes and pieces of chilli peppers in it and was spicier than the green curry. When we questioned it, the waitor claimed we should have known better. The rest of our party enjoyed their food.
Had takeout for a larger group, all the orders were correct, hot, and the food portions were phenomenal. Spice level 2 is still quite mild, 3 has some nice added heat, adventure to 4 if you like spice. Highly recommend!
Surprised to find a Thai place in the neighborhood. Food was good.
D
The drunken noodles here were delicious. The service wasn’t great. I would definitely return though just for the drunken noodles because of how good they were. The crab rangoons were also good.
Was hoping the curry would have been spicier
Absolutely delicious food, great service! Will be back!
The Pho was great.
Also delicious Pad Thai
Ordered both the red and green curry not spicy (to go) and took one bite and realized they were both super spicy. When I called to check if that's how it was meant to be, they said we don't make it any other way, just spicy. The website gives the option to have no spice.... No attempt was made to offer any apology or alternative. Good to know for the future!!!
The food was excellent and the customer service was exceptional. 10/10
The menu is a little more limited than other Thai restaurants. They don't have spicy eggplant which is one of my personal favorites. What they do have is really good but be warned. . . Medium heat is very hot!
Seriously so good! Go check it out!
My food was absolutely tasteless. The air conditioning was broke. I wouldn't go back there if you put a gun to my head
Prices were fair. One dish was ordered with no egg and with chicken. The other with ordered as it came (with red) and with beef and extra spicy. When the dishes were dropped off the server set them down, walked away and never came back. The chicken dish was extra spicy and had egg while the beef dish had no spice and no egg. Our server never came back to check how everything was. After waiting I had to get up and ask someone to find her. I told her the mistake on the order and she simply said “ok.” There was no apology or offer to remake the food. She simply dropped off a check. We had to ask for boxes and paid full price for food that was not made correctly that was not eaten. No apology or offer to correct the mistake. Kindof disappointing because I think it would have been pretty good if it was correct.
Overcooked rice or rice that's been sitting out, mushy texture. Red curry had great flavor but all the other dishes lacked flavor, including the crab Rangoon. The place is nice, clean and a great place to have a large party so maybe after their open a bit longer the food will improve. They also have an outdoor patio area too. For now, I won't be going back.
Great friendly staff and delicious curry
We came to Thai Orchid during its soft opening period. The staff was very nice to us. It is a small, family owned business.

Great Thai food! Been here a few times and everything I've tried has been excellent 👌
Good food. We had volcano chicken and green curry. Both were well prepared. The egg rolls were closer to spring rolls but very tasty.
I had a wonderful experience at thai orchid. Very great staff. Clean top to bottom. Bathroom was immaculate, which to me speaks highly about the places cleanliness. Huge alcohol selection. Food was tasty and came quickly. Price was very respectable. Seeming like top thai place in the area. I will return
Food was okay.
We ordered the red curry, druken noodles, and volcano chicken.
The curry lacked flavor and coconut milk. The volcano chicken was dry, but flavored nicely. Druken noodles were better, but a lot of other restaurants will offer more variety of vegetables.
The best thing to note is the party room and restaurant was pleasantly spaced and decorated. Not worth the price tag. Not sure when I'll go back. It's definitely on the bottom of the list.
Best authentic Thai food I have eaten. People were awesome, and the atmosphere was very inviting. I highly recommend if you want authentic Thai food.
Tried the pork pad Thai can't wait to try some more of the dishes they offer. It's pricey to drink beer here so catch a buzz after you eat. It's fantastic 😊
Excellent food and prices.
Hot, fresh, full of flavor. Fantastic.
Absolutely yummy food! I got the beef and meatball pho and omg sooo phooocking good! I definitely recommend this place, super nice staff as well

Atmosphere is really cool. Staff was very welcoming and friendly and the food was really good! Definitely recommended!!!!
Great flavors, Great service, and a place to take a group you want to hang out and enjoy their company. It's a relaxed atmosphere with wonderful food.
Amazing experience, place was bright and clean, waitress was great, especially with my peanut allergy. Food was the best, volcano chicken and pepper steak, also egg rolls and crab Rangoon. Already decided what to have next time even though we took home leftovers.
Amazing waiter and even the owner was there and they were just so nice and the food was so good, it beat Thai-Namite by a long shot!!
What a gem! Food is phenomenal!
Decided to try this place out after driving past numerous times. The entrance/exit doors have a mandatory metal detector which is downright bizarre. I don't have anything to hide, but I have never went to a restaurant that had something like this installed.
Atmosphere inside was nice. Regular tables in the middle, booths along the walls. If you have one loud/rowdy party, the sound travels all over and drowns your own conversations out.
Food prices are typical for Thai restaurants. The appetizer prices are a bit high for the quality/quantity ratio.
The Volcano Chicken ordered had a weird chemical taste in the chicken, typical of what I would taste when buying from the grocery store (frozen/filled with preservatives taste). I thought I was making it up, but the bf's dish, with chicken also tasted like this.
I was kind of disappointed as the taste of the chicken really soured my expectations and enjoyment of the meal. I still left decent-sized tip, but most likely will not be back.
Loved it! We both ordered the Green Curry. It was incredible! I normally feel like it's not spicy enough and was very happy with it! If you don't like spicy, I would warn it does have a kick. (Wished they had yellow or another option other than red too, but green is my favorite anyway.)
Also ordered an iced coffee (iced Thai coffee) and it was delicious!!!
Very happy and we will be back!
Also love the prices. Everything is very reasonably priced. Thank you for the amazing food, drinks, and service!
Definitely somewhere you can take your time to sit back and enjoy a meal or eat quickly if you have somewhere to be.
Thank you!!!
Had red curry. Hot.w/chicken and all. Overd. Will hav again
We had the place to ourselves for an early dinner...food was hot and fresh and waiter was attentive...we will be back for sure 😊
I ordered the Spicy Thai Basil fried rice
Food fresh and delicious. Relaxing atmosphere. It feels like the owners care. I loved it and so did my husband
Food was among the best Thai we have ever had. Service was not quite as good but was certainly adequate. Took more than a minute to get silverware after the outstanding spring rolls arrived. Pad Ki Mow (spelling) was very tasty. Partner had tofu, which she said was outstanding and I had pork. Hot pepper sauce was on the table, so we could control the heat. We were under a time frame and we made our dance right on time.
Best crab rangoon i’ve ever had i think, very very good
Great food. Service is trying atleast but not quite there yet.
Un lugar muy tranquilo la comida muy rica y el servicio excelente
Food quality went downhill from the first initial soft opening. Not sure what happened or if the restaurant changed hands. It's now becoming another cheap ingredient/ quality place with increased prices. I'll pay for good quality food with flavors and ingredients used.
The food here is delicious and the staff is nice!
Super nice staff and really good food!
Beautiful inside but Tom Yum was not great. It was lacking the depth of flavor that it usually has. Larb was served barely warm and waitress kept asking if we were done, and I was not offered a refill.
Delicious, nice atmosphere, accommodating
Breath of fresh air! Great food, clean, cozy. Attentive staff.
Best Thai restaurant in West Allis! I've tried a lot of menu items, but I keep going back to the pad thai eventually. The Lao style beef jerky is a must try!
Placed a phone order that didn’t make its way to the kitchen. Quick turn around time, but would have appreciated some communication that my order was lost. They threw in an order of crab rangoon, which was actually better than the rest of my order of spring rolls, pad thai, and hot/sour soup. Every newer place has its kinks to work through. Overall, not my favorite, but better than most.
4 out of 5 stars I always did online order. They just need to stay consistent with there food.
Restaurant was clean with a nice waitress. This was hands down the worst Thai food I ever had. The Pad See Ew was luke warm, the tofu cold without any sauce on it or flavor and the vegetables almost raw and cool. It literally has no flavor. My friend has the Pad Thai which was warm but lacking flavor.
Great Food!
Green curry with tofu. That is all. 😍😍😍😍
Red and Green curry without coconut base or milk base was sad.
Spring rolls were good.
We will not be coming back.
Great food great customer service
Never tried Thai food before. It was delicious! Can't wait to go back and try something different. The beef jerky was amazing! I don't remember what my daughter ordered but, she wanted to go back the next day to get more🤣
Stopped here on our drive home from a convention. Place was clean, staff friendly and the curry was fantastic. Also tried my boyfriend’s Pad Thai and we had crab rangoon. My only complaint is that I think my curry was supposed to contain eggplant and I think it was left out. But the speed of getting our food and the amusement of what was on the TV doesn’t even lend me to take a star off for this error. I would eat there again if I was in the area.
We went here a couple times after this place first opened and the food was actually really good. Then the service kinda slowly started falling behind. Our last visit the food was seriously like they threw the previous nights slop in takeout containers and microwaved it. The curry we got was literally spicy water, no creaminess texture to it at all. Honestly this was probably the most disappointing thai food I've ever had. They have a cool atmosphere but that's the only thing they have going for them at this point. Probably won't be going back to this place.
We saw this place on our way to eat at another place and decided to check it out!
Great curry dishes, can come with challenging heat
Love the beef laab
I had takeout. Looks like a lovely restaurant. The only thing I didn't really like was the drunken noodles and they forgot to put soy sauce in my bag.
Food was top notch. Very quick as well!
They catered my Halloween party and everything was excellent. All our guest raved about the food. We plan to use them for all our parties and functions.
Best Thai place I've been to in Milwaukee county thus far.
Good food there.
Delicious food, great service, and a very comfortable atmosphere.
We ordered the pad Thai and the pad see. I was reallllllllly surprised and disappointed that they don’t have tofu at all. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a Thai or Chinese restaurant that doesn’t have tofu.
Aside from that, the meal was delicious. Our server was friendly. The atmosphere was… interesting. Overall would like to eat here more since we live less than a half mile away, but not sure if I will unless there is a vegetarian protein option offered.
UPDATE: They’ve added tofu! Yay! Thank you!
Instant family favorite! There are a lot of great pho places in the area, but this spot also has really, really good authentic larb, Lao sausage, sticky rice, pad Thai, and other items that are hard to come by around here. We’ve gone twice in one week already and will be back again and again for sure!
My wife heard nothing but great reviews so we decided yo give it a try. Serve staff seemed like they didn't know what was going on, staff didn't even know the menu, food was not good. Maybe it was a off night for them, but it was bad. I ordered the loa sausage, when it came out, that's all there was, one sausage cut up and sauce. A meal? For a child, but I'm an adult! Wife was not happy with her food either. She got a To go box, and then decided she would never eat it and left it there. Like I said, maybe an off night, so off, I won't go back.
Loved Thai Orchid.
The food is just delicious. We had a variety ordered among the nine of us: Pho, fried rice, chicken satay, spring rolls, nam kow, and I had the sweet and sour chicken after an order of egg rolls. Super good and not over the top sweet like many places. The chicken is diced nice and small and the rice is served on the side so when you take your leftovers home it's not getting soggy being in the sauce. The egg rolls are small and crispy with a tasty filling and good dipping sauce. In true form, I starting eating my egg rolls before taking a picture. You actually get three per order. Those that had varying types of Pho all said their choice was delicious. Massive bowls. All dishes were served in large portions.
The service was very good. Sweet girl, attentive. Additional runners helped bring out trays of food as the trays they use only fit 2, MAYBE 3, dishes. Unless it's Pho and then just one bowl. Yea. That big.
The atmosphere was very pleasant. We had our own little room just off the entrance that wasn't completely closed in so we still felt part of the restaurant as a whole. Good lighting. Very nice for conversing.
Google Maps stills shows the front as being a closed business. Have no fear. They are actually there.
Great food! Perfect amount of spicy!
The foood was so delicious, atmosphere was great, chefs great, menu great options and flavors, however our whole party had an issue with the spice levels. Please adjust the medium to a 3rd level spicy and create a mild, spicy, hot, and extremely hot 🔥 level of spice. Medium burned our mouths and almost ruined the dishes flavor. Too much.
Overall I would eat here again though and recommend it.
Super fresh and delicious 😋 thank you
Would definitely recommend and go back.
I love the environment!!! Very friendly place and the owners are amazing!!! Hands down some of the best pho in a restaurant I've ever had, the presentation is always beautiful and the energy is welcoming! Great place to go on a date or have a family dinner- very family oriented!
My wife & I wanted to try this place out, as we were looking for some decent pad Thai closer to our home. While it wasn't busy upon our visit, the service was fast & friendly...and BOY did the Pad Thai deliver! Good menu selection and good value - we will be back!
I had the rad na and my partner had the crispy pork. Both large portions that will be enjoyed as left over. The brown sauce in the rad nar is very savory and tasty and there is no shortage of it. It had quite the abundance of tender chicken, flat noodles, and cabbage+broccoli. We also shared the egg rolls which were really fresh tasting, I loved them. We enjoyed the crispy pork which came in nice big pieces, but I found it just a bit dry. I liked that they provide fish sauce, hoisin, etc all on the table you are free to use. I also like that the menu is very organized and easy to understand; all of the dishes have the ingredients listed so you know exactly what flavors you’re getting if you’re not familiar with the cuisine—soo helpful. The interior is well decorated and clean. The bar, karaoke and slot machines look like a fun time. The service was just ok but I think they were young and a little inexperienced. Overall, this place has nice atmosphere and food and we will be back to try more in the future!
I am Asian myself and I love eating Asian food everywhere I go. I came in this place hoping for the best! The people were really nice and everything was great. The only downside was that I did not enjoy the red curry they offered. It was more liquid than thick curry. And the reason why I give the curry such a low rating was because the veggies in the dish were NOT cooked. They were still very hard and raw. It was so disappointing. I did not finish half of the bowl and I always finish my food no matter what. It was 70% Vegetables and 30% of the curry. I am disappointed in this place and I won’t be going back. The food is just okay. I also got the pork spring rolls and it just was not good and authentic. The spring roll sauce was very thick and almost like a paste. The mint in the spring rolls really overpowered it and i couldn’t finish it. In my opinion, I will not be coming back because the food is not worth it.
First time here. The place has many tables. The service was good. They took my order quickly. I got the special rice and an order of spring rolls. The rolls were huge and tasty. Great flavors. Everything tasted fresh. I got my main dish. The rice with chicken was good. The serving was plenty. I had to doctor it up a bit. Flavor was just a little bit bland. No big deal.
The food was good. Service was good.
I had the drunken noodles with chicken
It was very tasty - just the right amount of spice for me. This is a clean place with a small patio. I'll definitely be back!
Awesome food.
Great flavor
