Neighborhood hangout with booth seating & a selection of Thai entrees & desserts.
This place is neck and neck with Pure Thai IMHO. They are a little bit more expensive, but the quality and portion of food seem about the same. I would say the service is a bit more attentive at Pure Thai, I like their location better, and it seemed a tad more clean overall. With that said, I wouldn't pass up Kindee Thai if in that area. My dad loved it so that's all that mattered to me today!
So glad I got the chance to eat here while visiting a family member who just moved to the area. Literally the best yellow curry I’ve ever had in my life! I spilled a water as well and they were very kind about it and hilariously brought us all plastic cups after lol. They also were able to make me a Thai iced tea that was fully vegan with coconut milk instead of dairy. Good service and great food. Can’t wait to come back!
A friend of mine kept bragging about how great this place was and how I had to try it out; like asap. I was free a couple days ago and told him "lets go!" As we arrived that evening, parking wasn't bad and was seated very quickly. Scrolling through their menu, I knew exactly what I wanted to order since I love Southeast Asian cuisine. I ordered their seafood tom yum soup and their angel wings in the appetizer section; while my friend ordered their crab fried rice and pad kee mao. We literally ate everything we both ordered, their seafood tasted fresh with large portions and every bite I took of their fried rice you can taste the dungeness crab. My favorite dish by far was the angel wings, it reminded me of my childhood playing at the buddhist temple during new years.
Overall experience: 5
Food Quality: 5
Service: 5
Cleanliness: 5
Price: Fair (quality over quantity).
Will definitely recommend this place to anyone and everyone who loves authentic Southeast Asian cuisine that's prepared and cooked correctly.
(Update) 5-15-2019
Came here last night for dinner and ended up spending $137 between four of us, and I must say that it was worth every penny. Like I said in my earlier review on Kindee Thai; service and food was wonderful. 5 Stars always.
Great food, wonderful service. The people running this place are really lovely, kind and friendly. We will return whenever we are in the area.
The pork and vegetable entree was good. There was an issue with my order, so they brought me lean pork. :)
good soups
I love the people here. They are very kind, good energy. The food is tasty as a bonus. Thank you so much! 💓
The place is nice, the staff~ lovely!! 💛
Food tasted delicious!! … However, both my boyfriend and I got a case of the runs within a couple hours after eating there. 😬 Not sure what that was all about. 🤔
Update: I went back last week 10/31/24 and after eating there, I got the runs again!! 🤔
This place is expensive
1st time there. Walked in around 1230ish. Didn't look like there were very many people. There was a young man in the back doing something??? When we walked in he didn't even look up to acknowledge we had come in. There were no signs indicating self seating or wait to be seated. After we stood there for a few minutes we left. That is extremely rude. Bad for business!
This place is neck and neck with Pure Thai IMHO. They are a little bit more expensive, but the quality and portion of food seem about the same. I can't recommend this place enough, my wife and I stopped by close to closing and the food, service and everything was fantastic. New favorite spot!
Great food and great service! The tom yum soup was delicious
Fourth Plain is kind of a foodie desert until we came across this little gem. We ordered a take out of Khao Soi and red curry, both were very flavorful, creamy and well cooked. It might be a little salty than we preferred but doesn't affect the overall tastiness! We plan to go back again for dining in. And the staff was very helpful and cheerful!
The best in this area. As a huge Thai food fan, I traveled to Thailand before and I’ve tried every single Thai place in East Vancouver and Camas, this is pretty authentic and the best.
I highly recommend Pad Thai (I actually don’t like pad Thai that much, this is the only place that I order pad Thai).
My husband LOVES this place! Food is delicious & friendly service!
After dining in, we couldn't stop ordering take out! Their curry is so good. Our favorite is the yellow curry (which is fairly mild but still spicy) and the green curry. I don't know what it is about how they cook their eggplants, but it's amazing.
We got pineapple fried rice with beef and pad Thai with chicken. The food, while fresh, was unfortunately bland.
I live ordering the cashew nut dish. Vegan. They never disappoint on flavor and service.
Curry was very good
Best Thai food in the Vancouver area
Great Thai food. I do take out...
Thanks for the excellent food and hospitality!
Great food, Lao owners add variety to the general Thai menu expectation.
We both tried the Pad Thai, medium spice with chicken. So good. Not the overly sweet sauce that most restaurants have. This is the deep flavored sauce that I have only experienced at someone's house. It was fantastic, to say the least. We had the fried tofu for an appetizer, which was cooked perfectly. The wait staff were super friendly, and the service was quick. The atmosphere is rather interesting, and Americana mixed in with several other styles, which we enjoyed. A melting pot, is a good reference for it. I am now eagerly awaiting my next trip to try something new. Perhaps I'll have their Tom Yum soup, which looked wonderful.
One of our favorite restaurant!
Good food
Small portions compared to other Thai restaurants, but delicious!
I ordered medium spicy soup but the soup was extremely spicy to the point I had to add rice to the soup.
Ordered pad Thai and crispy duck. Duck was just a small deep fried portion of duck with yellow curry. The pad Thai was so sweet that I couldn't eat it. The yellow curry was terribly sweet too. Ruined my meal.
Staff were great and food was great. Frozen cheese cake........not so much but it was still good 👍. Now that I know of the place il go more :)
Family favorite! Great Tom Kha soup!
My favorite Thai restaurant and I have been to Thailand yrs back. Closest to my house. They are fast and great food. Had Avocado Green Curry- yummm. One of my favorites, open on a cold night
Tasty noms but smaller portions.
Best food in town!
Amazing place.
This place is my go to. VIBES ARE OFF THE CHART
Enjoyed my Birthday last night with my family at Kindee Thai restaurant. We all ordered something different. Each one came to us perfectly prepared and they looked very appealing to look at. The flavors were fantastic each one bursting with so much rich deliciousness 😋. After dinner was done the server, who was very nice and helpful and filled our water often and asked if we needed anything else, brought me a surprise birthday dish of Ube ice cream with a candle and sang happy 🎂 birthday. This place is fantastic in all ways.
Solid Thai food, wait staff was great. Music was a little loud but great otherwise.
I am rly disappointed in the drunken noodles-very little beef and it was over cooked. for how expensive it is, it was not worth it. the lady also asked if I wanted chopsticks and I said yes and she didn’t actually put them in the bag.
I love this place, my #1 go to when I want Thai food.
Food was great! 😋
Amazing good food, and they have take out!
Excellent Thai food. The best Thai place on that side of town.
This is my go-to for Thai food. They have a great TomKha soup, their crispy duck is the best and I think I've tried all their curries. I've never been disappointed. The waitresses are always friendly and come back to the table more than once to make sure everything is okay.
Lovely place, love the service and people. Good food, will be coming here again!
Good pad Thai. Nice staff.
My go-to local Thai restaurant! Everything is so good here and seasoned very well. Service is friendly and fast.
Our usuals are the larb, pad Thai, and we’ve tried a number of their curries as well. Cannot go wrong with any of them :)
This place is amazing. My boyfriend and I eat here regularly and have never had a single issue. Always great service, the best food, and inviting. Could not improve anything!
I live 20 mi away and make special trips just to eat this food here it is the best Thai food in Vancouver hands down
So glad I got the chance to eat here while visiting a family member who just moved to the area.
GREAT food! I would say, my only “complaint” would be that we were given our take out order without silverware and napkins, but it isn’t worth changing my review. I’m very picky about my Thai food, so I’m very thankful it’s turned out very well! We got Pho, Pad Thai and avocado dippers. We look forward to coming back and trying other options! Thai food is very expensive in general, but we chose to try this place instead because they actually have the cheapest price for Thai!
Great food
Good stuff. They can reduce the spice if you can't handle spicy food.
Try the green curry.
Very delicious food and nice people - good service!!!
Always love there food
This has to be the most underrated Thai restaurant in the area! Great menu and great food!
I had the Zen noodles and my wife had the Pineapple Fried Rice. Both were very good.
Great food and service!
Do not get the Pad Thai! It's literally the worst Pad Thai I've ever had. The tofu red curry was delicious but a little on the sweet side. The portion size was smaller than I'm used to getting for Thai food, but it was lunch. Maybe portions are smaller here at lunchtime. Nice service.
This place is so good.
My son loves this place! And I can see why! Great quality food. A bit expensive. But worth the splurge. Definitely one of the best Thai food I've had!
This was a decent Thai restaurant. Our coconut prawns were over cooked but still good. It was a bit expensive but everything is these days.
I had the yellow curry and it was very good.
The fried banana with coconut ice cream was amazing! I would go back just for that dish alone. We also had the mango sticky rice. Very good 👍
The pad Ginger was really good. Right amount of spice, lots of flavor. The service was very good also. We weren't rushed and they were very pleasant.
Only thing off, was it was cold. I actually thought about putting my jacket on.
Good food. Simple and to the point. No frills kinda place
excellent dinner 👍🏽
First time here. Really good experience and service, the guys were nice and polite. My grandfather had the beef noodles and he really liked it. I ordered the 3 flavor fish that was beautifully cooked and full of flavor. Topped it off with a Thai ice coffee and i was golden. Will definitely be back
Very easy way to not get one star reviews, be open, when your Google hours say you'll be open. Very very very very easy to change your hours on Google.
Disappointed
Excellent Thai food, quality service, and great atmosphere
Amazing tastes and flavors. Great price for how delicious and by far one of my favorite Thai places in Vancouver. 😍👍
Wow! The pad see ew is arguably the best in Vancouver, the noodles are perfect texture and the sauce is tasty! The Thai tea is definitely the best in the area, it is NOT watered down and has full flavor. It’s been years since I’ve been to Kindee Thai but I’ll be back soon :)
Great salad rolls & pineapple fried rice!
Be ware that the serving size has significantly been reduced. Ordered dinner pad Z ew and got about half a portion as we use to.
This is a calm oasis amid the chaos of life outside. Prompt service, beautiful dining room and tasty and beautiful food make a delightful combination.
Probably some of the best Currys in Vancouver!
Great food! Warm and friendly staff!
Yummy food, great service and amazing strawberry cheesecake! I tried one of their specials, avocados curry and it was excellent. Will be returning!
I usually go to wild tiger but am glad I drove a little out of the way :)
This restaurant was a pleasant surprise. It felt like one of those rare, Narnia-esque experiences ---It's a place I likely won't get the chance to eat at again but will think of whenever I am confronted with Thai food.
I had to make a trek down to Washougal, WA to pick up a special order at the Pendleton store. My mom and I decided to find a Thai restaurant on the way back. This place was unassuming, so I wasn't expecting much. I am so glad I was wrong.
The service was friendly, courteous, and fast. The food was fresh and presented outstandingly well. Seriously, hip seattle joints should take notes from this place. The papaya salad looked like an actual work of art. I wasn't thinking I'd eat much, but I was so hungry and every dish came out so on point, that my appetite expanded.
My mom and I split crunchy tofu, crab puff wontons, a papaya salad and tofu pad thai. We finished off the meal with the mango sticky rice served with ube ice cream. My pictures don't do these dishes justice, but you will know that once you see them for yourselves. You will not regret the trip to this store.
The food was moderate and a bit to expensive.
My local thai restraunt. I own a business in the plaza I cannot count the number of times they have gave me great food!!! Thanks!¡
A strip mall Thai restaurant with a comfortable, low key atmosphere and a talented kitchen staff. Not to be missed.
Haven't been eating out much at all during this whole pandemic thing but decided to treat ourselves to what we remembered as the best Thai food in the area. Was worried that after so long without that our memory would be better than the actual food. Should not have worried. The food was as excellent as we remembered. Will still be our go to Thai restaurant.
The ambience is great, the service is great, it is very clean, simply the best Thai food my husband and I have ever had. We are both chefs and appreciate good food this place has the most amazing Thai food such beautiful flavors! Will be back soon! If you haven’t been here go try it it is so so so so so so amazing!
The food was outstanding the best there is service was great to and I would definitely be back
Best BBQ Chicken!
The bbq chicken is juicy and tasty, but small for the price.
Ordered salad rolls with no cilantro and they always serve with cilantro. Really disappointed since I like the salad rolls so much. I ordered the tofu appetizer and they came in little triangles and were so fried I couldn’t even eat them. Waste of money for those.
Came here for dinner and was not pleased. I ordered the Pad Z Ew and my friend ordered the Pad Basil, the Kindee chicken, and the steamed mussels. Serving portions were so small and the Kindee chicken basically felt like you were eating teriyaki chicken. The Pad Z Ew was not spicy at all and was super greasy. The customer service was nice and efficient, but the food was not up to par. Would recommend going to Thai Orchid! They have better portions and customer service is good too!
Ordered beef pad se ew, the meat was tough and grisly. The wide noodles were greasy and mushy. Service was OK. But never asked me why I didn't eat the food that was served, brought me a box that I never used. If I owned or worked at a restaurant, I would take pride in what I served or of the kitchen.
My friend ordered shrimp with noodles and my other friend ordered pad Thai, both were not good.
Won't go back
So this is the new tradition. Go to yard sales in the morning and when you can't look at one more box of Depends or one more rack of generic glassware, I cut the treasure route and look for good food. Seriously though, I find great stuff at Yard sales and don't want to insult the Yard Sale Gods... Seriously.
There is no better way to end a day of treasure hunting than finding culinary gold, preferably broth.
Kindee Thai has that homey welcoming look that so many places lack. nice colors, nice decor, plants. I don't understand why more Asian places don't do this. sometimes it seems like a choice to be as bland and unremarkable as possible. Kindee makes me want to come in, it makes me predisposed to like the meal, although I have been tricked in the past.
Today I choose the Kao Soi, I love a good light curry and I love noodles like a madman loves the moon. First, the crispy noodles seem to come rioting up out of the bowl like tangle of wisteria vines. They guide the eye down into the brothy depths. The next impression is the bowl is too big, the broth looks a little lost in the great bath of a bowl. It's an illusion, there is plenty, but they should put it in a smaller bowl so it doesn't look so lonely.
That being said, it's a great bowl of curry broth. The noodles deep down in the murky depths are nicely mixed and have good lift. Long slightly tangled chewy noodles that simply cry out for a good slurp. The curry broth is spot on. Perfect depth and richness, savory and slightly sweet. I can eat here again. They ask if I would like a touch more heat and bring me a nice little selection of hot condiments. That earns them points in my book. I prefer a red chili oil and often, if a place has hot sauce, it's just one kind.
Yes my nose runs like a dog escaping the animal control truck, Like an old tent in a rainy wood. But not so hot I can't taste the curry, the crunch of red onion, the fresh lime. Jeez, I'm making. myself hungry again just thinking about it.
Right down to the last ever-loving drop. It reminds me of my adventuring youth when I kicked around Asia on a hope and a dream. For so many years after those carefree days, you could not find good Thai, or Vietnamese anywhere this side of the globe... The same can be said for tea. In those days if you wanted a good cup of tea you had to leave the country.
Thank you Kindee for a great lunch.
Good food and good service. Try the pineapple fried rice!
Ordered from here for the first time yesterday and was impressed. The purple yam ice cream is amazing. The bbq chicken is huuuge and has no right being sooo delicious and moist/tender! The kabocha curry only has two scallops, which is a bummer, but is otherwise tasty. The lychee in it burst in your mouth, which is fun.
They were very fast with our take out. And all of our food delicious, especially the bbq chicken. Its nice having this quality of Thai on this side of town.
I have eaten here multiple times over the last 3 years and thought it is about time I wrote a review. Food and service are always consistently good. My favorites are the duck curry and the avocado green curry which I order most of the time. I have also tried the pad Thai and pad se ew which are both excellent. The only mediocre dish I tried several years ago was a dish with mussels which were not fresh. Friends and family have all enjoyed the dishes they ordered. For me , I would say this is hands down my favorite Thai restaurant in the Portland-Vancouver area(Note that I have not eaten at all Thai restaurants in the area). Just my opinion. Fresh ingredients, good portions, good friendly service. I would highly recommend this place.
Fresh food, nice service. Not mind blowing but definitely a solid choice.
I would say it does irk me a bit when their staff parks in the front row outside the restaurant.
Such yummy food! We got the Shrimp Salad Rolls, Chicken Pad Thai and a side of White Rice. We really enjoyed each dish and the Peanut Sauce they provide with the Shrimp Rolls was great.
I ordered the crab puffs and the pad kee mao. Both were wonderfully prepared. The food hit the spot and they got my request for medium heat perfect. Nest Thai I've had in a long time and it will be back!
Our go to Thai restaurant.
Best Thai food in the area. A lot of other Thai restaurants like Thai Bloom have very oily food and use to much fish sauce but this place has a nice balance of flavors, my favorite is the drunken noodles.
Food and service was excellent. We will go back again.
Really good good!!!
Fast, friendly, tasty food. It's a smaller restaurant, but that isn't a problem.
We love Kindee Thai its our go to for Thai food. They have the best Pad Thai..I am a returning customer & will continue to go back. Also I just learned today after picking up my order that ALL staff are fully Vaccinated which makes me feel very safe to eat there. Also shows they care about themselves & the community. THANK YOU so Much!
This place has great Thai food and I’d love to eat here more often but… I really wish their peanut sauce didn’t have fish sauce in it. So many other Thai restaurants have vegan peanut sauce for their Pad Thai and salad rolls but this place doesn’t for some reason. C’mon Kindee Thai, please offer a vegan version of your peanut sauce!
Best Thai food I have had in a very long time . I haven't cleaned my plate is years and tonight I did just that. 6 stars .
Excellent quality entrees and good service. We'll definitely be back!
One of my favorite thai places to eat at! I love their food!!
Best Thai food that I have had in Vancouver so far. Definitely get the Basil Fried Rice and Mango Sticky Rice with Ube Ice Cream. It has become out go-to place for takeout and sometimes with dine at the restaurant, too, especially when we have guests in town. Absolutely delicious!
Great flavor, great decor and prompt, courteous service.
Small Thai food restaurant tucked into a Safeway anchored shopping area, delicious. Definitely coming back!
Our favorite! The best kao soi in the area, staff are great and the restaurant is clean and fresh
It's been over three years that we've been ordering from this restaurant. Kindee has never disappointed us!
The Basil Fried Rice, with chicken and extra vegetables... Oh my.... Simply the BEST fried rice ever!!
Thank you Kindee for being amazing!
This is still my kids favorite Thai restaurant. It's what they always ask for and we are always happy with our food and the quick, polite service.
For the price portions are very small. I live 3 blocks away and the Tom yum soup was lukewarm when I got home. The fried rice seemed like it was half portion. The yellow curry didn’t have too much flavor.
Excellent family owned restaurant the food was flavorful and freshly made. If you like Thai cuisine you'll be happy with Kindee!!!
We have been getting take out for a few years and always satisfied with the food ! Great yellow curry chicken !
I love theor fried tofu and zen noodle
Food taste good but portions are so small. I always order chicken green curry and theres always barely any meat in it.
Worst service ever. Forgotten the whole time. I also went there to pick up a to go order and ordered double beef and got home to find out it was just a few pieces of meat. Was charged extra for something I could've got for regular price. Never going here again. I do not suggest wasting your time or money at Kindee Thai.
Enjoyed appetizers and entrees to go. Fresh ingredients and generous entrees. Good value. You can choose the heat level - fantastic! A shame there was a mix up on an app order - might be wise to double check items on your way out.
Will definitely be dining with them again.
And overall pleasant experience at Kindee Thai. The Larb was a bit on the salty side but hey, it's an Asian restaurant, what do you expect. The crispy duck wasn't too dry like often happens with this recipe and was paired with a tasty, mild Curry sauce. I'll be ordering that one again.
The salmon Pra Ram with peanut sauce was delicious except for one issue with the salmon being overcooked and dry. I'll have to remind them not to overcook it next time.
Thai iced coffee is extremely sweet, be prepared for that.
The Tom kha soup was spot-on and the main reason why, along with the prompt courteous service, I will be returning
Great food and fast service.
Tasted very good but with takeout you didn't get utensils
Food is just ok, but the prices are a rip off.
Had the crispy duck curry. All the food we ordered was very good. Friendly staff.
Food is absolutely amazing. Consistently excellent and we have lots of options for this type of food in Seattle. Honestly a bug plus for me having moved to this neighborhood! Thanks Kindee!
Edit: update a year and a half later... We eat here once a month. It ranges from really good to mind blowing every time. Kindee is a highlight of the neighborhood, yum!
Freshest and tastiest Thai food in Vancouver! Try the wings and half chicken.
We just ordered take out fuor 4 of us. 2 orders were crispy duck. Once we were home the star of the show was the crispy duck...the Pad Thai was really good too but the crispy duck was phenomenal. It was my first time there. Well be back.
My favorite is the peanut sauce
