Homey, neighborhood nook with a folksy atmosphere offering classic Thai meals to eat in or take out.
My favorite Thai spot in Spokane, its a small family-owned restaurant. The only downside is that the food can be a bit inconsistent—especially the Thai iced tea, which can vary a lot in sweetness! But their drunken noodles are always a hit. They also offer a lunch combo set, and I usually go for the curry and drunken noodle combo. It’s great because you get to enjoy two classic dishes in one meal!
I got an invite to lunch to try out Phonthip and was excited because I've seen this place for quite some time and always wondered about it. It is a smaller restaurant, with low lighting and a traditional atmosphere. The service was great and the staff was friendly and efficient. I ordered Panang Curry with chicken, and I got a 3 star. It was portioned perfect for an individual meal and had a nice light spice. I wish I had asked for a 5 star, but I've been to other places that make it so spicy you sweat. Lol! It had a really nice flavor and was pretty tasty! My aunt ordered the pineapple rice with chicken. It was a generous serving and had a good flavor as well. She really enjoyed it. The iced Thai tea was so good and tasted the same as other places I've been. I will definitely be back. If you haven't tried this local little gem, you should absolutely do so.
I visited this cozy establishment on my first week in Spokane and I was really satisfied with both the food quality and service. The lady who greeted us is really lovely and welcoming! The tom kha was hot and perfect for this chilly season. I also tried the massaman curry with chicken which was delicious. The portions are a bit smaller than what I’ve seen on other places but I think the price is still good. Me and my husband spent less than $40 and we still got double rice portions and an iced tea.
Service is good. Atmosphere unremarkable. Food was fine in quality but tiny portions for a big price. $20 before tip for a small plate of food? Even in Seattle you can do better.
They have two rating pages on Google map. The other one was rated 4.6 and now this is rated 4.9 cause it’s new! It might have been due to change of ownership. I got drunken noodle and it was horrible. I ended up just eating the chicken pieces which were so few that I had to fish for it. There are flies in there that sat on my dish and that was when I stopped and showed it to her but she just brought the bill. ~$18 and some for a full dish of noodles with 6 peace as of bell pepper and 5 or less super small pieces of chicken with out any other ingredients is not good! I do not recommend this place at all!
I didn't even realize I was that fat until the waitress told me. Over, and over again... Food was tasty. Portions are small. Staff is friendly?
I’ve been to Thailand. This is the best Thai in Spokane
I love this restaurant. I have been 3 times and every time I love it. To start the people are great, I always learn a little something about Thai food chatting with the employees. The Pad Thai is great, never mushy and not too sweet. The pad see ew, is cooked to perfection, crisp broccoli and some charming on the noodles. The basil stir fry sauce is amazing.
So many good things to eat. This is as good or better than any Thai place in Seattle. I think the best in Spokane.
Update Feb 2025. Still as good as ever and I think the prices seem lower, so that is always a treat. Tried pumpkin curry, interesting, worth a try, but I still prefer Panang. This visit we had the best pad see ewe we have ever had.
I didn't even realize I was that fat until the waitress told me. Over, and over again... Food was tasty. Portions are small. Staff is friendly?
Authentic, ,delicious , simple service. Hot and fresh food. We had pineapple rice and mass Aman curry. At a 3 star it was just the right kick! I wished we lived closer but worth the drive!
Quite possibly the best Pad Thai I’ve ever had. And it’s my favorite dish to order in a Thai restaurant!
One of the best places you can go to for Thai food. I hope this place never changes definitely give it a try you won't regret it
Most kindest and friendliest Thai ladies. The food is amazing and closest you can get to being in Thailand.

The best locally owned Thai in Spokane. A small business with great Thai food.
Service is good. Atmosphere unremarkable. Food was fine in quality but tiny portions for a big price. $20 before tip for a small plate of food? Even in Seattle you can do better.
Small dining room but the food is fantastic!
I asked for chicken on the side because my wife is vegetarian and they said that was fine but when I went home. It was cooked into the food.
I've been to Thailand 8 times and the first bite of my green curry transported right back to Thailand.
Best Thai in town. Tom Kha soup and Pad Thai are my favorites.
Super solid Thai food, always tasty, amazingly friendly staff.
Great food, staff super humble and courteous! Most def a place for husband and wife to enjoy a great mean and time together!

A simply delightful meal made by great people. Haven't tried anything on the menu I didn't like!
First time here and was so amazing love food love service love atmosphere I will be coming back for all our date night. 💗💗💗💗

Every bite is perfect. From the pad thai or panang curry to mango sticky rice for dessert, we can’t get enough. Authentic and quality Thai food. Coming back soon.
We have been here before and it was so delicious. Everything tasted homemade about 5 years ago. Maybe new owners because everything tasted watered down and the green beans were frozen type instead of fresh. Pretty disappointing.
The food is really good and the service also good. Nice place. ♥️
Very sweet, friendly, and attentive. The dishes we ordered were delicious!!
Best Thai food in town.
We ordered pad thai, curry and pineapple fried rice takeout from here tonight, and all of it was soooo delicious!
This is by far the best Thai restaurant in Spokane, nothing comes close. Highly recommend 👍
Best authentic Thai food in Spokane
Excellent food, fresh made with love. Quaint atmosphere. I had the steamed dumplings and broccoli delight. Yum. I'll be back someday.
I can't believe I've never eaten here before! Great customer service, and the food!!! Is so good and flavorful! I can't even begin to express just how good the food is.10/10 will definitely be here again and more often.
Everything was fabulous. The quality of ingredients, the service and the atmosphere was great. Will return, often. Love, love, loved this place and the employees.
Nice little restaurant with awesome food. 👌
Delicious food !
Drunken noodle. You will never be the same!
The restaurant is small and comfortable, well decorated, and cozy. This is my favorite restaurant in town :) friendly and accommodating staff. I bring everyone I know to Phonthip when I get the chance
One of my favorite regular restaurants.
Small restaurant but no complaints as it was a peaceful experience. The food was delicious, and the service was quick. The lady who helped us was very attentive. I ordered the Tom Kha soup with chicken and was very surprised that I finished it because, for me, it was a big serving. If you don't like coconut milk, I dont recommend it, but besides that, I was also asked if I would like my soup spicy. If you know me I love spicu food. The shrimp rolls were also tasty.
Such good food!!!
I had Pad Thai it was very very good. Very small restaurant but very good.
Loved it, everything was good and the folks were nice. Will go again. Had pork green curry with rice.
First time here, Very happy with the Service and Food !! Had the drunken noodle and panang curry lunch special, We both were Very happy with the pleasant environment, Service, and food Quality , will definitely go again next trip to Spokane
Best Pad Thai I’ve had in Spokane. GF broke up with me over text during the meal. Unrelated, but the complex flavors really made the situation palatable.
I used to go here when the original owner had it. The food was amazing. On this visit, not so much. New owners? New crew? New recipes? This place now has that Great Value thai taste. Maybe get a new cook. Something is off about it. Thai bamboo is way better. This place use to be better than Thai bamboo. Sad
What a lovely owner she was just as sweet as can be and very much cared for her food and who's eating it. Delicious for sure.
Authentic. Thai mom, small kitchen, and so good.
Been here twice now as I like to try it a few times before leaving a review. The restaurant itself isn’t anything fancy but the food is always delicious. I’ve been to a few different spots around town and this is by far my favorite. Definitely located in an odd spot but worth stopping by.
They have two rating pages on Google map. The other one was rated 4.6 and now this is rated 4.9 cause it’s new! It might have been due to change of ownership. I do not recommend this place at all!
Had the dumplings, tom kha, and drunken noodles. Amazing!
Came to support this local favorite and we were not disappointed. The women running this small restaurant are so nice and pleasant. The food was hot, delicious and had so many veggies which we love. Will be back, thank you!
Great Thai food. I am vegan so loved the tofu dishes but my friends said the chicken was juicy and delicious. Totally worth the visit.
Super quick and good service. The pad se ew was flavorful, but no spiciness options were mentioned so we could've used a lot more spice on everything
Favorite Thai food in the Spokane area!
Such a delicious, local spot. Drunken noodles are impeccable, the ambiance is delightful (though tables are small) and takeout is a breeze. Can’t recommend their flavors more!!
Great food!
I've never been disappointed! everywhere else has off days, not these guys. recommend the beef drunken noodles, and the chicken pad tai, and beef pad see ew.
This place is AMAZING!!!! I would eat here for ever meal if I could
To start the Atmosphere is cute and quint. The people are nice 👌 and the food is sooooo bomb 💣. The service was amazing 👏. The food was hot 🔥 and plates 🍽 came out fast . I can't wait to go back to try another entrée!!!
Great food, great service. Love the dumplings and Pad Thai.
These ladies are so sweet and this Thai is the #1 in spokane
Such an amazing place. My wife and I get the drunken noodles and fried rice. It is awesome! Great food, highly recommend
Don’t let the location fool you! It is indeed NOT a part of the hair place next door 🙃 Food was delightful! I had the (medium-spicy) massaman chicken curry and the kids had beef fried rice. My picky 7 year old surprised me asking for THIRDS he enjoyed it that much. The sweet ladies here were attentive and made sure I did not need to ask for anything. Highly recommend this hole in the wall, kid friendly, gem of a restaurant!
Good food, good service.
Food was hot and fresh, shrimp was not over cooked. And when I ordered Thai spicy, I had Thai spicy. Highly recommended!
Hidden gem, will make accommodations for nut allergies, food was so good and had big portions. My favorite part was you get to set how spicy your meal is on a scale from 1-5, wish I had gone with a 3 instead of a 2, but it was still really good.
Service was great! Food was FANTASTIC!!! Fresh, flavorful, and so delicious!!! I can’t wait to go back!
Best Thai food in the whole area! The women who run this restaurant are amazing. The prices are good for what you get as well. It will forever be my favorite place to go when I'm craving curry, Pad Thai or drunken noodles.
Pretty delicious. Served quick. A little costy, cozy but good. Delicious and okay serving sizes. Wish there were refils on the Thai tea. No kid or American options!
Very good Thai food, will be back!
You defnitely need to try Phonthip... in fact I can only think of 3 Tai restaurants in Spokane I'd consider 5 star. Do yourself a favor, add a tai iced tea to your order 🤤
beef drunken noodles
beef patstsiu?
chicken phad tai
mango sticky rice
all their Currys
Ok
Very nice place with great Thai food. I love love love the Tom Kah soup!
Delicious :)
Very delicious food, we will visit again. Thank you!!
Very good food. I love it
Always good food at this location. South hill location is hit or miss.
5 extra dollars for 3 pieces of BS shrimp. If you order for delivery don't add anything. Rip off.
This place is straight delicious 🔥! One of the sweetest little ladies that works there even opened the door for me when I went to leave. Now I'm a regular. I give it a 5/5. Thank you Phonthip🥰!
So good! Favorite Thai restaurant in town.
The drunken noodle and panang curry are to die for. Best Thai food in Spokane and our favorite local to visit. The staff is so nice and inviting. Always good, but it's amazing when the owner cooks for you.
Small place, service can be slow. The food is made fresh and has all the bits and pieces you would expect (chunks of galangal and lemongrass in the Tom Kah)
Delicious, authentic Thai food! The tom kha gai had great flavor (they use lemon grass, galangal, and lime leaves) and the spice was good (note: the medium is on the mild side, so if you like heat, be sure to request hot). Pad kee mao (drunken noodles) were also amazing. Service was gracious. I will definitely be back!
I like this hole in the wall a lot. They do some things way better than others in the area. The dumplings are tasty.
One suggestion though is on very busy holidays they might fail a little. Had some not fully done dumplings and communication troubles by the fill in person. It just wasn’t the same quality that time.
Great food from a great place. Look forward to going back!
Absolutely delicious.
Best Thai food in Spokane
Best Thai food in Spokane!
Friends and I dined here recently for lunch. Quick service and delicious food. Small dining area.
The people who run this restaurant are super friendly. Restaurant is very clean and the food is amazing!!!
Very delicious food and large portions! It was a quiet and homey space.
They answered the phone right away and took our order. It was done on time and warm. Slightly on the more expensive side for pad Thai.
The massama curry was hot and slightly sweet; super flavorful. One of the best.
Over 18$ for one? Really needed a bit more rice as I'm a male of average weight and height.
I don’t normally post reviews, but the food I received was so bad that I feel obligated to share. The food was super bland and frankly overpriced. Drunken noodles were the worst I’ve ever had. This dish is supposed to be spicy. There was not one piece of chili in the entire thing. Golden Tofu appetizer: $10.95 for 8 tiny pieces of tofu! Are you kidding me? The Pad Thai had Zero flavor. None. All the 5 star ratings lead me to believe they we’re having an off night, but I certainly won’t risk it again.
Get the Pad See Ew
Thai Basil and panang curry 5 star, awesome food
Rock solid. Order as many dishes as you can and share them.
Very good Thai food. Prompt and friendly service. Quaint little place.
Too expensive for what you get
Tried every current Thai food establishments in Spokane...not only is it my fav, but my 6 yr old prefers this restaurant over all others. It's small...but with food that good...who cares?!
Wow, excellent food
This is the only place in town that I go to for Thai cuisine. I have tried multiple other Thai restaurants in the area and none are as authentic to what I got used to when living in Bangkok many years ago. We always get chicken red curry and they allow us to substitute the bamboo shoots with beans. There mango sticky rice is also exceptionally good and so is there Thai iced tea. It's not the prettiest place inside, but who cares when you get great tasting food. Most of the time we do take out and it is always ready by the time we get there. Very nice people. Love going there.
Really good food here.
The Panag Curry is wonderful!
So good! I want it all for myself!
I almost don’t want to tell people how good this place is because it’s already so popular that it’s hard to get in on the weekends. Yet somehow they always still serve with a smile! We love this place and order almost monthly. It’s our go-to when we can’t decide on dinner.
Em rocks. Give her tips.
Never had a mixed up order. They do a good job with what I ordered from their menu, love their food.
On another notem...,,, I read alot of bad reviews and wonder how many of them are fake??
How about Google change their reviews to only show their order that they got and their receipt, "of course hide sensitive parts" . That way they can tell if reviews is fake or real, Or do something to verify what they say is true.
Absolutely adorable restaurant with the most delicious Thai in Spokane. Everything they make is fantastic.
Phonthip style Thai has the best Tom Kha soup I’ve ever had! Incredibly flavorful and rich, I absolutely loved it. Everything else I’ve tried on the menu has been perfect as well. It’s a very small restaurant but has been nice to eat in as well as take out.
Our favorite Thai restaurant in Spokane, WA. We don't go anywhere else for Thai food.
My favorite Thai place in Spokane hands down. Super authentic and a cute little secluded spot. Perfect for take out or date night :-) I will keep coming back and referring others here! I’m never disappointed
Been giving this place "one more chance" for a while because the food is genuinely good, but they've messed up our order so many times that I don't want to waste money there anymore. Very disappointing, but noodles that come in a giant gummy ball aren't appetizing, and leaving things out of the order and doing nothing about it isn't a good business model.
I love little local places like this. Their customer service was great and the food was really really good! I got the pumpkin curry and the mango rice for dessert. Their dine in space is very small and quaint and the decor is really nice.
Fresh and flavorful. The dining room is a little tight . So I wouldn't suggest bringing a group larger than four. I'll definitely be giving these guys a call for take out!
Great little restaurant
Amazing Thai food i had Pineapple fried rice with chicken. Excellent proportions, prompt service and food was fast to our table
Owner is very friendly checks on you frequently and knows her regular customers by name. I was so excited with my food i forgot to take pictures.
best thai food ive ever tasted
Very flavorfull, good amount of veggie colors cooked to perfection.
Bad a/c but great food !
Simple restaurant that serves tasty, very well spiced thai food. Like homemade.
I've been to Thailand, this is my go to Thai restaurant. Panang curry is my weakness and it's close to authentic. Some peppers are probably harder to come by in the states.
The food here was awful! My daughter and I went because I had heard the food was good. I gave an extra star for the waitress. Will not be back.
Had shrimp rolls, green and red curry, and mango sticky rice to go.
Shrimp rolls were ok, green curry was pretty good, red curry was too salty to even take a few bites. Mango sticky rice tasted the best out of all.
My wife and I wanted Thai food,so my wife looked up the highest rated Thai restaurants, and came across Phonthip Style Thai Restaurant on East Francis. The building and parking lot don’t look the greatest, and inside it is pretty small, and really old looking. But the smell of the food is incredible. The service was good.Really friendly waitress who was also one of the cooks. There was a lot of to go orders while we were there. The food was fresh and hot,and was very good.Probably the best Thai food I have ever had.I had the Pad Thai with beef,we had the Tom Ka soup, which was very good.My wife had Thai Basil, which was vegetables in a brown colored sauce and she had it with shrimp, and it was really great in her opinion. She enjoyed the fresh basil in it.
2 stars because the meat was not rancid. I came on on a Thursday, at 2:28 pm. Lunch special runs from 11 to 3. But not for me. No, they don’t have any lunch specials. I ordered my 2 favorite things. Chicken Panang ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice level, and Spicy Beef Nam Tok, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. $14 each. For lunch. Please see photos. I asked to add spring rolls. $8, never mind. I ordered to go on a very warm warm afternoon, she never offered any water or anything. Didn’t ask what kind of rice, which was ok, because I wanted jasmine rice anyway.
The interior is like a badly decorated ball park ticket counter. The Nam Tok had a little spice, maybe a 1.5, and the a Panang had none. It tastes like pumpkin. Like they had leftover pumpkin for another dish and they didn’t think I would notice. It has ONE, I counted, ONE red bell pepper slice and no other vegetable at all. The meat was cooked fresh today, that is the only reason for the 2 stars. For $28, that should be a dinner portion. Also, one of the best parts about Nam Tok is the crushed rice powder. But there is 0. And there is no mint, and there is no cilantro, there is no lime. No where resembles Nam Tok. . And they made it with lettuce, as some do instead of cabbage that stands up to the other ingredients instead if getting soggy in the first 5 minutes. )
I would say you may get a vague sense if what Thai food is supposed to be like, but wow, what a big surprise when you go to another place that actually serves everyone the same quality of Thai food . If you a appear to be too white and nerdy, you are going to be taken advantage of in many ways. Buyer beware.
Very excited to find a great Thai restaurant in the Spokane area. High quality flavors and actual 3-star heat! Phonthip style Thai Restaurant is worth coming back to. We make a point of stopping in each time we're in Spokane.
We had spring rolls, the ginger entree, and pad thai with a side of peanut sauce. All was delicious, prices were fair, great service and I like the vibe of the restaurant- quaint but not funky. Will be back!
This is a family owned restaurant. Not some cheap knockoff like Panda Express to Chinese food.
Rad Na is my favorite go to dish when I don't know what I want. Being allergic to onions, I miss out on a lot of flavor for a lot of things. But I can always count on this wonderful family to accommodate my annoying allergy. Not once have they ever slipped up when I ordered something that normally contains my allergen. Whereas I've had to send food back at big name restaurants.
The servings may seem small but in reality they're the same size as your ordinary bowl for cereal. The staff are very friendly and their establishment clean. It's very small but, to me, it feels like a family residence. I've tried other Thai restaurants around town and honestly this is the best one. For one thing you don't have to spend time recutting your veggies to be able to take a bite.
This place is bs. Just paid 15 dollars for pork fried rice. Love the food but come on seriously??
One of the best places in Spokane to get Thai food.
OMG. SO GOOD.!!!
Finally, a restaurant that serves delicious pad thai and the garlic, oyster broccoli is good as well. I will be ordering from here exclusively for my Thai food cravings.
Most amazing dumplings, awesome shrimp rolls and delicious fried rice. My new go to place!!
Love their food. One of the best authentic Thai restaurants in town.
Has some of the freshest food and M is very friendly 😋😁
Food and service is Always Great!!! Prices are very reasonable as well. Highly recommend!!
This little whole in the wall family run restaurant is a gem! Have regularly ordered dinner over the years both dining in before Covid and takeout since and have never had a bad meal! Excellent food!
Had to review this place because I am picky with Thai food. It’s hard to find the good stuff! This place nailed it. It was delicious! The food was very flavorful and tasty and you could tell that they put a lot of thought into each dish. Also, very friendly staff. Definitely would recommend.
Contact information is no longer accurate, but the restaurant is still operational.
Clean, friendly, good food!
We love this place. No matter where we live, we make the drive to get the awesome Pad Thai. The staff is super kind and always accommodating. ❤️
Phonthip was amazing as always! Can't get any more authentic, or friendly in town. This time of year do yourself a treat, and stop for a bowl of their pumpkin curry. Fantastic!!!
Always a fan of the Pumpkin Curry! I've never been disappointed here!
Best kept secret in Spokane Thai restaurant scene. Tiny venue (5 tables), but giant flavors!! You wont be sorry!
Just didn't taste right.....the meat was off?
They must think white people of spokane will eat anything boring flavorless this not good thai food...if you think it is....well..
Great authenitic thai food. Specify your spice preference or it will be really spicy.
I really wanted to give them five stars because it's a nice family feel restaurant. But, the food needed more flavor and the green beans in the curry seemed like an after thought.
Very good food and the owners are nice. They seemed to be really busy when we went around 4pm, so i think next time we will just order take-out.👍
We’ve eaten here several times now. Always very delicious! Prompt service and affordable as well!
Great and delicious food!!
I tried this place during the lockdown and I’m very happy that I did! I ordered the pad thai and mango sticky rice and it was all delicious! I look forward to coming here again!
