Diner Review №2

Great Thai food, I think they changed owners again, but retained their awesome tasting food

Diner Review №3

Great food and attentive service.

Diner Review №4

This is BY FAR the best "pad see-EW" and "pad kee Mao" that I have found anywhere in the country. I used to eat here frequently but moved back to the midwest...after 5 years of anticipation, I finally got back and stopped in to the Basil Leaf. It was exactly how I remembered it....spectacular!!! Don't ever change your recipe!!!

Diner Review №5

Absolutely love this restaurant they are super friendly. I stop by every other day and order the vegetable pad ginger number four spicy with extra ginger. Absolutely love it.

Diner Review №6

Just finished first dinner of chicken pad Thai at Basil Leaf. This could be the worst meal I’ve ever had. Two orders totaling $37 of nothing but noodles and dried out chicken. So disappointed!

Diner Review №7

Avocado curry was different but absolutely delicious. This food is made with love!
can’t wait to try more of their menu.
#FISHCAKE!

Diner Review №8

The absolute best Thai I have honestly had in my life. I have taken all of our friends and family here and we all agree that we can never eat anywhere else! Family run place ♥️

Diner Review №9

We get the best Thai food here! They are polite and very friendly. The portions are very good size we usually have leftovers for at least another meal!

Diner Review №10

Amazing food!!! Just tried a bunch of random things and o god it’s amazing!! Highly recommend the avocado curry with scallops and the eggplant pad per with chicken!!! 🤤 the address took me the wrong place just walk around the corner from grocery outlet and you’ll see it!

Diner Review №11

The iced Thai tea and the fresh spring roll were great. However, even one star was way too spicy. If I visit again, I will request no added spice. The people were very nice.

Diner Review №14

I don't know why I forget about this place, the food is good. I forgot to take a pic of the fresh rolls, I order then every time, sometimes I go there just for them! They are my fave! Other dishes are tasty too.

Diner Review №20

Kind people, great service and delicious choices.

Diner Review №21

Best Thai food in Olympia!

Diner Review №22

Diner Review №23

Diner Review №24

Service is quite variable. Sometimes it is prompt. Sometimes it is very slow. Best to order take-out. Food is uneven in quality. Sometimes fairly good. Often cost of the food is not worth the quality. The business seems understaffed and struggling.

Diner Review №25

best thai food in olympia

Diner Review №26

Diner Review №27

My wife and I are fairly regular customers. I most often get pad-see-uh and her favorite is the Thai noodles always with fresh roll spring rolls and peanut sauce too. Full of flavor and excellent. Never been a disappointment.

Diner Review №28

I am addicted to their fresh rolls.

Diner Review №29

Can you please update your prices on your menus in the restaurant, online & your lunch menu. It's very confusing. I ordered Swimming Rama for lunch & although the presentation was nice the food was just meh.

Diner Review №30

I wanted a simple dish chicken fried rice she said they can make it and it wasn't what I expected I can't say I'll go back don't waste your time save your money

Diner Review №31

Diner Review №32

The first thing I noticed was the cracked window and awful smell walking next to this place. But I figured some of my best food experiences has been in “hole in the wall” locations. I made the mistake of not triple checking the menu prices because I was not expecting it to be double my estimated prices. And honestly for an appetizer and one meal, $40 is too much.

The food itself was okay at best. It is pretty hard to be worse than the food I ate in arkansas but miraculously this place exceeded my expectations by letting me down more than I could’ve imagine.

Diner Review №33

Diner Review №34

VEGANS - must stop and eat. Kids loved the pad see ew and I had the drunken tofu, delicious! Great started with spring rolls and fresh rools too!!

Diner Review №35

We have only done take out and it is by far our favorite Thai restaurant. The fresh rolls are the best I have had! My husband loves their green curry. When picking up the staff are always very friendly. Highly recommend giving them a try!

Diner Review №36

Diner Review №37

Service to slow 🐌 😴 food okay

Diner Review №38

If you are searching for amazing Thai food, look no further... the food has been absolutely delicious every time I've ordered from Basil Leaf Restaurant.
One of my favorite dishes is #10, TomKah. This coconut milk based soup includes a protein (I prefer chicken), mushroom, onion, and tomatos with superb flavors. Lime leaf, lemongrass, and galangal (a root similar to ginger) add the perfect blend of flavor. For those who haven't tried this soup, you can remove these as they are there to add flavor rather than consume, like a bay leaf. It is served with rice on the side, which I recommend adding to your soup bowl to soak up some of the broth.
The noodle dishes #36, Pad Thai, and #39, Rama Noodle, are perfect. I order a side of peanut sauce to go with either of these dishes.
All of the curries are delicious...try the Avocado Curry! Yum.
The stir-fry #26, Pad Ped Thai Eggplant, is also amazing. As with most dishes you will choose a protein; tofu, chicken, beef, or pork. You can substitute prawns, calamari, or scallops for $2.50, or a seafood combo for $3.50.
I know this is long, but if you've read to here, I hope you have found it helpful. You won't be disappointed with Basil Leaf!

Diner Review №39

The challenge with spicy scales are what is a two star in a location may be a three elsewhere. The food was just a tad bit spicy than I expected but not enough to complain. Next time I return I just need to scale accordingly. Service was excellent and very friendly staff. This place is super clean. Fresh rolls had a bit too much Lettuce but still tasty.

Diner Review №40

Diner Review №41

Wow, what horrible customer service by the owner. She was rude, condescending, and petty! We spent $65 for lunch yesterday, and the owner complained and questioned each time we requested additional napkins, bowls for soup, and even a plastic bag which wanted to put our to go containers in. Not only that, but she asked why we had used up all the chilli sauce. And when I was reviewing my bill, she made this snarky remark about how she had not over charged. Of course I'm going to review the bill considering how petty she was.

Not only that, but the prices of the various entrees we ordered were ridiculously high and the food just mediocre.

Not going to this place ever again.

Diner Review №42

Love this place.

Diner Review №43

Food very good, however, do not order fresh spring rolls as they are 95% shredded lettuce. I was very disappointed.

Diner Review №44

Diner Review №45

I have a slight issue with green dye in the green curry, but thats my personal aesthetic. The food tasted great!

Diner Review №46

The lunch specials here are insane. Great quality and quantity for price. Just about everything is ready in 10-15 minutes so it's great for take-out or a quick dine in before your bus arrives.

Diner Review №47

Great food. Good rich flavor. A lot of options too, from Thai curries and soups to Pho.
The price is a bit high, but not ridiculous compared to a lot of restaurants these days.

Diner Review №48

Diner Review №49

Diner Review №50

Diner Review №51

If I could leave less than one star I would.

Diner Review №52

BEWARE! Online prices have not been updated. I did an online order and when I picked my order up it was $15.00 more than I expected for 3 dishes. The larb salad was 90% shredded lettuce with a couple spoonfuls of larb on top. The prikking with green beans was mostly vegetables with canned or frozen green beans, not fresh beans. The fried won tons were soggy. It is obvious that they are cutting corners to survive. I will never go there again. It's dishonest to put cheap online prices to get people to come in and then gouge them!!! And the food wasn't good either.

Diner Review №53

Pricy compare to food portion

Diner Review №54

Diner Review №55

Asked for 0-1 spice, tasted like 10. Had to ask for everything. More water, napkins, plates for sharing our food. Not good service.

Diner Review №56

I'm saddened by the quality meal we were served this evening. We used to order here all the time, especially at the beginning of the pandemic. Food was always fresh and hot and full of flavor. Unfortunately tonight that wasn't the case. My partner ordered the Pad See You and there was no flavor, which usually packs a punch. We also ordered a chicken saute skewer thing and they were so dry it didn't even look like chicken anymore. Think evening shell station right before they throw out the hot case. The reason I'm giving three stars is dispite the issues with the other two items, my chicken pad thai was as good as ever. Maybe tonight was just an off night I'm not sure. I still recommend this place. They're very kind and passionate restaurant owners.

Diner Review №57

Good customer service, clean and good food, they no show the price anywhere, so don't be surprise is a little expensive

Diner Review №58

I love the red curry chicken. I also love the Phad Se Ew. I know I butchered that last part. Anyway, I am glad that I found this place although with all the business i give them they never acknowledge me when I pick up my orders. Or even try to engage in a conversation. And that does bug me. And also, their prices have really really gone up. That was sadness because I usually order two things. But I just can't anymore. Darn you inflation! I would eat there every night if I could afford it.

Diner Review №59

The Pad Thai was possessed of an odd taste. The "barbeque chicken thigh" was exorbitantly priced and sad in its appearance. You can do better...

Diner Review №60

Diner Review №61

Diner Review №62

Extremely friendly staff, and super quick & prompt on fulfilling my order! The food is also absolutely delicious, as is the Thai Iced Tea! I ordered the Red Curry, and it is super good! :-)

Diner Review №63

Great food. A must try if you are in the area.

Diner Review №64

Diner Review №65

They charge you 1.00 for no ice. Food was super oily. Had no Thai iced coffee. Pad Thai was super sweet and oily. Don't recommend.

Diner Review №66

Diner Review №67

They make it just like my grandparents did and it's sooooo good. I come here weekly!

Diner Review №73

Mucho bueno!

Diner Review №74

Diner Review №75

My favorite Thai Restaurant in Olympia!

Diner Review №76

Mama Frid Rice it's more like boiled rice,..they simply don't care, there's not any consistently with food quality what or ever I will never ever going back, period.

Diner Review №77

Diner Review №78

Delicious curry and pad Thai and really great service!!

Diner Review №79

Used to come here a lot for lunch

Diner Review №80

My husband & I really love this restaurant. We’ve eaten here many times. The food is always delicious & the staff is always friendly.

Diner Review №81

AVOCADO CURRY BEST I HAVE EVER HAD!!! IT IS AMAZING!!! Definitely worth the price! It is so so so GOOD!!

Diner Review №82

Diner Review №83

I've been coming to this place for years, the food is decent, but the prices are ridiculous, I got a small thing of fried rice with with drink and it was 18 dollars, on top of that, the lady that's owns and works there is completely rude, they rip off their own community, and can not even treat the ones that support them nice, its a shame that such a good spot of realty is taken by such a poor managed and owned business, ill be spreading the word in hopes that this place will either change or end

Diner Review №84

Hands down Olympia's best Thai food. Always fresh, always so flavorful and fragrant! Super clean, well prepared, and for a place that cooks when you order, it is fast. I love their fresh rolls with chicken and prawns - tightly wrapped delicious romaine lettuce with the most delectable peanut sauce I have ever tasted! My favorite lunch special is the cashew chicken, which comes with vegetables roasted to perfection - still crunchy and fresh, and at the same time bursting with flavor. Their pad thai is dreamy and again a feast for the palate. They clearly know how to prepare food just right! My two favorites for low energy days or winter chills are Tom Kah and Tom Yum - if I get the Tom Yum at the onset of a cold, I don't get sick. Their fresh ingredients are working wonders. Since the pandemic I've been a regular here, and I don't get tired of it, which says a lot. So glad we have this gem here on the west side.

Diner Review №85

Pad Thai is dry. The pork in it was pretty good, but the noodles simply didn't have any flavor My Tom Kah had hair in it, as well as my wife's Pineapple Fried Rice. Wife's entree had shrimp, which was overcooked. Dry and bland. What's surprising is my wife reacts to MSG, and she started to feel ill shortly after eating her meal. Given that, I'm surprised the entrees were as bland as they were. Service was friendly and why I rated 2 stars instead of 1, but that doesn't make up for the bland and unhygienic food.

Diner Review №86

Diner Review №87

This was a popular place on a sunny afternoon. Great service with a creative menu but the rice was dry and the description of reach meal was fast nicer than the meal itself. Prices were reasonable for the area and it's a very nice, gentrified kind of street..

Diner Review №88

Delicious food made to order!

Diner Review №89

Diner Review №90

Excellent food!! Will be back again!

Diner Review №91

Diner Review №92

Great food, quick to pick up

Diner Review №93

Diner Review №94

I ordered chicken satay skewers for my hungry son. He loves the ones from Thai Garden but they were closed. These came in such a small portion I honestly thought the package was a utensil set wrapped in a napkin. I was worried about there being enough for my son so I begrudgingly ordered 2 more of these chicken satay skewer appetizers. After ringing me up the person running the cash register told me they were $10 a piece! What a rip. The skewers tasted like rubber pieces of leather and the second order took forever! I should have just gone downtown.

Diner Review №95

Diner Review №96

Great food. Only take out at this time. But I found the quality and taste of their food excellent.

Diner Review №97

Diner Review №98

I got the combination c4, it was the red curry and pad thai w/chicken it was really good one of the better pad thais in oly and ive tasted few, the red curry was nice and spicy with sweet coconut milk flavor, would order again ✌🏽❤️

Diner Review №99

The service is consistently friendly! I often visit with my energetic kids and am met with smiles and friendly small talk each time. And the food is amazing :) we’ve tried many of the local Thai and Vietnamese restaurants and this is at the top of our list.

Diner Review №100

One of our regular spots. The mom's fried rice and pad kee mow are favorites.

Diner Review №101

This place is consistent and always delish! The Massaman Curry is a MUST!

Diner Review №102

My favorite Thai spot in Olympia. Love the service. Support local business!

Diner Review №103

my favorite restaurant in the city!

Diner Review №104

The pad Thai was awesome!!!
A little spicy, not greasy, right amount of
Flavor and the chicken wasn’t dry!

Diner Review №105

Diner Review №106

We love coming here, miss the dine in experience but the Tai food is perfect! Try the Yum salad - my fave.

Diner Review №107

Best Thai in Olympia. Highly recommend!

Diner Review №108

This used to me one of my favorite spots, but they doubled the price of a lot of there foods, and put less product in there food. I ordered a seafood curry avocado, I go here purely for the avocado curry, they put barley any seafood in it, and I paid over 14 bucks for this food and it wasn’t even delivered to me. Then my friend ordered a pad se ew, sorry for spelling, expecting the dish to have some veggies in it, there was only three pieces of broccoli, and like for slices of carrots, the rest was just noodles. If your gonna charge this much for food, there needs to be quantity and quality. This was the most expensive meal iv bought from them ever and the dishes didn’t even come close to what we paid for. I understand it’s hard times, but if you all are gonna double the price your dishes you need to be sure you upholding your traditional dishes and not skipping out on quantity, or else this gonna out of business. And on top of all that you expect a tip? This was not even tip worthy food. And we have a good tip.
It’s actually disappointing.

Diner Review №109

Food wasn't that great not a lot of flavor and definitely needed a little salt. The spring rolls I ordered really didn't have a lot of filling in them.

Diner Review №110

Very long wait times!
The staff is dismissive and unprofessional.
Food is mediocre at best

Diner Review №111

Diner Review №112

Diner Review №113

Definitely the go to spot for thai in oly, the curries and noodles are both spot on! Lunch specials have fantastic deals too. Love all of the staff here, they are super kind and never judge me for picking up food once a week in my pajamas.
Also, outstanding thai iced tea

Diner Review №114

Their fresh rolls is good. However, I substitute the shrimp for chicken. Lunch specials good.

Diner Review №115

Diner Review №116

Has a great avocado curry

Diner Review №117

Overpriced small portions, slow service, food wasnt very good.. And heard a lot of coughing from the kitchen- made me very uneasy.

Diner Review №118

Diner Review №119

Diner Review №120

They got our order wrong and refused to make it right we ordered three beef pad Thai and she gave us chicken for all three. She said they won’t fix our order or give us a refund

Diner Review №121

Ordered takeout. They said it'd be 20 minutes. I arrived 20 minutes later. They weren't done, but its understandable to take a few minutes longer. When 30 minutes had passed. I asked where my food was because I had ordered it almost an hour ago. All she could say was sorry, sorry, we are busy. They were not busy, I was sitting there for 30 minutes and maybe 4 customers came through, all quickly leaving with their food after their 20 minute estimate. Finally 55 minutes after ordering she came out with my food. This is only the latest of a few very long waits I've had at Basil Leaf. You'd think with so much competition in the area, they would focus on customer service.

Diner Review №122

If I could leave less than one star I would. The food is decent at best which is the only semi-pleasant part of this dining experience. The customer service is genuinely horrible, the mess up my order constantly. The last time we went there we ordered “Pad See Ew” over the phone, when we arrived they had prepared the wrong food and when I told them it was wrong they literally would not make the correct order, over and over they said “just try it, you’ll like it.” Clearly just they did not make the effort to correct their mistake.
ZERO OUT OF TEN!

Diner Review №123

polite service. they work hard and are working hard through the pandemic. even with some longer wait times then usual, greatly appreciated. tasty food! (one req, need more filling inside the crab rangoon. had a couple pieces with close to zero filling).

Diner Review №124

Always delicious 💕

Diner Review №125

I eat here often. Great service. Kind employees. Yummi food.

Read Jake Volkmans review and about Gagged. Here we have a man allegedly that finds a hair in his food and claims Victim mentality. My oldest daughter finds a hair in her food and throws it on the floor in other restaurants and continues eating. Only thing I have to say is good job at running this restaurant and hats off to you for doing it in a super liberal-victimization mentality city. Olympia is a liberal sewer - I’ve been here since 1977. Cheers

Diner Review №133

Diner Review №134

Plenty of much better options around!

Diner Review №135

I keep wanting this place to be good... But its honestly terrible, and only suitable in extreme desperation, and even then... Just sayin...

Diner Review №136

Excellent food and prompt service. A little hole in the wall kind of feel to the whole place. Very welcoming.

Diner Review №137

I originally gave this place 5 stars, but I amended it because we had a negative experience here on our 5th visit. The food is actually good but the service varies with the server. When a hair got in our food, they didn't make it right and instead offered us more rice. That didn't sit well with us. We won't be back for a while but hope they read this and fix this issue for other patrons.

Diner Review №138

Diner Review №139

Diner Review №140

Had the giant prawns and was very happy with the crispy breading. Dipping sauce was sweet and tasty. Enjoyed the waitress who was learning English. If they had a more inspired music on the speakers it would have been even more enjoyable.

Diner Review №143

Diner Review №144

I don't often feel the need to review a restaurant, but tonight I just have to. I love good Thai food and over the years have realized that one factor holds true and that is if their appetizers are good generally everything else will be. That said I usually order satay to be my judge. This is why I won't eat at this restaurant again. When I received my satay the chicken skewers we're thin and extremely dry more like chicken jerky. The peanut sauce was alright but tasted factory made not in house. I ordered a side of rice and it was definitely over cooked. If you love good Thai I wouldn't recommend this place to you I definitely will not return.

Diner Review №145

It was good! Massaman curry thin, but good flavor! Down side, every dish had something stuck on it or was a little dirty.

Diner Review №146

Diner Review №147

Diner Review №148

Had my first experience asking for a refund at a restaurant today! Had the avocado curry just to try it out, but the expired avocado and chicken-stock broth were a real bummer. I asked for a replacement or refund, and was offered 50% off twice, until the owner came out and decided to just remove it from the bill. My partner's pad thai was unfortunately very sweet and mushy, so I can't say we had a great experience with the food or customer service, especially considering the price point. Hopefully this was a fluke, but, regardless, some disclosure on vegan/veggie content would be appreciated.

Diner Review №149

Best around and not crazy expensive.

Diner Review №150

Diner Review №151

Love the food and staff here. I usually order Fresh Rolls as an appetizer, they come with some of the best peanut sauce in Olympia and I use what's left over from that to pour on my order of Mom's Fried Rice with chicken. Very filling and always a good time when I come here.

Diner Review №152

Good food. Service not bad.

Diner Review №153

Amazing! Good food, good prices, fast service, very friendly staff! The place was clean and quite! Definitely will be going again!

Diner Review №154

Diner Review №155

Great authentic Thai food

Diner Review №156

Wine was oxidized and undrinkable. Crab wontons had less than a teaspoon of filling per. Noodles were mushy. Seafood pad thai had only 3 pieces of shrimp and 2 pieces of calamari. Our food order wasn't taken until we were finishing our app. Dishes were dirty. And to top it all off, ended up with multiple flies in my beer. This was the worst dining experience I've had in over a decade.

Diner Review №157

The lunch was very good! It was reasonably priced and ample portions. Will be going there again!

Diner Review №158

Basil Leaf is a family owned restaurant that gave us fast service and great food. They have a good variety of typical Thai eats. I would reccomend coming here for a quick lunch or easy night out.

Diner Review №163

Probably the one place I miss the most having moved away from that side of town. Sure, I have other places I like to go to now, and they are excellent as well. But the other places have their own specialties, and I loved the quick, affordable, quality Thai food for lunch.

There are a lot of other Thai places in town as well, and I like many of them, too. But they're mostly fancier dinner places with the associated costs. And/or they are more out of my way.

You just can't beat the quality for the cost of Basil Leaf. I look forward to the now-rare days I end up in the area during a meal time.

Diner Review №164

Try the Rad Nah (38) with deep fried egg noodles. You will not be disappointed.

Diner Review №165

Diner Review №166

Savory Pad Thai and interesting (tasty) avocado green curry. Basil leaf is a little expensive, but is the best Thai food in West side Olympia.

Diner Review №167

Diner Review №168

Good food

Diner Review №169

Very good food, small place, food took time but thats not a bad thing. Overall id definitely come again

Diner Review №170

This is the go to spot for Thai food and curries in West Olympia. The staff are friendly. Take out is fast. Great for small grouos and families.

Diner Review №171

Yum. Take your pick. Everything on the menu is good. I'm partial to their Pad Thai and red curry beef.

Diner Review №172

Diner Review №173

Yummy curry, swimming Roma, stick black rice coconut milk

Diner Review №177

Diner Review №178

My favorite thai place in Olympia, their soups and curries are to die for and even when it gets busy they keep up with the pace and get you your food quickly. I would argue the best thai in Olympia.

Diner Review №179

4 stars on just the take-out. I got the pad Thai and it was pretty good, but not the "best ever". Not as delicious as the veg fried rice, that was so yummy!

Diner Review №180

Always love eating here!

Diner Review №181

pad thai was too sweet ... a big miss on the balance of flavors. I ordered 4 stars but the spice was mild. The worst part .. the noodles that were way overcooked and mushy, my dish looked like I had ordered a casserole instead of the Pad Thai.

Diner Review №182

One of my favorite restaurants in the world! I've been to Thailand 6 times and this is still my favorite Thai place. Never disappoints. I've been coming here for over 5 years and the quality and service are always top notch. Their Avocado Curry is unparalleled and almost impossible to find elsewhere. They know how to cook tofu, which is amazing paired with their curries. Also highly recommend the Pad See Ew and the Squash Curry.

Hi you need people work

Diner Review №185

I love Thai food but this one I do not recommend one bit!!!!!!worst customer care experience ever!!!we get in and the lady asks us at the door "how can I help you??"really woman!my answer should have been "no we came here to admire your wall paintings!" Be kind and ask your customers where they would love to sit or something.
We go seat ourselves down and not even a glass of water. First of all the cloth she wipes our table with was so wet it left filthy streaks all over!
So not impressed.

Diner Review №186

Their red curry is awful. Not just bad, awful. One bite and I got pizza from next door. Waste of $10.

Diner Review №187

Diner Review №188

Diner Review №189

I was highly impressed with this place. Not a fan of Thai food but I got the mom’s fried rice with chicken and had the crab wontons. Wow the flavor was just beautiful, rice cooked perfectly, I also am recommending this place to anyone and hope they also have a great experience!

Diner Review №190

Red curry is white and too slurpy than it should be.. not worth it.
