Pineapple fried rice with chicken with pretty good, with quality ingredients. I went with very spicy, but the spice was limited. Would have liked a little bit more flavor.
The Thai tea with standard Thai tea, but a good amount in the glass.
The fried banana dessert with coconut ice cream with sweet, but that was to be expected. The coconut ice cream was amazing with little chunks of coconut inside.
Minus the lock of flavor profile with the pineapple fried rice with chicken, everything was amazing you know absolutely return.

Friendly service. Clean tables, seats, bathrooms, etc. Fresh and hot food with just the right heat as you'd expect if you'd sampled any Thai food previously.
*Edit add-on* 8/11/22. Spring rolls, Pad Thai and Curry was flavorful and hot. I've tried Thai and Curry from east coast US heading west to Japan and this is as good as I've had anywhere. First time wife was here and said it's better than the most recent Thai restaurant we frequented. Still 5*!

The Rangoons where okay, folded in half rather than quarters like the menu says. Best thing we ate there with the sauce being above average.

Pineapple curry chicken, overall it was very bland and you couldn’t taste the pineapple even when eating the little tiny pineapple chunks. Clearly just really cheap pineapple tidbits added to the regular bland curry.

Thai pepper steak, the one good note was the meat was not overcooked. The onions and peppers were under caramelized. The only real spice that was present was black pepper. Any flavor from the “wine” seamed to be missing. Overall it was bland and pointless.

In general I found the food very lacking. Staff was nice. Most restaurants I give two tried before moving on, here I believe once was more than enough.

The family who owns this restaurant is so sweet and fully aware of vegan/vegetarian dietary needs. (The owner’s daughter spoke at length about operating in Oregon for so many years and getting versed in veg dietary needs there before relocating to Oak Harbor.) Her mother, the owner, herself was vegetarian for many years, too😄She mentioned that sauces etc are made to order, so for many menu items it is easy to omit offending ingredients. We got the fresh rolls, fried tofu, jasmine fried rice, pad woon sen, and Thai iced tea w/coconut milk on our visit. All delicious! If you can’t handle spicy, order your food zero stars, as the spice rating starts at “spicy” (1 star) and goes to “Thai spicy” (4 star).

Sweet Rice is an amazing place to grab great Thai dishes and cocktails. I went for a late lunch yesterday after work, and the food was so good. First of all, the cocktail had fresh ginger in it and was so delicious. It was not too sweet and not too bitter. The Vegetable Delight with chicken was really yummy - so many vegetables. I was debating between a 2 and 3 heat level - the waiter advised that it was jalapeno-level, and that was perfectly accurate. I think I could definitely handle a 3 next time. Thank you for a delicious meal!

Eat here. You'll be so happy you did. Amazing peanut curry, pad see yew, fresh rolls, and cocktails. Everything we had was incredibly delicious, and with a beautiful view! Plus, friendly and fast service. What more could you ask for?

I've had masumam curry in many Thai restaurants but the way Sweet Rice makes it is the best I've ever had. I'm serious. It's really smooth, creamy, smokey, browned fatty meat, and perfectly spiced. It was deliiiicious!

We ate there for the first time recently and the waiter admitted to totally forgetting to put in our order. So our food didn't come out for like 40 minutes. However they comped our entire meal, including drinks (which I was not expecting!) and were extremely apologetic. Mistakes happen, it was a busy nice, and waiting tables requires tremendous multi-tasking. They know how to rectify a mistake and still give customers a great experience. I thought that was very generous of them (most restaurants would just comp the appetizer and drinks). Guess it was my lucky day! This restaurant is deserving of a five star review for kind staff and outstanding food. We'll be back!

We fell in love with this place!!! The owner offered outdoor dining with a view of the waterfront! So peaceful and hospitable! Only restaurant with a water 💧 view!!! We had a bottle of wine 🍷 and relaxed with appetizers!! First trip to Oak Harbor, and this place is so good! Sit outside on the gorgeous patio! We will be back!

Some of the Very BEST food I’ve had and I’ve eaten world wide! My Dad and I ate there at least once a week prior to his death. I now live in Floridida and they have nothing like it here! I find myself dreaming of the pepper steak and Dad use to get Veggie Delight! Waiting to make a trip back home to O.H. So I can visit my Sweet Rice Dinner again!!

This is the ONLY restaurant in oak harbor I have found that serves authentic Thai food. The peanut curry is the bomb. Chicken satay was awesome.

You’re going to order whatever you’re going to order and wonder why they don’t have a Michelin star (and honestly Michelin stars can ruin the authenticity of restaurants at times so thankfully they currently do not). The place is a bit low-key at this point. I’ve been going here for a few years and I go here every once in a while. When I do, it’s a hit every single time, whether it’s Panang Curry, Phad Thai, Egg Rolls, Crab Rangoon, Sticky Rice, etc.. These are all pretty dang good dishes. You will not find a better Thai place on Whidbey than this spot right here.

They serve one of my favorite cocktails here. The ginger lime Cosmo. The food portions are great. The prices make it affordable and keep me coming back.

This is my Dad's favorite haunt, but every time I try a dish here, it's a bit 'off' compared to similar dishes from the numerous Thai places I eat at in Oregon.

I went there for a lunch special on a thursday afternoon and was welcomed warmly. It was a quiet day, so made the experience even better. Now for the food, delicious , well made. I got the massaman curry and it was the best I tried. I will be back.

The staff is always friendly and the service is always great. The food is consistently good.

Four different spice levels are offered, making the food perfect for kids, as well as those who like extra spicy Thai food. They are also good at substitutions for dietary needs or preference.

We love to order the yellow curry, temple cashew chicken, and crab rangoons. The fresh and fried spring rolls are also delicious!

Take out is offered and we have had great experiences with doing that as well. The food is typically ready within 15 minutes of when we place our order.

Can't recommend this place enough.

Family friendly to the max! We brought our two year old here and were impressed with how well set up they are for kids. Lidded cups, toddler plates and utensils, and fast service. Our toddler loved his pad see ew with fresh tofu (they have non fried tofu available!) and our dishes were tasty too. My only complaint is a small one and that is the rice noodles were slightly undercooked. We'll have to come back whenever we're in town!

We visited a couple of weeks back. Our food was really good, it was packed with flavors. We requested making the dishes vegan, oil-free etc, the server was attentive, quick to understand our dietary requests and made it easy to order food. A must visit when around.

Back in the day their food was awesome! went there to eat lunch with my mom and family last month and to my surprise my pad Thai was so uneatable, what happened!!! all together 4 meals were not eaten because the food was so uneatable and I eat Thai food all the time! the staff was great! cook not so great... please get a cook who can make Thai food! Please! $80 lunch down the drain, i wouldn't even feed my dog the left overs, so very sad!!! :(

Many dishes are vegan, and they assured me they use a mushroom sauce for gravy, as opposed to any kind of fish-based sauce. The Cashew Nut stir fry was delicious! And the portion size was perfect. There was no wastage.

I came to Sweet Rice with a party of 7, and we couldn't have had better service. Lek was our server, and she was so wonderful! My boyfriend and I are vegan, and she happily recommended meals for us and explained that most meals could also be made vegan. The food was also just marvelous, literally no one was unsatisfied. As for the spice star system, 4 isn't too bad, but it's the kind of spice that builds as you eat haha. 1-2 the spice was basically undetectable for us, if that helps! We loved the peanut tofu curry! It came to our table Hot and smelling amazing, served in a porcelain boat, with a tasty dipping sauce.
The calamari was very fresh tasting and so tender, tempura battered done just right.

The service here was very prompt, and the owner is super attentive and kind and makes you feel welcome in the most natural way possible.
The food does run a little spicy so be aware that even a two-star spice rating can be pretty potent! The portions were large and came with plenty of rice and were reasonably priced.
The indoor seating area is tastefully decorated and there is a new outdoor seating area in the back overlooking the water. Definitely a nice addition to the little downtown strip in Oak Harbor.
Will definitely be returning with my family to try out the extensive menu.

Don't come here unless you enjoy waiting around on service. You could order after being seated and still wait 45 minutes for your meal. Need service? Be prepared to be put into the penalty box and ignored list of you have to flag someone down for more water. It will take another 15 minutes for water too. Like bland Thai? This place is for you! There is literally not much good I can say about this place in the six visits I have had over six years. Service has always ducked, the portion sizes are just okay, you may need a midnight snack. Don't worry about doggy bags, none are ever needed. Need your check? Be prepared to wait another 15 minutes. In a hurry? This is not your place!
I wanted to like this place. 1-2-3 or Jeda (RIP) are better, even if 1-2-3 has inconsistent meal quantities (see Yelp).

Lovely place with updated decor, calm feeling, and great menu. The service is fast and considerate - we called ahead, letting them know we were in a hurry that day. Arriving 5 minutes later, we found our table set, and our dishes nearly ready. The vegetable stir-fry was super-tasty, and the beef salad very good. Their house white wine was very nice. Look forward to going back soon!

I really haven't liked Thai food in my past so I stopped eating it. My friends held my birthday at Sweet Rice. My sister ordered so many items. I ordered the vegetable delight tofu. I LOVED EVERYTHING I TRIED. Since then, I've been there 4 more times, including curbside. Friendly, family owned, delicious!

This is my husband and my favorite restaurant! The food is delicious, we don't get out much with 3 kids under 6 but they are always really friendly and helpful with the littles! They brought out coloring books and crayons and cute dishes for the kids to eat on... I love the spicy curries they have here!

Three generations of women in my family love this place. Authentic food at relatively good prices. The staff is super friendly and really go out of their way to try and make your experience wonderful (Lookin at you, Josh). My grandmother and mother both come here often and have recently started inviting me with them these past few months. Veggie Delight, Garlicky Green Beans and Pad Thai are my favorites! Only issue I have is that the spice level seems to change drastically between cooks. Some days a 2 feels like a 1 and others it feels like a 3. Havent quite figured it out yet. And it's obviously not drastic enough to change my ratings so take this information as you will.
