My husband and I have loved coming here for a little date night or lunch date lately. The food is so authentic and delicious. The restaurant has new management and we were very impressed. The service is fast, clean, fun environment and portion sizes are big. The owners and waitresses are so friendly and personable. They went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect and to our liking. We ordered the phad thai and red curry. The owners were so friendly and even let me try a special dessert he was trying out with ice cream and thai iced tea and whipped cream for free! We were super impressed with the food and customer service. We will definitely be coming back as regulars.

This place has really taken a hit on its quality of food since the change in ownership/management. When the food came out there was an overwhelming smell that was quite alarming.
The fried rice was almost as if it was frozen prepackaged fried rice with boiled chicken added to it. Missing the veggies that the menu had listed, and with the large price increase they have induced one would think that would add to your experience. Fortunate to have experienced the original Thai Rama and will not be returning to the sorry excuse that isn't worth being in it's shadows.
Went for some dine in dinner. Decent Thai food in Bella terra mukilteo. The usual Thai fair nothing crazy on the menu, 1-5 star spice options. 3☆ was spicy but not crazy. Most dishes come with tofu, beef, or chicken options. Wasn't busy when I was there for a Thursday dinner. Would recommend if in the area and craving thai.
I placed an online order to go. I picked up my food. I got the advertised salmon and fries. There is even a picture on the website. However all I received was small 6 pieces of salmon. When I went back for my advertised fries. Their response was no sorry, That was a mistake on the website. What a freaking rip off. Personally they should have just gave me the fries. The food was fine, nothing special. Will not be going back. That is probably why the place is always empty.
Second time eating here and both times food was very delicious! Their pad Thai was so good. Owner recommended a new dish red curry pad Thai fusion oh my so good if u like both dishes, so much flavor! Definitely recommend 👍👍
We just do not understand the background music (lunch) they play in such a beautiful restaurant. It does not suit or fit the atmosphere or image. The music is too loud and too hard. We will go there more often if the music was more relaxed, and Thai oriented. This is the only reason we give the lower rating
This was a great meal and experience, the restaurant is very clean and the service was fast and prompt. We went toward the middle of the day so not many people there.
Food - The food was exactly as ordered and piping hot. They give you a heat choice of 1 thru 5 and I chose 4 I would go 5 next time though, go one step hotter than you usually would. The rice was fresh as were all the vegetables in the meal.
Restaurant - It was a very clean establishment with plenty of seating and a really nice little bar. The decor is pretty cool also.
Bathrooms - They were very cleaned and seemed to be maintained regularly.
Overall 4 stars I would highly recommend this place for a nice date night dinner and or just an all around good lunch. We had 2 entrees and a thing of rice and it was 30 bucks but the portions were enough for our lunch and dinner. Hope this helps happy dining! 😁

Forgot to take images but the food is EXCELLENT
The menu description was not what I got.
I ordered takeout, potstickers, Thai Rama fried rice, and Chicken Over Rice-5 star, which the menu description said was chicken sauteed in fresh garlic, with bok choy, onions, carrots, baby corns, mushrooms, and bamboo shoots. What I got was dingy-looking chicken that wasn’t even 1-star as far as spiciness. The only veggies in there from that description were the carrots and onions. No bok choy, baby corns, or bamboo shoots. When I called to request a refund for the one item-the chicken over rice they told me to bring it back and argued with me that my order wasn’t wrong before even allowing me to tell them what the issue was. The potstickers were also doughy and chewy with barely any meat. Now, I used to live in Mukilteo and eat here when it was “Thai Rama”, and always had a great experience with good food…so I was craving it and drove 30 minutes from where I now live to get it. So, it was my fault for not opening up the boxes to double-check the orders were correct, but they had the bag all tied up so I took it and left. I didn’t realize the mess-up until I got home…and at that point I’m not spending another hour to drive there and back to drop off the food that they messed up on. I couldn’t believe how rude the woman was when I called. And then she ended up telling me to keep the food and hung up on me. No refund, no apology for their error. TERRIBLE SERVICE!! We will never go to Hot Basil Thai Kitchen again…and I’m so sad to say that. Not sure if it’s new owners, management or what but in the 20ish years I’ve went there, I’ve never remotely had an experience like this.
Second time eating here and both times food was very delicious! Their pad Thai was so good. Owner recommended a new dish red curry pad Thai fusion oh my so good if u like both dishes, so much flavor! Definitely recommend 👍👍
If you order your food through uber eats or doordash, this restaurant pays very low to delivery drivers, so you will most likely receive your order late or some cases you will not receive it at all.

Amazing Thai food and you also get good boba there!
I got the green bean chicken lunch special, and was sorely disappointed at what you get for $15. 2/3 of the takeout container was taken up by plain white rice, with only a little bit of the green bean chicken. The green beans were canned and watery, the chicken was mediocre and bland, the carrots were undercooked, it had way too many onions, and it all tasted like seafood since, i assume, it was cooked with or right next to seafood (if you have shellfish allergies, take note). It almost felt insulting, a customer can buy so many things for $15 and to only get something that is mostly white rice is an affront when there are so many choices and given that eating out is much less affordable than it used to be. You can tell the place is struggling, and they are cutting the wrong corners by serving inferior products and skimping on the pricy ingredients. I will not be going back.
I’ve ordered from them a few times, and they do not miss! The food is so good! The peanut sauce is delish! Food is always piping hot, even with delivery! If you live near Mukilteo or are just in the area and want some good Thai fusion, come here! And the staff are amazing!
The new owners are absolutely amazing!!! All the new dishes added to the menu are delicious and definitely worth trying! I noticed they are making some amazing changes to the business and I am excited to continue and see this place grow!
I have previously eaten at Thai Rama which I found to be good, but not great. After reading the positive reviews about the new management, I was excited to give the restaurant (now Hot Basil), a second look.
I placed an order for pad thai at 11:45am via their website, which listed the hours of operation as opening at 11am. Upon ordering I received confirmation that the food would be ready between noon and 12:15 for pick up. I arrived at 12:10 and the restaurant was closed, lights off, no one inside. Confused, I negan to check to see if I had ordered from the right place when a truck pulled in and the owner and several staff hopped out and rushed into the restaurant with a "We're running late today, but you can come in and order." I told them I had already ordered through their website and would give them some time to open. A little annoyed, I went back to my car to wait, noticing a piece of paper stuck to their door reading "Now Open All Day Saturday and Sunday" - what "all day" means is anyone's guess, but it didn't coincide with their website or Google profiles. After waiting an additional 15 min past the time it was supposed to be done, I walked in to find my order being bagged and ready to go. At least it'll be fresh, right? From the kitchen I hear someone yell, "Let me teach you how to make pad thai the right way," which seemed peculiar and didn't inspire confidence.
I wish I could say the wait was worth it, but the food was sadly bland and subpar. I had ordered a 4 out of 5 spiciness and the pad thai tasted about as bland as something you'd get at a grocery store counter made for mild palates. The dish was 90% noodles with very little in the way of protein, veggies, sauce, or flavor. It felt about as rushed and slapdash as the opening of the restaurant over an hour past their stayed time.
I love to support local and I hate to have to write a negative review about any business, but was so disappointed by my whole experience I had to share. Maybe it's growing pains, maybe just a bad day, but it definitely left a bad impression. I hope they're able to get it together and iron out whatever issues they have going on, but as of now I can't say I would return.
We were in Hot Basil Thai Kitchen recently when I observed a troubling incident involving Steve the new owner. He was standing next to the food counter by the kitchen where plates for diners and take-out food containers are placed. He vigorously blew his nose several times and after each time examined his handkerchief to see what had come out. He then wadded up part of his handkerchief and pushed it into one of his nostrils and held it there briefly and then repeated this. It appeared as if he might have had a nose bleed. Then he just walked back into the restaurant area. He never should have been doing anything like this near food and the fact that he didn’t wash his hands afterwards makes us reluctant to return to this restaurant, despite it being probably the best Thai food in Mukilteo. It’s worrisome when an owner, whose job it is to set standards for cleanliness, models such unsanitary behavior in front of his employees.
Much better food than Thai Rama. Ordered twice from them, & both were consistly good. The only glitch was that there were no peanuts on our Pad Thai entre on our 1st visit. I called the next day, & let them know we wanted nuts. The Mgr recommended to me to tell them, each time that I order, to ask for peanuts. Issue solved.
Food very good and new owner is very kind
Food was yummy
We have eaten here multiple times. Unfortunately we’ve had multiple issues our last few visits. Today was very unfortunate as we placed a large to-go order. We specified no peanuts on a pad Thai dish. What do we get? An entire to go box of pad Thai covered in chopped peanuts. They had the bags sealed up and were rushing us out as they were busy. We weren’t able to check prior to leaving. I’d expect with them raising their prices which are already becoming a little excessive that they could provide better service. Do to paying in cash, we could not get issued a refund. However they did offer to provide us with a free entree if we returned (a 45 minute round trip drive). Perhaps they’ll be better for others as they’ve lost a long time customer.
I liked Thai Rama but the new Hot Basil is PHENOMENAL! Their Sweet & Sour sauce is like none I have ever had. Their Chicken fried rice is moist & flavorful! This is my new regular place.
The new hot basil is definitely not as good as Thai rama. Had a very disappointing experience with the food. The owner said that the recipes were the same, but they clearly were not.
Joe will definitely be missed!
Really wanted to like this place but the food was unfortunately really really bad. I would not recommend at all. The service was also not great.
The staff were wearing jackets. Turn up the heat!
The server was wonderful, polite and efficient.
The food was fantastic! Excellent flavors! The atmosphere was relaxed and fun and a beautiful space! We will be back! A+
We make a point to visit at least once (or more) every couple of weeks. Even though we recently moved 30 minutes away, we still come back, because it's THAT GOOD! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars on the food is that for some reason lately, even one star curry is wayyy too spicy for me. They must have changed their chef or a different type of curry. The rest of the menu is wonderful, and make sure to order a cocktail from their signature cocktail list! We love Thai Rama and will always support this small business!
I ordered 2 curry dishes without rice (that’s extra, I made my own) to go order and had a beer while waiting. The bill was $47. I think it’s to expensive for what you’re getting. For over $20 a dish I can think of many places around town that offer better value.
Food was amazing and the mango rice was delicious! Super impressed!
This is a nice restaurant, great food and service. I can't believe we didn't know it was here! It's in a kind of tucked away location. I keep thinking about the noodles we had. Will definitely be back!!
I ordered the yellow curry with chicken for delivery. I have eaten in the restaurant and ordered takeout many times. This is the first time I have had food delivered. My order arrived with no rice. I asked the delivery person where the rice was. He said they didn't give him any rice. This is crazy! This is like ordering spaghetti and they only give you sauce, no spaghetti. This is like ordering a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and all they bring you is the peanut butter and jelly, no bread. I have made this same order many times, and it ALWAYS comes with rice. I called the restaurant and was given the run around. They were not willing to help me in any way. I give them zero stars and encourage everyone to avoid them like the plague.
I ordered food here since I live across the block and got a notification from postmate that it’s ready. I get there and wait 20 minutes (after waiting 40 minutes for the notification) and no food is ready. The food here is good but the service is horrible. It sends like it’s always just one person serving all the tables as well as taking care of the take out. It’s really not worth the hassle.
Bland. Other than the rice, my coconut chicken was awful
Thai Rama is a fun place for happy hour. The appetizer menu is great. Joe, the new manager is a great addition to the restaurant and is improving the menu continually with more original Thai flavors.
Love there pad Thai
This place is a hidden gem. It's in an office park/condo complex. The food here is so good consistently! It can get a little pricey but totally worth it. They have lunch specials which makes it reasonable. But with dinner it's full price. So with an appetizer, Thai tea, entree and dessert is about $30. It's never crowded.... Probably because it's in an office park area. I make special trips to Mukilteo just to eat here!!!!
Small little quite place that has a nice atmosphere. Employees are friendly and nice. Food is good and tasty.
Great food, personable staff. Never had a bad experience in 10 years.
very disappointing. on top of missing an entire item, this food was made with no love. two very different bland noodle dishes tossed in the container with a splat of sauce on top. ordered 5 spicy and I think they forgot to try. the Thai tea was made with far too much coconut milk, more than 50% of the cup. the spring rolls were the only good part of the meal. and while they're open about most dishes (including curry!) not coming with rice, who does that??
One of my favorite spots for take out. Fast, consistent, and reliable.
This is one of my favorite Thai food places!
Not great.. asked for vegetarian dishes, but my tummy definitely said that there was cross-cooking/contamination happening. The one meat-eater said his dish was ok, nothing amazing.
One of our appetizers came out with meat (our mistake as didn’t clarify we wanted tofu fresh rolls), so we ordered the correct one. Literally was given it as we were given our boxes to leave, so wasted our money on that. I’m guessing they forgot until they were ready to cash us out?
They are semi kid-friendly, had highchairs & plastic plates & cups.
Not my favourite & expensive for the portion size. Definitely better Thai restaurants in the area.
We’ve ordered from Thai Rama many times, but tonight it was terrible! We strayed from our normal order of pad see ew and that was our first mistake. Fresh rolls claimed to have vegetables, but these were just full of bagged lettuce. The steamed rice dumplings claimed to have pickled radish, but came with cilantro instead. The orange chicken was over done like chicken jerky and very small for $15. I ordered the pineapple fried rice with no onions and alas, it had onions in it. All around a terrible experience. It’s no fun to spend $60 and still be hungry after your meal.
Friendly and good food
Great little local Thai place!
Food is delicious but they're really overpriced... update, pricing is pretty on par with other Thai restaurants in the area. Food and mixed drinks are always very good.
Great local spot.
Delicious and a crowd-pleaser with my family.
One of the best Thai places in Seattle, worth the drive.
I eat here weekly and is the best Thai food I've had
The food had no flavor at all. I had a 5 star spicy pad Thai not even spicy or flavor
Average restaurant. I ordered drunken noodles with tofu. It had a meat like smell. Noodles were half boiled.
Not what it used to be. Original Thai Rama flavors are lost. Think twice before visiting this restaurant.
New ownership?? Spicy chicken 4 star was bland and one star, fresh spring rolls were really lettuce and way too much, "spice tray" was two plastic bottles one dry flake and one chili sauce. Best thing was Thai iced tea. Never going back ever.
I got the green curry, wonton soup, crab wontons and beef pad Thai. The wonton soup was one of the best I have ever had! Everything was great!
Tasted good but there were multiple strands of hair in my food and curry was SUPER watery..
I enjoyed the flavor of the Pad Thai and the amount I get for the money, this will be a place I come back to often!
Haven't been here in years can't figure out why good food nice environment
I ordered the pad Thai with chicken. It tasted a bit flavorless outside of the extra fishy taste from what I am assuming was way too much fish oil. It was very light colored and definitely didn't have that full flavor that makes Thai food so delicious. It was a cute restaurant, and had a good vibe.
Food was okay. Staff not the nicest...
Pretty good
Best phad thai
I always order pick-up, but this was my first order for delivery. I ordered green curry, but there was no rice. I hope you will pay more attention to confirming order next time.
Can only speak from someone who visited the bar for a Seahawks game. And other than the Seahawks losing, everything else (the drinks & bar food) were great!
Absolutely delicious food! Also, amazing atmosphere and customer service. I will definitely be back!
Good food
Ngl, was having high hopes. Lackluster spring rolls, beef that I can't chew. Only two things I could actually consider above average were the pad see ew and the fried rice.
Hours online say open until 9:30p Fridays got there at 8:47p. The doors open but they close at 9pm. It’s truly not that hard to change hours on google or on their website. Just makes it hard when you look something up online and it’s incorrect. Not sure how the food tastes. Was craving pad thai and it was close to us
Ohhh great fried rice dishes!!!
Great, hot (temperature and usually spice) food, friendly staff. Ready quickly.
The food here is yummy. A place we frequent for take out. If you place on online order to be ready for pickup asap, have someone on their way already- they are quick! The star system varies greatly between days and/or cooks; 4 star one day will knock your socks off, other days, not so much. Main meals are great, appetizers don't do so well as take out.
Short summary: used to be good for dine in.
Post pandemic: Not so good with "Take-Outs'.
Since we love Thai food, we used to go there atleast once a month before the pandemic. The main difference in the cuisine of this Thai restaurant with respect to other Thai restaurants is in the selection. They have less varieties, but their Thai pineapple fried rice is always top notch in taste. I think they need to improve on the free starter soup that they serve on weekdays in dine-in.
Absolutely delicious, and fast and friendly too. My takeout order tonight only took 10 minutes. I highly recommend the avocado green curry, and the spicy eggplant.
Been eating here a lot during the pandemic. Best Thai place in the area. Very fast - for take out the time estimate is usually 15 minutes.
A family favorite! Consistently great food and excellent service! Love love them💕
Excellent FRESH food. Great service, friendly, warm environment
Curry wasn't very flavorful
Ordered pad Thai to go and my noodles are white, with little to no flavor
Great food, good for quick lunch.
Fast and perfect. Happy hour is 4-7 daily
Awesome happy hour menu, and friendly staff. Spicy seems to be on an American scale, so you may want to tell them to take the kid gloves off if you want authentic Thai spicy.
Always good food and good service
We used to be regulars here - it was great- good food, in walking distance. Last time we went for take out they added $5 to the tip. We’ve stop going now as we can’t trust them. Unfortunate for them to lose several hundred dollars of business per year over something like this (we used to go twice a month).
We ordered Tofu Pad Thai takeout the other day, very impressed with the quality. Everything seemed very fresh!
Staff was distracted and the order was wrong we got 2 pad thai we ordered extra lime for both got none ordered extra sauce none on one we ordered and paid for extra egg none ordered one no onion surprise they got that right but the one with onion had extra extra so bad my wife that likes onion could not finish instead of eating as left overs she threw it away oh and on mine I asked for three stars had no spice to it all
Amazing, and great quantity for good price! Will be returning.
Delicious! I ordered the Pad Thai with level 1 heat (I'm a wuss) and found that it really meant no heat at all. Level 2 was perfect.
Orders are made VERY quickly, taking only 5-10 minutes, so if you're picking up takeout plan your trip accordingly so it's still piping hot.
Good food but my wife and family have had more than one bad experience with a particular regular who spends a lot of time in the bar. He is loud, rude and uses very inappropriate language. We quit going and some of our friends too because of the behavior at the bar.
P thai nudles didn't have much flavors on it and chiken seemed to be raw.
Very nice Thai food in Mukilteo area.
Quick service for take out and there's a nice ambiance for those who want to dine in as well
Really good food and kind efficient service. Their brown rice is not the best I have had, but not bad. Likewise the crab delight
One of our two favourite Thai restaurants here in Mukilteo.
Horrible service..sat down and waited 10 minutes before anyone came to me. Had to get up 4 different times to ask for something. Water was empty the whole time. Food was cold.
The staff is super nice but the food lacks flavor and there was no crab in our crab delight, just cream cheese.
Fun time, great food!
In my opinion it's the best place to get Thai food in mukilteo, I personally like their Curry but everyone seems to like their order no matter the dish.
Great foods and service!
Friendly staff and very good food. Very nice location also. This is one of our go-to restaurants in Mukilteo.
Nothing special. Not that tasty, even with spices.
Always delicious and do quick. Perfect for lunch hour treat.
Great service good food been going here for years
I live nearby so I decided to check this place out. Very clean, friendly staff, excellent food with great portions and reasonable prices. There is also a nice little lounge area for grabbing a drink.
Excellent food!!
little bar spot and restaurants with colorful locals at happy hours. Waitress bartender was very nice
Noodles were a gelatinous wad swimming in oil. Vegetables and meat unimpressive. Fresh spring rolls were just cabbage rolled in a wrapper. Service was about on the same level.
Fast service, quality food, decent selection, fairly affordable. It's definitely worth what you pay for. The restaurant itself has a comfortable interior and is well maintained. I'm going to continue using this as a quick stop for lunch for as long as I'm in the area.
Very good food. Service is normal. Vegetable spring rolls are wonderful
Very nice resturant. We have dined in or done take out. Either way you cant go wrong and will get delicous food. When dining in the service was fast, the atmosphere cozy, and very nice staff. When taking out they give great times I have never been standing around waiting or gottwn cold food. Their portion sizes are great.
My dish was great but my husband's was not. His had hardly any chicken or veggies and his noodles tasted and smelt burnt. The staff did not come ask how are food was so my husband just ate it. It seemed like they either cooked his food way too hot too fast or were using a dirty wok with old food burned on it. Too bad because the reviews led us here and my meal was great, but we wont be back.
Pretty good and the prices are good, staff is always friendly. They are also fast.
My only complaint is that they use styrofoam containers for takeout instead of something compostible.
Good food. Grlic shrimp very good. The egg plant tofu dish is exceptional. Thinking of going veg or just want to try egg plant. This us the dish.
The food was excellent.
Very nice restaurant and bar. Loved the Red curry chicken. Big variety of food to choose from.
Good lunch specials. Always very quick, which is nice for a sit down restaurant for lunches durring the week.
Best Thai food.
Good but very rude had to ask several times for everything
The best Thai food I've had since moving to WA.
It’s ok food that you want close by
My favorite Thai place in Mukilteo!!
Good Thai Option in Mukilteo - Have been here a handful of times over the years. Haven't been fir maybe a year.
I saw someone had posted it was new family ownership and it appears that's correct. I didn't see the Thai people who had previously run the restaurant about.
In any event, we were a party of five and ordered various items including a spring roll appetizer, Pahd Thai, Pahd See Ewe, spicy eggplant with chicken and a vegetable and tofu dish.
The spring rolls were crisp and just enough oil to lightly fry them. All the dishes were universally enjoyed and hit the right flavor notes. If you order medium spice for your dishes, that should be sufficient for all but the most demanding spice palate.
Their happy hour is worth it for bites, brews and beverages. Lunch specials for $9.25 at this are also worth a shot because you typically get an extra or two thrown in like an appetizer.
Service was decent with food coming out relatively quickly, but the hostess (probably owner/manager) was a little slow at times. However, she wa unfailingly polite and nice.
Very good food in a very good location. The atmosphere is very pleasing inside the restaurant.
I'm being generous. I ordered 5* chicken phad thai. It was really blah, oil coated the plate, and bland, I wouldn't have rated it at 1* for spiciness.
Just another Thai restaurant.
