bloom thai cuisine are family own and operate thai restaurant with modern thai fusion . Brunch offer on the weekend only. soft opening 1 feb 24
We visited on a Sunday right as they opened, and from the moment we walked in, the waitress and staff made us feel incredibly welcome. The restaurant was charming, with thoughtful and inviting decor that added to the experience. Our group of five all agreed that the prices were very reasonable.
We ordered a variety of dishes to share, and everything was outstanding. My personal favorites were the Udon Pad See-ew Noodles and the Pad Thai, both of which were bursting with flavor. To top it off, the owner came out later to offer us coconut prawns, which were absolutely delicious. Her warm and friendly demeanor made us feel even more at home.
Having lived in western Washington for many years, I can confidently say this is the best Thai restaurant I’ve ever been to. We’ll definitely be back—this place truly delivers on every level.
Restaurant was small but it was clean which is what matters the most to me as far as how the restaurant looks. Service was superb, communication on ordering process was so friendly and the woman kept on refilling our waters.
My 3 star review is for the food. We ordered the pad Thai, crispy pork belly and coconut shrimp. I think I had high expectations for this place being that a food blogger and the Google reviews left by others hyped this place up. The food was plated so nicely and came out super quick but it all went downhill soon as we started to eat. The pad Thai we received was dry, as if it had been previously made and sat under a warmer even the tofu tasted off. The crispy pork belly was salty, so salty we barely ate it and the coconut shrimp was oily.
I’m willing to give this place another try because I did enjoy the atmosphere and service from here. I’m hopeful next time will be better!
Tried this restaurant after a friend suggested it. It did not disappoint! I went in for a late lunch and the owner was super friendly, the food was quick too. It seemed to be filled with lots of people trying the restaurant for the first time which is awesome. I tried the coconut shrimp (best I’ve ever had!) and their Crispy Garlic chicken, also great. Next time I’ll try the red curry, I got caught up in the photos on the menu and ordered before noticing there was curry. It’s a smaller menu and I get the vibe that they know what they are good at and not messing with a good thing. Excited to try more menu items!
One of my absolute favorite restaurants! Every time I’m driving through or in the area I have to stop by, I think about the coconut shrimp and tomyum wontons here on a regular basis. The service is fast and friendly, and the restaurant is well decorated and cozy. Lakewood is lucky to have Bloom Thai!
My favorite Thai spot never disappoints! We absolutely love everything on the menu—from the crispy, golden coconut prawns to the perfectly balanced pad Thai, and let’s not forget the refreshing coconut water that pairs so well with every dish. The crispy chicken and fried rolls are delicious there’s truly nothing on the menu we haven’t tried and loved . The atmosphere is great annd great team of employees they are welcoming, and the restaurant is so clean. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Thai flavors!
We found our new favorite Thai restaurant! Small menu but they know what they're doing with what they serve. We had the pork belly appetizer, WOW! So crispy on the top and a little chewy but mostly melt in your mouth... perfectly cooked. Amazing pad thai and red curry (they didn't skimp on the shrimp). Friendliest service we've experienced in quite a while. Happy, upbeat atmosphere, the complete opposite of drab. We can't wait to go back again. Highly recommend, as a matter of fact, we've already recommended it to a few people.
P.s. wish I had gotten before pictures of the food, it looked amazing I promise.
This place is a gem. Everyone is friendly when you walk in. Small on the inside but it’s so cute and comfy.
5 tables in the main room 2 big ones a medium one and 2 small ones. There is a smaller room off to the side with more tables for two.
The menu is on the wall next to the window (small menu) and someone will come take your order and then seat you.
When I went almost every table was full. But it didn’t take long for my food to come out. I overheard another table saying a lot of Military people come eat here for lunch. Now you know when the Military frequents the food is good.
I didn’t know what to get between 2 things so I got both. Bangkok Crispy Garlic Chicken and Mama Blue Grilled Chicken.
Listen that Crispy garlic chicken came out 1st and all I can say is 10/10. It’s delicious. Crispy. Sweet and savory.
Mama Blue grilled chicken came out next and man the dipping sauce and the grilled chicken thigh 10/10. I have no complaints and you can look at the picture and see the presentation.
you guys gotta come here.
Slim pickings on the parking but it’s still worth a visit. If you are nearby stop in and check them out.
I was lucky enough to find this place online while looking for a good place to eat with my team. We wanted to meet up somewhere between Seattle and Olympia, and Tacoma is a great spot. Lakewood is even better for us. Once I saw the photos and the menu, I was sold. We got there, and they were very accommodating for our larger than normal party.
Service was great. Food was awesome. The crispy pork belly is a must-have! Everything we had was great. Here are some photos.
The food is 10/10!! It's so good and the owners/staff are super nice! Great place!
Greeted as soon as you come in. Can always ask for recommendations especially if you aren’t sure. Portions are pretty decent. Frequent here often that they are learning who you are when return. I was shocked that the waitress remembered when my daughter and I came here. Family business. Love the small environment. Free drink for military too!!!
Amazing food, service and experience!
Finally went after hearing about it so much. Food is excellent! Smaller menu but the quality is 10/10 on all of the dishes I had this evening. I highly recommend you check this restaurant out!
By far my favorite Thai restaurant and one of my favorite restaurants in general! Seriously, this is the best Thai food I’ve ever had. I usually don’t like pork belly because of the fat, but the way they crisp it makes it not just edible but delicious. Their crispy garlic chicken has a chokehold on me. The pad Thai is excellent as well. I genuinely think about this restaurant every couple days.
The food and service was great. The space is clean and cozy.
The fried rice and red curry were excellent. The presentation of the food and atmosphere were also notable. Will definitely be going back to try other dishes.
You will love this little gem in Lakewood. Far and away the best service I've seen. The owner and staff are super friendly and kind, and the food is delicious!
Best pork belly ever! Tom yum is amazing and pad see ew was to die for 🙌🏻 I’m picky with all 3, so that’s a HUGE understatement ❤️ Of course, the service is always amazing and such a beautiful place to dine.
One of my absolute favorite restaurants! Every time I’m driving through or in the area I have to stop by, I think about the coconut shrimp and tomyum wontons here on a regular basis. The service is fast and friendly, and the restaurant is well decorated and cozy. Lakewood is lucky to have Bloom Thai!
this place is really cute, im so glad i found Bloom Thai Cuisine!! I got tom yum soup and this is best ton yum soup ive had so far!! Everyone works here is super friendly and kind. Id def come back again and try some noodles, i heard they are really good as well:0 highly recommend!!!
Bloom Thai is hands down my favorite Thai place!! Eating here is just like eating a special home cooked meal with family, the biggest compliment I can give. You can taste the love put in the food here. My favorite is the crispy pork belly (I literally am so picky with pork belly) with the jaew sauce *drool*. But you can’t go wrong with anything you order! I’ve tried a lot of the menu with my family and we’ve loved it all. I have a special place for the mango creme brûlée too.
Service is amazing, everyone here will greet you with a smile and care about your experience. Blue always comes out, talks and checks in with her guests. Seeing her is always a highlight of my visits here. Bloom Thai is a beautiful space to eat in, and if you don’t want to wait for a table on busy days I’ve ordered online and have had no issues. Food is always high quality, delicious, and beautiful!
If you haven’t checked them out yet please do! This restaurant is a beautiful addition to the Lakewood/Tacoma area!
We were really disappointed with the food especially because the 4.9 rating on this restaurant raised our expectations. The pork belly was very fatty and lacked flavor on its own. We were needing to add several condiments to give it flavor. For the crispy garlic chicken, it tasted very tomato-y. If you’ve had crispy garlic chicken from Bai Tong, it’s hard to come close to that one. The price is good considering the dishes come with rice and the display is beautiful, but again, the taste was subpar. The owner seems very kind, but we will not be returning.
Deliciously prepared and very fresh food!
Dined here again today with my boyfriend. Our absolute favorite restaurant in the area. Food, Service, Cleanliness, Friendliness, all top notch. Highly recommend to anyone and everyone in town.
10/10 🤩 Friendly staff, cute place and overall the food was delicious!!
Best Thai food I have had, Blue very helpful with describing menu Highly recommend eating here
Seriously the best pad thai we’ve ever had! They were super kind and overall such a great place. We got takeout on a Friday night and it was still super fast service. Highly recommend!!!
Just had a really nice lunch here. I highly recommend this as a nice place to go for a casual meal. The Thai chicken was really good, as was the crispy pork belly small plate.
Service is a little interesting. Its a counter order and delivery to your table. We got there right before the lunch rush, and the line ended up being almost out the door.
Great food, good price. Small dining area though.
BUTTT SUPER awkward how they ask you for a tip before they even give you your food and make you get your own water. Plus the cups are toddler size so I have to get up 3-5 times a meal. Service is non-existent. It’s like an old school McDonald’s in that sense. Which would’ve given them an alright rating in the service aspect but the watching me and asking me for a tip when you’ve done nothing yet feels almost rude.
The Chicken Pad Thai and Coconut Prawns are literal perfection. This is soon to be a regular place of mine with how good it was. Def worth a try if you’re in the area!
Super friendly, Super clean and the food is phenomenal 👌 will go again and again and again..
First time at this Thai restaurant, and although their menu is limited, the food is very, very good with fresh ingredients.
Great food and amazing service!
Amazing, delicious food, excellent service and the CUTEST atmosphere. The owner was so kind and has a wonderful, uplifting energy and a lovely backstory. Definitely returning to this location in the future! The Drunken Noodles were superb the curry was mouth-watering, the rice was fresh and tasty and my Thai iced coffee was fantastic.
Absolutely incredible! Dining here felt like walking into my mom’s house—warm, welcoming, and full of love. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with staff who made us feel like family from the moment we stepped in.
The food was simply outstanding—comforting, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Every dish brought a wave of nostalgia, reminding me of home-cooked meals shared around the family table. The portions were generous, and everything was perfectly seasoned.
If you’re looking for a place that feels like home and serves food that warms your heart and soul, this is it. A true gem! I’ll be back again and again.
Here’s a glowing five-star review for Bamboo Thai Cuisine:
Absolutely Incredible Thai Food!
Bloom Thai Cuisine is hands down one of the best Thai restaurants I’ve ever been to! The food is bursting with authentic flavors—every dish was perfectly prepared. The Tom Yum Soup and Mango Sticky Rice were simply unforgettable! The presentation was stunning, and the portions were generous. The staff were warm, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. The cozy and beautifully decorated atmosphere added to the overall experience. If you’re looking for outstanding Thai cuisine, Bloom Thai Cuisine is a must-visit. Can’t wait to come back!
Food was really good and go hungry. There's lots of it!
This was really a hidden gem. Went in with my partner for lunch, and the environment was cozy and familial. Very welcoming staff as well, we got to meet Blue, who was very sweet and informative. The server I didn't get to catch his name but was really kind and accommodating. I loved that the staff had genuine conversations with their customers. The food itself was very delicious and had a great portion size.
The place is small but i think that adds to it. Its super clean inside, the service great and the pad thai was amazing! I usually dont like it but my wofe got it and it was so good. Im a slightly bigger guy but could barely finish it was soo fulfilling! Def recommend.
Went there for dinner with friends and the food was soooo good. I got the shrimp pad Thai, got to taste their crispy garlic Chicken as well! Staff is very accommodating if you want a few things left out of your dish and the quality and quantity of food you get is worth the price.
Fabulous little place. And by little I mean, they have about 10 tables that seat 2 people. We went about 4:30 and it was almost full, but it is worth the wait! The staff are INCREDIBLE! The food is soooo good. Fresh and flavorful. Limited menu and u don't ask for how many stars u want, they have condiment trays with different levels of heat u add urself.
Best Thai in town. Hands-down. Everything is made with thoughtful care and consistently delicious.
Excellent service, amazing food.
If I could give it more stars, I would. Delicious classic Thai dishes, fun hybrid recipes, and just a lovely, cozy, atmosphere. They even made a special fried rice for my toddler, and she ate it up. I highly recommend everyone to visit this gem!
No fuss Thai food. Dine in or take out. Very basic interior, casual A little disorienting at first. Order your food at the kitchen window. Then, find a seat or take out. Wait staff bring the food to you. Small cafe- mind the possible wait. Wait person was very friendly. The real prize is the food. The food is delicious. I ordered Phad Thai with tofu. The tofu was a generous portion. The shrimp wonton in broth were very spicy and yummy. My dinner mate had grilled thai chicken with rice. He enjoyed it. Portions were sizeable and prices very reasonable. We enjoyed it.
Hands down, the best Thai food in the entire Tacoma-metro area. The owner is incredibly friendly and loves her customers.
*ASIANS BEWARE OF THE 5 STAR REVIEWS*
If you grew up with an Asian palette, you would know that this restaurant has false 5 star reviews. The food is completely bland and caters to a certain demographic that is unfamiliar with true good Asian food.
The service is very good here, I was taken care of right away. It’s a cute little hole in the wall as expected from other reviews. It’s fairly priced for what it offers. I would say the food here was 2/10.
They expect you to season your own food to taste and provide different seasoning from 3 different cultures that will clash against the true authenticity of the culture.
I ordered the red curry and it was as bland as a girl you’re on a date with that has no personality. It looks good at first, but once you get a taste, you realize it’s not all that. The curry was also very watery, meaning low quality in ingredients, either they are watering the curry down, or just don’t make it right. Let me know which one it is business owner!
They don’t carry change here as well, so don’t expect to pay with cash. They offer self serve water and have a weird process for ordering. It’s a sit in kind of restaurant, but it’s not at the same time. Why expect tips when you have a self serve kiosk and don’t offer water? What kind of service are you providing to be asking for tips that are at 15,20,25%?
Change it, I will be back. With more foodies. We need to get it known that this restaurant doesn’t have the best tasting food. Offer levels of spiciness for different dishes, let’s be honest here. You say your dishes are kind of spicy, it does not. You need levels to it. Spiciness is all subjective. STOP telling customers that it’s kind of spicy.
I’m a BIG foodie and this place was amazing… amazing enough to say that it’s now my new favorite Thai place. Service was also amazing! They don’t have a large menu so they’re really able to perfect the food items that they offer! Which is great and delicious options! Goes to show why I love small, family owned restaurants like this! You craving Thai food, this is the place to go!
Yummy.
Absolutely love Bloom Thai! Delicious food (crispy garlic chicken, pad kee mao, coconut prawns, and cream cheese wontons are some of our very favorites!) and super friendly owner and staff. Parking can be a bit challenging when they're busy, but they are always very good at having our order ready on time, so we are usually just in and out quickly. Haven't dined in, but it is a clean, cozy space, and not too loud. Highly recommend (you MUST get the crispy garlic chicken!)!!
I met Blue at a community event in Seattle and was in the Tacoma area visiting a friend and we asked where we should grab some good Thai food and Bloom came up top of the list. I was pleasantly surprised to see her and she remembered me and my vegetarian preference. Loved that. The food and service was so yummy. We had her delicious Veggie cream cheese wontons, some delish coconut soup and Udon pad see eww noodles. It was great to catch up with her and her family and to be able to visit her wonderful restaurant. I'd drive back down from West Seattle for another visit!
This is some of the best Thai food around. The crispy garlic chicken was crispy and had a ton of flavor
Walking in I wasn’t expecting it to be soo cute and cozy, gave me tea party vibes and I loved it, the guy who took our order was very kind and we didn’t feel rushed although we accidentally stayed a little passed closing, sorry about that! The food was great and so was the mimosa, would def go back.
We visited on a Sunday right as they opened, and from the moment we walked in, the waitress and staff made us feel incredibly welcome. The restaurant was charming, with thoughtful and inviting decor that added to the experience. Our group of five all agreed that the prices were very reasonable.

Having lived in western Washington for many years, I can confidently say this is the best Thai restaurant I’ve ever been to. We’ll definitely be back—this place truly delivers on every level.
Delicious and owner was so sweet and generous. Will come again!
This is like dining at a long time friends house who happen to make the most delicious thai food ever. It's a small restaurant where you're made to feel like family the moment you walk in the door. This is literally a family making and serving up their recipes. Our party all has variations of noodle dishes, but we all went for the pork belly protein...amazingly crisp and perfectly cooked. The sauces were spot on and generously adorned with fried Thai basil. It's a simple concept...walk in, the menu is on a screen and you order at the window, and the food is brought to your table. Selections aren't extensive, and other than tea beverages are canned or bottled....this is all irrelevant as this is all about the FOOD. The low overhead allows them to deliver 5 star food at reasonable prices. You will not be disappointed.
First of all, customer service was excellent! They are so friendly & attentive! The food was so yummy, definitely recommended to anyone, even if it takes you a bit to get here. First time here & even though we live more than an hr away, plan on coming back again! Deserves the 5☆ and more
Tried this restaurant after a friend suggested it. It’s a smaller menu and I get the vibe that they know what they are good at and not messing with a good thing. Excited to try more menu items!
I was sad to see Golden Teak close, but have found my new go-to. I’ve now had 2 outstanding meals at Bloom Thai. The owner, Blue, is very friendly and came and checked on us at our table. Drunken udon noodles topped with crispy greens, chewy perfectly cooked pad Thai, coconut prawns, shrimp wonton soup tom yum. All fantastic! She makes chicken fried rice (not on the menu) for kids.
The staff was so friendly. Food comes fast. Tofu seasoned and fried deliciously. Cozy Xmas decorations are up now!
Saw this place on instagram a bunch and decided to give it a try! Very cute on the inside, but small only 5 or so tables. Order at the counter and pay before you eat. Small menu but good options. The guy who took our order was nice, checked on us a lot to make sure everything was okay. I ordered the chicken pad Thai, crispy pork belly with jeow sauce and a Thai tea. My cousin ordered the udon pad see ew, egg rolls (they only have veggie), and Thai tea as well. The chicken pad Thai was delicious, they give generous portion. I asked for 5⭐️ spicy since that is my go to at any Thai place, but they don’t do spice levels here. They give you a little spice bar with chilli flakes, chilli paste, vinegar with jalapeno, and some sort of soy sauce with lime and Thai chilli. Even after adding all the chilli flakes and Thai chilies I could it still wasn’t spicy enough and changed the flavor a bit, but was still delicious. The chilli paste is more sweet than spicy, pretty sure it’s the sriracha brand. Very pretty presentation! The udon pad see ew was very flavorful and huge portion. Not a fan of the egg rolls, kinda flavorless just tasted like cabbage, I think pork or chicken would be a good option. Thai tea was so good! Perfect balance of sweetness, just wish there was less ice or bigger cups😩 5 sips and it’s done. My absolute favorite was the pork belly!!! It was so soft and juicy tender and crunchy on the outside, not chewy at all which I LOVED! I hate when pork belly is so chewy. One of the top 3 pork belly’s I’ve ever had for sure. Would come here again. Prices are decent. Parking is small and packed. Right next to gravity coffee so lots of traffic. In a tiny plaza. Would come here again!
This is the best Thai restaurant in Lakewood.
Wow! Food was incredible. The Tom Kha was maybe the best I've ever had. Coconut encrusted shrimp was so big and juicy and it paired perfectly with the dipping sauce it came with.
Very cute inside and owners are incredibly friendly.
Food is Fabulous! The staff makes it even better!
The hype is real! Finally tried Bloom Thai after seeing it on Instagram. The food was delicious, the service was great, and the decor was a vibe.
Lakewood's best hidden treasure!
I’ve experienced better Thai cuisine in the Lakewood area, as the food here didn’t feel particularly special. While the staff served the food promptly, we had to refill our own water, and the cups were quite small. The waiter spoke very quickly and seemed to avoid eye contact, making it challenging to communicate. I had to get to get water couple of times as they don't refill it for you, had to get up to request a to-go box as well with almost empty resturant.
That said, the ambiance was delightful and was definitely a highlight of the visit.
I went there after seeing a video on Tik-tok and they did not disappoint! When we first walked in everyone was so inviting. The cook even said hi to my baby and offered some fried rice for him while we ordered our food so he didn’t have to wait to eat! We got the dumplings, coconut shrimp, and pork belly. All were rich in flavor and just delicious! 10/10 recommend.
IS Bussin
Firstly!! It's in the same lot as gravity coffee!! Good customer service the owner was super cool gave me insiders on where to buy Thai snacks even!!! Food was good, you can tell they take pride in their food everything tastes fresh! Great place! Try the mango jackfruit ice cream if they have it!!
This place is a gem. Everyone is friendly when you walk in. Small on the inside but it’s so cute and comfy.
5 tables in the main room 2 big ones a medium one and 2 small ones. There is a smaller room off to the side with more tables for two.

I was completely blown away by how good the food is here and how quickly it was prepared. I love the vibe, the seating area is so cute! Best part was that the owner has such a positive and friendly personality. As people walk in, she greets them with genuine warmth and care. No fake "customer service" voice. We will be back as often as we can.
I was lucky enough to find this place online while looking for a good place to eat with my team. We wanted to meet up somewhere between Seattle and Olympia, and Tacoma is a great spot. Service was great. Food was awesome. The crispy pork belly is a must-have! Everything we had was great. Here are some photos.
Came on a friday evening. Restaurant is really nice. Staff and food is wonderful and cheerful. Had the chicken phad thai. Great flavor and portion. You order/pay at the counter then find a seat (if dine in)..food will come fast. Glad I found this place...though it's tucked in behind other businesses and large coffee shop. Enjoy.
Went there today for lunch with my friend Nino and WoW! Amazing food and service! What I love is when your ordering up front, the kitchen is literally right in front of you and you can smell the amazing food! They welcomed each guest and I’m coming back! Highly recommend this tiny spot!
Very good food. Stopped in during lunch and the waiter was very friendly. Prices are good. We were in uniform and they gave us a free drink with our meal which was very appreciated.
Listen people...if you find yourself in the Lakewood area you gotta stop by and eat here!! The food is SO good! MmmMmm! Every dish we ordered was full of flavor and had just the right amount of heat. The portion sizes were very generous as well. When we heated up our leftovers the next day the food tasted even better than when we first tried it!
I don't know if this place is family owned, but they sure treat you like family when you're there. The service was amazing! Everyone was warm and friendly and the restaurant had a cozy with a relaxed welcoming vibe. It seemed like a very family friendly spot overall.
The restaurant can be a little hard to spot from the street, but trust Google maps - it's really there! It's in an itty bitty mini strip mall/tiny business park that has a large espresso drive-thru and a tanning business. Parking was ample and easy. The restaurant itself is very accessible - there is a loading parking space directly in front of the restaurant, accessible seating (plenty of moveable chairs and also chairs with no arms available for use) and bathroom is accessible as well.
I'm really looking forward to introducing more friends to this place. I know they'll love it as much as I did!
Extraordinary Cuisine!
My family and I came here to cellebrate my birthday. We really enjoyed the food. The owners are just lovely. They blessed me with a delicious mango cake which we shared.
Amazing food with a great dining experience, the spice tray is a super helpful idea. The Phad Thai was the best I've had in years!
This was our first time eating at Bloom and it was fantastic. This is now our new favorite Thai restaurant. The people were lovely as was the atmosphere. We will be back.
Hidden gem. Fried basil leaves are great.
Quick service and always delicious!
Amazing food, generous portions and many items on the menu can be made vegan. The vegan Thai iced tea is incredible! Also, there is outdoor seating if your dog is with you.
Small, quaint restaurant with great service.
The food was delicious...would highly recommend!
Everything we ate was Absolutely Delicious!!!!!
Outstanding Thai food. Limited menu, but every dish is a work of art. Having eaten Thai food for more decades than I care to count, I can testify, you just cannot do Thai better than this place does it!
Best Thai food in the Tacoma Area! Friendly and kind staff. I dropped my order and they remade it for me. There's a reason why I take all my friends here!
I've been a few times but never got take out unti now. I think the food has somehow gotten even better! This place is a home run and the staff are so kind to my family. So happy to see it picking up more customers! I will happily be supporting this Bloom's awesome place for years to come. Keep it up!
Great food well seasoned, good portions. Great service staff was friendly. Had the drunken udon noodles and the garlic chicken. Would definitely order again.
The food here is AMAZING!!! sooooo flavorful!! The owners were so nice And very friendly!! Customer service was a 10 out of 10! I will be back!
From the second we walked in we were greeted with friendliness. The food was so fresh & absolutely amazing. Large portions for a very reasonable price. Beautiful atmosphere, clean, and just overall good vibes. You can tell the family takes pride in their food & establishment and cares about their customers. I have already told 5 friends about how much I loved Bloom since I was there 5 hours ago : ) Looking forward to my leftovers & going back soon!
My families favorite Thai spot for years closed with no warning on Mildred recently. I asked around at work for recommendations on a new spot and someone suggested Bloom. The suggestor hadn’t been yet herself, but others had told her it was amazing. I had to see for myself, especially after seeing so many great reviews. 4.9/5 with 200+ reviews isn’t an easy task after all.
So, I went…
When trying out a new place I try sticking to a base product and if that’s not done well then I generally don’t give them a second chance. Pad Thai is that dish at Thai spots. I know it’s not ‘authentic’, but everywhere has it, and everywhere does it differently. Some it’s fairly subtle differences, others it’s wild. So that’s what I ordered.
I was coming in late from 512 so I called it in. Only 40 minutes left until they close and I was dead set on giving them business. The man that answered the phone was great! No pushyness or haste to get me off the line. He told me it’d be ready in 10 tops. Whoops! I was expecting 20 so I asked if he could hold off on starting the order for another 10. “No problem!” he told me. Very accommodating and I noticed. I don’t personally feel that exists as much anymore as it should. So I thanked him and said I’d see him in 20.
We are off to a great start!
The area was very familiar to me, but somehow I’d never seen the restaurant before or seen any signs for it. I just knew it was between Casa Mia’s and the trailer park. Not the best of locations getting in and out of and it’s certainly easy to miss. The coffee place on the island kind of takes up a huge chunk of the real estate once you pull in, but it is what it is. No biggie.
That’s literally my ONLY ‘complaint’ from my first visit, and it’s not even a complaint. It just is.
I park and I'm happy to see they’re doing quite a bit of business for closing up shop in 20 minutes. There’s a bit of patio (or sidewalk) seating while the suns still out for another week or two. I walk into the restaurant and was greeted by smiles and welcomes from the entire staff, and I mean everyone! It’s a cozy little place and I wouldn’t mind having a meal there. I am told my food is ready so I walk up and I get to talking to Mama Blue, and she’s the absolute best!! She explained the dish and even made sure I wasn’t going to take a long time to eat it because the palm sugar consistency would change and while it would still be delicious, she wanted to make sure I had it at its peak! I told her I appreciated it and that I’d see her soon I’m sure. She then made sure I had utensils as I thanked them again and wished them a good evening. The Pad Thai was clearly made with care as visually it looked amazing! I took Mama Blue at her word so I ate it in my parking spot and what do you know?
Peak deliciousness!
I’m planning on going back soon to try something new. I read their story on their website and it made me like them even more. No pretentiousness, just a family following their dreams. And in looking at their menu, I loved the fact that it’s not bloated with page after page. So many places try doing way too much and don’t do anything well. Something tells me that Blooms path to success will be the exact opposite of that; doing a moderate number of dishes, but making them with love and care and crafting their meals to their own level of perfection. Like something they’d cook for their own family.
4.9 out of 5 makes all the sense in the world to me.
They’ve earned it.
I can’t lie.. from the customer service over the phone, to accommodating a request to delay my order with zero hesitation, to the warm welcome and genuine conversation, to giving me insight to the dish and caring that I devour it at its peak taste…
I felt like family for those few minutes.
My absolute favorite Thai restaurant in all of Washington! 💕 the food is delicious and the owner Blue and her family are such wonderful people. My husband and I always have a positive experience coming to their restaurant. We hope to be back soon!
Cute and welcoming restaurant. Great food, decent portions, fair prices, and friendly staff. Would eat here again. Highly recommend.
Best Thai in town!
A cute spot nestled in between the Plaza. The food was delish and the chef was sweet and the server very kind. I had ordered Pad Thai and my colleagues each ordered Crispy Garlic Chicken, Fried Spring Rolls, and Yellow Curry. I will be back to have lunch or dinner soon.💕
Can never get ahold of them to order take out. Never answer even though calling them multiple times and days
Best Thai food I have had in a long time. Definitely going back.
Delicious, service was lovely and very welcoming. Can't wait to come back
Small establishment but so worth the wait the food was amazing !
Great food, very well executed. Extremely friendly! Will be back
Amazing
This is my favorite Thai restaurant, hands down. The food is simply the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve tried a lot of Thai cuisine. The warm, homey atmosphere adds to the experience, making it truly top-tier. While seating is limited, don’t let that steer you away—this place is absolutely worth a visit.
Oh my God. If only they’d open a restaurant on Anderson Island. I’d eat there every day. So incredibly good. I’m a passionate Thai food lover and this was 1. Original 2. Amazing 3. Delicious. Try the drunken Udon. Had it with soft tofu. Cannot say enough great things about it. My husband had the red curry and agreed it was fantastic. We will be back every time we’re in Tacoma! Lucky you people who live nearby this restaurant. We are jealous.
Fantastic food and service! Neighborhood gem!
Everything was amazing and the portion sizes are generous! We tried the Basil Fried Rice, the Pad See Ew, and the garlic oil broccoli. Can’t wait to try more things on the menu.
I’ve tried almost every Thai place in Washington. This is hands down the best Thai food I’ve ever had in my life. Blue the owner is so welcoming with their family, this is our go to place. If you want to have the best Thai food and support your local small business, this is the spot. Their pad Thai is out of this world.
This place is absolutely amazing! Hubby and I stopped by as our Thai place is closed today and they may have just been replaced! Welcoming, friendly, food is out of this world and you just don’t see prices this reasonable. If there were more stars, I would give them the highest score! Thank you so much for this beautiful experience! We Will be back!!
This restaurant is amazing!!! Incredibly delicious food period and the best Thai food I’ve ever had, no contest. There are classics and some unique offerings and all of it was insanely good. We’ve driven all the way from Portland to eat this food. I wish it was closer so we could eat it every week!
Also, this is place is run by the sweetest family and the customer service is fantastic.
Show them lots of love and do yourselves a favor and eat here
Some of the best Thai food I've had! The service was fantastic, and even though they were busy, they managed to get excellent food out pretty quickly. It's clear they care about the food they're making and the service they're providing. We had the most amazing coconut prawns I've ever had, really excellent pad thai, and a very interesting and delicious drunken udon noodles.
Best Thai food I have ever had!! It’s a family owned restaurant, and they are the sweetest! Amazing customer service!
We first tried Bloom Thai in their first week of opening. The welcoming atmosphere and hospitality are second to none. Blue was so gracious and let us try samples of different foods. Everything was flavorful with a beautiful presentation. You can tell she takes pride in her business and food.
We returned again recently and were treated like family, this speaks volumes that she remembered us and took extra special care of us. Not often do I find such a gem that has amazing food, but also superb customer care.
We are forever customers and grateful they decided to plant their business in Lakewood.
I have been going here on a weekly basis! Amazing fresh tasting food! Best of all you get treated like family everytime! Customer service is excellent! Blue and her family are the kindest people I have ever met! I always look forward to coming here! Never had a bad experience ever! Highly recommend! 20 out of 10!
First time here and I was craving some thai coconut soup. Very friendly staff and although the thai coconut soup didn't taste the way I usually like it back in San Diego, they were generous enough to take it out of my tab.
Besides that, everything else was excellent! I recommend their crispy pork belly, and I'll be coming back
Alway treat everyone like family!! Great little spot with great food.
Hard to order from the website.
Some of the best food I’ve had in a while! 10/10! Highly recommend!
Fantastic Thai food!
Yummy!
Wonderful food, very fresh and delicious. Good portions. The service was friendly and fast and the people who own the restaurant are super nice! We also loved the modern decor. It can fill up so best to make a reservation but sometimes it's empty. You never know! But we love this place! Totally recommend it!
This place is a serious hidden gem! Atmosphere is inviting. Service is impeccable. The food: this honestly may be my favorite Thai place in the state.
We ordered shrimp wontons in tom yum sauce, pad Thai with chicken, crispy garlic chicken and basil fried rice with pork belly. The pad thai and garlic chicken were both excellently prepared and delicious, but what really captivated us were the shrimp and basil fried rice. The shrimp tom yum sauce was pleasantly spicy and sour. The basil fried rice was wonderful, full of crispy fried basil leaves and the pork belly: I can't say enough about the pork belly. The ends of the pork belly were fried to a cracker-like crispiness, while the interior remained juicy and tender.
I live a 30 minute drive from here, but I'll be making that drive from now on to eat here when I want Thai!
Such a great place! Everything on the menu is great!
Wow! The menu is not overly complicated and is really simple and just one page which means they're going to excel on all the dishes that they prepare, and really do they excel! The basil fried rice with pork belly was my favorite dish as the flavors going on in there were very unique and delicious with a hint of spice, and the pork belly was fried in such a way that it was crispy and absorbing the flavors of the dish. The shrimp wonton soup had such a great creamy, spicy flavor with big bites of shrimp. The pad Thai has a great flavor base to it as well. Service was exceptional and it is such a cute quaint little place to eat. Highly recommend!
Very good. All enjoyed the food. They were very accommodating for Vegan requests.
Wow! This is hands down the best thai food we have had in Tacoma for as long as I can remember. The setting is intimate and it's obvious there is a lot of love and intention in the way they have set it up, even down to the menu which is simple and excellent. The owner, Blue came out afterwards and we had a great conversation about food, travel, and family! We need more of these kinds of family businesses in the south sound, the kind where you can connect over beautiful food and even make friends. Also! Bloom's A frame sign was stolen the other day and they rely on it as their location is somewhat hidden from the street :( and I am sure they could use some love and support from patrons visiting and sharing about their visits.*note: they did not ask me to write this review, I just felt compelled as I had such a great experience. I recommend the Garlic Chicken and the Thai Iced tea (chef's kiss!). There are not a ton of great food options in Lakewood besides on South Tacoma Way, but now there is one more! This will definitely be my regular lunch spot for sure :)
This place is SPECTACULAR!!! The food is perfection! We shared 5 dishes and they were all delicious! I watched as other plates came out and they all looked incredible! Also, the family that owns the restaurant makes you feel at home. Once you walk in you feel welcome and cared for. Such a wonderful experience all around! Do yourself a favor and swing by --- and come hungry!!! Cheers!
Food was very hot and fresh. The noodles were super delicious. Reminds me of mom’s cooking, made with love and care 😋 The owner was very sweet and friendly. She let me try their ice tea which was also very good. Perfect for a hot summer day. The inside and outside of the restaurant was very well put together and homey. Would definitely eat here again. Please give them a try! Definitely recommend.
1st time there food was great and delivered fast nice cute place will go again
Absolutely delicious food, generous portions, fast and friendly service, and a clean, comfortable, and relaxing atmosphere! I highly recommend eating here and will definitely be back soon!
The best Thai restaurant! The customer service here is always impeccable. Blue never fails to make our experience a 10/10. The intimate indoor seating makes you feel like you are part of the Bloom Thai family. Don’t get me started on the Thai teas, if I could only drink that for the rest of my life I would!
Food was great! However, this restaurant needs to find a better way of organizing their space for customers. This restaurant is very small. There was only 4-5 tables, 2 of those tables were only able to fit 2 people. Customer service was okay, the greeter wasn’t that great at finding a solution for no space to seat us.
Most friendly restaurant I have been in for years. I fealt like a regular on my first trip. We will be back many times.
Simply the best Thai food I've ever had
The best coconut prawns I've ever had. Drunken noodles were very good as well. I probably wouldn't order the crispy garlic chicken again. It wasn't bad, just not my thing, because the people with me liked it. It was decorated very cute. Small menu and limited seating. It's a little confusing knowing if you are supposed to get your own plates and water because they are setting out, but the fork and napkins were at the table. They added cucumber to the water, which was a refreshing touch. The thai tea tasted like it was made with regular milk, so that was a little disappointing.
Taste very good.
Went with a group of girl for lunch. The waitress was very helpful when ordering, she was very hype to serve the mimosas. Our table shared all of the food ordered, all of it amazing. The atmosphere was very nice, real plants everywhere, bathroom was clean and had good toilet paper. I look forward to coming back!
Came in with a group of ten, staff was careful with food allergies. We had the pork belly appetizer, pad thai, red curry, and the mango sticky rice. Just really tasty good made by good people. Check it out!
This place serves seriously delicious, authentic Thai food in a welcoming and hospitable atmosphere. The chef and waiter were so friendly and attentive. I loved the vibe and will definitely be returning to this Lakewood gem!
Great dood and awesome customer service! thank you 😴
Bloom was so nice and personable. She took the time to explain the menu and the diffrences in her entrees compared to other thai restaurants. I wish I could give her more stars. Each aspect of our meal from the egg rolls to the mango sticky rice were outta this word
Amazing,
Food is so good! I got the Chicken Pad Thai and the flavor was so amazing, so well seasoned and perfectly balanced. The woman (who I think might be the owner) was so friendly and helpful. My mom can't have gluten and she helped go through the menu of what she could have, it was awesome. The other staff were also very nice and helpful. I almost never eat leftovers and I'm genuinely excited to eat this because YUM.
Really good Pad thai!! Very nice staff, quick service. Probably needs a bigger dining room with food this good.
Small strip mall order at the counter type Thai restaurant. Not a place to impress a date but adequate for friends and family. Ordered 125 worth of food and everything was 5 stars except the pad thai which oddly was only a 3 in my book. Everything else was excellent. I would eat there again.
Best small that restaurant I've been to. Highly recommend and more people need to know about this place. Garlic fried chicken had amazing flavor and fried perfectly. Pad Thai had the best texture, and the mango sticky rice while I don't like desserts was the best in the area.
Amazing food AND service! The woman who helped us was so kind and friendly. The food was awesome (especially the mango sticky rice and pad thai). Highly recommend!!
Best in the area for sure!
I saw a video on Instagram of Bloom Thai Cusisine and could not wait to try it out! Ever since I saw the video, I was dying to try the mango sticky rice and fresh coconut prawns. When we arrived, there was no indoor seating, there are only a few tables located inside. The only seating options were outside and it was chilly out, which instantly was a let down. The way the restaurant is set up is you order and pay inside, and then your food is brought to you. When I went to order, I was so bummed out that they were out of coconut prawns and mango sticky rice. I asked if we could get mango crème brûlée instead, and they were also out of that. I had my heart set on these for weeks and we drove a long ways. With the lack of menu items and only chilly outdoor seating, we were not having the best experience. We ordered two Thai iced teas which were very good. The pork belly and the sauce it comes with are a MUST try. It was crispy and the flavors of the sauce were well balanced. We also ordered the crispy garlic chicken and shrimp wonton with Tom Yom sauce. The date was saved, the food was so good! We loved the fresh flavored food with well balanced spices and herbs. The food was delicious, but the combo of lack of comfortable seating and lack of menu items that we were looking into leaves a 4 star review. We hope next time we dine here we can try the menu items that were missing.
Had the crispy pork belly with Chinese broccoli, drunken udon, pad Thai and crispy garlic chicken. Best Thai food my family and I have had in ages. 10/10 would recommend.
