Thai Restaurant in Issaquah Downtown
Good Thai food but quite a bit on the sweet side. Probably catering to American taste. Portion is generous and price reasonable. Service is friendly and they are new owners who took over the restaurant only a few months ago. The location is not the most salient or conspicuous so there will really need to be a destination restaurant offering good food with good value. I hope they will do well.
Khao San Thai Restaurant offers an impressive variety of vegetarian dishes that are both flavorful and satisfying. The rich and creamy red curry stands out, with perfectly cooked vegetables and a balance of spice. Their spring rolls is authentic an and equally delightful, featuring fresh ingredients and a tangy sauce. The restaurant is so welcoming and their staff is accommodating, ensuring that vegetarian preferences are respected. Overall, it’s a fantastic spot for location , ambience and flavors for looking to enjoy authentic Thai cuisine.
I would’ve given Khao San 5 stars maybe 2-3 years ago, but recently I’ve noticed a drop in the quality of food. Especially for takeouts.
They are very generous about giving decent quantity of the meat you order but does not taste well.
The beef The previously creamy red and green curries now have a consistency of water, and the chicken satay which used to be soft and well done is now over cooked and stiff.
The only dish that has maintained its quality were the Pad Lee mao and pad see ew. I don’t know why every time I order takeout, pretty much all flat noodles will be chopped into small pieces.
Maybe it’s their chefs’ preferred way to stirfry noodles, but not me.
It’s all depends on your luck. It will take some time even you order online. It’s a mystery.
Today I just instantly lost my appetite when I opened my takeout boxes..
Amazing place for Thai cuisine. We tried the tofu pad thai, chicken panang curry, crispy garlic chicken. The garlic chicken and panang curry were exceptional. The pad thai was good but not a must-try though. I will return to this place for sure.
We only did a take-out so can’t comment on the service but the ambience looked neat.
Khao San Thai in Issaquah is a delightful neighborhood spot that consistently delivers good food. While the dishes may not fully capture the depth of rich Thai flavors, they are still enjoyable and satisfying. We tried a variety of items, and although the flavors were somewhat similar across dishes, the overall experience was positive.
The friendly atmosphere and welcoming service add to the charm of this place, making it one of the better Thai options in Issaquah. Despite a change in management four months ago, the quality has remained steady, which is commendable. Khao San Thai is definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and craving Thai cuisine.
The food here is yummy- they are able to accommodate gluten free with most dishes. The service was quick and kind. It is also impressively clean! Would happily return.

This place is fantastic, every time.
Great service with awesome fresh food
Really fantastic Thai food. The Pad Eggplant was perfectly cooked (not fried) with a flavorful sauce. The Ba Mee Hang was something I haven’t seen before and was equally amazing. Perfectly cooked noodles, a delightful slightly tangy sauce with tender chicken and roasted peanuts. Other table’s dishes looked equally amazing.
Definitely going back to try more.
Service was very good. Restaurant was clean and well maintained. Atmosphere was just fine. Parking can get a bit crowded but spots are available.
This restaurant is so good! Very big portion and reasonable price. Recommend to try Crispy garlic chicken and Spicy Basil, we love these menu :)
WOW WOW WOW
Everything was amazing. Atmosphere, service extremely quick and food. Staff is extremely friendly. Highly recommend
Get the Tofu fresh Rolls for appetizer. Best i ever had

Genuine Thai food and terrific service. I was offered a nice seat with iced water while I waited for food.
This is hands down the best Thai restaurant! The food is absolutely incredible. We had the Crispy Garlic Chicken, and it was perfectly cooked with the right amount of crunch and flavor. The noodles we ordered were also delicious!

Great food. HUGE portions.
Two dishes were enough for our Indian family of 4
Loved the Khao San with Beef
The food was excellent. The Pad Thai, veggie rolls as appetizers and chicken curry were awesome. The service was great, friendly and very welcoming. Will definitely come here again.
Easy parking and delicious Thai food. The fish cakes appetizer was delicious and beautiful presented.
Great food, friendly service
We are regular customers here. The food is consistently good but they need to update their hours to reflect the dine-in and take out times. They proudly display on neon signs that they are open till 9:00 PM, but they force you to take to go even at 8:25 PM. Waiters get angry when you ask questions, has happened a few times in the past.
Delicious food
Really great experience, had some of the best panang curry that I've ever had. Also super accommodating for gluten-free options which I really appreciated. Excited to come back in the near future!
Best thai food I ever had in the United States. I can taste of a fire incense. Amazing period.
Best Thai in town. We dtive from S. Seattle to eat there.
Some of the best Thai in town, but feels a bit like a cafeteria when it gets busy
Fresh, tastes fairly authentic. Real thai spice level if you ask for it. Loved the lychee ice tea!
Very good place and delicious.
The owner is so nice! She gave me and my boyfriend free drinks just because and their food is great :)
Simply amazing!
We are locals and have been coming here for years now. It hurts me to say this but the last 2/3 times we’ve come here, the food has not been the same high standard. We keep coming back hoping it was an off night, however the flavors are now consistently watered down and the dishes are not distinctive anymore. No fresh herbs, and the sauces are not as rich and flavorful as they used to be. I worry that increases in food costs have made them reduce their quality to save where they can and now it’s starting to taste like any average generic Thai place. Or they got a new chef. So disappointed and please please please change your recipes to how they used to be! You were the only great Thai place in town… now you’re joining the average joes :(
Best Thai food in Seattle!!
We used to be regulars here, and the flavors had always been great. We came in to eat and the service was horrendous. The woman with glasses straight up walked away when we would ask her for basic things: spoons, napkins, more water. Once we got the food, it was cold as if it had been sitting out, and the green curry tasted very artificial. It takes months to gain a regular customer and only 1 unfortunately experience to lose one.
Khao San Thai Cuisine has become the go-to spot for my wife and me whenever we're craving Thai food in Issaquah—and considering the competition, that's saying a lot! Each visit, we challenge ourselves to try something new from the menu, and we're yet to be disappointed. The flavors are simply off the charts.
One standout dish that has left a lasting impression is the Tom Kha soup. My grandpa had a saying for food this good—it'll make you "smack the roof of your mouth off." I never fully grasped what he meant until I tasted this soup. It's a flavor bomb in the best possible way.
The Spring Rolls and Fried Calamari are our go-to starters, each offering a perfect blend of texture and taste. As for the mains, the Panang Curry and Pad Thai have become our repeat offenders. They're the kind of dishes you find yourself craving at random times of the day.
We usually opt for takeout, and I have to say, the only real challenge we've faced with Khao San is getting through on the phone to place an order. It's a testament to how popular and loved this place is. Despite this minor hurdle, it's absolutely worth the effort.
I'd highly recommend Khao San Thai Cuisine to anyone looking for authentic, flavorful Thai dishes. The variety and quality of the food here are unmatched, making every meal a culinary adventure worth experiencing.
Try the salads! Delicious!
Amazing food and service!!
Tommy was Awesome, Food and service are great
My family and I love this place. We had been all over Issaquah to Sammamish to Bellevue looking for a good Thai place. There are a handful of good ones, but Khao San never disappoints. It’s been our go-to Thai spot for a few years now. The food is delicious and moderately priced. The staff takes time off each summer (restaurant is shut down) because they travel to Thailand…the food is obviously very authentic! Our usual dishes are: khao pad gra pao (rice dish), pad kee mao (noodle dish), and the yellow curry.
Tried their Pad Thai last week and it was delicious.
We love this restaurant! We eat here at least once a month.
Food had no taste or flavor! Terrible! Will not go again!
Best Thai food in the city. Not what I expected but very happy.
Phone on hold never pick it up.
Very bad attitude.
Don’t order take out. Terrible restaurant.
A very comfortable restaurant with excellent food. We enjoyed our meal. The staff service was excellent and friendly. We went before going to the Village Theater and enjoyed the easy walk from here to there up Front Street. Of course, downtown Issaquah is charming.
Review based on Asian stomach, will keep it short - the restaurant has typical Thai food menu, but what we ordered(green curry, Tom yum, fried rice, pad kee mao) all taste different from what I typically expect, Tom yum is way too sour and dominated the entire soup, green curry tastes… interesting… the food safety is questionable, since I had a grain of rice in my water cup right from the start
Tasty food right in the heart of Issaquah
Best Thai food in Issaquah....and there are a lot of good Thai restaurants in Issaquah, so that is saying a lot!
Big portions, average food - pad Thai and crispy chicken. Yellow curry was very good flavor but very watery. Rice looked and tasted like instant box rice. Service was great! Always had full water glass and meals came quickly. Average price.
A local surprise gem! The friendly service and yummy food will bring us back again and again. Close quiet location.
Used to easily be my favorite takeout in issaquah, great service, food, and really acceptable wait times for the food provided. However they changed almost all their staff and it took a big downturn, food is mediocre on good days and outright cold on bad ones and its just not the same. If you want some okay thai this place is by no means bad now, just worse.
Enjoyed this restaurant that we stumbled upon! Food was excellent. Will go back!
The food is delicious!! It has quickly become our new favorite restaurant. The service can be inconsistent but overall it's a great dining experience.
Weird, I left a review with pictures of our food but it disappeared and was replaced with 5 stars. Nope. First time we went it was delicious, awesome service, and we we couldn’t wait to return. When we did, it was like night and day. First in at 5 for dinner, last to get our food. It was cold garlic chicken. Most it was fried crumbs like you’d find in a fish basket at Long John Silver’s. Our waitress was awful. I’ve waited tables, I don’t complain or write reviews like this but it was that bad. We even got sick from the food. The place is clean and the atmosphere good. We were excited to find this place but after the second experience won’t be back.
I would’ve given Khao San 5 stars a couple of months ago, but recently I’ve noticed a drop in the quality of food. The previously creamy red and green curries now have a consistency of water, and the chicken satay which used to be soft and well done is now over cooked and tough. The only dish that has maintained it’s quality was the pad thai.
Great spot! Good food, not too pricey, and they can make it spicy. No hassle when I asked for something vegan! Did me a solid when I ran out of water on a hot day, too. I'll be coming back here next time I'm on the East Side!
The crispy chicken is delicious 🐔
Pleasant dining room, great food. Will definitely eat here again.
The establishment has a parking lot and it was easy to get in and out. The restaurant was clean and the server was nice, but lack some professionalism. The phad kee mao and the Khao Pad Nam Prik Pao was good, but all the food we ordered overall was okay. They were not that flavorful.
Very clean and nice. Huge portions and not a lot of seats. Feels like a great value and the food tastes great.
Update: New team and new chef and Khao Sun is not the same anymore 😞 this used to be my favorite Thai restaurant and now I am sitting with my average tasting food and missing the old food.
Ordered multiple times and this place has never failed us. We think it’s one of the best if not the best Thai place on the east side. We love Pad Thai and the curries and they make everything vegan if needed.
The food was not that good as expected. Environment is cozy and customer service is friendly but the food not that good. The crab fried rice has barely any crab I found. The soup was very salty and sour. The food is pricey.
Khao San has been my favorite Thai restaurant until very recently. The menu is new and may be chef too. Food is not as tasty and flavorful as it used to be. I ordered 3 dishes and fried tofu was super hard and tasteless in all 3 dishes. They have stopped carrying jungle curry on the menu which used to be one of the best items on the menu. I will give them one more try but if my experience is similar then I’d need to find another go to Thai place.
This review is based on a few visits.
Overall - Would not return for dine-in. May be take out order.
Food - Hit & miss. Sometimes it approaches 4* + and other times it is not worth it at all. We have tried a variety of dishes. The stir fry dishes are probably their best, the curries are usually over done. Khao soi, when it is right, is great.
Service - This is where the restaurant really needs to pay attention. The one server that we usually get is quite forgetful and often forgets about the table. We went during busy times and during low traffic and it was really bad service. There is also a communication barrier which is fine but she makes no attempt to clarify if she is confused about what was said. Often we have to walk up to the main counter to ask for what we need and to pay our bill. We went this afternoon and same thing again. Stuff happens and we get it and don't like leaving a low star review but other diners need to know.
Hopefully they see this and fix their service quality as well as inconsistency in food quality.
This is now one of my favorite restaurants. They are always so kind and helpful. Their Pad Kee Mao is by far my favorite food. I have it every week.
Lovely place, great food, great service, see you tomorrow!
top thai choice in the Seattle area, especially in Issaquah
Tomkha soup is only good out of the things we ordered. We ordered fried chicken (okay, but little sweet for the dish to me at least), fresh tofu rolls (are not freshly made :(, they were premade and refrigerated and did not taste well), and the last - Swimming Rama is terrible. We left the whole dish as it is.
Amazing tamarind noodles! Seafood medley is delicious as a protein option!
This place is amazing, very very high quality authentic Thai food. Great service, MVP staff with great recommendations. This is now my local Thai place.
This restaurant has so many gluten free options. The staffs are so nice and carefully tell you what dishes you should safely order without gluten contamination. ☺️
Spicier than beef Kylie Jenner's. WOWZA. 4 stars since I ordered 4 spicy
The wait was long but the food was awesome! Very helpful staff in ensuring that my food was catered to my needs and delivery to the table was very very fast! That made up for the long wait
This crew is sharp, attentive, & always deliver consistently great Thai food. My wife & I love their dishes, and highly recommend this restaurant.
Best Thai food I have had in this country. Don't go anywhere else! What those who have not lived overseas don't understand is that limited English-speaking ability on the phone is a GOOD thing, it means the food will be authentic. Cooked by people who grew up in Thailand. We ordered by phone, it was ready in 15 min for pickup, hot and well packed. Restaurant was packed with a waiting line. All the right signs! Great open kitchen, and entire staff was Thai. What more can you want?
They are the best. Hand's down. Just eat here.
Owner is a liar and sort of an a*hole
Wanted to try the place because of the 4.6 stars on google. The place is poorly managed and rude staff. Better avoid.
Like their pad see ew and glass noodle soup. Consistency great.
Best Thai hands down! I’ve eaten at dozens of Thai restaurants around king county and Khao San is the best by far. Hot and sour soup is amazing as is the som tum, cashew chicken, green curry duck, chicken satay, pad see ew, wonton soup, and yum neau! Everything we’ve ever ordered has been fresh, delicious, and robust in flavor!
Still love this restaurant and their staff! '23
Not the best customer service and the food was too spicy..
Best thai restaurant in town
Excellent food! The spring rolls were cooked to perfection, delicate crunch on the outside, and the vegetables inside were crunchy and well seasoned. The Swimming Rama was excellent. I will definitely be back to try other menu items.
Great food. Good service. Their number 3 level spice is really spicey! Which isn't bad, but just beware. Their food is authentic because it is on the Thai spicey scale, not the American Thai spicey scale.
Ordered in for the wife, she said it was great, even after multiple reheats due to the babies "it got better each time"
Rama noodle
New to town and gave Khao San a try. Ordered takeout. Spring rolls, red curry chicken and papaya salad. Everything was out of this world fantastic and I will definitely be back to try more dishes. Additionally service was excellent, large portions, and the food was packaged so that everything held temp perfectly.
I would love to try more new dishes, but I keep ordering the panang curry with tofu or the tom yum because they're too addictive to try new things.
Every once in a while, I try to order take out during dinner hours and the phones are down/they're closed unexpectedly. Not sure why, but I temporarily settle for another place and then always come back to Khao San later in the week!
Food is good. Ordering tests patience.
I have only done take out The food is good. But the lady on the phone just gets on the nerves.. she will keep nagging on you need to specify this or that with every dish, or order quickly because she doesn't have time.
If I specifically say I want everything two star (spice level) "no you have to say per dish". If I miss restating fried tofu or soft tofu in one dish, she will impatiently chide "you need to say which one".. but not try to remember I said soft tofu for everything upfront and that I ordered three dishes with that already in that order.
And heaven forbid if you have to look up another item for a few seconds... Then she gets on your case to hurry up. It's not like I am taking five minutes on the call.
And this is after you get through the phone which takes forever.
Suggest the restaurant to do online ordering if they want to serve customers better
This place has some insane curry imo. Great atmosphere and great food every time
Really good food. Tasty. My friend wanted a stir fry dish, and the waitress said can't be done, did not even want to ask the cook or chef. Basic service, but worth the food.
Best Thai food in Issaquah
I am so stoked that my husband and I finally found a great Thai place in the area. This place has some of the best Pad Thai we’ve ever had. Food is amazing, portions are great, and prices are reasonable. We will be back 😋
Amazing thai food
Service and staff was very friendly and nice 👍 food was delicious and came to our table really quickly, lots of dishes I can't wait to try here
Ordered for take out and everything was excellent and the spicyness was exactly as we specified.
The food here is great. I watched our waitress write down the order in thai. It's a somewhat small restraunt, normal decor, so it's the food that makes this place. I was very impressed with dishes from the chef specialities, and the quality of the beef in dishes I have tried.
This place is legit!!
Highly recommend!!
Thai is one of my favorite cuisine and love trying new restaurants. This one was one of them. We ordered golden tea, fried tofu and spring roll for appetizer and for entrees we had vegetable paradise. Fried tofu had no taste as such but dip in hot sauce for flavor. For main course we had Rad na and pineapple fried rice.
Overall food was tasty and delicious.
Rad Na was soupy wide noodles.
Pineapple fried rice was the so flavorful
Best Thai in Issaquah! Very clean restaurant with friendly staff and the food is outstanding!
I ordered pad kee mao and a sticky rice dessert. Both were surprisingly good. Great service.
It can be quite spicy so I recommend getting level 1 or 2 out of 5 if you want to play it safe.
Their food is amazing! And prices are pretty decent too. They could probably use an additional server but I guess in this economy it's tough to afford more staff for everyone.
Favorite Thai in Issaquah. Always our go-to for loading up on delicious noodles before a run or hike the next day.
We love this place for good authentic Thai food. Their pad khee mao wide rice noodles with vegetables is right on point. I love their vegan options and their thai iced coffee.
They are closed for a family event till August end, 2022.
The food was good. I'm not a fan of restaurants that just tell you to get out your phone and take a picture of a QR code to view the menu. I think phones should be left at home. Lol the takeout menu was pretty small print so I just took a guess at something to order. And that is the reason this place only gets four stars from me.
Amazing food .
The only problem is the person taking orders. She doesn't understand what I am speaking and vice versa. I even tried to do place an order with help of my native English speaking friend. We got frustrated and visited the restaurant as placing order over the phone was impossible.
She has to make an effort to understand the customers without being rude.
Best Thai food I've found yet. It's soooo good. I recommend the Pad Thai or Pad Sew Yu. Both are delicious. The 5 stars is actually really spicy in my opinion. I usually get 5 stars at other places but this is the only one that is actually really really spicy.
Amazing place! Think before ordering the spice level because it is actually spicy!
The food here is consistently delicious, whether for take out or dine in. Warning: when they say it's spicy, it's really spicy. As someone who normally orders 4 stars, or "medium - hot," 2 stars here is enough for me.
Standard Thai fare capably prepared with equally capable service.
There are many Thai restaurants in the area and have tried many. This place is the only one I've tried that tasted authentic. Most of the ones around here are changed to fit the American taste.
This is our favorite Thai restaurant on the Eastside. The food is constantly incredible and they have great service.
My new favorite Thai restaurant. I love their Tom Yum soup. It's the best I've had, and the beef salad is excellent.
Takeout portion was about half the size of Noodle Boat. Not worth the value.
I asked the lady serving us about the oil used for cooking, as it appeared very low quality. The response I got was vague and dismissive and she could tell me what oil was being used.
I love this place!! Great portion sizes for the cost and a wide variety of dishes. The only thing I've noticed is that the garlic chicken (which is fantastic!!!) seems a bit over priced for the portion size. You do get white rice on the side, but that still doesn't justify the high price IMO. But I still think they deserve 5 stars. They definitely have the best Thai food in Issaquah.
Having been to more Thai restaurants in the Seattle area, this wasn't at par.
The food is always good here. Our favorite is the Khao soi with chicken. Green curry and fried rice is good too. Loved their black sticky rice and mango sticky rice too.
Amazing Thai food
Waited for our food for over 40 minutes, we ordered our food with appetizer and our meals,,,
10 minutes later a groups arrived and were seated next to us, the server took their orders. We waited for our appetizer still no appetizers after 30 minutes of waiting however the people who were seated 10 minutes after us, were served all their food. Needless to say, we left without our food. Bad service I will not recommend this place. 😡 After living here in Issaquah for over 27 years and trying to support our local restaurants and small businesses, I don't recommend this Restaurant .
Really nice service and they were very accommodating by letting us eat at their closing time. The food was amazingly flavorful and I recommend this highly.
Delicious! Best Thai in Issaquah. Now open for dining in!
