Decided to try this place as I drive by it every week. The restaurant was at 20% capacity when I walked in. This looks like a converted home. It took a couple of minutes to get recognized and be seated. The menus were on the table, and I decided on the Mongolian beef, fried rice, and hot and sour soup. The hot and sour soup was brought immediately. It was neither hot nor sour. It was disappointingly sweet but had the correct vegetables. The main course was brought a few minutes later by the cook. The fried rice was not fried, it was white rice mixed with vegetables and formed with a bowl. The rice had no flavor, which was disappointing also. The Mongolian beef was average. Pricing is at market. Ventilation grills need cleaning. The bathroom sink is coming off the wall. The front end of the restaurant needs to be organized and neatened. The server was preoccupied and never came to my table to check on the dinner.
Tried this place for a second time because they have a good egg drop soup. The soup was OK, the deep fried egg rolls seemed like they were from Costco, and the Fried Udon noodles with chicken I had were a bit bland.
Moreover, I was totally turned off seeing the owner repeatedly go over to a table near by and listening to the seemingly overjoyed owner and a patron going on about "history", "Obama bad", and all the "good" the current administration is doing by cutting everything. I don't know how all this cutting by the rich will benefit these two working class people, but I can say I am cutting going to this restaurant out of my future because the food was mediocre, and I won't support those who gleefully want to hurt others to benefit themselves.
I don't like to give negative reviews but people need to be aware. We wanted to like this place cuz it's in an eclectic house and looks interesting. BUT... beware of the food - bad.
Pho: Worst pho we've ever had. They brought us old bean sprouts so we lost our appetite before our first bite - couldn't put bean sprouts in the pho. Then we tasted the soup... what is this flavor? We eat a lot of pho... this one? Tasted like oil and water - no flavor. They gave us hoisin sauce which just made it taste like hoisin sauce. The chicken breast chunks were too big and slimy. The noodles were overcooked. I don't think they should be serving pho.
Others: Singapore noodles had huge chunks of flavorless chicken breast. Tasted like oil and light curry sauce only - menu said spicy but it was not spicy in the least. Flavorless and oily. I had to add Sriracha but then it just tasted like Sriracha.
Salad rolls: not bad - wrapped a little thick so had a food court feel but the flavor was good and they seemed fresh.
Overall we ate less than half of the food before we were not feeling well because we had just spent $45 for bad food.
If you live around there please encourage the owners to invest in some menu and cooking help.
This is my favorite Chinese restaurant. For 18 years, my daughter and I been loyal customers. When we first started going, my daughter was 3 years old. The owners' daughter was close to the same age as mine. It is nice seeing our daughters grow up together. The owners are husband and wife. They are very nice couple. Their food is very good. I highly recommend South Pacific Bistro.
I just moved into town and have been trying places around. This is one of the worst asian restaurants I've ever been to. The fried rice was so awful, I feel like I would have to throw it in my wok at home to fix it.
They were friendly inside, but everything we ordered was the worst example of it I've ever had. Portions and price were exactly what I expected but the food was a huge disappointment. We ordered pad thai, general tso, ho fon, and fried rice and honestly I don't think any of it was good enough to order again. I'm convinced that all the good reviews are from people who have never left this town, because growing up in NY, living everywhere from Biloxi MS, to St Louis, to Chehalis, I didn't know you could even mess up Chinese food this bad.
Food is fresh and delicious. Staff is friendly and attentive. Good size portions. Atmosphere is kinda weird, no music and not very private. But the food is worth the visit. Yum
We have been going to South Pacific Bistro for over 20 years

Food was poorly cooked. Chicken and rice beyond dry. A black hair was found in the Lo Mein. Horrible. Never would I recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Really great food, friendly owner, loved it!
I come here once a week. Highly recommend the Tai Soup!
Always consistently good food and service. Our kiddos enjoy the phò as much as we do!

This is a small family restaurant running by only a husband and wifw...very friendly, the food is amazing and the prices will not break the bank!

Great people, great food, reasonable prices, and fresh local vegetables are often used when available. Best kept secret in Lewis County. Our favorite dishes are cashew chicken, Japanese undon noodles, and their pho soup.
Food was good, friendly staff, interesting takes on Asian food. Worth a try 😊
By far best Asian cuisine in town
Food had no flavor. The Pho was very bland .
I really like this place alot. It's ran by a very nice family. I love their beef pho. The best flavored broth I've ever had! I highly recommend!
Spaghetti o pad Thai ! The worst I ever had.
Stood at the door, waited to be seated or possibly seat yourself... maybe? No signs indicating and no one to greet us. Stood at the door and waited a few minutes and no one showed up to meet us. Just leaves an undesirable feeling. Maybe another time 🤦
Been great forever.
Good food fast also
They need to update their hours apparently. Drove 20mins while sick to get some pho and they were closed when everything online and even their hours posted on the building said they were open.
I've never been to this restaurant before, but it's won my heart for sure. I ordered the Thai Curry Chicken Lunch Special with egg flower soup, and it was magnificent! The egg flower soup was delectable, and had a great flavor, the curry was spiced just right, and very flavorful, the rice was cooked perfectly, and the spring roll is super crunchy.
Overall I give this restaurant a 5/5 if you're looking for a quick bite.
My wife and I love this place and I have lived in Centralia for 54 years!!! The owners are also very nice people wouldn't go anywhere else!!!
best food in chehalis. food doesn't take long to make and service is very nice
Such a hard working, sweet couple.
First time going to this place today after driving by it for 2 years. I should have just drove by again. $17 for a soup and Pad Thai. Pad Thai was over cooked, with burnt black egg bits, the sauce did taste a bit off but couldn't tell if it was because of the burnt egg. I ate half only because I'm literally exhausted, famished, and have had a horrible last few days with nothing to eat.
I won't be returning, and do yourself a favor and go to Shanghai in Centralia, much tastier.
this place is really good, and cheap! love their lunch menu too. the lady is so nice and friendly! cook is also very nice!
one of my favorite places, i make sure to go at least once a week! the women is very nice, service is great and the food (beef pho and sweet n’ sour chicken) are my favorites :)
Great place to eat. Wonderful owner operator. Kind friendly warm people. I will go back there.
Excellent food, great service. We'll definitely be back!
Great people and a large menu if pan-Asian food.
July 2023 - It's been a while since I was at South Pacific Bistro, and appears to be the same staff as last time I was here, so I don't know what has changed, but it's changed. I couldn't help but notice that the quantity of food on the plates varied for each person in the restaurant, not just at our table. I also noted that silverware and glasses being uses are getting very stained to the point of questioning whether or not they are clean in the beginning. Does make me wonder the last time the health department performed an inspection. The quality/flavor of the food was very poor compared to previous visits. And the overall service, unless you are friends of the employees or a group of six or more, do not plan on staff caring if you are ready to order, need a refill, have a question, or anything. You do not exist to them. This used to be a favorite spot for some good food, but with this being the new food and service style, I will not go again, nor will I recommend to anyone ever again.

South Pacific Bistro, blink and you've missed it, and missed out on some good food.
They are located just a couple minutes off of I-5 (maybe 0.5 miles, so easy if you're traveling) and looks almost like a house on the side street with a bunch of windows. But once inside it's what you'd expect for a small diner if you will. About the only thing you won't find here that you might elsewhere is a soda dispenser. If you want pop, you'll be served 12oz cans.
This was my third visit, and I ordered the General Tso Chicken with fried rice. Overall the food was great as always, though I think the chicken and sauce could have been a bit spicier, the prices were fair, and service was good.
If you're in the area, looking for a good hot meal, or traveling and want something close to the freeway, it's worth stopping in if you're in the mood for Chinese food and don't want to feel like you just pulled into downtown.
Great place to eat. Bring the whole family.

Known for excellent soup!
Small home town place with great food.
First time I ever ate here, mad I missed it all these years, no complaints, good service, big menu.
Very small amount of food for the price but the food was okay
Came in at 2pm to a empty restaurant and greeted by a very nice woman, our seating was to our choice. Hot tea was served and it had much more bold and fragrant flavor than other Asian restaurants in Lewis county. Very large variety of Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai food choices. Our party consisted of three people and we selected the family meal for three which came with: Pot Stickers and spring rolls. Pot Stickers were great with the ginger and soy dipping sauce. The spring rolls weren't all that great in my opinion. Fried rice was nicely made with light soy flavor. Mongolian Beef was tender and flavorful. Chicken lo mein was light and freshly prepared. Sweet and sour chicken was crispy, hot and fried to perfection, and the sauce was not gloopy and not too sweet, which is the way we prefer it. The hot and sour soup was fresh and delicious as well as the egg flower soup which included water chestnut and vermicelli noodles a very nice contrast in consistency.
Service was delightful and not intrusive. Attentive and polite
----------------------------------------------------------
The only negatives were the watermelon bubble tea, it tasted very artificial and chalky for a milk tea based bubble tea. Also soda was only available in 12 ounce cans, which is okay but not my favorite way of getting soda from a restaurant.
We will be returning again to try the multitude of other Asian dishes on the menu. Owners seem very passionate about their business.
Great little place with a variety of Asian choices!
Great food, pretty good selection of food and well priced
Decent Chinese in nowhere
Great food really nice owners great service
Excellent service, delicious hot food, clean and quiet. Will be back for sure; love this place!
A little cozy. But great food.
First time eating here tonight. We picked up a few things to take home and everything has been so delicious. We’ll be back for sure. Thank you! 😊
Great food, affordable, and the owners were really nice!
Blown away by how good the food and service is! Very kind and friendly folks who make amazing food for a very good price. We had the Tum Ka Gai and the beef pho, and nothing could be better on a cold night!
Love their spicy Thai soup!
Seafood hot and sour soup is spicy hot, sour, loaded with seafood, and absolutely delicious.
Pho was excellent as was the summer rolls.
The building to have a sit-down dinner is quite quaint, and cute,I believe this business is family owned and ran, this is the 2nd time I've visited, and I do rather enjoy the hot-N-sour soup, they have according to window painting BUBBLE TEA, there is a good sized menu and a great variety to choose from,if you can not find a spot to park in the 3 regular and 1 handicap parking spots in the front of the building there are a few more behind the building and you can access it through driveways on either side of the building or an alley.
If you haven't eaten here before maybe give it a try.
Great food good service. Best Pho I have had in years.
Very friendly service
Only place to get Pho in the area and it's good too!
Best pad Thai in the area!
The number of positive reviews is mind-boggling.
The Ice tea was bitter, old, and starting to turn sour.
The Soup was awful, neither of us cold even finish it. All we could taste is vinegar.
It took 47 minutes to get our food.
I had the "Ocean Delight" and my dining companion had the Pad Thai.
The Ocean Delight was actually ok - but not great - flavor wise, But the scallops tasted off (I only ate one, and didn't eat the rest of them because I was afraid they were going to make me sick). The fried rice that came with it was awful though. It was dry, and flavorless.
My dining companion's Pad Thai was inedible. The noodles were so overcooked they were practically mush. What was most puzzling however, was that there were also hard clumps of undercooked noodles in the same dish! The bean sprouts were also overcooked, and mixed into the dish instead of being fresh and separate, as is traditional with Pad Thai. Lastly, the whole thing just tasted like vinegar and heat. My dining companion couldn't even finish it it was so bad, they only ate a couple of bites, and I ate one, to try it.
As stated in the beginning of this review, the number of positive reviews is quite a mystery.
My dining companion and I are going to assume they used to be much better, but suffered a staff change or something similar, because this restaurant is not deserving of even the 1 star I'm required to give it in order to leave this review.
Reading through other reviews, you can see that most of the positive ones are from a year or more ago, supporting my assumption that they've had some sort of staff change or something. Also, several of the positive reviews actually say that the food is BAD, but the staff is nice (to be fair, they were), which makes one think they are leaving positive reviews just for that reason.
Also of note is that MANY of the past reviews echo the exact same complaints that I have specifically about the soup, the fried rice, and the pad thai.
Don't eat here.
- D
I ordered food from here through DoorDash but when my dasher got to the restaurant, they told her my food had already been picked up by someone else and they refused to remake it so they cancelled my order after I had already waited over an hour. So I had to drive into town to pick up food from somewhere else during my lunch break at work. Finally got to eat my lunch over 2 hours after I initially ordered food. I won't be ordering or visiting here again since this is the 2nd time I have had issues with ordering food from them.
Mediocre
First time trying this place. Son had orange chicken, I had Pho. Have to say it was awesome food!!. Will be back for sure.
Great food. Fast service. And the people that own it are so nice. My wife and I went there on a date and had a great time.
Chicken curry was delicious
Food wasn't great, sad environment and and really need to work on their cleaning
Food was fantastic especially the Singapore Noodles, but the service was slow, albeit not due to negligence but they were busy and only had one server. Inside could use a little sprucing up to improve the atmosphere. But this is the kinda place you remember and can count on for an awesome meal.
Fantastic food and friendly attentive staff
Family ran great people amazing food I enjoy every visit limited seating but to go orders are ok
Good food, service slow.
Very nice people and good food
We found this on the web as we were traveling north. STOP HERE for really good Thai or Vietnamese or other Asian type food. The hostess/server knows her people and they all love the food. I had pho and my husband had pud thai. We also had the best vege fresh roll. Everything tasted and looked delicious.
I had chicken pho and my husband had pad Thai. Delicious! The food coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled amazing. Want to go back and try it again..
Good taste like it was microwaved. Friendly staff! Just not what I expected.
Their food here is the best tasting in town! My favorite place to get Pho!
Worst fried rice ever.
The only Chinese food I like. I honestly cannot stand any other place. And the owners are so friendly and they remember you which is amazing.
I had the pho and the broth tasted funny, there was only one kind of beef but plenty of noodles. Would not order it again. The staff was friendly
Was first time inside with my family ordered Oh chicken was excellent, will be coming back for sure, u have good size menu 💗💗💗💗
I've been eating at South Pacific Bistro for the better part of 10 years now. It's family owned and operated. They serve a wide variety of Asian cuisine. Chinese, Vietnamese, and Thai just to name a few. I go for the spring rolls and 9 spice chicken. The food is always fresh and the portions are generous. All the food is fresh cooked and not out of a can. Great fried rice as well.
Oh! Don't forget the bubble tea! It's delicious and comes in about 15 flavors.
Plenty of parking in back!
I enjoy eating here from time to time. They have a different take on dishes... I wouldn't come here expecting what you would normally get at other Thai restaurants.Their Pad Thai for instance has more of a tomato base than a Tamarind base and some of their noodles are different. They have a seven spice meal that is really good.
Great food
Only place I go to anymore, try their sweet and sour pork, nine flavor chicken or their pad Kee Mao! Everything on their menu is great.
Stopped for lunch on my way home from portland and was extremely impressed with the food and the service. I'll stop by again next time too!
small bistro. hall staff was just one. she look so busy and confused menu. almost of southeast asian food were there. wonton was really good.
We have been coming to South Pacific Bistro for probably 20 years now. An amazing couple runs it, they are sweet, kind, hard-working and make the best food. They have been working to the bone nonstop since they open this place and have the best food around. The portions are generous to.
Remember that all of their food is made from scratch and might take a little bit longer to cook it if they are busy since it’s just usually the two of them there or maybe three people.
Be sure to leave a really big tip because they deserve it! Haven’t raised their prices in forever.
My family began eating at "the Bistro" when Huey & Melissa opened their doors & Jackie was an infant!
They are friends to everyone who comes through the door!
I prefer the Hot & Sour Soup no matter my meal preference.
Huey is Vietnamese & Melissa is Chinese, so you get authentic food choices.
Good soup
I adore this restaurant! The owners are absolutely wonderful. The food is always absolutely top-notch, and it’s incredibly affordable. I absolutely recommend it. 10/10 across the board!
Kind of a hidden gem:)
Generous servings. Prompt service. Vegetables were crisp and that is how I like them.
Wonderful Asian food: Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai. Operated by a delightful Asian couple. Prices are reasonable.
Great place for food, has Boba tea / bubble tea!!
Tasty homemade food.
Excellent quality,, traditional cooking with knowledgeable staff who know and understand fusion of Asian specialties.
Everything is always fresh They go out of their way to make a pleasant atmosphere
Always enjoy lunch here
My favorite restaurant in town. Friendly atmosphere. They know what I am going to order.
Phenomenal food. Some of the most flavourful Asian cuisine I've had anywhere in the country.
Fans of Tom Kha soup, go here!
It wuz convenient cuz it wuz close 2where we were.....
It was okay
Excellent food and the owners are very nice.
Amazing food! Best curry I've had. The egg flower soup is the best ever.
Good food at a fair price, staff is very friendly.
Really good tofu!
Came late; the owner was eating. We were not disappointed. The food is really good!
Great food. Kind owners.
When the only thing you can find to pick on a restaurant about is the parking situation, you can safely say it's a good place to eat! Shanghai Noodles with chicken, BBQ pork, and shrimp was delicious! My wife reports that the Snow Pea Chicken was quite tasty as well. They also have a great selection of different flavors of bubble tea. We tried both cantaloupe and honey dew, and they were a great compliment to our meals.
As always, great almond chicken! Great portion sizes and consistent food. Yum.
Friendly staff. I ordered chicken pad thai and the flavors are way off. It’s not bad just not right. Noodles are over cooked as well.
The place for asian foods try it you won't go anywhere else been coming here since they opened its doors, a mom and pops family restaurant Vietnamese/ Chinese type
they will twik the spice level for you if you need it HOTer , wonderful people
I actually ordered this via Doordash, and I was pleasantly surprised by how flavorful, consistent, and and authentic the food was. The flavors of each ingredient are tremendous together, and everything was absolutely perfect right down to the fortune cookie (which I don't normally eat, but glad I did this time). So so good, and definitely worth going back to try more. I always say that you judge a restaurant by their egg foo young, so I'm hoping it will be as good as my food was today!
My partner and I picked up dinner here in September, the food was delicious but even the five star wasn't very spicy. The staff were friendly, the restaurant cute and tidy. I'll definitely be back.
Just the best. We love this place. Good price, great food , lunch menu fantastic. Nice people. Try the sizzling seafood platter for dinner
Never answer the phones... Absolutely redicudolous...
Love this small restaurant it’s really really good and they serve authentic Chinese Mandarin food. My husband and I enjoyed it.
Amazing food great prices and loved how friendly the staff was!! We will definitely be back!!
Good food & great service as always!
Great variety of choices to choose from. Friendly service. The lunch special is a great deal, they give you a lot, yummy leftovers for later😄
We have been going there for over 18 years. Huey and Melissa are AMAZING. YOU MUST Try 9 flavor beef. It's the best. Its all I get, my husband's tried most of the menu and likes almost everything but always goes back to 9 flavor beef.
Great food.
Pretty amazing food. Lots of gluten free options. It was was nice to have Singapore Noodles again for the first time in 6 years. If you are local just ask the nice lady to mark the gluten free options on a take out menu.
Very family oriented nice people food is yummy
This is one of those "conditional" reviews... In Portland 3*. In NYC China Town 2*. But in its location 4*. 👍
We tried the beef and chicken satay, potstickers, hot and sour soup, Thai curry (chicken), and the Pad Thai. Neither of the satay were done in a way we’ve had them before, the beef had excellent flavor and texture, the chicken was ok but not especially flavorful. The potstickers were very bland and undercooked, a little raw doughy. The hot and sour soup was sickeningly sweet, no spice/heat, inedible. Thai curry was odd but tasted ok. Pad Thai was made with a really wide, doughy noodle, hardly any vegetables and was overcooked into a lumpy mass. Overall it tasted and looked as if it had been hastily prepared quite a while before it was served. Really disappointing meal for $52.00 for two.
Very good food
I just moved into town and have been trying places around. This is one of the worst asian restaurants I've ever been to. The fried rice was so awful, I feel like I would have to throw it in my wok at home to fix it.

I. Love. It. Very. Much
Great food
Just as good as they've always been! I used to take my teenage grandson here when he was a baby, then we moved away. I went back for the first time in over ten years and was so happy to know that they haven't changed a bit! The food was great, I had my old "usual" of egg foo young and, as always, half and half egg flower and hot and sour soup. I showed the owner pictures of my grandson as a baby and she remembered us, and even some details about us that I hadn't mentioned today. Wonderful people! Definitely check them out if you're in the area. Great people, wonderful food, clean business. It's a small place but uses great social distancing measures and they and their customers all wore face masks. They also have a drive-through window.
First thing I noticed was a very odd smell when you walk in. My boyfriend and I have eaten here a couple of times and both times we have been sick afterwards.
Excellent food.
The food is good and people are friendly
Excellent and delicious. It was my first time eating there and I will come back.
