Casual Thai restaurant offering a diverse array of curries & stir-fries amid traditional decor.
It was my first time eating Thai. It was very enjoyable coming here. I realized once I ate there that this is a very good place for a man to take a woman on a date. Take her. Sit there and enjoy your food together. The food is unbelievable. Mouth water even. Make sure she eats every bite. It is quite exquisite.
A MUST TRY!!! The food was packaged nicely (no spillage) and tasted even better once we got to our hotel to eat it! DELICIOUS 😋 They even have great portion sizes for sharing as well, so expect to have leftovers for lunch or dinner. Also, the ambiance was so inviting, and we loved seeing the cultural arts displayed! 😊 We will definitely be back when visiting again!
Delicious food and beautiful restaurant
First time here after driving past this gem for years. Did not disappoint! Delightful atmosphere, and at 7:30 on a Saturday, wasn't too busy. Food was amazing. I will definitely be back, and want to sample everything on the menu. Ordered an appetizer when we gave the drink orders, and the waiter forgot to put the app order in. Once our entries were delivered, I asked about it, and he apologized, and immediately put the order in. They came out minutes later. Amazing crab rangoons!
Picture here is the Kai Rung Nauk, or chicken in a birds nest. Huge portions on every dish, we took half finished meals home. WILL be back. Also, bathroom was very clean.
We were a party of 13 and everyone's food was sensational. The service was perfect and friendly. Best Thai food in the Burg
I made my order to go. A waitress didn’t say anything to me, not even one word like “hello” or “thank you” when she handed my order over to me. Her face was totally BLUNT. What a horrible customer service. I was so regretting that I paid in advance online because I put some tips. I will never go back there.
Food is quite tasty and they do not overcook their noodles or rice, which we are thankful for. We come here whenever we are in Williamsburg.
Good food, good ambience
I ordered takeaway while visiting Williamsburg, a Thai hot drunken noodles and Thai hot green curry. Both dishes were prepared mild, noodles felt rubbery and green curry was mostly just coconut milk.
The food was ok. Have had better Thai cuisine. Overuse of too many yellow onions.
Awesome food, great service and excellent prices. A new favorite for us. All the great flavors that Thailand is famous for. Good drinks too. We will be back 😁
My recent visit to Bangkok Garden in Williamsburg was a mixed experience, marked by beautiful ambiance but disappointing customer service. Upon entering, we were welcomed into a lovely restaurant and seated immediately, setting the stage for a promising evening. I ordered the Pad Thai and Massaman Curry with vegetables and tofu, while my friend chose the Crab Rangoon and Chicken Massaman Curry.
The food arrived quickly, but sadly, my friend was let down by her Crab Rangoon, which lacked any actual crab and was mostly filled with cream cheese. The real turning point, however, came with my Pad Thai. Upon tasting it, I found the flavor and smell off-putting (veggies tasted spoiled) and alerted our server (Eddie). Instead of addressing my concern professionally, he asked, “Have you ever had Pad Thai before?” in a condescending manner, even after I explained that I had enjoyed it many times before. As I tried to discuss having the dish removed from my bill, he walked away while I was still speaking and expressed frustration in his native language before even reaching the kitchen.
Throughout the night, his attitude did not improve. He would often walk away while we were requesting further items, giving us side-eye and visibly irritated when my friend asked for a takeout box for her rice, which he begrudgingly brought back and dropped onto the table.
Overall, I was greatly disappointed by the customer service at Bangkok Garden, particularly when I noticed the stark contrast in how he treated other customers. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant; if you're looking for authentic Thai food with attentive service, I advise seeking out other options.
portion size was very nice. quality of are meal was A+ .....best in williamsburg. Here again you must try the wonton chicken soup. Anther outstanding meal with quality service. Just had lunch 10-28-24. If you are looking for the real thing. this is a must for the lover of Thai food.
My fiance and I always love going to this place. This time around we had a bit of trouble figuring out who our server was as two different server kept frequenting our table and assisting. It also seemed like the prices have gone up significantly for their meals. Nonetheless, it is always enjoyable.
Service was quick and our server was friendly. Prices were really good. My only complaint is the food was just so-so. Not as good as other Thai places I've been to but with the prices being very reasonable I think it's a good spot to eat at if you're craving Thai.
Food and service great.
Greatpeople great food
Very good Thai food and taste was good like original Thai food. Big portion and the service was fast and great
The pad thai had a nice balance of sweet, salty, and savory flavors. The noodles had a good texture, and there was plenty of shrimp and egg. The pineapple fried rice was a bit of a surprise – it had just the right amount of sweetness from the pineapple, and the fried rice itself was really flavorful. Would recommend after a day at Busch Gardens.
The place it’s self was absolutely gorgeous but the service was extremely slow, the food wasn’t all that for its price especially, while eating I had no more drink and was waiting for a refill but our waiter never came to check on us and I was stuck sipping on my other half’s drink. I only when i waved another waiter down did my waitress come and at that point we wanted to leave. There were people leaving because of slow services. Not friendly staffing no smiles, no greetings, no help really. First and last time I will come here.
Always delicious
American-Asian fusion. Food was great. Atmosphere was great. The Thai tea was enormous. They were a bit busy so we felt the service was rushed.
First time, delicious food and service was excellent 👌🏾.
Had an okay experience. Green curry is on the sweeter side, the steamed vegetables in it were steamed and added in. Veggie spring rolls were also not fresh. Food just didn’t taste that fresh.
We’ve been here multiple times and tried a few different options. The crab wontons were overpriced in our opinion but the chicken pineapple fried rice is delicious and the chicken pumpkin curry is SO SO good. You definitely want to make sure you try them both. I wish there was a special that included soup and your meal. Overall it seems we keep returning for our favs.
The food was excellent. The service was great.
Atmosphere was a bit dark with the outdated wood accents everywhere which personally i hate when going in restaurants. The thai food was a bit mid for the price. I was shocked i was paying almost 20 a plate for fast food take out quality? It wasnt horrible just overpriced, waitress wasn't very personable she just didn't interact at all.
Great tasting and the prices are reasonable.
I love this restaurant!
So delicious!
Closest thing to my Thai MIL's cooking. Always great. อาหารอร่อยมาก
This is always one of our stops when we visit Williamsburg. Great food and service.
mango curry and mssamsn curry are great, go here if youre hungry
Best Thai food in town in great clean athmosphere and great prize ( Free appertizer) Love it
Walked in waiting to be seated only to be looked at 5 times by staff and never spoke to us. Once they finally finished their conversation long enough to acknowledge we were there we were told we had to wait another 5 minutes. At this point to be ignored then told with an attitude there will be another wait was enough, unfortunately didn't matter that the place smelled great when the FoH staff is that bad.
From food to drinks , all were just not acceptable. Waist of time and money
Love the pineapple fried rice. 😋
The server annoyed me. Foods good, but prepare to be actively ignored.
Great place for Mother's Day lunch!
Food was great!
I love the aesthetics of the building, the food is great, and my only complaint is how the bathroom door opens and closes. 5-stars AMAZING
We were craving Thai got a little of everything and it was all good! I wish we took a few photos of our spread but we had the Fantasy Rice, Alring Rolls, Papaya Salad, Beef Pad Kee Mao the Red Coconut and Vegetable Curry!
Incredible food will be going back
Really nice interior. Service was good.
Food was okay. The flavors here were nothing to call home about. Pad See Ew Beef and Pad Kapow Chicken have become my go-to dishes for comparing Thai restaurants and I have certainly had better of both dishes. I like that they used medium-width noodles here. Not a fan of the wide noodle. The flavors, however, simply were not that remarkable or complex. Pretty standard Thai fare. A high level of heat is also something I really look for in Thai food. The heat levels here seem foreboding since they max out at Thai Hot and then Crazy Hot. I ordered my Pad See Ew - Crazy Hot. It was far from Crazy Hot. More like a medium hot at best.
Lunch with work colleagues here a few weeks ago, and the lunch portions are surprisingly hearty, the food is delicious, and the service was friendly and informative (and also made sure we got our relatively small group’s order in to the kitchen before a much larger group on the other side of the restaurant, which is very much appreciated; especially in a time-limited situation like a work lunch!)
I had the pad kee mao, a favorite of mine, and the fresh vegetables and spicy flavor was on point. I was also surprisingly delighted by the dressing on the small side salad that comes with lunch, tangy and gingery. Friends’ meals were also very well received.
It was delicious! We are on vacation and ate out at several restaurants and this was by far the best! Service was quick and great! Drinks were really good! Food was amazing!
Curry and mango sticky rice were so yummy ☻
Nothing bad to say but I wasn’t overly impressed. It wasn’t busy on a Saturday evening and although server was pleasant, they weren’t very attentive to our party of 6. Again, nothing bad but most likely won’t be going back. We all have different tastes so best to try for yourself and not depend on one review as your tastes may be different.
Best Thai food in the Burg!
Amongst the best Thai restaurants in town. Food is very good and plentiful with friendly service. I really enjoy their Pad Thai.
The food was delicious as always. Service was excellent, atmosphere was lovely, presentation of the food was very attractive. Server was very willing to offer suggestions and then made additions to my pineapple jasmine rice. I literally ate dinner and had enough left over for two more meals. As much as I would like to try different dishes, I always end up ordering the same thing. This restaurant is so consistent with the quality of food and service. They never disappoint.
Food was very good. Very much authentic taste. We ordered coconut soup, pad kee Mao ( noodles), panang curry - all three items were very good. I would definitely recommend it. But for noodles dont forget to tell your spice level. We also ordered fried Tofu and spring rolls. They were good too. Dessert was coconut custard- less quantity and less sweet. Mango sticky rice was good. They should pay attention to cleanliness under the tables too.
This review encompasses several dining experiences at Bangkok Garden. Overall, the food is excellent, and the portions are large providing a great overall value. I highly recommend the pad Thai, pad kee mao, and chicken with broccoli. The ice teas are great and usually served in oversized glasses. The one potential negative can be regarding the service time. This restaurant is understaffed, which contributes to sometimes significant wait times. If it’s at all busy, expect to wait as they usually only have 1-2 servers on the floor for the entire restaurant. However, on the positive I have found the servers to do the best they can with the limited personnel resources.
Will continue to keep coming back, and hope they hire an additional server.
Love the thai tea
Good was big and very delicious. Highly recommend it. I tried the pumpink Panang curry, we also ordered the pad Thai. All delicious.
Wonderful experience to share with friends. The food was prepared fresh and delicious!!!!
A delightful Thai culinary experience at Bangkok Garden, Williamsburg.
We were greeted by a warm ambiance and the inviting aromas.
The staff served us a delicious dinner: Pinapple Fried Rice (we asked to make it spicy) and Yum Chicken; loved both.
The dishes come with ample portions, ideal for sharing or for those with a hearty appetite.
Good food and large portions. Interior could use some updating, but it's not bad.
The food is amazing and great prices!
BEWARE that some bowls of soup can be $16.95 even though a few others sre $6.50 to $7. The food tasted great. The waitress was very cordial and tried to explain why one bowl is $16 and another $6.50. We hurried when I was picking a bowl and didn't have time to read the list. I tried to get a break, because it was my first time in there. It didn't happen. I spent $38 for a bowl of soup and spring rolls.
I have been back since, because they have very delicious Tom Kha and Pad Tai Woon Sen.
very friendly staff, food comes out fast and tasty, definitely coming back.
Not very good food. Ordered green Thai chicken curry which was too sweet and yet chilly. Quality of chicken was also not very good.
Good vegan dish
I am a frequent visitor to the Bangkok Garden restaurants in Norfolk and Virginia Beach so naturally when I was in Williamsburg it was an easy decision to eat at Bangkok Garden. I was greatly disappointed at the service especially the way I was treated with my family of 3 at this Williamsburg Bangkok Garden. From the moment we walked into the door the lady w/ blondish tints to her hair was unwelcoming. The other lady who may have been the host was pleasant and she said someone would be with us. When the blondish tint hair lady came she grabbed menus and started walking around the corner. She didn’t communicate with us to follow her. But then she titled her head back from around the corner looking at us and so I asked are we supposed to follow you and
She said ummhumm. So I assumed that was yes. So we hustle to follow her because she disappeared around the corner and we saw her clearing a table so we walked up to her and she said no, menus over there as she pointed behind us. We looked behind us (because we past 2 tables to get to her) two tables back there were 3 menus placed on a table. So I was a bit turned off by this treatment. The final mistreatment was the cups that our drinks came in were not presentable to serve beverage in. They were dirty and very cracked at the top and even looked chewed up at the brim in a couple places. I looked around in the restaurant at the other two tables that had guests seated and eating and noticed their drink cups were clean, presentable and without cracks. I took pictures and went to the front to ask the waiter if she could give us the check for our drinks because we are leaving. She went and got the host lady (who was pleasant). Once the host took a look at our drinks, she told us we can just leave and not to worry about the drinks. I will not come back to this restaurant in Williamsburg but I’ll still continue to go to the other ones in Norfolk and Va Beach. Please see the attached photos of the brim of the dirty cups that our drinks were served to us in. (Also b/c I was very thirsty I did take a large sip without looking at the cup first so I was more disgusted afterwards).
The pineapple fried rice wasn't very sweet and it kinda disappointed me, but they did a good job with service and the restaurant is nice.
My Husband and I ordered two "Thai" entrees from Bangkok Gardens during our visit to Williamsburg. We pre-ordered for pickup, and when we arrived the lady at the register, barely communicated with us, shoved a pen and receipt to sign at us and looked like she just wanted us to hurry up and leave. We were surprised, especially since the restaurant was empty, and we were very friendly with her. To add insult, the menu prices online are not what we were charged, so apparently they do not update their prices. Our meals with an appetizer was nearly $50. We ordered "Thai" from the menu, but when we got to our hotel and started eating, we were disappointed to find it was a variation of Chinese food take out that one can get at any Chinese take out, however it tasted like the worse Chinese corner fast food you can imagine. Money wasted for sure! An overall disappointment and nothing you'd expect from a Thai menu.
Best food ever!
Food wasn't as good as it has been in the past. Service was mediocre. 😕
Always a great food experience here. The curries are rich and flavorful and there are lots of great drink options. I always love to get the duck, it is always very tasty. Can't go wrong with any of the Thai staples.
The food is good, especially the Pad Thai was very tasty! The Service was just okay.
My go to Thai restaurant when I’m in the area for business, have to eat there, everything on the menu is great
Food and service was great.
Our faborite place to eat Thai in Williamsburg. We get takeout here almost once weekly. Great Thai!
Great food and wonderful service.
Lunch at Bangkok Garden today with my brother. Ordered papaya salad, green curry with tofu and vegetables, and Bangkok Jungle. Seated without a wait, fast and pleasant service, great food. Love the flavors and spice levels, especially the Bangkok Jungle. This is a favorite of mine when in Williamsburg.
UPDATE: returned today Sunday 30 July 23 for lunch. Consistently delicious. Great service and great experience.
My family and I enjoyed Bangkok Garden very much. It is warmly decorated, service was good, and the food was excellent! My family tried a little bit of everything: spring rolls, soup, combo fried rice, roasted duck, curry, orange chicken, and squid — all of it was delicious. We will definitely return!
Great tasting food and reasonable prices.
The food was delicious, the portions were sizeable, and the service was attentive.
Spicy!!! 🌶️ 🥵 💀 Yummy. Will be back for more.
Wonderful place for family and friends. Great food, wide variety and tastes wonderful
The food is delicious, and I think it is one of the best Thai restaurants in Williamsburg, VA. I have tried several dishes and they all were good! The service is very pleasant. Give it a try and enjoy!
We ordered Pad Thai and Pad See Iw.
First - Pad See Iw was ok to good! Service by Eddy was very good during a busy time!!!
Second - We generally order Pad Thai at any Thai restaurant we're visiting first time (generally in a new area) because it's generally standard across Thai restaurants.
It wasn't good....we took a spoon worth on to a separate plate and left the rest. I got up to speak to our server in private and did because there was a big group beside us and I didn't want to say anything in front of them.
I asked if I could just pay for the Pad See Iw but they said they would have to charge me for both and I could instead order something else for the same charge as the Pad Thai. We ordered another Pad See Iw.
It wasn't ideal since we had to wait another 15 mins and had to share the first entree and they didn't take it off the bill so based on the experience - 2 stars.
Edit - our daughter fell very sick in the middle of the night after eating here.... Avoid!!!
The staff is not friendly. She ordered us to sit and wait for fifteen minutes when we entered the store. The vegetables served with the meal are not authentic.
This is an amazing gem on Richmond Rd. The food was amazing and authentic and the service impeccable.
Alway good and not much of a wait after Saturday night church (7pm) unless something is going on at William and Mary.
Phenomenal curry! Delicious vegetarian options! Literally some of the best Thai food I've ever had.
Important Details
GOOD - Nearly everything, fresh, exotic dishes, good service, and lovely atmosphere in and out
BAD - not much, a little pricey, but supported by quality
I typically find one or two things that a restaurant can work on, it was hard with Bangkok Garden. My experience was excellent. From the beautiful flowers before you walk in, to the decor and finally, flavorful dishes, I highly recommend this Thai gem.
I had the chicken spring rolls, chicken coconut soup, and a combination meat, yellow curry dish. All were fabulous and flavorful. Prices were a little high, especially for lunch, but worth the treat. I got two more meals from the leftovers. Defintely try it.
Ordered the crab fried rice, wonton soup and steamed spring rolls.
The chicken in the steamed spring rolls was dry. It was added to the wonton soup as well, for whatever reason I don't know. Dry, Dry, D R Y. The crab in the rice was either cooked from frozen or just OLD; it was dry as well.
The appetizers (fried spring rolls and Gyow grob) were delicious.
For $77 - overpriced...no thanks for a small hit and a big miss.
Great food portions and delicious fried rice! Thai tea was creamy and house made.
Today my family decided to try out Bangkok. One of the waitress greeted us and sat us down. Another waitress came along after ten minutes and asked us if anyone had taken our drink order which they hadn't. The waitress took our drink order while we noticed that the same lady that sat us down was escorting another patron ro their table. Mind you once she sat the lady down we noticed the urgency in her taking her order right away as well as bringing her food out in like five minutes. We finally got our drinks after about fifteen minutes. We noticed some additional patrons came in as well and they were quickly seated and their drink orders were taken right away as well and the patrons also received their food but they received their food at the same time as ours even though they arrived after we did. My family and I would like too say nothing was cool about the service and no effort was put into the food at all.
Stir fry was excellent!!! One of the few Thai places that means hot when they say hot.
Very Expensive these days.
Great Thai food!
Great meal! Excellent waitress!
My husband and I ordered take-out from Bangkok Garden, tonight. The chicken spring rolls were delicious! The pork wontons were scrumptious! The sweet and sour chicken was good but far too watery for our tastes! All of our food was well packaged for travel. Our food was still piping hot, when we opened the to-go containers at our resort. We will try more dishes at Bangkok Garden!
Just wasn’t it. The Drunken Noodle was dry, Tom Kha was “ehh”, and the calamari looked like something I’ve never seen. Had it back in 2020 and feel like it was better than this visit hence we went back. Unfortunately can’t say I’ll return. 😔
Staff was pleasant. The food was timely served. The portions are very generous and the flavors were spot on.
Excellent food and drinks!
Everything I try on the menu is better then the last. Will definitely keep coming back. The bartender is great too.
Nice time and delicious food.
Excellent food. I will recommend it.
Great food and a decent price.
I can't visit Williamsburg without getting the vegetable green curry from Bangkok Garden.
It's been my favorite food many years now.
All option from stir fry are delicious. Verities options for vegetarians.
Beautiful art work and statues. The food was disappointing given how beautifully the place was decorated. The waitress was so quick we couldn't ask for additional food items or drinks. It was like sitting in a fast food drive in. Disappointing
The coconut soup here is the best in Williamsburg
Delicious Thai food. Generous portions. Vegetarian options.
Another great place! Food is great.
Amazing 🤤
Food was really good and the portion sizes do not disappoint. Quick service. Would come back again
Amazing food
Our favorite Thai restaurant in Williamsburg, always top quality and great service. They are also fast
Authentic Thai food, every dish I’ve ordered has been comparable to what I’ve gotten in Bangkok! Highly recommend.
Average thai food
We were seated and waited 10 minutes for any service. The young lady finally came over to take drink orders along with food. 15 minutes later still no drinks. Other customers were waiting for their checks and some standing at door to be seated . If you don’t have enough staff then close. I have eaten here before a couple of years ago and was pleased with everything. Service has completely gone down hill! We eventually got up and walked out with nothing!
Decidedly average Fare. Ordered green curry, red curry, fried rice with beef. Food did not have the kind of flavor I have had at other Thai restaurants. Quantities are large. Would not go again.
The food at this place is always so delicious. By far the best fried rice I’ve ever had.
Good service, good food, fair price... Our family enjoyed the meal.
Amazing place to eat! I loved it
Lecker
Food was good...reasonably priced
The largest Thai iced tea I've ever seen! (and delicious to boot) Service was a bit hands off but food was very tasty.
