Thai, Chinese & Japanese dishes, including sushi, served in modern, bamboo-accented surrounds.
Had an excellent late lunch today! Whenever I try a new Thai place, I always try their Chicken Satay & Tom Yum soup. They blew me away!! The satay came with the best peanut sauce I’ve ever had at a Thai place! The service was speedy and wonderful. Will definitely be returning :)
This has always been a good place to eat in Roanoke. Service at times can be a little thin, however the individuals they do have serving or waiting is always friendly and prompt. They serve a wide variety of food for just about anyone.
Prices on the food are a little high, mostly the entrees. Probably just a little too high for the portions that you receive.
Location is great plenty of parking, easy access. Interior does seem to be showing its age but nothing too crazy.
We have been here three different occasions and consistently this gem of a restaurant has exceeded our expectations for quality, customer service, atmosphere, cleanliness and cost. They have such a wide selection of traditional and Americanized entrees. Only thing missing is traditional handmade dim sum. One can dream right?
I just left their and had sweet an sour chicken. I've had this there before and was good. Tonight it was horrible. I even tried to get the waiter attention to let her know. It was hard to get there attention. The sweet and sour sauce was super bland and the chicken was hard as a brick I even showed her by hitting it on the table. She looks and said oh my. Took my plate back and just gave me my ticket. The people in the back said it was the batter and that's how it is. NO ITS NOT. I even ask if they could at least take off half she said NO sorry. I paid $50 for some nasty food. Never again will I support this business. They could care less.
I've never had a bad experience with/at Taste of Asia - I actually wish I could eat here more often to more fully explore their very extensive menu, which is broken down into three sections: Thai, Japanese, and Chinese. So far my experiences here have stemmed mainly from the Thai menu, with an occasional starter or add-on from the Japanese section. Tonight (01-14-21) was no different, as we started with the edamame, and then my date moved onto a small dish Thai tofu vegetable soup, and a vegetable roll from the sushi menu. I went with the N10, a Thai beef & noodle soup akin to Pho, but with a beef broth instead of a bone broth - it's a formidable bowl of soup. I look forward to many more visits to Taste of Asia.
Good portions and tasty (albeit large and hard to read) menu. Reasonably priced. Always enjoy their Thai fair, but sushi hits the spot as well.. Great selection of sake and Japanese beers for town. The male waiter with glasses was so nice! Would recommend. Lots of door dash and take out while there, so obviously popular.
Good specialty rolls.
Great Thai fried rice and pnang curry! Gluten free soy used!
Excellent tasting food and fresh sushi! Lovely experience!
Mongolian beef. With onions and spring onions. Wonderful sauce and rice.
This was a very good experience. The atmosphere was grand. The food was good as well. We will definitely be coming back!

Great place with multiple Asia cuisines.
The restaurant was clean. The server and staff were super nice.
There is something Strange with the food I'd ordered. It had an odd smell and flavor. I eat a lot of asian food. The Thai tea and fried rice was good. The appetizer was good.
The issue was with the sushi. Something was off and wrong with the meat. The staff was wonderful and didn't charge us for the food we didn't eat and returned.
Although it was a concerning experience.
A great restaurant and this ranks in our top two in the Roanoke area (truth be told it's a tie). So with that being said if you're looking for sushi or Thai this would be a good place to go!
We love their Thai menu.

I had the Mongolian beef and my wife had the sweet and sour chicken. My wife said that her dish tasted so,so but my Mongolian beef was way too sweet and it didn't come with the white rice or green onions or the other ingredients that I was used to. The rice was dirty rice and smelled like dirty laundry. The bill was $51.00 and that's for the meals and sweet tea. I'm 56 years old and I know what good Chinese food tastes like and this isn't it. You can try it out yourself but that was enough for me.
We ordered two orders of California roll, 1 rainbow roll and 1 chicken teriyaki with fried rice to go. The sushi rolls were nice, but the teriyaki I need to say that Panda Express is way better and they gave us steamed rice instead of fried rice. Pretty disappointed with the food. The service was nice, friendly. I don’t think I’ll come back.
Have dined in and ordered takeout numerous times from here and enjoyed our food immensely. Was looking forward to our takeout meal tonight.
My husband had Ginger Perfect Beef Hot and said it was good but the beef tasted old. I ordered Broccoli Beef and my meal was inedible. My white rice came out of the container onto my plate in one big clump and was stone cold. I heated it in the microwave and then poured my entree over the rice. The broccoli was old, chewy, and tasteless. I love any kind of beef but I could not eat what was in this meal. It almost tasted like it had been coated in flour. I left most of it on my plate.
Paying what we did for mediocre meals was a real problem. Your quality of food has certainly changed and not for the better. I'm not sure we will order again. I would offer a picture of my dinner plate after I finished eating but there is no place to add it. How sad.
Get the Evelyn roll. The best EVER!!!
Awesome sashimi and 🍣
Never had a bad experience here. Best sushi I've had in the Roanoke area, with TOA Roll, Sunset on the Prairie Roll, and Caterpillar Roll being the go-to choices; Star City Roll is great if you prefer your fish cooked. Thai curry is great as well and highly recommend the Thai Tiger if you want a cocktail. All around, great restaurant
All your favorites in one spot. Fresh and delicious food.
Very fresh food. Loved it
Food was good, wasn't great but worth going
I did not care for this restaurant
Great staff and amazing food!
The worst crab Rangoon I’ve ever had - It was gummy and just inedible. My sushi roll was also falling apart, mostly because they overcooked the rice to a mush. I don’t know why I expected this would be decent sushi.
look at the pic.. i asked for less rice, i got extra rice
Had octopus, dragon roll and duck on Saturday before mother's day .wish I could order the same dishes every day .thankyou
My first takeout meals here. My tofu penang dinner was delicious, as were the dumplings for a lite lunch.
The food was okay. While we were there a rowdy customer was yelling at the employees. Not their fault but it was definitely an odd experience overall. The waitress was super kind and attentive.
I had the WORST food of my life here. From reading the reviews I was expecting great things but it was truly a horrible experience. It was also very expensive. I ordered the chicken and broccoli, the hot and sour soup, salmon sashimi, none of it was edible. I was really disappointed as I was hoping this would be a good place.
It's ok
Taste of Asia is the bomb. Everything from the chicken to the noodles to the sushi is absolutely spot on. The people are great, my last visit my server suggested we take a photo together....every customer is a member of their restaurant family. They want to know you personally. Best Asian food in Roanoke hands down...
Omg! So tasty! The food was extremely delicious and I’m vegetarian and I just asked for fried rice and veggies and they just did it for me. The portion is amazing I had lunch there, leftovers for dinner that night and even more leftovers for the next day. The place is really pretty inside and the staff is so welcoming. Highlyyyyyy recommend the place🩷 (oh also my friends had sushi and dumplings and they enjoyed it very much so 👌)
I was in from of this restaurant indeed to use the bathroom they told me no they needed to be closed down sad people how they in business
This is definitely our new favorite Asian spot in Roanoke. They have a lot of traditional entrees that some of the other Asian restaurants here seem to lack. Every Spring I am hit with allergies bad. The only thing that seems to remedy it is a traditional Chinese Wonton Mein Soup. I called 11 Asian restaurants Roanoke and surrounding and none of them had wonton noodle soup! This is the one restaurant that not only had it they improved it by using vermicelli noodles and adding shrimp broccoli carrots chicken breast etc. Oh my this is the best Noodle soup I have had since RVA! Thank you Taste of Asia! My sinuses are now in check and lungs are clear! Blessings to you!
We have been here three different occasions and consistently this gem of a restaurant has exceeded our expectations for quality, customer service, atmosphere, cleanliness and cost. They have such a wide selection of traditional and Americanized entrees. Only thing missing is traditional handmade dim sum. One can dream right?
I tried the "Drunken Noodles", with the Thai spicy added. Let me tell you, it was amazing. Flavor, spice, portion, price. You can't beat it. Wish I would have taken a photo to post. Thank you for a great meal!
Food and location are decent, the place is clean and staff is friendly.
Service tends to forget some small things like checking on for drinks and such.
I don't normally post any negative reviews, but my takeout earlier this week was not edible. The meat in the beef and vegetables was so tough we could barely chew it. And it should have read beef and broccoli. There were no other vegetables. Very poor quality. And my shrimp and veggie rolls were nothing but dried up iceberg lettuce and dry carrots. No shrimp in 3 out of the 6. Needless to say we didn't have dinner that night. Wasted money and food in the garbage.
After hiking the Appalachian Trail all day my best friend suggested that we get some sushi from the Taste Of Asia restaurant. It was by far the best I've ever had. The atmosphere was great, the staff were friendly and the adult beverages were ice cold. Also, the men's restroom was very clean considering how much it gets used. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great Asian cuisine. We will definitely be back.
Great food and very friendly staff!
Excellent.
Poorest service ever expected. Drink orders taken but forgotten, side dish arrived after main course was finished. Whole crispy fish satisfactory, side dish eggplant and shrimp, farm raised shrimp tasted like muddy water. Two separate customers on either side of us had to wait about 45 minutes for their order to be filled. Eaten here many times and this was our worst experience ever.
This place is awesome. Great food !. Was very surprised by the service !. Very friendly personnel. I highly recommend this establishment.
Entree was ok...not great; bland. There was nothing extra at all unless ordered separately. I feel the price was too high for what I received. Very clean establishment with tasteful music and good service. I don't need to go back.
Excellent food and staff who answered questions due to dietary restrictions and willingness to ask the cooks about certain foods and ingredients. Will recommend and return.
Food was great but I loved the service.
We’ve been coming to ToA for over a year and never had a bad meal. Some of the best, authentic food in the area. We love the music too! Service is great!
Love eating here! Food and atmosphere are top notch, staff always friendly! Food is amazing! Highly recommended!
Good sushi, and they have a lot of other items on the menu. However, seating is cramped and when they get busy, service definitely suffers.
Great portions, food, and service! We always buy an extra to bring home as another meal. I would highly recommend. It is absolutely delicious.
Went here countless times in 2014, I'm so glad it's still in business and I hope to return some day. To this day I talk about this place and the Evelyn roll. I have so much to say as to this day I think about it, it's been almost 10 years! Like ahhh what did this glorious place do to me? I have never been able to enjoy sushi the same since. I hope one day to be back.
Food was worst I have ever had. 5 pieces of chicken and a burned pile of white rice. I will never go here again. And I asked if soy and duck sauce in the bad. They said yes, got it to my office and no 😞. There were 3 small pieces of broccoli in the container with my 5 small pieces of chicken. I think the Styrofoam box might have had more flavor. And it cost $19.98 for the amount of disgusting and lack of flavor. The only flavor for the rice since they left out the soy and the sauce with the sesame chicken had no flavor to put over it was the taste of it being burned.
Recommend the Evelyn sushi plate it is amazing
The service and food is amazing! They have very good sushi. We have tried so many different dishes, it’s hard to choose our favorite. The owner Evelyn is there most of the time and greets us always with a smile. I really like the sushi chef Franklin too.
Online order. Finally ready 30 minutes after promised time.
Always impressed with their food, and they're hospitality recommended for anyone.
Great sushi and entrees! We enjoyed an anniversary dinner here recently. The gluten free pad Thai was great!
The best meal I have ever eaten. The Evelyn roll is incredible. Can't recommend Taste Of Asia enough
We ordered Pad Thai with shrimp and Linguini Chow Mein with chicken. Pad Thai came with 1TBS chopped peanuts 1/4 cup bean sprouts on top, 6 shrimp and mega noodles. Chow Mein with chicken came with about 6 pieces of thin chicken (1/4 cup), and 1/4 cup of vegetables (lol...2 pieces of broccoli), and lots of noodles. All for almost $60...sorry, but we won't eat there again!
Great food and great people!
Excellent food! We ate here on a Saturday afternoon. The service was excellent and to the food delicious. My wife had a couple of sushi dishes which she like very much. I had the massaman curry with beef, nice and spicy. We also took some take home Chinese dishes which were also tasty. We would recommend them for a great variety of delicious Asian food.
My family is Thai and food was not as authentic as they would like.
Expensive but delicious
A little expensive for what you get
Good restaurant with delicious dishes. Pleasantly varied menu, more than usually expected, and every national selection is good. Great service. Much better food than some more popular Roanoke area Asian restaurants.
The food never disappoints never ever have I ever had anything that was less than perfection
The food was tasty and great.
Pretty good sushi, considering it's a general Asian restaurant.
This restaurant is amazing! The hostess which turned out to be the owner was exciting to speak with. My experience here left me blown away. The food was very flavorful and left me sitting there in silence while I savored every bite. I had the shrimp pad Thai, calamari, and what ended up being the most amazing part of this meal was the Evelyn Roll. Every slice left me speechless and wanting more. If you are in the Ronoake VA area be sure to stop in.
I am vegetarian, really less choice for me
Food here is so so good! Love the atmosphere. Service can be hit or miss, always friendly, just sometimes long periods without being seen to. But we still come back, because it's so good!
Very rude and unprofessional place. My husband went to pick up an order and allowed other people to skip him to get their food and made him wait although he was there first. Never will order from this place again, poor customer service!
Excellent food and service!
Great variety. Great food.
Taste of Asia has been around for a while now and I've had varying experiences. The most recent trips I have made, however, have really impressed me! I have always enjoyed their Thai dishes and mostly order curries and noodle dishes. Highly recommend! The sushi is good, as are the appetizers! The staff recently has been very helpful and welcoming.
The challenge I have had with Taste of Asia is consistency. I never know how to order spiciness levels because I'd order medium one day and it would be the perfect amount of spice, then the next time it would be burning my mouth off. I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to spice so this may be relevant for me and may not matter so much to those craving spice! And portion sizes sometimes change from visit to visit. Recently, what I've had has been really delicious and pretty consistent! When they get it right, it is so right, though, and I keep coming back!
Food was so-so. Service was good. Poor atmosphere.
Absolutely best in Roanoke.
Outstanding service and quality of food!
Service was terrible. He took 2 appetizer orders then disappeared. Never asked if anyone else wanted an appetizer (they did). Even though he wrote orders down he had to come back to the table to double check what he wrote. Cooked food was served and rated by those who ordered it long before the sushi orders were ever brought to the table. Waiter could not figure out our bill even though we told him before we even ordered we were on separate checks. It took over an hour and 3-4 different people to get the bills figured out plus they initially charged a $0.74 split bill fee. We finally had to get up and get the manager/owner to help with the bill. Nothing was offered as a compensation for all the time we spent waiting for our meals and bill. Someone in our group actually asked if they were going to do something for all the trouble we had with our entire experience. I for one, could not believe they did not ti the food so we were all served at once. That’s poor service. I normally don’t write a review but the experience was terrible and the food was not worth all the trouble we experienced. I will be getting my sushi at Ben Gui or Cafe Asia 2-service is way better as is the food.
Not bad a bit over priced for what you get.
The food is always amazing here.
Best place in town. Great place to choose for date night!
Pretty nice place wit good food and sake!
Any of the curry choices are really good.
Went at 2pm, just as lunch menu changed to dinner, so was a little disappointed. Service was excellent and server gave her all, but rested her head on the bar when not engaged with us. Not many diners in at that time, so not at all busy. The menus were a little hard for me to read, as the different food styles had a different color background. The restaurant serves Thai, Japanese and Chinese styles, and has an extensive sushi selection. My dining mates both had the drunken noodles, one with tofu and one with chicken, and both declared their dishes flavorful and delicious, especially the noodles. I ordered the Cashew Nut with chicken. As the dish is named cashew, you'd think the nut would be plentiful..but I could only find about 5 pieces, with just a couple whole. The chicken was overcooked and somewhat tough, and the vegetables were not cooked enough to my liking. The atmosphere was pleasant, and welcoming.
The owner thanked us. The server was great. We are from Auburn NY. I would recommend and go there again when I am in N. Carolina visiting my family again soon. Thank you 😊
We don't get to go here often because it's a bit of a drive for us. But when we do, it's a special treat. The food is delicious and the staff are mostly friendly (there is one hostess who sometimes comes across as unfriendly, but she's actually very nice when you engage with her). It's also rarely packed, so you can usually walk in and be seated right away.
Good spicy food! Super friendly staff. Menu has a lot of options from Japanese, Thai and Chinese. Beers selection is not that wide.
Great place, great food, nice staff. Will go back again and again.
We ate dinner here and I doubt we’ll return soon. Some employees spoke limited English which made it difficult when trying to communicate with them. The atmosphere was mediocre and the menu was large but it giving choices for Asian food. Our dinner wasn’t bad but it was too expensive. I’ve had better food, nicer environment and more manageable prices.
Sooo good! Loved our meal 😋
Delicious.
Food was good and service was quick. They were able to accommodate a large group, quickly.
Such a wide variety of Japanese, Chinese and Thai cuisine that i had trouble deciding what to get! The sushi was phenomenal and my first curry experience was delicious as well. The atmosphere is very pleasing and the staff was beyond kind and helpful. Try it and find out for yourself.
Fourth of July super late lunch early dinner. Very attentive and helpful service. Good mix of Asian flavors. We had Japanese, Thai and Chinese dishes.
Sushi pieces are too big. If you try to eat the whole piece you will choke to death. Not worth the money
If 0 or less stars was available it would be less than 0. Inedible disgusting food. Waste of money.
The food is always excellent and the staff is super-friendly. They have a wide selection of entrees on the menu.
I came in late in the afternoon on a Saturday. Only a handful of people there. I walked in behind a guy picking up, 2 staff greet him and start having a conversation. I was walked by several times and no one said anything to me. Finally a lady sat me. Took forever for the kid to ask if I wanted something to drink, then went off and did other things before he returned with my drink. When I was ready to order, they again walked by me several times and again the lady had to take my order. Food was subpar, sushi roll fell apart and I had to use a fork. Iced tea tasted funny.
Fresh and tasty.. never disappoints..
Usually food here is really good. We picked up to go order and food was terrible this time. All the meat in the 4 treasures was overcooked and hard to chew. Sauce also had a terrible flavor and the lo mein noodles were really bland.
Hip jazz music, lighting that looks like it belongs in a sci-fi movie, car crashes playing on the TV, and a waiter who acts and speaks like he's been to finishing school. This place is too fun not to give it 5 stars. The jasmine tea comes piping hot and doesn't grow bitter with time like some. The wonton soup and chicken dumplings had melt in your mouth thin wrappers, a sign of true culinary skill. The Thai duck curry was a unique experience. True to Thai cooking it had a hint of fish sauce. The heat was very mild, hitting as warmth in the back of the throat. Small point of critcism, I wish the duck fat had been excluded. It was simple enough to eat around it though. To finish off lunch, I order a Thai iced tea. I was surprised to find that the tea itself was sweet and the cream component was...half n half? rather than unsweet tea with sweetened condensed milk. I can't decide which way I like better. It was good for sure. The food was tasty, but what I appreciate most is how they left me to quietly finish my tea at a leisurely pace. I'll be back.
I tried to have dinner here tonight. Very slow at seating us but I was like " ok they must be busy" a lady came from the back with food looked at us and didn't even smile nothing and kept walking on by, No be right with you nothing. Then she comes and grabs silverware and takes us to a table that's was not dirty but dishcloth streaky and some kind of residue.. Uuhh I didn't quite like that. We had a baby with us she brought a highchair but that was it , we waited but waitress never came back to even ask for drinks. We sat in the dark waiting. I had to use my phone to see the menu..we were all ready to order but eventually decided to to leave when no one in are party could get service. Heard the food was good but I don't know if I'll try it again, turned me off from yall.
Lovely and attentive staff. The food is sooooo good too. I really recommend this place, nothing beats it honestly.
Excellent food great servings.
Great spot for Thai food. Got take out and food was piping hot and serving was very generous. The folks there were friendly and they all made me feel my business was important. Food was great too!!
Straight up tastes horrible
The food was good but the portion sizes were sooo small.
Great food and service
The food is really great. But don't ever make the mistake of ordering soup here. Any kind of soup, doesn't matter. I might have tried 3 different kinds and all 3 were really bad
Great sushi decently priced cool atmosphere
Always a great place to eat. Great food and wonderful staff.
This restaurant has a wide variety of Thai, Japanese, and Chinese foods. The servings are quite large The service was very good and the atmosphere pleasant. The prices are moderate to expensive but well worth it.
Wait staff was super slow, didn't ask for drink refills, food was sub par and NOT worth the outrageous prices. Found a smaller, cheaper place and the food was just as good. I never leave bad reviews but jad to get the word out about this place.
We love this place and eat there almost every time we're in Roanoke. The food is delicious!
Great food
We ordered couple of items in which 2 items are worst 1. Chicken Spring rolls smelling like a used oil and worst taste. 2. Red curry I recommend people not to touch that...
Evelyn roll is the best..
Beautiful restaurant and always delicious. My favorite is the soft shell crab roll
The food was great and the service was super friendly
The place is nice and the food is done right and on time. Thank you.
Love the pepper beef
Everything is yummy, the owner is always nice, the sushi is fresh
Very good, little pricey, and my chicken in the dinner was a bit over cooked, but the flavor was on point
Food was excellent. Good portions
