The food was great , service was ok maybe because it was packed with a lot of people that day

Diner Review №3

The food is delicious. The menu has good variety and lots of flavors. The wait staff is friendly and prompt.

We visited to have brunch the day before Valentine’s Day. Since it wasn’t a particularly busy time, the food came out really quickly, which was a pleasant surprise. Every dish we’ve tried has always been delicious, and we especially loved the option to choose from five different spice levels, which was great for us since we enjoy spicy food. The eggplant dish we tried for the first time that day was also incredibly tasty. The service was friendly, the food quality was excellent, and the restaurant’s decor matched the occasion, making the experience even more visually delightful.

Diner Review №6

One of my favorite Thai spots of all times…excellent service and great food options

Diner Review №8

The Thai food is exceptionally delicious, with rich flavors and a strong spiciness. The atmosphere and ambiance are great, though the prices are a little bit pricey

Diner Review №9

Amy and Pete were helping us but they have a very bad attitude.....so I'll be simple....food was not good....fried shrimp was dripping oil, Pad Thai was dry and the Curry was not as good as I would expect ......I'd not step a foot inside this place again.....I love Asian food.....but never this place.......

Diner Review №10

This was our first time trying Thai food. It was AMAZING!!!!!!!!

Diner Review №11

Fancy Thai food place with cocktails bar and outdoors seating. Very nice to wind down your days here with food and drinks.

Diner Review №12

The decor in this place is amazing.
I had the cry baby noodles and my wife had the pineapple fried rice.
The cry baby noodles and pineapple fried rice were both good, but not great. The cook should grill the shrimp. It tasted like they were boiled and a little fishy. Overall, good experience but too expensive for me.

Diner Review №13

Whereas we love this recently opened eatery, our order today of Thai fried rice was a letdown. The rice was full of "fillers" which is understandable, but had no shrooms or bamboo shoots. I don't think cauliflower and cherry tomatoes qualify as "Thai".

Diner Review №15

Overall well kept and well run with good food (and a bit expensive as a result) provided you're in the mood for coconut or peanut flavors of Thai food. I had the Panang curry (coconut milk base) with pork (+tax+20%=~$25) Best to come with friends or family because they have a number of nice nooks for small groups. Also their birthday celebration is quite the spectacle and bound to embarrass the recipient, so be sure to bring the birthday person here without warning them!

Today was my second time ordering take out here and the service is amazing!!!! I ordered at the wrong location (be careful they have other locations) and the lady and guy at front so friendly helpfully. Was a freezing night and he walked out to mu car to hand to me. And did i mention also food is delicious! Definitely my new spot!

Diner Review №18

The food was okay. I had better Thai food experience elsewhere. Space between tables was too close that I had to be extra careful not to hit other table while going in and out of seating. I don't think I will come back or recommend this place to someone loves Thai food.

We eaten here a handful of times and have loved it! Happy hour cocktails are delicious.

Diner Review №21

I have not really liked thai food since I went to thailand.... I even went BACK to thailand and still didn't love the food. I know.... there is something wrong with me.

Sense of Thai has really changed that and I am dreaming of pad thai again!!! The vibes in here are SO fun. It is not cheap but SR needs a little bit of a nicer place to eat and I love this spot.

I recently visited Sense of Thai in South Riding, and I can’t stop raving about it! As someone who loves exploring new flavors, this restaurant truly impressed me. The food was absolutely delicious—every dish we tried was packed with authentic Thai flavors. The curries were rich and aromatic, the pad Thai was perfectly balanced, and the appetizers were fresh and flavorful. It’s clear that the chefs put a lot of care into their craft.

The service was another highlight of the evening. Our server was incredibly attentive and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed. They even took the time to explain some of the dishes and offer recommendations, which was really helpful since the menu had so many tempting options.

The ambience of the restaurant was also a big plus. It felt cozy and welcoming, with a relaxed vibe that made it easy to enjoy our meal. It’s definitely a family-friendly spot, and I could see it being great for a casual dinner or even a special occasion.

Overall, Sense of Thai exceeded my expectations. The combination of fantastic food, excellent service, and a warm atmosphere made it a memorable dining experience. I’ll definitely be back to try more dishes—and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for great Thai food in the area!

My wife ordered take out for my daughter and specified no-nuts, due to allergies. When I went to pick it up, I asked the hostess at the front for my order and asked to confirm that their were no nuts. She didn't say anything and turned around and picked up the food and printed out my bill. I asked her again as she presented me the bill, "can you confirm that there are no nuts". She replied, "why don't you open it and see". In a rude tone. I was taken aback, I responded "I'm sorry, you want me to open the container and check myself? I need to know because my daughter has allergies", she then said "I didn't cook it so I don't know". At this point I was upset at the responses I was receiving. I told her "is it normal for a restaurant to respond by saying, open and check your take-out yourself"? She again repeated, "I didn't cook it so I don't know", again in a rude tone. At this point I replied "okay, let me talk to the chef and confirm with him"...by then a manager walking by intervened and apologized and offered me something on the house and that was insult to injury. Sorry but you should consider putting friendlier people at the front desk.

Best Thai food in Nova!

Diner Review №27

Good experience. Went for the first time.

Diner Review №28

Wow delicious entree.

Diner Review №29

Seems like you’re paying for the atmosphere not the food. I think the actual food is better at virtually every other Thai place around. The atmosphere is great and is a good date spot.

Diner Review №30

Thai is my favorite, and this place did not disappoint. Everything we ordered was full of flavor.

Diner Review №31

Came for dinner and loved the cozy atmosphere and Christmas decor. The Tom Kha Gai soup, crab rangoons, and angry shrimp were my favorites. The chicken satay and curry puffs were also good. Finished with the Thai tea crème brûlée, which was a nice treat. Great experience!

Diner Review №32

Stopped in for the first time for lunch. The menu has a plethora of selections of food items. The food was delicious. Service & atmosphere on point. Will be back to try more menu items & the desserts.

Diner Review №33

Amazing food!! The service was exceptional and fast!! Had 3 different (even the chef) come to check on us!!

Atmosphere was gorgeous & beautifully decorated for the holidays!!

I cannot wait to return!

Diner Review №34

One of the best drunken noodles I ever had. Panang quasadilla with tofu was tasty. Tofu wings were fine but I wish it was spicy flavored instead of sweetness.

My husband and I arrived for happy hour and had an enjoyable time. Gordon, our bartender, was a joy! We also ordered the papaya salad and it was adequately spicy. Will return again for more good eats and good vibes

Diner Review №39

Server Ying is the most amazing and considerate server with the best customer service ever!!! Food was very good and she makes sure we’re fully satisfied. We always request her as our server.

Diner Review №40

What a fantastic restaurant! We happened to discover it right before the Christmas and New Year holidays and it was super festive! The food was amazing and the service was top notch! Highly recommend, especially their Christmas themed cocktail menu!

Diner Review №41

Diner Review №42

It seems this place is turning to be our weekday favorite! Food and service is consistent when ever you go. Smilie faces greet you with ready suggestions for their new holiday drink menu and food.
Zack the Manager is always such a pleasure to see. Always around to come check on you .
Love this place !

Diner Review №43

Overpriced!!! Small portions… stay away from dessert’s extra small portions for what they charge! $11.00 for something smaller than a cupcake is ridiculous!

Diner Review №44

The vibes, the service, the taste!!! Everything was 10/10! We especially loved Aey our waitress, she was so friendly as we aggressively ordered half the menu. Also a must visit during the holidays, I loved their Christmas decorations. Will be returning again!!!

Diner Review №45

Worst thai ever ... I hv had better thai for better price..food was too sweet for my taste...

Diner Review №48

It was our first time at this restaurant. They have wonderful Christmas decorations. Service was very good, food too, for the most part. My soup was barely warm, but my husband’s soup, same as mine, was pleasantly hot and ready to eat. Prices are reasonable, though a little on a higher end for this type of restaurants. Thai tea dessert was ok, but not to my taste. Overall we had a pleasant experience.

Diner Review №49

Diner Review №50

We had a family lunch here. Ambiance is good and atmosphere is lively. Christmas decorations are beautiful. Food tastes same as any standard good Thai restaurant, not exceptionally different or exotic for the price you are paying. Basically, you are paying extra bucks for ambience and atmosphere. Food came fast. The person who took the order is not polite and no smiles.

Amazing Thai Cuisine with Exceptional Service!
I recently dined at Sense of Thai and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious, with authentic flavors that transported me straight to Thailand. Every dish we tried was perfectly balanced in taste and beautifully presented.

What made the experience even more special was our server, Billy. From the moment we sat down, Billy made us feel welcomed and attended to every detail with genuine warmth and professionalism. He was knowledgeable about the menu, recommending dishes that suited our preferences, and he checked in just the right amount to make sure we had everything we needed.

Billy’s friendly demeanor and attentiveness added a personal touch that made the evening unforgettable. Whether you’re a fan of Thai food or trying it for the first time, Sense of Thai is a must-visit, and be sure to ask for Billy—he truly elevates the dining experience!

Can’t wait to come back!

Diner Review №56

10/10 experience, Ask for Ying, she’s amazing.

Diner Review №57

To our surprise the food, service, and ambiance of Sense of Thai’s new Chantilly restaurant is even better than their One Loudoun location. Their food menu options include spicy, vegetarian, and gluten free dishes, offering something for everyone. They will also prepare less spicy versions of their dishes if you request it. Their drink menu offers an extensive list of beer, wine, and cocktails. They will even create a “Dealer’s Choice” cocktail made to your specific palate. We particularly enjoyed their Cry Baby Noodles, Street Fried Rice, Pina Colada Cake, and Spicy Margarita. Our waitress Ying was very friendly and attentive. Food and drinks were served in a timely manner and Ying seemed to know exactly when to check on us to see if we needed drink refills or any additional dishes. We couldn’t have been more pleased with our dining experience. Welcome to the neighborhood.

Diner Review №58

Food is mediocre, not as good as their Loudon one location. There are plenty of options out there

Diner Review №59

I had high expectations because I heard it would have a luxurious taste, but it wasn't much different from other regular Thai restaurants!

We dined at the South Riding location for the first time. Absolutely loved the ambience of the restaurant. The place was packed, but the food and service were remarkable.
Our server, Aey, was amazing and took really good care of us.

Diner Review №64

Diner Review №65

Food is too good, enjoyed the ambience and atmosphere. Service is awesome but the prices are slightly higher than expected.

Diner Review №66

Diner Review №67

We very enjoyed having lunch. Beautiful inside, food and service was amazing.

Diner Review №68

Food was really good! Our server Ying was also really kind too.

Diner Review №69

It really is unfortunate to give this review considering I’ve been a long time patron of their One Loudoun location. I’ve been to the South Riding one 3 times now and can say my 2 star rating will be upheld.

Atmosphere: The interior is very well done and clean. A slightly different ambiance than One Loudoun but beautiful nonetheless and clean.

Food: Drunken noodles here are wonderful and very flavorful, but that is all the high marks I can give. The Chumphon pad thai is overwhelmingly earthy with its high volume of chives and bean sprouts- tasted like 10% pad thai, 90% grass and for $30 I would expect actual whole pieces of shrimp and more flavor. The pork in the PAT pad thai (owner’s recipe) had an extremely unpleasant smell of old and spoiled meat with a sour aftertaste. Their spice levels are all very inconsistent as well- when ordering the pad thai gai and drunken noodles at spice level 5 for both, drunken noodles were disproportionately more spicy. Granted it could have been because drunken noodles already come spicy, it should have been up to the server to mention the variances of the spice scale between both.

Service: I believe the service here is very misleading. Who seemed to be the manager greeted us very warmly and sat us quickly with small talk, along with our server as well. We ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer which came out after 20 minutes and crispy on the outside, but was completely gray, translucent and raw on the inside. I brought this up to my server and all she said was “well do you want something else or what?” To say I was taken aback would be an understatement. I wasn’t expecting for our whole meal to be comped or even just the appetizer because I just wanted my food made properly and at the very least a word from the manager. I asked if I could just get it remade and there was no one that tried to rectify the issue with us in mind. We waited another 10 minutes for our appetizer which came out dripping in oil, not crispy but thankfully fully cooked the second time around. After dropping our remade food off our server said “things like this happen, you understand” with a big smile. Yes, I understand that things like this DO happen but the way she handled everything left an awful taste in my mouth both figuratively and literally. That was the nail in the coffin and last time I will go there or recommend this sense of thai to anyone.

Diner Review №70

Good new place for thai. There is a wait. I would recommend calling up.

Diner Review №71

We enjoyed a lovely and memorable lunch at a newly opened Thai restaurant. We appreciated its stylish interior decor, which featured fashionable furnishings, an elegant contemporary chandelier at the center of the ceiling, mirrors, granite-top tables, and a cohesive color scheme of white, pink, gold, and brass. The tasteful design elements and inclusion of plants added to the inviting atmosphere.

Our server, Game, provided excellent service. He was knowledgeable and personable, assisting us in selecting menu items and ensuring we had a pleasant dining experience, which we truly valued.

We began our meal with the Siam Platter, which offered a generous array of Som Tum Salad, beef and pork belly, chicken wings, and deep-fried pork rinds, complemented by two accompanying dipping sauces. The Tom Yum Style Beef Noodle Soup was ideal for the cool weather, combining savory flavors with the zesty chili of Tom Yum, while the tender flank steak enhanced the overall harmony of the dish.

We also tried the Cry Baby Noodles, a recommended dish inspired by the Netflix film "Hunger." It was satisfying and delicious, featuring hot sauce, Chinese pork sausage, and perfectly cooked flat noodles.

We enjoyed both Thai Iced Tea and Lychee Thai Tea to refresh ourselves. By the end of our meal, we were pretty full and, unfortunately, did not have room for dessert, which we look forward to trying on our next visit to this charming restaurant.

Diner Review №72

My husband and I were in the area and stopped by after seeing this restaurant on Instagram. Our waiter, Game, was extremely nice and helpful, making sure all of our questions were answered if we had any about the menu. Our food was so good and the restaurant had a beautiful ambiance. We ordered the Pineapple Fried Rice, Pad Zee U, Crab Rangoon, Fried Calamari. It was all delicious. Oh, and grab the Thai Iced Coffee. You won't regret it!

Diner Review №73

An outstanding decor and ambiance with great food & cocktails. Went here for dinner with friends and had great time. This newly opened branch is a great addition to the community

Diner Review №74

Amazing authentic Thai food!!!

This place offers the best Thai food with authentic taste in the area! The service is both attentive and efficient. The decoration is so elegance! Highly recommended Ka Pow Fried Rice and Chumporn Pat Thai. The waffle is surprisingly soooo soooooo good!! 👍

Diner Review №77

The restaurant is beautiful, I like how you guys decorated it! The food is amazing, especially the dessert! Lastly, I am impressed with the service!

Diner Review №78

Diner Review №79

Beautiful Ambience, Yummy Food.

Diner Review №80

The prices are WAY too high for the amount of food. Horrible pricing. We don’t get food here very often.

Diner Review №81

I had a fantastic experience at The Sense of Thai, thanks to the exceptional service provided by manager Zack. From the moment we arrived, he greeted us warmly and made us feel welcome. It was my friend’s birthday, and Zack went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable celebration. His professionalism and attention to detail were evident throughout the evening, as he ensured everything was perfect from the ambiance to the service. I highly recommend The Sense of Thai, and I can't thank Zack enough for making the occasion so special!

Diner Review №82

Their food is so tasty and reasonably priced. Exquisite interior and a refreshing outdoor. And for all the spicy food lovers, this is the place to be. My husband and I are in love with this place.

Diner Review №83

Diner Review №84

Service was terrible. This was our first visit when we ordered food we asked the server about how spicy food would be and he told us that spicy number two is not bad and when we got the food, the food was so spicy we couldn’t eat it. we called the waiter over and told him and he completely ignored the situation Didn’t even bother to replace that dish. We ordered some food to go and they gave us dried chicken. Looks like it came from a can. The food was horrible.

Diner Review №87

This was our first visit to the restaurant after attending a trade show and Winery. The decor is beautiful, very ornate and something you would expect to see in a Thai restaurant. The staff, hostesses, and chefs operated like a well-oiled machine. After being told there would be a 45-minute wait, we were pleasantly surprised to be seated in 20 minutes. The server shared special features and things we should know. She made recommendations on great dishes that did not disappoint. We chose the ginger chicken and added shrimp. We also had the crab fried rice. Both were delicious. For drinks, we ordered the Jamaican rum punch and another specialty cocktail. Both were delicious. The only thing that we would change if the opportunity presented itself would be to address the noise level in the restaurant. Having a conversation was a bit of a challenge. There are only two stalls in the women's bathroom with a place that large three or four would make the wait time considerably shorter. Also, all of the drinks came with an ungodly amount of crushed ice. They were almost like snow balls, but we're very good. It was a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend visiting. It will be well worth the wait if there is one.

Diner Review №88

I am surprised at the difference in both the sense of Thai in Ashburn and chantilly…. I was there today oct 9th for my bday….. my entire family is a huge fan…. Even at tiki Thai……. We love the entire experience in both those places. But the serving staff at the chantilly location is so inexperienced compared to the other 2 places I am shocked ….. my mother is vegetarian and even after telling the server the same, In fact telling her that there should be no shrimp sauce ….. we were served the eggplant with it. After telling them they served it wrong …. No apology…. Just a statement u want it vegan …. And we were served vegan….. no choice and not only that the server was changed and …. I see her in the restaurant but just not with us ….. so surreal as compared to our experience at the other 2 places …. I am shocked!!!!! Vegetarians please beware !!!!! Vegans u r should be ok, I think !

Diner Review №89

Place is gorgeous but the food quality not what i expected I ordered the chiken ginger and i was charge another 5$ for the chicken that already comes with it not even indication on the menue that says that. Also the food was too salty and oily.
Not coming back any soon

Diner Review №90

Love this place!!! I’ve been to both locations, food is amazing, the staff is very friendly, and the decor is on point!! I wish they are closer to where we live.

Diner Review №91

I’ve been a regular at their One Loudoun location, and I was excited when they opened a closer location at south riding. I really enjoy their food, and the restaurant staff has always been friendly. However, during my last visit, I felt rushed to leave. About 20 minutes after we received our meals, we were asked for takeout boxes and our check, which made the experience feel a bit hurried.

Additionally, I was interested in trying a whiskey and asked the bartender about the price for a pour. It was a bit higher than I expected, so I politely asked if there was a better offer. Unfortunately, he dismissed me quite abruptly. When I suggested splitting a pour with my friend, he told me he would ignore me like an unwanted vegetable on his plate if I asked again. I couldn’t tell if he was trying to be funny, but it didn’t come off that way to me. He didn’t seem busy at all and looked annoyed when he asked if I wanted the drink.

Overall, food was good but it wasn’t the best atmosphere to enjoy a whiskey, and I hope for a better experience next time.

Diner Review №92

Food served after an hour of ordering, water dripping from the roof, maybe the AC vend. Noisy atmosphere and food isn’t great either.

Diner Review №93

Diner Review №94

This was only our first time. Got a bunch of different apps, fried fish and duck. Everything was excellent. We really needed an upscale Asian restaurant in the neighborhood and this place did not disappoint. Highly recommend

Diner Review №95

Sense of Thai is an absolute gem in an area where authentic Thai food can be hard to come by. From the moment you step in, the ambiance is warm and inviting, setting the stage for a wonderful dining experience. The menu offers a wide variety of options, and every dish is packed with flavor. The Pat Pad Thai was perfectly balanced, and the Lamb lollipop had the right amount of spice. Their drink menu is equally impressive, with creative cocktails that pair with the food. The staff is attentive and friendly, making you feel right at home. Whether you're a Thai food enthusiast or trying it for the first time, Sense of Thai is a must-visit!

Diner Review №96

One word: fantastic.
What other Thai restaurant can nail the right balance of food, drink and atmosphere?
5ense of Thai will satiate your hunger, quench your thirst and leave you wanting to come back (I think I've been here almost every week for the past 5 weeks).
Don't know exactly what you want to drink? Go for the Dealer's Choice. The bar staff will take care of understanding what you like and whip something up for you that you will truly enjoy.
The food? What can I say? If you like Thai food, you will love the menu.
Last but not least, the ambience and decor: if you're familiar with Bangkok then you'll recognize right away where they drew inspiration and managed to combine into something thay everyone wants to post on their IG.
Bravo 5ense of Thai, Bravo 👏

Diner Review №97

It was our first time there. We are a family of 4, two kids and two adults. we were immediately seated around 5pm on Friday. There were only 2 other tables there when we arrived. We kept waiting for someone to come and take our order. We waited a good 15min and we were not even acknowledge. Other two tables got seated and we were all looking around for people to come help us. There were a lot of servers, managers and people in the kitchen walking around but they seemed to be occupied with something else. Maybe online orders? We were about to walk out because the kids were getting restless. Eventually I just flagged someone, she gave us water and took went to find a server. We saw them arguing a bit from afar. Eventually the server came to the table across from us (which got there after us but they were also waiting). The server just asked "who was here first" and luckily the other table (which also had small kids) told them we were here way before. The server never apologized. We only saw her a few times. Food was great. We wanted to try desert but we just couldn't wait for someone to come ask. Eventually we had to flag someone to get a box and the check. The place wasn't even that busy. It's just very poorly organized. I hope they get it together.

Diner Review №98

Steak was horrible!! And the quantity of meat is way low

Diner Review №99

Food was mediocre at best. The portions were small for the amount you pay. I had a takeout order and the front of house was terrible. Would recommend finding other thai restaurants in the area.

Diner Review №100

Love the atmosphere! The highlight of our visit is the fried soft shell crab, the sauce is delicious! We order healthy wrap (sorry, it is too healthy for me), crispy chives cake, crispy duck, fried branşıno, and friend softshell crab.

Diner Review №101

Got 2 starters and 3 entrees to share. Portions aren’t family sized. Som Tom (papaya salad) and Pat Pad Thai are the best from the selection we got, will order again. Everything else was average. The drinks are amazing.

Diner Review №102

My parents and I went out to eat here for lunch and we had the best experience. The food was fresh, hot, delicious, and the service was exceptional despite being busy. We ordered a bunch of appetizers: crab Rangoon, healthy rolls, coconut shrimp and the chicken satay. All were phenomenal. 10/10 recommend. The coconut shrimp was a jumbo shrimp and really crunchy and crispy. The healthy rolls were basically summer rolls but we got them as made with the minced chicken. I’d probably just get them vegetarian but all the options were really good. We ordered the eggplant dish with the chicken and they both got soups. The lemongrass soup (clear broth) and the soup with the coconut milk broth. Will definitely be returning here often and regularly.

Diner Review №103

It was a pleasant surprise to walk into. Feels like a real date inside!

Diner Review №104

Green Curry & Pad Thai was delicious , in the all food was great!

Diner Review №105

The place was very nice for a friend to meet but the food was not quite to meet. The flavors need more into. The amount of food needs a little more to meet the price. My friends and I came here for the order of Drunken Noodles, seafood volcano, Lychee Duck Curry, and Spicy whole squid. With two drinks, we order Love Yuzu and Pomegranate Lamonade. They both taste lemonade. Just the name and colors, not any difference. The Foods have not met my taste.Just the spicy whole squids are alright.

Diner Review №108

Delicious food! I love the vibe though! My server was so nice, very friendly! I will be back for sure!!!

Diner Review №109

Went for a different option but I ended up there, loved the menu and the staff.
The Basil Chicken was pretty tasty.

Diner Review №110

Food was unimpressive. The waiter went on a 30 minutes break while we were almost finishing up our lunch, he did tell us but he didn’t say whether it was him or the cooks. We thought it was the cook so we didn’t mind. But later waited to realize it was him. I had to get out of seat and get the server to give me the check. 30 minutes to make someone to wait was not a good approach to allow their employees to take a break. Big group was very loud.

Diner Review №111

Great food and atmosphere. Service was very attentive. Thank you.

Diner Review №112

Food was amazing! Great service , pulawat great management, really good! Definitely coming back

Diner Review №113

Great job across the board. Food service and ambiance were superb. Enjoyed a great night with my family. They accommodated my daughter’s allergies and she enjoyed so much. Manager Pulawat was awesome. Saw him talking to all tables and all servers were so kind. We will be back for more of it.

Diner Review №114

I recently went in because I heard the new location opened and some co-workers suggested I try. Honestly I had a great experience. The food is what I expected compared to the thier other restaurant tiki which has more of a night club vibe. But the staff and atmosphere here where amazing still fun but, a much cozier environment. The staff was so friendly and got me everything I needed before I had to even ask! I plan on making this one of my regular night out spots.

Diner Review №115

Star ratings based on Food, Price, Ambiance, Service and Overall Experience

Ambiance (good) - when you enter here you already know that you are paying for the decor.

Service (average) - waitress was nice but she threw away our leftovers when we asked for to-go boxes (only ate half our dinner). She said sorry and gave a cringe face, then walked away.

Price (bad) - the price of the food did not justify the taste. Anyone can use fresh ingredients, it doesn't mean the food will taste the best.

Food (average) - mediocre. Mom & pop hole in the walls have better Pad Thai. Although, the calamari wasn't bad.

Overall Experience (subpar) - we arrived during the dinner rush on a Friday. We waited 35 minutes to get a table for two. It was a packed house and very loud. You had to yell at each other to carry a conversation. Our calamari appetizer took 25 minutes to arrive and the dinner plates came in about 1 minute after the appetizer. we noticed a lot of carry out orders and thought that might have been a better option. Some people may like this experience but it's not for us. Not coming back.

Diner Review №121

Most wonderful experience every time my kids and I dine in. Everyone is so knowledgeable about the dishes and recommendations are to the point. Don't be afraid to ask for non spicy because they can do it and flavor stay amazing. My son try the crispy duck and was amenzing , I almost miss taking the pick because he couldn't stop eating and had to fight to try the dish. 💪 The drinks are so cute and tasteful and waffle desserts yummy 😋

Diner Review №122

Perfect location in South Riding. Nice, big, open, grand design. Since they are new they have plenty of staff to service you. We like the peking duck quesadilla, southern pad thai and the drinks. Unfortunately the pork belly and basil duck are both too tough, therefore 3 stars on the food. Maybe I will try something else like curry and more common dishes like fried rice, pad see ew next time.

This new restaurant is definitely one to try if you live in the area. The food was absolutely delicious and came out quick. We had the coconut shrimp, crab fried rice, pineapple fried rice, and drunken noodles. The service was attentive and consistent throughout the whole experience. Definitely going back and I'd recommend this place to anyone.

Like many others, really looked forward to eating here. We have previously eaten at the Sense of Thai at One Loudoun.

First Imoressions: decor very modern & visually interesting especially to me as a photographer. Noise level was definitely excessive, even when we were first seated and restaurant not full. We were promotly seated in one of the alcoved banquettes backed by the other beautifully decorated indoor seating area. We were quickly provided glasses of water by one of the runners, but there was quite a but of time before a server actually came to take our order. I want to give a shout out to Piper, she saw that we had been waiting for some time to place our order and came over to do so, even though she said that she was not assigned to our table. Thank you Piper!

Food & Drink: First of all, I want to say that Thai food is a very familiar cuisine to both me & my husband…over time, we have eaten at several other Thai restaurants llocally in Chantilly, Fairfax City, Mosaic District, One Loudoun, Tysons, Manassas, Reston & Falls Church to name a few. I have also taken Thai cooking classes.
We choose items to order based on the menu descriptions to try out what made them different from other Thai restaurants we have tried.
Drinks: Pineapple juice, Lychee Thai Tea
Starters: Crying Tiger, Crispy Pork Belly, Panfried Chive Cake & Lamb Lollipops
Entree: Braised Pork Ramen soup, Tom Yum Style & Duck Ramen soup
Dessert: Mango with Sticky Coconut Rice
Standouts: Lamb Lollipops & Mango Sticky Rice

Nice Thai restaurant. Fully renovated inside and outside. Place is clean. Food came quickly and prepared well. Staff was attentive and friendly.

Diner Review №127

Fairly new place in the area. Good decor. Very airy. Plenty of seats inside and al frescoe. Food is good. Calamari is super. The crab fried rice is amazing as well. Will be back if only for the fried rice and calamari. And attentive service is noticeable. Highly recommend this new Thai place.

Had an amazing time at Sense of Thai - South Riding! The place is beautifully decorated—every corner is Instagram-worthy. The food is super authentic and absolutely delicious. If you're looking for a great spot to enjoy some real flavors and a lovely atmosphere, this is it! Can't wait to go back!

The food here was very good. We didn’t have to wait long for our appetizers or entrees to come out (10-15 mins at most) and once we got our food we were satisfied. The ginger chicken ($17) was tender and fresh but lacked a little flavor, and the Pad See Ew ($18) was comforting. Noodles cooked perfectly, sauce was just the right amount of sweetness. However, I’ve had the same exact taste at different Thai restaurants for much cheaper (around $13).

The Thai tea was one of the best I’ve had ($6.50), on par with Ocha Thai Kitchen. Additionally the chicken satay ($13) was tender and excellent. The cucumber sauce along with the peanut sauce was wonderful.

The restaurant itself was elegant and felt high end. Service was good and friendly (initially).

We went on a Saturday August 31st around 2 PM, and it was lively but not busy. We were seated right away, and our orders were taken promptly. But for the rest of our time there we were practically ignored. No water refills, no check-ins, and it felt like the wait staff were intentionally trying not to make eye contact. It was a pain to try and get the check at the end too, even when we made eye contact they would ignore us. You really have to vocalize what you want there.

For dessert we got the Coconut Banana ($11). It was an excellent concept and tasted nice, but it left more to be desired. It was really heavy, and was lacking salt. For those of you interested in the Thai tea cocktail (a whopping $15), my friend got it and she had to send it back. No flavor, no Thai tea notes, just straight alcohol. It wasn’t for us, especially for that price point.

Sense of Thai is a good place for a date night, but with so many other excellent Thai places around, you might not be coming here long term.

Diner Review №131

A few of the signature dishes weren’t available for online ordering. I got the coconut shrimp, pad see u, crying tiger, and seafood pad thai. The pad see u was a bit greasy, but still tasty. The pad thai was ok, packed with a good size of scallops and shrimps. I was let down that half of the coconut shrimp was just batter. Overall, it was decent—nice to have some variety around the neighborhood.

Diner Review №132

Excellent food and wonderful service and atmosphere. Great place to celebrate birthdays and other special occasions!

Diner Review №133

Amazing experience dining at sense of thai.
Loved their Chumpon Pad Thai. The place felt a little noisy but manageable. Will definitely go back to try more of their signature dishes. (Cry Baby Noodles)

Diner Review №134

We were excited to try this new kid in the town. The interior is good but it's too noisy. Wish they have some noise cancelling acoustic panels added to the decor. I don't know why they add so much sugar to all the dishes. We ordered drunken noodles, yellow curry and fried rice. All had too much sugar in it. Overall it was ok . But wish they were not that sweet. Didn't feel like ordering a dessert. If one is health conscious think twice 🙂

Diner Review №135

Overall experience was amazing. We definitely come back. Great job Sense of Thai!

Diner Review №136

Just opened - but enjoyed all the food and service. I've eaten Thai at so many places including in Thailand. Don't expect the "best" but it's still a great place to eat with friends and family. Hope it gets steady customers. The area needs more restaurant options like this!!

Diner Review №137

Such an authentic Thai food . I had a good time with my family at Sense of Thai South Riding , Virginia. We were so lucky to get the table in the short time . The restaurant just opened a few weeks in this area but was crowded. The lobby was so fancy there were a lot of people took pictures as check-in . I and my family loved the way that Chef Patty plated the dishes that were so artistic. Our waitress was great . The atmosphere was charmed as well , the bar was outstanding. Menu for cocktails, appetizer, meals, desserts were perfectly in detail. I got green papaya salad and Basil chicken , amazing 👍. Next time I’m gonna try Chumpon Pad Thai , that’s look awesome. Will back soon .

This is a really cool restaurant option for the South Riding area. The atmosphere is awesome. Food is wonderful. Service was quick and thorough.

We enjoyed 2 appetizers, 2 specialty drinks and 3 entrees. Our total bill was about $120 including a 20% tip. So about $40 per person with tip.

We had the spring rolls and coconut shrimp starters. 2 Thai teas, curry soup, pineapple rice with chicken and beef ramen. We had food leftover to bring home.

Definitely a little on the higher side of cost but it is worth it. This should do well here in South Riding.

Diner Review №140

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sense of Thai restaurant in South Riding, Virginia, and it was an overall delightful experience. The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a casual meal or a special occasion. The staff were welcoming and attentive, ensuring we felt comfortable throughout our visit.

We started our meal with some appetizers, and I must say, the healthy rolls, tofu wings, and calamari were absolutely delicious. The healthy rolls were fresh and vibrant, packed with a variety of vegetables that provided a nice crunch with each bite. The tofu wings were a standout for me; they were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with a savory glaze that was just right. The calamari was perfectly cooked—tender with a light, crispy coating that wasn’t too greasy.

For the main course, I tried the Pad Thai and duck noodle soup. The Pad Thai was okay, with a good balance of flavors, though I’ve had slightly better elsewhere. However, the duck noodle soup was a pleasant surprise. The broth was rich and flavorful, and the duck was tender and cooked to perfection.

The drinks, although a bit on the sweeter side for my taste, were still refreshing. I tend to prefer less sweet beverages, so this is just a personal preference. We ended our meal with the black sticky rice and ice cream dessert, which was outstanding. The black sticky rice had a nice chewy texture, and the ice cream complemented it perfectly, making for a satisfying end to a great meal.

What a great new Thai place in South Riding. The food was fresh and exceptional! Nicely decorated with a great vibrant yet calm feel. The healthy rolls were freshly made. The Tom Gai soup was probably the best I've ever had . I will definitely be back . No wait earlier in the week. Larger party waited over an hour . Great outdoor dining, bar and booths . Great place for gathering and birthday celebration

Diner Review №143

Very disappointed on the efficiency recently of this place. We were huge fans of the one Loudoun location and when we found out that this was now going to be moved to South right and we were ecstatic to support this business as we were so happy to support the other location with so much enthusiasm. To my disappointment when I made a carry out order on a Friday night, the order said that it would be ready in 60 minutes however it ended up being close to 90 minutes to 2 hours. What made matters worse was that they were completely rude upon arrival saying they had no idea when it would be ready. Sense of Thai food I understand that you have great food, but with that should come great customer service and downright politeness. I hope you do better. We will not be ordering here for a while and I’m so disappointed to be posting such a negative review. Maybe we’ll give it another shot. There are other Thai restaurants luckily around Loudoun especially south riding where there’s so many Asian places. Step it up sense of Thai. Be smarter about your soft launch.

Had a great meal here. I usually go to Tiki Thai in Reston but they opened this one here by my house and it is great. The decor is great and so is the food. Great drinks. I am hoping I don't wind up spending my entire savings here. Take my money!

I went here today for the first time with some friends. The food was absolutely delicious. Our waitress Ivy provided excellent service and was very helpful. If you are looking for a great Thai place. Come check out Sense of Thai in South Riding!!

This my 2nd time ordering online, easy and efficient. Can’t wait til it’s on Ubereats! Today I order the Angry Shrimp with jasmine rice and crab fried rice. I ordered at 6:51 and it showed a 60 minute pick up time. I showed up at 40 minutes it was waiting for me. Easy to pickup, the place is gorgeous, much improved sense )you get it :) the former tenant. The place was full and vibrant! Which is a very good sign for this side of town! I have no pictures unfortunately as I was starving, but trust me the good was excellent! The angry shrimp is just that, say it with me “spicccccy” and I love it!! The crab rice is delectable with good size chunks of real crab meat! Definitely worth the price point! Welcome to south Riding! I’ll certainly return either way my buddies! Chef’s kiss! Kudos.

Diner Review №148

The food was delicious with just the right amount of spice. I had the Avocado Tum salad and hubby had the Chili-Garlic Pig. We enjoyed our meal on the patio on a beautiful August evening. The service was quick and friendly. If we lived closer, we’d put this on our regulars list.

Diner Review №149

Wow. Can’t say how disappointed I am regarding this new spot. Most reviews were positive and thought I tried take out for lunch. First, you can’t call and order something but just go online. Fine. I did not see any lunch specials so went ahead with pad Thai chicken as usual for 18 bucks. Get there and the place just looks ok and no one was there to greet me at counter. Got the food and my goodness it’s one of the most bland pad Thais I ever had. No spice or anything. More noodle than anything and even the other ingredients had an odd taste to it as well. I mean highly disappointed that I threw half of it away. Other small spot has better food nearby. It took them so long to open and the quality and service is just not up to par. Maybe they’ll change since it’s recently open but doubt I’ll return.smh

Diner Review №150

It's gorgeous in here. The food is yummy and different. The drinks, beautiful. Servers were full of smiles, welcoming, and attentive. I love that you can ask for Dealer's Choice and get a surprise drink.

Diner Review №151

Excellent dining. Ambiance is good. Service is excellent. Food tastes great.
Highly recommended.

Diner Review №152

Good food and service. Very loud.

Diner Review №153

South Riding needs more restaurants like this establishment. The staff was kind and quick on their feet. The food is delicious! And the place is beautifully remodeled! This will definitely be a new regular spot for me. The spicey basil and the Pad Thai are great options. “medium” spice is actually decently spicey. I strongly recommend getting the calamari as an appetizer.

Diner Review №154

My wife and I were very exciting at the prospect of upscale Thai within 5 minutes of us. So, we jumped at the first opportunity to give them a try. We arrived a little after 2:30pm on a Saturday thinking it would be slow, but there were lots of people who, perhaps, had the same idea.

As we typically do, we tried our standard dishes -- Drunken Noodles for me and Pad See U Noodles for her (pictured -- you can tell the Drunken Noodles as it has cherry tomatoes and carrots).

We agreed that we've had better versions of both dishes at other Thai restaurants in this area. The Spring Rolls were good. The black iced tea tasted like it was dispensed out of a soda fountain. The water served was room temperature.

The atmosphere is bright and lively and there is outside seating for those interested in alfresco dining. Although, the Home Depot across from it does not make the most pleasant experience.

Service was somewhat slow, but they'd only been open a few days, so there's a good chance they'll get better.

We both decided we'd return to try some of their signature dishes before we reach a final conclusion. But, so far, it has not displaced our favorite place, which is 25 minutes from us. If the signature dishes wow us, I may revise my rating.

Diner Review №155

Delicious Drunken noodle and spicy basil. Placed order online. Picked up in 20 minutes. Will dine in when the area stops acting like there's no other food in town lol

Diner Review №156

Outstanding quality of food and service and obviously the ambiance is easy on the eyes. Their food is always good so they did not disappoint on opening week. It was extremely busy but they were able to deliver. We got there a few mins early and waited for our seat. We ordered a margaritas, Tummy Time and Blue check and those were amazing.. the blue check has a mezcal mist that gave it a smokey aroma. For apps we ordered spring rolls, crab Rangoon and calamari and they were all excellent. For our meals we ordered Kapow fried rice with beef and chicken Pad Thai and they were both amazing. I love spicy food but because I sweat profusely, I asked if they could make mine not spicy so it was nice to know they make that accommodation.

Diner Review №157

Ambience to amazing. One of the best in the Aldie area but unfortunately extremely understaffed, service has been ridiculously slow and the food quality is no where near a standard Thai restaurant. Hope they get that fixed quickly.

Diner Review №158

Great food! Our waitress was also super nice!!

Diner Review №160

I just discovered that Sense of Thai opened in South Riding on Wednesday so my son and I made reservations and went there last night. I have not been to the one in Ashburn. It was so good! When we arrived, there was about a 45-60 minute wait, so I am glad I was able to get a reservation at the last minute. There was a slight mixup with our reservation and the host/manager accidentally gave our table to another party. While we waited for another table to open up he brought both of us a glass of bubbly for the inconvenience; I was so impressed.
We ordered four items and I took pictures of each of them. We have loads of leftovers.
I highly recommend them but I would make a reservation if possible. Even though they were packed we still had excellent service.

Diner Review №161

Atmosphere:
- love the decor, atmosphere, and the ambience.
- the dining room is bright thanks to the lights and the windows
- white and gold color scheme with mirror accents
- room lighting has a warm tone apart from the center atom-like chandelier. they dim the lights as daylight falls, which highlights the ambient lighting they have. it makes for a great date spot.

Thai iced tea
- has the signature thai tea taste
- a bit sugary
- has finely crushed ice on top
- the ice melts faster because of how thin they are, and because of that it dilutes the drink over the course of your meal. i actually prefer it this way since i like my drinks a bit on the less sugary side.

Bangkok wings
- the meat was too dry, unless it's suppose to be this way. no bueno.
- the batter is thick and is similar to the potato starch batter used in Korean Fried Chicken. its inconsistent, so there were some areas that had a clumps of batter.
- a bit too salty and tangy for my taste

Cry baby noodles
- the noodles were cooked very well. very soft, not overcooked/mushy, and has a chewy texture to it
- flavor is spot on. i would say the flavor is a bit on the milder side, but when combined together you get this subtle umami taste that is just perfect. its a little sweet, a little savory, and a little tangy.
- the chinese sausage is very juicy and tender. does not taste store bought, which is great.
- shrimp is cooked very well. not overcooked/mushy
- loved how hot (temperature wise) the dish came out.
- i've never wanted to take another bite of my dish whilst not even having finished the food in my mouth yet. it may sound over-exaggerated, but it was honestly that addicting. watch out, or you'll get burned from how hot and steamy the noodles are. just remember to take it easy and slow down. food ain't going anywhere and if you happen to live nearby, well then they are just down the street :)

Yellow chicken curry
- it tasted great in the beginning, but as the dish cools down it started to taste very salty
- the chicken thigh was very tender. you could effortlessly tear a piece off with your fork from a gentle pick
- the roti is different from what i'm used to, but it's still good. it comes out as these triangle-shaped pieces that are crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. each roti has a hallow center which is able to capture some of that yellow curry as you dip, and just like the tender chicken thigh, the roti breaks and melts in your mouth easily.

Chili-garlic pig with spice level adjusted to just a little under thai spicy
- it has a strong lingering kick. adjust spice at your own discretion.
- the meaty part of the pork belly was a bit dry
- overall dish was a bit too salty
- the rice pairs well with the dish. it's not very flavorful which is great because it helps blunt some of that saltiness

Stir fried bok choy
- a pretty simple dish. it contains diced garlic and is a bit savory.
- bok choy was not overcooked
- garlic was not burnt
- no complaints. order this side dish to balance out the carb heavy entres on the menu.

Coconut ice cream & black sticky rice
- the icecream is decent. the coconut taste is pretty apparent, but it's not a very "creamy" icecream.
- there's a layer of rice on the bottom of the dessert. i'm not sure if its because there's cold icecream sitting on top or the rice was refrigerated beforehand, but it was very hard. i think i prefer rice that's been warmed up because it makes each grain softer and easier to chew.

Service:
- excellent service given how crowded it was
- they forgot to include the roti with the yellow chicken curry, but it was quickly brought out when it was addressed.
- empty plates were taken from the table pretty frequently
- server was not that attentive in the beginning, but that's perfectly fine given how crowded and busy it was. attentiveness level gradually increased as the crowd died down. its just an observation, no complaints here.

Parking:
- no issues finding parking in the back parking lot behind fosters grill.
- if you're lucky, you may find a spot in the front.

Overall very happy.
