Popular Thai curries & noodle dishes served in a bright restaurant with quaint, modern decor.
Absolutely delicious. Stopped in for an impromptu meal later in the evening and was so glad that I did. Appetizers were a 3 piece Curry Puff a 4 piece Duck Roll, super crisp and perfectly flavored. Main was both a Pad See Ew and Pad Thai with chicken. I leaned toward the Pad Thai, but more so because that is one of my all time favorite dishes. Clean restaurant with a friendly staff that was very attentive.
We recently dined at this Thai restaurant for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed the delectable Thai cuisine. The portions were generous, and the calamari fries were impeccably prepared with a crispy batter and a delicious accompanying sauce. The Pad See Ew was richly flavorful with a perfect balance of soy sauce, complemented by wide noodles and seafood, while the Rad Na was excellently prepared with a delightful chef's gravy sauce. The service provided was satisfactory, and the restaurant's ambiance was clean and tidy.
Be prepare, be ready because the food is spicy but I LOVE IT.
You better ask how spicy level you want.
My family and friend really enjoy coming here, the place is small and warm. Good decor for Thai restaurant
The best Thai restaurant in Clifton area. The dishes taste really good especially the crispy duck curry is a must try and you won’t regret it. Pattaya Seafood and chicken ka pow are also the best seller. Also the crispy fried whole fish is great. The sweet rice is really a perfect combination to their tasty dishes. The only downside of eating here is, it takes a bit longer for orders to get served because it’s just them who runs the store and only 2 servers are taking orders for to go, dine in and pick up. Also the place isn’t that big but it’s clean and well arranged. Just be patient because the food taste really good. It’s worth the wait.
Love this spot! Great food. Only 4 stars because the service can be a little spotty. Last time was really great, some times before we felt like our presence was an inconvenience to the server. I strongly suggest the salmon dish. I was tired of the normal order and decided to branch out and it was incredible, salmon was cooked absolutely perfectly and the curry was mildly spicy and a little sweet. My mouth is watering just thinking about it again! There’s not a lot of space inside, I wouldn’t suggest a large group here.

Very food
The food here is amazing. Cozy atmosphere. Great service.
My goto place for Thai cuisine. Food is fantastic and highly recommended.

Why is the gentleman at the register asking if I’ve paid for my lunch order that I placed online and holding onto my lunch until I confirmed that it was? I just showed you my online order on my phone first thing upon walking in and it also says on your own printed receipt attached to the plastic bag that it’s an online order which you can only submit after paying for it with a credit card. Ridiculous. Also their portions are always inconsistent, it just seems like it’s getting smaller and smaller every time.
We were served spoiled coconut milk!!
Came in for lunch with my family, and the food was ok so we decided to order dessert (sticky rice with mango). We took a bite of the dessert and immediately spat it out because the coconut milk on top of the sticky rice was sour and slimy.
My advice is to not order anything with coconut milk (i.e. curry), because you might not taste it when they cook it up. The food had way too much MSG too. They should at least taste their food before serving..
Horrible experience. Please eat somewhere else.
The lunch special is a good deal
This cozy and comfortable place was such a delight to eat at. Beautiful decor, delicious food, and great service made for an excellent experience. We will be coming back.

Greetings
I have placed an order from this establishment and was extremely disappointed by finding 3 long strands of hair in my Thai fried rice. I was extremely hungry and in a bind for food. I have shared the food with my girlfriend and immediately stopped from eating noticing a hair was in her bowl. She requested that I contact them of the experience and discussed giving the benefit of the doubt as a potential one of. Then I begin eating to notice a hair on my hair and I was applaud. Then I started really searching my food and notice another long strand of hair. So, the restaurant is now closed and my advice is to not order take out under any circumstances. Unless, you want to deal with the hair infused dishes.
We showed up at 9:15 and were told take our only. Not cool when you close at 10 pm. I have loved every iteration of this restaurant but this was not cool. I get it you want to close early but wow. Never had this treatment. Service 0.
Our server was very pleasant and serves us even though they were closing shortly. I would certainly return.
This is hands down the best Thai food in the area. Every time we go, we try something new, and it always impresses us. Everything is excellent, but we especially love the Prik Gleur and Duck Curry. The restaurant is a bit small, but we've never had trouble getting a table, even with a group of six.
The pad thai tasted nothing like pad thai lol watery and soggy
We regularly drive from Raleigh just for some Pad Prik Gleur! If you are there, you must try it! Vegetarian...just get the pork...Meat eater...get double pork. Literally the best thing you can eat!
Sakoonthai is a must-visit! Their pad Thai and drunken noodle are superb, and the service is excellent. Highly recommend for authentic Thai cuisine!
The place is very small but the food was good.
It's delicious 👌
The duck dish is delicious. We ordered a couple of appetizers and loved everything. The mango sticky rice rocks! It's a small cozy place with awesome service.
It was a fancy atmosphere with delicious food type of restaurant.
We don't have a favorite Thai restaurant because they are usually overly sweet n salty. This place is more subtle with the seasoning and it's a welcome difference.
Been doing take out here the last few years, it has become our go to for Thai takeout. Very consistent and so fast. Prices are extremely reasonable. Inside is small but cozy. Great local spot.
The food is perfect, original Thai taste!
Nice small place for a meal.
Absolutely delicious! Great vegetarian options. Delicious Tom Yum soup! Just found this place, this week - this is my second time back, this week!
First timer. Ordered togo. Asked a few reasonable questions as a first timer such as how big is the dinner size compared to lunch size? Which would you recommend -- shrimp or chicken? And (to check I've got everything I ordered before leaving) does this bag have everything I've ordered, including the side dishes?
What. In. The. World.... I must have done something sooooooo horrible.
Hey ladies, you don’t have to be irate for asking simple questions.
It was like our being there was an utter annoyance.
Forget it. I'll take my hard-earned money somewhere else. I don't see this place lasting long with that kinda attitude and service. Am surprised this place even managed to get so many stars.
Need a quick mediocre not-gonna-get-you-sick food, know what you're getting, don't mind bad service? The Suck-oon Thai is a great place for you.
Like I can't get Thai somewhere else. A better one at that.
My wife loves the beef drunken noodles. Very nice and polite staff.
I love this Thai restaurant! Their glass noodles are the best!

This is second kilfton wich built near the sea of karachi. People all over from Pakistan go and visited kaliftan and enjoy food.also visit the shraien ghazi abdullah sha
I had the boneless crispy duck with curry sauce. Fantastic! Sauce on the side so don't worry about the spice, you control to your taste. Generous portions, lots of veggies fresh and not over cooked. Pad Thai a family favorite here also.
Our favorite dishes are red curry, drunken noodles, mango and sticky rice.
Food was really good, can do pad Thai without peanut’s
This restaurant has such a cute atmosphere. The pad thai and calamari never disappoint!
Always amazing!!!!
There sea food salad is the best in the NOVA area!
Great food and service. Try the thai tea after eating it is a nice treat too

It's a small place, and you may have to wait a while, but the food is good.
Maybe the best pad thai in the dmv area
The place is nice but incredibly small. The food is mediocre… not the best Thai but can do the trick. What I really didn’t appreciate was the service even though I was just a pickup. I asked if there were utensils, and there weren’t so I asked for forks. The woman didn’t even smile at me and acted as if getting me the forks were a burden. Another lady brought over my check, and when I said thank you, she didn’t even look my way. It makes me sad because this place has so much potential but due to their rude service, I really wouldn’t come here again. It’s not worth the money. Go elsewhere where you’re treated like a human.
The food was delicious!!!
Great food, freshly and delicious. We will be back soon.
Excellent Thai food. My wife and I like their curry and pad thai. They have a small but charming dining area too. Friendly service too. Highly reccomend.
Found this place by accident. Probably the best thai food in DMV. The Tom Yum soup was perfectly seasoned and very flavorful and the drunken noodles were amazing. Will be back soon! Excellent service and ambiance.
One of my very favorites for years! So many gluten-free options and willing to accommodate my picky son. I love their red curry, pad thai and tom kha. Their eggplant lovers is one of the best things I've ever eaten period! My son loves their drunken noodle and Thai tea. Very friendly staff! They are a big part of why we keep coming back.
One of my favorite places for Thai food in the area. I had take out for the past couple years, with their food being less satisfying each time. Tried it the past weekend for dine in, and the food tasted better than my previous experiences. The drunken noodle was good although the noodles were a bit overdone and greasy. Their chicken basil stir fry had great flavor
One of the best Thai places. Cozy, comfortable, great food and service.
Good food can be better with less oil.
This is my partner's favorite restaurant in the area, so I'm writing a review.
He's usually the type to only order one thing from a restaurant- for American, Hispanic, Chinese, etc. This was the first restaurant that made him want to try something new. He's pretty judgemental, so most places are just okay to him. This one was amazing. Hands down the best Thai restaurant he's ever eaten at. Every time we're in the area, this is our go-to spot. (I didn't get a picture of the duck dish he ordered- I'll try to do that next time.)
And for my word- it's a lovely little restaurant. The decor is unique and adorable, it's got a maximalist-chic vibe with large bookshelves filled with a lot of items that make it feel homey and a little upscale all at once. If you order a drink, it comes in these very hipster glass jars, which are reminiscent of Mason jars- but convenient to pick up. (I'll try to get a picture of them later too- I'm very into the jars.) The seats on both sides are cushioned, so there's no fighting over who gets the booth and who gets the hard seat- both are lovely to sit at with equally amazing views. The menu is round and has high quality food photos on each page.
I'm also quite picky with what I eat, and this is the first time I've been to a restaurant where I liked their dipping sauce. Overall, this is my favorite Thai place- not just in the Fairfax area, and definitely worth checking out if you're around.
This is my go to Thai place. I love it! Everything is good here. It's a small, cozy and cute little local place that serves well cooked Thai dishes. Simple and wholesome
We order from here often, and the food has even improved over the last year. We really enjoy the drunken noodles, basil fish, and crab fried rice. Quick, easy, and consistently good meal!
This used to be my favorite Thai place but the last couple of times I ate here the food tasted completely different and not in the good way. I had ordered drunken noodles and instead of their usual taste, the noodles tasted smokey. That's it. There was no flavor or anything. The prices increased alot and the portion sizes have gotten much smaller, to the point that there's barely noodles more veggies. I'm really saddened since it used to be a good spot.
This is a small Thai restaurant with excellent food. I got the pork and basil dish 5 star Thai hot. Unfortunately it was not very hot but it was still very tasty. I have had other items off their menu before and all have been very good. The Pad Thai was also pretty good. If you're looking for a Thai restaurant in Centreville this is one to try.
If this review was helpful to you, please give it a thumbs up!
Excellent lunch menu! Drunken noodles lunch special was amazing. The salad is spicy- be careful if you’re not accustomed to spicy food. It was perfect for me but way too spicy for my friend. Delicious food and consistent service. Will be back!
Excellent thai food. I have been a few times and the quality is always great.
I go here all the time for Thai! Everything is tasty and well prepared. I’ve been to a few neighboring Thai places and this one is the best. It is also super cute inside!
The food is very good.
I came in for lunch. Ordered Pad thai and tom yum soup (lemon grass soup). I tasted this weird taste in my pad thai that i couldn't finish it. I finished my lemon grass soup because it was in a small bowl. I dont know whats with the strange scent i kept picking up from the food or flavor. It made lose my appetite. Unfortunately i wouldn't be coming back here.
The lunch deals here are hard to beat. I come here on the weekdays and have always enjoyed a nice portion of pad thai with a side of tom yum soup and papaya salad for about $15
This is a good Thai restaurant. I've eaten here and got take out many times. I prefer the take out as it is rather small and tables are a premium at times. I have never been disappointed. They are my go to for Thai food.
Good food and pleasant service.
I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT!!! Their basil fried rice and drunken noodles are amazing, and they have so many vegetarian options. My friend thought her noodles were too spicy (even though they really weren’t), and the staff was so considerate and even offered to make a new one. 10/10 would recommend :)
Atmosphere is good as this is the first time we went and liked the quality of good ,as we had Sakoonthai fired rice its really yummy , customer service is good ..going to visit again.
Very good Thai food and really authentic tasting. The dine in is a bit small so just be aware of it may be crowded but the food is always great!
Really delicious food, I usually get there Pad See Ew chicken and Thai tea. Great prices and also dine in or out options. In strip mall but food and service Great quality
Fantastic Thai food at reasonable prices. Flavor competitive with places in Thailand. Would definitely visit again!
Love them!!
Charming atmosphere coupled with fantastic flavors made for a delightful experience.
Fast, friendly, and tasty! If you want good, family owned Thai food then this is it.
Totally Inedible. Awful.
Changing my previous rating of 4 stars to 5 stars. This business has managed to thrive through the pandemic by consistently making great and delicious food. My number one recommendation is still the drunken noodles with beef, but it may be a bit too spicy for people who can’t handle spice. Of course, you can ask them to make it a little less spicy, and they’ll always meet your standards.
Amazing food & Great service! Definitely my favorite Thai spot
It's easily my favorite restaurant! The family running it is extremely friendly, their food is the best thai I've had, and their duck is worth every penny! Northern Virginia and DC have a lot of Thai restaurants but none beat this.
This is one of our favorite go-to Thai spots! Fast, reliable with authentic and delicious Thai food. We love their duck roll, curry puffs, drunken noodle with beef, duck curry and pad Thai. They do a great job with everything!!
Very good food.
We always get chicken pad thai and beef massuman curry. Delish! Give them a try. No inside seating right now but takeout is quick and yummy.
The most amazing Thai joint and it's in Clifton of all places! They're family owned and always provide the best customer service.
Perfect the crab meat fried rice taste really good
Taste like part Chinese food, somehow it lost its Thai flare and flavor. Not sure why all the 4 and 5 stars, definitely have had better Thai. Rice wasn't even jasmin. Disappointed, thought it might have been the Sakoontra Thai near Costco that closed years ago, that was great, unfortunately not even close.
The high reviews kinda confuse me. This place is alright... Until you try the competition. Compared to other places, the portion sizing and taste don't quite match up. If there weren't so many Thai places in this part of NoVA, then maybe I'd go here... But as of now I think you should try other places! :/
Best Thai restaurant in the area!
I've ordered takeout from here plenty of times, and especially in 2020. The quality of the food does NOT suffer at all be it in person or take out. I definitely recommend the ka prow chicken! Absolutely fantastic.
Excellent service and always pleasant staff. The food is wonderful and each visit we try something new as we work our way through the menu. So far there isn’t anything that wasn’t very tasty. Love this little place and we are definitely becoming regulars.
Not good quality food. I didn't feel like im eating Thai food. I saw thier rating seems high...but i realized these are fake ratings.
This is my favorite Thai spot! Everything I’ve had has been delicious! Tastes just like all of the delicious food I ate in Thailand. And if you like spicy, like really spicy.. they will actually do it whereas some Thai places don’t think people can handle the heat 😂 Not to worry if you don’t like spicy, because there are plenty of not spicy options as well.
Tofu masman curry is delicious. Vegetarian fried spring rolls are also super yummy. And the staff was really kind. Highly recomend. Will be ordering from here again.
The Thai food here is really good and the portions are large. The people who own and run this are class individuals. Highly recommend it!
We are new to the area and Sakoonthai has quickly become one of our favorite restaurants! They go above and beyond for their customers, their food is always amazing, and it never has gone unnoticed. We couldn't be happier to support this local business.
Found a hair in my drunken noodles, unfortunately not until it was in my mouth! Management was hardly apologetic at all. Will never eat here again.
Good food, good vibe, nice portions and prices.
Really tasty! The drunken noodles were delicious. The server was nice and attentive. Only thing is their bathroom is really far at the end of a long hallway.
If you like Thai food then this is your spot. You will not be disappointed.
Me and my entire family had a great time eating here. The sakoonthai duck is fire! Delicious. We ordered 3 plates for the family. The coconut ice cream is the best I’ve ever had also.
Always great! The pad see eiw & red chicken curry are delicious. The portions are definetly worth the price and quality too. It's such a cute place to sit down with friends and family!
This place is the best. Almost as good as the Thai restaurant on Kabul International Airport (2011). The red curry is amazing, Thai tea is amazing, everything is fresh and full of flavor.
Don’t let the delivery area reviews fool you, it’s worth it even doing Grubhub or something. Don’t be lazy, eat Thai food.
Make reservations if you can, the place is tiny, but takeout is just as good. Well worth your time and money.
Visited for the first time and we loved the place. Small place but with good theme. I liked the wall which there have decorated. You can I’ll have a peaceful environment and happy mind. Coming to food no words tasty and delicious. Total recommended. Will come again if I visit Virginia. Go and experience yours.
Umm if you haven't already done so then GO HERE! The Prik Gleur is out of this world! We tried all three meats and I found shrimp to be the best for sure. The drunken noodles are super legit as well
The inside is nice and clean with an old bar style cherrywood design that feels inviting. The staff are nice and quick and they have a full selection drinks to add to your pallette. I came here during a business trip to DC based on a recommendation and was not disappointed!
Our favorite place for carry out.
We came to celebrate my friend's birthday. The interior is super cute and the dishes all have unique shapes. It was a perfect place for a birthday celebration and our waitress' assistance with a birthday surprise made it extra special. The food was absolutely delicious and service was very prompt. I would highly recommend it!
I order their Chicken Basil Kapow and Thai Iced Tea and both are GREAT!
Amazing food quality and customer service! wonderful service and they gave us free ice cream as a compliment!
Amazing food, Great staff, Classy presentation, and reasonable pricing. I am a contractor and travel of over Virginia. With that I get the opportunity to eat at many restaurants. Sakoonthai is by far the best and fresh Thai food I have ever had. If you don't live in the area I would recommend you take that drive.
Love the food!!
Excellent food and service. Highly recommended
Tasty desserts. I like that
Heavy on the sugar in the Tom yum. Papaya had too much sauce. Otherwise decent spot.
Excellent Thai food in a small family-run establishment. Very popular on weekend evenings.
If you’re ordering delivery, do NOT order from Door Dash. Order directly from Sakoonthai website and it’ll save you money and headache. Door Dash cancelled our order after waiting an hour for our food. We took a chance and reordered from Sakoonthai directly and our food was here in about 20 minutes. Hot, fresh, and yummy!
Really good local Thai. Our go to in western Fairfax.
Great Thai food great customer service
Great service! Some of the better Thai cuisine that I have had in the U.S. The Papia salad and beef salad were well dressed with just the right amount of spice. The Ka Pow Chicken was delicious.
