We’re severing authentic Thai dishes. We offer selections of papaya salads known as Som Tum.
The environment was nice, menu was easy to follow, and the food came out quickly. I definitely recommend the drunken noodles with shrimp. The initial server was super sweet and attentive. Our waitress was a little disconnected from us. I asked for water twice and it wasn’t until the male server that sat us walked by that we got a refill. She didn’t really seem too interested in assisting us during the visit so that was a little disappointing because the restaurant is great besides that. I’ll come back for the food any time though! Just might do take out instead.
Loved this place! Very well situated— about 10min walk from Crystal Gateway Marriott. Excellent atmosphere. Waiters are attentive but not over the top; straight to the point, yet kind, customer service, and I appreciate that, especially on business trips. Ordered the pork and crab dumplings as starter and fried tofu Pad Thai as main course, both finger licking good. Fresh ingredients and generous portions. Added veggie spring rolls to go, and was very surprised these are fried and not the traditional spring roll, but not a show stopper. I actually look forward to try them for dinner. Paid $35 for all three, including tip. Would recommend and will absolutely come back.
Our Thai friends introduced us to this restaurant, they see their food as real Thai Street food.
Me and my husband loving it, this is our third time at the Urban Thai restaurant. It’s located in a very nice street, the restaurant is a cute and cozy place to dine in, meanwhile, their food is great. Today we ordered to meals both were so delicious, me and my husband finished the whole plates.
We first ordered spring rolls, they were acceptable, we used to eat really super delicious spring rolls in other Thai places but this was acceptable.
My drink (homemade lemonade) was really good, a bit pricey but it was good. Although my husband’s drinks were a bit warm or not enough cold, the waitress was super nice tried to help but it seems all the drinks (beers) they had for tonight was not really cold.
Ordered take out from Urban thai for dinner this evening - food is pretty good. I ordered spicy string beans (kad prik ) and added tofu and broccoli. Dish is not as spicy and flavorful as other Thai restaurants. Rice was nice and fresh. I'd like to give them a try in person.
Very friendly staff! Convenient location and good food! It will be my go to when I’m in the Crystal City area.
The food tasted absolutely amazing, the drunken noodles were perfectly spicy, but matched the spice with equal amounts of flavor, service was quick and easy as well
Loved the ginger soup with mushroom dumplings. Service was attentive and friendly. Lots of veggie options!
Staff embarrassed me in front of my friend and asked us for more money in tips even though I already gave a tip. Will no longer return or recommend because of the way I was insulted publicly.
The food is not Thai at all.
5 of us ate dinner, and everything was delicious. Service was fantaztec. Prices are very reasonable love it...
Worst service!
Weirdest Thai food I’ve ever had. green curry with shrimps - except the curry itself had flavor, other ingredients were plain, just like those were pre-boiled by water without any seasoning. The PadThai was weird, bit smelly and too sweet. The restaurant is pretty clean and tidy, yet not much of service
Lived in Thailand for a number of years, and the tastes at this restaurant are 100 authentic.
I'm only halfway through this meal and starting this review because the food is so amazing. Ordered the Namtok Beef salad, which has this amazing tangy spicy rub/sauce with those genuine tiny peppers to start you sweating. IYKYK. My resistance has gone down in recent years so I had to mix most of it in with my Drunken Noodle order. I'm in capsaicin bliss.
Quaint little Thai food restaurant. I loved their Panang Curry Chicken, although it was a bit sweet. Drinks were good and not crowded even during the dinner rush.
Service was good and quick. Food had zero flavor. All four of us were unimpressed with the quality and taste.
Good food and service. I had the Urban Fried Rice and the Iced Thai Coffee.
Good food. Overpriced.
Warning, they charge 20% gratuity.
I had the yellow curry seafood. It was delish!
Nice restaurant on a street full of other restaurant cuisine . The waiter girl was very attentive and understood the instructions well. We all were vegetarian. The taste of the dishes like Pat-Thai, Soft-Tauphu with red curry, were pretty authentic in taste, we also ordered Somtaam, the papaya salad was not to my liking though. I lived in Thailand for 3 plus years, so I know the taste of the cuisine well. Food came to the table quite fast. All in all, it was a good experience. The servers were prompt and always had smile on their face. I will definitely go there again and family too.
Great food, quite authentic, friendly service, nice ambiance. Thank you
We tried the vegetarian summer garden , green curry today and it was really good . The staff members are all very nice and the decor is very welcoming . Definitely would recommend this place !
This is an excellent and authentic Thai restaurant. For those that know about Asian food, everything is cooked to perfection, made spicy on request and has just the right amount of fish sauce. The staff is attentive and they come to you when you get their attention. Please be aware this is not Panda Express, this place has flavor. I highly recommend this place and I really enjoyed my food.
I paid $18 for my meal. You don't get much, and it wasn't that flavorful. I won't be back.
Yummy 😋
Was ok not bad good prices
I ordered the most basic Thai dish [Pad Thai with chicken] and it was disgusting, super hungry walked 15 min to get there only to walk back to my hotel and find out I wasted my money. I also ordered veggie spring rolls which were just ok and a Thai tea with boba that tasted like it was made the day before, not fresh. Go somewhere else is not worth it at all.
One of the best Yellow Curry Seafood outside of Thailand
The food was amazing, authentic Thai in the USA that I can prove as a Thai person, staff were friendly and professional in the service. I will definitely be back! Highly recommend.
Food was great and the service even better!
Will definitely come back again.
The restaurant was busy. The food quality was terrible. We are from bay area and thi food is our go to food. We are very much disappointed with food quality. We had ordered Chicken Satay, Bourbon chicken and Penang curry with chicken and none of it was good. It was my suggestion to my family and I feel awful about it.
Whatever you do don't order here for to go or delivery. The chicken was dry in my thai fried rice as well as my rice was dry. The funny thing is when I go sit down and eat at the restaurant the food is top tier. The food shouldn't be different from dine in and delivery/ pickup
Food was terrible. Got the chicken Basil noodles and the panang curry with chicken. Both come with rice noodles which they don't let you substitute for steamed rice(which is the normal). The chicken in the curry had a weird texture...it was almost squeaky. Hardly any curry sauce which made the chicken dry especially served over rice noodles that did not soak up any sauce. Basil noodles were okay, far from one of the best in the area. Lunch prices are also higher than some much better thai options nearby. Not interested in coming back.
Gross. Just gross. Got the basil fried rice Thai hot. It was literally rice with soy sauce. There were like 3 pieces of chicken in the entire order. Even took it back and asked them to correct the spice level. They did nothing. Gave me a side cup of a weird red sauce (that also was not spicy). No good at all, threw it away.
This is my favorite kind of small restaurant amidst other options - competent and relaxed. We had ginger soup with mushroom dumplings and split drunken noodles with shrimp. Flavors were pronounced and delightful. Ginger broth was clear but not too strong, mushrooms a little more earthy than its dumpling shell. Drunken noodles had good subtle heat and a grilled smokiness in the garlic sauce that was satisfyingly unique. Service was attentive from a distance.
Not sure how the reviews are this high. I’ve had great Thai and so-so Thai and this falls into the so-so category. Had the Penang curry. Didn’t have the complexity or richness I’m used to. Seemed like a flavor you could get from a boxed curry mix. Enjoyed the chicken satay appetizer. Prices are fair and service is attentive.
Some of the food is great. But like some food really isn't (shout out to my steamed veggies with no seasoning)
Well lit and high-ceilinged Thai restaurant in an entertainment strip that carries deeply flavorful curries and other staples. The screen above the curving bar shows scenes of screen life in one of Thailand's bustling cities.
Gives a break from the bustle outdoors or you can enjoy the street-ballet from the front patio.
The staff were quick and attentive and helped me recover my backpack when I misplaced it.
Panang curry and Pad Thai are our favorites. We go there with our dog and we can sit outside where they have a few tables. Service is always good and prices are affordable. Highly recommended place.
Worst chicken Pad Thai I’ve ever had with only 3 pieces of chicken and the entire dish is the same color, white, including the veggies .. smh!
Great food, we had the krapow duck and red curry duck.
Best Panang Curry in town.
Very authentic Thai food.
Fantastic Pahnang Tofu with brown rice.
Probably the best Thai food I’ve ever had with an amazing atmosphere that was clean and cozy . The food was fresh and cooked to perfection. Service was superb as the staff were patient , polite and friendly. 10/10 I really recommend
Went for lunch, so got the lunch special..
Spicy Tso Shrimp.
Food was AMAZING! The meal was piping hot! Fresh! And filling even for a lunch portion!! The shrimp were huge! That is rare nowadays, as restaurants serve small shrimp and give you 5 haha.
Service was AMAZING! The staff were friendly and attentive. We were the only family in the restaurant at the time, so that helped.
I don’t reside in VA, so I’m unsure when I’d be back but I will definitely return!!!
Give this place a try!! If you don’t like the food, I’ll pay! (Just joking guys) Definitely give them a try!!
This place was lively (loud too) on a Tuesday night. The food was decent. The green papaya salad was ok. The shrimp on top was great. I got the Panang tofu and was amused that it literally had two pieces of vegetable. I think it was one piece of red pepper and one green. The sauce was a bit too sweet for my taste, but good, as was the tofu. The food came quickly, but the service was rather inattentive as my server was also making drinks from the bar. If I lived nearby, I’d come back to try other things as maybe I got them on an off night.
We came here with a group of 25+ from Atlanta, Ga. The food was delicious and all staff members were super nice! Very nice atmosphere.
Messed my my order three times in a row. But the food is very good.
Placed an order via the restaurants website, the ratings were decent over the last few weeks all shall be well. I ordered Drunken Noodles with vegetables and Urban Fired Rice w/ Shrimp (chk#38). I went home knowing that everything was fine. I got home and noticed beef in my Drunken Noodles with vegetables. Upon calling the restaurant they said that it was not possible, I went back to the restaurant showed the beef. They said they would make it again this time Drunken Noodles with vegetables was a smaller portion and full of tofu. I shared, that I ordered Drunken Noodles with vegetables not tofu. I was then asked why I do not eat tofu. I then asked for my money back and it took longer because I ordered the food online. The entire process was disappointing from having to prove that there was beef to waiting for a second version of my meal that was still not ready or what I ordered. I spent two hours from entering to pick up my order to driving back to wait for my corrected order that was still wrong. No sincere apology just a have smile and frustration that I would not eat the the meal with tofu.
Had a nice dining experience. I really liked the fact that Thai iced bubble tea wasn't super sweet. I really enjoyed the food. Quick and friendly service.
I tried the tofu pad see ew and it was amazing! Great flavor! The waitstaff was very kind and attentive!
I'm addicted to the fresh goodness of their food. This is the best Thai cuisine I've had locally.
Urban Thai in Crystal City! The authenticity of their Esarn Thai cuisine is a true gem, delivering a delightful taste experience. The Crispy Chicken Larb Rice stands out as a highly recommended dish, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to flavorful and authentic Thai delights. A must-visit for anyone craving genuine Thai cuisine!
Great place in Crystal City/Arlington for Thai food!
Is closed and boarded up.
This is the best Thai place I've found. Service is great, food is fantastic, and the prices are very reasonable for Crystal City.
Excellent food and Customer Service. The waitress was very friendly and always had a beautiful smile on her face. Wish I could have gotten her name.
Tom yum soup was on point, Pad Thai is perfect too, I was too full but had to order a to-go desert because I’m also a big advocate of mango sticky rice. The place is lovely with very Thai-ish decorates and music. The prices are reasonable compared to where I’m from(yes, I’m from the Bay Area) my stomach and I are very happy.
Thai food is my favorite, and I'm really not that picky-- I've been to so many different places, and only twice have I been disappointed. This was the third.
The papaya salad was different than any I've had before-- in looks and lack of flavor. But the shrimp on it was really good. I tend to pick from items on any menu that indicate spiciness. The dish I chose had 3 flames, but came out mild. I never expect food in the US to be super spicy, but NO HEAT with 3 flames is ridiculous. Then 2/3 of my bowl was rice-- another first from a Thai place. (I also think they used white pepper, which is how I think feet would taste, but I don't blame them for this; it just added to my dissatisfying meal.) My friend liked her meal though.
The service was pretty good. Our server was attentive. But the music was so loud, my friend and I had to yell at each other like we were in a bar.
I only write this because the 4.4 stars is what brought me here, and I ended up being very disappointed.
Very friendly staff, great food, wonderful experience. I brought in a party of 14, they handled the large group with no problems at all. Some were new to thai food, staff helped them pick non-spicey dishes, everyone really enjoyed the dinner.
Their Thai food is really good and I used to live in Thailand for a couple of years.
See the Thai menu I've uploaded.
Awesome neighborhood Thai restaurant. Great food but a small menu. Owners and staff are fantastic. Had a minor blip with my order tonight but after a quick call, they fixed the issue. My family loves this place and we’ve been customers here for over 10years.
Food was very good. Loved the green curry. Not a large selection of beer.
I tried 4 different dishes here and they were all delicious. The service was friendly and attentive. The prices were lower than what I'm used to around here. I will be back.
Best Thai I’ve had in DC! Stopped by before a flight out of DCA and was not disappointed! Incredible take on pad Thai and red curry
Got veggie rolls with peanut sauce to start. My first time trying, it was real good w the sauce. Got shrimp pad thai, and he got the glazed salmon & rice. Very cozy atmosphere on the first snow of the winter! The service was great, all the waitresses are mad friendly.
Don’t want to forget this experience ❤️🔥
Excellent food, great service.
Had lunch with appetizers. The entrees were freshly done, flavorful, with just the right amount of spice as requested.
Quick and delicious
The food was amazing and great service. Decided to branch out and try the dessert. Had the mango and sticky rice. The mango was sweet and a great pairing with the rice. Glad I gave it a try.
They've changed up the interior and it looks really nice. The staff is extremely attentive. We love visiting here!
A surprisingly good place with excellent service and much better than expected food. I had the seafood spagetti. This place knows how to cook seafood without overcooking it. The spices on the mussels was great and the scallops and squid was well cooked. The shrimp was fine. The suprising star was the spagetti sause — a little spcey, not tomato. We also had the tofu amd pork bun (dim sun) appitisers that were well above normal. My wife objected to a chemical smell on the inside so we ate on the poarch.
What a delightful surprise! This place was clean, well lit, had superb service, and the food! Omgosh, some of the best Thai food that I've had the immense pleasure of eating! Will definitely remember this place and visit next time I am in the DC area.
The foods tasty but I've definitely had better Thai food. The service was slow.
Our Thai friends introduced us to this restaurant, they see their food as real Thai Street food.

Food was amazing. Only had the grilled shrimp papaya salad and pork & crab dumpling, but they were both really good. And the the drinks were amazing as well. Tried the margarita and the pain killer. Servers were great.
Great spot loved the atmosphere. Will definitely go back to try other things on the menu.
Very happy with our experience
Idk what the locals are raving about.
Cashew chicken was too sweet.
Thai Hot spicy request was barely mild.
Prices as expected for location.
Patio seating best part.
Waiters undertrained.
Will not be returning.
The staff was friendly, food ready on time, but the dish was very, very bland. Nothing more than dry noodles.
A solid Thai place with friendly service. I had the green curry with chicken and it was great. Flavourful, properly spicy and creamy. I'll certainly return for more...
This place is great! Excellent food!
The food was excellent. If you don't mind waiting too long and having to tell to carry on a conversation.... the atmosphere and service are equally compelling.
Best Thai that my wife and I have ever had! Services was great, servers were very nice, and food was delivered to the table very quickly. Highly recommended!
Loved this place! Very well situated— about 10min walk from Crystal Gateway Marriott. Excellent atmosphere. Waiters are attentive but not over the top; straight to the point, yet kind, customer service, and I appreciate that, especially on business trips. Urban Thai is one of my favorite Thai restaurants, introduced to me by a colleague. It's centrally located, so parking can be tough, but it is worth it. The flavors are rich and dynamic, both for dinner and dessert. You can take things as spicy as you like here, so get adventurous. The service here is solid, don't be afraid to ask what they might recommend. This is a great spot for a casual dinner date, happy hour with friends, or family night out.
Ordered the papaya salad with tofu “Thai hot”, and mushroom dumpling soup. 💚 AMAZING! Lovely authentic Thai. 🙏🏼
To Go: I ordered the Drunken Noodle with seafood and the Shrimp Papaya salad. The Drunken Noodle was perfect! Great flavor, perfectly cooked seafood, yummy veggies. I unfortunately can’t say the same about my Shrimp Papaya salad. Was pretty disappointed in that. Not bursting with flavor “at all” but it was fresh tasting.
I went with some colleagues during a lunch outing, and the food was actually quite delicious. I started with veggie rolls, which were fried, and the drunken noodles were wonderful! You have to add your choice of meat to the noodles. I also tried their bubble ice tea, which tasted a little chocolate-e to me, but was not nasty. Small place, I gave 4 stars only because we went during the lunch hour and there were only 2 people running the front. Also, the apple pay was down.
Food was okay but not as great as people are posting in reviews. Tom Kha Gai was too watery and chicken was rubbery. Flavor was not too bad though. At least it had one piece of lemon grass and galangal in it. You can always judge a place by their Tom Kha Gai. Red curry duck was pretty good with bamboo shoots and pineapple. Rice was very cheap. Portion sizes were good.
Read too late that there’s a special menu for Thai people. Why not just make all the food good?
Rather annoyed that lunch specials are almost same price as dinner special…but portion is a fraction of the size. What’s the point of lunch special???
The food is always good here!
This is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in the DC area, and so we were excited to go back on a recent visit to DC. The food overall was very good, but it wasn't my best experience at this restaurants. As a note, they have two menus, one is more authentic Thai food (and is geared towards their Thai patrons), but you have to ask for it if you are not Thai which I find a little annoying. The somtum (papaya salad) was also not super authentic on that day - you can see from the photo that they didn't shred the papaya enough, and I am not even sure if they used the right papaya. Service as a little lackluster as well on this visit, we had to ask twice for the drinks we ordered, and while a second server who sort of took over was very nice, the initial server who seated us and took our order seemed uninterested. Overall though the food is very good here, and if you like authentic Thai food be sure to ask for the Thai menu. I will definitely go again, but hopefully it will be as good as my past experiences next time. 4/5
Quick lunch provided with great service and a good price. Excellent vegetarian options and ensuring safety with my shellfish allergy. The food was hot and fresh and the Thai tea just the right amount of sweet and creamy.
Decent Pad Thai but nothing special.
Overall.i would recommend for a neighborhood thai joint when getting good thia is the mission. Atmosphere is kinda stale but if you sit outside it's nice. Kinda abnoxius gay bar next door but you can't choose neighbors..
Great little spot to grab Thai food in Crystal City. Great options for dinner, but very limited beer selection, although the house drinks and teas looked delicious! Great flavor and not over done with sauce. Perfect to fill a Thai craving, and walking distance to hotels.
Very busy when we went. Had to ask to get service after we sat there for a while. Lots of dishes with fish/oyster sauce. We are vegetarians and so we noticed the seafood smell and inquired if they can make dishes without that sauce. Drunken noodles were great but rest of the two curry dishes were less than mediocre. Will probably not return. Maybe it’s a good place if you like seafood.
Good food, nice service, nice place. The people here even asked if I was allergic to peanuts so they care about my health
It is one of the best Thai restaurants in this area.
I had a party with international friends today, everyone was so happy.
Great variety, solid service, decent prices.
Currently living in a hotel due to work - I absolutely love the food and people! Always so friendly and helpful!
Love the staff, food, and location!
I love a good peanut sauce and this spot hits right every time. The staff are super nice and make you feel welcomed. Awesome spot for lunch or dinner.
Servers are very kind and nice. Foods are delicious! Love this place! Best Thai food restaurant.
The food was great and I did not feel rushed. Would visit again.
What a disappointed
I am not person who left over food
But i did
So that’s why they did not have any asian customer even though it’s Thai restaurant
Good food, very busy, seemed clean. I enjoyed my food. it just seemed the wait staff did not listen to my order. Had to ask for spring rolls three times, and I received them after my meal arrived. Overall, my food, lemongrass tea, and fellowship were all good. I would recommend this place, and I will go back. I just want the waitress to tighten up and 5 stars.
Delicious food. Good prices, tasty drinks and a fair price. What more do u need in a place??
Excellent everything, very kind server's and the food was delicious. I had the calamari for an appetizer and the drunken noodles with beef for entree and both were delicious. Just a short walk up the road from the metro too so if your in the area I suggest you give it a try!
Place was great, clean. Staff was awesome, constantly moving to ensure all were doing well. Pad Thai was a bit bland, lacking any sort of sauce (bowl of very dry noodles). But the Drunken Noodles were excellent. If you're a spice fan, select at least one heat level more than you would normally do. Definitely worth giving it a try again.
The food and drinks are great!
The vibe of the place is cozy, clean and chill.
I like that they don’t play annoying pop music in the restaurant. Instead they have nice chill, piano/jazz music that really sets the vibe.
The staff is very friendly and do a great job making sure customers are happy.
Everything about this place is excellent.
Only thing I would critique is their cocktails.
Their cocktails taste great, however I wonder if the cocktails I ordered were really cocktails.
A beer is stronger than their cocktails.
Other than that, everything about this place is awesome. I will be back.
It was our first time at Urban Thai and were not disappointed. I ordered from the traditional Thai Menu and was suggested the Tom Zabb soup. It was divine. Full of flavors. Spicy enough, sour to perfection. It was accompanied by a cup of rice to drench with the broth. Others on my party had Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, lemonade (homemade) and boba tea! The staff was incredibly attentive and at our service and the owners made their rounds through the tables often. It was a delight! We will go back.
First time going to this restaurant in Arlington, VA. It is about a 14 min walk from the Residence Inn by Marriott. The atmosphere was very inviting.
I ended up ordering the Bourbon Grilled Chicken and it was wonderful. When it arrived as you can see from the picture was quite a bit of food which surprised me. The papaya salad (which I never had before) was excellent. It was refreshing to eat. I highly recommend.
They even have a sitting area that is outside but covered and heated.
Very good Thai food. Small space but nicely done.
Drinks, noodles, and curry were great
