This place smells bad, the back parking lot has rats and the construction in the front makes going here a pain. The food is terrible and they don’t have anything special on the menu. Oh and their parking lot is ridiculous, if you park there, you will get towed so quick. Plenty of places around for you to try. Don’t go here.

Diner Review №2

It be customers family friends ppl like it here

Diner Review №3

Got yummy pad Thai from here! Very friendly staff

Diner Review №4

Hate to do this but last night we found a HUGE black charred bee that was served with our fried duck. By the way bees are not in season. At first we thought it was a roach. Disgusting! Be careful. Management apologized, we did not pay for our meal and left. It should have been caught and never should have been there. We did not finish our meals. Still waiting to make sure no one got sick.

I ate there and when I left my car was towed.

Diner Review №9

Was sick for days after eating here

Diner Review №10

Ive been here 4x and each time it smells poorly but I figured its me just not being used to certain sauces. I would just say there have been times the food doesn’t dictate the food taste but I’m not sure it’s worth it. I’ve had veggie rolls, noodles and drinks: don’t come here.

Diner Review №11

Food was little salty for me, but looked great.
The service was very good and the plawas beat and comfy. Would recommend it.

Diner Review №12

WARNING YOU WILL GET TOWED !!!! Their parking lot is central to a ton of other stores and restaurants with very very limited signage indicating that the lot is private. I parked here for like 15 mins not knowing this and they towed my car. Never in my life had I seen towing work that quickly, especially when outside of the businesses working hours. Seemed petty. I’ve been here for food before too and it’s underwhelming at best. So there’s 0 reason to go here.

Diner Review №13

My absolute favorite Thai restaurant in northern VA! It’s my go-to place and my first recommendation to friends or visitors looking for great Thai food! My family and I have been coming here for years and we love it! The Moo Krob, Fiery Kaprao (W/ Chicken), Drunken Noodles, Spicy Duck, and Mango & Sticky Rice are our favorites!

Diner Review №14

Horrible restaurant, food and service have gone down hill. Ownership and management are rude. Everything about this place has gone downhill.

Diner Review №15

First time here. Everything came out hot and tasty.

Diner Review №16

Some of the best Thai in the area. I love their happy hour. The first place I tried duck wraps and no one makes it as well!! Yum 😋

Diner Review №22

misleading pictures on toast order site. we've ordered here before and have always been happy. but today, we ordered some garlic snow peas, which came without any chicken. i checked and yeah, the listing doesn't explicitly say there's chicken, but the picture for the meal has chicken with the snow peas, and where you can add protein it says you can add extra chicken. so we assumed there was chicken. for 12 dollars, getting just snow peas and mushrooms was a let down. when we called they were nice but didn't help us at all.

i get technically we were wrong, but the site shouldnt show chicken if its not part of the meal. that's super misleading.

Diner Review №23

Highly recommend this restaurant. I have been come here for over a year and it always my first choice whenever i decide to eat outside

Diner Review №24

I’ve dined in before but more often get it delivered. I always get fried rice and sometimes an appetizer. I come back because the overall flavor here is better than the other Thai restaurants I’ve tried in the area, but my ongoing gripe is the lackluster spice.

I pick Thai spicy everytime and the meal I get is at best mild. I don’t know what it is, but I’ve yet to have Thai food in the DMV that is actually spicy! I beg, if I select the hottest level and add a note asking to up the spice, please make my food painfully hot.

Diner Review №25

Bought take out while there for a function. Service is spot on, but my dish was good but not great. Bought take out, which was much better so it could just be my selection.

Diner Review №26

This is an amazing Thai restaurant. I periodically get takeout from here and have even eaten inside a few times. The servers are usually very polite and helpful, the restaurant decor is very pretty and authentic and the food is simply delicious. I particularly recommend the Green Curry and Drunken Noodles. However keep your spice tolerance in mind when coming here. The heat here is not messing around and unless you have an insanely high spice tolerance, order it at a medium or mild. Don’t think that because you like Hot Cheetos means you can handle this food at full, Fires Of Hell Spice. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
But other than that I fully, 100% recommend this place if you like Thai food or even if you’re just curious about it.

Diner Review №27

Service and ambience are decent, the main reason for a lower rating on the food is due to a good number of dishes in the separate “Vegetarian” column all have fish sauce in them, including both Green and Red curries, and they are pre-mixed, so they can’t do anything about them.

This is beyond stupid. If you don’t know that fish sauce doesn’t belong in anything listed as Vegetarian, you shouldn’t be running a restaurant. Most Thai restaurants have cracked this code, so it is not rocket science.

This place will stay off my list until the lazy owners of this joint figure this out. We also noticed a seedy bar joint has opened next door with the smell of weed permeating for over a block and people loitering outside, makes this less than an ideal location to walk to.

Diner Review №28

I visited this restaurant with my family a while back and we enjoyed the Thai dishes they served. The food was freshly cooked and tasted delicious. The service was good and the restaurant was decorated with Thai traditional artifacts that created an inviting atmosphere. Overall, we left feeling satisfied with our dining experience.

Diner Review №29

I'm absolutely disgusted with this place. I ate dinner with the family here and parked in their parking lot. Went to a show afterwards and came back to my car gone. They had my car towed after they closed. Who does that? Why do they care who's parked there after they close? Keep in mind, when I parked there I didn't see the faded sign talking about towing and even if I did I wouldn't think they'd tow my car for parking at the place I'm eating. Now my $70K car vibrates and the towing place damaged my bumper. How is eating at a this restaurant worth paying $185 to pickup my car and having it damaged. Never again and I will strongly recommend others to never go there. This is just such poor practice of a restaurant it astounds me.

Diner Review №30

Really nice restaurant. Staff is super nice and food didn’t take long to come out. When I go to thai restaurants, i usually order pad thai but this pad thai did taste that great to me. my waitress was really nice and let me choose another dish. i chose the yellow curry with tofu because i don’t eat meat but i was told that the yellow curry comes premade with chicken and they couldn’t substitute it. that kind of sucked because most thai restaurants can substitute and i really wanted the yellow curry. but the green curry allowed me to substitute with tofu so that’s what i had. it was pretty good.

Diner Review №31

Great Thai place if you want original Thai product. Good food, good product from thailand worth the drive.

Diner Review №33

Diner Review №34

First time coming here. It was a great experience. We didn't realize there were 2 sides but came in on the bar side. Sho was our server. She was very informative and listened to us on allergies and dishes. Whene we first got there we were greeted and we came a bit earlier than our reservation but called a head and they said it was OK to come in. The table we were going to be seated at floor was dirty. They cleaned it up with no problems. My party enjoyed their food and we had a pleasant birthday dinner. They sang and presented my partner with a lava brownie with ice-cream. The red curry was very spicy. The lava brownie cake thing was faaaantastic! I'd take some home with me.The bathroom was clean. To improve I would update the decor( as in I wasn't like wow let me take a picture) and make sure the area people are sitting are cleaned prior top and bottom. Overall had a pleasant time and would come again! Thank you!

Diner Review №35

Found hair in my food and there was bugs in the bathroom. Won’t be visiting again

Our go to Thai restaurant. It's been in business for over 30 years for a reason! Delicious food, friendly service, fair prices.

Diner Review №39

As a Thai American and a certified chef, this place have been serving this neighborhood and Arlington County for over 30 years! The food, the service, the atmosphere, and very friendly and welcoming staff is 1000% the best in town! It is one Mt go to place when I needed that authentic Thai taste!

Diner Review №40

Bangkok 54 is hands down the best Thai restaurant in Arlington. As a huge fan of Thai food, I've tried many places, but none compare to the quality and flavor here. Their delivery game is on lock – everything arrives crispy and HOT, which is truly impressive. Whether dining in or ordering out, Bangkok 54 consistently delivers a top-notch experience. Highly recommend!

Diner Review №41

Rude customer service & undercooked food

Diner Review №42

Restaurant has rats and food was disgusting, I wouldn't feed it to my dog. Avoid restaurant at all costs.

Diner Review №46

Ordered hot wok cashew nut with chicken and drunken nodules Jae. The hot wok cashew nut was drowning in fish sauce/very fishy taste which I didn’t like (2/5). Spouse tried their drunken noodle Jae which he said was decent taste-wise but barely had any Tofu in it (had lots of other veggies) (3/5).
Ambiance was quite good and the staff is friendly but the food isn’t that great.

Diner Review №47

Great Thai food! Service was perfect. I really liked this place. I'll definitely go back.

Diner Review №48

Absolutely delicious food. We got the spicy eggplant with tofu and cashew chicken. Lots of veggie options !

Diner Review №49

We ordered chilli basil fried rice and bangkok curry fried rice. Both were good. Chili basil fried rice is a bit spicy.

Diner Review №50

I recently visited Bangkok with high hopes, given its good reviews and inviting ambiance. Unfortunately, my experience fell short of expectations. The food was overly salty, making it difficult to enjoy the natural flavors of the dishes or even tell the freshness. Especially considering the price.

Diner Review №51

Overall pretty good. But a bit disappointed the server didn’t tell us there was no lunch specials for Juneteenth. Only told us after we ordered everything was full price even though we ordered pointing to the lunch special menu.

The basil fried rice was very flavorful and cooked well. But I think it could’ve used more garlic.

The pad se ew tasted very starchy for me. I don’t think it was cooked well.

$40 for lunch is a bit too pricey for me for only entrees.

Diner Review №52

Diner Review №53

Fantastic food! Generous portion sizes. A reliable and great spot for great Thai food!

Diner Review №54

Good food, dessert were amazing. Bua Loi was “squarely” spot on.
Esan combo is a good mix

Diner Review №55

Good service

Diner Review №56

Ordered the pork fried rice and they gave me chicken and told me it was pork. I will not order it again.

Diner Review №57

The restaurant and the little shop are both great! I love their take-home drunken noodle kits :)

Diner Review №58

Bangkok 54 never disappoints! Every time I'm in the Arlington area, I make sure to dine here. The food is consistently delicious, with rich flavors that make every dish a delight. If you like spicy, order spice level "Thai hot". The staff is attentive and always ensures a great dining experience. Highly recommend Bangkok 54 for anyone seeking fantastic Thai cuisine!

Diner Review №59

Diner Review №60

Good place for Thai foods.

Diner Review №61

Diner Review №62

I am so disappointed at this place, been eating at the restaurant for so many years, but won’t be stepping there no more, I was charge 20% tips for 4 adults and two small kids, when asked the waiters why, she told me because we are a large group, it’s not the tip amount, because we are good at tipping, but how they going to tell me we are a large group with a baby and a small girl!! 😡

Diner Review №63

My first time here. My mom told me that I need to try this restaurant because you can taste the wok heat in the noodles. She is right. Beef drunken noodles was excellent. Will come back to try other dishes.

Came back 2nd time for beef drunken noodles. This dish is definitely one of the best tasting drunken noodles in this area.

Diner Review №64

Diner Review №65

The place was nice, but the food was very oily, and the service was slow and strict. I asked for broccoli instead of rice with my meal and even offered to pay extra, but the server refused.
The place didn’t feel that clean! The bathroom floor was wet and not clean!
Unfortunately, we didn’t not enjoy the vibe that much! We couldn’t even finish our food!

Diner Review №66

Stopped in before a show with friends located next door, food was fine nothing special if anything a bit greasy.

As we were paying customers we were under the impression we could leave our car in the restaurant parking lot, we were wrong. The show ended about an hour after closing and our car was towed what seems like almost immediately.

They are doing some sort of shady predatory business with the towing company, so steer clear of this place unless you want to end up with an additional $250 bill and no ride home.

Diner Review №67

Food was average but saw a cockroach - gross! went to a show nearby and left our car in the parking lot only to come back and find it towed less than an hour after the restaurant closed! $215 to get it back. Total scam…Great way to treat customers!

Diner Review №68

Terrible experience the customer service is very bad and the food was tasteless.

Diner Review №69

Absolutely disgusting place!!!

Diner Review №70

Diner Review №71

Diner Review №72

Diner Review №73

Bangkok 54 is a great place for an authentic Thai meal. The flavors are deep and nuanced. The curry puffs with pickled cucumbers were excellent. I ordered the catfish curry and was told it was medium spicy but it was QUITE hot, so much so that my stomach was burning for a while later. It was so delicious but I had to slow down my consumption. Definitely recommend!

Diner Review №74

Yummy Thai Food. Mock Duck is Best

Diner Review №75

Always fresh food with fat service. Probs are small for the price, so if you're not a big eater this shouldn't be an issue. For me I typically order the mock stick with an appetizer which sets you back around $30+

Diner Review №76

Diner Review №77

A delightful culinary experience offering a wide array of flavors, complemented by attentive service and a welcoming ambiance.

Diner Review №78

Big fan of the Thai Basil Chicken. The fresh, tender, tangy combo hits the spot. Nothing fancy or over top, but the food is good.

Diner Review №79

My go-to Thai restaurant in the area. Wonderful service and delicious food.

Diner Review №80

Consistently tasty. Golden Chicken is a favorite for parents and children in our house.

Diner Review №81

Enjoyed all appetizers' dumplings. Spring rolls the sauce that comes with both are very delicious, not just salty soy. The curries are amazing. The server constantly has our water glasses full. In fact, never got less then half full until she refilled.

Diner Review №82

Diner Review №83

This has been our once a week, go-to place for Thai food take-away for over a decade. Unfortunately, over the last few months, the food quality has not been what it once was. My favorite, the fried rice, has been consistently gummy and mushy the last few months. Very disappointing. Please do better, Bangkok 54!

Diner Review №84

Our family has been coming here for last 20 years. Great service and great food. Great prices. We went here for Easter. Ordered drinks, many appetizers and many entrees for 11 people. I did not take photos of all the appetizers and entrees. With tip it was $308. It's better to dine in smaller restaurants and mom and pop places like this than corporate chain restaurants. See my review for the exceptionally LOUSY Cheesecake Factory in Tysons. The meal was for $80 (including $5 tip) for lousy food and lousy service. I don't usually eat at chain restaurants but have gone to CF maybe once a year or every other year.

Support local family owned restaurants like Bangkok 54!

Diner Review №85

Variety of Thai foods and ingredients. They have small section serving Thai foods with limited menus

Diner Review №86

Bangkok 54 restaurant offers a dining experience that excels in several key areas. The ambiance sets a welcoming tone from the moment you arrive. Throughout my visit, the staff exhibited genuine sincerity and politeness, ensuring that every aspect of the dining experience was attended to with care.

While most offerings impressed with their flavor and presentation, I encountered a slight disappointment with the fried tofu, which carried a faint seafood scent that may not suit all palates, particularly those avoiding meat. However, this minor flaw was overshadowed by the restaurant's overall strengths.

Diner Review №87

The food is mediocre. I would right more but they towed me while I was in the restaurant.

Diner Review №88

The food at the restaurant is very Americanized and not at all authentic.
Do your tastebuds a favor and just skip it and just go next door to the market! They have a grab & go section of ready-made food that tastes way better. They also have a noodle cafe next door, but the hours are limited.

Diner Review №89

During my last visit to your restaurant for a pickup order, I specifically requested two Thai teas without ice, anticipating my drive back to Columbia and hoping to avoid diluting the drinks. Upon collecting my order, I noticed the drink cups were slightly more than half full. Concerned, I inquired about this with the server, puzzled by the decision not to fill the cups completely. The server informed me that the absence of ice was the reason for the underfill but offered to top them off. However, to my dismay, he merely added water to both drinks. This adjustment completely compromised the flavor of the tea, leading to the exact watery outcome I had intended to avoid by requesting no ice. Given that each drink cost around $4, the solution to fill them with water instead of offering a full serving was both disappointing and inconsiderate. This experience, coupled with the restaurant's premium pricing and lackluster service, has led me to decide against returning. I had previously enjoyed visiting your establishment when in the area, but I now feel compelled to seek out other places that better appreciate and value their customers.

Diner Review №90

Everything was great and nice! Walked in on a Friday night and was seated immediately. Water arrived as we sat at that was impressive. Chicken meatballs for an appetizer, hot and coated with a crunchy batter. My wife got drunken noodles with beef, and it was a large portion of both! I got the fried chili pork belly, which was a lot of crunchy fried pork belly bits mixed with peppers and the like, really good.

Diner Review №91

We tried Bangkok 54 today for lunch and ordered spicy cashew chicken and basil chicken. We got them both at the spicy level which wasn’t that spicy but still good. We preferred the cashew chicken over the basil chicken. We ordered over the phone and our order was ready within 15 mins. They also have a small Asian market next door where we got some snacks!

Diner Review №92

So our favorite place got even better! How? We love their cook at home kits! Pad sew ew and drunken noodle.

Diner Review №93

I usually have the vegan Peking duck. It’s usually pretty good but the sauce has become very salty now. Wish that would become better so the taste actually comes through.

Diner Review №94

Food was alright. I did not like how they treated my wife. Very rude behavior.

Diner Review №95

Once and never again!
The restaurant is easy to find using Google Maps. There is plenty of free parking in front of the restaurant. From the outside, the restaurant makes a very well-kept and modern impression, which can also be said about the ambience inside. When we went into the restaurant, there was an employee who greeted us in a friendly manner. All the other employees just stared at us without saying a word. Some employees gave us an arrogant look several times instead of greeting us in a friendly manner. You just feel uncomfortable. The food came out of the kitchen quickly and tasted okay. There were problems when paying. The employee had mixed up some dishes, but we were willing to clarify. The employee was not prepared to do this. She spoke to my husband in a language I don't understand and then made him pay. It couldn't be more disrespectful.
I wouldn't recommend the restaurant to anyone.

Diner Review №96

Recommend the fried fish.

Diner Review №97

And the owner was so sweet!

Diner Review №103

Always have what I needed, Thank you!

Diner Review №104

Bangkok 54 is one of my favorites Thai restaurant. It's been around for a long time for a good reason - delicious food.

For the first time, we visited for lunch. The restaurant looks great. When you walk in, the kitchen is on the left, and you can see fresh fruit and fun art all along the glasses in area.

Appetizer? Vege spring rolls of course. Crispy and served very hot.

I went for the classic - bim bam bop, with chicken. Enormous serving, enough to take some home. And perfectly cooked, with that wonderful sauce, and a beautiful plating.

My friend had a classic too. Yellow curry with toasted tofu and veges. No leftovers from that one.

Service took a bit longer, because of few waiters. And parking can really be difficult in that Columbia Pike area.

But always worth it.

Diner Review №105

Diner Review №106

I was really disappointed that the crispy fried whole flounder was overcooked and dry. The only good part was the chili, garlic and basil sauce. The crispy squid with basil and golden chicken were ok. I think the squid dish is better at Thai Square. I’ll go back to try other dishes, but won’t be paying market price for over-fried fish again.

Diner Review №107

So, so sad to write this honest review on what I've considered my favorite Thai place for more than 2 decades!
I've celebrated birthdays here, met a bunch of friends, shared food, laughter and made memories here, too. Unfortunately, that changed a few years ago when a rat (yes a big rat) ran through the restaurant under the tables while a friend and I ate there!!! I took a break from the place for some years (plus I had moved to another state) but I went back because honestly I like their food.
Last January I took my sister there for her birthday and the service was bad and we saw a roach crawling on the wall 😩😩😩
Forward to some months later I did takeout and today did takeout again. The service is worse and no matter how much I like their food it isn't even the same quality anymore. It's time that I seriously hunt for a replacement.
Bangkok used to be much much better than it is now. Sad truth!

Forgot to take photos before finishing my soup.

Absolutely fantastic! Quick service! Spice was just right! Highly recommended!!!

Diner Review №115

The food here tasted fine, but my main objection is the clearly marked “vegetarian menu” and “เจ“ dishes are not actually vegetarian but contain fish sauce. We traveled a bit of distance to come here and get vegetarian dishes but about half the selections (including all the curries) contained fish. Otherwise the food was fine, but if you are vegetarian and don’t eat fish, you should keep this in mind.

Diner Review №116

Diner Review №117

Perfectly delicious and deliciously perfect!

Diner Review №118

Literally had a roach in my food. Ownership was not very helpful. Was five stars before but after this I'll never go back. Spent the night sick.

Diner Review №119

The food is just ok, nothing to write home about. The real problem is the owner calls advanced towing on the parking lot. I’ve seen them there multiple nights and I’ve seen multiple people get towed who were coming out of that restaurant. I’m not sure if he gets a cut or why he’s so tow truck happy but he stands outside and watches. There are better options on Columbia Pike that aren’t going to get you towed

Diner Review №120

Great food, horrible about towing.

Diner Review №121

Diner Review №122

Food is mediocre at best. Worst service ever.

Diner Review №123

I have been going to this restaurant for years. Today we went to celebrate my brothers birthday and were rudely met with a “cake cutting fee.” Very dissatisfied with service. I won’t be returning.

Been ordering take out from them for the last 7 years and just realised to write a review. I love their food and their delivery service. Crisy fried pork, pad see ew with beef and occanional fried rice with crab, always recommended and always ordered. Love their consistency on food and their friendly delivery drivers. Don’t sleep on the market food adjacent to the restaurant as well.

Diner Review №133

Food was good, but the menu has changed, ask about the food preparation to avoid surprises.

Diner Review №134

Diner Review №135

Every dish was too sweet, too much sugar in the food that masked the savory taste even with the common Thai food dishes panang, pad Thai. It lacks of an authentic Thai food. It’s very Asian fusion, it has Chinese food, sushi on the menu. I would not recommend this place if you want to try an authentic Thai food.

Diner Review №150

This is a great Thai restaurant

Diner Review №151

The food is AMAZING, probably my favorite Thai restaurant in the DMV but we’ve started only coming once a year because the service is just awful. The wait staff and bussers are incredibly unfriendly but the worst part is they turn off the music and turn on the lights way before closing time which ruins the atmosphere. Every time we go we get rushed out of the restaurant and treated like a nuisance which completely ruins the dining experience.

Diner Review №152

Friendly service, always good food

Diner Review №153

Friendly service but the food was mediocre and small in proportion. Drunken noodles were tasty. Other dishes didn't taste like typical Thai food and were not refined.

Diner Review №154

Highly recommended!

Diner Review №155

outstanding food, very nice ambience, and a heck of a mai tai if that’s what you are in the mood for.

Diner Review №156

Food was great. We ordered vegetarian dishes and all where great. Panag curry was the best.

Diner Review №157

Bangkok is my favorite Thai place in the area. They serve amazing food with a great atmosphere and pleasant service. Specially for vegan and vegetarian eaters, there are many great flavorful options to choose from. I have been there during the day and night and each time the vibe is amazing.

Diner Review №158

My native Thai dining companion says that it was all fantastic, although the satay was a little dry. Which is a damn fine endorsement. Oddly, wasn't as spicy as I'd hoped for, but that's often a local adaptation. Overall, very nice. The mango sweet sticky rice was fantastic. Who am I kidding? I'd drive here again to eat and grab some food to go from the adjoining market. If you like authentic Thai, then it's the real deal.

Diner Review №159

This is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in the DC area. It is attached to a Thai market as well, so before or after your meal if you want to grab some Asian food products, as well as premade Thai dishes to go you can. I had the kra pao gai (basil chicken) minced Thai style with a fried egg on top. The flavors were reminiscent of BKK, and were exactly what my soul was craving. There were actually 4 adults and two kids, but unfortunately I wasn't able to get photos of all the food. However, one of my dining companions ordered a vegetarian Penang curry (pictured) and said it was delicious as well. One of my favorite Thai restaurants and a must try for anyone in the DC area.

Diner Review №160

My favorite Thai restaurant and I've been to several in our area. Never too busy and service is always friendly. Food....5 stars. Options including vegetarian are plentiful. Always recommend

Diner Review №161

Pretty authentic. The spicy food is indeed spicy, much spicier than typical spicy food in US. Make sure you can handle it before ordering.

Diner Review №162

This was my Favorite Thai restaurant for years. I had turned a co-worker on to it and we had it at least once a week for lunch.
I ended up moving away and then out of State so hadn’t been in several years.
For NYE my bestie and I were attending a comedy show next door so we decided to plan to eat here for dinner before the show and the food was exactly as I left it… best Thai IMO in the Arlington, Nova area.
Already told other co-worker about it and plan to make the trip down more often to dine.

Diner Review №163

The service was great. The food was also good. They have a market next to the restaurant. There is plenty of parking. I loved salt & pepper calamari because it is light and delicious. Pad Cha From the Sea is also very good delicious but very spicy if you like. I loved both

Awful 54 fried rice, full of sweet sauce even when we asked for the highest level of spice. Tom yum too salty and sour, not well rounded like it should have been. Stale mixed vegetable dish, calamari wasn’t good either, did not seem like it was well seasoned. Do not recommend.

I was racially profiled by an employee of this establishment. Bangkok 54 has a parking lot behind their restaurant that I often park at to go to the other attached ramen restaurant Boru. I’ve never have an issue parking there the numerous times I’ve been. Today when I pulled into the parking lot and got out of my car, an employee of Bangkok 54 asked me if was I going to their restaurant to which I answered no. She then replied that parking was only for their customers. I explained to her that I always park there when I visit Boru and it’s never been a problem. Nonetheless, I moved my car to the fringe parking lot and walked across the street over to Boru. As I’m walking I see an Asian male park in the same spot I had just left out of. The employee asked him the same question to which he replied he was going to pick something up somewhere. She let him park there and didn’t make him move. Once she saw I was going in Boru she then wanted to have a conversation with to which I replied the entire situation was bullshxt. There is a hookah lounge and bar around the corner frequented by young black people and other people of color. I’m very certain she just assumed I was going there and told me to leave their lot. Her thought process was rooted in racism and I’m extremely disappointed but not surprised. I’m assuming both Bangkok and Boru are owned by the same people because she came into Boru while I was eating to apologize and I noticed the staff wear the same shirts. Her apology meant nothing because the action was already done. People should think twice before they automatically assume something based on the color of your skin. Needless to say they’ve lost a patron and if I could give them zero stars out of five, I would.

I recommend doing take out and not dine-in.

My takeout experience was great, the drunken noodles here are I think the best here, even better than Thai Square.

Dine-in experience: got green curry with tofu and sweet and sour pork. The rice was severely undercooked. A lot of pieces were completely hard and nearly completely raw. I asked for new rice, and the new rice still had uncooked rice in it.

As an Asian-American, I can't in good faith recommend eating at an Asian restaurant that can't cook rice properly. I can't trust a place like that

Also the tofu was not very good and not fried enough.

That was my dine-in experience. It was such a shame as the atmosphere is so nice and music was great.

FWIW Takeout was wildly different, rice was well cooked.

I highly recommend this place and trying everything on the menu. The food was some of the best I’ve had in the DMV and I would come back here again and again with friends and family. The cocktails were amazing and I recommend the Thai Boxer and Lychee Martini. They fit the meal so well and we’re a perfect start for the course. The food was even better and I recommend the spicy cashew dish and drunken noodles. Actually, everything was fantastic and the staff was friendly and personable. Please make this a stop during your time in the DMV or add it to your list of regular locals.

bummer they use fish sauce in their curries now

Love love love this place. So low key and quiet. Before interior decor. Happy every day. Drinks are what I go for. A little hole in the wall I can not keep secret.

Excellent customer service here and good Thai food here with many choices. The only downside to this place is the lack of convenient parking. If they moved to a location with more convenient parking they would easily triple their business revenues.

Good place to eat with family and friends. Very delicious food. The atmosphere was very positive.

Delicious! Parking is around back for the restaurant. We had Pad Thai, Thai Street Noodles, and Yellow Curry. Others had Tom Yum Soup, Simple Fried Rice, and sushi. Everything was excellent! Service was good as well!

Been here a couple times both for dine in and takeout. The house special duck rolls are a bit expensive for the size but soooo good. Also a fan of the drunken noodles and pad see ew

Good Food!! The only 3 things that irritated me was #1) The people hanging out around the restaurant. # 2) Some one decided that they should charge $2 for "one slice" of red onion to add to my salad. & #3) They have these handheld devices to scan your credit card at the table... The waitress found it to be okay that she stand there to wait for me to add on the tip... I AM AN EXCELLENT TIPPER but it's irritating and intimidating to stand over me while I'm adding in my appreciation. Step Off!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Bangkok 54, and I must say that I was thoroughly impressed with both the food and the service. The atmosphere was inviting and cozy, and the staff were friendly and attentive.

The standout dishes for me were the garlic lover beef and the pad thai. The beef was tender and flavorful, and the garlic sauce had just the right amount of kick to it. As for the pad thai, it was one of the best versions I have had in a long time. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the balance of flavors was spot on.

I love their Pad Thai and spring rolls! They have beautiful decor although they can play the music a bit loud. It’s not a place for long conversations over food with friends. I normally eat dine in before I go to the Arlington Draft house nextdoor. The tables are a bit small but the food more than makes up for it. I prefer their takeout.

This place is amazing, I come back over and over again just for their mock duck. Delicious seitan duck that is well coated and seasoned. The sushi is also delicious. Endless options with decent cocktails and reasonable pricing.

Hey Guy’s it’s the Foodie with the Tea!

I am signing off on Bangkok 54 with 5 stars.

At first I thought service was off to a slow start. However, once my waiter arrived, I received service worthy of a Michelin star.

I ordered the vegetable spring rolls, a spicy tuna roll, the 1/2 fried rockfish with spicy chili basil lime sauce and brown rice.

Their cocktail menu is sure to satisfy most.

I am so happy I listened to my waiter. He recommended the half rockfish because the whole fish is very big. I will definitely go back with a partner to try their whole steamed rockfish. My fish was cooked to perfection :-)

XOXO

I ordered drunken noodles, spicy eggplant, golden chicken, and Tom Ka soup. Everything was excellent and attention was paid to my level of spice requests (I’m a spice wimp). Pick up was a little bit difficult due to lack of Parkin, but the staff inside were so nice and amazing. In general, Thai food is a little bit pricey, but generous portions stretched the meal out to the next day. Definitely understanding why this is a favorite.
