Kisso Asian Bistro offers different Asian cuisine; including, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, and Korean. We use only the freshest ingredients purchased from True world, especially the seafood and fish. Our managers handpick the highest quality foods, never compromising on quality.
All of our seafood is order from True world food ( one of largest seafood company in the Us). The best quality. You try it, you will see the different.
We ordered the beef and chicken basil dishes. They were ample amount of beef/chicken meat and vegetables. The spicy level was low. The dishes were relatively healthy with low fat content.
Normally this area historical buildings have small rooms, but this restaurant is spacious and clean.
After our recent visit in Japan, it is nice to eat with fork and spoon with plenty elbow room.
The only downside about this area is the lack of parking.
I must say that this place serves great sushi, particularly the vegetable spring rolls and shrimp tempura for appetizers, and Cindy's, Black Dragon, and Sweet Heart rolls were our favorite.
The ambiance is nice and simple. While the service staff could be a bit more attentive in their rounds, the overall experience was still fantastic. On one occasion, my wife and I waited a bit longer than expected for water and someone to take our drink and appetizer orders, despite having closed our menus.
However, the food easily overshadows this minor hiccup. If you're in Old Town Alexandria and craving sushi, this is the place to be.
My friend/ client has been to the sister restaurant in Springfield and suggested we meet here for lunch as I only had an hour. The restaurant is on the corner of King Street and there was plenty of street parking at the time. It has 3 levels, but i guess only the middle level is opened during lunch. The main level has about 10-12 half booths, the upper level is where the bathrooms are, and there are mostly 4 seater tables. I didn't go downstairs, but my friend said that's primarily a bar area.
I arrived at 11:30 and only the workers were there. The young lady sat me at a table where there was a blast of air every few minutes. Initially, I thought I should move, but decided to stay as he's generally hot natured.
He arrived a few minutes later, and we started to discuss the menu. I know some things are cultural, and others are just rude. The young lady came over several times while we were discussing what to order as well as the sister location compared to this one. My friend asked for an Aaron roll, something offered at the sister restaurant. The server stated, 'we don't have that, every restaurant calls their rolls something different.' He ordered the Thai mango shrimp and a salmon avocado roll, and I ordered the 2 roll Maki lunch with a spicy tuna roll, yellowtail roll and miso soup, something every sushi restaurant gets right.
The soup came out very quickly as I went to wash my hands and came back with it sitting and waiting. By the time I finished my soup, his mango shrimp was served. For foodies, presentation means a lot, for a chef who knows the owner it means EVERYTHING. So yes, the presentation was a little sloppy as you see the sauce splatter.
The sushi comes out a few minutes later. I don't think I've been anywhere and had spicy tuna as bland as this. I told him to try a piece, and bland is an understatement. He called the server over and explained it wasn't spicy. She offered to bring some spicy mayo. It had the look and appearance of spicy mayo, but had the taste of plain yogurt and paprika. As opposed to sending it back, I just opted to use extra wasabi.
While we were eating, a manager/owner walked in and recognized my friend. As my friend is talking to the owner/manager, all of the servers start to crowd behind our table to eavesdrop on their conversation, in which he's asking why the spicy tuna or mayo aren't spicy. As soon as the gentleman walks away, the 3 servers follow him and began talking to him, turning back every now and then to look at us.
After I was done eating, I had to leave. However, my friend was still finishing, yet the server was trying to take his plates and give him the check. They did give him a 20% discount. Not for any condescending behavior or bad service, but due to the relationship with the owner.
Based on where this location is, I don't think they get a lot of black patrons. With that, the prejudices are allowed to flourish. The one thing about the DMV is you never know who knows who. Treat everyone the way you'd like to be treated, especially in the hospitality industry.
No, I will not be back nor recommend.
Love the freshness of the fish here! All the dishes we had from the Kani salad to the soup and the sushi were flavorful and delicious. There were quite a few customers when we sat down at dinner time, but the staff were still very attentive and quick to respond to our needs. Our food came out pretty fast after we ordered and was very enjoyable. A true gem on King Street and one of our favorite places to eat at with lots of options to choose from. Drop by Kisso when you have a chance, you won't be disappointed!
Great sushi. If you like sushi then here is great
This is one of my favorite sushi restaurants in the area. They're creative and have a variety of food on the menu that can cater to many taste buds.
Food was fresh and yummy but a little blah. Service was efficient and friendly.
I must say that this place serves great sushi, particularly the vegetable spring rolls and shrimp tempura for appetizers, and Cindy's, Black Dragon, and Sweet Heart rolls were our favorite.

From the delicious sushi and hot and sour soup to the kind, friendly, and attentive staff, this is my go to sushi spot. Thank you for another wonderful meal!
Happy New Year dinner. Shared Mermaid Roll and General Tso shrimp. So good. Excellent food. We will be back.
Food was good.
Food was okay (nothing bad, nothing special) but also was not cheap. Likey won't go back.
I’m disappointed as this place seems to have good reviews. I ordered delivery, and the food was very mediocre. My sesame chicken meat was dry, and the flavors aren’t different from any other local Chinese restaurant. The higher price suggesting there would be more effort to make it a higher end Chinese doesn’t match what was delivered.
Nothing special.
Usual fare for Asian cuisine.
Very nice wait staff.
My wife and I ate dinner here on Friday night. The Seafood soup appetizer was tasty and healthy. My wife had sushi, the sassy roll, which is tempura shrimp with salmon. She said that it was fresh and tasty. I had the Kung Pao chicken, which had plenty of celery and carrots with thin sliced chicken. Not as good as Peter Chang’s or PF Chang’s Kung Pao, but acceptable. Next time I’ll stick with the Sushi.
Food came out super quick and it was rich in flavor. Loved it!
Thai basil fried rice was just regular fried rice with basil leaves in it. I’ve gotten Thai basil fried rice before and it’s not supposed to taste anything like regular soy sauce fried rice so idk if the cook was just being lazy or they made a mistake and hoped that I wouldn’t pay attention. I was told it would have jalapeños in it. It didn’t. Also, something didn’t agree with my stomach so I ended up throwing majority of my food away. Based on the other reviews, I am disappointed. Not sure if I’ll be back.
Order thru Doordash and I have to say, my mind was blown!
If it was that good even tho the delivery took 45 min I can just imagine how good is fresh!
Definitely have to go!
Great in all the major sections. Sushi on point.
We ordered the beef and chicken basil dishes. They were ample amount of beef/chicken meat and vegetables. The spicy level was low. The dishes were relatively healthy with low fat content.

Really good food. You can’t go wrong with anything.
Another fantastic dinner. Prompt service, outstanding Asian food, reasonable prices. Just go and enjoy.gkuten free friendly with soy paper wrap on sushi also available on their rolls if desired
Good wine collection. Inexpensive.

Man this service here are extremely rude and ridiculous they were just trying their best to push this out a good huge party of 12. They were like rushing us to eat and then leave
Fantastic sushi and unbeatable service.
This is our favorite sushi place in Old Town. Have been coming here since they opened maybe five years ago. The owner used to be a sushi chef at MoMo Sushi, which used to be our local favorite. His sushi here has consistently been top quality whereas we were disappointed with quality once or twice at MoMo and its always too cramped. We usually get the sushi combo.
Staff was so Rude , I ended up walking out.
The food tasted terrible and the service was bad as well. They are so rude. They have open fish in the open and flys EVERYWHERE. I didn’t like the food so I returned it and they only gave me 50% off. Save your time and don’t come here.
Go to for sushi. Great service and food!
I was denied service because of my service animal.
Lots of choices in this Asian restaurant located across the street from City Hall. You can choose from Chinese, Thai, and Japanese dishes, including sushi. During the week, you can take advantage of lunch specials from 11 AM til 3 PM. A friend and I shared the Thai Basil Chicken special with brown rice ($11.50) and an Avocado Salad ($6.95). A delicious, very reasonably priced lunch.
Went with a work group. We all got different items, and ate part of them. The server was so kind, and food was ok tasting. But we all ended up feeling bad pretty quickly after and ending the night early.
Good food but slow
First of all, this is a solid sushi place. Fair pricing for the location, good rolls, good atmosphere.
However the kitchen entrees brought this down some notches. It’s not terrible but not great in comparison to other options around the area.
Get the sushi …
Rapide, bon , service souriant et prix correct pour le quartier
I had an excellent dining experience! I loved the vegetable Yaki Udon and spicy tuna roll, both of which were superb! The service was exceptional, with staff attentively catering to every need. The lively background music added to the cozy ambiance. I'll definitely be returning to this delightful sushi spot!
Ordered through Uber eats and they were closed. Why accept deliveries until closing time if you have no intention of making them? Try stopping orders 30 minutes prior to close instead of at close.
I gave 2 stars because I've ordered from here twice before. Once was great, the other ok.
Solid sushi place. Great location.
Best sushi spot I’ve ever been to. The food is fenomenal and the service is great. The yellow tail jalapeño appetizer is amazing and I can’t say I have a favorite roll because they are all soooo good.
Service - rude, food - overpriced for the taste, menu is totally different from what actual food look like. I don't see 4.6 is accurate in this place.
Attended a private event in the basement Staff was fantastic. Drinks and food were great.
An absolutely wonderful experience at this place . Everything was just delightful. Keep it up
Was surprised to find the more expensive sushi to come with only 4 rolls.
We ordered sweet and sour chicken and chicken with mixed vegetables online. We picked it up 15 minutes later. Food was incredibly good quality and value. Thank you for a great meal!
The sushi is simply ok here. Had the New York Roll and the Tri-Color roll. Both were pretty good. Has the miso soup as an appetizer, but the soup was lukewarm and flavorless. Also the wasabi that came with my sushi had no heat at all, like it was just green colored paste. Service was good, but the sushi overall was just ok. The rolls themselves tasted good but a good wasabi is necessary to complete the experience.
Great food off King Street, good service too! We had Singapore noodles, won ton soup, and sushi.
I would never trust any review for Alexandria location. This place is chinese owned japanese restaurants. Fishes were not fresh and portion is too small for the price. I ordered sushi for 2 and thai mango chicken. They charge for the rice when you change from white rice to brown rice ($2)
The food at his place is amazing, the flavors and the presentation are 10/10, the place isn't fancy, and actually don't try to be. Maybe I modified that and added some amenities to the place.
Below average Asian food. Very mix of stereotypical pan Asian list of food - mix of sushi, curry and fried rice. Weird, no real mastery of specific cuisine. Won’t visit again.
Ate a late lunch with my son. I usually go to other sushi places, but they all close from 2:30 to 5. Kisso was the first place I found open all afternoon. Turns out they serve off of the lunch menu until 3. Also turns out the food, service, and atmosphere were top notch. I have no issues recommending Kisso.
Fantastic experience, with extremely attentive and good service. The food was very reasonably priced, especially considering that it was all extremely high quality. From sushi rolls to soups, bento, and nigiri, we enjoyed everything that was ordered and absolutely plan to be back soon! Also, the new takoyaki appetizer is delicious.
I went here for the first time with friends on New Year's Eve without reservations. The wait was not more than 10 minutes. The atmosphere was electric, the service great, and the sushi "Love Boat" fantastic! We had a great time and will definitely be back ASAP!
My favorite sushi restaurant in the DMV area!
I was excited to try this place because it had a good mix of sushi and other entrees. Really enjoyed the sushi out of everything we ordered. We also tried the orange chicken, basil fried rice, and lo mein. These dishes were ok too.
The food was good, and so was the service.
Great place for an early Christmas Eve dinner. Two couples ordered four dishes from all over the menu and shared. All four dishes were exemplary
We'll be back.
Good sushi and service
Portions were much larger than I was expecting. Food was really good, Service was great. Convenient location, as parking garage was very close. My only complaint was the tables were too close to others.
Very bad customer service . The person who took my order she was very rude. I don’t recommend .
Great place
Terrific sushi
El sushi inolvidable, el atún rojo especiado una delicia, precio calidad imbatible en una hermosa ciudad en el centro comercial de Virginia!!!
I like the drunk noodles!!!! Sushi is good to.
Great sushi in Old Town Alexandria!
Ordered two starters, “sushi for 2”, some scampi’s + a bottle of Kung Fun Girl Riesling (just had to🥷😄) (and yes that was a lot of food!!😅)
Swift service and food came out in a rapid speed. Could have done without the soup and salad in the sushi menu for two, but the sushi it self was amazingly good and well presented!
Also think it’s fairly priced considering the location and the quality of the food. 👌
Maybe not the most fancy place, but with a good view over the sushi bar/kitchen.
Would definitely recommend this place and would love to come back some day.
Had two of the specialty rolls for dinner boy were they good. Very large. I
Had lunch there and the food and service were excellent.
Wonderful food and exceptional service.
I keep getting back to this restaurant, and I always have a great lunch.
My daughter and I ate here yesterday. The scene by the river was maddening, so we found this restaurant a few blocks away. My daughter had a chicken teriyaki dish, and I had Thai basil. All of it was so tasty. Although the restaurant is small, it felt modern and cozy.
Service was very slow. Sushi was moderately priced, the udon was not to taste. Perhaps they were lacking due to us arriving at the tail-end of lunch rush (2 pm). I would try again eventually.
Excellent food , never disappointed .
Thank you
I like this place I frequently eat here. But today I just cant ignore how rude the Staff is. I walked in, no one greater me. There was a lady who seem to be doing something on yje computer. I waited at the register as the lady continued to do whatever she was doing, she never acknowledged me. A group of 3 walked in and immediately was greated and seated. Still no one assisted me. I walked out. I won't be returning.
Great food. Good portions for the cost. Family friendly and didn’t have to wait long for a table.
Phenomenal food, terrible service.
Great sushi and Asian/Thai food. Highly recommend
Not a bad place for sushi and other Asian favorites.
The General Tso's could have been spicier, but everything was delicious. Perhaps they looked at me and thought I couldn't handle any spice? Lol. That's fair.
I cleaned my plate and will likely be back when I'm in town.
Great fod! Good atmosphere! Staff could definitely be more friendly but overall a good experience!
Great place really nice atmosphere excellent food and service
Excellent food and service
Loved their sushis!
Great place for a quick bite near Old Town alexandria
Called ahead for reservations and was told first come first serve, but they were not busy so to come in. We arrived an hour before they were closing and they were extremely rude. They had a ton of open tables, one table was just seated and still had menus, but they would not seat us and told us we could get to go even though they did not close for another hour. Will not return, treat customers better!
Love the freshness of the fish here! All the dishes we had from the Kani salad to the soup and the sushi were flavorful and delicious. There were quite a few customers when we sat down at dinner time, but the staff were still very attentive and quick to respond to our needs. Drop by Kisso when you have a chance, you won't be disappointed!
A decent sushi place with a very good selection of sake. For King Street, the prices are quite reasonable. Their other food isn't quite up to the standards of their sushi, but provide a good alternative for people who may be squeamish about the idea of sushi.
Decent sushi but overpriced for the amount you get. Quality of the sashimi was excellent. Not terribly crowded and pick up was extremely easy.
So, the family wanted sushi really bad and we found this place which I'm glad we did. The service was great. The servers came over to assist me with opening my soda. But they also made sure we were taken care of even if it wasn't our servers.
So, we had a lot of food (took videos and can't upload them). All of the food was delicious and fresh. They have nice size portions. My wife got the soup forgot which one and she was so excited. She got the angry dragon roll which she truly enjoyed. My oldest got a sushi special roll and he said it was good. The little one which sushi is his favorite ordered the shrimp tempura and almost ate all 16 pieces there until I told him enough lol. I got the scallops roll and it was Devine , the calamari and the crab Rangoon were both amazingly cooked.
This place was nice and clean. I like how they cleaned up immediately after someone left the table but what caught my eye was that they swept each time customers leave. Some places forgets about the floor and the seats so that's an extra 20 points.
Long waiting
Always ve4y friendly and attentive. We have had both the chinees/thai dishes as well as rolls. All we have had for multiple visits have been fresh and flavorful. Excellent Thai basil shrimp, shrimp basil fried rice, and multiple rolls, including specials, have always been excellent. Usually a go to every time we are in town for business.
We took ourselves here for a nice date night in Old Town. The place itself is quite cozy and had a good atmosphere with modern pop and R&B music playing. The food was overall very good. The yellowtail roll and dragon roll came out very good. The miso soup was refreshing and warming. We tried the red tobiko with quail egg which honestly had a good texture but just a very neutral taste. Also, the Fatty Tuna, at market price, was just a little less fresh then we would've liked. It had the slightest hint of ocean to it and it had some left over blood vessel showing in the presentation. But overall the service was decent and I wouldn't mind exploring the rest of the menu on other visits. We spent $70 for two, including sodas and tea.
amazing!
Delicious food and great service!
Food was pretty good but not too memorable. I’d come back if I were craving Japanese food again, but I wouldn’t say it was my favorite spot. However, definitely worth a visit if you want Japanese food.
Genuine cuisine conveniently located.
Best sushi in Old Town and lots of other menu choices for those who are on the mood for Chinese or Thai. Went early the other day and all tables had kids eating rice and noodles and having fun.
I come here regularly and I love it. I’ve tried both their Chinese food and sushi and neither have disappointed. Their fried rice is amazing. Prices are reasonable and I always have a good meal. Def worth checking out, especially if you take advantage of their lunch specials.
First visit to this location - excellent service, great sushi, and very friendly staff. Every plate we saw looked professionally arranged and very colorful.
Menu has extensive options for whatever your in the mood for. Take some time to enjoy the tea!
The food is good but the 2 stars go to their "store" with Uber Eats. I order through Uber Eats at least 2-3xs/week. So, I am very picky. Kisso Asian Bistro needs to update their Menu with Uber Eats.
All they have to do is log in into their account in Uber Eats Manager > Menu > edit.
1) Photo of the "Tuna Tataki" --> needs to be updated. What you will receive, if you order through Uber Eats, is not at all as shown in the picture used in their Uber Eats Menu (below).
2) The "Sashimi appetizer" --> needs additional description. They can simply add an additional description below the item name to tell customers what this item is about. All the restaurant needs to do is log in into their Uber Eats Manager > Menu > update Item > add description.
It's not very clear what you will receive when the item name only says "Sashimi appetizer". What type of fish? How many pieces? If it's chef's order, say that!
We are regulars here! Carry out mostly. Travels well -- always fresh sushi, always hot soup!
Delicious 🤌🏾
The sushi is the best that I've found in the area. The downstairs seating area is definitely much nicer than the upstairs, so request downstairs if you can. The only complaint I have is that they don't write your name down if there is a wait so you have to stand close by to make sure nobody gets in ahead of you- but the food is good enough that I'll still give 5 stars. Staff is friendly.
Not fresh.
First time ordering from here. Ordered the godzilla roll and shrimp tempura roll. Both were delicious and packed very nicely. I wish I took pics but I couldn’t resist devouring them. Anyways, I will definitely be going here more often.
Solid little Asian restaurant. I've had both the sushi and their cooked dishes. Service is always fast and friendly. Sushi quality is solid. One of the better ones in Old Town at this price point. Their Chinese dishes are also really good but I find Thai items the weakest so they're maybe a little over extended there.
Great place to grab lunch. I’ll come back!
Food was bland tasting. I've had better mall chinese. One set of chopsticks provided for 4 dinners...no other utensils.
Great lunch options!
The food was fantastic: fresh, tasty, great portions.
To die for. I have eaten sushi hundreds of times in my life all over the world and this may have been the best I have ever eaten. I had two specialty rolls and split an app. They are worth ever penny
Amazing sushi rolls. Great waitress, sushi chef top notch.
One of my favorite places to get asian cuisine especially sushi in the ild otwn alexandria area. Loved it so much, held my holiday party here last December 2022. Barry and the rest of the staff took great care to make our experience as great as possible. I can't recommend this place enough!!!
