Update: we were there after 5pm.. there was people dining inside.

I left the restaurant because no one came to serve me... The place wasn't busy, and a couple of tables had people eating. My friend and I sat by the door waiting to be taken to our seat. After five minutes, we decided to walk in and stand by the front counter, maybe that way someone can notice us. Another 5 minutes pass by still no one. We had no clue how to let them know they have costomers waiting to be seated. We left the restaurant.

FYI, I have had food here before, which is good. But come on... please find a way where you could be more aware of people entering the restaurant. Kind of disappointed.

It was unfortunately deserted by customers. The owner was the cashier and cook. It was lunch time on a Thursday. I think he is being hit by the economy and not his food. I hope they can hold on. Go and support them. It was good!!!!

We ordered takeout on Halloween Night, and the staff was very friendly and they even had a bowl of halloween candy for the patrons! The food was delicious!! The massaman curry was silky smooth and so comforting, the potatoes and carrots were cooked perfectly! The fried rice is salty but delicious! It is not bland and has a good balance of veggies and protein. The Chicken Satay was very good, the chicken prices were thick (not skinny like other restaurants) and the peanut sauce was delicious!! We can’t wait to come back for more!

We loved eating here. The food portion is small for what was expected and the side of rice that says on the menu will come with the soup will possibly if asked for ahead of time.

This was a good Thai place near the mall. We tried two different spice levels of the Pad Thai (they have 10), and they were both good. It was quite, so this might be a good place for larger groups without any reservation needed.

ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!! Best Thai I have had in a long time. Our server was attentive and helpful with suggestions of popular dishes. Meal came quickly. Vegetables were fresh and the flavors were authentic.

I have been coming here pretty much every Friday for the past 2 years. I love whenever I mention this place to someone and they say "I go there so often Marina knows everyone in our group by name." This place has great food and Marina knows how to make everyone feel like her favorite customer. ❤️

Update: 5 years now. The food is still great and Marina is still fantastic. I love that Golden Thai is an Orem staple.

We love good Thai food and Golden Thai has easily taken our top spot for it in Utah County, beating out Spicy Thai, which we always thought was good, but just okay (we'd give it 4 stars). We have our usual list of haunts and this handily makes that list - in the top ten for sure, maybe even in our top five. Food is excellent, no matter what you order with the familiar curries and noodle dishes you know and love, but with a few specialities unique to them that are definitely worth a try as well. The dining room is always very clean, and during Covid, they're careful to observe proper distancing, sanitization and masking. Service is only descent because they could definitely be faster depending on when you go, though we haven't quite figured out that formula yet. Mostly we only get take-out these days which doesn't create a waiting problem. There's only one Thai restaurant we've ever found that's better, but they're in CA, so this is the best local choice.

UPDATE: Since the pandemic, we've eaten here twice (everyone gets a second chance), but their prices prices have increased and their portions shrunk! The value isn't there anymore and I often leave hungry. We've since switched to Thai Drift in NOrem.

Amazing food, amazing service, great atmosphere. The staff is the best. Worth the drive, reasonably priced. Love this place.

Ordered Pad See Ew with extra meat and extra vegetables. What I received was very disappointing in the amount. The portion was not very big let alone for having paid extra for more meat and veggies.
Dish was not spicy in the slightest which was disappointing for a Thai dish but other wise it tasted alright. Not the best Pad See Ew I've had but not the worse, it was just average. Overall just was not worth the price for the amount I got and how it tasted.

Delicious food. Very quiet when we came in. Service was excellent.

One of the best Thai places in Utah Valley

First of all, I’m so glad I finally got to try this place. I’ve heard great things about it from friends, and it did not disappoint. Marina, our server was so kind and upbeat, which is what I needed after a long day of work: yummy food and a smiling face! I ordered the drunken noodles and chicken wings, both were so delicious and filling. The chai tea was delicious and refreshing as well. The environment is unique, quiet and relaxing, which I love! If you like a quiet, cozy dining experience and flavorful food, This is Thai place! I thought it was reasonably priced but craved more..I’ll be back for more thai tea and noodles!

Best Thai we’ve had in Provo, service can be slow

I haven’t been here in a while. Was our favorite Thai in Provo. Tonight we got 2 curries, a stir fry, and drunken noodle. I don’t know if they lost their cook or we were just getting the leftovers at the end of a long day, but the curry and stir fry were not very good. We had family in town and we all felt the same way. Not gross, but just really bland. Something has changed and we probably won’t go back. Kinda bummed

I love Golden Thai! The golden Thai fried rice and golden Thai curry is so good! Marina is so sweet and bubbly!

We will never go back, the service was terrible, the host was very rude and the amount of the food was a joke!

This is my wife and I's favorite Thai place by a long shot! The Golden Curry and the pineapple curries are to die for. We also can't pass up a chance to get the sticky rice with peanut sauce.

There are several Thai restaurants in the Provo/Orem area and Golden Thai fits neatly into the busy collection of restaurants that sit out front of the Orem Cinemark. I went on a double date and the currys we ordered were all unique and well made. I especially loved the veggie spring rolls we ordered as an appetizer.

First experience. I have eaten quite a lot of Thai in many places. I am from New York, originally. The food here is the best Thai I have had so far. Ordered Golden Thai Curry and Drunken Noodles. The Golden Thai Curry is a blend and is delicious. I finally found a Thai place in Utah, and will be regular patron.

Food came out within 10 minutes.

Portion sizes are slightly on the lesser size. It is close. They do quality over quantity.

You can’t go wrong with the food. Enjoy.

We normally love this place but the hostess / owner has been dismissive & rude multiple times. Additionally, our pickup order was wrong today. The spring rolls were missing shrimp & cilantro. The curry was supposed to be chicken, but instead was super chewy pork which I don’t care for at all. Also, beware of their spice levels. If you ask for 4/10 heat it’s still unbearably hot, & that’s coming from someone who loves spice. For how expensive it is, it’s not a great experience. Used to be a lot better a few years ago.

Golden Thai is the place I take coworkers to lunch at, bring out of town family to, and we've even done the catering for a party! 🎉 It's all around an amazing place to dine!

The food and service are both amazing! My wife and I have gone here for several years and are always greeted warmly and served great food. I always recommend this place to friends and family for the best Thai food in Utah county.

This is one place I love to order from again and again. I get their golden curry every time. Literally the best ever! I wish I knew the recipe, it’s just that good. It does feel a bit more mild than it used to be, and while I kinda miss that extra kick, I don’t mind the change.

Their masaman curry is my favorite, I have tried it at so many other thai restaurants and can’t find another that beats it!

Unfortunately, the Massaman Curry has really dropped in quality. I remember back during Covid it was delicious and well worth the price, compared to today where it was almost tasteless and seemed watered down. I only started getting flavor at the bottom of the container and considering the size of the container, that is NOT good. Sadly, I don't think I will be coming back as this is not a one off and last time I came here, it was the same experience.

Pleasantly surprised with the food here. We had the combo appetizer (fried shrimp, pot stickers, cream cheese wontons, and spring rolls), mango sticky rice, and golden curry. All were good. We also really liked our server. Will definitely come back again. Excited to try the pad thai next time.

I ordered a pad Thai, with the spice level 6. I figured that would be right above medium. Enough to keep your mouth warm. But this was unbearably spicy. And lacked any flavor because of that. All the meal was, was heat and uncomfort. I had heard amazing things about this place and I did NOT enjoy my experience.

If you like Thai food, you HAVE to stop here! I was looking for something vegetarian in the area, and I’m so glad I tried Golden Thai. The avocado curry was absolutely incredible— I’d never tried an avocado curry before, but the creamy, sweet, and savory flavors together were delicious. (I accidentally asked for a lower number of spice than I probably needed to, but even without the spiciness it was great! If you’re a spice fan, you can probably go higher.) The owner/staff were all incredibly friendly, and the restaurant was well kept. I will definitely be coming back— try it!

Always a positive experience

Since my last review, Golden Thai has become a regular stop for us. My wife and I love it! We've since tried many of their dishes and all of them have been superb. However, the green avocado curry and the mango curry absolutely top our list. The signature Golden Thai curry is a close third. We've brought friends and family to Golden Thai as well and they've all loved it. This is the best Thai food in Utah. I've had Thai food all over the western United States and Golden Thai ranks at the very top for the food and the great service from their owner and her staff. Golden Thai delivers in every way, I highly recommend!!

The food was pretty good. My husband ordered the drunken noodles, I got the green curry and my boys ordered the chicken fried rice and the kids sweet and sour chicken. My husband really liked his food. I've ordered green curry a lot! At a lot of different places. It was okay in my opinion. Wasn't super flavorful and I personally like more veggies in mine. The one they served me was really soupy. When I was ordering and asked if she could add broccoli and eggplant she seemed annoyed. My oldest son loved his fried rice and my 7 year old ate the chicken and some of the rice and peppers, but he doesn't really like peppers and onions. I think it's funny they load a kids meal with tons of pepper and onions. I mean there was like 1 parts chicken to 2 parts onions and peppers. So he was still hungry and I had to order him something else. I don't think many kids like peppers and onions. But, I could be wrong.
The service was not very good. The woman that was helping us was nice some of the time, but got annoyed very easily. I think she was overwhelmed. I didn't see any other servers, so I think she was the only one seating and serving. It was really hard to get her attention the one time I tried. It was like she was ignoring me, so I had to get out of my seat and go to the front desk where I knew she could see and hear me.
When we were leaving I ordered some spring rolls to go for my oldest son and she was annoyed again. Like she was really annoyed. It showed in her face and tone. She said they had a lot of orders ahead of me and it would be a wait, which I was okay with and expected.
I don't remember her ever checking on us and she didn't refill our water until asked. But if you don't make any alterations, order more food after yours has been served and don't mind slow service you should be fine.

I ordered the Curry fried rice as pick up. The price for it was $15 and what I received was something in my opinion should’ve been $6. I would recommend a little more than what I received. I thought the flavors all in all was mediocre. I should’ve just saved my money and cooked my own fried rice.

Food is alright but customer service needs a ton of work. Had a brief argument with one of their staff when my card wouldn't work for the transaction, I sat a side for 5 minutes to get it resolved on my end. After I got it resolved and paid for my food, they tried telling me I still owed money and double charged me for someone else's order. The lady wasn't having it and kept insisting that I pay the rest til I had to firmly explain why I'm not paying double til she finally realized it was a mistake on their end. All in all, meh experience. Wouldn't come again.

We went here for date night. The food was so good, we had to order more to go for lunch the following day!

Spring rolls are so small. For 7.99, you get 4 pieces of mini spring rolls which you can get 4 at panda express with the same price but better quality and 3 times bigger. Tong yum gong was watery. There were only 5 pieces of small shrimps, 3 pieces of medium size dice tomato and 4 small mushrooms in it. Orem gets a lot more Thai food options better than that for sure. And it took a long time for food to come to the table after order. They gave us the wrong appetizer but then corrected it. However, it arrived in the middle of us consuming the entree. I was about to asked them to not bother give me the appetizer since we already missed it but they just walked away really fast trying to dodged my question.

The food is delicious, and the owner (Marina) is SO kind. This is now my go-to Thai place.

If I could give a 0 star review, I would. Hey Google, make that an option haha. It was freezing. Slowest service I've ever had. Food was nasty. I have no idea why it's so popular. Maybe they just don't know what actual reasonable service is. I will never ever be back. And I don't usually leave bad reviews just saying. Save yourself an hour of nothing at your table just to be very disappointed.

This is a hidden gem. The food was so flavorful and fresh! You can order your food as hot or as mild as you like. The service was great. I can’t wait to go back.

Love this place! Been here 10+ times and we enjoyed the food every time! Some items I love: spicy chicken wings, spicy golden thai fried rice, avocado curry, yellow curry fried rice, drunken noodles, Thai basil stir fry and Thai tea! Their Thai tea is so good. Curry is very flavorful too. Just be careful with the spice. The owner is super friendly too. The quality for takeout is as good as dine in. Will keep coming back!

Not impressed with their food - the staff members were very nice though.
We order the chicken pad tai. It only came with 3 pieces of chicken and the flavor was okish.
We also got the tofu curry and the flavor of the curry was pretty good, but it was very liquid like a soup instead of a nice thick consistency.
The portions were kinda small too for the price.

Spring rolls were absolutely terrible. Lettuce and very small amount of rice noodles wrap in rice paper. No carrots, Cilantro.
I called to talk to the restaurant about the issue. The girl that answered spoke over me, never letting me explain anything. She was talking to the boss (or someone over her) and told them I said there was rice and lettuce in the spring roll. Lol I told her no, I said there was lettuce and a very small amount of rice noodles. I then heard her tell her boss “I think she's a scammer". She went on to say she knows they were made right and checked them and I'm a liar. . I've ate at this restaurant plenty of times for the Pad Thai. I won't ever go back after the horrible customer service.

The best Thai food in Utah hands-down!

O my goodness, this place has delicious yellow curry. I get it every time I go. I think, this time I'll try something else, but then my mouth just can't say it because it gets a mind of is own and orders yellow curry again. The great thing about that is I always leave full and happy:)

Portions of sweet and sour chicken were akin to lunch portions, fairly bland in taste, far to expensive for what you get.

This is the best Thai food I have had in my entire life. I love every dish I have tried. The staff is super nice. It is my favorite restaurant. Period.

The dinner portions are incredibly small. I ordered a dinner portion and for $12, they give you a half a plate of food that is already spread incredibly thin across the plate. If that's the dinner portion, I don't even want to know what the lunch portion looks like. I ordered a Pad Thai veggie entree and could even count the onion slices because there was hardly anything there. Bad service too. Do not come here.

Would rather give this place 0 stars because I went there and got the S7 meal of the pho for take out. When I got home I opened up my box to find ROTTEN BRISKET for my pho. This meat was bunched together and looked like Swiss cheese. It also reflected the light off of it and gave a green hue to it. I thankfully didn’t eat any of it but sadly only had 2 pieces of actual good meat which were very questionable. The rest of the food was good but the meat was an absolute no. You can get severely sick and possibly die from this. Definitely not going back after this

Wow! We had the pineapple curry, Penang curry, pineapple fried rice and pad Thai. We eat a lot of Thai food. This was the best we have had. Great service!

Great curry and friendly service!

Great spot for a couple, or lots of friends to enjoy some great Thai food. May not impress the purists, but the dishes we enjoyed went down without leaving anything on the plate. Next door to the Farr's Ice Cream shop where dessert is waiting!

We went for Friday dinner. They served us an appetizer we didn't order and charged us for it. The food was horrible and made both of us extreamly sick. The rice was supposed to be fried rice but it was over cooked streamed rice with no flavor and I can't even say what else was in it. One dinner order was a stir fry and it came out looking like soup.

We love Thai food but this event was beyond disappointing especially when we were asked how it was. We told them what was wrong and their response was "Thai isn't for everyone."

The service was fantastic, and it was the best Thai food I have had within at least 200 miles.

We have tried 4 dishes here over 2 separate visits, and they were all home runs. Great flavor, happy and friendly service, and nice serving sizes. Might be our new go-to Thai spot.

The Drunken Noodles were the best I've had, and the Golden Curry was delicious. I would strongly consider getting those dishes again next time I visit. The Avocado Curry was something I had never tried nor heard of, but it was delicious (had to take a few bites to get used to it first). Lastly, the Pad Thai was good, but I would give that dish 4/5 stars (texture was a bit off).

Disclaimer: I am not an easy person to please. So, keep that in mind as you read my review. I do not say anything of these things lightly.

Just had drunken noodles here and they were delicious! And that's saying a lot because I'm SUPER picky about this dish! The lady who helped me (I'm not sure if she was the owner or not) was so awesome! She was very friendly and I received 5-star customer service. Since both the food and the service both blew me away, I'm a customer for life. Can't wait to go back and try more of their food! Highly recommend this place.

The search is over! I moved to Utah Valley 5 years ago, after having lived in 7 countries & 7 states. Since arriving, I have been searching for my "go to" Thai restaurant. I finally found it in Golden Thai Cuisine.

Thai food is my absolute favorite cuisine! Such a rich, intricate & complex mixture of flavors. Don't settle for Pad Thai! Explore the whole menu. You'll be so glad you did! You will never be the same.

Some suggestions, based on samplings of our first visit:

Golden Curry
Mixture of red, green and yellow curries. Chicken, beef and pork. Nice and pleasant flavor. Modest recommendations at spice level 5.

Pineapple Curry
Awesome and sophisticated mixture of the spice of red curry with the sweetness of pineapple to tame and complement the heat. Highly recommend at SPICE LEVEL 5.

Mango Curry
My favorite of the group. Tender sweet Mango chunks mixed in a yellow curry sauce with your choice of meat. Ours was chicken. Highly recommend at the default spice level. (3)

I will definitely be back! I'm so excited to try some of their other dishes, such as Penang Curry, Massaman Curry, Pad Kra Pow, Tom Ka Gai soup, Pineapple fried rice, etc.

Food was great. Service made me never want to return. Watching other people get seated, order, and get their food before I get a chance to order is unacceptable.

On a fluke, my husband and I went there. VERY happy we did. Marina was one of our servers and was very engaging. Our new favorite. We will certainly be back!

Now, this is my jam! I absolutely love Thai Cuisine, and I've gone to several Thai restaurants around the are, and this is by far my favorite. Everything I've ordered is delicious, and the serving size is really good. My personal preference: Golden Thai Curry. The owner is super friendly, and remembers me by name. Definitely stop by!

Finally! A Thai restaurant using the right kind of noodles in the Drunken Noodles. I liked the spiciness level but if you like it realllly spicy you may want to ask for it that way. (If you don’t like spicy you’ll definitely want to ask for that).

The food tasted good, but my stomach was still grumbling when I left this place because the portions were so small.

First experience at this restaurant. We came in about 30 mins before they closed, knowing this we were already ready to order, but we were forgotten and didn’t get our order taken after we were sitting for awhile. After we did order the food came out fast and was delicious! We ordered pad Thai and pineapple curry. We wanted a little more rice to eat the rest of the curry, I kept trying to get a staff members attention... finally I did and she yelled across the restaurant if I wanted the check...? I said no and she just stood there so I walked over and asked for more rice. I’ve been in the hospitality industry for over 10 years, and have never seen a waiter/waitress yell across the restaurant to a guest. People leave an impression and unfortunately it was very negative one for us here... we will stick to our favorite Silver Dish in Provo where they have good food and better service.

Absolutely delicious. I got the regular massaman curry, my friends got the pumpkin and avocado curries. They were all so tasty. Highly recommend and will definitely be going back.

The owner Marina is incredibly friendly and inviting. I got the Golden Thai Curry and it was FANTASTIC! The spice was perfect, it was nice n creamy. The chicken in it was great, however, I wasn’t a fan of the beef and pork that they include as well. So just get the chicken. Wife got the Drunken Noodle. That was tasty as well.

Great service. Had the Pad Thai, Tom Ka Gai soup, pineapple curry, and massaman curry. Food is good.

It's my first time here and I really loved the food! Everything is sooo tasty, I really recommend it.

Extremely poor service. We went yesterday and were seated. After waiting for 30 minutes, we decided to walk out because no server had seen us yet. We hadn’t even been given drinks. Several other parties were either waiting to be seated or had also walked out. This was during lunch time and there was no server to be found. The restaurant wasn’t busy so I’m not sure why we received zero service.

Delicious authentic Thai and Laotian food with awesome service! Try it you won’t be disappointed! If you are new to Thai food i’d recommend the Pad thai, golden thai curry or the avocado curry but i’ve tried almost everything on the menu and it’s all amazing!

Golden Thai is one my wife's and my favorite restaurants. The owners are wonderful, super nice and personable; they'll likely know you by name after a visit or two.
We've been regulars for about 2 years and have tried everything on the menu. Some of my personal favorites are the Avocado Curry, Pumpkin Curry, and Som-Tum. Don't skip on the appetizers. I've done meals of just appetizers and was completely satisfied; I'd recommend the coconut shrimp, potstickers, or spring rolls.

This is easily my favorite place to eat in Orem. The restaurant is kind of homey and very clean. The owners and staff are always friendly - they even remember my name, and my usual order. I have tried nearly all the curries and every single one is fabulous! I have brought co workers, my teenage kids (and some of their friends), and many friends to eat here. None have ever been disappointed.

If you have high standards and love authentic Thai food, don't bother going anywhere else. This place is 10/10 every time. Their rice dishes are perfection, you'll eat until you hurt yourself, it's that good. And if you want curry dishes that aren't bland or disappointing, this place will be your holy grail. I've requested spicy from other restaurants in Orem/Provo but this place is the only one that actually gets it right. (If I ask for melt-my-face-off spicy I MEAN it) And their door dashers are always super sweet, I've never had a rude or late dasher from here, but that's probably just a coincidence.

Marina is wonderful; the food is wonderful; and we love that GTC is becoming more and more popular! If you want great Thai food, including some wonderfully unique dishes, this is the place for you!

We LOVE this place!! The food is SO great and the owner is SO kind! We always order the Golden Thai Curry and it never disappoints! I’m so glad we have such a yummy good place so close, so that we can have it often!! Also, this dish is Gluten Free which is also a bonus with my food allergy!!

My first Thai food was in the home of a Thai couple living in Moab. They converted their home into a small restaurant, and it was tough to get a table. But man it was worth the wait. And I was hooked.

That was in 1994. Since then, I have had Thai food all over the world. I have had good Thai food, bad Thai food, and fantastic Thai food. And Thai food is apparently very popular in Utah ... There are no fewer than 5 other Thai restaurants in the area. I first wondered why Golden Thai thought they would fill a gap in a bedroom community with so many other Thai restaurants.

Then I ate there, and now I know. We didn't have any Off-The-Charts-Outstanding Thai restaurants.

And now we do.

There are three things that make Golden Thai among the best Thai restaurants I have ever eaten at:

1. The food is phenomenal
2. Marina, the owner (with her husband, who is the head chef) is so friendly and service-oriented that I might consider stopping by just to experience their warm welcome, as a form of therapy when I am having a bad day.
3. The location is so central.

I like all kinds of Thai food, but I have to mention Golden Thai's tom kha gai (coconut chicken soup). It is probably the best tom kha gai I have ever had. Creamy, tangy, chunky, hint of sweetness, love the like flavor... It is a perfect melding of all the right ingredients.

If you like Thai food, you need to try this place. If you don't like Thai food, stop by - Marina (plus the food) may change your mind! And if you don't know if you like Thai food, I promise, you do. Yes, you do like Thai food. Especially if you eat it at Golden Thai.

Curry is delicious and service is fast and friendly. Very personable staff. They also allow you to increase or decrease the spiciness of the food to your liking when ordering.

Just so amazing! Easily the best in the state!!!
