I ordered their jasmine hot tea, fried pork dumplings, and yellow curry. Their yellow curry is spicy here, if you like spice definitely try it. Plenty of food when you order, 6 fried dumplings come with their fried pork dumplings appetizer, and a huge dish of yellow curry and vegetables with probably a 1.25 cups of white steamed rice come with the curry. You will leave full for sure. The pork fried dumplings did seem handmade, they are not your typical gyoza that you buy at the store, and the inside filling seemed like a handmade pork and vegetable filling. I also noticed what looked like fresh vegetables in the yellow curry, you can tell when it's frozen or fresh, and it looked like real sliced onion and red and green peppers. What I especially loved was the tea came with a tea kettle, you don't always get the whole tea kettle with the hot tea when you order it in every restaurant. When I left she did offer to put it in an insulated cup for me to take with me which I really appreciated as the jasmine tea was quite good and fragrant. All in all a very peaceful meal.

The atmosphere is carpet with wood tables and padded chairs. I would say it is casual, you wouldn't have to dress up, and the music was an instrumental slow jazz music.

We tried this place for dinner one evening and we were greeting as soon as we entered. Our server took our drink order, returned with our drinks and we order Laab Chicken Salad to start. My partner order the Panang Curry and I ordered the Basil Fried Rice. The Laab Chicken Salad was very delicious. My partner's Chicken Panang Curry was very tasty and well made. My Basil Fried Rice was so delicious. For dessert we ordered the Mango Sticky Rice which was some of the best we have tasted in all of our travels. The service here is top notch. They treat you like they have known you forever. The restaurant was very clean as were the restrooms. Cannot wait to return.

This Thai restaurant offers both Thai and Chinese dishes. The sauces are flavorful and the veggies are very fresh and delicious. Koung Thai features a number of excellent vegan dishes. I chose the vegan cashew and veggies with tofu. The sauce was outstanding, and everything was delivered stove-hot.
Follow up: Went again and had the yellow curry veggies and tofu. Spicy and delicious!

Got the #47 mixed stir fry veggie with beef. The veggies were crisp and not wilted or overly cooked. The brown sauce they use to cook it is so flavorful and goes really well with the dish, after I've finished the beef and veg, my husband scooped up the rest of the brown sauce & ate it with leftover rice, it tastes really good. He got the pineapple fried rice with chicken and added broccoli, it's different from another Thai place we went to in Richardson that also had pineapple fried rice. This one had added nuts and raisins, which were a bit unusual for us. The raisins surprisingly went with the pineapple and added to the flavor of the dish. Service is very friendly as well, they bring out your food quickly.

I came here twice when I was in the Dallas area. The first time I came, I shared with my family and really enjoyed the curries and stir fry dishes. The second time coming back and I hate to write, it was not as good as I remembered. I ordered the pad see ewe with tofu. It came with sweet and sour soup, which is not really my favorite soup, so I'm not going to review it. The pad see ewe was fresh but very off putting sweet. I tried to add some chili to balance it off, but one of the chili was salty, and the other chili was more for dim sum.

The service was still very good, and our waitress was attentive. Overall, if I come back here, I will eat more for dinner than lunch.

Food and service is lacking since under going new management. They have minimized the amount of food you get. In addition, some of the dishes and egg rolls are not the same recipe. Do not recommend and will not be returning.

Used to eat here all the time for 3 years. Their Pad Kee Mao is STILL the very best recipe I've ever had anywhere and I've now ordered it in at least 20 different establishments across the U.S. If there was a way to keep it hot during travel, then I'd order it by mail rather then settle for the local versions of this dish!

Pad Kee Mao - wow!

This used to be my favorite Thai place... the food is still good, but like many other awesome restaurants, the prices have gone up and portions way down. The pad thai was half the size it used to be, the summer rolls had half the meat and the sticky rice with custard was much smaller and didn't have any coconut cream on it.

I was in the neighborhood and wanted to try their Thai tea iced Thai tea. I looked up their menu. They had it in their menu for around $2.75 I went into the store and asked her if they had one to go. They said yes, it would be seven dollars. I was surprised it was seven dollars. I would’ve still purchased it if it would’ve stated seven dollars on the menu! I most definitely enjoyed the drink but the way the person treated me and acted as if was not welcomed and canceled my order simply because; I stated your Internet menu says one thing and you’re charging me differently! Her response was definitely unprofessional at the least. I might suggest a class on manners when working with the public would be in order for this young lady.

Tried to call and place an order several times after our online orders did not get accepted. Each time someone picked up the hung up without speaking. Not a great way to get business.

3 of us went here for the first time and I will never return! Food was cold and bland tasting. Then on top of that they never brought us one of our orders. Don’t know how this place has high ratings. It’s no good!

I had an amazing experience. The food was authentic, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The service was friendly and quick, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Highly recommend! I’ll definitely be back.

This place sucks. I ordered the pad kee mao and the noodles were dry, with no sauce. Absolutely no sauce! Tofu is fried to oblivion. They also did not pack one of the two fried rices that I ordered. Not offering from here again.

Under the new management/ownership we have tried it several times. As a regular for a long time, we miss our local good Thai restaurant favorite. The food has changed in flavors and lowered in quality. Spice levels are now also not the same.
Chicken Pad Thai or Pad Thai Chicken (haha) is our regular staple at all Thai restaurants. Here it is now much lower than it used to be.
Noodles and chicken seem over cooked and flavors just not the same awesomeness anymore. We may stopped visiting and drive further to the next Thai restaurant.

Staff is great, friendly and good service.
Atmosphere has reduced in decorations and tonight even had an off smell (of something similar to sewer or bad funky something - - not right). They had candles and possibly incense going to either mask/help or maybe was the cause, idk.

When I first walked in the restaurant smelled like something was dead took a while for someone to come out of the kitchen and seat us. We ordered two entrées and an appetizer fresh rolls were decent The two main entrées were pretty bad. The portion and the taste were substandard for the price I was charged

I have eaten here many times and have always enjoyed the food. The service is great too!!! I do have some dietary concerns and they have always been very accommodating with my orders. I have yet to try anything on the menu and not like it. I would certainly recommend going there if you haven’t already.

I don't eat very much Thai food, but it's my girlfriends favorite. We weren't familiar with the Thai restaurants in Rockwall and just accidentally found this one. We ordered beef garlic lovers with fried rice. The absolute worst food my taste buds ever encountered. The beef was gray, tasted like someone washed their feet and used the water to boil whatever kind of meat it was. The rice was steamed, and gummy like it was cooked 2 days ago. We took a couple of small bites and called the waitress over told her we were leaving and why. With the drinks the meal was gonna be $40.00. There was no way that I was gonna give one cent for the meal that I wouldn't feed a dog. Will never go back and will try and discourage anyone from wasting their time and money!! If I could give negative stars I would give as many as possible!!

Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon! We have always loved great Thai food but this place was absolutely horrible. There was a total of four customers, and this included the two of us, in the restaurant and when we got our meal we were extremely disappointed. The beef appeared to be boiled and overloaded with bell peppers. The sauce was not that of authentic Thai cuisine, but watered down gravy. Also, the meal was supposed to come with fried rice and we received steamed. We both were going to try to have an open mind and give the food a try. We both shared with the waitress that the food was not good at all and that we were not going to pay for something that was not good. I would take precautions before considering this hole in the wall.

I love Thai food. Just moving to Texas and still looking for any restaurant have a best food for my family’s taste. When I found this restaurant at thr first time it is so delicious, the spice is good the exact amount. We finish our food ofc because it’s good. But when I came back today, omg it’s turn to be the worst food & service that I’ve ever have. I know thai food will be spicy, our country serve food with spicy things too so we could handle spicy ofc. We ordered fried rice and pad thai with medium spicy like number 2 and we even told the server we want it mild because we don’t want the spicy change the taste of the food. But when the food came the food color is soo red and have red chilli all over it we don’t taste anything just spicy. We told server that it’s too spicy we cannot eat it and she just offering get white rice to mixed it with the spicy food instead cook the new dish, we be like what? After my husband get angry and not touching the food at all, finally they agreed ask to recook BUT when the new dish is coming, it looks like they WASH THE RICE and recook with that same rice but been washed. Is it disgusting? The rice is so wet even taste like uncooked rice. My husband is too tired to complaint again and not eat it, just pay the bills because even the waitress says she can’t do anything and just kept say sorry and we really don’t want to make a scene that time, cause we just do a lot errand today with our kids and we want to have a good dinner to end our day but it does ruin our day😭 fortunately, the appetizer is good but once the server ruin the sauce they gave wrong sauce. Maybe the cook is different person that is why the taste SOO DIFFERENT. should do more better or please let whoever cook when I came first time on lunch back. He/she did really good job than whoever cook today, I’m just being honest.

I placed a phone order after reading the online menu provided by google AND asking the girl who took my order about the ingredients in the appetizer I wanted. She told me that the only meat it had in it was shrimp. That WAS NOT THE CASE. I have not eaten land animal since 2016 and specifically pork since 2003. This had minced pork meat!! I went up to the restaurant after someone answered my call then pretended they couldnt hear me and Mai defended the girls mistake saying she did not tell me that and I did not ask.😲 Lies! The little girl also messed up my thai tea order by leaking the boba out and saying I had to ask for it. But according to the menu, it was included!! 😠

The service was terrible and I have gotten sick by eating this pork meat. Although Mai insisted on refunding my money, she did not ask for my order number, name or card. I will be watching to be sure they dont include my receipt in their deposits tomorrow and will return DAILY until i get my money back. DO BETTER!!😡l

Ordered shrimp fried rice to go. Im just going to say the portion size seemed small compared to every other place I’ve ever ordered from. I also ordered spring rolls. When I opened bag there was no peanut sauce I asked about it and the lady was super rude and said that was a DOLLAR extra. This was after I had already paid. She just stared at me with a nasty look.
No wonder there was no one in the place at dinner rush. Not going back.

These guys are amazing. They moved to garland closer to me and I couldn't be happier.

It was a quick trip to Texas that happened a couple of months ago, and now looking back, I’d like to write a review about this restaurant. My friend who lives close by took me to this restaurant. Being a Thai food lover, initially I didn’t have a high expectation. However, I still remember that I’m a bit surprised by how good the service is, and, most importantly, how delicious the food they serve there… It’s a family business owned by a Chinese immigrant family, and they work very hard to keep the place clean with great service!

Very disappointed! After many years of going here, today was a complete turn off. Seems they are now following the trend that so many other Thai restaurants are these days, less food for the same or higher prices than before. I am not a big person, and I did not leave full. The food was not as good, and the portion noticeably smaller. I called them out on it, and they said the cook was the same, but they did admit to the smaller portions. Go back to your roots and make things right if you want to keep your loyal customers.

Have been eating here for years and the food is always amazing! They serve the best Tom Kha soup I have ever had (and I have had versions from California to Washington to Florida).

Our food literally had two bugs in it (extremely disgusting). My stomach is queasy as I write this review, even tho my wife noticed it in her food.
Even without that, the food was bland, like really bland compared to other thai places in the DFW area. I was extremely disappointed. This is the first 1 star I have ever left in my life, and I am a local guide (Ive written many reviews). I ordered delivery and the delivery was otherwise timely.

EDIT: Changed to 2 stars because they refunded the order and were professional about it. I hope this was a mistake and not something that happens often.

Best Thai food in town

I’ll pass. I love to give reviews at any place that I visit if I feel warranted to do so. While I did want to try this place out, unfortunately I didn’t get the opportunity. Yes, the one waiter girl did speak however it appeared she may be new. With that being, there was only maybe three couples and one table of about 10. If you can’t maneuver around to handle one big table along with one measly to go order I’ll just go back to Basil Thai. It took extremely too long with maybe the head waiter lady or owner not sure to show the new waiter how to enter every single item in the system. Even the guy at the back came and asked has she been helped. The new waiter said yes she’s a to go order while continuing to enter items. Just some positive feedback. If you have a new waiter, a big order is NOT the time to show how to enter items in when you have someone waiting. So after they enter tons of items, I asked well I’d assume the wait time will be long now? She shrugs and says yes probably at least 45 minutes. This doesn’t include the 15 minutes for their training on the register to take place. I kindly left.

Mixed impressions about the waitress who initially was in her cell and did not greet us. We sat, I turned around to make eye contact, and she brought the menus. She was friendly and in good spirits and made jokes, so it wasn't a deal breaker. However, I can't get excited about any Thai food that does not use Thai basil in it. The fresh rolls were disappointing, lots of lettuce, lacking in flavor and no peanut sauce.

I didn’t even make it 2 steps into this place before I walked right out. My first impression of this place was very bad, the stench you smell as soon as you walk into this place is overwhelming. It’s a no thank you for me.

Walked in and there were four dirty tables. Sat down and received two glasses of water about 10 minutes later. Another table left so add another dirty to the list. Received our appetizer and subsequent dinner items. Tables still not cleared. After about 40 minutes total they were cleared but not wiped clean. I wonder what the kitchen looks like. From the noise or appears there are employees back there. Guys they don't clean.
Now to the food. Pad thai was good but my veggie stir fry with chicken was bland. The chicken in particular has zero spices to it. Tastes like boiled chicken.

Overall disappointment. Sadly, We are not coming back as there are better choices elsewhere.

Everything is so good here

We love Thai food, but this wasn't legit Thai. Everything eas very bland, even when listed on the menu as "hot." My Pad Woon Sen was supposed to have noodles (pad). There were a few noodles at the bottom, and it was served with a giant pile of rice, which was weird. The Amazing Curry was definitely not cooked well. The spinach wasn't wilted, so needless to say the beef was not cooked either. Service was sub par. We asked for prik nam pla, and we had to go to the counter to ask for it again, because it was never brought. We were never checked on after the food was served. A check was brought with no pretense of caring how our food was. This was by far the worst Thai food experience we have ever had, although my husband liked their bamboo toothpicks.

This is one of my favorite Thai spots!! The service is great and food is the best. Highly recommend!

Due to the shortage of staff, the waiting time will be a little longer on weekends, but the delicious food is worth the wait. The food is still as good as the new management. I will come back again with my friends and family.

This place is under new management now and it has changed for the worst. They turn off their phones and online ordering so you have to go in person and wait almost an hour for your food. They are disorganized and their customer service is awful. I miss the old owners that created a Rockwall staple because this place no longer is what it was!

After 15 years of regularly visiting Koung Thai for delicious food and welcoming atmosphere, I will never go back. After waiting over an hour for a pick up, rice was mushy, chicken was boiled and added as an afterthought, and flavor was nonexistent. Such a shame to see a restaurant fall so far.

New management has not done well. The family meal is more expensive by 25%. The Thai fried rice was steamed. They turned off the phone orders because and I quote, “We don’t want more orders.” They did not tell me my order was going to be an hour late and when I asked for my money back they assured me they were packing it for an additional 30 minutes. Dine in patrons were even worse off. Loved it for 15 years now need to find another place for my Thai food.

I'm a truck driver and had stopped through for a different type of food. It was absolutely delicious! I'm sad that these guys are relocating. The atmosphere was very homey! Looking forward to new location information!

Update! I had to go to counter and pay. Informed the lady server that we had cold meat in the pad thai and the pho wasn’t edible due to tough meat.

I had the "amazing curry". It was mid, from presentation to taste. You can just tell it's not exciting. The curry tasted more like peanut butter than Thai.

The atmosphere was dead on its busiest times. It's so odd the other reviewers are saying it's authentic. It's so sad... You can literally tell by the look of it in person and in the reviewers pictures.

0 aroma, the kitchen is super quiet. Food is like baby food or canned. Big red flags.

All the appetizers are great. I still love the summer rolls over everything else. The Amazing Curry, The crispy duck, the pad kee mao are all super delicious. Ask for the spice level to be added with fresh Thai chiles. It adds a new level of hot and delicious. The purple sticky rice is the best as well. I've been going here for well over a decade and they always rock. One of the best Thai food restaurants in DFW as far as I'm concerned.

The brown sauce they use to cook it is so flavorful and goes really well with the dish, after I've finished the beef and veg, my husband scooped up the rest of the brown sauce & ate it with leftover rice, it tastes really good. He got the pineapple fried rice with chicken and added broccoli, it's different from another Thai place we went to in Richardson that also had pineapple fried rice. This one had added nuts and raisins, which were a bit unusual for us. The raisins surprisingly went with the pineapple and added to the flavor of the dish. Service is very friendly as well, they bring out your food quickly.

Last evening was our first time here. We were pleasantly surprised and impressed. The place was busy (a good sign) and the wait staff was friendly and helpful. The food came quickly and was delicious. Keep up the good work. A+

Kuong Thai is on a different level in terms of quality. Tastes fresh and you can tell entrees are cooked to order. The food really speaks for itself here because it’s just that good.

One of my favorite places to go either to eat in or take out. Their panang curry is delicious (my advice is ask to make it less spicy), and I've had their pad Thai and Pad Ba Mee as well which are both nice and filling if curry ain't your thing then.
Their beer is good as well, and cheap too, it's called Singhai I believe.
Good regular place for us.

Service is great. Relaxing place. Warmed Sake' is tasty. Coconut Thai Basil shrimp soup, delicious, Spring Rolls , delicious.

Moved away to California and cannot find a thai place anywhere close to as good. Never had a bad meal here, and tried a large majority of the menu. Owners are great and food is awesome. Beef krapow thai style with a fried egg is one of my favorites.

My girlfriend and I were very hungry and they were cleaning up to close. They let us in and made us some of the best Thai food ever, and they know what hot is. Their hot is not play play hot, its really hot.

This is the best Thai food in Rockwall. We had the panang curry and yellow curry, and crab rangoon. It was so good, not watery, great selection of vegetables, and on point with the flavor! They will make it real Thai spicy if you ask and are serious. Real Thai food is my comfort food and I'm so glad I found this place.

Amazing Thai food! My fiancé and I thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience, waitstaff was attentive, and friendly, food was hot , fresh and delicious! Great place to dine, we will definitely add to our go to place list!

Wow. I honestly don't know how to feel about this place. The food is actually delicious but the service is something else. We have been here a few times for take-out and everything was delicious and great. However, we decided to stay and have lunch at the restaurant and we felt extremely unwanted. The staff was very rude and impatient with us and never once checked on us. Not once. The worst part though was the contrast in how they were treating others customers. Everyone else was getting friendly smiles and being checked on, we were not. We ordered our food and waited a very long time. It was so bad. Another table ordered 5 minutes AFTER we did and got their food much sooner than we did. I noticed that table had ordered the same appetizers as us, again about 5 minutes AFTER we ordered, but got it much sooner. They finished their appetizer and got their meal and we were still waiting. We finally got our food appetizers, mains and dessert all at the same time. That was the last time the waiter came to our table until she brought the tab. We weren't even finished with our entrée when she brought it, it felt like they were kicking us out.

All in all we felt extremely unwelcomed and uncomfortable with the dining in experience. I'm not sure what it was but we were the only ones experiencing this as far as I could tell. We now call in and pick up our order because the food is quite delicious but the service is horrendous. Dine in at your own risk.

Best restaurant in Rockwall! Great service, amazing food, wide selection. Highly recommend!

This place was incredible. The crab Rangoon was very different and made with real crab. The basil fried rice was delicious with just the right amount of heat. My partner really enjoyed his vegetable pad Thai. Both meals were well balanced with lots of veggies. Highly recommend!!

So thankful Rockwall has another quality restaurant to add to our list. Their care for the customer is sincere even to the point where they brought samples of each curry to help in our decision. Each dish had its own fresh flavor. Learning that you can't go wrong with any item on their menu. Is now one of our top places to go.

The food is amazing. Very friendly staff even though it took awhile for my food to arrive. But short staffed like every where else during the pandemic. The soups are so good. Ate here for lunch and dinner. Pad Ka POW was my favorite.

Serios about heat component, choose wisely. I chose the green curry and found it to be outstanding.

Not sure why this place gets 4+ stars. Had Masmusan (spelling) curry with seafood and chicken. The curry was salty with no taste, no seafood and no chicken, hell even lacked vegetables too. The egg noodles were prepackaged stuff you buy from walmart, again zero taste. Waste of 20 dollars. Hands down worst thai food I had in Texas and we had some really bad thai places here.

The Host did not wear a mask the whole time when we came in there were not many people but the restaurant got crowded and people were seated next to us and behind us less than 6 ft so I became very uncomfortable we got one Curry dish and a fried noodle dish the dish did not taste like Curry and the additional beef that we requested was tough with no flavor. The wait staff was friendly and did wear masks but I won't be going back for a second time.

Recently discovered Pad Thai , damn why did I wait so long to try it.The chicken pad thai here was awesome . the peanuts gave it a nice texture . I only started with level 2 heat , which was still spicy for sure. Can't imagine going past a 3. wimp I reckon.Thanks Koung Thai

Very good Thai dishes. I ordered from the party menu and took it home. A small tray that should feed 5 or 6 people was very generous and probably could've fed 8. Chicken fried rice was a big hit with the family, and fresh Thai Spring Rolls were excellent. Staff was friendly and brought my big order out to the car. Will definitely come back.
