Thai eatery with spartan decor offering curries, noodles, soups & more for dine-in & takeout.
Thai Lanna Authentic Thai has delicious food and it fills you up. This is my new favorite Thai Restaurant near where I work. I got the sweet and sour shrimp with rice. About 8 jumbo fried shrimp with vegetables ranging from mushrooms to broccoli in a nice thin sauce. The food came quickly and is still hot from cooking. They have curries, soups, fish, beef, and other food in the menu. Having been to Thailand, this food is authentic.
I went there for about a year and the food was excellent every single time. Then after that they began to fall off and had steamed rice that was a ball of mush, and the flavor level and food texture/quality changing each time I went. The last time I went they brought me room temperature food. I'm debating whether I will ever try them again now.
Very good food with a very friendly staff! It’s a small little restaurant tucked away, but it has big flavor for a good price. This was my first visit and I only tried the lunch special Crispy Ginger Chicken, but it was very good. I lived in Thailand for 4 years and I would say that this is an American play on a Thai dish, however, it had all of the authentic flavors. The other items I saw coming out looked more classic. I wish the egg roll was a traditional Thai spring roll (small and fried with glass noodles in it). The egg roll was still very tasty. I plan to try more dishes next time I’m back, which will be soon!
Very near restaurant. Very well priced menu and value for money. They have curry combos for lunch with are straightforward selections from a quick bite. I ordered the Thai redcurrry served with an eggroll and veggies as sides. Tasted really good and easy on tummy.
Will visit again while I am in the town!
I had the yellow curry with chicken lunch special and omg. Hands down the best I've ever had. You know when you're full? And you know you have to move around, get hot after you eat but it's so good you just keep eating? That was me on half a serving. it was totally worth it and I'm so glad I get to have more for dinner 😍

Excellent service and food 👏👏

I went with a large work group, and nobody could stop talking about the food.
I've had most of the various curries and noodle dishes all fantastic. I came here today to compliment the dumplings. They look like shumei but they are so good ridiculous good
I met up with some girlfriends and it was the cutest restaurant. Everything was so delicious 🤤 my favorite was the Thai tea, crispy tofu, and the mango rice dessert. The rolls were also really delicious. I actually just came back and did take out for my husband and it was just as good. I would rate them higher if I could!
I've been here several times. The food, service and atmosphere is always great. I've never been disapointed. I rarely give 5 stars but this place has earned them.
Excellent

Clean interior and good service
The WORST Thai food we’ve EVER EATEN!!! This place had great reviews. But our server did not know what was in the dishes, whether the vegetable Pad Thai had tofu or if the Basil chicken had ground chicken. We’re Asians coming from Chicago, we were excited to try Asian food in Houston. The red chicken curry sauce was thin like water, and served with frozen vegetables (broccoli, zucchini, carrots, etc) same as the Pad Thai and their version of spicy was a SWEET gravy. They had to heat up the rice, I guess because it didn’t come from a rice cooker. To make matters worse, after driving 18 hours from Chicago, we were STARVING and could not eat the food (as much as we tried, WHO PUTs BROCCOLI in THAI FOOD!!!!). What a disappointment!!!
I've lived in the area more than 30 years and this hidden jewel is still my favorite restaurant. The chef, Pim, makes delicious, authentic Thai dishes, may she live long and prosper.b
Hidden gem
I did not dine in but the food is always tasty and we get adequate service
Excellent, fresh food.
This is the only restaurant in Houston I will had Thai food , cashew crispy chicken my absolutely favorite!
Food been good for years
The food was so good! We are avid Thai food consumers. We had the crispy ginger chicken and the pad se ewe. The crispy ginger chicken was perfectly done with just enough crisp. It was more sweet than ginger, but we got a subtle hint of ginger when eating it with the rice. We also had the Thai tea, which was good and not too sweet.
I've been eating at Thai Lanna for over 10 years now and I can say this is still hands down the best thai food I've ever had. The Cashew Ginger shrimp is AMAZING and the cheese rolls are phenomenal as well! Everything has an unbeatable price tag, and I hope they stay open forever!
Fantastic pad Thai. Very good. Thank you!
Unfortunately I was extremely disappointed in the red curry. It was completely flavorless despite asking for it to be spicier than what it comes. It wasn't even red, almost white/yellow. If I didn't know better I'd think they prepared the wrong dish, but clearly this wasn't the case. The chicken was flavorless as well. The lady serving was extremely nice, but the food wasn't it.
Try the crispy ginger chicken !!
Went here and had a lovely meal tonight with my mom & sister.
Every single food item I tried here has been top notch. Ginger Chicken, Ginger Tofu (it had the consistency of pork, unbelievable!), etc.
The Thai Dumplings & Cream Cheese Rolls are the greatest appetizers I've ever had at an Asian restaurant.
A hidden gem of Houston.
Food is always delicious! My favorites are the steamed dumplings, crispy ginger chicken, and tiger cry salad. The women who work here are super friendly as well! I highly recommend!
WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! This used to be a premier Thai restaurant that I gladly referred everyone to. My last 4 visits over the last 90 days in 2023 were a waste of money and time. The prices are up 30% and the ingredients are down likewise in variety and quantity. The cashew crispy tofu no longer has cashews (you can add 8 cashews for $2) and broccoli seems to be the only veggie with this meal and the red and green curry meals were watered down and soupy and the only veggies were broccoli. The worst! This seems like a different restaurant altogether. Removing my 5 star rating and downgrading to a 2. So sad. I will not be back.
I used to love this restaurant for the last 4 years, but this lunchtime visit was not that great, the curry was watery, the " vegetables" was all broccoli. $13 for lunch specials.
I had the yellow tofu curry and it was full of flavor! Definitely coming back for more 💛
The food at Thai Lanna was OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! The flavor explosions, authentic taste, and the freshness...OMG!!! We will definitely be back this week to try more!!! Lisa is a waitress at Thai Lanna, and she was nothing short of amazing!! Thanks, Lisa, for all your menu recommendations. You were spot on!!
Great service, and excellent food!
This place might not look like much from the outside, but it is delicious! I had the crispy ginger tofu, and I just need the recipe please. How do they get the tofu to be so crispy!? Definitely satisfying. Fresh food, clean dining room, attentive service.
Food and service is great as always. Lisa does a great job and I highly recommend the Crispy Ginger Chicken
Tiny gem found on a night when we were waiting for traffic to die down. The food was amazing, and we will certainly be visiting again.
Always delicious!
This place is seriously the best! Custom Cashew ginger shrimp with fried broccoli is one of the best dishes I've ever eaten!!! Its so good that when we order it at work, the entire staff gets the same dish.
Wonderful food and service. Will be back again and again.
We went there for dinner and we loved it, then I called next day to make an order for lunch and the owner treated me horrible, like never ever any restaurant staff treated me before, good food, horrible service 😩
Love the Crispy Ginger Chicken!! Wish they'd bring back their Massaman Curry to their menu
Flavorful food ,good service
I just moved into the neighborhood and tried them out and they ate the best Tai food restaurant I have tried ever I keep coming back for more
I had their panaang curry which was very basic, no veggies. Just a few lemon grass leaves as a topping. I ordered it with chicken which was also very basic. It was like canned chicken cubes heated in a microwave, no flavors. Overall, service is excellent but my experience with the food and their prices were disappointing.
The food is amazing. Especially the ginger tofu.
Great food...
Now I will say the taste of the food was pretty good, but I ordered the panang chicken curry and literally it was just chicken and curry not a single vegetable. Ive never had a panang curry that didn't have vegetables in it. Probably wouldn't order from here again.
Very good food. Fresh and fast. Service.
I know it may sound ridiculously boring, but I love the chicken fried rice here. If you aren't aware, Thai fried rice isn't the same as Chinese fried rice. Be sure to use the fish sauce and peppers with the chicken in the fried rice! Superb!! 😂
Love this place. The crispy ginger chicken is delicious.
I love this place! The food is always good!
Crispy Ginger Chicken! You're welcome!
Their pad thai is absolutely amazing!! I highly recommend this place for take out or dine in.
The taste, I'm very impressed. I'll be back over and over again.
We also had red curry and chicken satay and those were ok, but pad thai was the bomb.com!
Our family loves Thai food, this was our first time trying Lanna Thai and it didn’t disappoint! I am vegetarian and was really happy to see many Tofu options as well as a few I could tell were gluten free. I got the Larb Tofu and the soft tofu spring rolls. The salad dressing was delicious, a mix of sweet and savory, the salad was fresh and the tofu nice and crispy.
My son got the chicken fried rice and it had a very generous amount of chicken, onions and yellow peppers. My husband got the chicken pad Thai and he said it was very good.
We all agreed that we would definitely get takeout from here again!
Best pad thai i've tried outside of Thailand yet.
The most underrated restaurant, the food is just perfect and you'll be addicted 😁
😯 I honestly was just expecting your basic (fortune) cookie cutter asian food. Nope! I got the lunch special: crispy ginger chicken with an egg roll and veggies. They veggies were asi asi, but the chicken and the egg rolls 🤯were nothing short of absolutely delicious. Both were light and crispy. I’m not an egg roll person but that was the best egg roll that was ever created in the history of mankind. The chef’s only purpose in life is to cook egg rolls and crispy ginger chicken, Geez. I can’t wait to go back and try the other dishes. I’ve been in Houston for 14 years and as a “Chinese Food” connoisseur I can say that this is the best “Chinese Food” (its Thai 😂) in Houston, oh and better than New York and all of the other Asia Towns that I’ve patronized. I have spoken!!!
Food is so delicious and the wait is not long at all. Always in the mood for Thai Lanna.
Delicious Thai food served.
Recommend the currys, ginger chicken, salads, and noodles.
Owner is a wonderful chef!
Not only is the food so friggin good but the owner is so friggin dope. She gave my husband advice for gambling and having a good time...I will Def be going to Louisiana now lol. The food is amazing the cheese rolls I could eat all damn day and the sauce that goes with them...bisch please. The ginger chicken is my favorite dish next to the masseman curry. I get the curry without the meat and that is the best curry you will ever have. Has a sweet flavor and you can taste hints of coconut and peanut it's delicious. My husband swears by the Pad Thai!!!
I wasn't impressed with this Thai food at all. I am not sure why this place is rated so high. My guess is that most of the reviews are old or people have never tried good tasting Thai food.
The server was extremely nice.
I have tried many Thai restaurants in Houston and overseas. This place has nice comfy feeling but they need to fire the chef that was probably not Thai at all.
The chicken tasted like it was not cooked all the way and with some weird taste like freezer burn.
I stopped in for a quick lunch and it was perfect! I had the $12.99 lunch special with spring rolls appetizer, and a tea. The food had wonderful flavor, was very fresh, and out the door after tip I had all of $20 invested. The portions were perfect and the staff was friendly, attentive, and helpful. This little Thai restaurant will be on my regular rotation now.
Always the nest little hidden place!!! Love her food!!! Will always come back!!
Just OK. I’ve had green curry around the world but never with broccoli in it. Wasn’t my favorite. May try something else to give them another shot.
Quick, friendly and delicious! Cheese rolls and the yellow chicken curry both had great flavor!
The food is extremely delicious it deserves 5 stars but the service is not great at all. It’s service is a 1 star max 2. There is only one person to do it ALL and she is always in a bad mood with an attitude, only reason she has business is because she cooks GREAT! Food is top quality!
Oh yummy this food is like homemade if I new what homemade Thai food was but it is delicious every time I eat there and that Thai tea great place.
Three words: Cashew Ginger Chicken
First time there but definitely nit the last.
I Ordered cashew chicken ginger and when I picked up she said we don’t put cashews because they are expensive, then change the name! Rude way they speak to customers...
Decent thai place and food was average.. nothing was super extraordinary!!
The Cashew Ginger Chicken is the way to go, hands down a personal favorite.
Great place for Thai food. I have so far enjoyed everything I've ever ordered here, but their Pad Thai is a little on the bland side. Everything else is good.
Great food and very friendly service!
It was excellent as usual.
Family owned restaurant, clean, delicious, fresh food and the service and atmosphere are great! I like when restaurants play music that goes with the theme/culture and the decor is also nice.
My favorite here is hands down the cashew ginger tofu! I’m a vegetarian so having the option to swap chicken for Tofu is great. Highly recommend trying this place out instead of whataburguer next door 😒 lol support small businesses!
Kind of sad Thai food. Thai is supposed to be comfort food??? Ordered the red curry to go. Not enough sauce to cover the rice. Thin watery sauce.. Underwhelmed. Just sad, no Joy. Disappointed..
We've been going here since we moved here 2 years ago, and the food is always fresh and delicious. All of the curry dishes are amazing! Ordering to-go is super easy and the workers are very friendly!
Good level of spice, good food and good service.
Fabulous food
Very good food.
Love this place! Amazing Thai food, BYOB and a great atmosphere.
Vegetarian Pad Kee Mao was by far the best I've ever had! It had tons of extra veggies and tofu. I am going to make this my regular spot!
SO delicious! The lunch special is such a great value!
Great place. 5 Stars. Service is fantastic!
The chicken spring rolls and then dumplings were really good!!! The soup was so good and healthy. TOfu was good. Love it all
Good food, but in these times, I prefer to have food delivered right to car. Very good food.
My favorite restaurant order the cashew ginger chicken
Great service, great food
Curry was watery
Ashley, angel, thank you
Good food, good service, good price.
I am so happy to find this hidden gem. Please if its busy the owner is the chef please wait. Its worth it!!! Ive been looking for great Tom kha soup. I finally found it! The yellow curry is absolutely wonderful. I love the decor and the paintings. Please go I think you will love it.
I don't know why on google and door dash it had 4 stars! This place was pretty bad!
The chicken curry was watery and chicken was rubber.
The basil beef was also like way to much soupy or liquid.
The pad Thai was good but the chicken was super over cooked.
The pineapple fried rice was good.
The soup had super rubber chicken . We ordered tum yum and tum Ka. The tum Ka was horrible probably the worst I've ever had!
I would definitely go somewhere else!! Not worth the prices for sure!!
I really wanted to like this place but I didn’t. I got the Pad Thai and and compared to other places, the portions were small. I could really tell that the pasta was over cooked and the tofu watery in the middle. The rice was definitely over cooked too. Pretty sure it came out of the microwave
Quiet place to eat
Only got half of my order. When i called to try and get the rest of my order, i unfortunatly talked to a women that was extremely rude, and claimed first that we didnt order the food we were missing, afterwards when we Said we had the receipt, she claimed they ran out. Definetly not coming back to this place.
This place is amazing I will be back I had the Basal beef what a great dish
The sign says"Authentic dishes". Nothing I saw was even recognizable as a Thai dish. As an" Asian restaurant", something still lacked.
Very tasty food and helpful staff that offered wonderful suggestions for our group, great service!!
Really good curry.
Great food. Not the friendliest staff.
I dream about their tom kha gai soup and their spring rolls. This is a nice quiet place for lunch or dinner and their food is always great.
Food is so good!
Been going here since my oldest son was 9...now he is 20 years old. It is my favorite restaurant and my kids favorite place to eat. The food is amazing here!!! There is no other place that makes Thai food like Ms. Pim.
Cashew ginger chicken is the bomb, wish they can improve with customer service.
Good thai food. Solid flavors, well balanced soup, spring rolls, and Ginger Cashew Chicken.
Great food and service, small and cozy, lovely staff
This is the best Thai food in town! Great atmosphere and great service!
Food was delicious!
Okay place very clean.
Amazing thai food!
Decent prices for lunch, but the food seemed stale. The noodles were all broken, the soup was lukewarm, but at least the service was excellent.
Street food thai market and Asia market thai are both better and more authentic than this thai restaurant.
Best cashew ginger chicken
Good food. Speedy service. Loved the Thai tea.
Oh my, best cashew ginger chicken but everybody knows that! They have a small lunch specials menu but the choices are delish! Their chicken curry is always perfect! Small, quaint place and worth the visit!
The Ginger Cashew Chicken is one of the best plates of food in the Houston area.
Awesome place. I don't have a lot of Thai food experience but Glad I stopped by. The food was worth the wait. I had the Thai coffee but you can B.y.o.b.
Good lunch specials
I ate at this restaurant all the time when i lived in Houston. Since i left Texas, I cant find any place to find my favorite cashew ginger chicken. When I was there, the staff was friendly, would automatically bring me my drink and knew what my order would be. Do yourself a favor and try this place. It may not be flashy but the food is great.
I drive way out of my way for their cashew Ginger tofu dish. It's wonderful as is the restaurant.
Good lunch tofu curry option. Lots of veggies. Nice waitress.
Great food and customer service
Friendliest service and great food. I would say it's above average Thai food in the area, but the quaint, less than crowded feel makes it a place you could easily make your regular Thai spot.
Unprofessional very unprofessional
We moved away from our favorite go to place in the Heights (Asia Market) and have been trying every Thai place in the area. Thai Lanna is our winner. While I have a favorite place for Panang, a favorite place for green papaya salad (both Nidda in Montrose) Thai Lanna is NOT subpar. Food is always fresh. Their spring rolls are unusually different with a thick rice paper wrap which I find delicious. The Ginger Cashew chicken, like everyone else is raving about is worth the rave. Their curries are good, the pad thai was decent. Sometimes food is better than others. We're eating our way through the entire menu, but do wish they would stay away from Americanized leaning chinese with some dishes and dive right into Thai where they shine including things like Kai Jaew (PLEASE!), and Kao Nam Tod, and Pad Kra Pao, instead of the usual stuff.
This is a great place to eat. I will be back.
Good food
The most delicious Pad Thai I have ever tasted. They also have various curry dishes, which are yummy as well. The appetizers are to die for. Sometimes service can be slow, but other than that no complaints here!
So good! If your looking for a good Thai restaurant this is the spot. Great service and delicious food. Try the yellow curry with chicken!
I could have enjoyed my lunch even better if it wasn't for a rude customer sitting in the corner by the window who had his cell phone so loud the Whole place could hear what he was listening to. Have you hears of bluetooth ear buds. Buy some!!
