Found this place based on someone's review, and I was not disappointed. We were seated immediately we walked through the door. The meals came out fast, and it was served fresh and hot. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a good Thai restaurant. We ordered from the stir-fry menu, the vegetables were not overcooked with a generous portion of protein which is ideal for one person.
Food:4/5 I loved their papaya salad and ginger tea a lot. Especially that flavorful lime in papaya salad. I have been craving for papaya salad since then. Green curry was okay… portion was good for the price.
Service: 5/5 the fastest service that I ever had. Server was friendly and smiley.
Atmosphere : 5/5 enough space to dine for lot of people.
Parking :5/5 free and plenty
Note: their sake was good and I though the price was reasonable compare to others restaurant. 375 ml = $15.
Great food. Service is quick and their food options are a wide variety.
We love their green curry and it’s usually our goto option.
The cheese rolls and spring rolls are also equally good.
We have tried the eggplant, pad thai, pad kee mao, papya salad and they’ve all been good.
Their Thai iced tea is really good but their Thai iced coffee is too sweet for our liking!
This place is extra special to us for personal reasons and we can’t wait to be back!
Well, we made advance reservations & drove 30+ minutes to this restaurant with high expectations. Reviews are very high, so we expected a nice lunch with our bunch of friends.
We just tried 1 Appetizer to start with, but were disappointed. So we ordered the main course. It arrived in less than 5 minutes, which was really surprising. 2 portions of Pad Ki Mao were cold !!! This is not acceptable. Even then, we took couple of bites & it had no taste. It was very dry.
We finally had to call the server & complaint about it. They just replaced 1 Pad ki Mao & brought a new one which was Hot, but still no taste.
Normally, I would doubt myself if it was a new dish I am trying. But Pad Ki Mao is our family’s preferred dish & we just didn’t like it here.
Green & Red curries were good, just like most other good Thai restaurants. Nothing spectacular though.
Thai Fried Rice we ordered was okay too.
Finally, we wanted their special dessert, but they ran out of it. May be it was just not our day.
We will look for a different Thai place next time .
I wanted to bring to your attention an issue we encountered during our recent visit to your restaurant.
We dined as a party of five and were surprised to find a large party fee included in our bill. While we understand and respect your policies, we felt this was unfair as we were not treated as a large party, and our experience left much to be desired.
Additionally, my father, who has strict health restrictions and has not consumed sugar for 16 years, became unwell after eating the dish he ordered. We had informed our waitress about his dietary needs and explained that he cannot have sugar or sodium. However, there seemed to be a language barrier, and she did not fully understand or communicate the dish's ingredients. When his meal arrived, we clarified again, only to learn after he had already eaten that the dish did, in fact, contain sugar.
This lack of clarity and miscommunication left us feeling very disappointed and concerned for my father’s health. We would have appreciated better accommodation and understanding, especially as we are a Hispanic family unfamiliar with the ingredients in Pad Thai and were relying on your staff to guide us.
While we accept your policies on tipping for large parties, the lack of attentive service and the misinformation we received made the added fee feel unjustified in this instance.
We hope you can address this concern and ensure that future guests, particularly those with dietary restrictions, have a smoother experience.
Thank you for taking the time to hear us out. I look forward to your response.
Stopped in for a late lunch around 2:45 today, place was pretty quiet. Their lunch specials end at 2:30 and happy hour starts at 3. I had the Tom yum noodles in broth and loved it - tangy, spicy, loaded with meaty and crunchy bits. Boyfriend had the drunken noodles and they were great as well. Service was friendly and attentive. Would happily return when in the area to try other dishes
We randomly googled this place on the way up to Cedar Park and saw it was well rated. We wanted something not too heavy, so it was great that the waitress recommended the Tom Kha with chicken and Green Apple Pompano (Whole Fish). Both were incredibly tasty, well seasoned, and fresh tasting. In fact, my wife and I couldn’t finish everything, so we took a good amount of Tom Kha and the green apple and cashew toppings from the fish dish back home as leftovers. My wife also ordered the lemonade which was a nice refreshing beverage with the meal. Special shoutout to our waitress who was wonderfully nice and gave solid options for us to choose from. We’ll definitely be back.
The person(owner?) at the front appeared to be confused. Initially, he assigned us a table, but then asked us to move to a different one just 10 minutes later.
We ordered Basil fried rice with a spice level of 7 and no mushrooms. However, the chef included mushrooms in the dish. After it was remade without mushrooms, they forgot to add the requested spice level. When we brought this to the waitress’s attention, she simply offered us chili oil for extra spice instead of correcting the order.
Overall, the service was disappointing due to confusion among staff members and subpar food quality.
Incredible Thai food. Great service. Next time I need Thai takeout I’m ordering it from here!
I placed an order for delivery. Received the order confirmation email. My order never arrived. I contacted the restaurant, and there has been no response.
I go to this restaurant pretty often, figured I’d order online and do to-go. No napkins/no utensils or even any sauce packets. Got the basil fried rice- pretty different from eating in.. just a lil disappointing
Vegan means no eggs.
Good food ... indifferent service ... pricey ... and an average environment.
Goes to 4 stars for take-out based upon the food quality.
Last 2 take-out orders have been missing items paid for.
It's the worst restaurant in the Austin area. My toddler was eating a chicken nugget that he had brought from home. One server lady came telling us to throw away his food in an insulting manner. I told her that my son will cry if we do that and also told her that when we come next time, we will not bring any food from home. but the lady was insisting on just throwing away his food. They lack a sense of humanity and respect. I have never experienced this kind of issue anywhere. Such rude and disrespectful people!

Poor service , they don’t resolve billing issues
Ordered the larb through door dash. I've eaten this all over the world. This is the worst I've ever tasted. Disgusting.
It was freezing cold in the restaurant. I got some Jasmine tea to warm me up and it was really good. The place was packed and the food was good but It seemed a little greasy to me.
I ordered some pad thai online excited to try one of the many diverse Asian food options within this small area of North Austin. I have had great luck with other restaurants in this same area but sadly I can't place Sip Saam in the same boat as the others. Namely for the service, or should I say lack there of. I walked into the restaurant and found it fairly slow there were a total of 3 active tables and one group being seated. There was plenty of staff, I believe I counted 4 employees in my time waiting for my food, which was ready on the counter upon my arrival. However, what I was not expecting was how rude the staff would be. 2 of the female servers looked me directly in the eyes with no real acknowledgement even though I had clearly just walked in. It took a third female who I can only assume was the manager to even say hello and provided me my order.
The food was alright and the portions were generous, but this experience definitely makes me worry at how things are when it's busy. I felt like the tip that is automatically "suggested" by their online ordering system was a very large waste of my money.
My coworkers and I got takeout from here today for lunch. It was one order of drunken noodles and two pad this. We all love and eat Thai food regularly and thought the food was terrible. The drunken noodles were dry and barely had any flavor. The two pad thais were also incredibly bland and the noodles were stuck together like a brick.
How does this place have such good reviews? We should have driven further away from the office and gone to Thai Cuisine. It's a million times better.
I'm going to start with, this isn't my favorite type of food, but went with a work group. The food was pretty good, but was a little pricey. I can't say anything negative but doesn't blow me away, but take that with a grain of salt.
Service was good, and the place was clean and nice. The group I was with loved it, so I would go with their opinion more than mine. I would have no problems going back again if they choose.
Elite spot, has quality + quantity food and they make a killer iced coffee.
Great thai food, big portions!
Authentic Thai food with great taste .
The food tastes great but a bit pricey for the portion. The amount for the food can be improved.
I love the place have been there a lot of times and I love the ambiance, the food and the lemonade 10/10
The food was ok at best but I've never really done Thai food so I have nothing to really compare it to. I am a chef though so I felt like more flavors could have been brought in my dish to help carry it. The presentation on the foods were great. Everything came out piping hot and the staff were very attentive.
I love the spare ribs
Hot food
Food is good but they only have to servers that does everything made their service too slow.
Food quality was bad. Delivered wrong order and didnt even offer to refund.
We tried this place out based on other reviews. Absolutely fantastic. We had Pad Thai and Spring Rolls with saki. Recommended!
I have ordered togo from here twice now. The first time it was really good but this time I tried their green curry, and chicken wings. The curry was chunky. The milk or whatever fat they used had curdled and gave off a very sour smell. Needless to say I threw it away and hoped the wings would be better. Flavor was not bad but the skin of the chicken was very soggy and it had ALOT of fat like an abnormal about of fat still inside the chicken. I do believe they buy cheap frozen chicken wings similar to Tyson wings. Over all staff is really nice but not nice enough to keep me as a customer. I would not recommend their food to anyone.
Ordered take out, food was ready fast! Chicken pad Thai was delicious and full of flavor. Staff is also very friendly!
Very disappointment regarding a recent lunch at this restaurant. During my meal, I found a white dog or cat hair in my food, which was both unsettling and unacceptable. I brought this to the attention of Ashley, the manager on duty, but unfortunately, she did not provide an acceptable resolution I expected.
On Saturday 21st Sep. 2024, we went there for lunch and ordered Tom Kha soup, pineapple fried rice and pad Thai. While the soup was good, fried rice and pad Thai tasted awful. I will think ten times before I go to this restaurant again.
I was excited to try sip Saam after a long break, but unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant. The food itself was a major letdown. The flavors were bland and lacked the vibrant taste that they used to be known for. It felt like little to no effort was put into the preparation leaving the dishes unappealing and unsatisfying.
However, what made the experience even worse was the terrible service. Yes, Austin population has grown quite considerably and Friday evenings are expected to be busy time for restaurants, but then I had to wait an unreasonable amount of time just to get the attention of a waiter. It seemed like the staff was either poorly trained or simply uninterested in serving customers. When they did finally show up, they seemed rushed and inattentive.
To top it off, while I was still enjoying my half-finished beer, one of the staff members took it away without even bothering to ask if I was done. This level of disregard for customer courtesy left a sour taste in my mouth, far worse than the food itself.
Overall, this restaurant was a huge disappointment, and I would not recommend it to anyone looking for good food or even decent service. There are far better options out there that deserve your time and money.
Gorgeous food….
Great gluten free and vegetarian options. My husband loved his pork skewers, which was a new dish for him. Excellent dipping sauce.
Absolutely some of the best Salmon curry I've ever had. Tender, flavorful and just downright delicious. Highly recommended.
Love that they offer a vegan version of their lunch menu special red curry with tofu without the fish sauce. It’s become my go to for work lunches. ❤️
My absolute favorite Thai restaurant. The food has just the right amount of spice and the Thai Tea is so creamy and delish!
Great spot
Food is great, but stopped buying now they no longer use Uber eats!
Pretty disappointed. Medium level spice is not spicy at all. The food was so so. The servers were to occupied holding up the front counter..I will not be back.
Stopped in for a late lunch around 2:45 today, place was pretty quiet. Their lunch specials end at 2:30 and happy hour starts at 3. Crab-fried rice has too many shells. Wings are way too small and don't taste like they used to! Unfortunately, I'm disappointed. The quality of the food has gone way down! Prices have gone way up, but food is down! Not worth the 30-minute drive!
Excellent selection of Thai food. Spice level varies each time I am here, but for regular visitors they have 1-10, and if you are adventurous they offer levels 11-20. I have been eating here a few times a month now, and my favorite has been the chicken pad siew. Last time they has a new menu with massaman curry which was also very good.
Sometimes it can get a bit loud, but it seems better toward the back on either side. Overall recommended place if you want Thai in the area.

Thai Fried Rice we ordered was okay too.
Finally, we wanted their special dessert, but they ran out of it. May be it was just not our day.
We will look for a different Thai place next time .
Ridiculously long waiting time for dine in. They didn’t serve anything (even simple appetizers) after 40 minutes we ordered. We left without eating so no idea about the food. Terrible experience!
The Pad Thai was some of the best I've had in a long time. Also love the Prik King with chicken.
One of the best Thai restaurants in Austin
Red curry that I dream about.
We randomly googled this place on the way up to Cedar Park and saw it was well rated. We wanted something not too heavy, so it was great that the waitress recommended the Tom Kha with chicken and Green Apple Pompano (Whole Fish). One of my favorite Thai food restaurants in austin. The Tom yum noodle soup is good. Satay, pad Thai, and some house special dishes like the fried fish are good and can be customized to be really spicy. Sip saam never disappoints me when I'm craving Thai food. Also, the environment is pretty nice and servers are pretty attentive.
Edit: Prices are too expensive now. Pad thai around $17 is too much.
Firstly, ! /d'akuju/ thank you to our server/waiter Alex. He was genial, friendly, and attentive. I had an impromptu pre-birthday dinner here. We had a late night drive into Austin and needed somewhere to eat. Asian is always a top cuisine option for my family. Sip Saam Thai was opened late and the menu option looked good. Well we arrived and were promptly seated outside on the patio under a beautiful tree. Our waiter Alex welcomed us and made some great recommendations. We ordered a few dishes and enjoyed all of our dishes.
It's a legit thai restaurant in terms of flavor profile and presentation. I've spent time tin both Bangkok and Chiang Mai and thus have a good grasp on real Thai food from these two regions. So I was pleasantly surprised when the pad Thai for instance was served wrapped in flat egg like I had numerously in Thailand. So that was a welcoming plus. The curry had a good depth of flavor and richness. We equally enjoyed the appetizers as well.
For dessert, we opted for the coconut and mango ice creams. A great way to end the meal and overall a great night. The ice cream I believe I made in house and come presented in a container that can be taken away if you so desire.
My partner who has spent time in both Russia and Ukraine was ecstatic to chat in basic Russian with the Alex. Alex was charming and made our family welcomed.
Overall, a great dinner experience due to the quality of the food, the service, and ambiance.
Shrimp fried in wonton , bail fried rice , Tom yum soup, green curry
Delicious fresh and authentic. Lots of options with veggies and and protein
Food was very tasty! Highly recommend for those who like great Thai food in Austin!
Service is always so great here! The nice waitresses working tonight were so sweet and even offered to take a group photo for my family and I as we celebrated my birthday. They even brought out plates, cake knife, and a cake spoon even though they were about to close. They were so kind and friendly from when we walked in until we left. My favorite place to get boat noodles. Definitely recommend!
We ordered from the vegan menu.
We got the prik king with tofu, pineapple fried rice, vegetable gyoza, and the panaeng curry.
The prik king was intensely good. At spice level 5/10 it was really flavorful and the perfect spiciness level. It was one of the few times I've actually enjoyed green beans, and the fried tofu was nice.
The pineapple fried rice was nothing to go crazy over at but it was pretty good if you like pineapple fried rice. Personally wasn't a huge fan.
The panaeng curry was really flavorless. Honestly, I've never tried it before so I googled it and I expected it to be a lot less... Bland?? It tasted like slightly sweet aromatic milk that was orange. Maybe it was just me, or there was an off day. Or maybe I should have gotten it with vegetables and not tofu, I'm not sure. But the broth itself just wasn't nice and Google said it's supposed to be thicker. Google said it not me. I wanted what I googled... With the rice it was horrid and I was too afraid to try it on its own (and that's not how you're meant to eat it anyeays... probably.) Anyways I feel kind of sad that I got the short end of the stick today. But it's alright.
Because the gyoza was really really good. It's not easy to find vegetarian gyoza and it's even less easy to find vegetarian gyoza that's really really good. I thoroughly enjoyed them.
Tldr don't get the panang curry DO get the prik king with tofu because mmm 🤤🤤
Service was good, and the place is pretty and clean. Not much else to say.
All in all averages out to a 4 even tho I would give the panang curry a 1/10.
One of the best Thai food places in North Austin.
I’ve got to be honest, this is the best Thai food you can get! I had the Pad Gra Prow with beef. The authenticity of the flavors, freshness of the ingredients, and the tenderness of the beef were exceptional! But then again, It’s what I’ve come to expect from Sip Saam Thai, Cilantro Grill and Lemongrass by Sip Saam Thai! Do your self a favor and stop by any of these locations and you won’t be disappointed! I eat at Thai restaurants all over North America and these are my favorite and it’s not by accident! The quality of food is the same at all of their locations. I love this place and any time I am anywhere near Austin I make it a point to eat here!
Food was really bad. There was no seasoning, no spice, meat tasted off and everything that was supposed to be crunchy like the egg rolls were soggy and flavorless.
We ordered take out and when we got home noticed that the food was incorrect and the appetizer that we order and paid for was not in the bag. When we went back the guy working questioned us like we were hiding the appetizer or something!! Luckily the ladies were nice and helpful.
The food is okay there are way better Thai places around
Good atmosphere and service. Excellent food. The curries are delicious and the appetizers are done with attention to detail regarding taste and texture.
Always great good. Never let's me down
a great experience!! i wanted to try a new thai place, and i was not disappointed- the food is exceptional! the papaya salad was huge and executed perfectly. the pad see ew was one of the best i've ever had, and i've had a lot. enjoyed my solo date with these items and a bottle of sake and left extremely satisfied. service was kind and sweet. i will certainly return with a date one day.
Hands down the best Tai food in the area. Their beef basil fried rice is the best I have ever had. It could use more basil but I love basil so much and any dish could always have more!
Expensive and mediocre. Out of all the Thai restaurants I’ve tried, this place was the most disappointing. I was expecting their food to be exceptional due to the higher prices, but it’s really nothing special.
They now provide half the amount of food for food that was over priced previously but I was willing to pay because it was good. This small serving is ridiculous. I will not be ordering again which is sad because I’ve been a loyal customer but not anymore.
Loved the yellow curry and coconut veg soup. Very refreshing.
I’ve eaten at Sip Sam many times. I love the food and the service is fantastic. I highly recommend this place😊
Great food and reasonable pricing
Yes they do serve authentic Thai dishes but that’s it. Flavor definitely not authentic. 6 out out 10 rating for authentic flavor. Pad thai too sweet, papaya salad too fishy and not slightly sweet and spicy, soups a bit bland, etc.
Still in search of authentic Thai here in Austin. Too Thai still #1. Too bad it’s in Carrolton, Tx. :-(
The Thai Beef & Meatball Noodle soup was so good. Just the way I first had it when stationed in Thailand.
Yum! That pad Thai hit the spot
The food arrived really fast and was very delicious, I loved it!
The atmosphere was what you'd expect from a restaurant that is located in a shopping strip, a little nicer.
With that appearance, I expected average food, but was pleasantly surprised. The ( lunch time) food was excellent.
I had gone to meet ex-colleagues for a Christmas lunch and we all ordered drunken noodles. You specify the spiciness from 1 to 10.
I chose 3 and it was flavorful, with a black pepper taste for spicy.
Others ordered levels 1, 6, and 10 all enjoyed the dish.
I'll try other menu items in the future, but I definitely like this restaurant.
I had the had the Pad Thai and it was heaven. I would say it's the best Pad Thai I've ever had. I think they use tamarind so it's a little sweet instead of fish sauce (I don't like fish sauce). Fresh, creamy, beautiful presentation and a generous dinner portion..I still ate the whole thing because it was too delicious not to.
This is by far one of my all time favorite restaurants in Austin! You can't go wrong with anything on this menu but I particularly love the yellow curry and get it almost 1x per week! Been coming here 5 years and I hope they stay forever!!
Had the red curry but the chicken was dry and was lacking flavor. The tom yum soup & vegetable gyoza were ok but still lacking flavor. Other places nearby are better.
Ordered the pad see ew lunch special and one of the curry’s. It was quite expensive at ~16$ each.
Unfortunately, the pad see ew was burnt and the curry’s consistency was similar to water. The biggest mishap surprisingly is their portions.
The amount of food they give you compared to how much you spend will have you thinking you’re eating at an amusement park.
Nice food! I would give a 5 star but the manager was super rude just because we didn’t tip. To be fair, there was not much that we ordered and the waitress maybe came to the table twice to deliver food and nothing else.
Great Thai food! A little pricey but seems to be normal price for Thai food in ATX right now.
I've spent significant time in Thailand and this is the best Thai curry i've had in Austin. Don’t sleep on the Kra Pow either.
barely any chicken in my recent order of panang curry.
Good Food!
This place is an extremely value for the quality they serve up at the price. Everything is plated beautifully and tastes amazing! Their Thai tea and iced coffee can't be beat. We hover around the spicy 4-6 level, but they accommodate all palettes.
Yellow curry tasted extremely rich and creamy. Best I’ve had so far. Must try!
Honestly, the best Thai I've tasted in Austin. Reasonable prices, clean business, and great ambiance. Staff are very attentive.
we had green curry and seafood soup..we took it to go and will definitely come back
Must try Thai restaurant !
Good Thai food in NW Austin. Their kabocha curry is one of my faves!
Absolutely delicious Thai food! The panang curry was super tasty & the mango sticky ice and handmade coconut ice cream are a must try. Celebrated my birthday here and they were nice enough to give a free treat. Highly recommend can’t wait to be back
It's sooooo good! Duck curry is always on point and we love the tom kha! Both of those broths are like the elixir of life!
The BEST green curry I’ve ever had. I had the seafood version with calamari, fish, shrimp, mussels and scallops. The curry was outstanding but the calamari and scallops were a little over cooked and rubbery.
Food was good but comparing the prices with quantity, I will say it could have been better.
Our favorite neighborhood place to eat! Authentic Thai food that is always good, comes out fast and is reasonably priced.
Possibly the best chicken satay in town. Loved the eggplant stir fry, too. The Tom Yum was solid. The rest was good standard Thai.
This is a wonderful hidden spot. No frills - just really good Thai. It is is in a local strip mall. The food was wonderful and the service was as well.
Got some takeout for lunch, the pad paak lunch special with pork. One of the few times I've been to a restaurant with no complaints! This is one of the best meals I've had in a while.
The coconut soup and the Basile rice was delicious 😋
After multiple attempts of getting properly cook food, I have given up. I will never use this location again.
This is the third time in a row, that the Thai beef jerky strips tasted like shrimp. It’s disgusting. Beef should not taste like shrimp. The only reason it’s happening is because they are not cleaning their grill. It’s nasty. To make matters worse, the beef wasn’t even fully cooked this time. Talk about not even trying.
In addition, I ordered the chicken basil rice, and the rice was not properly cooked either. It was a big ball of mesh, whether from too much water or not properly frying is hard to say. It was uneatable. 40 years of eating out at Chinese and Thai Restaurants and I’ve never had fried rice cooked wrong until this location.
I wish I could say it was a one time occurrence, but this has happened multiple times in a row. I’ve waited months in between visits, hoping a manager, or the owner would straighten things out, but there’s been no change. Consistently poorly cooked food.
My experience is the failure of the owner, the managers, and the cooks. For the price these guys are charging, there should never be anything wrong with an order.
One last thing, I did a pick up on my order. When I entered the restaurant the gentleman behind the counter, at the check register, never even looked up. He didn’t acknowledge me, and he didn’t say hello. He didn’t even check to see if I was picking up the right order. The guy said nothing. He never glanced away from his phone. Whatever it was, must’ve been really important, customers definitely aren’t.
Avoid this location.
Food was ok but very less quantity plus it was expensive. I ordered basil fried rice (brown rice) with tofu which came around 23$ without tip. Food was nicely spiced but rice was very less. Tofu was very bad (sticky and bland). Side salad was good. Wasn't full after spending 23+ $. Service was very good. Overall would recommend for one try only.
This is a solid Thai Restaurant. The plating of the food is eye catching. The flavor is good. Portion size for what you pay are generous. Reasonably priced. Location is not hard to access. Service could be better. Sometimes the mango sticky rice is not available. Overall a great place to come. One of our favorite regular places to eat.
Great experience overall. And really great food. Worth it
Great veg selections. Food is tasty and healthy.
food was good but very rude management
The dinner service was awful. Food is ok. Lunchtime is much better here. Oh yes.. they gave us a broken glass and did even care when it was brought to attention.
Also they used green color in green color that made the chicken green like in the photo. I’m from Thailand and the green color comes from the ingredients. Not artificial. Hope I won’t get cancer. Not recommended.
The food was excellent. Great service as well. Food was prepared pretty quickly. Plenty of parking at the parking lot. Recommend it.
Great, friendly service!
We have been here many times, and the food is always very consistent in flavor. We ordered the tom kha soup, and it was very good. The Thai tea is also very well balanced with the sweetness level. I very much recommend this place to anyone in the mood for Thai in Austin.
