Ka-Prow Thai & Sushi Bistro holds deep roots to Thailand and brings a variety of authentic and health-conscious dishes to Austin like the popular Pad Thai, Spicy Chow Mein and chef specials like Ginger Tilapia and Paradise Duck. Along with stir-fry and curry dishes, we seek to apply the fast-paced nature of preparing Thai food in a range of dynamic, exciting and flavorful ways. Beyond the quick movement of Thai, we also specialize in what we think is the artful and meticulous preparation of sushi by delivering traditional rolls as well as unique ones like Apple Blossom with spicy tuna, apple, and kampyo. We prepare our dishes fresh every day, are considerate of gluten and shellfish allergies and seek organic ingredients. We look forward to
Staff were really nice and friendly. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. The food arrived quickly and it was nice to receive a complimentary salad. My pad see ew was good but it was on the salty side and didn’t have the sweetness I expect from Thai food. The salad didn’t taste very fresh but it was free. The portions were generous and I overall enjoyed my meal.
We just ordered some of the sushi for pickup. It was TERRIBLE. Unfortunately, the restaurant is now closed for the night, so we can't take it back. But if we could, I would. There was a lot wrong with the sushi, but a few things really stood out:
- There was a foul, rancid taste to the crab in the spider roll. Not sure if it was burned, or if its gone off. I guess I'll report back if we get sick or not.
- The spicy tuna is BROWN. See photo. This is not fresh. Unfortunately, one of my dining partners actually ate a few pieces before I saw it. Here's hoping he doesn't get sick.
- The spicy crab roll is just a mess. The mayo is unseasoned and the crab topping is just everywhere. It looks nothing like the photo on the website. See for yourself.
Avoid at all costs. Truly the worst sushi I've had in Austin. $70 worth of sushi went straight into the trash.
This place is unassuming and approachable, and the food is great! Funny, we ordered take out one time and the spice level was pleasantly hot, but in person I guess we looked too pale to enjoy it, and the food had less heat than we got on a takeout. Makes sense, for sure, people probably send it back when it's properly spiced. But even mild, the flavors were amazing and the service on-point.
This place is incredible!! Went here for dinner last night on a whim and it was so amazing we ended up coming back today for more! Service is awesome, all the servers are super nice and helpful with recommendations, very attentive to allergies and food preferences. The atmosphere was wonderful, tonight they even had live music (a guy playing piano)! All the food we’ve gotten has been so super flavorful and perfect portions. We’re not from Austin but definitely will stop here whenever we are in the area in the future because this was just phenomenal.
(They also have a fish tank and the fish are so pretty and make me happy.)
From customer service to the food, this place was absolutely amazing. The menu was plentiful! I tried the drunken noodles (Pad Kee Mao) with a spice level 2 and it was delicious. The smoked salmon was a 10/10 alone, it had zero fish taste and the perfect texture.
Will return over and over again, 10/10 for me.
I ordered yellow curry and it was horrible! There were clumps of raw turmeric powder! The spices were not cooked. It just coated your pallet with raw, grainy spice. It needed coconut milk, or yogurt, but it was just bright orange uncooked spices! You can see the raw turmeric on my plate!!! Unacceptable
Amazing! Tried this restaurant for the first time and I truly enjoyed it all. The Thai iced coffee was soooo good! I had curry and fried rice with shrimp! Turned out to be delicious! My sister ordered duck and it also was so flavorful! I recommend this place and I would definitely come back. I would love to try other foods from the menu. Our server Woody was so kind and helpful with any questions we had. Simply great!
I was wondering how this place can be so empty on a Friday night and I realized why the sushi was not fresh more like H-E-B packed sushi. I ordered pad se ew very doll doesn’t have any flavor and they barely put any chicken. Seems like a nice people, but I will not recommend, They used to be better..
This place is great! Small feel with wonderful service!!!! We love to come here and never have to wait. The staff is so friendly and kind.

This place was really good except I don't like the foil inside of the to go boxes and I don't think there was any egg in my pad thai. I will definitely check it out again.
Expensive but good.
So grateful for all of the gluten free items here. Very delicious!

It was delicious and the wait staff was kind, patient, and informative. Thank you very much!
Super friendly staff and you MUST try the lettuce wraps
Delicious! Three chicken curry, miso soup and noodle dishes were exceptional. There was another soup-liked an egg drop maybe? Not my thing but still tasty. Jasmine rice was cooked perfectly. We'll definitely be back.
Delicious, reasonable prices, good portions, nice atmosphere, friendly employees- all around a great restaurant!
This is one of my favorite restaurant. Curry and flat noodle is great.
Delicious food recovered from Too Good to Go. I love this restaurant!
The Ka-Prow team did a fantastic job catering for our 20+ people crowd. 2 apps, 4 main dishes and 1 fried rice dish was a hit! I was able to turn down the spice level and they gave the chili sauces on the side. Everything was fantastic!
Wish I took a picture but here is what fed 20+ sufficiently, with some extra:
- Thai red curry
- pad ka prow
- pad se ew
- pad Thai
-cheese rolls
-egg rolls
- fried rice
Quiet, affordable, yet stylish
My family and I have eaten here a few times and have loved it every single time! Great food and amazing taste. I love all of the different options that they offer. We also have to eat Gluten Free (but do not have to worry about cross-contamination) and Ka-prow has multiple options for the GF friends! We asked for our Gluten Free items be bagged separately from our non-gluten free items and they did it! If we could give more stars we would. The service is always so good with friendly hosts/servers. If you want a sweet treat, try their thai ice cream and sticky rice!

I've gone twice in the last few weeks & the food & service were excellent. I ordered the General Tso Chicken both times. The chicken was tender on the inside & the batter & sauce were delicious. The vegetarian egg rolls were decent but a little greasy. The Thai Tea was yummy (but it's sweet, which I love, but YMMV).
The lighting is low, so it can be challenging to read the menu, but a phone flashlight saved the day).
Love Ka-Prow, consistently fantastic food, service, and atmosphere. The owners are involved and clearly care about their customers. Love the tofu and pad kee mao it’s so good
I don't how this place has such good reviews, the food was awful. There are much better Thai places to eat at. The Thai tea was burnt and undrinkable, the Thai Yellow Curry tasted nothing like it normally does and was bland, it had hints of spicy next but no actual flavor. The jasmine rice was over cooked and tasted like it had been cooked in old/reused water. Skip this place and try out Mam's instead.
May be it's my luck... expected authentic Asian taste, it fell short in the dishes I ordered. Thing about Asian food is the spices blend in, but here it was not so.
We love this place! Everyone is so kind and friendly and the food is delicious. Massamun curry, pad kee mao, and pad peanut are our go tos!
We were here for dinner and everything about this place was fantastic!
The food was tasted delicious, the portions were big, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the servers were friendly and checked our dietary restrictions many times.
Very friendly staff, and great food
Wow this is an amazing authentic Thai place , I love the Ka prow Gao, pad Thai and all the appetizers it really should be checked out
Loved it! Seriously, loved it.
Amazing food and a sweet family run business! I would definitely come back!!
Food.was really good. We enjoyed the 5 start spice. Kids loved the Thai rice! Great service
Came back a few years later. $15 for shriimp general tso with 5 pieces of shrimp🤣
First time trying. Had few pieces of hamachi roll for appetizer. The roll exceeded my expectation. I will try this place again to have sushi.
Fried rice was on point with right amount of spicy and the portion was very generous.
Pad Thai was also very good, but next time I’ll have to ask for extra spicy.
It looks like a small business and the staff were extremely kind. I will definitely be back!
Was craving some Thai food on my recent trip and decided to try this place based on the many positive reviews.
They do have a separate gluten free menu (and even asked when we arrived if we had any allergies/needed gluten free), however they do not have any dedicated space in their kitchen (to my understanding). They try to keep things separated, but can’t make any promises. The gluten free entrees are served are black plates (as opposed to white ones for regular gluten entrees). The pad Thai was ok, needed a little zest from the lime. The miso soup was very good, so nice to have gluten-free miso soup! I did have a mild gluten headache when I left, but I’ve been extra sensitive lately.
The staff was really nice and friendly, and even came out to the parking lot when I left something behind.
A delicious Thai food restaurant with amazing service! I had the drunken noodles (pad kee mao) at level 3 spicy and it was mouth-watering. My friend ordered the pad thai which was also fabulous, as well as the sushi rolls we ordered! Food comes out quickly and they have a large selection to choose from. Our server was wonderful; I'll definitely be coming back :)
Great food. Great atmosphere. Great owners.
I really enjoyed it!!
Food and atmosphere always excellent
This is the best Korean barbecue place in town. I recommend them the very nice and clean place to eat. I’ve been here a couple of times with my family. I read the short rib barbecue.
I used to be annoyed everytime they asked me if there were any food allergies for each entre I ordered. Now, I'm very appreciative of them for taking the time to make sure and explain what options are avialable. Especially since I now have reactions to gluten. They were also agreeable to make substitutions to meet my FODMAP diet. In addtion. the food is excellent.
My husband and I just went here and it was 11 out of 10! The food was so good. We ordered the Chef “O” Roll and the Spicy Grilled Duck (with flat noodles) and they were both very flavorful unique dishes. The waitress was very attentive and friendly. We are definitely coming back to try their other items. And please open a location in North Round Rock ;)
Food was great! They had a lot of vegan options and even Vegan Desert. Mango with sticky rice and coconut ice cream we're amazing!
I originally called to complain about the consistency of the brown sauce, as it was like super nasty tasting and so watery it was not edible on top of solid food. I have the picture of him walking off when i finally showed up in person cause he was hanging up on me after the payed for a meal.
Frequent eater of Thai food here. This is absolutely the best place in town for Thai and gluten free food. Also the best place for curries. The staff and owner are extremely conscientious of food allergies. My celiac daughter has never been ill after dining here, and they always give her such attention. Top notch all the way. I can’t recommend enough.
Our go-to Thai restaurant- we’re lucky to have found them!
Egg rolls were burnt and the chicken pad Thai was sub par, would not recommend this place although they are kind
Great tom kah and pad tai
Can't get much better than this. Gluten-free options vegan options it's just endless.
best sushi i’ve ever tried
Very polished and cozy space with Thai fare at good prices.
We looked forward to trying new restaurants and landed here last Saturday for dinner. Service was good and the place appeared clean. The food however was not so great. Sushi was overly fishy; dumplings and coconut shrimp were dripping with grease. The wings appeared to have been cooked prior to Saturday and warmed in a microwave and seared on a skillet. The Pad Se Ew was very underwhelming. Very disappointed.
Great food. The various rolls are awesome.
The food here is very good, they serve both sushi and some Thai dishes. I would probably come more if they had a gai pad king dish.
The service is excellent, absolutely 5/5 stars every time. One thing I dont like is they dont serve the food together, its first come first serve.
Nice and spicy
Pretty great food and the probably the sweetest serving staff I've encountered in Austin
Delicious!!
Delicious food with very friendly service. The hot and sour soup was full of flavor, with just enough spice to make it hot, but not too hot to keep eating it. The Thai Tea Crepe cake was cool and refreshing, which is not a typical cake flavor! The owner recommended it and we really enjoyed how it tasted like a cold Thai Tea with whipped cream on top.
Food and service were pretty good !
This is the first time we tried this place and we are really happy. Our waitress was really good. I wish I had asked her name so I could mention here. She was so sweet, helped pick us right dish and also helped us with our choices. Even though we had so many questions she was polite and kind. For appetizer we had the Vegetarian Egg rolls. It was so yummy and I found it really creative to add thin rice noodles into the roll. For mains I had the Khao Soi. It’s like a curry with noodles and for protein I chose tofu. My husband had the Ka-Prow Chicken. Both the dishes were really good. My curry smelled amazing. The presentation was so beautiful too. My husband said his Kaprow was super tasty and healthy and not very oily. We also had hot tea along with our meal. I had jasmine tea and my husband had green tea. It was a really good place with warm and cozy meals.
A definite must try place if you like good Asian food.
The best Thai around! So, so many gluten free (gf) options! Wonderful service and they take GF dishes extremely serious! All GF items come on a different color dish than non-GF items! Wonderful wonderful atmosphere, amazing food, great service!!!
The yellow curry is delicious but not the best I've had. A spicy level 2 was perfect for me. The flavor was good, and there was a good amount for a lunch portion. I didn't love the chicken though nor the onions which could have been softer. When I make yellow curry at home, I cook my chicken with the curry, use a little more coconut milk, use more potatoes and carrots than onions, and simmer everything for a while to soften up the veggies. Ka-Prow is heavy on the onion, and you can tell they make this fresh because the onions still had some crunch to them.
I guess I was hoping to find a yellow curry the way I make it. The price sure was right. I was out of there for under $17 with tip, and that's what other places in Austin charge for yellow curry. Also Ka-Prow uses the right ingredients: onion, carrots, and potatoes.
We picked up food to-go. It was a quick process. The Thai Curry was out of this world! Just the right amount of spice. Looking forward to trying other items from the menu.
My sister and I both are Celiac and if I get glutened my symptoms show within a short time. After one positive experience we had here, on 2nd Dec 2023 we visited the place again. My family and I explained about our allergy and were continously assured by the server that our food is gluten free and safe for celiacs. However, an hour into the dinner I passed out with sever stomach cramps. It's been almost a month and we both are still dealing with the effects of being glutened here. I will not recommend this restaurant to any Celiacs as they are (a) NOT CONSISTENT (b) IRRESPONSIBLE WITH GLUTEN FREE FOOD for celiac.
Top notch quality.great service.friendly staff.im not a big "review" guy...true culture..without the Petrie dish
Ka-Prow is the best! We eat here pretty often and I have never been disappointed. I love their fried rice especially though. I had never been a fried rice person before, I used to always go for noodles but they are so good! I love their noodles too! They are super accommodating for allergies as well as my husband has a peanut allergy and they are very helpful and nice about it. I highly recommend Ka-Prow!
The food here was fantastic, specifically, the roast beef masaman curry from the special menu. My water glass was never empty, the service was amazing! I am planning on coming back soon. Reasonably priced and overall a delightful experience.
This Thai place is 10/10!! Food is great, service is always great, love the mood and ambiance here. I highly recommend!!
Space is not huge, but perfect for you & your family to enjoy!
Pad Thai is my go-to. My husband always gets Green Curry & loves it as well!
We did spend about $40/ person. But it’s because we ordered Appetizers, Nigiri 🍣, Entrees , and Thai teas lol. We pigged out. All the above was worth every Penny!
Todo delicioso.
Very delicious!
Pound for pound the best dish I’ve had in Austin. The service and ambiance also added to that so much. This will be a new regular spot for me.
We have been coming here for years.. always great food and service.
AMAZING!!! There were 7 of us and everyone had an awesome experience! The food was delicious and the service was outstanding! I would highly recommend!
I love this place! They have a variety of gluten free and soy free options and the food is delicious. It's nice to go out to eat and actually have options.
Very good sushi and our server was really sweet!
Staff is so friendly. I ordered online 2 days back to back. The lady at the reception desk asked me if I wanted a water while I wait. The food came out in about 10mins. Spicy smoked salmon Sushi roll, General Tso chicken, yellow curry chicken, cheese rolls, Tom yum soup… all so delicious food. I also appreciate they have an icon in the freeway exit sign to remind you. I would highly recommend over any fast food joint.
The food is delicious, and they have a gluten-free menu.
We get takeout from Ka-Prow probably once a month. I love the pad thai so much that I've barely tried the rest of the menu. Also they wrap takeout in foil so it stays really warm, even if I'm late to pick it up.
Had the green curry to go and it was very delicious and spicy! My order was also ready when I arrived.
My wife and I love this place. Everything we have tried on the menu has been very delicious. Our favorites are Pad Kee Mao, Yellow Curry, Ka-prow street food and Ka-prow noodles.
The taste is very consistent and the spiciness is never overwhelming.
The service here is also very good. They are also taking your order and serving you with a big smile and are also very accommodating for any special requests.
Absolutely loved it, fit both me and my wife’s styles, she loves things incredibly spicy and I like them a little spicy
The wife is a picky eater when it comes to spice, you know the one that has a fancy for Carolina reapers, but this restaurant managed to satisfy her taste buds
As for me
Lvl one of spice hit my roof of spice and the food was amazing, we will definitely be returning
Besides who doesn’t like a chilled glass with their Sapporo
Dined in and it was a great experience. The service was appropriately attentive and there was a warm atmosphere. Food was high quality.
My first time and it did not disappoint. I was extremely happy with their service and food. 5 stars
Best food in town! Family owned and operated for over ten years! :)
Try the crab fried rice.
This is the perfect definition of “my local Thai place.” Are there fancier and more established Thai restaurants in Austin? Sure, Titaya’s and Thai Cuisine are good options.
But Ka-Prow beats out Sap’s and Madam Mam’s with an overall much more “local-friendly” feel, where the food has a great taste-cost ratio, the staff remembers you, and they have quality deals at random times.
Omg, where do I begin?! This place has the best food, especially for such an extensive menu and such affordable prices! The shrimp pad Thai, eel sushi, bacon fried rice, wonton soup, Thai iced tea, and spicy chicken curry were ALL a 10 out of 5!! The waitress was awesome and always "on it"; the place was very clean and romantical, and this is me and Babe's new fave in Austin!
Great portion size and quality 👌
Soup had been microwaved, the bowl was smoking hot but the soup was cold in spots. Sushi was just ok, shrimp tempura had no flavor or crunchiness.
Tried for the first time and we won’t be going back. Everyone was nice and service was good, but something about the food is slightly off. We went during lunch around 12 pm and I must say the service was fast and the food was fresh. The soup of the day (hot and sour) had an interesting taste and we could not finish it.. We tried to keep our hopes up for the main meal. Ordered general tso’s chicken and it was tough and honestly not the best I’ve had.. we also ordered pad see ew and it was good, but I was surprised about the up charge for Chinese broccoli. I was unaware and they did not tell me even when I was ordering that it would be a little extra until I got the check. Even then, the pad see ew did not have much eye appeal vegetable-wise. Before leaving, we asked for to-go boxes and I was a little upset that when I got up to use the restroom the server rushed in and grabbed my plate when I was away. I would have appreciated it if they waited for us to leave before taking the plates or asking if we were finished. They were fast and efficient. It seemed like they were more eager to get us out the door.
Delicious food, some of the best tom kha I've ever had. Allergen friendly (specifically gluten and dairy). Extremely friendly people.
Tried for the first time today. The food was fresh, fast and tasted great. The customer service was exceptional. We will be back.
Great authentic food , great service
My family loves KaProw. Personal favorites are the soft spring roll, and Pad Kee Mao. My children love their KaProw fried rice.
Kaprow is simply the best!!!! I've been going there for the past 11-12 years. I even have a roll named after me called the AJ Roll. Highly recommend it if you get a chance. Chef O, Amy and the wait staff are the best.
Been coming here for years. Great place. Always great food, service and atmosphere. Chef O is the best! We will be back soon!
Chicken spring rolls.. yum! Yum.. so good. The hot and sour soup was ok needed less cornstarch.. you can taste it.
This place was clean, food was great, and employees were friendly 👌
I had the yellow curry w/ chicken and the drunken noodles 🤤😋.
We’ve been ordering Ka-Prow via Grub Hub and IT’S CONSISTENT EVERY TIME! Always packaged so nicely! Foods always fresh, tasty and always RIGHT which means whomever is packaging the food checks and double checks again. Accidents happen and we’re reasonable, but it sure makes for a beautiful dinner at home when we get to enjoy everything we’ve ordered. Thank you Ka-Prow! And cheers to continued success!
I recently returned to Ka Prow and once again I received my food cooked to perfection. This time I ordered the crispy beef instead of they wonderful version of drunken noodles. I am not as adventurous as I probably should be with new foods because with these meals being so consistentind good I just want to stay with them. Generous portions means I usually take home another meal from leftover. nother great feature for many folks is that they make their food after establishing if you have food allergies. Your meal is prepared especially with your needs in mind. The Thai iced coffee is superb. My favorite place to eat! Service was excellent yoo. Nola
My favorite place for Sushi close to home. The AJ roll and the Longhorn roll are two we order regularly with the crab fried rice. The service is always good. Intimate space- reservations encouraged during busy times to avoid the wait. Well worth the wait though!
Been coming here for years, and it's always good food and good service.
I have been here a few times and the food never disappoints. Sometimes, I order ahead and pick up and the transaction is always smooth.
I often have trouble finding Asian meals that have a gluten-free variety and I love the number of options they have for me here. I typically get the Pad See Ew which is flavorful and you choose your level of spice. The spring rolls are also a very good appetizer.
Lunch can get a bit busy so plan accordingly. The inside is not very large and can fill up quickly but, again, they offer carry-out which is helpful. I would definitely recommend a visit.
I loved the food here, and the service was nice as well. I will return with my family.
The food was absolutely amazing. The apple blossom roll is highly recommended. The staff is kind and completely wonderful. Will come back again and again.
this place is AMAZING! the food was soooo delicious. the staff were so kind. we got takeout, which they put tin foil in the containers and it was STILL warm when i got hungry again over six hours later despite us being in the car for several hours in between. THANK YOU! you rock!
Used to go here all the time when I lived close, I don't anymore but I go here every time I visit. The Pad Thai is my usual and is absolutely delicious. It made Pad Thai my favorite food to this day. Their sushi is amazing, I love the California roll. The bento boxes are amazing. Service is excellent. Overall amazing place!
Decent Thai place. Good service
Their flat noodles are my favorite from here, but every dish I've had here has been delicious! It's worth it to get extra noodles.
Wow! I just had a pricy lunch but it was the equivalent of a birthday dinner!!! This is definitely my new favorite for Chinese/Asian cuisine!!! (I also had 2 beers & an appetizer, which probably made it a bit more than I expected)...
Small location but excellent service & food!!! I arrived around 1pm & had no wait on a Monday.
Truly phenomenal!!! Try it out!
First time ordering from Ka-Prow. I got the Yellow curry with Chicken and a Pad Kee Mao. Super delicious! Looks like I found the perfect place for lunch and dinner whenever I need my Thai cusine fix.
I paid $3 for extra seafood and received only three shrimps. The food was delicious, unfortunately the serving size was not large enough for the price.
This is my go-to for Thai and sushi cuisine in N. Austin. Staff is friendly and awesome. I've never had a meal there I didn't like.
A nice mom and pop location with great Thai food. Went there for lunch and they had great options from Chinese, Thai and to Vietnamese options. They also have sushi! Check this place out.
Food is really good! Most authentic Thai place in Austin! Chef is actually Thai. Very tasty food!
During a hail storm recently we decided to try this spot instead of a more well known one farther away. On first appearance its giving “feel good, basic Thai food -to go”. However upon sitting down we realized the Food was REALLY delicious. Like surprisingly good. Prices are affordable. We had plenty of leftovers. Service was impeccable. So thanks to that storm I found a new favorite- a hidden gem in the corner of a shopping center. 😋
Good asian food
Delicious food and great atmosphere! Easy to find location right off 35.
Everything was excellent, except for a child in the chefs area, who was making a lot of noise. He was making so much noise, that it was difficult to hear other people at my table. I also don't think it is sanitary to have young children in the food prep area.
Awesome food
Great food friendly staff! We always get the same waitress and she is fabulous.
🤤 SOME OF THE BEST THAI FOOD I’VE EVER HAD
A must visit!!
Every Thai dish I have had here is delicious. I’m honestly surprised more people aren’t here based on how good the food is!
Good food. Place recently changed its menu and prices are bumped up. We had to wait for 20 mins for parking
We love this place! The food is always excellent and the service and chef are great.
I love this place, and have loved it for over a decade. One of the best things is their easy willingness to work with dietary restrictions.
Great tasting food and the spice you want!
Awesome Soup And Food. Highly recommend. God Bless
Pad kee mao is my favorite dish
UPDATE: Ive been going here for years! They have made it through covid, boil notices, and below freezing craziness. Owner is resilient and an absolute legend.
I used to live walking distance and have since moved to a new place so I'm truly missing Ka-Prow.
First timers and the waitres was extremely friendly and helpful. Showed us how it is done so we could enjoy our meal!
