Relaxed, family-owned restaurant serving Japanese & Thai classics, including sushi.
This is a sushi shop we pass by every day, and after hearing good things about it, we decided to check it out. Great atmosphere and good service. We tried some specialty sushi rolls like Dynamite and Spicy Mango, but honestly, their generic sushi items, which were half the price, were much better. Next time, I plan to try their curry and will update my review.
This place was recommended to highly with them saying that the food here was better than my favorite Thai place in Nashville... I will say that the food didn't disappoint and it was delicious. The also serve sushi and Japanese food soo the atmosphere was more towards Japanese side. The only thing negative is that I wish the noodles weren't as fat but if that kind was all they had it would deter me from coming back 😁
Came for dinner right before 7pm. There was no line and I was seated immediately. The staff is very attentive. The restaurant has a relaxing atmosphere with seating well spaced out. Relaxing music playing in the background and some idle chatter can be heard from tables over but you can still hear and speak with who you are dinning with. They have a large selection of food from Thai to Japanese. The food was delicious. Not too greasy and the tofu pho had a great flavor.I will definitely be coming back here to try more from their menu!
Great place. We came here on our trip to Nashville since it was close to our airbnb. It was a lunch and we decided to try a few things. The drunken noodle was good, and I was able to choose the heat level, 3, which was perfect for me to have a good amount of heat without taking away flavor. We also had a few different sushi rolls, all of which were good, especially the tiger roll. My daughter said the spicy crab was good as well. We also got the Tom Kha soup with veggies, which was buttery. My wife thought it was a bit too much of a raw onion flavor, but I enjoyed it. 5 stars.
Aiyara Thai and Sushi has fantastic Thai food in the Berry Hill area, plus wonderful live music. The specialties are their Phad Thai and crispy duck. I'm really enjoying the tilapia, Tom Kha coconut soup, and sweet and sour chicken appetizer. Everything in the sushi bar is fresh and delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant for dine-in and take-out!
My husband and I have been here three times. Their food and service are great. I highly recommend trying their Thai tea, pad thai and Aiyara fried rice. They have varied options for sushi. For dessert, I love their mango sticky rice and crème brûlée. During the weekend, they have live music.
Health Dept. Inspection Score = 72.
Date of inspection: Jan. 28, 2025
Examples of violations: Built-up black substance in ice machine; Half and half measured 56 degrees; tapioca boba sitting at room temperature next to reach-in cooler in dish area (person in charge said the kitchen leaves boba to sit out for 2-3 days before discarding).
Bad sushi. Terrible manager. Mid panang. Don’t come here I’m saving you a disappointment.
Excellent service and good food.
Ordered here last night. Ordered a soda for $4, didn’t know it would be a small and mostly ice. Bad service for take out. And $4 for the small styrofoam cup that was almost filled with ice, that’s manipulation. Won’t order from this take advantage place anymore.
Amazing food and service
Came during their listed hours and they were randomly closed
It's a bit pricey, but the food is great. My family of 3 spent $60 on food.
Do not fall for the buy one get one free deal. They charge double price for one measly roll and call it buy one get one. The rolls were not as pictured. No chopsticks or soy sauce in the bag. To top it off, good was MEDIOCRE at BEST. I rarely ever write reviews, but I had to for this.
Long wait
Nashville has historically had a LOT of great Thai options, and my favorite has evolved over time, from Siam and Royal Thai back in the day to Smiling Elephant and the amazing Thai Phooket before their East location caught fire. It had all led me to Aiyara, the best overall combination of cozy atmosphere (plenty of booths inside), service (welcoming like family), and of course recipes (the only curry fried rice in town!). Best kept Thai secret in the city.
Has the best customer service, food is always so yummy!
Pretty good sushi for Nashville. Very prompt service with courteous staff. Amazing menu with dozens of selections.
I came in as the kitchen was closing, yet there was no complaint. The serving size seemed small for the comparative cost; however, they gave me free ice cream for a simple follow on Insta. My server was very friendly and was about to have her first child! She had a fabulous glow about her. I can't offer much more. It was a nice place. Not sure I'll return often as a local.

The sushi was subpar, horrible ingredients, overcooked rice, and was not fresh. Pretty sure some of the fish was canned as well. My husband and I ate it because we don't ever send food back but it was almost inedible. The service was horrible too but I think that's because they were understaffed. I honestly wish we would have gone to the sonic next door because the food would have been better and cheaper. $50 for lukewarm overcooked canned fish.
The place was packed so we went in. Proving once again Nashvillians have no sense of taste.
Service was terrible. Server would take fifteen plus minutes before coming by. I asked for water with lemon... so they don't even give me ice. Just a warm glass of water with a lemon floating in it.
the sushi rice was too wet and thick so it tasted like slime. All the ingredients were unbalanced so you'd get mouthful of cream cheese and nothing else. I've literally made better shrimp tempura at my home. For fifteen bucks a roll this is a war crime against taste.
We took a chance and boy howdy was it a swing and a miss.
The worst sushi I’ve ever had. The tuna roll literally was like from a can.
Really good food and a nice vibe. We had a great meal.

Great food! Amazing staff! Good love music!!
This is a hidden gem. Friendly service, excellent food, and live music Friday and Sunday. All at a very reasonable price. Will definitely be back!
Good service and nice setting. But we may have caught the kitchen on an off night. The food was average at best. The fried calamari was a little tough, and the teriyaki shrimp was not very flavorful and had more onion than shrimp.
Live entertainment is amazingly talented. Tonight was oldies music. Good cocktails and service at the bar. Tasty appetizers.
One of the best places for consistently good noodle dishes, rice, and soups on 8th. The fresh spring rolls are also excellent.
Great place, friendly staff, great food
Curry chicken for me, curry vegan for my Mrs.
Highly recommend
A nice place with peaceful atmospere and great food. The service was excellent

Best Thai restaurant in town! Great atmosphere, friendly and quick service, and delicious food! They have so much variety on their menu and they do it all well! We order from Aiyara at least 3 times a month!
Good food
Great Drunken Noodles! Love the new expanded atmosphere and bar. Cindy was such a great waitress.
Very disappointing considering this has a 4.3 rating - overall the food was bland and low quality ingredients. We had the satay the chicken was dry and bland felt like it was rubbed with chicken bouillon. The pad see ew was horrible - the beef was low quality and super tough, randomly the dish had carrots in it I have never seen before. The only decent dish was the red curry - it was editable but nothing special. I prefer smaller portions and higher quality versus what was provided! Also after we tried the food and checked interestingly the ratings on Yelp are much lower than what is shown on Google which seems sketchy!
Super nice staff. I got the egg rolls and chicken pad Thai I really enjoyed. Be mindful that there are two doors and one is closed at least for me during the day.
I have eaten all over nashville, especially in the category of sushi. I come here on a regular basis, the best of both worlds when I comes to Thai & sushi. the staff is kind, friendly, and fast. Quality of fresh fish and food in general is amazing. A hidden gem in this neighborhood for sure!

Big Portions and great presentation
This is a favorite restaurant for us. The atmosphere is peaceful, the food is consistently delicious, and the servers are respectful and engaging.
Fantastic Sushi with a great selection of rolls and entrees. If you like raw tuna they have it almost every way you can think to roll it.
Sushi is exceptional. Large, spaced out seating. Quiet during lunch to relax from crazy, hectic, ungodly work. One of my favorite lunch places to go!
Best Thai in Nashville. I eat here every week.
Order the ginger salad, general chicken and pad Thai level three spicy (if you like spicy) and split with someone (or don’t).
Food was just above average but the service and staff were good and froendly
My husband and I have been here three times. Their food and service are great. I highly recommend trying their Thai tea, pad thai and Aiyara fried rice. They have varied options for sushi. For dessert, I love their mango sticky rice and crème brûlée. During the weekend, they have live music.
This by far was the NASTIEST pho I have ever tasted! My meatballs were hard & tasted like cardboard, my noodles were over cooked, the broth tasted watery like everything about it was HORRIBLE 0/10 I don’t recommend
- always greeted warmly
- good food
- attentive staff
- good atmosphere
Husband loved his food - ginger beef. I got sushi - it was all weird tasting. Seemed something was off with the cream cheese in the food. Husband thought I was being over picky but then he ate the simple Philly roll I got and he agreed that tasted weird. Another roll that I got was super spicy and was not marked that way. I might would go back because husband loved it so much but I'd be careful not to order anything with cream cheese or any sauce that I hadn't had before.
Food was awesome and workers were great!!!
I only tried the veggie red curry everything was excellent except for the curry was very strong in coconut and tasted like sweetened coconut milk so that was a negative being too sweet. But spice level was good at a three, probably could have done a four. But abundant veggies and very fresh. Rice was good. Service was excellent and atmosphere was very comfortable. I would go back to try other things but I am disappointed about how sweet the curry was And because that's one of my favorite dishes this won't be the first place I think about when I want Thai food.
Was not expecting the best sushi given that it's Nashville, but it was truly awful. There were 5 in my party, and all the food came out except for the sushi, which came out by the time everyone else was done with their dinners. The live music would be nicer in a different type of restaurant.
Fantastic food, great service
10/10 recommend. Cool calm atmosphere, top notch service and the food is amazing.
Just Horrible . I stopped here passing through to go to atl and I ordered the com chay vegetarian and paid 14$ for it they tied the bag and barely gave me any food , the meal didn’t come w bamboo shots or mushrooms and they added fish sauce when the menu doesn’t say fish sauce. FYI FISH SAUCE ISNT VEGAN . I really want a refund but I’m on the road yall steal ppls money and I’m still hungry
Delicious food and reasonably priced compared to most other places with sushi. Service was fantastic and even the manager touched base to make sure everything was up to standards.
Great place to eat vegetarian pho👍
Amazing staff. Even better food.
The duck is delicious and the service has been excellent!
Man just bad service
We were looking for a place to eat when we stumbled upon this place went in order was very prompt service the sushi was great the egg rolls were great the beef and broccoli was good but it was a little salty for me and the broccoli and carrots could have been cooked a little longer other than that it was awesome thank you
Literally the best sushi I’ve had in Nashville reminded me of coastal quality fish
This has been our go to Thai place - we actively try to go to other restaurants to give them a chance and still keep coming back. The quality of food, portion size, and customer service has been unmatched. Everything on the menu here is great!
This place is heaven rolled in sushi 🍣
Incredibly friendly staff, and the ginger dressing is perfection! Stopped here on a whim on the way to meet clients and they were super kind, and the menu is fantastic!!
I ordered from here via Door Dash this evening, I do not recommend my order of Pad Thai (old scallion, no veggies, sauce smelled like emesis but appeared to have a decent amount of fried tofu) or the Tiger Roll (just eeewww). I ordered a Cali roll too as a backup lol, which I'm glad I did. I was terrribly disappointed overall, I really wanted to like this place.
UPDATE: This was the first place I went when I felt safe enough to go back to restaurants after a 2-year gap (darn pandemic!). The food is still phenomenal! We enjoyed it so much we went back the next week. Still my favorite sushi place and a great place to go even if you don't want sushi! They have a huge menu of choices from Thai to Japanese. (And, of course, I got the Volcano Roll!)
This is our favorite place for sushi! I'm a big fan of eel so I have to recommend the Snake Roll. If you love avocado, try the Monkey Brain! The Volcano Roll is amazing. Well... everything we've had has been amazing.
Always amazing food and the service is wonderful. I love that they offer gluten free soy sauce.
Great Food - Tom yum soup, fried dumplings, bento box with red curry and fried rice. Absolutely recommend it.
Good service.
Nice atmosphere.
Food came out probably much faster then it would have taken to make fresh.
Gave my friend and I diarrhea for 2 days.
I’ve ordered from here before and it’s been sort of decent but I ordered 2 rolls today and they were so bad they were basically inedible. Tasted not fresh at all and the tempura shrimp tasted like it had been sitting out for hours.
Very nice, quiet and calm restaurant
great food and for some reason it's never super crowded
Fantastic Asian themed restaurant with a wide variety of options.
After being sick for a week and forgetting to eat a couple days in a row, I knew I needed sustenance but nothing sounded appealing. Except some pho. So I ordered pho and pad Thai it was delivered soon after. The portions were enormous and the flavor couldn’t have been better. I honestly think this food saved my life.
The food absolutely is a 4.5 stars. The music on the other hand is 1 star. I have brought many people in here, and every person says the same thing. Terrible music playing over the speakers. Mostly generic sounding covers of old pop music. Terrible terrible terrible. The old owners used to play some really nice classic jazz music and it set the mood so nicely.
Amazing food. Super fast and friendly service. Super flavorful. Would absolutely come back.

Cherry blossom 🌸!
Food was delicious. Had sushi, edamame and pad thai. All of them were amazing! The service was great. Everything came out in a timely manner. We we were not waiting or wasting any time. We we were able to get in-and-out in about 45 minutes.
I order some sushi rolls online for pick up! It was ready SO FAST, and the food was delicious! Recommended👍🏽
As my friend says, "Magnificent and steadily improving. Only one problem. I'd be glad to give their staff ESL lessons and develop a test of menu knowledge. Ordering is really a chore.
Our go-to spot for lunch! Their lunch specials are amazing! I go here at least once a week. Great service and fresh, delicious food.
This is an amazing, authentic Thai eatery with wonderful staff and a really nice scenery. KUDOS ❤️❤️❤️
I eat this place at least 4 times a week. Love the pad Thai chicken.
Just got a takeout order and it was soooo good. I don't give out praise lightly (I work in the food industry) but this place is worth it. I got the shrimp tempura bento dinner and everything was perfect- the tempura was even still crispy by the time I got home. The bento plus an order of summer rolls was a TON of food. Everything tasted really good, I'll definitely be returning. Kudos to the kitchen!
The green curry and pad Thai were incredible! Highly recommend!
Great service and amazing selection
Really really good sushi and the noodle dishes are awesome!
Hands down best sushi place in south Nashville! The staff is also so friendly and nice!
Tried them for the first time today. Definitely coming back.
Absolutely awful. Do not waste your time! Visited twice, once to eat in and once for pickup. The first go around, the entree was wrong and experience mediocre at best. The second time, I waited 35 minutes past my pickup time for 3 sushi rolls and gyoza. The sushi "chefs" were working at a snail's pace. And the presentation and food were completely unsatisfying when I did get the food home!
Love their red curry bento box!!
Pretty good selection of all kind off sushi rolls, and other dishes.
Great service, great food
Great, trendy vibe to this place. Awesome first impression. The pad thai was delicious and the signature rice dish, of which I can't recall its title, was okay but I didn't like the sausage being in it. They also have dessert options, but I didn't have enough room as I had two entrees for the sake of being a "foodie." The prices are standard Thai restaurant ($10 - $13 per entree). Also, there is a nice sushi selection. As Rhodey said, "next time, baby." Overall, a pretty good place to dine. Recommend.
Great waiter service and food
Best sushi in Nashville, the pho and noodle dishes are good too! Friendly quick service.
Always good food and good service.
Amazing atmosphere and great service!! The food was great and they had what looked like a karaoke stage, will be even more fun to go to after covid times have passed!
My new favorite goto place for Shrimp Pad Thai. They always get it right!
Favorite restaurant in Nashville!
Went here for hubby birthday. Food was delicious!
Excellent Pad Thai. Some of the most authentic I've had here in Nashville. Seasoned just right, with just the right amount of heat. Plenty of shrimp. My new Thai go-to spot in Nashville.
Spicy tuna is delicious. Awesome.
Covid has the place abandoned at 2pm in the afternoon, but the food is delicious.
Looks like a hole in the wall but lots of room! Very nice Ambience. Good food and even better service and friendly servers!
Great place to eat, love the vibe
Although one of the cooks came in the bathroom
And did not wash his hands
favorite
Ordered through Door Dash. Their food was incredible and super yummy! It arrived hot and the portions were enough for several meals. The spiciness level is lower than what I'm use to when I order thai but I would rather it be less spicy than way too much. I will absolutley order from here again.
This place is never busy. They'll sit you down fast, let you have plenty of time to order, and the food is ALWAYS fresh.
Fiance and I love to order the rangoons and fried dumplings, and every single time they are top notch! We always order two or three rolls of sushi as well, and it's some good sushi.
With two apps, and two rolls of sushi we leave with full bellies and about a $25 bill.
One of our favorite places to eat for cheap!!
Food was excellent. Had Miso soup, shrimp sashimi, vegetable egg rolls, tomyum soup & California egg rolls with roe. Service was also impeccable. Very friendly staff & owner stopped by the table too.
The quality of the fish has really gone down since the new ownership took over. Prices are as high as ever though!
One of the best Asian restaurants I've ever eaten at. The waiters are always attentive and nice. They make you feel right at home. This is a great idea for any date night.
8th Nashville roll was yummy!
Sayonara, Aiyara. 😕
Ordered the sashimi platter, had to ask twice for my salad and soup.
Salad was half the size of my friends, soup was lukewarm.
The sashimi arrived and was 3 kinds of fish and garnish.
No roe, not seaweed salad, just 9 pieces of fish and garnish.
For perspective, the chirashi bowl is the same price, comes with no less than 6-8 varieties of fish, assorted roes, seaweed salad, pickled vegetables, and rice.
If you're ordering this to eliminate rice, there should be more variety, not less. 🤷🏻♂️
My friend had garlic stir fried chicken and vegetables.
It was ridiculously bad, it was probably the blandest dish I've ever had at a restaurant.
Add in a oblivious, incompetent server and it makes for a very sad experience.
This place has struggled to maintain consistency over the past 2 years.
Sadly, after tonight, I won't be back.
The BEST!! You can't beat the variety of options for those in your party not eating sushi. Sushi recommendations: Monkey Brain, Snake Roll, Volcano Roll, Dragon Roll... actually ANY of their sushi and sashimi. We've never been disappointed.
Awesome experience
Really good food and portions, the lower rating is because they literally never answer their phone (probably 10 different phone calls on different occasions) and their online ordering always says “we are not currently accepting orders.” So, the only way to place a to-go order is to go to the restaurant and sit while they make it.
I had the calamari appetizer it was terrible I could not chew it. The waitress said it’s supposed to be hard, but I don’t think so! That was not my first time to have calamari Rest of food was ok, not great
Always fantastic service and the red curry is special!
Great company and good food
I came here Saturday evening 11/2/19 with my sisters. Very unpleasant experience. Our food was very good but orders came out wrong. Once everything was fixed no one came back to the table to check on us. Over an hour went by and I had to flag someone down to get boxes and our bills. Another 30 minutes went by before we even received our bills. When we asked to speak to the manager or someone in charge about our experience we were told no. I am not very happy with our experience and will not be returning.
Good food and very generous portions
Good food. The general chicken is 🔥
Monday at 6pm 9/30 ....supposed to be open and doors are locked...lights off inside.
Had the crab cream cheese sushi and I noticed the pieces are larger than other places I've been to. Also, the crab noodle soup is awesome! My favorite is their won ton soup.
New Owners have livened up the place a bit. Food is very good for Asian fusion and they have fast and friendly service. Great for lunches and larger groups as well. Very good cuts of sushi and a unique sushi roll menu with some hit choices.
Cozy, family friendly. Good food. Live music sometimes.
I had such a great experience at this restaurant. The servers were very nice and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend the fried dumplings and Hunter sushi roll (both are so warm and yummy). Also forgot my phone on the table, one of the servers ran out to hand it to me (so kind).
When i walked in another customer was already irrate because the staff messed up his order then had him wait an hour because they didnt tell him his food was ready. They never even apologized they just kept making excuses. I hoped this was a fluke and that it wouldnt happen to me, but it did. They messed up my order then when I drove all the way back to get it fixed they acted like it was my fault. Theyre constantly making mistakes which wouldnt be so bad if they were at least apologetic but they never take responsibility for anything which is probably why the dining room was empty at 7 in the afternoon. Dont go here.
The wait staff was completely and totally disorganized so much so that I can't remember how the food was. I asked to speak to someone in charge but no manager or supervisor present. Wait staff did whatever it wanted...or not. Put it this way, it's only the 2nd time in 40 years I didn't leave a tip. I'm still angry about eating there & it's 5 months later. Get Japanese somewhere, actually anywhere else.
Very good place if you're in the area and want Thai food 👍👍
