I cannot wait to come back here! We just moved to the area and I’m so happy we found this place! The service is quick and friendly, and the food is phenomenal! My hubby and I split the curry puff (oh my gosh, delicious), the Miami Hurricane roll, vegetable pad Thai and the tuna tataki. Every single thing we ordered was flavorful and scrumptious. And to compliment the entire meal, I ordered a Thai tea which is just always the best beverage to enjoy (any time in my opinion). My only complaint is that we didn’t find you sooner!
Cute little place. Sushi is pretty good. I ordered the rock and roll. It was almost as good as Edo’s and that’s saying a lot. I’ll be back. The place was very clean and they really care about the customer. A little expensive but everything is expensive now a days. I also had BBQ, a little too sweet for me but my husband loved it. I would definitely love to try some of the other dishes which i’ve never seen at any other restaurant. I hear the curry is great. Please support these small family owned businesses.
Overall, a very good mixture of Thai and Japanese cuisine. I wish that they had been a little more accurate on the menu about what is actually included on the plates, as there was food on it that I could not eat. Chairs are also fairly uncomfortable due to the fact that they are all wooden, but we did not get to sit in the main area only near the register. They did forget part of our order. But I'm chopping it down to them being a little more new
Shown in photos: calamari, mango roll, Miami heat roll, pad Thai, Panang curry, and atmosphere.
Went here for a friend’s birthday. Called ahead and made a reservation. Service was soooo slow we sat there for 20 minutes before ever getting water at the table. The server only had 3 other tables besides us who were at different points in their meals. Then we waited another 15-20 for the server to come back and get our food orders. Since there were 8 of us, it took almost an hour after that to get our food. It didn’t even come out at the same time. Myself and one other waited another 15 minutes for our food after everyone else. BUT….the food is good. It came out piping hot. And then we found this lounge gem after the fact. I will return to give it another try.
Small place but delicious food. The firecracker shrimp was really good. I got the pineapple chicken and shrimp rice and it came in a cool pineapple bowl! Very nice presentation. Boyfriend got the pad Thai mildly spicy and it was also a great dish. Our server was very nice and kept our drinks refilled. Will definitely order from here again in the future.
BEST THAI IN TRI CITIES
This place is always closed. I think they must've gone out of business. Never open on Door Dadh and haven't been open any time I've been past in the last couple of months.
They are never open and even though Google says they are. The doors are locked and it's closed 7 days a week. This is my 4th time trying to come here and they are closed
This is by far the best curry around. I have tried curry at 6 different places surrounding me and even though this is the farthest away. I would still make the drive. I cannot recommend the Panang Curry enough.
This was a great place for Thai, but I haven’t gotten anyone to answer the phone for an order in over 2 weeks. I can only assume they are out of business. 😞
My wife and I ate at this establishment recently. Food was served quickly. Food was fresh and delicious. Will definitely be back!

Cozy little place with excellent food and quick service. Will eat here again.

Awesome Thai street food! Great appetizer options, and professional staff. Would recommend!

I have gotten Thai takeout from here a couple of times. It's really good!
Exceptional but it's exterior sc4eams hole in the wall.

One of our favorite places to go. Great food, their wings are big and very flavorful.
Dishes have great flavor! The owner is very friendly and food came out quick!
Food was excellent. Service was extremely slow but they weren't even that busy. I think they forgot about our table and didn't start our order until 30 minutes after we put it in.
When I’m here for work I always stop here for dinner. Pad Thai is fantastic. The food was delivered quick and spice level was just right.
Best Thai restaurant in have been to in America
Pad Thai was scorched and tasted like fish sauce... the calamari was like rubber... VERY disappointing.... NEVER AGAIN!!!
The best Thai food I have ever had. My husband and I have tried multiple things from the menu and everything has been absolutely delicious. When people come to visit from out of town, this is the place we take them!
Always a great experience...
Absolutely great food.
This place is so good! The sushi isn't the best I've ever had, but it's still really good. Everything my family and I ordered over the weekend was absolutely fantastic! So fresh, piping hot, and quick to receive! The service is wonderful. We love it here and plan on coming back to try something new each time.
Great atmosphere. Cute and quaint. Very good sushi. Their Thai teas are a must try. Their green tea is the best I've ever had!
Food was fast and delicious. The indoor atmosphere is amazing but the surrounding rooms are a bit weird and the outdoor atmosphere should be avoided if possible.
Food is extremely delicious but place is a bit sus. Building spawned in as we approached and the backrooms are filled with mindless NPC's.
Food is as good as you can get in JC and this place is extremely consistent. The owners are very sweet and clearly know what they’re doing in the kitchen.
Came in from out of town,Thai dishes tastes authentic. Absolutely will be back when back in town.
By far best Thai food in the tricities area. Don't let the location fool you, this place is a jewel.
The music was off but the rest was wonderful. The food was good. The service was awesome. I would go back.
This is my first time visiting this restaurant. I drive by it every day but tonight my family and I decided to drop by. This place is for sure a hidden gem. The food was great and it looks so cute inside!!! This spot will visited more frequently by us!:)
I can’t recommend this place enough! My family got takeout from them a couple nights ago, and everything we got was amazing! We tried their ginger stir fry, red curry, and chicken teriyaki, and not a single meal disappointed. They load everything up with tons of delicious veggies and absolutely didn’t skimp on the meat/tofu whatsoever. Everything was just packed with delicious flavors. I recommend them highly to everyone looking for some awesome Thai food!
Super quick and friendly service. Delicious food! Thai fried rice, gyoza, miso soup, and ginger tea were perfect. Very cute place:)
HUGE menu with so much interesting international food! The menu has not only great Thai options, but a very wide range of Asian dishes. Service and atmosphere are excellent. I especially love their wide selection of affordable appetizers!
My husbands yakiniku was very dry and my red curry only had chicken and bell peppers, flavor was ok, not somewhere I would recommend
Truly a hidden gem. I'm surprised it's not busier. Their food is some of the best in the city. The ambiance is stellar. Their wait staff are always on top of it. My favorite sushi here by far.
Food, service atmosphere everything was AMAZING! Try the Thai tea!
OMG!!! This place is AMAZING!!! I can not believe it's not packed with people all of the time. Their Thai tea is to die for and their food is delicious! I highly recommend.
Best Thai dishes in Johnson City!
Papaya salad is good, wishing a little more sweet. Pork belly in the ginger is excellent.❤️❤️
Best Asian food in town.
The food was amazing! My husband had some sushi and teriyaki chicken. I had some coconut milk tofu soup (the best soup I've ever had) and the Miami heat roll. We will definitely go back!
I loved this place and the food, but my wife and I became violently sick after eating there last night. We got our usual pad kee mao and red curry and tasted amazing. We both woke up this morning with nausea, vomiting, and chills. Our kids didn't eat the food, and they are asymptomatic. Please just be careful.
Edit: they're closed until June 5th. It shows open on Google, but when we arrived there was a sign on the door.
This is a great place. If you like Thai, then you need to give them a try!
Found this gem on our way to Gatlinburg and I’m so glad we did. Was having a hard time ordering (so much looked awesome) so we asked the waitress her favorite. She did not steer us wrong. We tried a bunch of things and it was all great. Highly, highly recommend!
Ordered from Grubhub and omg, so delicious!! Teriyaki chicken was so good and the unagi sushi was to die for.
Best Thai food in town! This is the only place you should go if you’re looking for any kind of Thai food! Curry puffs are a must get anytime you come here. No matter what you get, it will be amazing. The owners have always been so nice and talk with me and my family every time we come.
Had the Curry Puff appetizer and Khao Moo Dang, both were delicious. The food was of very high quality and so flavorful. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely return and try more items from the menu. Excellent experience !
Very good and authentic Thai food. I haven't tried their americanized food or sushi, but it does look very fresh.
First time and unfortunately last went here by checking reviews the place is basic looks wise but clean the waitress was friendly so got the curried rice with chicken the chicken was non existing what was there was dry and small the rice flavor itself was tasty but again dry my biggest gripe was the portion size and at over 12 bucks not even a pint enough for a child maybe not a grown man look at my picture to see how small the plate was that a standard size fork would a cup more of rice and a few more pcs of chicken broken there business no but it would have made me a future customer so if you got an big appetite don’t bother you’ll be left feeling hungry
The food is AMAZING!!! I am not easily impressed and they did it! They have things I’d never seen on other authentic thai menus and was so excited to try new things. I had the curry puffs, Larb Esan and Khao Grapow Moo Krob (sooooo Good)!!!!
Pinto is overall a hidden gem here in Johnson City. Overall, great food! We got the homemade curry puffs, ginger beef stir fry, Rock-n-Roll Sushi Roll, Iced Thai Tea, and the Mango Stick, and literally everything was fantastic. If you're looking for a good Thai place and also good sushi, I couldn't recommend this place enough. The staff was great and extremely respectful about my dietary issue with lactose and made sure I didn't have any issues at all. The only thing negative I can say is the location it's a rather small place and the decor could be a tad bit better, but that's minute things.
TLDR; Food was great, staff is friendly, prices are decent. Only negative is place is somewhat small
Everything has been super yummy! 👌 😋
Good to the shrimp and vegetable tempura. It was very tasty and not at all spicy.
Waitress was on the ball, and pleasant and efficient.
If you like Thai food, this is the place to go!
Wheelchair accessible.
I just can't tell you how good this place is.
This is one of my favorite hidden restaurants to eat in Johnson City. From appetizers to dessert, Pinto provides wonderful fairly authentic Thai flavors than anywhere else in the area. In the past year, I've eaten here probably 20 or so times, and I've never been disappointed!
Recently, I've started getting the Khao Krapow with a second fried egg and a side of peanut sauce (used on the chicken Satay starter which is also delicious). After mixing everything together, you get an amazing plate akin to chicken fried rice with several layers of peanut buttery flavors that cannot be underestimated. Even by itself the dish is wonderful and has a nice basil flavor, but I just wanted to share a personal favorite creation.
Also, the Thai Dounut is an amazing dessert that is incredibly light and fluffy with small peanut chunks on top.
Outstanding food! We tried it tonight for the first time and we are hooked. Highly recommended.
Omg! This place is incredible. Noodles were fantastic. Would eat here every night if I had unlimited funds🤪
Pinto is one of my most visited restaurants in JC. Their food is consistently delicious and high quality for dining in or take out. I highly recommend the stir fry dishes but I have never been disappointed with anything I’ve had here!
Loved my first experience there. Always looking for a good Thai place and this place is amazing! Definitely a must try.
Legit! This is your spot. Food is authentically delicious!
This is my favorite restaurant in all of johnson city! The food is always fresh and amazing and the prices aren't bad either. I just ordered the lunch Thai basil with steamed dumplings and steamed rice for $13! The only downside is when I'm eating in I like a soda with my meal and the last time I was there it was cans of soda for $1.50 each (I believe). They did give a glass of ice with it but I typically drink a few soda refills per meal (I'm basically a camel) so it adds up that way. Other than that they are perfect. I'm not a huge sushi fan but I have tried 3 of their sushi rolls and they were all nice and fresh. You can even watch them roll them! The outside doesn't look like much, but I'm telling you, you won't regret giving them a shot! Best Asian food for miles!
Menu has options for everyone, lots to choose from. Very clean dining room, in the men's room urinal was broken and the toilet had not been flushed prior to our visit.
Staff was not friendy, I did not feel welcome. Only one other family there.
I suggest doing takeout and go often so you can try everything they have to offer, don't forget the Mango Sticky Rice for dessert, yummy.
Ordered takeout. When I entered the restaurant, it looked very clean and had a cozy atmosphere. We split the pad thai and pad see ew along with miso soup. Ohhhhhh my goodness! It was SO DELICIOUS, and you receive pretty hearty portions! This place is a true gem and is certainly worth trying.
I will definitely be back. If I could give even more than 5 stars, I would!
I love this place. Some of the best food in JC. Staff and owner are great.
Great food every time I go there.
Authentic Thai food! And it’s my favorite sushi place. everyone I bring here or recommend it to LOVES IT!! The owners are very friendly. We go so often that the waitress/waiter remembers my order. If you’re looking for sushi try JB tempura roll! Or the Mango roll. Make sure to try the iced Thai tea 😋. It’s better to dine in than take out because dish qualities/amount is better.
Relaxed dining. Excellent food.
This restaurant smells terrible. I'm not sure what the smell is but it is not good. This needs to be adjusted immediately. I would not want to eat in this restaurant. I deliver food and five minutes in this restaurant was too much. If I go back and the smell has been addressed, I'll update my review
Delivered for them and the place is set up very nicely and food looked amazing and smelled even better
My daughter and I tried your restaurant this evening and we are so glad we did. The food was fantastic. Everyone seemed super friendly. Our waitress was amazing! We very much look forward to our next time! Thank you!
Best Thai I've had since moving here from Vegas. Service is slow but very nice and food is always fresh and hot
The food is great the young girl at the register was the sweetest and very helpful food prices were a high normal for good food my only disappointment was the drinks I got a lime tea which was delicious but it was a very small cup and $4. In my opinion overpriced for a tea.
Best food in JC!! Husband and I are on a kick to eat at all restaurants we haven't tried yet since we are moving to another state. Too bad we didn't know about this 3 weeks before leaving. The chicken wings and pork belly are phenomenal!!! Everything we got was really, really amazing!!!!!!!!
Also, dairy allergen people can eat just about everything here!!!!!
Very good
Fantastic! Authentic and spot on! Crafted with care and love and you can taste it!
Red curry, Tom yum soup, sticky mango rice, excellent!
Atmosphere is calm and chillax contemporary.
The food here is always excellent. Best sushi in Johnson City.
Great food!
I am from Thailand, and I can give you my honest review. Pinto is a good place for authentic Thai taste (specifically Thai street food). They have a variety of menu items that are different from other typical Thai restaurants. Parking is also very convenient. I will (for sure) keep coming back.
such good food i love it and the service is wonderful will be a consistent costumer!
After driving by Pinto Thai multiple times, I decided to give it a try. You will not be disappointed. The menu has a lot of choices. The Thom Ka Guy soup is very tasty with lots of coconut flavoring. The Phad Thai is the best in town, made with Tammarand. The food comes out quick and the staff is very friendly. The curry is also top shelf.
Decent food, overpriced, very small portions.
Hands down best sushi! This place is amazing. I left so happy I basically skipped to the car! I take my food very seriously. Go, you won’t be disappointed!
Food was very bland. Chicken teriyaki- the chicken was tough and had a weird texture.
I used to work there and I have nothing bad to say about their food! It is delicious and the kitchen is very clean. I still go back there often to get the pork belly and tomka soup. Everything on the menu is good! Owners are very kind and the food is delicious. This is a great local business to support
The sushi was very good, tried the rainbow roll and I'd give it a solid 7 or 8. Definitely the best I've had in this area so far. We also got the red curry with chicken and it was amazing. The ingredients were fresh and the service was great. If you're in the mood for authentic Thai food, I can't recommend anywhere else in Johnson City.
Most authentic Thai I've had in a long time; tomkha soup and pad see ew are always delicious (and don't miss the Thai tea)!
Great food!
Just incredible
Love. This. Place. The cold jasmine tea is heaven! Great service, food l, and atmosphere!
So excited to have this awesome new restaurant so close to home!
We had the chicken wing appetizer which was cooked in a honey, sticky sauce and the chicken was extra crispy. I would come back just for that but the dinner was equally food.
We shared the pineapple fried rice with chicken and shrimp plus the chicken pad see ew. Loved it all. We got ours mild but you can adjust the spice level and the table has a chili sauce and red peppers.
A second visit! I’m working my way through the menu!
Started with the curry puffs. 4.5 stars. These are like sweeter versions of samosas. Main dish: Lard Nah this time. Loved it. The gravy is so light but so flavorful and yet again, the texture of those noodles was just perfection. I ordered the “mild” level for this dish & it was perfect for me. I love heat but don’t want to break a sweat.
I also tried the Pad Keemow & will 100% go back for that by midweek. 😂
🔥takeout
Excellent curry!
Food is delicious! We tried the Thai options and enjoyed it.
I had delivery by Doordash.
On time and packed well.
Best pad thai i have had since moving from Houston. Love the ginger salad dressing. Great pork dumplings.
Delicious, went on Christmas Day with some friends on a whim and hands down some of the best Pad Thai that we've had. Sushi was fresh, everything was fresh, staff was very sweet, place was clean, overall great experience. We have already made plans to visit again.
I was in town visiting my family for Christmas. I spotted Pinto as it's literally walking distance from my family's home. I made a mental note to try it and I'm so glad I did! I ordered a number of things for myself and my family and none of them disappointed. I ordered the Miami Heat Roll, the Thai wings, Mango Sticky Rice, Yellow Curry Fried Rice with Vegetables and Tofu and. Thai Iced Tea. ALL of it was amazing! We ordered on Christmas Eve. They are open Christmas day and I'm so tempted to forgo the traditional Christmas dinner and have Thai instead, lol!I I definitely want to go back before I leave and try something different. On top of the food being delicious, the staff was very friendly. From the phone call to place my order to me picking up the food, they were very welcoming. I would definitely recommend Pinto Sushi Thai Kitchen!😊😋
Really good food!
This is as authentic as it gets in the Tri-Cities!
Very nice and quiet little place for some dang good food. Will be back to try more of their dishes.
We had the rainbow roll, fresh rolls, Thai fresh basil with chicken and khao krapow. It was all great. It’s definitely a good place to eat and we will be back.
Tasty food, good service, calm atmosphere.
Simply put, the food here is amazing! I dined here with my uncle, who lived in Thailand for a number of years. He says the food here is the most authentic one can find in these parts. And I, having lived on the West Coast for 20 years and having patronized MANY Thai restaurants from Vancouver BC to San Diego, can say with certainty that the food here is outstanding.
We started off our meal with fried squid (calamari). I dare say it was the best I've ever had -- so very fresh, tender (not tough or chewy at all), and seasoned perfectly with black pepper. It was so tasty, it didn't need the accompanying sweet chili sauce. I couldn't stop raving about it.
We then moved on to a couple of sushi rolls (maki) expertly made by the owner's son. I highly recommend the Mango Roll, a scrumptious mix of soft and crunchy, and sweet and savory. And again, as with the squid, the seafood in the rolls was fresh, and they were served with plenty of ginger and wasabi.
And finally, we shared two entrees: Shrimp Pad Thai and Panang Curry with Tofu, served with jasmine rice. We enjoyed both very much, but the curry was the clear favorite. Bursting with flavor, the sweet, spicy gravy soaked into the tofu and drowned the rice. It was so good we had difficulty knowing when to stop eating.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you give Pinto Sushi Thai Kitchen a try. It's a family-owned and operated business, and the family is incredibly kind and gracious. Wonderful people! The place is spotless and very welcoming. If I lived in the area, I would be a regular customer here.
I'm still thinking about that calamari...
Fabulous food in a friendly environment. A must try! Everything we had was fantastic.
Very exciting menu, lots of really tasty sounding options. Atmosphere was excellent, peaceful music and well appointed dining area.
My wife had a combo Pad Thai dish that was very good. Really fresh and delicious. It came with a steamed pork dumpling which I highly recommend. Very good. I had a Thai pork belly dish with rice that I loved. Great flavors and perfectly cooked rice. The medium spicy was really not spicy at all and I would go higher on the spice level next time.
Definitely check this place out!!! Absolutely worth it.
I absolutely love the food here. Best sushi
Very good food.
Excellent sushi with quality ingredients. My family and I enjoyed every bite.
pricing. Service, fast and helpful.
Have eaten here a few times, always delicious
The red curry was delicious. You can get different levels of heat to your taste. Fair menu prices as well.
We have been to Pinto twice now and loved it both times. They have fast and friendly service and fantastic food. Highly recommend!
Second time I've been. Food is really good and service was fast and friendly. Not very busy for lunchtime, about 12:30, hope that changes for them.
This place is really good! We've eaten here 4 times now and everything I've had has been very tasty. The menu is extensive and there's so much to try. My husband and I are very adventurous eaters and have never been disappointed. However, my really picky father also has a favorite dish (Thai Fried Rice) and our 2 year old is a fan of the Chicken Katsu. I only wish they had a dedicated kid's menu with lower prices. The service is always good and the food arrives quickly. We will definitely be making this part of our regular rotation!
Meh. We came at the tail end of a busy night, but I’m not here to complain about end of night service. The fresh rolls were boring. The sauce was hot/temp wise. They were rice noodles and iceberg lettuce. The pad Thai was just okay, nothing special about the flavor. The serving was small for $12. I ordered #3 spicy (out of 4) and it was barely spicy. It seemed low quality.
The BEST sushi restaurant in the Johnson City area. Food is always crazy fresh and delicious.
Nice atmosphere, very tasty food. We got the pork and crab appetizers, both delicious. I got the pad Thai and my husband got a pork and rice dish I can't remember the name of. Even a mild spice was too hot for me so we had to switch. But! It was so good I tired to fight through the heat so I could eat it myself!
We ordered take out so the presentation isn't the best but everything we got was yummy. The sushi was amazing and I loved all of the sauces that came with each dish.
Awesome sushi! Only tried the Mango Roll tonight but I was very impressed. Will definitely be back to try more!
Great food. Authentic taste. Clean restaurant.
Fantastic food and staff! The waitress made my grandmother very comfortable by turning down the music and ensuring she had everything she needed. The chef also asked us to judge their food and we had a lot of fun doing that! I highly recommend and can't wait to go again!
Thai and Japanese cuisine shared under one roof.
Things you should know:
I. LOCATION
Parking is very easy and stress free. There's a large open lot outside of the plaza Pinto is in. The only issue I encountered was Google Maps took me behind the building. It's off of Walnut St... If maps takes you off that, then you're headed in the wrong direction. Stay on Walnut Street and the red restaurant sign will steer you right. Hopefully that's something that can be fixed with maps.
II. SERVICE
Accomodating and excellent! Our waitress handled all our picky dietary needs well and with a positive attitude. She also carried good feedback with the menu and would ask the chef questions if there was a detail she didn't know the answer to.
III. QUALITY
The reason why I didn't give Pinto 5 stars. It was NOT BAD but it wasn't great either. My spring roll fell apart instantly and was more rice noodles than anything else.
IV. CAPACITY
For a Tuesday night, there was fair amount of seating available.
Everything is so fresh and tastes delicious! Level 3 spicy is perfect!
The food was absolutely delicious. I do hope they get soda on tap, soon though.
My wife and I are here for lunch. Everything was banging. Food & service
Excellent food!
I have been waiting on a to go order for roughly a half hour along with 2 others. Dine-in patrons have been seated and began receiving their orders. Glacial speed of service. Will not return.
I have eaten here twice this week already. I plan to make it a frequent stop!
A fantastic Thai restaurant in Johnson City!
Great service, fantastic food, the best Thai food I've ever had. The location is just slightly out of the way but it's easy to find. Give them a try! We will definitely be back.
$üśhï mmmmmmm
I come here all of the time and it has been such an amazing experience each time. The servers are all so nice and work so hard. The cooks make the most amazing food. I have not had anything I have not liked. The sushi is so amazing. It is honestly my favorite. I would give this place more than 5 stars if I could. Everyone needs to try this place cause it honestly cannot disappoint !!!
Literally the best place to eat in Johnson city. Service is outstanding and all of the staff is so knowledgeable and just add to the overall experience!!! I would recommend this place to anyone!!! Absolutely will return
Came in for sushi and litteraly nutted in my pants after the first bite it was so good 🤤🥴
By far one of my favorite places for sushi! also the staff were so kind and made it a great experience.
I have come almost every single day since they have been open and I have not been disappointed even once. The staff is always super friendly and if I have any questions the server is always there to help. I highly recommend the chicken pad Thai (I like mine Thai hot but be careful, it really is Thai hot lol). I do not want to see this business fail, the owner is the sweetest woman I’ve ever met and you can tell how hard she works. If I could, I would buy all of their food every single day (I’m poor though). Support your local businesses everyone!!!! They are the best.
Such an awesome sushi place!! The staff is all so nice and they have wonderful food. If you haven’t been, check them out.
Good service, good food and good atmosphere. 10 out of 10 would eat here again.
